Tumblr media

close up of cove and my mc jamie !!
Tumblr media
[ID: An illustration of a happy couple dancing in traditional filipino clothing. On the right is Cove Holden, a young man with tan skin, glasses, and his signature wavy eyebrows. His eyes are closed, and he wears an embarrassed smile. His hair is a wavy, muted teal mess that has been tied in a half-up-half-down style, curls spill over his shoulders. He is wearing a barong, a white and sheer garment with embroidery in the center of the shirt. Underneath, he wears a black tank top and black pants. On his left, is Jamie Fuentebella, a genderfluid person with a dark tan and glasses, as well. They look overjoyed, eyes closed and mouth wide with a laugh. Jamie's bangs fall over their eyebrows, and the longer pink strands of their hair are pulled behind their head unto a ponytail, revealing their undercut. They wear a pale Maria Clara Filipiniana, a traditional Filipino style dress with flared, flowing sleeves and something akin to a shawl around their shoulders, with a dark green skirt. End ID]

Hymn to the Sacred Heart
Tumblr media
O Sacred Heart, O love divine Do keep us near to Thee And make our love so like to Thine That we may holy be. Heart of Jesus hear! O heart of love Divine Listen to our prayer Make us always Thine. O temple pure, O house of gold Our heaven here below. What sweet delight, what wealth untold From Thee do ever flow Heart of Jesus hear O heart of love Divine Listen to our prayer Make us always Thine Ungrateful hearts, forgetful hearts The hearts of all have been To wound Thy side with cruel darts Which they have made by sin Heart of Jesus hear O heart of love Divine Listen to our prayer Make us always Thine

Omg Dom would be the best babysitter to Ryan it would be so cute
NO BECAUSE HEAR ME OUT
Dom would be a TERRIBLE influence but definitely the opposition to John’s influence, like teaching him to do Kid Things and socialize with other kids without having to become some power-hungry monster
He’d show him shit like Minecraft and Roblox and that’s where Ryan throttles his little gamer boy rage at
Dom teaches him swear words in two languages: Spanish and Tagalog. Since Ryan’s a little kid he can pick up on the languages easily so he gets the accent right the first few times he says it and Dom laughs out of surprise
Just. You see Ryan sitting on Dom’s knee while they both watch Minecraft Let’s Plays together. Or Dom teaching him guitar. (crying sobbing SCREAMING)
He also takes him out to the park so he could be friends with other kids (with a LOT of guidance tho)
Dom lends Ryan his weighted blanket cause it’d be pretty easy to overwhelm the kid with sensory overload when outside, so when Ryan gets a headache from the ventures Dom just puts the heavy-ass blanket on him and it somehow manages to soothe the kid.
Dominic “I know how kids work, I’m somewhat of a kid myself” Fuentebella (Is autistic) (has not emotionally matured past the age of 15(mostly due to trauma))
Just. He’d love the kid so much. It’s too bad Ben’s too much of an ass to try and love him and John’s too much of a Danger to love him properly. Dom’ll make them all meet in the middle, for sure.
Ben: Wish I could’ve raised the ki—
Dom: And turn them into you? Pff, no fucking way.

I learned from a post of my colleague, Prof. Gerry T Los Baños, that Prof. Carlos Ojeda Aureus (1947-2024) had passed. Caloy was a retired professor in literature and previous holder of the Diamond Jubilee Professorial Chair at the UP Department of English and Comparative Literature. Armed with experiences as a scholar at El Instituto de Cooperación Iberoamericana (ICI) en Madrid, he taught Latin and Spanish at UP's Department of European Languages. “Nagueños” is his highly acclaimed collection of short fiction on the people and places across Naga. “The Late Comer,” his story, won first prize in the 1996 Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature. His other stories, “Chinita,” Flake of Fire, Bodies of Light,” “Wings,” “Typhoon,” and especially “The night train does not stop here anymore,” also deserve some more critical attention. Also in dire need of revisiting is Caloy’s The Catholic Imagination, published in the inaugural issue of Humanities Diliman (Vol. 1, no. 1, Jan. 2000 - Jun. 2000: 92-108).
His Ph.D. dissertation in UP entitled “Towards a Dialogical Reading of W. B. Yeats' Vision” (1992) is a pioneering contribution to Anglo-American literary studies from a unique postcolonial subject-position. Together with Retired Professor Lilia Fuentebella Realubit, Professors Paz Verdades Santos, and Tito Valiente, and supported by Naga City Mayor (1988-1998, 2001-2010) Jessie Robredo, Naga City Administrator (now Representative) Gabriel Bordado and Ateneo de Naga President (1988-1999) Fr. Raul Bonoan S.J., Caloy co-organized the first-ever Bikol Writers Workshop in Naga (1993). The workshop proved to be a catalyst for the resurgence of Bikol writing many years later. Caloy was proud of his experiences as a 1970 Silliman National Writers' Workshop fellow with National Artist Ricky Lee, Albert Casuga, Conrad de Quiros, and Wilfredo Pascua Sanchez. He frequently reminisced about Dumaguete and his writing friends in Silliman, including Francis Macansantos, Christine Godinez Ortega, Anthony Tan, and Rowena Tiempo Torrevillas. I will never forget bumping into Caloy over lunch at Casaa, where we purchased takeaway food during the late 1980s and early 1990s, or having coffee and meals with Dr Realubit in UP Diliman's Chateau Verde and his mom, Tita Teresing Ojeda Aureus, around Naga's Plaza Quince Martires and Plaza Rizal during the 1990s. On 19 August 2023, writer and translator Victor Dennis T. Nierva organized a walking tour of Naga based on iconic landmarks identified by Caloy in his Nagueños. Before he passed away, he was working on the biography of Dr. Realubit. Despite his brilliance, Caloy remained kind and very humble. I am sure his students will miss him.

Tumblr media
Who burned this establishment? Why they do that to the innocent and historical building of the many decades that they establish this building. Someone, throw a one granade in the tunnel of this building and killed the employee guard man. But before they do that one delivery man of that public company hit by gun before they tell the death threat of this company. How's our simple letter that came from other country and deliver it in our houses. How's Postal ID? I think this company trell the National ID of each person to locate one man or woman in the Philippine together with swiping identification card. Hope this happen learned to our Historical and Librarian employee of whole nation.

Bercilles v. GSIS
Facts
Judge Pascual G. Berciles died on cardiac arrest on August 21, 1979, age 66.  He had GSIS pension for serving in the government for 36 yrs, of which 26 yrs were in judiciary.  He was also entitled to other benefits from his employer as well as return of the premium paid to GSIS.  Such benefits are now being claimed by 2 families.
Iluminada Ponce of Ilocos Sur and her four children: Ilona, Ellery, England and Ione filed an application for survivors benefit as the legal spouse and legitimate children of the late judge. The other set of claimants are Flor Fuentebella and her 4 children: Pascual, Maria, Mercy and Rhoda filing their families claim through a letter dated November 10, 1979 together with supporting documents.
Flor did not submit any evidence of their filiation to the late judge in spite of the telegram sent to them on February 5, 1981.  The letter submitted by Rhoda Berciles on behalf of her mother Flor on Oct 19, 1979 had no leg to stand on. There was not marriage contract or certification from the Local Civil Registrar certifying that the deceased was actually married to the late judge.  The documents are mere scrap of papers unworthy of credence since they did not prove any family filiation.
Issue
Whether or not Flor and her children are entitled to the GSIS retirement benefit of the late Judge Pascual Berciles?
Ruling No, the Supreme Court ruled that Flor and her children are not entitled to the GSIS retirement benefit of the late judge attempts; (5) unpaid money obligations; (6) inability to keep a job that is not connected with the family businesses; and (7) criminal charges of estafa. Iluminada and her children are the lawful heirs entitled to the distribution of benefits and will be distributed in accordance with the law on intestate and succession.

CASE DIGEST: Barreto Gonzales vs. Augusto C. Gonzales, et.al.
Barreto Gonzales vs. Augusto C. Gonzales, et.al.
G.R. No. L-37048 | March 17, 1933
Justice Hull
Family Code:
Art. 26. (17a)
CASE DIGEST
Facts:
Plaintiff and defendant are citizens of the Philippine Islands and at present residents of the City of Manila. They were married in the City of Manila on January 19, 1919, and lived together as man and wife in the Philippine Islands until the spring of 1926. They voluntarily separated and since that time have not lived together as man and wife. Of this union four children were born who are now 11, 10, 8 and 6 years of age. Negotiations between the parties, both being represented by attorneys, continued for several months, whereupon it was mutually agreed to allow the plaintiff for her support and that of her children, five hundred pesos (P500) monthly; this amount to be increased in case of illness or necessity, and the title of certain properties to be put in her name. Shortly after this agreement the husband left the Islands, betook himself to Reno, Nevada, and secured in that jurisdiction an absolute divorce on the ground of desertion, which decree was dated November 28, 1927. Shortly thereafter the defendant moved to California and returned to these Islands in August 1928, where he has since remained. On the same date that he secured a divorce in Nevada he went through the forms of marriage with another citizen of these Islands and now has three children as a result of that marriage. Defendant, after his departure from these Islands, reduced the amount he had agreed to pay monthly for the support of his wife and four minor children and has not made the payments fixed in the Reno divorce as alimony.
Shortly after his return his wife brought action in the Court of First Instance of Manila requesting that the courts of the Philippine Islands confirm and ratify the decree of divorce issued by the courts of the State of Nevada.
It is also prayed that the community existing between plaintiff and defendant be declared dissolved and the defendant be ordered to render an accounting and to deliver to the plaintiff her share of the community property, that the defendant be ordered to pay the plaintiff alimony at the rate of five hundred pesos (P500) per month, that the defendant be ordered to pay the plaintiff, as counsel fees, the sum of five thousand pesos (P5000), and that the defendant be ordered to pay plaintiff the expenses incurred in educating the three minor sons.
A guardian ad litem was appointed for the minor children, and they appear as intervenors and join their mother in these proceedings.
Issue/s:
Whether any foreign divorce relating to citizens of the Philippine Islands, will be recognized in this jurisdiction, except it be for a cause, and under conditions for which the courts of Philippine Islands would grant a divorce.
Ruling:
No. Litigants by mutual agreement cannot compel the courts to approve of their own actions or permit the personal relations of the citizens of these Islands to be affected by decrees of foreign courts in a manner which our government believes is contrary to public order and good morals.
Doctrine:Goitia vs. Campos Rueda (35 Phil., 252); Garcia Valdez vs. Soteraña Tuason (40 Phil., 943-952); Ramirez vs. Gmur (42 Phil., 855); Chereau vs. Fuentebella (43 Phil., 216); Fernandez vs. De Castro (48 Phil., 123); Gorayeb vs. Hashim (50 Phil., 22); Francisco vs. Tayao (50 Phil., 42); Alkuino Lim Pang vs. Uy Pian Ng Shun and Lim Tingco (52 Phil., 571); and the late case of Cousins Hix vs. Fluemer, decided March 21, 1931, and reported in 55 Phil., 851.
