I havent seen anyone talk about this yet so im making a post.
So lets say you’re researching something for a paper (or just for fun) and the research paper you want to read is behind a paywall, or the site makes you create an account first, or makes you pay to download, or limits you to only 5 free articles, or otherwise makes it difficult for you to read what you want.
Tumblr media
do not fear! copy the link to the article
Tumblr media
go to sci-hub.se         (the url is always changing so its best to check out whereisscihub.now.sh to find what the current url is)
Tumblr media
slap the article link in there
Tumblr media
bam! free access!

(btw this is applies more to colds, flus, etc. rather than more serious illnesses)
1. prioritize rest + food! if you keep staying up until 2 am every night barely eating anything, you’ll never get better. make sure you are eating well and getting rest!
2. do your best to still attend class (unless you’re very contagious or very sick). if you just have a cold that makes it hard to want to get out of bed you’ll probably want to skip all of your classes. only do this if you really have to, but if you realistically think you’ll be able to get through class, you should definitely go so you don’t get behind. (if you think it’s more worth it to stay home, do that instead)
3. if you do miss class, email your professor and text your friends. this way, your professor knows you aren’t simply skipping and your friends can text you the notes!
4. do your work in increments. when you’re sick, it’s v hard to do a bunch of work in one sitting because you get tired way more easily. try doing your work in bits and take lots of rest breaks so you don’t tire yourself out!
5. watch youtube videos rather than reading. like i said in #4, it’s so easy to get tired while you’re sick. while studying, try watching youtube videos that summarize the topic and limit your reading, because it is much easier to watch videos for an hour than to read for an hour!
6. study during times you’ll already be up. study during lunch, while you’re waiting for class to begin, etc. this way, you’ll still be studying the content without having to force yourself out of bed to do it!
7. if you know you won’t retain the information, just don’t study. if you’re forcing yourself to study in order to stay productive but you keep getting distracted and can’t remember what you just read, you’re much better off getting the rest you need.
8. prioritize!! don’t spend an hour making aesthetically pleasing notes if it barely helped you, do the most important task first in case you lose your stamina!

the holy grail of tumblr
students as months of the year
january: fresh journals, black and white notes, bullet journals filled with motivational quotes, cold brew coffee, loves writing letters, finishes everything on time, a daydreamer, seems laid back but really they’re stressed about everything
february: doodles in the margins of notes, the person who lends you their pens, sloppy handwriting, loves motivational speeches and classical music, finishes easy assignments early but writes their essay the night before its due,
march: straight A’s, study playlists, the teachers favorite, color coded notes, everyone thinks they’re naturally smart (but really they’re spending every night studying), forgets to eat sometimes, hasn’t slept for what feels like years
april: open windows, listening to the rain and thunder, tea pots full of earl grey, a functionally messy desk, fairy lights, always losing their pens, a huge nerd, afraid to raise their hand in class in case their answer is wrong
may: cramming for tests, lives in the library, highlighters and sticky notes everywhere, drinks espresso, would definitely consider bringing their coffee pot to school, messy desk, if an assignment is due at 9:00 they’ll submit it at 8:59
june: late nights, smoothies for breakfast, hanging out with friends, takes notes on their laptop, minimalist, organized, says they’re studying but they’re actually on studyblr, tries to study everything at once and gets distracted
july: staying up late to read, learning new languages, focuses on the learning and not the grade, watches documentaries for fun, loves the classics, owns a thousand pens, takes studyspo pictures, hundreds of unread emails,
august: stationery shopping, getting ahead in class, iced drinks, spending weekends with friends, takes very little notes but does well in class anyways, a relaxed personality, healthy snacks, the master of self care
september: a morning person, new pens and folders, a perfectionist, audio records classes and re-writes notes, over works themselves, loves the smell of new books, competitive, “i’m gonna fail!” but ends up getting A’s and B’s
october: chai lattes in travel mugs, will study for three days straight and then not study for a week, snacking in class, uses washi tape and stickers, sleeps for eight hours but is tired anyways, terrible at accepting compliments
november: gratitude journals, mental health days, the baristas at their local cafe know their name because they’re always studying there, study groups, loves to travel but never travels, cinnamon in their drinks, trouble sleeping, sweet smiles
december: hot chocolate, wrapped in a fluffy blanket, says they don’t care about grades but panics when they get less than a B, to-do lists, tutors their friends, watches movies in their free time, vanilla candles

Habits of successful students
Discipline: “discipline is doing what needs to be done, even when you don’t want to”, which means that you have to force yourself to start doing things.
Concentration: when you make a real effort in your work (study, homeworks etc…) you will be more likely to actually focus, understand and learn.
Organization: always set tasks and goals and organize a study-schedule. Maybe you don’t really want to plan all the week, but if you just wake up and open your agenda/bullet journal/iphone calendar and write down all the things you have to do, setting due dates and deadlines, you’ll feel more conscious and encouraged to stay on track.
Tasks-splitting: sometimes, you write down your tasks. Some of these tasks may be very hard and complicated, and it will take a long long time to complete them. So, you can split them in smaller tasks, so you will feel satisfied after a shorter period of time, instead of studying for hours and still seeing that chapter undone on your study-schedule.
Watch the sunrise: when I wake up late, I feel like I don’t have enought time to do my work and lose my motivation. I literally panic and then I think “whatever, I could not complete all the things anyway”. So, if you wake up earlier you will feel more positive and  controlled.
Smart reading: try not to read your textbook just like a newspaper. For every paragraph you read, try to underline and write down key words and then your question about that subject. Literally, turn your textbook into questions. If you write down question - particularly why…? - and think about the answer, you will be more likely to remember that stuff later.
Healthy lifestile: if you don’t drink enough water in the morning, you will be more likely to have a decrease of concentration in the afternoon/evening, so: stay hydrated. Try also to have some snaks every one-two hours: feed your brain.
