Dade Middle placed on Lockdown Thursday following pursuit of Alabama man
Dade County Middle School in Trenton, Georgia was forced to go on lockdown Thursday morning after an armed suspect running from authorities was captured just yards from the school. Dade County Sheriff Ray Cross says the suspect made their way into the area on Highway 136 from Sand Mountain around 9:15 AM, after pulling a gun on a woman in Alabama and fleeing when police there arrived. The…

"Batgirl" Has Multiversal Connections, Directors Tease
“Batgirl” Has Multiversal Connections, Directors Tease
Batgirl has more than the GOAT himself back in the cowl. Directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah revealed during a recent interview that Barbara Gordon’s first solo film, starring Leslie Grace, may – or may not – tie in to the DC Multiverse.  Specifically, the tease came from El Arbi as he reflected on the mishmash of Bat-generations with their casting choices: Well you know, we’d sort of give…

Ideas for Black!Reader Fic
I am going to try my hand again at writing. And I wanted to share some people and fandoms that I love. If you don’t know these shows/actors/franchises/movies/streamers I’m putting you on! For the following:
Princess Bride
Alice In Borderland
Johnny Depp- All his characters
Cameron Monaghan- I know that there are fics out there but it’s only always his Jerome/Jeremiah roles never just him or Cal Kestis
Anthony Carrigan- I loved Anothy as Victor Zsasz
Paul Dano- There are Riddler fics but not as many for his other roles
Damsel
The Entire Cast of Hawaii Five-0 (2010) - Don’t even get me started on how good this show is! And the cast looks amazing!
Chicago Med/Fire/PD- These shows have so much potential for fanfic storylines!
The Game (2006)- Has great potential for slow burns and fluffs.
Star Wars franchise (1977-present) - I know I said Cal Kestis but there are also other characters like Anakin, Luke, Obi Wan,Boba Fett (etc.)
NCIS franchise- I honestly love this franchise and it’s characters!
Hamilton
Any/All Sports Men- Jude Bellingham,Lewis Hamilton,LaMelo Ball,Allen Iverson(etc.)
Berleezy - He’s handsome and he’s funny!
Coryxkenshin- I literally love him and his videos!
Albert Aretz (Flamingo)- Look … he may be the epitome of mediocre white man but I like what I like!
AMP- Duke Dennis, Kai Cenat, Agent 00, ChrisNxtDoor,Davis, and Fanum ( all I gotta say is love a black man from infinity to infinity🗣️)
Beta Squad- A British YouTube/ streamer group!
SOMEBROS- Berleezy, Rico, ,PG, Joe (etc.)
WWE- come on now, do I even need to explain!!!
Four Brothers- All the cast but Garrett Hedland in particular!
Peacemaker - Don’t get me wrong I love Adrian Chase but I want to see just as much Peacemaker x black!reader fics because 2 words… JOHN CENA
MAWS- New animated Superman show! Love!
Smallville - The entire cast is hot! Tbh I fell hard for Tom Welling when I was younger when he was in Cheaper By The Dozen. Plus they literally whitewashed Vixen. COME ON! Vixen is a black female hero btw. She was also with Jon (Green Lantern) at one point.
Justice League/Justice League Unlimited (2001 and 2004)- I mean I literally can’t find any Jon Stewart x black!reader fics and he was with a BLACK WOMAN!
Warner Bros Franchise (minus the looney tunes & space jam)- There are lots of popular franchises that this company has from Fast & Furious to The Matrix!
Peaky Blinders- Saw a Tommy shelby x arms dealer black!female reader fic on my previous account but even then I couldn’t find it again on that account. So it’s gone with the wind. And the cast (i.e the actors and other characters they’ve portrayed). Example: Cillian Murphy as Johnathan Crane.
Tumblr media
The Bear
FBI (All)
The good doctor
Tiktokers: Vinnie hacker
Blue Bloods
Will Poulter- I haven’t really seen any Adam Warlock fics
Slashers
Stranger Things
Cruel Intentions
Burnt
Dave Lizewski
Eddie Redmayne
Macgyver (2016)
Fresh Prince of Belair
Guardians of the galaxy- Explanation? Do I really need one?
On My Block
Descendants (characters will be the actors age in real life.duh)- Love Boo-boo Stewart & Mitchell Hope!
Matt Rife
Joey Bragg (Liv &Maddie) - What can I say I love dorks!
The Boys- Haven’t seen that many fics about the characters and a black reader
Once Upon A Time- I love dark fairytales sometimes because they remind me that not every story has a happy ending and you have to learn from them. But this series is good for any theme really.
Walker Texas Ranger (1993)
Top Gun
Nicolas Galitzine
Magcon: Whether you saw their vines on YouTube or vine, you know who they are
Dolan Twins
Mission Impossible
Euphoria- Entire show has great storylines with the potential of drama in fics
Shameless- Especially Carl Gallagher and Lip Gallagher
Creed- Michael B Jordan need I say more
Keanu Reeves- There are very few fics about Keanu but I’ve seen a few of his John Wick x black!reader fics (chef’s kiss) but never see any of The Matrix Fics! Also Ted (Bill & Ted)
River Phoenix
Batman Beyond
Rider Strong
Danny Gonzalez
Timothée Chalamet
New York Undercover
Past-Present Singers & Rappers/ Groups -Bow Wow, Tupac, Lil Baby, Nelly, Omarion, Prince, Michael Jackson, Jon B,Usher, Central Cee, Måneskin, New Edition, BTS, James, PRETTYMUCH Bay, Daniel Caesar, October London, Steve Lacey, Artemas, YUNGBLUD, Andy Biersack(etc.)
Anime(Any kind!)- Would love to see other shows, I know hunterxhunter, aot, one piece (etc.)
Bridgerton- There is very little Bridgerton stories catered around a black reader.
Marvel- Now that’s not to say that there aren’t any in fact there are many but I never see (Tobey Maguire Spider-Man stories and it seems like everyone tends to focus on the famous Marvel characters like The Avengers but not on other aspects like X-men or better yet, heroes that haven’t even gotten their own movie but are just as amazing like Squadron Supreme , it’s equivalent to DCU’s Justice League.
Secret Invasion- Not gonna lie , I’m feening for Gravik.😳
DCEU- Another franchise that pushes its other characters to the side. For example, Hush (Thomas Elliot) is literally the epitome of Bruce Wayne gone bad!
Ross Lynch- There are so many roles that Ross did so well in Like Teen Beach Movie or Sabrina.
Highschool Musical Franchise (2006- present ) I’m not just talking about HSMTS (2019), I mean even further back than that. I don’t see any Troy Bolton x black!reader and that’s crazy. I also can’t find any Zac Efron x black!reader
Interview with a Vampire (1994) and (2022)
Austin Butler- He did well in his role as Elvis!
Vikings - There are a good amount but still!
Transformers
Suits
Saved By The Bell
The Goldbergs
Parks & Recreation
Leverage
The Outsiders
Heart of Stone
New York Undercover (1994)

alright, now that i've finally done the homework of the 4 90s-Batman movies, let's actually pick back up with the DCEU watch and get seated for Andy Muschietti's The Flash.
what i know about this is that it brings back Michael Keaton, that Christina Hodson wrote it (which is the only reason i'm even mildly excited to see this movie, because she also wrote the best DC movie which has a practically perfect screenplay), that there was some bullshit face transplant of dead people — i think one of them was Christopher Reeves, i am not watching those Superman movies for this (haven't seen any of them, might watch them after i'm done with the DCEU), i don't even have access to them, i'm not doing that shit for a cameo anyway, and fuck DC for that, obviously, but i'm going to try to give the movie the best shot i can.
i've heard mixed things about this one as well, i know a few people who really liked it, and a lot of people who really fucking hated it, it's been called every fucking insult i can think of, so i'm not optimistic but Christina Hodson wrote it so it can't be terribly written at least. it may look like shit (from the two clips i've seen: microwave baby, and the shot of Flash and Supergirl zooming into frame, oh that's another thing i know, new Supergirl is in this) but at least hopefully it's well written. and he cannot have fucked up Christina's script that bad.
i'm just hoping that if this is bad, it's at least fun. and that it's not soul-crushing like The Rise of Shitwalker. i know the people at Disney are fucked up, i also know the people at WB are even more depraved somehow, if their track record in these last 4 years haven't shown you that already, but i hope this is as free from their shitty tendencies as possible. i can't do another TROS.
also, have to do the disclaimer: fuck Ezra Miller, i hope their victims get the justice they deserve. don't fucking misgender Ezra, they won't fucking care because they are a celebrity, other non-binary people like myself will. if you say you're an ally and your allyship is conditional, you are just a fucking bigot too <3
for the purposes of this watch we're gonna try to pretend Ezra aren't who they are, bc otherwise i'm gonna be here all night and it's already almost 1 am and this movie is 2 and a half hours long.
ANYWAY, let's get into the fucking movie already.

Ohhhhh I’ve never even heard of Batman forever!! But he does look fiiiiiineee I know what my new hyperfixation is going to be, I’m so serious. It’s so hard to keep track of all the different variations of Batman 😭😭
A handy-dandy guide to all the (live-action, cinematic) Batmen
Tim Burton’s Batman
Batman (1989) - played by Micheal Keaton
Batman Returns (1992) - played by Michael Keaton
The originals; beloved and nostalgic for a lot of people. Took Batman from kinda goofy and kiddish in the media, put some darker tones on screen. A little basic thematically and cinematically by today’s standards and doesn’t follow now well-know parts of the character - batman kills in these movies for instance. Still iconic soundtrack by Prince.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Joel Schumacher’s (RIP🙏🏾) Batman
Batman Forever (1995) - played by Val Kilmer
Batman and Robin (1997) - played by George Clooney
While technically, in the same universe, as the Tim Burton movies, after Batman Returns, was criticized for being too dark for child audiences of the time, Joel Schumacher was bought in. And with a very gay 80s director, came Batman movies that were universally panned for being overblown, camp, and childish. They still get clowned and memed on today, but they’re cult classics now though thanks to some pretty popular, YouTube reviews that reveal a lot about their story and production history - Batman Forever is my favorite of all of them. Also, great theme song: Kiss from a Rose by Seal.
Sidenote: the only movies to feature Batgirl and Robin
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Christopher Nolan’s Batman
Batman Begins (2005) - played by Christian Bale
The Dark Knight (2008) - played by Christian Bale
The Dark Knight Rises (2012) - played by Christian Bale
The big ones. The Nolan Trilogy. Definitely the most popular. Brought the character back from its then camp and admonished reputation by making it a lot darker, a lot grittier and a lot more realistic. Being the first Batman to use digital cameras and having an Academy Award winning performance by the late great Heath Ledger as the Joker made these movies insanely loved. If you weren’t there, I can’t even explain to you how big they were.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Zack Snyder’s Batman (aka DCEU)
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), Suicide Squad (2016), Justice League (2017), Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021), The Flash (2023)
all played by Ben Affleck
Don’t think about it. I hate it. We’re moving on.
Matt Reeves’ Batman
The Batman (2022) - played by Robert Pattinson
The most recent, incredibly critically acclaimed, the first good Batman in a decade. My second favorite of all of them. Somehow, even darker, grittier and more realistic than the Nolan trilogy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
BONUS:
Kevin Conroy’s Batman
The actor responsible for voice acting Batman in basically every piece of animation from the 90s to about the 2010s. Beloved by all, may he rest in peace.
Tumblr media
Adam West’s Batman
The campy 60s show. It’s silly, but it still has the best Catwoman and the scene where Adam West has to play Bruce Wayne calling Batman on the phone is criminally good acting. Again, rest in peace.

Just had a random thought. While thinking about the “Indiana Jones” original trilogy, I’ve developed a sort of newfound appreciation for the casting of Harrison Ford. My thoughts haven’t necessarily changed on this character, I still think Indy is fun but not that complex of a character, it’s just that now I imagine casting the character wasn’t the easiest thing in the world.
What Indy lacks in complexity, he makes up for sheer leading man charisma. This is a role where you absolutely need someone who can be able to act without saying anything. Because Indy has to be both:
1) convincing as an Everyman protagonist, in that he’s vulnerable and relatable enough that you can convince the audience that he’s not superhuman and is just a regular guy.
2) the coolest man who has ever lived. Someone who can walk into frame and exude “Yeah, I’m that guy” energy.
Harrison Ford really did have that level of charisma where he can be relatable and vulnerable enough to convince you he’s the underdog, but also make you think he’s the coolest person ever. I’ve tried imagining some other leading actors in the role and, honestly, it makes you realize that Indiana as a character needs more than just a handsome leading man.
Arnold Schwarzenegger wouldn’t have been able to convince you he’s an Everyman protagonist. Sylvester Stallone is better at playing more vulnerable, complicated characters like Rambo and Rocky. Michael Biehn is good at the underdog role, but not necessarily at being the cool guy. Keanu Reeves, while I love the guy to death, is too wooden to be the charming, cool guy (he’s better off at comedy and darker roles anyways). Kurt Russell and Clint Eastwood were close, but I think they’re better off at being action hero badasses. Bruce Willis, I think he’s similar to Keanu in that he’s better off at comedy and darker roles (even his most famous action movie role as John McClane just shows he excels in being comedic, not necessarily being the cool guy).
The actors who I felt could’ve done Indiana Jones justice, aside from Harrison Ford, were Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Denzel Washington, and Charlie Cox (Daredevil convinced me he could be the Everyman protagonist, She-Hulk convinced me he could pull off the cool guy role). And, if South Korea made the Indiana Jones movies, Won Bin came to mind.
EDIT: I just realized. Pedro Pascal! Just imagine a combination of Din Djarin, Joel Miller and Oberyn Martell.
I think “roguish charm” is what I’m getting at here. It’s actually quite hard to pull off the more I thought about it. For example, while I like David Harbour and his character of Jim Hopper, I don’t think Harbour can pull off roguish charm. I think that’s why Hopper came off so hostile and combative in Stranger Things season 3; Duffer Bros wrote him as Indiana Jones-like, but the end result was more off-putting than charming. As another bad example; Sean Penn in the movie “Shanghai Surprise”. That’s probably the worst example at an attempt at roguish charm.
Anyways, I’m curious. Which actor do you think could’ve pulled this role off convincingly?

THE FLASH has arrived after being a tad delayed.
Tumblr media
But what's 5 years and 3 months amongst friends.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Congrats to Andrés "Andy" Muschietti
Tumblr media
for getting this film across the finishing line. A s though there's reportedly a sequel script in play and Muschietti said that he would dream of replacing Ezra Miller in a subsequent film his assurance may be moot as THE FLASH signals the end of the DCEU while BLUE BEETLE will usher in the DC Universe under James Gunn.
But good news for Muschietti; he had been tapped to direct BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD.
No, not this cartoon beauty
Tumblr media
The live-action adaptation of the Grant Morrison run.
Tumblr media
For me, THE FLASH is the perfect swan song for the DCEU. Go out in style, Barry!
SPOILERS FOR THE FLASH (despite everyone and their grandmas posting spoilers all across social media to either trash the F/X or to spite an Ezra Miller fronted project). Yes, I have made hating spoilers a large part of my personality.
Tumblr media
THE GOOD
-Ezra Miller was a delight. I loved the dual iterations of Barry. As current day Bruce says their scars (maybe he said traumas) are what made them. Of course a Barry who was raised by his parents ends up with a different personality than a Barry who was scarred by his mother's murder and father's incarceration. He had to grow up fast yet remained socially stunted as he was consumed with getting justice for his father. I think it would get tiresome real quick if the film were just quirky/awkward Barry. We got grounded Barry and that other side.
Tumblr media
-It was a nice touch when he does the messaging to the nurse that she should seek professional help after such a jarring event but the JL themselves haven't figured that out for themselves yet.
-I don't believe I have ever read a Flash standalone so maybe all of these themes were covered in his issues but there were certainly strains of Booster Gold Vol. 2 and Flashpoint in this. Alt!Barry repeatedly turning back time to try to save Supergirl and Batman and failing was exactly like Booster Gold trying to save Barbara Gordon from being shot and paralyzed by the Joker. Each time she would still get shot and Booster himself would be pulverized by the Joker Gang until Rip Hunter stopped him and let him know that event was a fixed point that couldn't be changed. It had to happen.
And Flashpoint where Barry wakes up to a new universe and tries to get back to the standard timeline but instead ends up and remains in a new universe similar but different from his own.
Which leads to -
-Batmans!!! I still don't know what makes a good Batman, but I do know what makes a good Bruce Wayne and Val Kilmer and Ben Affleck is that for me so I delighted in seeing him again. So fantastic that all these years later Michael Keaton gets his swan song.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As Barry tells Bruce things change across multiverses but there are constants such as Bruce having a Alfred as it is fated. But there is also, seemingly, the constant that Bruce is defined by being Batman. In THE DARK KNIGHT RISES he doesn't return to Bruce Wayne but instead ducks out of society until Gotham is truly threatened and only bows out when he is assured that Gotham is in good hands. In THE FLASH Bruce cleans up Gotham and retreats to a hermetic existence until Barry coaxes him out. He dies happily in battle as Batman, a better death than just dying as the pedestrian Bruce Wayne.
And as I love reaching back to the past and closing circles seeing George Clooney as Bruce was amazing.
Talk about reaching back-
-I LOVED THE REIMAGING OF CHRISTOPHER REEVES' SUPERMAN! I bow down to poorly rendered CGI G.O.A.T Superman.
This is the man who said, "I think I was the right actor for the part at the time I played it, but I think the role is larger than any particular actor and should be reinterpreted from generation to generation."
Tumblr media
How fitting that so many reinterpretations were presented, including the payoff of the Eric Stoltz BACK TO THE FUTURE jokes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just as Stoltz was the Marty McFly that never really was, we got Nic Cage's near Superman reference!!
He exists in the multiverse!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and yeah, we saw other Flashes but who cares when there is Supermen...and Helen Slater's Supergirl!
Another trip through the multiverse was done courtesy of TITANS where Gar
youtube
-The humour wasn't overkill. Loved how they did the slow reveal of Bruce being tied to the Lasso of Truth. It seemed OOC for him to be bashful around Diana but I went with it, but no need; he was just lassoed. I hope people caught him chastising himself for not donating his wealth to help the poor.
-Loved Sasha Calle's Kara. Would have loved to see more of her.
Tumblr media
-Barry's stakes only work if the audience cares and how much did I love Maribel Verdú as Nora Allen. It would not have worked if we couldn't feel the depth of Barry's loss. Verdú was so loving and vibrant that my heart ached that Barry couldn't save her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Verdú, Temeura Morrison (who appears), Jesse L. Martin of TV's THE FLASH and these hotties are the best parents in the DCEU.
Tumblr media
-Nice seeing Muschietti's pal and MAMA lead Nikolaj Coster-Waldau play a rando who has his pizza snagged by Barry and Muschietti himself playing a man who gets his hot dog snatched by Barry.
-Speaking of dogs that end credits with the therapy dog in free fall was a perfect clincher to the prior mad scene with the babies in the forefront. And for those bashing the egregiously fake babies in that scene I think it would have created anxiety for plenty of people if they CGI'd actual babies. The comedic element of such lunacy works because they're so fake looking.
THE BAD
-Kiersey Clemons getting short-shrift.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If there isn't a sequel it's very disappointing how little she has to do. I would have loved to see their friendship flourish.
Also, does this film retcon the deleted scene which was reinstated in the Snyder cut of JUSTICE LEAGUE?
Tumblr media
Seemingly, no as she says she feels like she has seen Barry lately and he cagily denies it, but it's not as if Iris had a head injury or was knocked out during that scene. How can you not remember someone saving your life? Unless the implication is that Barry was moving so fast that she only got a glimpse of him, which...doubtful.
-Which brings me to my second issue..
THE REST
-The issue with the Flash as a standalone is that is really serves to showcase Batman and to a lesser extent Supergirl. They Captain America: Civil War'red the film!
Tumblr media
But maybe that's just because as a character Barry isn't that compelling. His #1 enemy is just a reverse of himself. Barry is a hero but also an unwitting agent of chaos as his defining trait is not the speed force but upending the universe in a quest to save his mother,
Tumblr media
so maybe there isn't enough meat on the bone so to speak character-wise to delve deeper but if they could do it with Aquaman then Barry deserved a deeper exploration.
-I don't think we needed the angle that Barry was at the scene of Zod's attack and he has kicks himself over not being able to save the kid's dad. He has enough of a complex.
-This could very well be because I have an unreasonable dislike of Ron Livingston but what a downgrade from Billy Crudup (who was too busy with AppleTV+'s THE MORNING SHOW to return).
Tumblr media
Crudup's scenes in JL were infinitely more effective than anything Livingston eked out in this.
Just as Crudup had a minor role in JUSTICE LEAGUE, but made a big impression, Luke Brandon Field appeared in one ep of AMC+'s wonderful INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE but I clocked him immediately in his small role as a criminal Bruce takes down.

Look! Up in the Spinner Rack!
It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Action Comics #1!
Yesterday (April 18, 2023) was the super-impressive 85th anniversary of Superman & Lois Lane's first appearances! These two are among my absolute favorite characters in all of fiction & it's amazing to see them continue to flourish & inspire today. There's something indelibly timeless & iconic about the Superman mythos & visuals that makes me feel like a kid again, fully believing a man can fly & wishing I could too.
I vehemently disagree that Superman's outdated & needs to be "cooler." He is cool, he's just not the angry power fantasy some people wish he was. There are other characters for that, but that doesn't mean Clark's one-dimensional or stagnant. He's not an unrelatable god either: he's an immigrant, an adopted son, a husband, a father, a friend. I also prefer him choosing to be a hero in the face of corruption–and because he himself was helped when he was most vulnerable–to being sent here on a mission to save & inspire us; he’s inspirational without being issued a mandate. Whether you prefer Clark Kent or Superman as the primary guy--I've come to think neither is a mask & they're both exaggerated yet honest sides of his personality--he proves power doesn't have to corrupt, that no matter where you're from you can help make things better, and that no matter how weak we seem or powerless we feel, we can all be someone's greatest hero in the fight for truth, justice, & a better tomorrow.
A long time ago I saw someone say Lois is such a strong character that she could've existed without Superman & been just as great, & that's absolutely true. While I love the screwball comedy tenor of their romance, the fact that she's Clark's equal in the fight for justice (& his superior in journalism) makes her every bit the hero he is. Sure she gets into danger a lot, but usually it's her tenacity to stop criminals & get the story that lands her there, not a plot requirement for Superman to rescue someone. I don't buy that Superman's humanity & goodness rests entirely on Lois--he loves people & that should be why he pursues journalism, to hear & share their stories, so if he did lose her he wouldn't lose himself--but the two of them absolutely evolve each other's worldviews & arcs brilliantly. Her cynicism & jaded view of the world fading when confronted by both Clark & Superman--but never losing her wit or edge--compliments Superman's never-ending battle challenging his optimism & faith in people perfectly.
Smallville is my absolute favorite version of Superman because of the writing, directing, acting, characters, relationships, & brilliant balance of Clark's dual heritages culminating in his ability to fly. It also didn't hurt that it hit at exactly the right time for me, as I was a year older than Clark when it aired & am still finding commonalities between us (both positive & regrettable hahaha) as I rewatch it again in tandem with Tom Welling & Michael Rosenbaum's Talkville podcast. Smallville also had a tone that allowed for relationship drama, horror-tinged villains, campy fun, & heightened comic book adventures, all grounded by human relationships (& it's my favorite show ever; the one that makes me want to be a writer), but there are so many other great iterations of the Man of Steel out there for everyone! Christopher Reeve (whose acting hands-down proves the glasses & demeanor change works), Superman & Lois, Superman Smashes the Klan, Superman: Miracle Monday, Superman the Animated Series, & Superman: Secret Identity are just a few of the best ones. Take time to check some out this week!
Despite all we've gotten in film, TV, animation, radio, & comics over the decades, there's a beautiful scene in Miracle Monday I've never seen adapted anywhere & I hope we finally get in Superman & Lois, My Adventures with Superman, or the newest iteration in Superman Legacy: at an especially low point, Clark flies to the arctic & just listens. He hears something no one else can--the sounds of the entire planet harmonizing to form the "song of the Earth"--and his heartbeat completes the song, showing him this is where he belongs.
It's insane that we're just 15 years out from Action Comics' 100th anniversary. How will the Man of Tomorrow meet our actual tomorrow? I can't wait to find out & see what's next for Lois & Clark (& Kara, John Henry, Jimmy, Jon, Natasha, Kong, Connor, Krypto, Lana, Martha, Jonathan, Perry, Lex, Brainiac, Bizarro, Parasite, Mxyzptlk, Metallo, Livewire, Silver Banshee, and the rest)!

The Flash
"The Flash" is a fun movie... if you choose to judge it without its numerous controversies.
Barry Allen is a speedster with the ability to go back in time. Despite the warnings from Bruce Wayne, Barry goes back in time to save his mother from being murdered. This obviously causes his future to change in unintended ways. What he doesn't realize is that changing something in the past affects both the present and the past.
It's no secret that there's been a lot of controversy regarding Ezra Miller and their behavior. I just want to clarify that this review will, for the most part, only be reviewing the movie itself in its own vacuum. I will, however, talk about my thoughts on the controversy after I've said my piece. Now that I've established the format of this review, let's get into it. So, I am a fan of the Flash. I remember rushing home from school to watch the CW television show every Tuesday. I was already a fan of "Arrow", so I remember watching the world premiere of "The Flash". I was also a fan of "Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox". When I saw that this movie would be loosely adapting that storyline, I had mixed feelings about it. Then, the initial reviews came flooding in and they were all talking about how this movie was better than The Dark Knight trilogy. The hype started to build within me because of how Warner Brothers was standing by this movie, even with all the behind-the-scenes disasters. I thought that this movie must be worth all the hype. Then I finally watched the movie in theaters and it was just okay. It's not bad, but it's not the best superhero movie ever. It's just average, maybe a little, tiny bit better than average. Ezra Miller's performance was praised by so many people in the industry, but I thought it was fine. There were a few great moments of acting, but it was teetering between good and obnoxious to me at times. The adaptation of "Flashpoint" had some good qualities and some bad qualities. There were a few changes that I thought were creative and other choices that felt uninspired. For example, I thought the connection between the spaghetti analogy and the can of tomatoes was creative, but I thought the final villain reveal was a bit uninspired. I think one of the biggest points of contention for this movie was the CGI. Personally, I thought it was bad, but not too distracting. I just don't really like the backward justification from the director about how the CGI was purposely bad because, from Barry's perspective, there are visual aberrations when going at the speed of light. Other than that, I didn't really care too much for the inclusion of Michael Keaton's Batman. I thought Sasha Calle's Supergirl was fantastic and I'm sad that we won't ever get to see her character explored. That's really all I have to say about the movie. In terms of the controversy, although there's a lot to talk about, I only really want to comment on two of them because they somewhat affected my thoughts on this movie. For starters, I think Ezra Miller's actions have been deplorable. They clearly need mental help and I hope they get it soon. I think a denouncement of Ezra's actions from Warner Brothers would've gone a long way in helping with the controversy, but instead, they never did and instead praised their acting in this film. I think that was a really bad move and I hope they finally come out in the future to address the problems instead of waiting for the drama to die down. The second thing I wanted to touch on was the cameos at the end of the film. That was truly in bad taste. I get that the studio wanted to make the universes all feel connected, but the choices were all the wrong ones. Not only were there a lot of deceased actors who couldn't give their consent to be in this controversy-ridden film, but there was also a cameo from George Reeves, who infamously committed suicide because he thought he couldn't escape his role as Superman. And to put a cherry on top of this shit sundae, all the deceased actors were brought back to life via horrible CGI. The filmmakers also didn't include Grant Gustin at all, who was arguably a more influential Flash than Ezra Miller ever was. The Nicolas Cage cameo was fun for those who knew about the Kevin Smith story, but it wasn't enough to wash the bad taste out of my mouth. All in all, I think this movie is better off forgotten. It really feels indicative of the tumultuous and ugly time that Warner Brothers is going through.

The Batman - Movie Review
by Jimelito Diego
THE BATMAN (2022)
Tumblr media
Reactions to The Batman are in, and they’re spectacular. Collider editor-in-chief Steven Weintraub called it “unlike any Batman movie you’ve seen,” fully justifying its intimidating 176-minute running time. “The 3-hour run time allows scenes to breathe,” he added. “No quick cuts. No wasted moment.” Erick Weber of Awards Ace, meanwhile, called The Batman “the most artistically stunning CBM [comic book movie] ever made.”
Tumblr media
Matt Reeves has made THE definitive BATMAN film with THE BATMAN. Think of Se7en but set in Gotham. Robert Pattinson’s eyes are so intense & observant under the black cowl while Michael Giacchino’s score is a grand & haunting masterwork. An epic, dark & thematically rich neo-noir.
Tumblr media
After the much-loved Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, it was always going to be a massive challenge to follow Christian Bale’s Bruce Wayne. Ben Affleck did a better job than he’s given credit for in Zack Snyder’s movies as an older, gruffer Caped Crusader, but perhaps was let down by Batman v Superman and certainly Joss Whedon’s cut of Justice League. He’s since been somewhat redeemed by the Snyder cut and hopefully in the upcoming multiverse caper The Flash, but in the meantime, it’s Robert Pattison’s turn as The Batman.
Tumblr media
Erik Davis of Fandango called it a “ferocious detective drama punctuated by moments of incredibly visceral action,” while Next Best Picture editor-in-chief Matt Neglia compared it to David Fincher’s Se7en, and called it “epic, dark, and thematically rich.”
Tumblr media
The Batman' is a refreshing adaptation, but 'handcuffed' “The Batman” has earned mixed reactions from critics. Some have praised the film as a deconstruction of the superhero genre, others found it to be a dark
