and when you get to the past you realize you land on the day your dad goes on a business trip your dad never comes home from, so you “coincidentally” find your kid self as he says goodbye to his dad, and you ask your family if they’d like to have a picture taken together before your dad leaves for the trip. so now in the present you have one last picture with your dad

Look. I have been a Chalastor shipper for literal years. All the way back when the pilot came out. I adored them and actually thought there was a chance they’d become canon. I’ve always had so many concepts in my head for them. 

This chaotic neutral force there to fuck with the other character only to realize he actually wants to see her succeed. 

The idea of Charlie successfully saving a sinner and suddenly, Alastor sees her in a whole new light. He looks at her and she’s glowing. Just.. AHHH. It is so cute!

But, uh… things are a bit complicated now. So.. I guess let’s talk about it. 

But, obviously, I can’t talk about Chalastor without talking about their two most popular ships. 

I’ll start with Radiodust, since I have the least to say about it. 

I never got it. Alastor has always been very clearly a sex repulsed asexual, and Angel is a horny ass pornstar. Plus, I’ve always shipped Huskerdust. But I’ve always liked the dynamic idea of Alastor and Angel, but I cannot for the life of me think of them in a romantic light. 

Now Chaggie..

For the longest time, I didn’t even know they were dating. The pilot kept it very on the DL, so I never even realized until months after the pilot when someone told me they were canonically dating. 

And even after that, I couldn’t ship them. 

But now the show is out, and they have more scenes! Surely-

Oh, no, they’re still bland..

They are one of the most boring, vanilla ships.. ever. And I want to love the ship, I really do. And I’ve tried. But I cannot. They just.. aren’t my thing. But that doesn’t mean I hate the ship at all! I just.. don’t go out looking for fanart or comics of them. 

But Chalastor just scratches my brain in such a nice, satisfying way. It always has. 

But, now that the episode, Dad Beat Dad is out.. things are complicated. 

At first, I thought they were pulling the “Lucifer thinks Alastor is flirting with Charlie and was ready to go all ‘shotgun dad’ on him, but then is relieved to realize she is with Vaggie.” Especially because of the way Alastor touched Charlie’s shoulder and leaned in. But, no, that’s not what they did. When he met Vaggie, there didn’t seem to be relief, but awkwardness to meet the girl his daughter is dating. 

So that means he never considered the idea that Charlie and Alastor were together. So that means from the very beginning he saw Alastor as competition as the fatherly figure in Charlie’s life. Which.. says a lot for how they appear to others within universe. Because if I saw someone touch someone’s shoulder like that and lean in, I’d assume flirting. But that wasn’t an option that Lucifer even had in his mind. So, how do they appear to seem to the characters in this universe? They look like a father and daughter..

And that’s just.. woof. Not great. 

And don’t even get me started on Chalastor shippers making this into a daddy kink. 

The most I like is the memes that say “Your daughter calls me daddy too” because it’s funny, but anyone taking it seriously and making it into an actual thing is just.. I’m not a fan. Especially since Alastor is a sex repulsed asexual. 

Now, I know I’m going to get people saying “Oh, Alastor was just acting that way to fuck with Lucifer!” and I know that, but the fact that the very idea that they could have a father-daughter relationship and everyone in universe taking that idea seriously says a lot and makes shipping them.. complicated. 

So, what now? Well, I’m still going to ship it. Just.. tentatively. And as for everyone else.. do whatever you want, idc.

I really REALLY hate those kinds of stupid “hot take” posts. I think they’re just garbage to purposely farm more discourse to cause infighting, but I’ve been holding this in for so long and I need to get it out of my system so here it goes.

Alastor fans are allowed to dislike Valentino. Valentino was made to be a dislikable Villain while Alastor BY VIV’S OWN WORDS is a chaotic neutral antihero based off of Dexter with a moral code. Of course people are gonna like Alastor more than Valentino. The antihero/vigilante is a very popular beloved trope. I mean just look at Magneto and Venom.

You guys claim to want more nuanced characters but when we try and tell you that Alastor is more nuanced BASED OFF OF EVIDENCE FROM THE CREATOR and little possible context clues in the show we get accused of “babying/woobifying him”(as if Val fans haven’t done that to Val). This isn’t a hit piece against all Val fans/simps btw. I may hate that moth, but you guys should be allowed like him without receiving hate and or death threats.

It’s not “hypocrisy” to dislike Valentino or the Vees and like Alastor for the reasons I said above and the four of them aren’t comparable. Yeah they share some traits but overall the only thing Alastor and the Vees have in common are the mistreatment of the souls they own. Like I said, Val fans shouldn’t be attacked for liking him but the thing is…if you’re gonna preach those words then do the same for Alastor fans/simps because we get attacked too.

(Again it’s not all Val stans but it sure it a lot of them. I’ve all so seen Val haters do it too.) Yall claim not to harass people over fictional characters yet will go under Alastor posts and or discussion threads and be like “Uhm actually him and Valentino are the same🤓☝️”.

“He’s worse than Val” “Why can’t we just have a good villain” “Just accept that Alastor is a villain stop babying him” when we’re just minding our own business. Not to mention people going under fanart of Angel! Alastor and being like “erm actually he’d never go to heaven🤪”.

Along with yall bullying the hell out of Alastor selfshippers/simps and using tumblr sexyman as an insult(which reaks of internalized misogyny btw because majority of Alastor simps are women + women are always the first to be made fun of when it comes to characters that Classify as tumblr sexymen being found attractive by them or any character you personally wouldn’t find attractive.)

And yall going around and keep calling Alastor ugly under posts about people gushing about him and i don’t mean lighthearted jokes either because i make fun of the back of his head sometimes too. And full blown harassment. When an Alastor fan provided evidence of Alastor being a more nuanced character which were clips from Viv’s streams, people in the comments and qrts were being extremely rude and dismissive. It got so bad that op deleted the og tweet.

Don’t go around and claim to be against cringe culture but then make fun of people for finding Alastor attractive. And for goodness sake STOP FUCKING CALLING HIM A SLAVE OWNER. And yes he owns souls but that doesn’t matter.

Alastor is canonically half black and its overall disgusting to slap the label “slave owner” onto him knowing damn well that he grew up in the Jim Crow era of America in the Deep South of Louisiana. His existence as a mixed black person back then was basically considered an abomination. With how terrible it was for black people back then, Alastor probably bore witness to a lot of messed up shit growing up and if that’s the case then it’s no wonder he’s so messed up in the head.

This type of behavior has been going on since the days where we only had the pilot and it’s only gotten worse since the show came out. As soon as I saw that scene with husk and Alastor in hell’s greatest dad I automatically knew what was coming. I’m not saying that Alastor Is a good person nor am I saying that what he did to husk was ok. But to go after/make fun of Alastor fans,purposely denying evidence of his character while in the same breath preach against bullying people over liking certain characters makes YOU the hypocrites. So much for anti-harassment. I’m tired. Bye.

I am always amazed when people say these kind of things to me. It means everything to me to know I can bring even just a little bit of joy to someone through my passion, so I would like to say thank you to you 💕.

Agreed. Andrew is my favorite version of Peter, the vibe of his movies really speak to me. I love the scene you’ve mentioned, but it breaks my heart because of Gwen’s fate. However I would love to do that for Miles and Gwen. Right now I’ve got a lot of pieces in progress, so don’t expect it right away, but if I find a chance to do it I will ✨

I really enjoyed drawing their kiddos and had every intention of drawing them differently from the comics. I wanted to do my own interpretation of their kids since the spiderverse style if different from the comics. I actually based Gwen’s braids on some of her concept art, I loved that look (it’s viking-ish which I dig) so I wanted to do something with it.

Though Miles and Gwen 42 are not exactly canon, I still love the idea of them and so I’m glad you have enjoyed what I have made.

So clips of the new Miraculous: Ladybug and Cat Noir: The Movie that’s scheduled to come out soon has been trending on my Twitter feed for the past few days and I gotta say this.

I feel like Miraculous is gonna have the reverse effect to what happened with the Tales of Arcadia trilogy.

With Tales of Arcadia, it had a banger animated series with a nearly flawless story that spanned three epic shows; each equally great and enjoyable to watch but ultimately had a dog shit movie that united all TOA fans in denying this film's very existence cause it essentially killed the entire franchise for folks.

(Seriously, till this day, I don’t think I’ve met any TOA fan who genuinely thought the Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans film was good. NO ONE LIKED THIS MOVIE...PARTICULARLY AFTER THE ENDING)

But for Miraculous, with what I saw, it's looking to have a banger animated film that, for a moment, will make bitter oldie fans like myself forget about the disappointing mess the animated series spiraled into ESPECIALLY after S3.

Talking personally, I feel like the ML Movie might just rekindle my love for ML after the show killed it in S3. From the little clips I saw teased on Twitter, it's genuinely looking to be a sweet film with the love square scenes actually being legit wholesome and showing actual chemistry (and romantic tension) between both of our titular heroes.

Ladynoir ACTUALLY have cute flirtatious banter and Ladybug actually acts like she genuinely enjoys Cat Noir's company instead of seeming annoyed with his overall existence as her so-called partner in crime-fighting unlike in the show (well... at least BEFORE S5 as I heard through the grape vine).

There is no denying how much I don't like Miraculous anymore for how its writing deteriorated over the seasons which for me is a darn shame cause, hand over heart, I used to FREAKING LOVE this show!

Those of you who've been following me since my Miraculous days would remember how much of big miraculer this squiggle meister was.

I drew fanart of it for 3 years for pete's sake. So it sucked for me when the writing got so unenjoyable for me that I had to drop it.

But not lying to tell you, the movie is pulling me back in. Right now, the movie feels like such a far cry from the show that it is at least deserving of a check out.

To me, it's looking like the movie is what Miraculous SHOULD have been with really hammering into the sweet wholesome romance between our two young heroes.

I mean...my ass could be wrong but I'll still give it a watch out of legit curiosity. At least the animation is looking gorgeous.

So it'll be on my radar come it’s official release on July 28th this year on Netflix.

Never thought I'd be interested in ML again after so long but here I am again.

I didn't complete my (self-appointed) assignment for Destiel Day, which was to compile a complete list of every time Destiel went canon (thus breaking one of the Sixty-Six Seals: when they all fall, the pale coconuts will collide), with nice gifs. To me, Destiel is "canonized" by persons/entities who officially create and distribute the show: producers, writers, actors, directors, other crew, translators, and networks.

November 5, 2020, 15x18, “Despair”: Cas declares his love.

Nov. 11, 2020: Misha Collins at DCLOnline: “It was a long time in the making. It was really important to [Robert Berens] and really important to me. “This doesn’t mean anything,” Hermie said, arms crossed firmly across his chest after handing Normal his script. “And remember- we’re NOT actually doing the kiss. Just lean in to mime it so we can still get the pacing right. Got it?”

“Uh, r-right,” Normal said as he took the script from Hermie and looked it over. “I, uh, kinda got it the first three times you told me, Hermie.”

Oh. Huh.

“...Well, I just don’t want you to get the wrong idea. This is a strictly professional practice,” Hermie continued as if he wasn’t trying to cover the blunder of overcompensation. “I’m only asking you because I know the others would complain. You’re simply the least difficult option, and I’m not going to let a few inconveniences get in the way of getting my roles.”

“Right, yeah, I understand,” Normal nodded, his head remaining slightly bowed as he looked over the script. “I’ve been keepin’ up with doing my homework and updating my fanfiction the whole time, too, so I get it. And I’m still happy to help! So, uh, let the show begin…?”

Hermie sighed, and the two began the scene. 

Really, Normal wasn’t the worst rehearsal partner in the world. He honestly put a lot more passion and enthusiasm into reading for his character than most would if they weren’t trying out for a role themselves, and Hermie couldn't deny potential where he saw it. Sure, Normal wasn’t great either- he leaned a bit TOO far into passion and definitely oversold a few lines, and had a tendency to stumble over his words when he got too excited and started talking too quickly, but it was clear it all came from a place of genuine enthusiasm…

As Hermie put it once before, Normal really was the heart of the group.

He cared. And he cared to a fault, really. Hermie didn’t understand how one person could burn so much energy towards caring about other people - what they said, what they did, what they thought of him, how they were feeling… It was all exhausting to Hermie, but to Normal, it seemed to be second nature.

Hermie leaned in on cue.

Normal mirrored him, leaning in and pausing about halfway as previously discussed.

Hermie, lost in thought and used to committing to his roles 100%, did not pause. In fact, he hadn’t even realized his own blunder until he heard the soft and surprised gasp escape the lips that his own had just bumped into.

Normal was looking at Hermie with wide eyes, and backed up a few inches moments after their lips brushed together. “I-I’m sorry, Hermie!” He said, anxiously fidgeting with the script in his hands. “I thought I stopped far back enough- Did I go too far!?”

Hermie remained frozen in place, his own eyes widening in surprise as he looked up into Normal's flustered face. He said nothing for a moment, watching, processing…

“...Hermie…?” Normal asked quietly after a few beats of silence. “A-are you alright? I swear, I really didn’t mean to-!”

Normal’s anxious prattling was cut off by Hermie’s lips gently, yet intentionally colliding with his again, Hermie’s hands moving to cup the sides of Normal’s face.

Hermie thought Normal’s eyes couldn’t have gone any wider than they already were, but that was apparently a lie, as when he pulled away again, Normal had the most bug-eyed expression on his face that Hermie had ever seen in his life.

“Wh- Buh- Hermie?! Wha?! Hermie!?” Normal sputtered, face flushed as beads of sweat began to form on his brow.

“Yes, that’s my name. Don’t wear it out.” Hermie responded plainly.

“I-I thought… You said you didn’t wanna do the kiss! And that time was DEFINITELY you that leaned forward!”

Hermie huffed a sigh in response. “I’m aware, Normal…” He could feel a grumpy pout forming on his face and his heart hammering in his chest… Yeah, it didn’t make sense, but…

Well, Hermie didn’t want to think about the details. Not now.

Right now, all he wanted to do was… Practice…

“I changed my mind,” Hermie shrugged. “So… Let’s do that again, from the top. All of it.” Hermie eyed Normal as he spoke, gauging to see if perhaps the poor guy would be too overwhelmed to continue.

But, in typical Normal Oak fashion, Hermie was met with a strange mix of bewilderment yet determination. 

“...Uh, yeah. Yeah! Let’s keep… Practicing…!” Normal said with what he probably thought was a confident smile.

Hermie elected to ignore the fluttering in his chest at such an awkwardly endearing sight, and started their scene again from the top.

(This post is written very clumsily, because I’m way too distractable today. It starts as an Edward Hyde & Dorian Gray post, then turns into Just Dorian Gray. Tired of dicking around with the draft, though.)

I enjoy comparing Edward Hyde to Dorian Gray and imagining interactions between the two. But there’s a contrast I have as … I dunno, a headcanon, maybe? It’s been a while since I read The Picture of Dorian Gray, so I’m possibly misremembering, or maybe I kinda remember and just think I’m making it up, or … I dunno. I’m not eloquent today. WHATEVER! It’s this:

So, Edward Hyde tends to give off an unsettling vibe when people interact with him. Even if he hasn’t said or done anything unusual, people get … put ill-at-ease around him. They’re thinking, “There’s something off about that guy. I can’t put my finger on what it is, but … I should tread cautiously.” (That’s pretty much the impression I get from the book—the “impression of deformity without any nameable malformation”; “none could come near to me at first without a visible misgiving of the flesh.”)

Dorian Gray, on the other hand, doesn’t give off that vibe. For starters, he’s not “pure evil,” as Jekyll described Hyde to be. Also, he’s damn good-looking—he looks about 19 or 20 and is breathtakingly beautiful. He has charisma, and he doesn’t change. People look at him and DON’T think, “There couldn’t be anything wrong with that guy,” and they DON’T think it, because why would that thought EVER cross their mind? The people who are off-put by him are only the ones who have a history with him, or know his history. If he does give off a vibe, it’s due to charisma and it’s to the positive effect.

Hyde naturally pushes people away; Gray naturally draws them in.

I bring this up, because I’ve seen lots of fanart of Gray (referring, here, to him the person, not the portrait), and most of them are done in a way to give off an unsettling vibe. And, while they’re good pictures, it does irk me a little, because to my understanding, that’s not really the case with him. The guy you saw the day his portrait was finished is what you also see 15 years later. The only ways to know the truth about him are:

- getting his history secondhand;

- interacting with him enough times and staying sharp;

- seeing his portrait.

For the same reason, I’m not the biggest fan of the portrayal of him in the movie League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. It’s fine that they aged him up, as … well, it could get creepy if he looked too young. But the portrayal gave off a sinister feeling. I didn’t even know the story or character when I saw the movie, and I was getting that vibe.

So, I REALLY appreciate it when there’s no impression that something’s off with him in art.

(Exceptions would be, say, specific scenes where his behavior shows his true colors. No way would he look pleasant and harmless while murdering Basil.)

How do you make sure the character progress hits just right? 

So, first, so glad that it hits right. But also, I think a big part of it is making sure that the progress costs something? Changing for good or ill is a process and having it be earned I think is important.

How far in advance have you created these storylines? 

Varies wildly by character. I had the main beats of Marcy's arc since I was outlining Season 1. This whole storyline for Sprig spawned while I was writing the penultimate scene chapter 19 of aWIW (Where Anne catches Hop Pop trying to steal the box). I realized that with Anne going to be exiting the story for a while in the finale there would be no one to really hold Hop Pop to account. Then while I was writing fort in the road, I realized I could give the whole thing nuance with Sprig being so blindly supportive of Marcy that he could hurt her without meaning to

Honestly originally I had jumped into the fandom during the season 3 hiatus I was writing Picking up the Pieces when I saw a piece of Swap AU fanart by 5d-Theater (Where Marcy's Pre-Toad Tower and Sasha's armor Design came from). And my mind started clicking away at how much things could go differently. It became something I focused on so hard that I almost didn't write the finale for PutP. The more I sketched out the more I really liked how the swap would effect all three of the girls' arcs. My brain would not let it go, so I just gave in and started outlining season 1 

Do you do this like a hobby or something of the sort bc I really like you writing, you either have an experience or a talent (maybe both) 

Thank you so much! This is really flattering! To answer your question, I've been writing fanfic off and on since I was 14 there abouts? So it's been a while. I stopped for several years, but HRT absolutely obliterated my writers block as my brain chemistry finally started to work which was also coincidently back when I started watching Amphibia.

Thanks so much for the interest in my little drawings Alondra! I don’t mind sharing which parts inspired me, I’ve been contemplating about switching off anon to reply and maybe even share you some of the drawings. Honestly when you mentioned Miguel in a chunky turtleneck sweater at the end of part 6 for the Christmas part I immediately drew him in it and was really contemplating sending it to you for the story (maybe I will still!). ✨

Some parts that inspired me to draw out are from part 1, when Miguel puts a hand on reader’s forehead (so sweet!) and Miguel in reader’s kitchen. When I was reading that scene I had to sketch up something, seeing Miguel just tower over a small kitchen is so cute. I’ve drawn quite a few little sketches of Miguel from the POV of reader, really wanting to capture his subtle little expressions he makes, his subtle glances… I’ve been starting out rough sketches for the parts where Miguel and reader are on the rooftop in part 5, Miguel and reader in front of the beautiful ofrenda from part 6, and there’s plenty of other scenes I want to sketch out! Honestly for most of these drawings I haven’t finished coloring them yet because that’s my least favorite part of finishing artwork. I feel a little nervous showing my art sometimes… But, your writing has truly inspired me so much! I haven’t drew this much fan art in awhile. I love drawing Miguel, his facial structure and eyes, (I agree) so pretty!!! But at the same time when I draw him I want to get his face right, like I just want to make sure I capture him correctly. OMG just saw your post and got me remembering what I was about to ask. Been busy with school and making fanarts 😓 Okay, this is for both IronPetals and Edelweiß, what will you guys do during Christmas? Any activities you have in mind, perhaps?

(That’s okay! You should be focusing on important things. I’ve been loving your fanart by the way, you always do such a beautiful job💖) First is Edelweiß with Primis Edward.

I didn’t put much thought into holidays. But to my surprise, Madeline also had considered Christmas to be a difficult time of year. We decided from this point onward to make sure our Christmases would always be filled with joy, all to make up for what we’ve endured.

One of our favorite things to do it go to New York City. It’s organized as follows: Visit the Christmas Tree in Rockefeller Center, then attend Bryant Park’s Christmas Fair, go to the Japanese bookstore that’s nearby and then finish the evening with a nice dinner. I would say my favorite part has to be the park because the atmosphere is so cheerful, there’s an ice skating rink und the lights are spectacular. I also really enjoy sharing a dessert crepe with her.

And then dragging him to Nintendo World!

Oh, goodness. Pardon me, I almost forgot the part when I have to make sure I don’t lose her among the crowd because someone wants to go to Nintendo.

But… Super Mario.

We have Mario at home! You do not need 20 Marios in your room! Silly.💕 As I was saying, we also love decorating the whole house for Christmas, followed by me helping her bake. Half the time, we sneak downstairs by the Christmas tree to enjoy it. There’s something about those colored lights that brighten up the mood. We always end up falling asleep. I…usually fall asleep on her chest. She keeps me warm in the winter. And she also teases I have doctor hands because they’re cold. I can’t stay mad knowing I have a human radiator by my side.

I am looking forward to baking year, she said she’d make little gingerbread teddy bears! How wunderbar to finally have a teddy bear that doesn’t invoke anger in me!

I haven’t made gingerbread before, so I hope it comes out good.

She was also really sweet to share her Advent Calendar with her. I feel bad though… Had to buy a new one after I sort of ate the whole thing. Tank Dempsey doesn’t do well with patience. I did buy a new one and a chocolate Santa as an apology.

Of course I would, sweetheart! But you deserve better than that. Honestly, I can’t think of anything else since I’m too busy focusing on what to get her this year. I’ve seen a lot of people on social media say that the way buddie is being treated in s6 so far is how sterek was treated in s3 of teen wolf. Which was they were purposely and deliberately separated for pettiness by the writers and an insistence to make people stop shipping sterek. I didn’t watch teen wolf but is this an accurate accusation to make of how alarming it is that buddie haven’t had a meaningful conversation after the premiere in s6 yet every other pair of characters has.

anyway, i had never actually considered this but perhaps from a very basic overview of the season with no knowledge of sterek, that's what this looks like. yes, it's frustrating they haven't had meaningful conversation and that it seems like they're being kept apart, but the very key difference is that 911 has not made any interviews having oliver and ryan cuddling with each other to promote the show, or hyping up awards where buddie was nominated for best ship, or tweeting about buddie constantly because that's where a lot of their viewers come from.

i didn't want teen wolf s3 live, but i did watch from end of s4, and even in season 5 and 6, when tyler hoeclin (derek hale) had left the show, they were still queerbaiting and keeping the ship relevant (x x).

(also, sterek were kept separate for much of the second half of s3, not so much 3a)

so, yes, in one sense it could feel like they're treating buddie the way they treated sterek by keeping them apart. but buddie is not even CLOSE to being queerbaited the way sterek was. also, buck and eddie didn't have as many big moments in s5a as they did in s5b. i think we need to all look at s5 as an example of how well 911 does dissonance and separation so that when everything falls back into place together, it's that much more rewarding. like, seeing eddie and buck working together at a fire for the first time in an entire season in may day was so. fucking. good. 911 has a tendency to pull characters apart only to bring them back together (and we as a fandom have a tendency to get antsy about that because we forget).

is it annoying? yes. do i think it's what happened with sterek? no. especially when sterek didn't have nearly as many canon roots as buddie does (sure, it's implied that stiles was derek's anchor, but eddie point blank said buck is christopher's legal guardian).

another thing with teen wolf is that sterek got HUGE very quickly, and when the show realized that they kind of cut sterek off cold turkey (most of the sterek fandom is based around head canons anyway). buddie has been building and building steadily since s2, and the fandom has only grown with the show and the seasons. if the writers hated buddie and didn't want people shipping it, they wouldn't have given us the tsunami arc, 'wanna go for the title?', the well scene, the shooting, the will, eddie's breakdown, co-parenting, the couch convo, etc. sterek was s1-2 heavy because when they realized the fandom was getting genuinely big, they said 'oh fuck this' and went heavy on the stalia and the stydia and gave derek a love interest that wasn't batshit insane.

honestly, watching a show with hopes that a non canon lgbt ship is going to get together can sometimes be incredibly frustrating, disheartening, and it can seriously ruin the show for you because you feel kind of cheated out of representation that's so glaringly obvious how could they not see it! and i get you. i am you. but at the same time, if you're losing hope and it's making you sad that every week they seem to distance themselves, maybe you should stop watching with the hopes that they get together, and start watching to make fun little headcanons and write little spec fics. the best part of fandom, in my opinion, isn't just the getting to see your ship kiss on screen part. there's fics and edits and fanart and gifs and so many ways to engage with the content aside from just viewing it. it's truly so wonderful.

personally, i do think buddie will get together and i don't see similarities to sterek. sure, they're both popular non-canon mlm ships, but i have a lot more faith in buddie than i EVER had in sterek. we'll be good :)

anyway tl;dr, i don't think this is the same thing as sterek because, despite the distance, nothing else is being treated the same. 911 is just doing what 911 does best—making us sit and wait because we know the reward will be so worth it in the long run.

Ok ok so hi I need some help over here.

So since the ROTTMNT movie is coming out I’ve been looking back at old fan content I enjoyed and I remembered this one tmnt fanfic I really liked but I can’t seem to find it anywhere? I don’t remember the name but I remember seeing fanart (or just art idk) for it and it was pre Cassandra Jones reveal so the Casey here is a fan Casey and not either of the Rise Casey’s. Just to be clear.

So some things I remember are that there’s a part where Raph goes to a plant store to buy some succulents with the others. It was mainly Raph focused and was an AU where mutants and humans and yokai coexisted. Casey or their family owned the plant shop and Raph and Casey become friends and do some vigilante stuff I think. Another scene I remember, that I saw some art for, was a scene with Raph and Donnie in the car and now that I’m typing this I remember that it’s cause D wanted to come with Raph and Casey and I think Raph was grounded at this point??? Maybe???

2. Where do you get your fic ideas?

Good question...from everywhere and everything? My first two ATLA fics, Midnight Meditations and The Waterbender's Heart, were missing scene fics inspired by the amazing fanart by PottyosPanna and my burning need for more Book 3 Kataang content. The idea for Lullaby for the Departed came out of a conversation with @itsmoonpeaches. Scars was written in response to an incredibly bad fandom take that Katara should have had scars from the episode where Aang accidentally burned her. This was also the fic where I hc that Aang's scar is also a dead nerve area, so I wrote Numb as a result. I've had the idea for Drag You Down since my early fandom days, when I tried to imagine what could break up a relationship like Kataang. The first few chapters were especially hard for me to write as a Kataang softie, so I wrote several fluffy Book 3 missing scenes during that time to get me through.

34. How much of your personal life/experience do you include in your fics?

Quite a bit, actually! I always aim to write in a way that is realistic and compelling, so I draw heavily on my life experiences and the experiences of others - like romantic entanglements, miscarriage, and injury. More recently, I’ve been incorporating personal life experience that is more specific to who I am - mainly, the way war has shaped the lives of people directly affected by the conflict, or in less direct ways such as through displacement, the necessity of assimilation, cultural disconnect, and the effects of war that echo down through generations. War has defined my own family history, which is something I took for granted because that history has always been there, but exploring that history through writing has helped me connect to that part my heritage. 

My Song-centric fic, To Owe an Ostrich Horse, is the best example of this - it is essentially a Chinese wartime story based on my own family and friends, their experiences, and my own exposure to Chinese wartime stories and movies. Drag You Down will also incorporate war-related themes, which I hope to weave into the narrative seamlessly so that it makes sense for Aang and Katara’s characters and the rest of the cast. I won’t get into it too much right now since I’ve only posted a few chapters so far, but I’d like to explore it with more depth than we saw in ATLA or the comics. Even with all that, the main focus of DYD will still be full of the break up/pining/angst etc that you love, so don’t worry about that part HAHAHA!

73. What do you tend to get complimented on the most about your writing?

The compliment I hear most is that my writing evokes strong emotions, and compliments like that evoke strong emotions in me 😭 The other one I hear a lot is “well-written”....which I’m not exactly sure how to take LOL. I guess it’s good that the person thinks I write well, but I don’t know if there’s anything else in there that they like 🤣 I don’t usually get attention for my writing style itself, probably because my style is kind of “invisible,” which is intentional. I focus on using just enough words (and no more words than necessary) and to use them in a way so that the reader experiences what the character is experiencing. This isn’t better or worse than other writing styles - it just happens to be my style.

Ryn Harrington - Homework 01: Tumblr & Bio

Hey there, I’m Ryn. I’m a 22 year old transmasc entering the final semester of my bachelors degree, but it’s not in art. I’m a Cellular and Molecular Biology major, with all of my previous studies in Genetics and Biotechnology. I currently work in a genetics lab on campus studying the link between embryonic muscle function and the development of skeletal structure (It’s super fun). Despite being a STEMlord, though, I’ve always been an avid artist, and have been creating traditional art since I was in elementary school. I picked up a drawing tablet when I was 14, and that was that. Consider me a jack of all trades.

This image is more a location that spoke to me than it is geographically where I’m from. This is an abandoned missile silo found through urban exploring, something that I thoroughly enjoy doing and never end up getting enough of. I tend to consider myself someone that exists on the fringes of the world, within the uninhabited and abandoned, making a home there just for me. Link to the original post [here].

Here we have Mordecai and Rigby.... holding... stuff. All jokes aside, this is one of my favorite pieces I’ve made recently, and it’s honestly just because of how dynamic and fluid my character poses look. I struggle with stiffness and lack of movement, and I broke through that artist’s block just to make this. I also find that in this piece, I was able to start giving it perspective and depth, which is something I struggle to do in other pieces.

The rest of these images are examples of what I usually create. Although I like these, I feel that they lack movement and perspective. There’s just something missing there.

One of my biggest inspirations to animate and draw (and one of my biggest inspirations in general) is the show Mob Psycho 100. The animation style that Studio BONES uses to portray scenes is dynamic, colorful, emotionally moving, and visually stunning. The characters and settings move fluidly in visual space, and there is no stiffness; they are full of life. I’ve always wanted to create work like this, and when I picture myself animating, I picture drawing scenes like the ones you see here. There is no link to a page, as this is an animation studio. 

> TEXT 01: CHALLENGES & FAILURES

Challenging myself usually means making a healthy comparison. When I see an artist whose style, flow, and creative process I admire, I challenge myself to create pieces in a similar way in order to push my creative process forward. I have a few unfinished pieces inspired by, honestly, fanart I saw that I really liked. When I see others making work that I’d like to create, I like to turn it into creative fuel. I find that a lot of artists go, “I can’t ever draw like that,” or “My art will never be that good,” and that’s setting yourself up for failure before you even start. When I see art that’s better than mine, I treat it as a challenge. I think, “I can make this. I can work to create something like this, maybe even better.” And even if I don’t end up creating what I pictured, it’s still progressing my skills and pushing the boundaries of what I’m comfortable creating.

I find that failure coincides with challenging myself. I will admit that I’m a bit of a perfectionist-quitter combo, and bite off more than I can chew a lot of the time. That leads to me giving up halfway, and never really finishing my “challenges.” I suppose this is something I’m still working on. I love the idea of challenging myself, and get excited about pushing my boundaries, but get stuck in the implementation. Because of this, I’ve stopped treating unfinished work like a failure. Unfinished work is still an attempt, and it’s better that I put tablet pen to paper than create nothing at all. This is why I posted works in progress here. I’ve stopped viewing the things I create as “failures” when they don’t turn out the way I want them to be, because the only failure, in my eyes, is not creating anything at all.
