The age-related question about Splinter kinda made me sad to think the boys could potentially live upto 150-200 while Splinter would most likely pass away at their late 20's/early 30's ☹️. Though, it would be bittersweet if before that any of the boys got a girlfriend and by then Splinter would be so loose about it even if their GF was a psychopath or she had a loose screw in her head because Splinter wants to at least see his 1st grandkid before passing away of old age regardless of what his other sons say about it

There isn't a question here, so I'm not sure how to respond. But since we're on the subject of Splinter, I'd like to share my fan theory that the further Splinter is removed from Hamato Yoshi, the worse ninjas his turtles are. (And also the less sense their rivalry with Shredder makes.) So the best ninjas in the TMNT universes are the ones where Hamato Yoshi--a ninja master--is Splinter. This gives the turtles a direct pipeline to a master teacher and would thus have the most to teach them. This includes the 80's cartoon turtles, 2012, IDW and Rise. Having access to a master increases the turtle's chances of becoming a master themselves at a younger age. (Rise might be the exception, as we saw that he didn't really get serious about teaching his kids until they were teenagers, so they would most likely take a little longer to master their craft. But then again, Rise has the most terrifying villains and thus forced the boys to adapt or die.) 2003 turtles are a special case. Splinter was not Hamato Yoshi, but we find in the series that Splinter still had access to Yoshi's spirit and his knowledge to pass on to his students. But even then, when Leonardo surpassed Splinter's teachings, he had to then send Leo out to find a new master- The Ancient One- to continue his training.

Next would be the 90's turtles where Splinter was also Yoshi's pet rat, but seemed to pick up a LOT in both the fighting style and the philosophy of ninjitsu.

Lower on the totem pole would be the Bayverse turtles, where Splinter taught them from a book he found. And I would argue that they're not necessarily good ninjas. They are passable ninjas. They're just so fucking huge it's very difficult for anyone to beat them. And despite their strength, they still barely won against shredder because they had the muscle, but not the skills. (And Splinter's face off with Shredder in the lair made no sense because they had never met each other before.)

Coming in last would be Mutant Mayhem turtles, who learned martial arts from watching movies. I think the introduction of the Shredder could give these kids a wake up call to how little they know about ninjitsu--if the writers had any sense of self awareness of the origin they gave this series. It will be interesting to see exactly how Shredder relates to everything that happens in this universe.

For those of you calling 2012 Mikey innocent and constantly babying him and saying he must be protected, you are literally doing the exact thing that he hates.

2012 Mikey has stated in the show that he hates being treated like a child and doesn’t like it when people look/treat him as such. Yes, his brothers are still gonna be protective of him but that’s brotherly instincts. He is the youngest after all.

But we have to remember that in the end…

Mikey is NOT innocent. He has committed manslaughter. He literally ate PizzaFace alive, who is a mutant that used to be a living human being.

Mikey does NOT need to be protected. He can handle himself. He managed to figure out and survive in Dimension X all on his own for what seemed like weeks/months. He also took on villains like Tiger Claw, Rahzar and Newtralizer by himself!

Mikey is NOT a baby. Mikey is a skilled ninja. Splinter has stated that Mikey has the highest intuition compared to his brothers. He was also willing to sacrifice and die for his friends and family in an attempt to to stop Newtrailzer, staying behind as Dregg’s ship exploded.

Something I really like about Leo’s joking ways is that while his verbal humor (mainly his puns) doesn’t tend to get much positive reception, his physical humor (such as the slapstick for Sprite or that moment during their fashion montage where he makes all of his brothers laugh) tends to go over much better. Idk it’s such a small thing that’s barely there but it gives me a big “actions speak louder than words” vibe that Leo really encapsulates.

Just some additional lil fun facts/ramblings about Nova that I figured might be an interesting read ^^

+ Nova's name refers to both supernovas (which I think are super cool and am totally projecting my interest onto him) & 80's bossa nova music (very vibey and also gave inspiration for their color palette)

+ Crippling energy drink addiction /lh

+ Likes bugs, particularly moths (death's-head and poodle moths are very cool) & salamanders (their coloration).

+ Places stickers/decals all over themselves and their stuff. The shiny heart and wavey-line details on their shell?? Vinyl decals they made. They only have a few spots on their shell naturally (as natural as a mutant bog turtle is lmao) and thought it was too boring, so they "fixed" it.

+ Draws but only digitally; hates the mess/stickiness of traditional art (chalk pastels are the DEVIL; he's just like me,,,, he's just like me FR 😭🖐️)

+ HUGE seafood fan: will go rabid over a plate of shrimp alfredo; also really enjoys noodles in any form.

+ Hates hot tea but really enjoys a good iced tea.

+ Special interest in astronomy

+ OBNOXIOUS music taste (based off of mine lmao): mainly hyperpop-esque EDM or emo music, but as the design implies, also enjoys some bossa nova music when the mood hits.

+ If he's not wearing his mask, they're very partial to beanies (likes to have something on their face/head at all times)

+ This mf autistic as hell /pos (he's just like me fr x2)

+ Generally seems very laid-back and calm. He's just kinda there for the vibes. BUT they are a massive enabler for chaos--they may not be coming up with the plan, but they Will assist the cause to see what happens. He Can and Will lie with a straight face to help said chaos goblin out. He likes the drama 🤷

And THIS, is a bog turtle! I obviously changed coloration to have more fun with it (and didn't go with yellow markings cuz it resembled Mikey too much), but I kept them in mind:

They're actually pretty similar in size and general build to little box turtles, so I went with Mikey's general body shape when designing Nova. :)

gratitude list time I'll go first

#stopped caring about some things I was caring far too much about #it's another rainy dreary day which means I can wear cozy clothes and curl up with my brother's dog and coffee and a book #little guy and I are just chillin. he's tiny and shorthaired so he gets cold easily and likes to cuddle up #and seeing as I'm the only person home rn... doggo cuddle time it is!!! #I've been reading more lately!! I'm having trouble with tbosas so I got out a couple other things (sea of tranquility included) #that I've really enjoyed. I'm reading turtles all the way down right now and oh boy I forgot how nice a little contemporary #coming of age novel can be at times. also forgot that john green is a genuinely good writer. as in I personally enjoy his style. #let's see... my favorite sound guy for church is home from college for the summer which means THERES SOMEONE HERE #WHO ACTUALLY KNOWS HOW THE SOUND SYSTEM WORKS. me and the other sound guys have been barely #managing the last couple months bc there's been a ton of random technical glitches (the system is pretty old tbh) #so HALLELUJAH THE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY KNOWS WHAT TO DO IS BACK!!!! #I've been branching out into a bunch of things I wouldn't have thought to enjoy lately bc of the time I've been spending #with my sister in law. music and tv shows and even foods and stuff!!! #Gurt is coming to visit me in a week and a day!!!!!! Leo mask tail theory

Okay so I was rewatching rottmnt for the 500th (fifth hundreth) time and I noticed something really neat about Leo and Raph.

You can't really see it here but Leo has long mask tails just like Raph does. You might not think much of it but I think there's a reason for it and you might call me over analytical but I think it's pretty neat.

What if this was foreshadowing for when Leo became leader? Think about it! The way I see it, longer mask tails mean you're the leader hence why Raph has long mask tails aswell. And it's not coincidence that the only 2 (two) turtles that have these kind of mask tails are both destend to be leader.

Both Mikey and Donnie have shorter mask tails compared to Leo and Raph wich, if my theory is correct, indicates they're not leaders. Leo has always shown to have a lot of leader potential

Take mystic library for example, or when he was sent to Big Mama's fighting ring Battle Nexus.

Raph also has a lot of leader potential and was leader before Leo. Meanwhile Donnie and Mikey are not as leadery as their two older brothers.

Basically what I'm trying to say that if long mask tails mean that you're leader. Than leo's character arc of becoming a leader was foreshadowed since the start of the series

2012 Splinter was more of a Sensai than a father.

Rise Splinter was more of a father than a Sensai.

Both Splinters absolutely love their sons, but their choices in how they decided to raise their sons backfired in some ways when it comes to the Turtles’ lives and what they would eventually face in their respected series.
