"Breaking through the Darkness" For Inktober 2018

"ENOUGH!" The priestess roared again, this time her voice seemed to fill the entire area-- accompanied by another faint sound, like the rumble of distant thunder, that gave it an extra otherworldly punch.

Enerjak could recall only one time the core of his being had been struck so that he froze in place, overwhelmed with awe and perhaps even a sliver of fear. There was also a familiarity that he detected from the power and presence that stood between him and the battered Knuckles.

"You are no ordinary Aurorian Priestess... are you?" He asked, in a calm and reverent tone.

"No... I am not." She answered, starting toward him slowly.

As a warm, radiant light filled her eyes, streaks of light burst through the dark clouds above. In revealing a magnificent cosmic display above, she had revealed herself as being a willing host of the most powerful and revered of ancient spirits. In the instant of realization, all collapsed to a humble level.

"Just as you are both Dimitri and Enerjak, I am both Muri-Na and--"

"Aurora."

The intense light of the chaos energy that had surrounded and illuminated the area dimmed to a low glow. For the first time in hundreds of years he was face to face with the only entity that could defeat him effortlessly. There was no use resisting.

So, all he did was take in a deep breath and lower his head, preparing himself for another humiliating defeat.

But Muri-Na did not attack. Instead, she simply took hold of the staff in Enerjak's hand and lowered it down.

"For too long this family has been divided. You've all spilt your own blood for a cause that is not worth one ounce of it and gained absolutely nothing but an eternal loop of death, destruction and thirst for vengeance! Enough! It ends tonight."

"I suppose you are here to scatter me about again, just like before."

"No... not this time. I have come to heal and save everyone... including you."

"I am beyond saving."

"For as long as one is still alive, they are never beyond saving. Despite everything, I can never forget who you were before the madness took you. I can never forget the memories we shared. It is still possible to restore you to what you once were. Then we can restore the entire family. Because together, you can be so much more! You can be a force that will not only keep the Master Emerald safe, but put an end to the forces of Dr. Robotnik, as well as other external forces that threaten to destroy us! A dark and fearsome wave, unlike anything that has swept over Mobius before, is on the rise. We will not stand a chance against it while we're still divided! You will stop this feud... you will unite and be one again."

Day 22: Hedgehog

This was when I had burnt out and called it a month with the Inktober 2018 challenge. It’s a drawing I still love and want to color but I can’t for the life of me remember if I used waterproof ink or not! At least I have a scan now just in case my attempt ruins it. Added bonus of both Puzzle hedgies from another sketchbook session from that same year!
