Boy howdy okay *cracks knuckles* I'm gonna forewarn this with my takes on the turtles and Murder is not exactly the popular opinion so take it as you will.

First and foremost for any of the turtles to commit a PREMEDITATED murder (assuming we are talking strictly canon) the only one who would actually plan and go through with this is Leo. "What about Donnie?" No. He wouldn't. Leo on the other hand has shown the kind of rage he goes into not only when his family is in explicit danger but when he believes someone is specifically responsible for that. I don't think murder would be the first thing he jumps to, and it would take quite the scenario for it to wrap around to that (i.e. and enemy that keeps coming back and hurting them) but it's not off the table.

This makes him also number one to kill someone due to a fit of protective anger. So like, if you're gonna taunt a hamato while playing with their lives I wouldn't recommend doing so without knowing where Leo is.

And second is Raph, kind of a similar scenario, but I think Raph's would stem more from fear than direct anger. Frightened that if he doesn't do something, things will get worse, and in a fit of panicked rage well...

Third is Mikey, shocker. It would take a LOT to snap Mikey into a state where he's pissed off enough to actually kill someone but like, we DID see his reaction to his favorite pizza places getting torn down. I feel if at any point he concluded there was no longer a peaceful solution to a fight, he'd bring down the axe.

And my unpopular opinion is that Donnie is at the bottom of this list. MAINLY because he has so many other methods at his disposal to handle enemies. Knock them unconscious, leak all their nudes, dig up tons of blackmail, toss a bomb that makes them itch. Sure he also gets protective anger, but he almost never feels the need to resort to murder to solve a problem. And also, in some cases, he would just think death is a mercy. I truly don't think Donnie would kill someone with intent, but it could happen accidentally.

None of this counts kraang as people all these turtles will exploded these bitches on sight.

Some Doodles for fun, didn't really have ideas for the other two since I mainly wanted to respond to the concepts overall hehe.

Coming from an overall concept of Canon and it being premeditated and more of a separate kill, I agree that Leo is first in line for that shit. Though, I do feel like he'd have the most potential alongside Donnie to actually get away with it after the fact.

The difference with Donnie is exactly as you said. Donnie's petty. If he WERE to do something premeditated, he would absolutely go for other methods first, maybe even torture if we're hitting something similar to murder. Physical or Psychological. I feel like the difference with a more Canon approach of Donnie is that he would kill on accident. Whether it's going too far in a fight or his tech malfunctioning, I doubt he'd directly go into a fight with murder as the actual intent. Even if he did use other methods, I feel like the most likely case is him accidentally going too far. Especially since we know he has issues with that already.

Leo is one of the most directly dangerous. If he deemed it, you would be easy to get. We're talking about a fast runner with portals and two perfectly sharp swords. He's also good a good manipulator if he really wants to be. It's not hard to imagine him talking someone out of an area of protection if he can't be asked to use mystics that time.

Raph, I agree completely. It would be a mixture of anger and fear that pushes him to that point. He probably wouldn't tell the others. I can't see him planning something out prior and telling the others, I think he'd be afraid of judgment and maybe even fear from the others the most, even if he was doing it for their protection. I feel like overall, he leans the most between accidental and nonaccidental, I could definitely see both happening with him.

Mikey would totally be the most difficult to get to that point, and I agree that it would probably only be if he saw no other way out. But I also think Mikey would be the first to take this kind of position in a battle for some god forsaken reason. I feel like in the heat of the moment, his brothers would be too focused on protecting each other or getting out of there, I can totally see Mikey freezing realizing what has to be done before the others. Leo wouldn't kill anything mid battle on purpose, that's far too risky, Raph and Donnie as I've said prior are likely to have accidents in such a scenario, Mikey would be the only one I can see putting his foot down intentionally in a battle for some reason. Even if his view of the situation is incorrect. Which ironically means he would probably be the most likely one to get caught. (If he didn't crumble under guilt later.)

I feel like in terms of getting caught with the others, Raph would crumble under the guilt as well, likely being the second from Mikey to get caught. Third would be Donnie, as much as he might be able to clean up after himself at first, but without any support in his endeavors and the fact they almost all may be accidents, I think he'd get cocky.

Leo would potentially get lazy, too. Or maybe stop caring when under the context of the others already getting caught. Hell, Leo's extremely adrenaline junky coded imo. Maybe a few of his kills became less reasonable and more him shoving excuses in after getting too comfortable. But by the point the others are all taken in, assuming they can't get out, Leo would probably have one last hoorah in a feeble attempt to break them out. If he ends up doing it, he'd look like a monster but have his brothers back. If he doesn't... well with their luck, they'll at least get cells kind of near each other.

Of course, there are multiple ways to read into things. This is obviously leaning in on a more Canon approach. If we were involving a few more headcanons from me, Donnie would definitely go up to number 2 in danger on the list, lol /hj

NMJ, JGY, and Vices/Hobbies Meta

So, I’ve been thinking a lot about this particular quote from MDZS chapter 49, which is often cited as “NMJ has no hobbies canonically besides killing Wen and practicing saber” and I have to say that after reading the Chinese version I don’t? Necessarily agree? I don’t think this is what that scene was about at all.

This is going to be long, so meta under the cut.

The Fantranslation of the passage in question:

Jin GuangYao nodded lightly and sat as he had been told, “Brother, if you’re concerned for HuaiSang, softer words would do no harm. Why this?”

Nie MingJue, “Even when a blade’s at his neck he’s still like this. Looks like he’ll always be a good-for-nothing.”

Jin GuangYao, “It isn’t that HuaiSang is a good-for-nothing, but that his heart lies somewhere else.”

Nie MingJue, “Well you’ve really discerned where his heart lies, haven’t you?”

Jin GuangYao smiled, “Of course. Isn’t that what I’m the best at? The only person whom I can’t discern is you, Brother.”

He knew of people’s likes and dislikes so that he could find suitable solutions; he loved running errands and could do twice the work with half the effort. Thus, Jin GuangYao could be said to be quite a talent at analyzing others’ interests. Nie MingJue was the only person whom Jin GuangYao couldn’t probe out any useful information about. Wei WuXian saw this already, back then when Meng Yao was working under Nie MingJue. Women, liquor, riches—he touched none; art, calligraphy, antiques—a pile of ink and mud; the finest green tea leaves and dregs from a roadside booth—there was no difference. Meng Yao tried everything he could think of yet still couldn’t find if he was interested in anything beside training his saberwork and killing Wen-dogs. He really was a wall made of iron, impenetrable by even the sharpest blades.

And here's the official translation of the passage in question:

Knowing a person's likes and dislikes, and then catering to them accordingly, made getting things done easier. You could accomplish your goals with half as much effort. As such, the ability to discern people's desires was truly Jin Guangyao's forte. The only person he could never seem to pry any useful information out of was Nie Mingjue. Wei Wuxian had seen this firsthand, back when Meng Yao had worked under Nie Mingjue's command. The man never laid his hands on women, alcohol, or material wealth; paintings, calligraphy and antiques were all piles of ink and mud in his eyes. Top-grade premium tea tasted the same to him as dregs from a roadside stall. Meng Yao had racked his brain and still failed to identify anything Nie Mingjue might have a taste for, other than training with his saber every day and killing Wen dogs. He was truly an iron bastion, with no weaknesses to exploit. Volume 2, Page 319

I’ll go through with the chinese, my own translation based on what the Chinese says, [explanations of a few word choices along the way] and the analysis of what this actually means.

金光瑶微微颔首，依言落座，道：“大哥既是关心怀桑，稍平和些劝诫也是好的，何必如此？”

聂明玦道：“拿刀架在他脖子上逼都这样，看来是打死也不成器了。”

金光瑶道：“怀桑非是不成器，志不在此而已。”

聂明玦道：“你倒是把他志在何处摸得一清二楚。”

金光瑶笑笑，道：“那是自然，我岂非最擅长于此？唯一摸不出来的，也只有大哥了。”

Jin Guangyao nodded slightly, sank into a seat, and said "Since Da-ge is worried about Huaisang, wouldn't it be better to persuade him calmly?"

Nie Mingjue said, "Even when I've got a knife on his neck [aka even though NHS is being forced to do whatever] he's still like this, it seems like even if one beat him to death it wouldn't make him become good at it." <-- this seems to be a response to JGY's "why don't you try to persuade him to practice saber gently and calmly? to which Da-ge is like "if I can't get him to do it while yelling at him, lmao you think gently critiquing him will help? lol"

Jin Guangyao said, "It's not that Huaisang is useless, it's just that his strengths don't lie here [with the saber]" <-- I'm assuming that since NMJ and NHS were yelling about saber stuff before JGY got there that JGY and NMJ are still talking about NHS and the saber business

Nie Mingjue said, "It seems like you've got him entirely figured out."

Jin Guangyao laughed and said, "isn't that natural? I'm predisposed to this [figuring out people/finding out what they like] the only person who's still murky is Da-ge."

This particular conversation is not particularly antagonistic! JGY is trying to persuade NMJ that he could persuade NHS to practice the saber with honey and NMJ is like “I don’t think that’s probable.” and then JGY says “oh, saber isn’t really NHS’s skillset!” and NMJ says “looks like you have him all figured out!” and then JGY laughs and goes “I’m a natural at figuring people out, but Da-ge you’re really mysterious to me. (also the only person mysterious to me, people who are called Jin Guangyao)” Like, idk, this doesn’t sound particularly terrifyingly argumentative or upsetting to me.

知人喜恶，对症下药，最好办事，事半功倍。因此金光瑶在揣摩人嗜好上可谓是一把好手。唯有聂明玦，金光瑶试探不出来任何有用的信息。

Knowing people's likes and dislikes and [here the prescribing medicine is an idiomatic saying for "and then appealing to the root of their nature"] is the best way to get things done, to get the most reward for one's effort. Jin Guangyao, therefore, could be said to be a good hand at figuring out people's hobbies. Only in the case of Nie Mingjue, could Jin Guangyao not find any useful information.

The word for “hobbies” herein is 嗜好 which is another word for addiction. Now, there ARE other more common words for “hobbies” in Chinese and they are more commonly used when not referring to addictions, they are: yule and aihao. Yulei being “amusement, entertainment, recreation,” and aihao being “hobby, interest, thing one enjoys and takes pleasure in.”

So the more accurate translation here is "Jin Guangyao, therefore, could be said to be a good hand at figuring out people's addictions."

He [NMJ] was just like an iron wall, neither swords nor spears could penetrate it.

Hearing [JGY's] self deprecation, Nie Mingjue, on the countrary, became not as upset, and said, "stop encouraging that part of his character" <-- talking about NHS's love of painting and fans again.

Now, the important thing to remember about this analysis of both 1) the dynamic between JGY and NMJ and 2) what JGY thinks NMJ’s hobbies, preferences, vices, addictions are is this: neither JGY nor NMJ are implied to have been talking or thinking about NMJ’s wartime preferences during this conversation or even during the war.

What JGY and NMJ actually say in this scene are peppered through with WWX’s own thoughts on observing this scene between them, and neither JGY nor NMJ actually say “JGY believes that NMJ’s only hobbies [during the time JGY served under NMJ at Langya front] are practicing the saber and killing Wen-dogs.] In fact, JGY and NMJ don’t mention 1) the Wen at all in this scene and 2) the only time they talk about saber training is the fact that NHS is doing 0 of it.

What they DO however, say to each other is this:

JGY: you could probably persuade Huaisang to train by persuading him gently!

NMJ: lmao if threats don’t work, bribes won’t either.

JGY: Huaisang isn’t useless, he’s just talented in other ways.

NMJ: you’ve got him all figured out haven’t you?

JGY: haha, you know me Da-ge, I’m a natural at figuring people out. Except you, Da-ge, you’re very mysterious.

NMJ: don’t encourage his [NHS’s] bad expensive habits.

In the middle of this conversation, Wei Wuxian from his own (not unfiltered or unbiased) perspective observes this about NMJ during wartime: "yeah that JGY, he's great at finding out people's addictions, he sure is! but Chifeng-zun doesn't really have any of those lmao. at least from back when I knew Chifeng-zun during the war. He doesn't like girls, doesn't like wine, doesn't like wealth, doesn't like calligraphy or paintings or antiques. Wow! Meng Yao must've worked really hard and found nothing!"

JGY and NMJ in fact, don’t talk about 1) the war 2) the wen or 3) NMJ’s interests, hobbies, vices, or addictions here at all. Nor does JGY claim that he spent a lot of time searching for NMJ’s hobbies and found only saber practice and Wen-dog killing. Nor does JGY claim to be good at finding out people’s addictions, he just made a joke about how NHS’s interests are really obvious and “but you Da-ge are a mystery to me.”

And thus concludes my dissertation about how this really says nothing about NMJ’s hobbies, interests or vices, he could be collecting incense burners and a lover of bubble baths for all we know.

Okay, in all seriousness... I would be the worst person for Solomon to rely on lol

I completely understand and even support what he's trying to accomplish. Solomon wants humans to be viewed as equals because yes, we aren't the weaklings that demons and angels may think we are. We are strong, resilient, tenacious, and special in our own ways. We can be just as cruel and devious as demons, but also just as genuinely kind and compassionate as angels. We all possess those qualities.

From a personal standpoint, though... As disgustingly selfish as this is, why would I as an individual ever choose to turn my back against the demons who have pretty much become my family who I deeply love and cherish just to instigate or support a war where I would be siding with humanity as a whole? Because I'm a human? No thanks, I'll pass.

!! Potential Spoilers Ahead !!

I know in this specific timeline, the brothers aren't close with us like they are in the OG game. But that doesn't change my feelings for them nor all of the events and shenanigans we've been through with them.

Also, maybe Solomon is forgetting or simply ignorant to these very important facts :

How many times did MC risk their life for the brothers?

MC gave a portion of their lifeforce to Beel in the Reaper's Cave. MC (was given the choice to) stab themselves in order to spare Lucifer's life. MC also forgave Belphie for legit killing them/a version of themselves. Just to name a few.

MC also supported all of the brothers so many times, and they all supported, defended, and protected MC in return.

Sure, that was all in the "present" timeline. But it still happened as far as I'm concerned.

And let's not forget the fact that Lucifer and his brother's lowkey threatened to dismember Solomon if he doesn't bring MC back safe and sound. So again... Why would I turn my back on their past versions just because demons or angels as a whole may not view humans as "equal"?

To be perfectly fair, some humans are pretty despicable. I've had more bad experiences than not with humans, some of which who were supposed to love and protect me yet did the complete opposite. I still continue to see the bad in some humans just through their words and actions (or lack thereof). While that may not be all of humanity's fault, it still has left me with deep scars and a long lasting negative/biased opinion on humans, society, and humanity.

And as far as humans being viewed as equal... I think it would be much more impactful and significant for individual humans to directly prove to demons and angels just how worthy of recognition they truly are. Solomon and MC can both do that together instead of instigating an all out war.

Just look at how much MC accomplished in OG Obey Me! Lucifer, Mammon, Levi, Satan, Asmo, Beel, Belphie, Barbatos, Diavolo, Solomon, and Simeon are all "dateable".

Why would a demon or an angel want to romance a human if they didn't view that human as an equal? They all even say how special MC is. That's a perfect opportunity for MC to dangle the fact that they are indeed human in front of the boys, yet they still have feelings for MC regardless. In other words : "admit humans are just as capable as demons and angels, or call yourself a hypocrite right here and now".

Not only that, but their current actions could affect the present, right? Then why would we even entertain the idea of going to war with them? How would that affect the present and MC's relationships with the brothers, Diavolo, Barbatos, and Simeon?

So yeah... You have my deepest apologies, Solomon, but you are completely alone on this one. I could never bring myself to turn my back on the brothers, even if they all wanted me dead.

And honestly, I think the game is also hinting that MC won't go along with Solomon's plan or will at least try to find an alternative solution, considering we were given the choice to hand the grimoire over to Lucifer instead of using it on him (even though he was legit threatening us moments beforehand)

We'll have to wait to see what happens next, but as it stands right now... I applaud Solomon's drive and desire for humanity to stand next to demons and angels rather than remain beneath them... But I'm definitely not on board with what he's asking of us.

He would have a better chance at asking me to side with him directly instead of humanity as a whole, since I wouldn't want anything bad to happen to Solomon. But still, you can count me out, my eccentric and misinformed teacher ~

In the Deltafell AU, Are Host and Mike a couple while having Tenna and everything?

omg the Fell AU... Literally, my friends and I were literally talking about it just days ago LOL And then I briefly spoke about it in another Deltarune AU server... Is the call coming from inside the house or is this Ask a coincidence?

But I haven't worked on my take of it ever since I made Tenna, so it still only includes Mike and Host and no one else hahaha

Though I have been quietly rotating the idea of a Fell Klieg lately, but this isn't about him

For a recap of where I last left in my Fell take... Watch out I'm about to jumpscare people with the old art so I'll hide it under the Read More.

Also warning for the edginess that's expected of Fell AUs tbh :'D I like horror stuff... And weird robot gore

Uhh geez yeah Host never even got a finished Fell design, I wanted them to look a lot more femme than vanilla Host but I never truly found a proper direction for it

Mike is Mike, he's still tiny, and I couldn't get him not to wear pink so he settled on a fashionable hot pink instead, but that's beside the point

Recap of these two is that their meeting and backstory might have started the same as their vanilla counterparts. But the difference is that rather than Mike staying a broken mic with a broken body that didn't work, they uh... Found an alternative solution.

All the Microphone Darkners are detachable from their bodies, so Host being the silent terrifying behemoth they are, took matters into their own hands. Mics are such a common darkner type, who would notice if a few of them were to start going missing?

When his body was to start giving out, Mike would gladly use himself to lure his fellow mics to Host, posing as a helpless Microphone being chased, only to watch as his loving spouse would… What's a nice family-friendly way to describe the act of forcefully ripping those mics off of their bodies and killing them? Hands that hold Mike with such care, just as easily crushing those like him… All so he can get a new functioning body to hold them with…

Truly, is this not what love is? I feel like no matter the AU, M&H will always be a couple, no matter what… I feel they'd find each other in every universe...

Characterization-wise, they're both a lot more villainous, naturally, neither hold any remorse for the lives taken so that Mike can continue to pilot bodies that simply do not belong to him…

Somehow the knowledge that Host can very easily kill him is not lost on him, if anything, I think he finds that to me the most compelling part of it all… Host on the other hand, too loves their wonderful husband… And much like their vanilla counterpart… They will not hesitate if someone dares lay a hand on him… They simply have little care for morals in the Fell AU

The overall lore of their vanilla counterparts has evolved a lot since I last worked on the Fell AU, not to mention all the adjustments that had to take place when Tenna was added to the timeline and a lot of things had to be shifted around… They went from "Just some guys" to "Dark World leaders" so that's ever so slightly different

I did not consider how Tenna would function in this AU, or if he's even viable at all LOL I don't really have a Cable AU Fell Spamton to work off of, since his presence does end up defining how Tenna feels about Mike and his own presence in the world.

But at the same time, imagining M&H as that trope of the evil villains that are just the nicest parents ever is very fun to imagine hehehe

Vanilla Tenna is a bit wimpy no matter how tough they try to seem, and I image Fell Tenna being a bit more assertive or even hostile hehe

I feel like they'd either be super chill about their parents' habit of just killing mics (And using their power as Dark World Leaders for other purposes) and not care, or they're actively against it… I'm inclined to believe the latter since Tenna's thing is also being an awkward opposite of his parents, but him being against their villain acts also makes me wonder about how M&H would feel in this AU. I can't imagine them resenting their own kid, even as edgy villainous versions of themselves…

I'm also unsure of how/if the Flower Shop Tenna storyline is even a thing in this version of the AU or not. Tenna's disappearance affected the vanilla universe so much, and I feel like Fell M&H with a missing kid would very much go on a killing spree to find him LOL

I don't know! These are just random brainstormings and what ifs… Maybe if I ever feel inclined to do anything with this AU again, I'll try to concept a Fell Tenna hehehe

I’m just going through tik tok trying to find cute edit of vanijeanne but only found slander.

I’m gonna draw them so much more, lol.

I know a lot of people don’t like them because Vanitas kissed her without consent. And they are right. Vanitas is a piece of shit for doing that to her. He used physical touch to put pression on her and manipulate her. He is a real enculé (sorry there is no word in English for that, and the meaning in English is not really what it’s mean in french)

But there relation moved. He continued to try to manipulate her for his own entertainment, but she grown past that, and answered to all is stupide action with her own power.

Then they get cornered and forced to truly cooperate. Some feeling got mixed but it’s only a little start.

After, when it’s only the two of them. She thank him for saving her friends and it’s when he saw her smile genuinely that he really fall in love (fall so bad that he can’t get up lol, weak)

What more interesting, is really I think Vanitas is a piece of shit for forcing a kiss on her, but Jeanne isn’t clean either. Like she killed eon’s of people (it was for war or because she’s a bourreau, but she still slaughtered living being) she also forced contact with vanitas. We can see that both of them used physical touch for a good. It’s like “un mal pour un bien” what they did is not good, but Vanitas kissed Jeanne to save a man and Jeanne forced Vanitas naked to save him from a death by cold. It’s what I actually love about them. They are not perfect, they made mistake, they could have used other technique, but we come to solution to our problem with what we learn and live. And there reaction really portray that.

As much as I love genuinely kind people in story (like tanjirou or Midoriya) I also love kind people who there image of good and how to optain it is not how most people will portray it.

And all the characters in the cases study of Vanitas have this actually. Like Noé and Roland. So mesmerised by the idea of righteousness that they missed it. Because kindness is far from the context of justice. And that also something we struggle with in our modern world.

But to come back to vanijeanne I love them for what I told but also because I’m a sucker for enemies to lovers and they are literally: Manipulate, gaslight x Manslauthere, girlboss

you've been talking about your ocs a lot and i'm curious to who they are/what they're like! if you don't mind me asking, anyway!

i've been looking at this ask all day like a rabid beast waiting to get off work so i could answer it LOL it's so sweet of u to ask ily 🥺💖 i do have a lot of them but i think you might just be talking about jesse? he's the only one i've really been talking about lately

jess is my sosu & main oc; he's a doctor, a synth lover, and tbh he's about as close to a pacifist as you can get in the post-apocalypse lol. i'll talk more at length about some stuff under the cut (this got pretty long so feel free to skip it):

he's high intelligence/perception and low strength/luck. kind of the typical long-range stealth sniper build but it doesn't revolve around crits. truly hates killing anything, even raiders (he still sees the humanity in them despite what they do). he prefers to stay out of combat if at all possible and takes the long way around/will move at a snail's pace if it means he can avoid a fight. his main weapon is a sniper rifle he modified to be able to take custom tranq rounds (mgs3/mgsv tranq sniper my beloved). he has a 10mm sidearm and a knife on him too for close combat should he need it. like he Does know how to fight, he grew up in a military family, but he doesn't like it and would rather exhaust every other option before resorting to violence.

his story is ... complicated lol, it revolves a lot around some of my other ocs/npcs and i still haven't worked out all the nitty-gritty of it even after five years BUT basically pre-war he's a med student getting his doctorate in radiation medicine and his dissertation revolves around studying the new plague. his wife teressa was in law school at the same uni and had a part-time gig as a waitress.

post-war in game world he's aligned with the minutemen until around the time he finds virgil. that's when he decides that all of this is bigger than the minutemen can realistically take on even with his help building them up so he seeks out the railroad and joins up with them. he tries to broker peace with the other factions while working undercover but dez isn't having it so in the end both the brotherhood and the institute get fucking owned and he hates that he wasn't able to find a less violent solution. he breaks away from the railroad post-game and takes doc sun's place as the resident doctor in diamond city with curie as his assistant and nick as his malewife.

he's a synth too! some sort of experimental-type that shaun was working on in secret. he's kind of obsessed with the idea of this family he never had (see synth shaun) and not only wanted to meet his parent but he wanted to test the theory of a synth/robobrain hybrid if that makes sense? like. a whole human brain plopped in a synth body. still thinkin' about this bit tho and the intent/science behind it. mind changed! he is no longer a synth.

i think he's a more interesting character if he gets this idea in his head that he's this synth experiment, succumbs to the fear that plagues the commonwealth, reads too deeply into what kellogg and shaun do and don't tell him... but it's all subtle manipulation, on all sides. in the end he finds out the truth, though, no eternal "what if" question. it still makes the interaction with dima pretty awkward which i like, i love that tension.

a lot of this i've never talked about... and honestly there's a lot more i'm embarrassed to say right now LOL he's such a part of me and a bit of a self-insert in a lot of ways too. and there's a perfectionist streak in me that wants everything to be laid out and perfect before i talk about any of it publicly. but. idk this whole post feels like baby steps to talking out my process publicly instead of just hiding it away.

since you asked about ocs (plural) tho i do have others that aren't jess that are integral to jess' story like bec (my lw who's mainly just a fo4 npc at this point, she's a mechanic who lives at the red rocket and she owns dogmeat) and her girlfriend peaches (she basically takes over for jess when he leaves the minutemen). there's also the mojave gang... simon my dumbass courier, tex the escaped synth cowboy, cyrus the freelance (and recently ncr-contracted) hitman, and um. some other ones too that live in a different oc universe and that's a whole can of worms that i won't even touch right now because this post is absurdly long as-is nfkdfhsf

i’m in pain knowing my family, my mom mostly, loves me but they don’t like me. they don’t see me as anything important, they don’t care to know me, they don’t really care if i’m around or if i’m not, they’d only care if i finally killed myself and even then it breaks my heart to think about how they’d remember me. none of them have ever really had good things to say about me and i wonder if that’d change. i want to hope so, i’ve always hoped i was a good person and i feel like everyone else who’s loved me has reminded me i am, but my family never could. they never saw me that way and my mom hated who i was for as long as i can remember, even as a child. i have 4 siblings so it’s hard too because i know it’s not just who she is, it’s something about who i am, and i know her perception doesn’t define me but it never made it easier to live with that.

it’s been harder lately and yesterday she told me how unpleasant i am to live with, and she thinks i’m living here to make her miserable to make up for my miserable childhood (lol) so i left her alone, i didn’t see her the rest of the day but i just saw she went to the store and bought my favorite fruit )): things like that make it all harder to understand, and i feel guilty because i don’t feel like i deserve anything from anyone, despite knowing it’s not all my fault. i wish i could fix everything. life has seemed sadder than ever the past couple months.

hi love, i'm really sorry you have to put up with this sort of thing from your own family. i know that living with this sort of dynamic from those closest to you, esp during your formative years, can genuinely fuck up your sense of self-wroth and your perception of what you deserve, and i don't want to minimize that by offering platitudes or easy solutions. but i did want to say that the way your family treats you is not a reflection of you, and they do not get to dictate whether or not you're a good person or whether or not you're loveable. obviously, it's completely natural to want to be truly seen and appreciated by them, and it's totally understandable that not having access to that bond is incredibly painful. it's an incredibly difficult thing to have to learn to live with, and it often makes adulthood even harder than it already is. but just because they're not able to be a healthy support system for you, doesn't mean you don't deserve one. doesn't mean you've done anything wrong. and it might feel like bullshit for a long time, trying to convince yourself of that, because maybe your self-esteem isn't the highest due to everything you've been through - but it's true. knowing that doesn't make it easier, but grounding yourself in that truth whenever you begin to spiral into self-hatred will keep you from drowning in it. and i'm not trying to diminish how hard this must be for you, because it is absolutely not fair that you've had to live your life feeling like your family wouldn't even care if they lost you - that is incredibly sad to hear, and i'm so sorry. it sounds like your mother has issues that stem back from before you were born, honestly, and the fact that she could raise one of her kids to feel that way is indicative of her emotional immaturity more than anything. i think the people who have loved you how you deserve to be loved were able to do that because you ARE a wonderful person who is worthy and deserving and good.

anyway, i know you wanted my thoughts on the second half of this, i just wanted to be honest with you ab this message. the bit about the fruit - i do understand that, a lot. i think a lot of people who have complex relationships with their mothers do, and that's what makes it all so hard. it would be much easier if we could just say we hate them and move on, wouldn't it? but there's so much between a parent and a child that makes it impossible to do that, in many cases at least. i think it's important to acknowledge that numerous things can be true at once while trying to process your feelings for her. it's true that she hasn't treated you very well, it's true that she cares for you and your wellbeing deeply (though not in a way that you may always understand, and not that that excuses any of the shit shes put you through), it's true that you don't feel like she appreciates you for who you are and you're mad at her for that, it's true that you crave recognition from her at the same time. these emotions might seem contradictory and confusing but they're all just a part of the nuance and of the complicated relationship you have with her. it's entirely possible to be grateful for the fruit and still acknowledge that you deserve better than this. which you do, and it's alright if you can't quite believe that right now, but i hope you get the chance to work on it w a professional at some point so you're able to start viewing the situation from a place of support for yourself, and not from a place of disdain. your brain is partially a product of how you were raised and so you can't always trust what it feeds you, you know? anyway, i'm sorry this got long and i'll quit rambling now, but yeah - i really do get this and you're truly not alone in it. if you ever need a friend or anything, give me a message. love u love angel and please take care of yourself. mwah x

So I've got some thoughts about DKR and TT if you'll indulge me for a moment, Purbs. Not plot stuff but like, Meta thoughts.

I've always found it a little odd about myself why while the time travel Au is highkey one of my favorite lmk AUs in the Fandom, and I absolutely ADORE TTRed, I could never really get into DKR other than as the villain of TTRed's story. But i've been in a lord of the rings mood lately and I think i figured it out

so everyone knows that speech Samwise Gamgee gives in Two Towers, yeah? the importance of still keeping hope alive even in the most dire of circumstances because a new day WILL come eventually. the folk in those stories had plenty of chances of turning back but they didn't because they believed that there was enough good in this world to be worth fighting for, and all that.

And keeping hope for the sun to rise even when lost in the darkest of nights is kind of TTRed's whole thing.

Whereas there's very little HOPE in the DKR universe without TTRed there swearing to change the course of fate, which is kind of the point, yes, but the fact that the only permanent solution that's not a full stop bad-end is DKR dying since nothing else will stop him for good as the Calabash storyline proves. and the only way for that to be narratively satisfying is for MK to be the one to kill him, putting more pain and trauma on someone who's already suffered far too much at DKR's hands. leaving that finale while on some level cathartic for the end of a nightmare, still a phyrric victory at best.

i'm not sure if i have a point to all of this so i'm just gonna go reread Test of Time and cry about that one terry pratchett quote and think about the poor traumatized muffin (and btw thats the cutest pet name for TTRed poor dear) "Let there be goblin hordes, let there be terrible environmental threats, let there be giant mutated slugs if you really must, but let there also be hope. It may be a grim, thin hope, an Arthurian sword at sunset, but let us know that we do not live in vain"

Oh my gosh Anon, yes, thank you for this, you absolutely hit the nail on the head here with this analysis!

Demon King Red is about a person losing himself into madness because he doesn't understand what it means to love, and when he's forced to choose between two things he loves he tries to force them both together and it ends up destroying all of them. It's a story of devastation and ruin and nobody comes out of it better than they went in. Meanwhile, Time Travel Red Son's story is about seeing that horror and the cruelty and selfishness and deciding that he will not let it be his own fate, and in doing so he learns what love truly is. It's not something you have or take, it's something you give and receive, and it cannot be forced. And while he doesn't exactly get out of it unscathed either, he's still always working to be a better person and that intent is the most important thing about him and his story.

TT Red is definitely the hope of morning to DKR's black, somber night. So it's completely understandable that you weren't so interested in DKR's story without TT Red there to give it that spark of hope. I definitely agree that a story with only a bleak outcome possible isn't quite as interesting. It's fun to make characters evil and have them suffer, but when it comes to having a full narrative, the lack of hope certainly makes it less appealing. Which is why the traumatized muffin's story is the one I chose to tell in full via a fleshed out fanfic (and yes I agree, that's the best nickname for him lol) and not to spoil anything for that fic, but you're definitely right about the only good ending is going to end up in more trauma for MK (and you're even more right that the story demands it to be MK who kills DKR ultimately) And that ending is only possible because of TT Red's presence.

Also I'm super mega flattered that Samwise Gamgee, the goodest boy of all, reminded you in any way of my story and my traumatized muffin. And that Terry Pratchett quote, it’s one of my favorite quotes by my favorite author to boot! You're gonna make me blush bringing these amazing things up in reference to my silly lego AU lol 🥰

I have such complicated and unfinished opinions in regard to Overguard.

I think Eximus units should be harder- as in harder than they are NOW *WITH* overguard.

I also think overguard does exceptionally little to make them harder, and the ways in which it does accomplish this don't feel conducive to interactive and exciting gameplay (not exactly a necessity, but it does scream "Mediocre" solution)

As it currently stands, all overguard does is wag its finger at players saying "Ah Ah Ah! You can only counter me with 50% of your build! Weapons only, bud! Abilities are a no go!" when abilities are the most interesting part of the game.

It DOES make them harder, as it (in a round about way) succeeds in making Eximus units the "stand out" threats that you have to focus on instead of just mashing your ability buttons without a care in the world.

It's just the way they do that- with pure invincibility towards abilities and status, feels like shit.

I hate that overguard makes units immune to CC when, like, what is CC even for in 99% of games? It's for handicapping the HARD unit, but not warframe, in warframe CC is useless in the one use-case it should have- BY DESIGN.

I also hate how overguard is truly an all or nothing solution to Eximus units being push-overs. When it's on, they are a threat- the aura's are scary and you can't CC them. When it's off, they pop like a balloon. The auras become nearly pointless because the second that shield is gone "pop" there they go, barely more sturdy than a standard unit, gone.

Honestly, I think overguard might as well be stripped entirely and reworked internally, with the temporary fix being to raise eximus DR to like double or triple said content's level and applying sentient adaptation to all eximus units.

Sentients can currently become immune to any CC in the game... but it takes time. Meaning you can CC a sentient but if you're entire game plan is to freeze them in place then they WILL break free and surprise you.

THAT feels like the correct interaction for Eximus to have with players- add on more DR so they still draw your attention in a crowd as you need to kill them before the immunity kicks in and bam- fun temporary solution.

It'd encourage CC but also prevent CC from becoming a hilarious map wide invuln button because you NEED to focus down those Eximus or they will break free and fuck you over.

Anways. Overguard kinda dumb. It's both not remotely hard enough AND annoying in how it is "difficult" because it's no fun seeing overguard boys just walk through CC attempts.

Hope it gets addressed, but sadly I feel like the conversations around it are all so aggressive with people REALLY upset at it that I don't remotely know what message DE is getting on them.

I mean hell, I'm posting this here instead of on the forum because RIGHT NOW there are multiple threads ranting about overguard, so why make another? lol

ok its time for keeping up with the blorbos where i talk about my feelings towards all of the past characters that i can remember that i used to be really into (semi chronological) and YOU my dear reader get a glimpse into my psyche or another opportunity to j/k scroll

twilight sparkle: when i watched mlp i thought she was in high school but now i think shes actually in her 20s which honestly makes the show funnier. the perfect time for learning about the magic of friendship. i think its too bad that she didnt get as many opportunities to be like dorky n stuff in the later seasons like she got all character developed out.. like a distant fondness ritsu kageyama: this guy is the emotional blueprint for how i feel about alphinaud ffxiv lol. like in middle school i was like damn im just like im just like him fr but now its like aww my little scrunklydoo.. its like this wave of affection for my little fictional guy. i want to see him get self destructively embroiled in a mess beyond his control and also hes 13 years old... ruffles his hair dirk strider/hal: he is the moment. etc or i mean he was the moment several years ago. actually i was thinking about this post because yesterday bc of neils post i was like wow dirk strider and i spent 30 minutes thinking about him instead of going to sleep. anyways like yk how across act 6 his solution to like everything is to kill himself like he literally invented kill herself disease..to the point where its literally a meme but its still true. i dont think i like resonate with that as much as i did when i was originally reading it, and i have even more mixed feelings about all of the epilogues/hs2 stuff but its still like omg. one of the only times his suicide by proxy didnt work was with hal was bc hal was not just a proxy but also a Whole Nother Person and he was scared to die..arent you.. no way.. anyways i keep him in a little box terezi pyrope: i still really like her but i think the alpha kids are more easily removable from the context of hs’ plot yk theyre so self contained. terezi on the other hand is very connected to remembering what happens in hs, which i definitely dont. sotp was really good though. in some hypothetical future where i reread hs i think i would try and pay more attention to her interactions w other kids in the context of her rship with vriska instead of taking them standalone.i think i also just personally connect less with her themes n whatever but like truly nobody else has done it like her ouma: surprisingly even though i still have this guy as a pfp on another email i dont feel that much about him anymore. its like ah ndrv3 was pretty bad huh. theres other fish in the sea.. when lovepoints posts art of him its like :] though. glad to have danganronpa start to leech out of my psyche tbh it was fun while it lasted goro akechi: surprisingly i still really like this guy. i think part of it is that p5r ended up being such a serve like yeah persona 5s writing is usually bad but i think its really great that he did get to be a grumpy bitch. hmm not a lot of actual thoughts about him but a delight to have in class kim dokja: ahhhh *explode*

lol I haven't posted in this tag since may but here we go. long rambling thoughts about 2022:

2022 was a big year for me, which is weird because it doesn't really feel that way. I started the year in a very different mental and emotional place than where I am now, and a lot of the goals I set and things I expected to change just haven't been as relevant as I anticipated. for better and for worse, I'm at the same job and in the same apartment I was a year ago. it seems likely that will be the case at the end of 2023, too.

but under the surface, a lot of things have changed. I started a major solo project at work (as opposed to juggling half a dozen smaller projects), and I got some accommodations that mean I'm a lot less worn out in all the other areas of my life. I completed my conversion to judaism. I started applying to phd programs, then changed my mind, decided to pursue independent research, and started a new creative nonfiction project that may or may not be a book someday. I've also taken on some new responsibilities, not all of them totally planned - team leader for an organization I started volunteering with last january, committee member for a professional organization I'm active in. I've been gradually getting better at being consistent and following through on some of the side projects I say yes to.

having more energy outside of work (relatively speaking) means I've been able to be more intentional with my hobbies, which I'm starting to have rather a lot of. I kept up bouldering from last year, more or less, and in the summer started looking for a kung fu gym to get back into martial arts, which I haven't done for years but have missed a lot. I am really loving the school and style (mantis) where I landed. at this point I am probably in the best shape I've been since sophomore year of high school, though it strikes me that I had to find solutions for my chronic fatigue before I could make regular exercise happen. I do think it contributes to me having more energy, but there's no way I could have been this active last year and still worked full time.

I didn't write as much fiction as I'd hoped this year - only about 50,000 words total, and I haven't posted at all. on the other hand, I'm still happily working on the same projects I was at the beginning of the year, which is truly unprecedented. the goal is definitely to finish at least one of them this year.

I did reach a lot of my language-learning goals, including finishing the chinese tree on duolingo, getting comfortable with the hebrew alphabet, and finding ways to keep up my spanish. on the other hand, I haven't been cooking or practicing piano much - possibly because I haven't been trying much in the way of new things and am getting a little bored.

I've read 64 books this year and will probably finish another two or three before the end of the year, exceeding my (low, for me) goal of 60. a lot of those books were lengthy nonfiction, which may be why the overall number isn't as high as it was a few years ago. I have also been watching a lot more TV, though. 2022 was really the year of the cdrama for me, but there were several other fantastic shows: the sandman, reservation dogs, a league of their own, killing eve. musically, the mountain goats have unsurprisingly stayed my #1 band, but I listened to a wider range of stuff compared to last year (shoutout to my habibi and ibibio sound machine kick of the last couple months). I also tried a couple of new video games, hades and control. I am not good at the third-person shooter format, but it keeps me from destroying things.

the one neglected area of my 2022 goals that I would really like to pick back up in the new year is improvements to my living space, like getting enough shelf space for my books and making sure the kitchen/dining areas stay functional.

Thoughts on Episode 118 (S6 E5)

Cool capes, BBQed birds, and devastating destruction. Let’s talk about it

Spoilers for the episode, as well as some very light spoilers for the manga. I'll put them at the end an label them though so people can stop reading

0/10 rating, they cut my beloved Wash. Unacceptable. Truly the worst and most egregious change the anime has ever made in the history of all 6 seasons. Unknown if it will ever recover

(Real talk I kind of understand. They made a point of saying everyone was evacuated, so showing that would have just been confusing. Good on them for catching little details like that)

Aside from that, this episode was really good! The animation was so pretty in this one (it’s been great all season so far but this one in particular was really nice.)

Regarding pacing, I was surprised to find this episode only adapted 2.5 chapters (I forgot that panel of Shigaraki on the phone wasn't how the chapter ended lol). Despite this entire season having a fair bit of filler per episode (especially with the jumps to that observation room) I've found the filler to be pretty non-offensive. This episode is the same, it felt like it moved at a healthy pace. Plus, all the episodes end on great moments, so that's a wonderful and effective use of filler content!

rip X-Less, you existed for the sole purpose of Tomura getting a kick-ass cape. A noble mission. His fans solute you

That scene where Mirko stands up while Endeavor protects her... why was it so smooth? Was that just me? Like those 3 seconds looked better than most of MVA lol

Random: but the noise Komori makes when Fat Gum kicks the kids out is so cute

Yay! Geten got a proper face reveal!

”Everyone believes you did the right thing!” Tokoyami has clearly never had to read the discourse that happened when that chapter came out

I wish they had put a little more focus on Crust’s death and how he specifically saved Aizawa. It’s fine as is, but I feel like they could have made the impact bigger. Hori had the talent of making people mourn him (a very minor character) and I wish that energy had stuck around

The crosswalk thing right before the destruction was so awesome. I got chills lol

I know there was a little rearranging this episode (showing the lab before showing Dabi, Deku's inner voice warning originally being somewhere else) but I think everything worked well. Again, it's an instance of how some changes can work better for their respective mediums

Despite the unforgivable lack of Wash, the scenes of the heroes reacting to decay was so well done. I’m a sucker for what I call “chaos scenes” (meaning any scene where characters are in a state of panic while chaos unfurls around them) and that was definitely a good one. Burnin screaming on the phone, the kids panicking compared to how mundane everything had been, Todoroki rushing in to save Deku, it’s all so good

Manga Spoilers

Regarding next week, I sincerely hope they add that one “bonus scene” from the volume extras (the one where Compress activates dad mode)

Seeing Tokoyami’s reaction to Hawks killing Twice lowkey irked me because it hasn’t been brought up since. I understand him wanting to be kind when he thinks Hawks might literally die in his arms, but we have NEVER returned to Tokoyami expressing his thoughts about this situation. Seeing it again just made me remember “Hmm, yeah that goes no where”. Maybe one day the manga will talk about it

I love so much about this clip.

Data is newly resurrected but also integrated with several memories and emotions and not truly an android anymore. There is some hesitation to trust him to navigate under those circumstances and he’s pleading for their trust and acceptance and they ultimately provide it. A true bond of friendship never severed between him and them, especially Geordi.

The humor.

I really don’t know who is the best comedic actor. Jonathan, Brent or Michael. Data’s glee at being back at com. Micheal’s deadpan about thinking for a moment they’d survive. Frakes roguish grin and has similiar moments himself.

The high stakes. These are each other’s best friends/family but then you have the Deanna/Will, and Beverly/Picard/Jack units interspersed throughout there.

And THIS here is why the Borg was so essential to be part of plot. Some might dismiss it leaning on an old villain too much but this show is called PICARD. He NEVER got over being assimilated and killing so many 25 year’s ago. It’s haunted him ever since. He says it here. He’s been running from it ever since. He finally faced it and you probably see him the happiest I ever have in the end. In that shuttle and at that poker game. He finally found peace.

For another character it might not be the perfect ending but so much as I view this as a conclusion for TNG and it IS...the show is still his namesake and this needed to happen. The only other main character so affected by the Borg would be Seven. Any other character would have a different arc. Example...for Deanna and Will it was quieter. It was the death of their son and processing that and apologizing for mistakes. Healing and moving forward.

For Beverly, she has lost everyone she loved “to the stars”. First son Wesley who lives outside of time and her husband. In the end, she doesn’t lose Jack or Picard and she is back front and center overseeing the entire Star Fleet medical.

Worf was looking for peace. He was always at war with himself. Klingon but raised by humans after his parents were slaughtered. Half in one world, half in another. Two love interests having died. In a way his war within himself led to the divide with his son. His son 1/4th human embracing his mother’s side more than Klingon side. It’s actually kind of interesting because at very least the young Alexander always wanted to embrace a more peaceful solution. In a way Worf has come closer to his son’s position...even if he stills likes swords. lol

Data was always Trek’s Pinocchio. The android who wanted to be human. With his synthetic body, he is as close to that as he ever was.

Geordie in many ways had what he always wanted. A wife, a family, a connection to that ship that he rebuilt. The one thing he lost was his best friend. Data resurrected healed him.

Seven’s story is unresolved because they are hoping for a spinoff but she did get one ending. A purpose. A new home hadn’t felt she had since Voyager. So even if no spinoff they left her in a good place.

Raffi also open ended but what she most wanted was to be reconciled with her son and grandchild so she had a happy ending too.

The younger cast have promising adventures and relationships promised but again they are hoping for a spinoff so left there with Jack, Sidney and Alana only teased.

Chapter 276 - Shandian Rhythm

Chapter 277 - Maxim

Nami decides to have a jetski while she allies herself with the insufferable god. The insufferable god thinks that’s a little silly.

Hmm... I feel like there’s something grand and poetic I could say about how the snake’s purpose within this story is vore, which is a fetish, and by restoring Lufpy, the King of Fetishes, to relevance, the snake is relinquishing its own relevance.

Well I guess it could have taken Asia as a hostage. In doing so, it would have remained relevant, even after restoring Lufpy to relevance.

has a strange reaction to Zoro’s body here which I find interesting. It’s almost like Lufpy’s absurd amount of value placed on the bonds of friendship has merged with a disproportionate level of hero worship. I don’t think Lufpy is... correct, for this to be his first reaction to seeing Zoro, Tony Tony Chopper, Nico Robin, and the knight god badly hurt and ambiguously unconscious and Nami missing. He’s treating Zoro like Zoro held the burden of being an all-purpose solution to any possible way things could have gone sideways. Like some kind of a... Deus ex Machina. Wait, hang on, before I talk about Chapter 278, I just remembered yet another thing I wanted to say in my reaction to that one panel where Lufpy reacts to Zoro’s body: I wonder if Lufpy’s tendencies towards unconditional trust and deep hero worship will ever be truly shaken. Maybe when he finds out the redhead thinks South is colder than North, or maybe at some other point in the story. Guess I’ll have to keep reading to find out. Speaking of things I haven’t found out yet, why was the third friend named Rika?

Okay, I know Lufpy presumably has a voice which Nami would be able to recognize, but frankly I find the idea that Lufpy doesn’t have a voice because he’s a manga character, so Nami’s one panel of confusion was in part because she had no way of vocally identifying the speaker in that speech bubble, and then her realization in the very next panel is because she recognized Lufpy via speaking style alone, to be far more charming.

...Man I sure do have a bad tendency of writing run-on sentences. Time to let that sentence stand unaltered as eternal proof of my bad tendency of writing run-on sentences, for historians to find later, buried under lots of jpegs of dirt. Then they’ll add my bad tendency of writing run-on sentences to my McWikipedia 4.0 page. Chapter 279 - Pirate Luffy vs. Kami Eneru

Okay, that chapter title was worth every “This chapter is named after a 1v1″ chapter title that came before it in this arc. What would normally be a ho-hum “yeah this is the one where the protagonist fights the antagonist” chapter title instead feels freaking baller, because all the other 1v1 chapter titles make it feel hard-earned. Consistently listing each combatant’s faction within the 1v1 chapter titles also converts a chapter title like this from “the one where Lufpy fights Eneru” to “the one where Lufpy fights GOD” for added epic. The only thing which undercuts the hype a little is that this chapter title has a typo in Lufpy’s name.

Some people don’t want to evacuate, even after Coins convinced them to convert to atheism, because they want to see their loved ones who were recruited by the military again. A cop says “Being near the military is a job for cops!” Thanks cop! Is this the first time in the entirety of One Piece a cop has been helpful through action rather than through inaction? The gluttonous cop helped Lufpy not get arrested by cops, but it was through inaction.

Oh wait no the palindrome cop gave Lufpy directions. I forgot! Yeah I guess ACAB doesn’t hold true in One Piece. It almost does, but not quite. I guess CAB is true. I guess TAXI is true.

Oh, this fight is very good. I mean, it’s mostly just a guy I hate using very powerful attacks, so despite how cool the attacks look I can’t wholeheartedly root for the cool-looking attacks, intercut with Lufpy standing around doing nothing, and then a sad face. This is the best fight in One Piece.

Chapter 280 - Floating

Lufpy has type-immunity to electric. Lufpy is a ground-type Pokemon! This is consistent with Lufpy being rice. You see... in the very same arc where we learned that Lufpy was rice, rice was on the ground!

The insufferable Dumbledore expy can’t use electric-type moves... but he now audibly realizes he has other moves. He starts doing “dodge the attack” and “hit someone with a stick”. Then he realizes sticks aren’t that effective and makes it a trident instead. Then he realizes dodging normally also isn’t effective and starts swimming through metal.

No... this is so sad... The foolish Dumbledore expy’s plan is to create a lightning cloud. Ah... I see... in this land, it’s a perfect synthesis between “execution” and “stuff”! Wait... the foolish Dumbledore expy is using “execution stuff” to “combat despair by enacting despair”... this is just Danganronpa. I think hundreds of chapters ago I said something about Kokichi being a blatant Lufpy ripoff? Well, it turns out Monokuma is just a blatant foolish Dumbledore expy ripoff.

Of course, the foolish Dumbledore expy’s trainer is a Pokemon NPC, and Lufpy’s trainer is a Pokemon PC, which means that when the person playing Pokemon inputs a move, the computer knows what that move is. Since the computer knows what move the person playing Pokemon input, the NPC knows what move the person playing Pokemon input. Since the NPC knows, the foolish Dumbledore expy knows. Therefore, Lufpy is seemingly unable to surprise the foolish Dumbledore expy.

Lufpy tries Passing every turn. Doing so raises his Defense to 100%, but lowers his Attack to 0%. Lufpy tries not having stiff legs. That’s a bit weird for him to do. Lufpy tries using a collision engine glitch. The computer wasn’t programmed to account for that, so the foolish Dumbledore expy is completely blindsided.

Chapter 282 - Desire

The foolish Dumbledore expy is now bragging that he’s pretty much already won. An apocalyptic event IS coming, and the only thing preventing the foolish Dumbledore expy from profiting from that event is merely Lufpy.

To prove how wimpy Lufpy is, he puts Lufpy’s arm in a hot golden ball. In Japanese-speaking countries, a hot golden ball is a hot human testicle. In English-speaking countries, a hot human testicle is a sexy human testicle. That foolish Dumbledore expy...! Lufpy already had enough fetishes to surpass a god! Now that the foolish Dumbledore expy has done an edgy-joke-catch-22 against me... a bad action with real-world consequences... he has crossed over into being my new most hated One Piece villain.

Fuck. Yes. This might be the best One Piece has ever been. This entire reading has been giving me the same “oh, One Piece is REALLY GOOD, actually” feeling I was getting at certain parts of the restaurant arc.

Chapter 284 - Sorry

Ah, in my last post I talked about how offscreen villain-induced killings are a sexy little trope I enjoy. Another sexy little trope I enjoy, but this time a comedic one: People reacting to the situation they’ve walked into by doing a combo move where they chain from saying “I see” straight into closing the door behind them when they leave.

That’s like half the reason Chapter 169 is my favorite unadapted chapter of the Kaguya manga.

Heh... last time I mentioned Kaguya in one of my One Piece posts, I was able to successfully inflict torment on a single person. This time... I wonder... how many people will suffer in anguish?

Yeah... Nami and Usopp have my favorite character dynamic in One Piece. Probably because Nami is in it.

Uh... I dunno, bro... he attacks using electricity... and it’s an important instrument that runs off of electricity...

Usopp’s slapstick style of “combat” is not very effective against electric-type... does that make Usopp electric-type himself, steel-type, or flying-type? Well, I don’t think Usopp is anything like the foolish Dumbledore expy, so electric-type’s not it. Usopp’s good at crafting and likes to use hammers and stuff, which certainly evokes imagery of steel-type because of stuff like blacksmiths, but he also likes to imagine himself as a legendary figure, which does correlate with flying-type through phrases like “head in the clouds” and “high ambitions”. Not to mention he uses a slingshot, which is a weapon that causes things to fly through the air. So it could be either steel-type or flying-type, or even both. Yeah, actually... both steel AND flying seems like a REALLY fitting Pokemon typing for Usopp. Wait, but my favorite Pokemon types are Water because it’s what Squirtle and Quaxly are, Poison because it’s what Alolan Grimer is and also it’s just generally rad, and Ghost because Pokemon are cute and cute-scary is a delightful combination every single time! I thought better of you, Usopp.

Chapter 285 - Capriccio

So you know back during the restaurant arc when I said “I thought it would be easy to rank the characters Nami > Usopp > Lufpy > Zoro > Sanji, but now that all this has happened, every single character is so good that I can’t use that ranking anymore because Lufpy and Sanji are way better than I thought they were, and all I really know for sure is that Nami is great and Zoro is the worst”? Same thing now with my most recent ranking getting thrown out of balance by just about everyone being better than I thought they were.

As I recall, I put all the characters into tiers in my most recent ranking. Yeah, let’s see here... Nami is still S Tier, Lufpy is still A Tier, Sanji is now A Tier instead of B Tier, Zoro is still B Tier, Nico Robin is now B Tier instead of C Tier, Usopp is now A Tier instead of C Tier, Tony Tony Chopper is now C Tier instead of D Tier, D Tier is now an extraneous tier that none of the crew falls into.

I’d say it’s gonna suck when I end up liking all these characters so much that they’re all clumped up together in S Tier, but if that ever happens, I’ll just add an S+ Tier to put Nami into.

Nami, Usopp, and Sanji are all like “Let’s find Lufpy, Nico Robin, Zoro, and Tony Tony Chopper so we can leave”. The foolish Dumbledore expy is all like “Well it sucks that Sanji did bad things to me, but this too isn’t enough to stop me”.

This... isn’t the way the arc is gonna end, right...? It’s a Shonen Jump manga. I mean, so is Chainsaw Man, so I guess that doesn’t mean extremely bad things can’t happen. And so was The Promised Neverland so it additionally doesn’t mean endings can’t be bad. Ba dum tsh.

Bruno Bucciarati and Narancia Ghirga are in B Tier. Leone Abbacchio, Pannacotta Fugo, and Trish Una are in C Tier. Giorno Giovanna and Guido Mista are in D Tier. None of them will ever ascend to A Tier, let alone S Tier, because JoJo Part 5 doesn’t have good character writing.
