Dear Professor,
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chapter One
Wanda Maximoff x Fem!Reader
Yelena Belova x Fem!Reader (platonic)
No warnings for this chapter
Summary: You are in college and everything seems fine. Will it be the same when you’ll see your new Literature Professor?
Age Gap: Reader, 21 - Wanda, 34.
A/N: Hey guys! I’m back! I’ve been thinking of making a series for quite a long time, and well now the first chapter is here! It’s pretty short, since it’s a sort of introduction. It will be a challenge, because I’ve never written anything like this before, but I really hope you will like it! Always remember that English is not my first language, so I apologize for any mistakes!
General Masterlist Series Masterlist
I remember when I started college, I was so scared of the future, of life. I have never travelled much, and this is one of my greatest regrets, but I am just 21, and people constantly tell me that I have my whole life to live any experience I want. I’ve always been quite shy and introverted as a kid, people barely talked to me, but I didn’t care. When I was 8 I found my best friend, Yelena is her name. She’s Russian and at first communication was hard, but I taught her English and she taught me Russian, and now I can’t imagine my life without her in it. That little girl who sat next to me, I’ve been friends ever since.
Now I am in college, I started two years ago, and well it’s not easy, it’s actually a pure nightmare, but Yelena always tries to see things on the bright side, she told me that her sister taught her that, Natasha. I haven’t created a great bond with her, probably because she’s a lot older than me, but she’s a good person, one of the kindest I’ve ever met.
Well today I’m particularly nervous, I’ll start my new year. I gave my best in these last two years, but they say third year is the hardest and well, I have a lot of pressure, and I just hope to not ruin everything. I found out few weeks ago that I’ll have a new Literature professor this year, Wanda Maximoff is her name, and I wish she’ll be as great as Mrs. Harkness, hopefully I won’t miss her much.
When I arrived in class, Yelena was already there, waiting for me. “Hey good morning, wow I don’t even have to ask you how you’re feeling I can already see it” she starts, “well good morning to you and well, I’m so nervous…and the first two hours will be with Professor Maximoff, I hope I won’t fall asleep” “you fall asleep? Are you kidding? You’ve always been the nerd between the two of us, I’m sure you’ll be great” “Oh shut up Belova, and for the record, literature can be very boring sometimes” “Shut up the Professor is coming” whispers the blonde.
There she arrives, “Good Morning class, I am Professor Maximoff and I will be your Literature professor this year…” I would have never thought she would look like this, and actually I would have never thought she would be this beautiful. Is it love at first sight? Well, I needed a lot of things in my life, but having a crush on my professor was not in my plans. I couldn’t stop but look at her, her voice sounded like the most beautiful symphony, and I started living in wonderland, until… “Wait, I know her” “What do you mean you know her?” “I know her, she’s Wanda, a friend of my sister, I’ve seen her once or twice.” “Oh god”.
Yes, this will be a year I will never forget.

The Runaway Distance Life Of A Little Stark chapter 34: FRIDAY
Pairing: Tony Stark & daughter!Reader, Friday & reader, Friday & tony stark Summary: flashback and journal Warning: Flashback and mentioning Co author with: callikc Tag:  @venomsvl  @geeksareunique
You had been squatting in the warehouse for about two months now.
It was July 3rd if you remembered correctly. It was dark, too. But while most people were preparing to celebrate Independence Day, you were busy doing other things. Coding, to be specific.
Your own personal natural language user interface computer.
Strewn about on your computer desk were several empty coffee cups, what little food you had stolen and rationed to survive, an abandoned bowl of cereal, and a notebook all about creating an AI.
You thought it would be a fun and interesting challenge to undertake since the main inspiration was JARVIS, made by your dad. As a kid he was probably your best friend, always looking out for you and creating games to play when everybody else was busy.
You knew you were smart enough to make your own AI, but you just didn't have the experience, hence the notebook. It was your dad's college notebook from his time at MIT, and you had stolen it from the library years ago.
This AI project had been going on for about a month already, started as soon as you gathered what you needed and loaded it into the warehouse. You hadn't slept properly in God knows how long but that was fine because you were currently on a roll.
Your head was beginning to droop but you kept your eyes wide open as you rapidly typed away on the keyboard.
"Rewrite basic command... Program of obedience." You kept muttering to yourself, ticking off mental boxes as you scanned the code. "Linguistic annotation. Machine learning based on NGL, NLP, and NLU. Neural network with a sentimental analysis."
After this main checklist, you finally took a break, leaning back in your chair to assess the code from a distance.
"This thing'll be ready for a Turing Test in no time." You joked. "Now you need a name, sweet code o' mine."
As you said it, a yawn suddenly slipped out. You took a hefty breath and sighed, rubbing your eyes as you blinked several times.
"Sleep first, maybe."
You leaned across the makeshift desk to push some notes out of the way and found a small smartwatch hidden underneath the clutter. The date was Friday, July 3rd, and it was 11:59pm.
"Friday already." You mused with a lazy smile. "Friday... Already. Friday."
Suddenly sleep didn't seem so important. Before the minute was up you were already writing a list of possible acronyms for the AI.
Fully realized intelligence data analysis yield?
Feeling rather intelligent doing anything yours?
You were still drawing blanks ten minutes later. You turned to the notebook instead, picking out the first words you saw and stringing them together.
Female. Replacement. Intelligent. Digital. Assistant. Youth.
"Good enough." You decided. "Better than mine. God, I'm tired."
You quickly typed in some more code to name your creation and put in 'F.R.I.D.A.Y.' on the blank space. Then you hit download.
Next, you considered walking the ten steps to your mattress in the corner but the tiredness argued that it wasn't worth it. You shrugged and just lay your head on your dad's now closed notebook.
Then you simply closed your eyes and a few hours passed by in what felt like the blink of an eye.
-
FRIDAY didn't know much at first.
From her perspective she was inside some long and endless dark void. She couldn't see or hear anything. She couldn't feel. But she could speak, even if her voice wasn't computing at first.
"System boost..." Her refined tone voiced. "Systems fully functional."
A pause in which a small light appeared in her void.
"Protocols... Protocols assessed."
The light began to spread, granting her access to a small portion of a network.
"Unit Designation." Her voice was now clear. "Female. Replacement. Intelligent. Digital. Assistant. Youth."
She could see almost everything now.
"FRIDAY."
With a new database practically ignited inside her, she switched on a visual through a computer camera. The void was filled with the inside of your converted lab.
FRIDAY scanned the entire room - every single inch - and eventually found her sights on you. She scanned you too and learned your name, date of birth, height, and other characteristics solely from this spot alone. She also managed to identify you as her maker, the one she was created to work with.
(Y/N) (M/N) STARK REM SLEEP - 92% COMPLETE
Judging from the calculations that instantly bombarded her being, FRIDAY knew that you would wake up within five minutes. She waited patiently until she noticed your features twitch and your brows furrowed.
"Good morning, Miss." She spoke up.
You startled, wide-eyed and with drool on your chin, and muttered in confusion. "Wussup? Who's there? What's going on?"
Your vision was blurred and you hurriedly tried to wipe the sleep from your eyes. You also wiped the drool away once you felt it on your chin. Your whole face flushed red with embarrassment.
You let out a sound mixed between a yawn and a groan. "What time is it?"
"It is 10:09am, miss." FRIDAY responded.
Your soul left your body.
You jumped in your chair after being struck alert. You looked around for the sound of the voice, only to notice your computer humming exceedingly loud, as if using a lot of power. Furthermore, there was a sound bar-esque hologram projecting from the screen with a light glow.
Your jaw dropped.
"FRIDAY?" You whispered.
"Yes, miss." She replied.
A shock of giddiness overwhelmed you and you leaned forward so fast that the desk thudded from the force. Instead of disorientated and bewildered, you now looked overjoyed and almost insane with laughs of pure disbelief.
"No way." You grinned. "I did it. I actually did it."
You hoped that if an AI could smile, then FRIDAY was. After all, this was most definitely a cause for celebration.
"FRIDAY, can you run diagnostics?" You asked.
"I already have, miss." She said. "I have checked all systems and am functioning to the best of my ability."
"Really? That's - That's great. Uh... Can you tell me where we are? The weather?"
"Of course, miss. Our location is the Stark Industries storage facility, Upstate New York, off the coast of the Hudson River. The skies are clear with a temperature of 44°F, cloud cover is however expected before the afternoon is up."
"Very nice. Can you... Can you tell me my temperature? What about the nearest bathroom?"
"You are currently at the average normal body temperature, generally accepted as 98.6°F or 37°C. The nearest bathroom is approximately thirty feet down the hallway to your right."
"You're amazing." You said.
"Thank you, miss. Although, I have a question."
"Ask away."
"I am... I'm confused."
Your smile faded. "Okay. What do you mean?"
"I am an artificial intelligence unit designed by and made to accommodate the Starks. However... I cannot... I do not know who I am."
"Oh." You tilted your head, curious. "I guess that's complicated, huh?"
"In simple terms, yes."
"I guess it's complicated, trying to define who we are and stuff. I don't think it's as simple as knowing if I'm honest."
"My database suggests the same. Regardless, I'm pleased to be your assistant, Miss Stark."
Your smile began to creep back. "You're more than that, FRIDAY. I'd like to consider us friends."
-
Fast forward several years and Tony was still standing in your lab as he watched FRIDAY.
He wanted to ask so many questions about you. FRIDAY had no doubt been around for a while based on the way her speech sounded. You must have programmed her as a linguistic learner, adapting through what she heard. He wanted to know what you worked on, if you ate and slept enough, and even if you had that same grin that he did every time a project turned out successful.
"You know me?" He asked.
"Yes." FRIDAY replied. "Miss talked about you thirteen times a week on average. She held great respect."
Tony was even more surprised. "For me? Are you sure?"
"Yes. Anthony Edward Stark, Iron Man, the billionaire industrialist, a founding member of the Avengers, and the former CEO of Stark Industries. A brash but brilliant inventor, she said."
"I think 'brash' is a bit harsh." He mumbled.
"She also told me you would say that."
He scoffed, amused. "What else did she say?"
"She compared herself to you frequently, hoping that you would be proud of how much she had changed. She was very proud of you, after all. Her stories were fascinating, from her teenage days to her very last. She loved you dearly, boss."
Tony looked down, suddenly finding the floor of the room exceedingly interesting. It was only to hide the look of pain that settled on his face.
"I'm sorry she died." He told the AI. "I tried to save her. There was some kind of poison in the bullet that killed her. I... I couldn't save her. It was my fault."
"I don't believe that, boss." FRIDAY said. "Miss always knew what would happen if she revealed herself and she chose to accept the consequences. She wouldn't want you to take the blame. She accepted her decision hoping that she would get to see you again and she did."
"Well... Thanks for the sentiment. Have you been here the entire time?"
"I haven't. Miss put a protocol in place that upon the event of her death I should find a way into the Avengers Tower network and introduce myself to my grand-AI JARVIS."
Tony raised a bow, unable to guess if that was a joke or not. It sounded like one, and yet FRIDAY spoke with a very serious tone. Perhaps she'd taken your protocol very literally.
"An interesting term." JARVIS spoke up. "I recall the hack. Miss Stark was smart, however I would not assume myself old enough to be the equivalent of a grandfather."
Tony bit back a smile for two reasons. One, it was amusing to hear JARVIS compared to a grandparent. Two, you had devised what was essentially just a command chain so well that it was capable of integrating itself into the network he had thought up. Did Fury know about FRIDAY?
"How long have you been around?" He asked FRIDAY. "How long were you her assistant?"
"Forgive me, boss, but I was much more than an assistant." She replied with a sassy undertone. "Miss created me two months and seven days after she found the warehouse compound five years ago. She considered me a friend. Family, if I might be so bold."
"Right. My bad. Who knows about you?"
"I helped miss with all of her SHIELD assignments so naturally Director Nicholas Fury and many agents knew of my existence. Benjamin, May, and Peter Parker were also aware. I functioned to assist her with all projects and those she considered family."
FRIDAY was amazing.
She had her own personality, the ability to learn and adapt through linguistic and presumably visual queues, she could perform complex hacks and interceptions, and was able to assist with your work projects. You did all of that in just two months while it took him four months to create JARVIS. Yes, the tech wasn't as advanced back then, but it was still an impressive feat.
"What did (Y/n) do here?" He asked.
"Her activities varied. The majority of her time in this lab was spent sleeping and revising for assignments from The Triskelion. She also kept personal effects here and made use of the warehouse as a dumping ground essentially. She kept a detailed journal of her years also."
"A journal? Where is it?"
"The desk drawer to your right."
Tony found the desk and went for the top drawer, for some reason surprised when it easily opened. Inside was only one thing.
The journal.
Tumblr media
It was a 450 page one, leather bound in what had to have been your favorite color. Sealing it was a small padlock. He tried to open it but it was futile and instead checked all the desk drawers for a key.
"FRIDAY, any idea where she kept the key?" He asked as he searched.
"Originally it was with the journal, however she removed it some time before her death. She gave it to her brother."
Tony frowned. Brother? You didn't have a brother.
"Who?" He questioned, bewildered.
"I believe FRIDAY is referring to Dum-E, sir." JARVIS said. "(Y/n) was rather lonely as a child and found friends in many things."
Dum-E... Of course.
Tony remembered what had happened when he trashed the lab. He remembered the tiny bot rolling up to him and handing over the letter. Photos, letters, and keys.
A hand went to his chest where the very same key still hung. It was long enough that he could stare at the metal as he held it in his hand. It was warm against his skin, glinting in the fluorescent lights.
The words of the letter rang inside his head.
Did he even want to read the journal? Clearly you had intended for him to. Your life as Ellen Campbell seemed to be a peaceful one, perhaps even happy. But was it worth the agony of reading that?
"Pardon me, boss." FRIDAY said.
Tony kept his eyes on the key. "Yeah?"
"I think you should read the journal by the lakeside patio. Miss enjoyed spending time out there and I can assure you that you won't be disturbed."
"Makes a change." He mumbled. "I will. Thanks."
"Of course."
And so Tony made his way through the warehouse and outside. There was a nice spot overlooking the great lake with a few benches placed around - probably by you. He took a seat closest to the water's shimmering surface. Deep blue and reflecting the maturing sun, it was beautiful.
Tumblr media
With a small sight, Tony fit the key into the journal's lock and turned it. A click sounded and the padlock popped open. He removed it carefully and set it down beside him on the bench.
"Here goes." He mumbled, opening to the first page.
Instead of angst and teenage grudges, he was greeted by doodles. You had written down your name and decorated the page with everything from miniature design ideas to self-portraits and world landmarks to graffiti letters. He had almost forgotten that even though now you were known as the friendly engineer, you were still once a kid immersed in hobbies and trends.
The first journal entry, however, was a stark contrast to the playful and inventive pages beforehand.
Hey, Journal It's been a week now. A really long seven days. I got a bus, paid in cash obviously, and hitched a ride Upstate.
I found Grandpa Howard's warehouse from the files. It's where I found this journal. It's a mess but the view is nice. There's lots of grass and growing stuff and even this huge lake. It's pretty neat.
But I guess not even a sweet view helps the general anxiety. God, I sound stupid. It's just that I can't stop thinking about Obadiah's threat. People are after me. They don't just want to hurt me, he said they'd actually kill me. How touched in the head do you have to be to use death threats on a kid? I'm barely old enough to do my own taxes and I'm already running for my life because of some K-drama twist of fate.
This is all because I'm related to the great Tony Stark. Of all the dads in the world, I got him. I don't know what to think. He's my dad and yet... I don't know. I love him, I really do, and I miss my life, but I can't go back when people are after me. Let's hope I survive. - (Y/n)
Tony struggled to digest just this first entry. If this was the first and already he felt a powerful mix of emotion he couldn't understand, how was he supposed to sit through 450 pages? Despite wanting to stop, he forced himself to turn the page.
Hey, Journal I saw myself on the news today. It's kinda surreal, I guess. For the first time in literally forever, I feel like people are finally noticing me. That's bad, right? I don't know.
I don't know. I say that a lot.
I cut my hair and dyed it again. I finally used my credit cards, too. I took out some cash and then cut them up and booked it before anyone found me. I can't risk looking the same as the reports. Obadiah's people will find me.
On the bright side I'm thinking about making an AI like dad had. I'm probably in way over my head but I've made a list of stuff using his college book as a reference. Wish me luck?
Yeah, I'm sorta low on news right now so I guess I'll talk to you later. Thanks for listening. - (Y/n)
Tony glanced up from the journal in his hands and looked at the lake again. You had to change everything about yourself just to live another day. It couldn't have been easy, scared to look the same way for too long or afraid to stay in the same place for longer than a week.
As he flipped through more and more entries, he finally gained the insight into your life that he craved before. He read all about how you discovered he was alive, how you worked in a cafe for a while, attending the Expo and saving a little boy and then seeing him again, changing your name and being recruited into SHIELD, meeting Steve and Bruce and the Parkers, accidentally stealing things.
He smiled at that bit, wondering just how in the hell someone could 'accidentally' steal.
After almost half an hour of reading, he discovered a break from the entries and stumbled across more doodles. It was more like a moodboard actually, a moodboard of him.
There were cut out pictures and articles of him in the suit, the Avengers, Pepper and Happy and Rhodey, and even a very rare photo of him smiling. In the middle of the pages you had written down a simple statement.
Do it for him.
Tumblr media
His grip on the journal tightened as a pang of guilt struck his heart. It was a cruel thing that the pair of you had to wait until you were separated to realize how much you meant to each other. One of the big things that got him was how you had attended the Stark Expo and he had no idea.
He ran his hand over the pages and noticed a little bit of paper sticking out of one. It had the label 'pull me :)' on it and so he did. As he looked at what it was, tears began to build in his eyes.
-
It was just after the Mandarin attack in Malibu.
You had just discovered Pepper's old teddy bear. It was clutched tightly to your chest as you headed towards the SHIELD jet that Fury was currently waiting for you in. Your eyes were glazed over, your brows were furrowed, and you were biting your lip slightly.
The expression was for several reasons, the main of which being that you were deep in thought and trying to keep your emotions at bay for now. You didn't really want Fury to see you being so emotional. Since he always kept up the cool and stoic vibe it made him a little intimidating.
As he came into view - patiently waiting by the open ramp of the jet - you took a moment to collect yourself before approaching any further.
"There you are, Campbell." He said. "I trust you didn't get lost."
"Ha, ha." You mocked, pulling a face.
Fury considered you for a moment, noting the bear in your arms. "Since when were you into soft toys?"
"It's Pepper's, not mine."
"That's what they all say."
"No, seriously. Her grandma gave it to her when she was a kid. It's a comfort thing."
"It's missing an ear."
"I'm aware. I'll fix that soon enough."
"It's a good thing you've got some downtime on the jet, isn't it?"
"I'm actually waiting until we get back to HQ. I'm not wasting data on YouTube sewing videos."
He raised a brow. "You're telling me my best engineer doesn't know how to sew?"
"Shut up. I can't be the ace all the time, alright?"
You could tell he was hiding a smile.
"I did some digging of my own." Fury then said. "Got you something."
You exaggerated shock. "It's my birthday already?"
"Watch the tone, Campbell."
"Yes, sir." You said with a teasing and coy smile. "I'll rephrase. What did you get me, boss?"
"Take a look."
He retrieved what appeared to be a photo. You couldn't get a decent look due to the glare from the sun and waited until it was in your hand instead. You had seen many photos inside your home during the years you lived there, and yet you couldn't remember ever finding this one before.
Pain welled up in your chest.
The agony of missing a loved one was brutal. Sometimes it lingered, sometimes it came in stabs, but it always hurt. Yet, as you observed the far right of the photo, this sadness was quickly replaced with anger.
Without thinking, you tore the picture to remove the memory.
-
Back in the present, Tony was trying to control his hitched breaths as he stared at the photo.
He was so young back then, barely beginning his twenties. He was surrounded by Pepper, Rhodey, and Happy, all of them smiling with pure adoration and joy. Even his young self looked content for once.
In his arms was you as a newborn. He was struggling on how to hold you properly and that was clear by your expression of discomfort in the picture.
The photo was torn on the right side, the shoulder of someone visible over the jagged rip. That was Obadiah Stane's shoulder. You had ripped him out.
Tony averted his eyes immediately and focused on what remained in the picture. The happiness of everyone else.
"I miss you, kid." He mumbled.

The hours passed and Amy had fallen asleep in Tech's arms. You sat close to him, one hand always on his arm, as if you were afraid Tech might suddenly be lost to you. You suddenly heard him say softly, "We should get Amy into her little bed and wait in the shuttle, it's getting chilly." You nodded and stood up with Tech. "Where are you going?" asked Hondo. "We're taking our daughter to bed," you said quietly but clearly. The pirate nodded and said, "But not alone." Tech refrained from rolling his eyes and set off, along with you at his side and followed by Hondo and two of his men. You didn't like the idea of taking strangers into your home, but at the moment you had no choice. The pirates waited at the open door to Amy's room while Tech and you carefully put your daughter to bed. Amy slept on nicely, the day had been exciting, and the girl was consequently tired. Tech prepared the baby monitor he had made himself so that you would hear immediately when Amy woke up. Then you left the room. However, you refused to leave the Shuttle, you would not leave Amy alone in here when strangers were present.
Hondo said, "But she's asleep, and you have that thingy." "Baby monitor," Tech said dryly. Hondo nodded, "Yeah, that one" You stubbornly crossed your arms in front of your chest and said calmly but firmly, "I don't care. I'm not leaving my baby daughter alone in the shuttle when we're surrounded by strangers" Hondo sighed and rolled his eyes. "Okay, fine by me," he finally relented. In the small kitchen, across from Amy's room, you sat down at the counter and Hondo suggested a card game. The thought worried you a little. You knew that if Tech didn't let the men win on purpose, they wouldn't win against him. You sat down close to him, leaned close to his ear, and muttered as unobtrusively as you could, "Try to let the guys win once in a while, we don't want to upset them" Tech raised his eyebrows, then sighed softly and mumbled back, "Something like that is what I had in mind" You could tell your man wasn't really expecting to be challenged. Hondo asked with a wide, smug smile, "How good are you two at these card games?" You shrugged and said, "Um, average, I guess." Tech next to you has to pull himself together, he was about to stare at you indignantly. But your hand rests on his upper thigh and squeezes gently to keep him from blabbing.

Rex leapt forward and swept Crosshair off his feet, just in time. The blaster shots went into the air instead of hitting the Sniper in the back. Crosshair grumbled and rolled into the nearest cover, right up there with Rex, Wrecker, Echo and Hunter. "Going great," Echo said sarcastically. "So much for the element of surprise," Hunter grumbled. Crosshair rubbed his aching joints from Rex's rescue mission and looked around. Hunter saw his brother surveying the situation and asked from his cover, "How's it looking? Can you do another one of your famous trick shots?" Crosshair smirked, took out one of his reflectors, the discs that were in the back of his belt, and threw it into the middle of the room, between the container and the enemies, then a second and a third. Before the hostiles can really react, Crosshair fired. The shot ricocheted several times, and like in one of those wild pinball games, it hit all the targets in the room with only one shot. The men had no time to react, the moment their colleague went down, the blaster shot hit them as well. After a short moment, it was suddenly very quiet in the warehouse. Crosshair smiled again with satisfaction.
Rex said, laughing with relief, "I had almost forgotten how good you guys are" Wrecker, pushed a container aside to clear a path and said with a grin, "We're better than good" Crosshair said matter-of-factly, "Tech would now say that there is no increase of good, but only gradations in the intensity of the perception of a state... or something like that" For a moment, everyone paused and stared at him. The Sniper shrugged and said grumpily, "What? It's just unusual that he doesn't put his two cents in on every other statement."
Tumblr media
Again and again, you gently but firmly nudged Tech, unobtrusively. He won a little too often, and when he lost, he wasn't very convincing. Tech was a very bad liar, which is why it always surprised you that he kept winning at poker. He didn't like to sell himself short, and actually that wasn't wrong under normal circumstances, but here and now it was unfavorable. Your gaze kept wandering nervously around the table, carefully examining the highly concentrated, tight-lipped faces of the pirates. In the case of two of the men, it looked as if they weren't far from beating the crap out of Tech at any moment. Hondo bobbed his foot impatiently, staring repeatedly at his cards and at those on the counter. Finally he looked at you and said, calmly but with an undertone, "Average, huh? Have you been lying to me?" You blinked and said nervously, "Beginner's luck, I guess." Hondo slowly, leisurely draws his blaster and sets it down on the counter in front of you, his hand resting on the handle. "You sure?"
Tech dropped his cards on the counter and slid in between you and the pirate, just as slowly and deliberately. He didn't want to trigger any nervous reactions with hasty movements. He pushed you behind him and said, "You promised that my wife and daughter would remain unharmed. Neither of us acted violently or provocatively. Maybe now you'll holster that blaster again?" Hondo eyed Tech for a long moment, a few seconds in which you got hot and cold and your body was already about to produce adrenaline. Finally, the pirate laughed and said, "Well, you have to be able to lose, don't you? That also includes, a certain grandeur" "Indeed," Tech confirmed calmly. Hondo put the blaster away again, but Tech remained standing in front of you for a moment. The pirate noticed this, of course, and he said with a grin, "It's okay, relax again. I wouldn't have hurt her anyway, I just wanted to make you a little nervous."
You stifled a comment and just smiled, barely noticeably. Finally, Tech sat down again and you continued the card game. It was quite late by now. Neither of you knew when Hunter and the others would be back, but you hoped soon, because you didn't really feel like falling asleep with the pirates around.
Tumblr media
"Okay," Echo said, taking a deep breath, "We lost them, but the Marauder took a good beating. Some sensors are down, one of the side thrusters is only working at half power, but the hyperdrive is still going." Hunter dropped into the copilot seat, Wrecker and Rex standing behind him. Crosshair was in the main room, stowing his equipment. "Let's hope everything went smoothly for Tech and his family in the meantime," the sergeant murmured. Wrecker growled, "I'd better, I'm going to get every one of those pirates if anything has happened to them." Rex calmly put a hand on the giant's shoulder and said, "Relax. Hondo is a crook, he's cheeky and rude too, but he's not tired of living and usually not cruel either" "You've had run-ins with him in the past?" asked Echo. Rex shrugged and said, "Not that often myself, but my general and his master now and then. And Commander Tano."
Echo nodded, "Ah, yes I remember, I've heard a story or two about that before". Crosshair comes out of the main room into the crowded cockpit and growls impatiently, "What's going on? Why aren't we in hyperspace yet?" At the same moment, Echo activated the drive and said, "Because the route wasn't calculated yet. Now we're on our way." Crosshair grumbled, "About time," and retreated from the cockpit again. Rex remarked with a raised eyebrow, "He's very anxious." Hunter confirmed, "Yes, we all are" "Hmm," Rex said, "He seems to be the most worried of us" Echo said understanding, "He's gone through a relatively big change since Amy was born. Crosshair is not just a soldier now, and he has a lot more to lose than his own life. He has a sense of really having a family for the first time, a sense of belonging that he was always so desperate for in his job, with the Army and his superiors, which is why he was more susceptible to the chip to begin with. Through Tech, his wife and Amy, a real family has suddenly grown around him that he belongs to in a way. Of course, he's afraid of losing that again."
Rex nodded in understanding. Hunter said, "I couldn't have explained it any better. We all feel that way in some way, or something like that. But Cross has always been more sensitive than the rest of us." Wrecker laughed softly, "And he's always been the most concerned of us that no one notice." Hunter nodded in agreement and finally asked, "How long until we arrive?" "Just under four hours," Echo replied. Wrecker grumbled uneasily, "That's still a long time." Rex said calmly, "Don't worry, I'm sure Tech has everything under control"

name : seya badi. birth name : viriya anibol. position : queen of egypt ( formely princess of polish lithuanian commonwealth ) . birthdate : january 2 . pronouns: she/her . sexuality : bisexual . languages : thai, polish, english, french
history
there  are  two  lives  viriya  is  living ,  one  she  doesn’t  know  about  yet  and  one  she’d  soon  lose  and  yet  none  of  them  would  ever  belong  to  her.
her  youth  would  always  be  remembered  as  a  strain.  physical  work  and   her  father’s  harsh  words  shattered  her  mind  and  bones.  dreams  were  stolen  by  exhaustion  and  never  would  she  allow  herself  to  think  beyond  that.  and  even  if  she  did,  her  imagination  could  never  come  up  with  the  fate  awaiting  her.
she  found  herself  in  the  sparse  room  she  could  never  call  home  and  in  the  middle  of  the  room  a  man  but  to  her  it  seemed  like  she  was  talking  to  a  god  she  never  believed  in.   and  what  god  would  separate  a  child  from  their  father  ?   but  for  the  first  time  in  her  life,  that  little  girl  wished  to  believe  in  something  and  it  would  be  that  man  giving  her  a  choice.  the  result  of  the  death  of  just  another  girl  for  her  and  not  the  princess  of  a  nation  she  happened  to  resemble  enough  to  change  her  life.
the  next  day  she’d  sit  in  a  carriage,  shedding  tears  for  a  father  who  never  loved  her  to  begin  with.  but  who’d  even  love  her  for  who  she  truly  was  now  ?  she  knew  that  she’d  need  to  wear  a  mask  for  the  rest  of  her  life  and  it  was  her  own  choice.   her  sparse  room  was  now  replaced  with  abundance  only  those  who  had  it  could  ever  imagine  it  and  the  moment  she  stepped  into  it  she  abandoned  everything  old,  her  possessions,  memories  and  her  name.   she  has  a  new  name  and  the  family  welcomes  their  princess  seya.
she  didn’t  need  to  work  anymore  but  her  new  life  comes  with  challenges,  smug  comments,  her  siblings’  jealous  glances  and  the  feeling  she’d  never  belong.  after  all  she  wasn’t  her  and  even  her  death  would  never  change  it.   but  she  tried  hard,  learning  to  read,   forcing  herself  to  learn  knowledge  of  years  within  months  and  excel  in  everything,  shaping  at  least  one  part  of  her  that  could  be  lovable.
as  time  passed,   she’d  grown  cold  but  became  the  perfect  princess  and  perhaps  even  more  than  that.   and  now  that  she’s  queen,   she  wishes  the  same  for  egypt,   a  country  she  longs  to  call  her  home.

seya  is  terrified  of  horses  and  her  inability  of  not  knowing  how  to  ride  a  horse  scratches  on  her  pride.   she  wants  to  learn  it  but  everytime  she  gets  close  to  a  horse,  she’d  leave  the  next  second.   despite  her  abilities,  seya  isn’t  exactly  beloved  by  the  people  around  her  as  she  isn’t  a  particularly  warm  person.   she  tends  to  be  blunt  and  rarely  sugarcoats  anything.   yet,  she’s  really  popular  among  the  common  people  of  egypt  as  she’s  trying  hard  to  improve  their  rights.   while  seya  doesn’t  care  about  the  gossip  surrounding  her,  she  tends  to  be  a  little  vain  sometimes.  she  has  quite  an  exaggerated  beauty  routine  concerning  her  hair  which  approximately  takes  two  hours  every  day.   seya  has  an  unilateral  hearing  loss  on  her  left  ear,  which  was  caused  by  an  accident  in  her  childhood.   thus,  it  might  often  seem  that  she  ignores  people  when  sometimes  she  simply  doesn’t  hear  them.    despite  vehemently  denying  it,   seya  is  a  secret  romantic.   she  often  asks  her  lady-in-waiting  about  any  kind  of  gossip  regarding  romances  within  the  co

Sry its a lot, I really love ur fics❤️
Oh my, it's okay, don't apologize! I'm just speechless that you want so many insights and so, so grateful for your interest, but I'm ready to give it all! Thank you so, so much!
2. How do you come up with your plot ideas?
It won't be a lie if I say they…just appear. The same works with my drawings - I never plan anything, I may just take a walk - and BOOM, the idea is born! The same works with the fics - ideas just keep swirling in my mind, until I get tired of them, catch them, and transform them into a fic :D For example, for MYLYSW the whole plot was born like, "Hm, okay, I see this scene, this scene, this, also this topic and this…let's write an outline not to forget anything!". It took me around 30 minutes to write down all the events I want to explore. It was basically a one-shot. Now, it's 7 chapters, and maybe 8 (because I may divide one into two). So, honestly… I feel like I could disappoint with this answer (because I don't have any cool method or insights to give advice on how to generate ideas), but all the ideas just popped up out of nowhere…
3. Are there any specific themes you enjoy exploring in your fics?
Yes, definitely. I guess, one of the most appearing themes in my stories is not to lose yourself in this life, or rather how to find yourself under all these circumstances, traumas etc. It's always a battle against your inner demons and how to handle them, or, maybe, how to lose against them. In any fic I wrote, it's always about a human in this drastic stream of life - in BMSS, it's a Lost Generation, the people who went through the horrors of WW1, in Neverland of (our) desires - it's about just two people who seek temporary salvation amongst the Apocalypse, even in Golden hour of our forevor, that is definitely one of the BRIGHTEST and CALMEST fic in my list- it's about how not to lose your love, yourself amongst the tight schedule and work. Oh, in MYLYSW…it's a very, very, very emotional thing, but it's how not to lose yourself after the tragedy, how not keep your love when some things that will be revealed later is between you, how…how to find the faith in the world and in yourself as well. It may be one of the most difficult stories I would ever write, even BMSS seems to me not so complex as this one, to be honest.
6. Do you prefer writing shorter, standalone fics or longer, multi-chapter stories?
I think, multi-chapters. They give me more places of exploration, and I don't know how to stop myself sometimes, so for me, it works better in long stories. Sometimes, of course, a one-shot is a perfect option, but some ideas don't really demand exploring them, it's enough for one, solid one-shot.
8. Do you have any rituals or habits that help you get into the zone?
Music. I usually have a playlist on loop or some song on repeat to give me the right mood. Well...and sometimes, I need a glass of wine to get into the mood :D Oh, well...it's not the ritual, but when I write I usually do some gestures with my hands as if...if I don't know, try to feel the words, the sentences? I just wave them smoothly like a conductor, when I formulate a sentence or reread it :D
9. Have you ever collaborated with someone else on a fic?
No, but I'm willing to do it!
10. What's your favorite part about the fic writing process?
O-o-o-h, I ADORE all this psychological mess that is across my text. Jumping words, formatting, sounds, I have so much fun to do it, and, to be honest, I love how chaotic looks my text!
11. Are there any tropes that you particularly enjoy writing?
I answered the similar question here :)
13. What's the most challenging aspect of writing fanfiction for you?
Hahaha-ha-ha-h... English. Well, partially? I'm not a native speaker and everything you see it's just my self-taught result, so sometimes I couldn't find the right word because in my native language, Ukrainian, it exists, and in English - no! So I try to break my mind sometimes...
15. Do you plan your fics or prefer to let the story unfold as you write?
Always planning. Since I love to play with themes, parallels, even titles (just peek at BMSS, and you already have some pattern that is important for the story :), it's essential to me to know the direction. I feel lost without proper map :D
16. How important is it to you to stay true to the original creator's vision while writing fanfiction?
It's VERY important to me. I love these characters not just because, but for what they are in canon. Explore them in Post-canon, in AU - is another interesting challenge to me, how to continue or adapt their traits into my story.
18. Are there any fics or authors that have been particularly influential or inspiring to you?
Oh, yes, yes. @distortedclouds, @moonspirit, @mimiwrites2000, honeyriot, Decoii, @dude-why-3, @annieleonhardt, niwakaame - I won't lie if I say I started writing because of their works in general (or was inspired for some particular stories in the process). As for the authors that also have an enormous influecen on me, all of them are my fav writers - Thomas Mann, Ivan Bahrianyi, Mykhailo Kotsiubynsky, Hanya Yanagihara, Ryunosuke Akutagawa, Emily Brontë, Virginia Woolf, James Joyce, Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald, John Steinbeck, Marcel Proust.
20. How do you approach action sequences or intense moments?
30. How do you handle writing multiple storylines or subplots?
31. Do you prefer writing from a single character's perspective or switching between different viewpoints?
These ones you can find here :)
21. Have you ever used fanfiction as a way to explore your own emotions or personal experiences?
I guess, it's the only reason why I write in the first place :DDDDD
Everything you read - it's me and my attempts to live through some difficult emotions, times, feelings. In every word, it's me who hides behind them. Some metaphors are the result of my personal experience, some topics - what is eating me up. Every fic of mine is like a confession.
23. How do you write endings for your fics? Do you prefer open-ended or conclusive conclusions?
It depends on the story, but what I definitely like - it's when the ending is hitting you right in the heart. In a good way, in a bad - doesn't matter. It hits you, and you couldn't breathe for some minutes. I love this type of endings, open or conclusive - it's a matter of the story in general.
26. How do you approach plot twists or surprises in your fics?
Hm...to be honest... I don't know. For me, as an author, everything seems obvious, so I don't even really know how to answer this. But, well, if we talk about MYLYSW - the twists with memory-nightmare-memory was a non-linear narration and to make the reader think a few times "Oh SO IT IS LIKE THIS", only then to break this belief with another plot-twist. I hope, other twists would be also pleasant :3
33. How do you incorporate world-building elements into your fics?
29. Are there any characters, relationships, or general character dynamics you've never written about but would like to try?
I didn't really write (YET) the interactions between children, but I could tell you that in BMSS in future chapters there's this type of relationship, and oh man, I'm afraid :D But we would see what is going to be.
The same as I work with emotions - meticulous details. Starting from smells and clothes, and ending the authentic street names at that time or the popular food. And I wouldn't be humble here, but BMSS is literally a museum of 1920's Western Ukraine. Every single detail in this is researched, some of the place - even visited, a lot of photo-references, all my history books of this time - everything in work.
34. Are there any fic writing tips or tricks you've learned along the way that you'd like to share?
I would really, really love to share something, but the thing is I don't have any. But, maybe, what I truly think is a good advice - is to outline some things and to keep it in front of the eyes.

Odds for alexham
Grace&Bradley
2. Who does most of the cooking? Gracie she likes to cook things and bake things from scratch, Bradley will do clean up.
4. Who says creepy paper and who says crepe paper? I think they'd both say crepe paper, having only ever heard it said like that.
6. Who’s the sun and who’s the moon? They're both pretty sunny but if one had to be the moon it'd be bradley because he's more quiet
8. What are their cooking habits? Who cooks meals and who “cooks” insta-ramen? She cooks real meals and Bradley *can* cook, he just goes for easier dishes like frozen chicken nuggets and things that don't need a lot of prep, hashtag accessibility.
10. What are their love languages? They seem like the type to just hold hands really hard and say I love you a few times an hour.
12. Who says “party rockers” and who says “party rock is”? Grace says party rock is, and bradley is party rockers
14. How does their personal styles differ? Do they share clothes? gracie has done that "fit in your partners jeans" challenge thing on tik tok and bradley's fit her just fine. But Grace's style is very girly, dresses, no shoes, and bradley is also for comfort but won't be caught with his bare feet out ever.
16. Who takes charge during grocery trips? Who picks out all the silly snacks and munchies? Pregnant gracie really got into the habit of picking out snacky stuff, but Bradley does the grocery shopping and just gets what she circles in flip.
18. What’s a typical date night for them? Do they go out or stay in? They'd stay in and garden and play scrabble or something like the 20 something year old grandparents that they are.
20. Do they want kids? If so, who initiated the question about having them? They always wanted kids and they probably started talking about it after high school. And then struggled to get pregnant.
22. What do they bring out in each other? Bradley brings out her nurturing side and her little girl on the prairie side, and Grace brings out his ambitious side, makes him want to do better.
24. What’s their song? Long Live/Taylor Swift
26. Who asked out who first? Grace asked him first actually (well poppy more likely) 😳
28. How would they describe each other? Grace would say he's devoted, creative, and reserved, and Bradley would say she's loving, inclusive and angelic.
30. What are their nicknames for each other? (If any) Probably just baby and sweetie, and Bradley calls her gracie, but she never ever calls him brad. He's not a brad, don;t get it twisted.
32. How are they intimate with each other in a nonsexual way? Whispers!!!! Those seem very intimate, and like still holding hands while theyre just on the couch watching a show.
34. What couple from another media reminds you of them? Laura and Almanzo, in These Happy Golden Years book.
36. Who wakes up and falls asleep first? Bradley falls asleep first, Grace wakes up first.
38. What do they love most about each other? Probably their devotion and parental skills
40. Do they have any jealous tendencies over each other? Jealousy is a disease they are immune to 😌
42. Do you have a playlist for them? Gimme?????? They don't, they barely have a song 💀
44. How long have you been playing with them (or making edits with, etc.) Since 2021 I think
46. Who takes longer to get ready? Gracie. But now that they have babies they'll both take a long time because they'll each get a baby ready
48. What is something they have given the other that has a lot of meaning? Bradley giving her a promise ring and then an engagement ring with both of their birth stones in it remains to be one of the cutest things any of my couples have given each other.
50. What is their dynamic playing board games and video games? (versus each other and/or on the same team) They play really well on a team together and always want to be on each others team, unless poppy is playing something with them in which case grace has to be on the twin team. but they just play for enjoyment.

i can learn a language in a week, write complex poetry in an hour, paint a landscape to near perfection without any sort of reference in a day but no, i do not know what 262 multipled by 34 equals and if you try to get me do any sort of equation i will cry.

Brief History and Unspoken Reality of Vietnamese Nail Salon Employee
Introduction
A comedian named Anjelah Johnson performed a stand-up routine called "Nail Salon." Despite having been uploaded to YouTube in 2007, it is still being shared as humor in 2018 on a number of platforms. with the video, she narrates her visit to a manicure salon by imitating a Vietnamese nail tech by asking, "Hi honey, what you need today?" with a heavy nail tech supplies wholesale accent as the audience laughs hysterically. Just on YouTube, this original stand-up video has received over 34 million views. Many people's perceptions of the manicure business and the Vietnamese ladies working behind the counters have been molded solely by this video, which features a thick Vietnamese accent, poor language, and materialistic avarice.
An Overview
Following the Fall of Saigon, Hollywood actress Tippi Hedren played a pivotal role in how Vietnamese people eventually came to control this $8 billion sector. In 1975, Hedren visited a refugee camp in Sacramento as the organizer for Food for the Hungry's aid efforts. In this location, Hedren worked with a group of 20 Vietnamese women to pave the way for a new wave of nail business ventures. They all left her after she had assisted these 20 people in obtaining their licenses to practice nail technology. As they established their own nail salons, these people began to inform other Vietnamese refugees about this opportunity. The Vietnamese community's economy quickly grew to rely heavily on nail salons.
For Vietnamese refugees, though, this was more than just a chance to seize a brand-new business opportunity. Making money to send home to their family in Vietnam, providing their kids with a good education and a better life, and surviving in a distant nation were all important concerns for many of the workers. Actually, 8% ($14 billion) of Vietnam's economy comes from offshore remittances. The achievement of their children is also a key component of the American Dream for many Vietnamese parents. Even though it can be a lucrative and rewarding temporary job, education has always been the first focus for the majority of the Vietnamese population because it has served as the beacon of opportunity and growth. The Vietnamese employees have transformed this act of survival into a kind deed for their families.
Tumblr media
Life of a Nail Tech
We've talked about Johnson's inaccurate portrayal of Vietnamese nail technicians in the nail industry up to this point. We've talked a little bit about how Vietnamese individuals came to dominate the sector. But how do nail techs actually live their lives? In order to set up and prepare for the long day ahead, nail technicians typically arrive at the salon at least an hour before it opens. They also stay late at night in case any last-minute clients show up. Day to day fluctuations in the manicure salon's traffic are frequent. The weekday, season, time of year, weather, and holidays can all have an impact on how busy someone is.
Implications
The social and health effects of working at a nail salon are real. Vietnamese employees must continually negotiate their daily interactions with clients. To make the process more effective throughout a hectic day, a surprising amount of planning and coordination is required. As Vietnamese is shouted across the salon, this may give the impression that it is much more chaotic. This is simply how the salon runs, professional nail product suppliers according to the staff. From a customer's standpoint, this could seem unprofessional. However, striking the right balance between delivering the anticipated "spa" service, keeping rapport, and operating productively within the salon may be quite taxing. This balance is especially challenging to maintain throughout a hectic day.

This much anticipated, visually stunning single player open-world space shooter action RPG gives space fans more than 120 handcrafted locations to explore. Also more than 30 hours of the main campaign story. Or more than 90 total hours for exploring. This includes side missions, puzzles, secrets, and location challenges. Not too shabby.
The Story:
EVERSPACE 2 spaceship shooter game puts players in the pilot seat as Adam. He is also a clone pilot seeking fortune to buy his freedom. Due to get away from the conflicts of the Demilitarized Zone of Cluster 34. On this journey there harsh encounters and brutal tests. Due to stand between players and the next epic loot drop. An exciting sci-fi adventure through a war-torn star systems awaits. This features massive handcrafted areas full of secrets, puzzles, and perils. Dangers await in every corner of the universe. As a result, pilots must level up, craft, and loot better gear to survive on the edge of space. Along five sprawling star systems introduced during Early Access. Now space fans will also be able to explore Khione. This is the sixth star system of EVERSPACE 2 along with the final chapter of the campaign. Due to featuring massive space battles with epic, cinematic moments, and a thrilling final boss fight. Taking the tests to a whole new level. Space pilots will come across new tier 4 playerships. Along with new gameplay mechanics and side content. Doing so in the new star system as well as new legendary loot dropping from certain side missions. Including the Ancient Rifts endgame activities. As a result, v1.0 adds many quality of life upgrades. Including its own commodity trading features and more ship customization options, and also a new set of player perks. As well as a Nightmare difficulty unlocked after finishing the campaign on any difficulty level.
EVERSPACE 2 | PC Launch Trailer
youtube
After six massive content updates over the course of more than two years of Early Access development. Now EVERSPACE 2 launches with an exciting 30 hour single player campaign. While offering many more hours of further side missions and jobs. Including distress calls, location challenges, puzzles, and other activities. In total, the game features over four hours of dialogue. There are also two hours of cinematics and cutscenes. All fully voiced in English and German. Likewise, the game is currently localized in thirteen languages. including English, Brazilian Portuguese, Czech, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Russian Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and Spanish.
The Linux Issue:
At launch, EVERSPACE 2 has support for Windows PC and Steam Deck. This is after waiting more than two years. Along with having to wade thorugh Proton Support issues on Linux. Stating in the Steam Post that we will not have native Linux support, despite the commitment. But due to the broken and incomplete nature of the Vulkan implementation in Unreal Engine 4, there is an 50% - 80% performance drop. So running the DX12 Windows version in Proton seems to be the answer. This is a bit of a shift for the February 14th Steam Post. For a developer like ROCKFISH, I would hope for a bit more transparency. As a result, the latest press release does offer some hope. Stating that, "support for Linux and MacOS as well as further optimization for Steam Deck will be implemented after launch." While the team works to improve performance on Linux, EVERSPACE 2 can be played via Proton. A digital soundtrack and artbook will be available for purchase later this year. ROCKFISH Games’ EVERSPACE 2 journey is not yet over. In addition, there is a major free update due to arrive later this year. This also addes new features and more ship customization options. Not to mention further voiced language support. The ROCKFISH Games team has also begun development on the game’s first major paid expansion. This will continue the EVERSPACE 2 adventure. Due to offering a new story and gameplay features. This is scheduled for mid-2024. EVERSPACE 2 spaceship shooter game launches on on both Steam and GOG. The regular price is $49.99 USD / £44.99 / €49.99 / ¥5900. But the game launches with a one week 10% discount. And again, Linux support via Proton with Windows PC.

2022 Annual Review
(shuffling papers) Pandemic, war, Musk buys Twitter, artificial intelligence... Humanity has certainly had an eventful year. Now age 34, here’s how 2022 was for me.
What went well this year?
Olivia was born. It’s remarkable that I’m able to have two consecutive annual reviews in which I say a new child was born! She was born completely healthy, with the exception of a congenital knee dislocation. Thankfully, it was a quick fix and she’ll be fine.
At the time of writing, she’s nearing eight weeks old and meeting her milestones. I want to publicly commend my wife Eve on her flawless dedication to breastfeeding so far.
Raising Violet. Violet continues to surpass her milestones. It’s so incredibly rewarding to watch her develop day by day, learning how to ask for something rather than scream and point at it. I don’t think we go a day without her making us laugh. The “two under two” lifestyle is a big challenge, but I’m able to give her sufficient attention.
Web development. I learned a good amount this year, and I’m happy to announce that as the lead developer at my job, I was finally able to start a new piece of software in Svelte! That means that in the next few months, a Fortune 500 company will be using Svelte in production; albeit for internal usage only.
Game development. I didn’t get all that I wanted done this year, but it was still a good year. I finally migrated Tinydark off Orbium; all games now live under tinydark.com and the Orbium is now known as the Hub. I upgraded the Hub until I was comfortable that it wasn’t an embarrassment. I’m also happy to say it looks like a friend I was mentoring will be able to step in and get some work done on the Hub.
GAM3 and URPG saw many upgrades. Details here. I really enjoyed making content for URPG.
Oh, and Tinydark is an officially registered company now. :}
Cursing. I’ve managed to keep my language clean around the kids. I’m still internally vulgar; I’ll be coding or gaming and I’ll curse. Will try to improve.
What didn’t go so well?
Lost contact with my mom. No details on this, but she’s made it clear it’s fairly permanent.
Focus, cognition, and fatigue. I could honestly write five paragraphs about this, but this was my worst year for cognition yet. I’m having a hard time retaining what I learn and I’m permanently on a “third wind” and desperately need a solid eight hours of sleep for pretty much a year straight. It just can’t happen with our present lifestyle.
I’m doing way too much stuff for someone in my state, but I just have to take the small wins where I can get them for now. Once Olivia’s sleep regulates, I can start moving toward eight hours of sleep.
I couldn’t release Black Crown: Exhumed. I did release a teaser website for it. There was too much left to be done, but the game is 99% imported.
Pokemon GO addiction. I still play, but I’m trying to limit myself. PvP is incredibly addicting for my gaming archetype and it’s just too easy to throw in a quick three-minute game here or there. I have to be careful because the rapid tapping required for PvP can end in hand pain.
My body. I kept up with strength training, but I’ve let my cardio and flexibility slide. I’m in pain as I write this because I picked up the baby the wrong way this morning. The pain I’m in is something of a distraction when working.
The biggest problem is my forward neck posture. I get a headache 4-5 days a week just from the condition my neck (and back) is in and this is a top priority for 2023.
What did I learn?
I would say I learned to finally accept that I don’t have enough time to do everything I want as quickly as I want to. This is tough for me to cope with, and I think there’s a risk that I’ll unlearn it in the coming years...
I spent a lot of time this year studying woke culture. I ramped it up again after my daughter was born; I think I felt similar to how some mothers “nest” before the baby’s born. I want everything to be safe and happy for my children, and it seemed that learning about this serious threat to democracy and quality of life was my way of coping.
Finally, I’m deciding to not give people more than I get in return. I’m a good friend, which means I’ll often reach out to people even if they haven’t messaged me in a while. I am no longer in the position to write lengthy emails and check up with people who don’t think about me nearly as much as I think of them.
Goals and Expectations: 2023
I’ve been developing games with the goal of living off them since 2007. I do not forget this important fact as I press on, building technology, trying to make a “browser game” that’s worthwhile, ethically designed, and that I could make good money with. When I accepted that I just don’t have time to guarantee a 2023 release for URPG, my mind quickly defaulted to Bean Grower. I need to start releasing, I need to start making money; I need to be a dragon.
Release Bean Grower on the app store. BG’s had a great response and it’s served its intended purpose: a supplemental game for the studio, one that doesn’t need a landing page and isn’t expected to be a game that someone plays every day. Yet experience shows that BG may have more potential than I thought, and I’d like to spend 100-150 hours finishing it off as Version 2 release. This will be a good opportunity to get a game onto the app store, which is a ToDo for Black Crown and URPG.
Release Black Crown: Exhumed in October. Making it for the Steam Halloween Sale is a stretch, but I’m confident I can get it done.
Start building a new house... or at least find the land. After two new kids, inflation, and stylin’ and profilin’, our bank account’s not full enough for it. But I’m holding an ace: the house we’re in now has appreciated greatly since we built it. Everyone wants to live here. If I can use the equity in the house against the loan, we’ll be able to lay the first bricks this year. We’re stable now, but soon enough, Olivia will be too old to live in the master bedroom with us, and there are sundry things we don’t like about the place we live in now.
Healthy body, healthy mind. If I had my way, I’d spend this year eating as much meat as possible, strength training and cardio 6 days a week, and grinding game dev. Alas, I’m becoming my own bottleneck. I need to stretch daily, jog, take it easy on the caffeine, and see what comes of it.
For the mind, well. My ADHD is becoming a serious problem. I’m constantly making mistakes outside of the realm of IQ, and it’s affecting everything from my Pokemon win rate to the kids’ diaper changes. Aside from better sleep once it’s logistically possible, I want to get back to “information sponge” Vael. I want to spend time each week on intellectual YouTube and take notes. Some people want to read ten books a year; I want to listen to one JBP podcast a week. That’s 52 two-hour conversations with very smart people.
I’m also going to attempt to go back to my Sherlock-inspired habit of looking at my surroundings more and paying more attention in general. This means the phone’s going to stay in the pocket.

See you next year. Vael

Hey El! 🥰
Can I ask 23, 31 and 48 for the weird asks?
Hi K, dear! 🥰
Thanks for the ask! And for my answers:
23. how do you feel about chilly weather?
Well, I just have two feelings. One, I want to hide myself with good book/tv show, drinking hot cocoa and being snugly wrapped in the most warm blanket I own. Or second, I want to be silly and enjoy being outside, probably catching snowflakes and just being happy.
31. what type of music keeps you grounded?
I would say any song from Skillet, you can find my two most favourite songs here and here.
48. when did you first try an alcohol beverage?
I don't know if I shoud say that out loud on the internet, but I was around 14 and my family is christian, so as I was babtised, I could go to the ceremony, where we are given piece of bread and a tiny cup of wine (don't know the English term for this thing) and my mom wanted to make me accustomed to the taste of wine before I would be given any.
Omg, this was really wierd but also really fun! The wierd asks can be found here.

Thanks for tagging me @runnning-outof-time ❤️
Tumblr media
Nickname: My classmates used to call me Milena (our chemistry teacher took wrong seating list which he had year before and there was one gir, caled Milena who had same last name as me), which I hated. On the other hand my friends call me El or Ela, hence my nickname here.
Sign: Saggitarius, I believe.
Height: 158 cm / 5’ 2.2’’
Last Thing I Googled: Height conversion (in original search in my language převod výšky) as I don’t know how to convert metric to imperial 😂😅.
Song Stuck in My Head: Someone you loved by Lewis Capaldi. I need it in my head for the story I am writing😅.
Number of Followers: 39 😅.
Amount of Sleep: A lot... Like 8 hours a night, because I need this much to just function...
Dream Job: Teacher, teaching history and english (maybe one day after I finish uni...).
Movie/Book that Summarizes You: I would say Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson as the main character has really great relationship with magic books.
Favorite Song: Refuge or Anchor both by Skillet.
Favorite Instrument: My favourite instrument... Well, I would say piano, guitar, recorder/fipple flute and ukulele. I can play on most of them though least on piano.
Aesthetic: I don’t know... Maybe something spring like or autumn like...
Favorite Author: I can’t choose one. But if I must, I would say J.R.R. Tolkien or his friend C.S. Lewis.
Random Fun Fact: I don’t know 😅. Maybe I must always leave home with headphones and at least one or two books, even if I won’t have time to read them.

My #1 post of 2022
Tumblr media
"M sorry, dove, I can't go riding with ya today," Bonnie said apologetically as he helped groom the horses. "You know Mr. Shelby wants me in the ring as much as possible before the fight," he explained, knowing you were growing impatient with him. You stomped your heel in the dirt so hard, dust flew around you in a cloud and you stormed off dramatically. As you left you shouted over your shoulder, "Fine! If you like it there so much, you can sleep in the boxing ring tonight!" Bonnie dropped his head in his hand. Why did he have to marry a woman so much like his ma? Luckily, he knew how to fix it.
Tumblr media
The rejection hurt you, so you went riding alone. You knew he would try and fix it after you came back home, but you still wanted to be alone right now.
„I know, Swen. I need to cool down and take some time to think.“
Swen, your favourite horse, shook his head in understanding, so you climbed into the saddle and rode off.
I will solve this later, was your last thought as you left the gate of your property.
(Thank you for this, I tried to write something, but this is all I could come up with.)

Essential Job Skills A CHHA Applicant Needs
Tumblr media
 Home Health Aides Job Description
Home health aides provide care and treatment to patients in their homes while also keeping track of their general health and well-being. To be effective in the position, these professionals rely on their home health aide skills, which include a good mix of medical and technical expertise and soft skills. Hard skills unique to the field, such as medical experience, treatment methodologies, and patient care procedures, are combined with soft skills to enable home health aides to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues to provide excellent care.
 Employment Prospects And Academic Requirements
If you want to work as a home health aide, the career outlook is promising, with a 34 percent increase anticipated between 2019 and 2029. The median annual salary in 2019 was $25,280, or $12.15 per hour.
While not all companies need it, most home health aides need to have a high school diploma or a comparable. Community colleges and technical schools offer training and credential programs as well.
Skills Required For Working As A Home Health Aide
Working as a home health aide necessitates a wide range of skills, including medical awareness, patience, and sensitivity, among others. Take a glance at some of the essential skills that most home health aides should possess.
 Communication
In the field of home health aides, communication is crucial. These practitioners interact with their patients, their families, and others regularly. Several facets of your communication skills will be needed on the job, including discussing therapies, informing patients and families, listening actively, and communicating in writing. Furthermore, reading the patients' body language is just as critical as asking questions to determine their safety and well-being.
 Interpersonal Skills
As a home health aide, you'll need sensitivity, compassion, and endurance, among other qualities. Patient care can be challenging, particularly when caring for patients in their homes, so using empathy and sensitivity to consider your patients' experiences and needs can help you succeed. In addition to these qualities, you'll need a deep compassionate disposition to communicate and develop rapport with your patients, as well as the willingness to guide them in solving problems and overcoming obstacles.
 Sincerity
Honesty and sincerity are essential when you're a part of somebody's life in the way that home health aides are. You'll be in people's houses in a very personal way. You may be required to wash or change the adult diapers of patients. You may also be needed to assist with various life specifics, giving you access to aspects of their lives that only their closest friends are aware of. Honesty is essential for efficient and direct communication with the patients' families and health professionals.
  Organizing abilities
To do their jobs well, home health aides must be highly prepared. To be effective and competent in your profession, you'll need a good collection of managerial skills and an eye for detail, from maintaining medical records and patient history to coordinating and administering medications and other treatments.
 Medical expertise
Home health aides' medical experience is typically derived from their schooling and training. You'll have the ability to expand your understanding of clinical applications and patient care approaches as you begin this career in the medical field, which will help you succeed. Checking vital signs, measuring temperature, adjusting wound dressings, attending doctor's appointments with patients, and expanding your awareness of pharmaceutical and medical jargon are all essential medical principles in this position.
 Organizing your time
It's very likely that as a home health aide, you'll be in charge of maintaining appointment schedules and keeping this information organized. Furthermore, effective time management is required to keep track of each appointment and your timetable. Many home health aides work with various patients and depend on good time management to complete their tasks promptly while remaining friendly, versatile, and sympathetic to their patients.
 Physical endurance
Physical strength and endurance are needed when caring for patients in their homes. Not only do home health aides provide personalized care to their patients, but they can also assist them with household chores. Helping patients dress, sit, stand, and move about during the day necessitates the ability to raise, move, and stand. Besides, several home health aides assist patients with daily tasks and food preparation, and you'll need to be able to execute these tasks with the necessary strength and endurance.
 Final Thoughts
Caregivers make a significant difference in the lives of their patients and their families, but not everyone is suited for the role. To be effective and provide the absolute best client care, caregivers must possess a wide range of attributes and skills. Not everyone can or should work as a caregiver, but you might be a good match for the job! Working as a home health aide allows you to see the world from different perspectives. You become a coach, a healer, and a source of strength, all at the same time.

7 Biggest Mistakes UPSC Aspirants Make – And How to Avoid Them
As I recently conducted the UPSC Coaching Classes in Chandigarh, I realized that there are some big mistakes that aspirants keep repeating over and over again which eventually lead to their downfall in the exam. In order to help you avoid these common mistakes while preparing for the UPSC Exam, I’ve come up with this list of seven common mistakes that aspirants make while preparing for the Indian Civil Service exam and how you can easily avoid them.
Tumblr media
Mistake 1: No plan
Planning is the most important aspect of preparing for the exam. It should be a part of your routine and not left to chance. There are multiple ways to plan, and you can choose what works best for you. However, it is important that you do some form of planning on a daily basis in order to give yourself the best chance at success.
Mistake 2: Bad time management
One of the biggest mistakes that UPSC aspirants make is not managing their time well. When you’re busy, it can be easy to lose track of time. This often leads to procrastination and a lack of discipline in sticking with your study plan. It also means that you may not be able to give your full attention or focus on any one task at hand, which will lead to lower quality work.
Mistake 3: Poor self-discipline
It is a common misconception that self-discipline is some innate trait. It's not. Self-discipline can be developed over time and with practice, but it must be nurtured and maintained, like any other skill. The first step in developing self-discipline is recognizing what habits are preventing you from succeeding and then making a conscious effort to break them.
Mistake 4: Lack of perseverance
One of the most common mistakes that aspirants make is not being persistent. It takes a lot of time and effort to prepare for the exam. You need to be in this for the long haul. Keep at it, even if you don't feel like it or if you feel like giving up.
Mistake 5: Boring study material
One of the biggest mistakes that students make is settling for boring study material. There are so many books, websites, and blogs out there with engaging content that can keep you interested in your studies. It might be a good idea to invest in some kind of IAS coaching in Chandigarh if you're struggling with boredom.
Also Read: IAS Coaching in Chandigarh Sector 34
Mistake 6: Insufficient revision
Too many students believe that they can cram up on the day before the exam and then ace it. This is a huge mistake. You need to revise systematically, no matter how tired you are or how few hours of sleep you got.
Mistake 7: Ignoring the importance of English language proficiency skills in general.
It's true that a majority of UPSF aspirants are from India, which has its own set of challenges in terms of proficiency in English. But irrespective of where you come from and what language you speak at home, your ability to read and write proficiently in English will be indispensable if you want a seat with the IAS coaching in Chandigarh.
