Depression & Smiles (Original Poem)
“Fake it.”
Mom says
Whenever I
Screamed
That I couldn’t
Do it,
“Fake it till you make it.”
When I was seven,
I taught myself
How to hide tears
By spraying water in my
Eyes and testing it
By talking to others
To see if they noticed.
“Be Happy!”
My brother says
Whenever I cry,
“You’ll be okay!”
When I was ten,
I would record
Myself fake laughing
On an ipad,
Then listen to it
Play back
To see if it was
Perfect.
“Smile!”
Dad says
Whenever he
Takes a picture,
“Say Cheese.”
When I was twelve,
I would mouth the word
Cheese as I stared into
The mirror
And then squint my eyes
Just a little
So I could fake
A smile
Until my cheeks hurt.
“Be whatever.”
Grandpa says
When he sees
Past my facade,
“Be who you want to be.”
When I was 15,
I took it to heart
And I found a dream,
That was all my own.
I found hope.
“I love you,”
 I say
When I visit him
Every few weeks,
“I love you, Grandpa.”
Then,
I smile.
I don’t need to say cheese
Or squint my eyes,
And when I laugh
At his jokes,
I don’t need to listen
To a recording to know
If it is perfect.
I don’t need to,
Because it is real.

Condemned (BBC’s Merlin Fanfiction)
A boy with blue eyes and raven black hair ran past the stables, fear in those blue orbs.
“How could you?”
A few guards were chasing him. It was midnight, and a few homeless folk scurried about, but none moved to help the boy.
“You’re a traitor!”
The boy’s eyes blazed golden for a moment, and both guards tripped on a rope.
“An evil sorcerer!”
The gate the boy was running to was slowly falling to the ground from its raised position.
“Why did I ever trust you?”
The boy didn’t stop, ducking underneath the gate just in time.
“I thought you were my friend.”
He didn’t look back as the gate slammed to the ground, trapping his pursuing captors.
“But I guess you’re not, are you?”
He didn’t rejoice.
“You don’t get it; I hate you, Merlin!”
For all he’d loved had been lost to him.
“For your sins against Camelot and myself, I condemn you to the pire,”

I love that scene! Also, I love this art! It’s AMAZING!
Tumblr media
[click for better res]
Does anyone else remember that scene in The Lost Hero where Leo seriously takes on an ice goddess with nothing but two tiny hammers and his flamin’ self? I just finished re-reading the book and that part really stood out to me so I wanted to draw it (any other artists out there who have advice on how to get a better res when transferring art please please let me know)

IT’S SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Amazing what two years of practice can do for you. I haven’t drawn these two in a long time but nostalgia recently told me I must. Plus it gave me a chance to redraw an old picture from 2016 so why not?

Defining Us
Names do not define us.
Appearances do not define us.
Sexuality does not define us.
Experiences do not define us.
Religion does not define us.
Hurt does not define us.
Intrusive thoughts do not define us.
But our choices & actions define us.
Because we say we are whoever we want to be, but, in the end, the only thing that matters is what we act upon.
After all, a man can call himself holy then proceed to kill thousands, but then... he isn’t holy is he?

Alone
Not long ago,
I was lost
And Alone.
Crying everyday,
The only thing I craved,
Was a friend to to light the way.
But I had to hide
So I could abide
By rules that weren’t mine.
I was forbidden
To show what I had hidden
By a parent wanting me to fit in.
I followed along unwillingly,
Wanting to be free,
But I still felt lonely.
My attempts to suppress,
Made everyday a test,
And miserable at best.
I had no one to listen,
So I delved into fiction.
To stop my tears that glistened.
One day I finally broke.
And torment awoke,
Making me feel no hope.
I was bullied for nine years.
Eventually I ran out of tears,
As everything became what I feared.
I wore bitterness as a mask
To hide the feelings that I had.
It only served to make others mad.
Then I met the other.
A loneliness tied us together,
For we both needed one another.
It didn’t end
At one friend.
Now I have about 10.
We are united,
By the fight,
To see the light.
And I am alone no longer.

There Are Things I Do Not Say (Trigger warning)
There are things I do not say.
Things that society forbids me to speak of.
Like that I am one of the 44.3 million people in America.
The unspeakable…
The invisible.
The mentally ill.
You have unjustifiably prosecuted us for centuries.
You’ve locked us in
Chains,
Asylums,
Prisons,
And so much worse.
There are things I do not say.
Like that we are continuously hunted down by your words.
You still lock us up.
It’s just a more metaphorical way.
Society says ‘psychopath’ instead of ‘murderer’,
They say ‘that’s so bipolar’
Instead of “You’re being indecisive’,
There are things I do not say.
Like that I was 5 years old,
And my doctor offered
To take the ‘burden’ from my parents,
And to lock me away.
Like how I wonder
How many 5 year olds
Parents said yes.
Like how I am so thankful,
My parents said no.
Like how I feel awful
For the kids who I
Could’ve been a prisoner with.
There are things I do not say.
Like the fact that when I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder when I was five,
Parents didn’t want their children near me.
Or like how police are poorly trained to handle the mentally ill,
Often shooting them for no reason beyond their own prejudice and fear.
Mentally ill children and teens die from police on the job all the time,
And no one cares.
No one speaks.
There are things I do not say.
Like the first time a doctor didn’t ask my name.
Like the way they don’t care about me.
Like how I’m often just a few words on a piece of paper.
Like how the psychiatric meds are trial and error.
Like how the doctors don’t know how the medicine works, just that it does,
And so what if it could have dangerous side effects?
It works.
There are things I do not say.
Like the way I was told at the age of 12
That god doesn’t make mistakes,
And therefore did not make me.
Like how I was classified as the worst behaved child in the classroom
Before I even stepped in the school for the first time.
Like how you didn’t hear my 10 year old voice
When I screamed and sobbed in my room,
 ‘Why me?’
‘Why can’t I be normal?’
There are things I do not say,
Like how my rights for HIPAA,
Were violated by my teachers,
And despite the bullying that insued,
Nobody would do anything.
Like how when I begged my teacher
To listen when I was sexually humiliated
On school grounds,
She thought I was attention seeking.
Like how I was sexually assaulted,
And no one cared until my parents
Threatened to sue.
There are things I do not say.
Things society forbids me to speak of.
So many things I do not say.
That I can’t list them all
In a million years….
And they are killing me inside.
I’m sick of being invisible!
And so I’m showing my scars
From klutz and cut,
And I’m embracing
My hurt,
My hope,
My bipolar
And myself.
And above all,
I’m saying,
I’m shouting,
I’m screaming,
The unspeakable’s stories.
The invisible’s stories.
The mentally ill’s stories.
So that they
So that I
Can be heard.
There are things I do not say.
There are things I do not say.
There are things I do not say.
There are things I do not say.
There are things I do not say.
There are things I do not say.
There are things I do not say.
There are things I do not say.
There are things I do not say.
There are things I do not say.
There are things I do not say.
There are things I do not say.
NO!
There are things that I will say.

Dream Land (Original Poem)
There is a place,
Among the stars,
Over the rainbow,
And I look for it from afar.
A place called Dreamland,
Where wishes come true.
It shimmers brightly,
As all dreams do.
It helps grant one’s deepest desire’s,
When they make a wish,
To the night sky,
And it brings them only bliss.
It’s a beautiful palace built on hope,
With a stunning queen,
She is graceful and humble,
And caring as can be.
She works hard to help others,
And vanquish the places our doubts lurk.
Though she tries to do as much as she can,
She does not do all the work.
You see this queen grants strength,
And love too,
But in the end,
It’s up to you.

Sailing Dreams (An original poem)
I set sail
Looking for
Something that
I knew not.
I knew not
If I would
find the joy
Others had found.
Others had found
Wonderful things
Their faces were
Seen with these
Joyful smiles
Joyful smiles
I wanted
A part of
For myself
For myself…
Possibly
That’s why I
Didn’t find it
Didn’t find it
For so long
I felt like
I was lost
I was lost
And that’s how
I found it…
Happiness
Happiness
Is not found
In greed or
Selfishness
Selfishness
Brings nothing
But kindness
Brings that joy
Brings that joy
That I saw
On the faces
Of the kind
Of the kind
Whom I had
Become after
I set sail
I set sail
Looking for
Something that
I knew not.
I knew not
Why I chose
To Return
To Return
Home with joy
And kindness.
I did so,
With a dream
With a dream
To spread this
New kindness
Around the world
Around the world
You can spread
And discover
Happiness
Too.

Percy: And that’s why Camp Half Blood is on fire.
Chiron: ....
Chiron: *facepalms*
Jason: You got yourself a coffee?
Hazel: Yeah. Double espresso.
Jason: A double espresso?
Hazel: Well, you’re one who’s telling me to like, try new things all the time.
Jason : Yeah but I meant vegetables and stuff, not stimulants, you’ve never had caffeine before, I-
Hazel: Don’t get in a state. I only drank half of it.
Jason: Oh. Okay.
Hazel: Leo drank the other half.
Jason: You let Leo drink a double espresso??
Leo: It tasted horrible to begin with, but then I added five spoonfuls of sugar and now I feel all zingy zangy zongy!
Jason: Zingy. Zangy. Zongy.
Leo: I feel like lightning!
Jason:
Jason: Oh my god.

Wandering
You wander here,
You wander there,
You wander,
Wander everywhere.
The sights to see
Never please
The bitter greedy heart's
Cruel tease.
You wander,
Wander
Back home,
And you notice
You were never
All alone.
You chose your path.
You felt greed's wrath.
Now you feel like
You've been lost,
To be found at last.
