Past Lives

Zom 100 is what I consider a very good example of withing the context of anime a diference between fan service and active sexism. Because yes fan service can and most often is sexist, but even when it is its a much more internalized kind, the sort of “women are never ever not fuckable, reguardless of the situation” and then there is “I hate women, they are whores and bitches. I want them to suffer and get off on their pain”
Because this series does both.
Tumblr media
These two are fan service. They are at their core, characters and you can instantly tell they have something going on unrelated to sex and their outfits and general horny presentation is just there because the author likes thats and wants the sex appeal to to just be there because “theyre women why not make them sexy” they wear generally normal but appealing outfits that real people wear and are shown to do so willingly and for their own comfort. This is fine. Can be frustrating sometimes but I like boobs as much as anyone, they are very cute and pretty and I can live with it if not directly enjoy it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is misoginy. They arent dressed for the viewer to find them cute or appealing, but they are sexualized to a ridiculus digree both by the show and the male characters and all die horrifically, most in explicitly sexual ways, two being deeply slut shamed and sexualize in a way thats only done to actively degrade them, another one is made into a stereotype and is killed in a way that invokes a non consentual sexual act and one was made to be nurtering to the man who saw her as a literal point on a checklist and made to die alone for the sake of his minor character development. Especially the ofice lady her horrible fait is treated with intense joy, even by the man who suposedly adored her. This shows just such and intense hatred, and resentment towards women, the fact that they arent nearly as visually sexualized but are the ones actually having sex WITH THE PROTAGONISTS EVEN and then disgustingly shamed for it.
This is where you can notice when a creator is just horny and when they are an active misoginist. I have only seen three episodes of this show and dont really know much about the blonde girl but I will assume she is treated the same way as the other one with maybe at worst some “dosent realize shes being sexy” type deal just based of vibes. But I dont need to see more to know that this show hates women deeply. I was super hyped about this show and have put up with A LOT in the past. But this is so directly just direct hatred for women that I cant stand it. Because usually I can imagine that this is just how they feel about their art and dont usually think that way but you can so clearly see here what his fantasy and reality are that I am confident in my analisis of his views. It sucks. Especially with how it was seemingly progresive with its anti capitalist themes, its such a shame.

my seven (four) evil exes
not really, all my exes are frankly very nice people who were incredibly patient with me and with whom i share a lot of cherished memories
BUT!
i thought it would be fun to conceptualize what it would look like if i was in a scott pilgrim situation and someone had to fight my exes as if they were videogame bosses, with that in mind lets continue (i changed their names to protect their privacy) bear in mind a lot of this is cartoonishly exaggerated for the sake of comedy/combat design and not necessarily reflective of the actual person
Aaron - a stereotypical flamboyant gay guy
his boss fight would consist of a dance/combat sequence at a club where he is trying to seduce you to join his “study group” while making very overt advances towards you in a pepe le pew way. think of mettaton from undertale.
if he succesfully seduces you he will add you to his harem where he will be able to stop you from being with me.
Sally - a short chubby girl who is the shy one at the back of the classroom
her combat arena is an indie film movie set where she attacks you with boom mikes, cameras, dolly rails and reflectors that she controls with a little remote control panel. the things move like giant mechanical arms that punch and kick and swipe at you.
her only goal is to kill you so that you cant be with me
Zelda - a libertarian trans woman who loves jordan peterson
the fight occurs at the neko cafe that she owns. she uses the cats living in the cafe as her small army to attack you, harm you and eventually immobilize you, after that she starts lecturing you about philosofical nihilism and determinism so that you become depressed and lose your will to live and wont care about being with me anymore.
Tamara - another trans woman who accidentally created a cult when she was 10
her combat arena is at the secret base for her cult where she tries to trap you and snare you in the red string that she uses to build her corkboards filled with head canons, literary analisis and conspiracy theories. if she traps you she will use her powers of reinterpretation to retcon your past and turn you into a different person that doesnt even remember who i even am.

Hola Gaby!
Kill My Mind
"Keep me living from the last time, from the prision of the past life, on a mission just to feel like when you kissed from the last time"
Don't Let It Break Your Heart
"We’re driving down a one-way road to something better, what hurts you is gonna pass and you’ll have learnt from it when it comes back"
Two Of Us
"We'll end just like we started
Just you and me and no one else
I will hold you where my heart is
One life for the two of us"
We Made It
"Share a single bed and tell each other what we dream about, things we'd never say to someone else out loud, we were only kids just tryna work it out, wonder what they'd think if they could see us now"
Too Young
"I can't believe I gave in to the pressure
When they said a love like this would never last
So I cut you off 'cause I didn't know no better
Now I realise"
Walls
"Why is it that thank you is so often bittersweet?"
Habit
"You give me the time and the space
I was out of control
And I'm sorry I let you down
I guess that I know what I already knew
I was better with you
And I miss you now"
Always You
"Walked through my door, but it felt nothing like home
'Cause you're not home
Waiting to wrap your legs around me
And I know you hate the smoke without me"
Fearless
"Now, if happiness is always measured
By the life you design
That car in the drive
Then you should feel better than ever
But you know as well as I
It's all lies"
Perfect Now
"Every insecurity, like a neon sign, as bright as day
If you knew what you were to me
You would never try to hide away"
Defenceless
"We're sleeping on our problems like we'll solve them in our dreams
We wake up early morning, and they're still under the sheets"
Only The Brave
"All the lonely shadow dances
From the cradle to the grave"
Copy Of A Copy Of A Copy
"In a strange way, all in this together
Been this way forever
You're not the only one"
Change
"When you gonna realize
You don't get another life
Always over-analyze"
Perdón si esto es muy largo pero tenía que sacarlo de mi. Louis es un artista y un compositor increíble, en sus canciones siempre trata de decirnos algo y precisamente por eso son profundas. No puedo esperar a que salga LT2.
Im so proud of Louis🤧
Hola anon!
Admiro realmente a la gente que hace estos análisis, personalmente no muy soy buena para eso, ni tampoco para leerlos, me encanto el analisis, esperemos pronto tengamos nueva música <3

Victor’s posture…an analisis…
Victor at 27 is a skating legend. His entrance to the ice at the World Cup in Tokyo confirms this. He is a confident man, he knows he will win (very Yurio like xD) and he will probably have no rival.
But let’s look at the Victor in this moment of Ice Adolescence. A nervous 16-year-old, facing the best skaters in the world. Perhaps he looks  confident and his smile looks calm. But it is very interesting to note two things he does when he enters the ice that he does not do in the anime.
First, the hard hitting of his blades as he gets into his starting pose. Someone might say that he does it to remove the rest of the ice from the blades. However, watch his fists as he skates. The 27-year-old Victor stretches out his hands comfortably, the 16-year-old Victor clenches his fists as he settles into his starting position. He gives himself strenght, trying to get the excess adrenaline out of his body.
And this is great because these are signs of his great nervousness. Yes, Victor is nervous because at that moment he is only a promise of skating, not the living legend that everyone knows. He is entering Seniors, not that he has previous experience facing the greatest skaters in the world at that time.
And I love to think about all those details that Sayo and Kubo are releasing in so few seconds. They make me love the human way they portray skaters.
Before you crucify me xD, I’m not wrong when I say Victor’s 16 (no, but you’re going to contradict me by saying that in the trailer it says he’s 17 in the Olympic season and that Kubo doesn’t lie xD ) And it is true. Victor is 17 at the time of competing in the Olympics. The winter Olympics are held in February, a couple of months after his birthday. But this scene in Paris probably refers to the Eric Bompard cup held in November, before his birthday. A senior of 16, both eager and nervous to conquer the world.  This teaser not only brings beautiful images from the past, it really shows us all Victor’s desire to start making history

Hello there!
So today i have something that can interest us, kd supporters. Idk if this a analisys¿? but yeah more like me just ranting, what's new lmao. Today a super popular artist where i'm from announced on her instagram that she's having a baby and that she has been with her partner for 7 years, ok, the interesting part is that her partner is a woman.
No one, literally no one from the general public knew she was dating someone, much less that she has been together with a woman for 7 YEARS, like she kept her relationship in secret for 7 freakin years and just released the news yesterday on her instagram because she wanted to share with her fans that she and her partner are having a baby. In her post tho, says really interesting things regarding her wishes and things about the media.
I'm going to translate her post (this) for people who doesn’t speak spanish can read it, please have in mind i'll do my best to translate accurately but sometimes translating from language to language can lost some meaning.
Music is my form of expression/comunicating with you all. I've shared with you every part of my life through it. The most precious thing I have in my life and that I protect the most is my family and my intimacy and I'm very thankful that my coworkers on the music industry (other artist, media, press) have always respect it. I wanted to share this beautiful and important news in my life with you on the day it arrived (the baby) but there are people who are already spreading misleading info with bad feelings just for the morbo of it. (she wanted to wait but bc of some people she has to make this public rn)  Since I was a kid I've always seen relationships more than in a black and white spectrum: two persons loving each other with consent for me is love no matter the gender. And despite I never thought that the love of my life was going to be a woman, we met 7 years ago and love took us by surprise. At first it was hard for both of us to accept the fact that we had arrived to our destiny. But putting the fear aside, I opened my arms totally to my happiness. Today my wife and I are expecting our first baby, a beautiful baby girl that thanks to god she's arriving full of life and love. My job is music/making music and when I stand in front of my dear media coworkers I just want to talk about it: my job, no more, nor less. I'm going to be the only one to decide when and how much I'm going to share about my life and intimacy with the world just like how i've been doing it until this day. I love every one of you and i'm very thankfull to infinity to have you.
note: i guess she says media are her coworkers because media, press, public figures all works together/in sync/in the same field¿?
She has been with her partner all this time, the media knew, her friends knew, public figures knew, everyone from the job and her private life knew but no one said ANYTHING in years, the general public knew NOTHING about this. They were literally a known secret within the industry.
Doesn't her relationship remembers you of some other rs? Yep, since the first time I read about it my brain can't stop ringin with KD KD KD, lol. I mean, I think every KD supporter knows that KD is basically this, a known secret within the industry, of course people they know know about their rs. Have in mind that KD are BOTH public figures and IN THE SAME group so it only complicates more their rs, both have fans (and ofc sasaengs) so they need to be extra careful meanwhile I think in her rs her partner is not from the industry so is more easy to hide. (i guess)
So basically if she was able to do it, of course KD can as well, i'm sure as hek more public figures hides their private lifes, there's another artist that was HUGE here (all mothers knows and loves him lmao, the common joke is that he's the father of our generation because every mom say he's the father of their child) but he NEVER let media expose his family, literally people knew he had a wife and kids like 15+ years into his career. And I'm pretty sure there's a lot more examples like these all around the world. I just wanted her case to be my main example here because as KD, her relationship it’s an homosexual one, it was possible for them to hide it despite how juicy the info must has been for the media, I mean, even if here we're more open to lgbt+ people it's still a pretty big deal when a public figure comes out just imagine that on SK.
What's my point? That is possible for public figures as KD to maintain a secret relationship, a secret homosexual relationship FOR YEARS, with people from their work/friends knowing, people from the MEDIA knowing (i mean, remember the video abt the reaction of the mc on weekl.y id.ol when a kd pic shows up) and still have no one from the general public/fans knowing about it, ofc in every country is different, there’s a lot of factors that can decide if something is leak but I think that media works almost the same everywhere so this situations can apply to anyone in the industry all around the world. I know in SK sasaengs are more common but I mean they have been doing a pretty good job until now keeping KD in the dark lmao.
Something she said in her post stayed in my head the most "I'm going to be the only one to decide when and how much I'm going to share about my life and intimacy with the world" this is so true to some extend, it's up to public figures or/and their companies how much their private life goes out, they for sure have friends/contacts in the media so it's highly possible that they are inform of the majority of their scandals beforehand the media post about it for a $olution to happen and don't release anything, ofc that's not always the case because I mean we still get scandals, right? but yeah, people think they know all about their idols but have in mind that 10% we know about them it's just what they want us to know.
And for us international fans is more difficult to know things, this leads me to talk about the "newest" KD moment that came out, the cute "Ji grabbing and patting Ks' hips" moment. This moment was from a fansign that happened 5-6 months ago (i think), there was a fanacc that talked about the moment at the time but the video just came out now (correct me if im wrong tho). Just think in all the moments, in all the photos, in all the videos we didn't get to see, we didn't get to live at all and no one said anything. Or the moments that reach us months or years after it happened (because it has happened in the past, this is not the first time a KD moment reach us months/years after it happened). I remember someone here saying something along the lines that if korean fans knows 10%, we overseas fans know just like 5% of things or less. Let that sink in.
So please don't be discourage when antis say things about KD, like kxk and jxk were real because media exposed them, lol i mean if someone can hide a relationship for YEARS with almost everyone from the industry KNOWING, I guess it's pretty easy to make fake scandals to protect said relationship so please take this cases as examples and make your own criteria, don't let people, media or fake scandals think for you, i know it's hard to swim against the flow but we can do it.
So that's it, if someone want to add more about this you can reply to this post or my ask is always open if you want to talk. English is not my first language so bare with me please. TT I have a lot of things in my head but it's still very dificult for me to express them in another language so please don't be so harsh on me if this post lacks sense lmao. I love KD with all my heart.

Escaping From The Past
Tumblr media
Why do people tend to recall actions that happend in the past? Is it really worth thinking about it so much to the point where it makes everyone feel stressed out? Does your past define you? One thing is for sure, that everyone has their own opinion on this particular matter and here is mine.
First things first, the word “past”, as we all know, has to do with  actions or events that have occured/ happened. In that matter, recalling memories, bad ones, or actions that we are not proud of, because “this is not us”, that  all took place in the past cannot be undone. What happened happened and we cannot change that, no matter how much we would like to. We are allowed to make mistakes and  learn from them. We are human beings, which means we are not perfect. We can always be a better version of what we are now by acknowledging our mistakes (“I shouldn’t have done that”, “This wasn’t right” etc.), trying not to repeat them and then move forward while improving ourselves.
Accusing ourselves is not the way to go
         Steps of solving a problem
Another thing I wanted to mention, was that by accusing ourselves all the time we do nothing rather than feeling hurt and emotionally drained .These accusiative actions, are a way of punishment, not a solution. In order to be able to solve a problem we firstly need to identify it,“what is the problem that we have fallen into?”. After that, comes the analisis of the problem, so the main question here is “how serious is our problem?”, which will indicate how fast shall we act. Then we have the root of the cause, in this one we should focus on our inner self and lastly find the solutions that best correspond to our problem, which can only happen if we put it into practice. It’s a long process for sure but it is much needed when we feel trapped in and by our thoughts and feelings.
This also applies to people who only accuse others for the way they treated and acted towards them. There is never only one side at fault. Now, there will be people who are going to say things such as “They said something that they shouldn’t have”,“They provoked me” and more and it is much understandable believe me. With their actions some people can really bring out the worst in us, but that certainly does not mean that we should act the way they act towards us. We need to control our anger, if we want to think clearer. Also, in some situations it would be nice if we could stop acting impulsively, because don’t forget that sometimes not thinking thoroughly before speaking may cause problems that later on we will regret.
At this point, I would like to say that arguments are slighlty unavoidable in day to day life, when stress and pressure tends to pile up. For example, our interaction with people everyday, whether we live in the same house or we are friends or just colleagues, people with different personalities can cause tension between two or more individuals.
From the above, it is pretty clear that by recalling actions we are not that proud of can be really self-damaging. We don’t have to overthink and overanalyze everything that has happened, staying calm and talking things through are a much better option. What we shall do is to try and find ourselves, learn from our mistakes and move forward and never forget that there is alw ays room for improvment. At the end of the day what we have to think about is this, do we live in the past or the present?

Bicara tengah malam - Lokman Noor Adam Part 2
Lessons for PKR and
Harapan from Slim polls...
The Slim by-election has taken place. I congratulate both the winner and his competitors as well as the constituency’s voters for the successful exercise. Nevertheless, the results were not what we, the combined opposition of Malaysia, would have liked. The fault does not lie with the candidate which was run — he tried his best against difficult odds. However, the Slim by-election is cause for all opposition parties — especially PKR and Pakatan Harapan — to seriously reflect and consolidate, especially in terms of strategy as well as approach. But it cannot be denied that the Independent candidate that was backed by the opposition was still defeated by a party whose leaders are facing criminal charges in court and who are part of a “backdoor” government that is increasingly fractious as well as unstable. Indeed, the candidate selected by Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) was not only defeated in Slim, but with a majority five-times higher than in 2018 (10,945 votes compared to 2,183) in a seat that is almost 75 percent Malay. This was despite claims by some Harapan politicians and analysts that Mahathir’s presence was absolutely necessary to swing the Malay and other voters, that no one else could do it.
What is more concerning for the opposition is that the BN candidate polled 13,060 votes, ie more than the combined total of Umno and PAS’ 2018 votes (12,430). Moreover, BN reportedly won all polling stations in Slim — including those which were predominantly non-Malay. The Pejuang candidate this round got 2,115 votes compared to Bersatus 6,144 in 2018 (when it was still with Harapan). This suggests that large swathes of opposition-leaning supporters stayed away from the ballot boxes or went to BN, which is also worrying.
It is true that Slim was a BN/Umno stronghold. Moreover, the late incumbent was popular, and the candidate Umno ran to replace him had worked closely with him in the past. Voters may have been swayed by other local factors. But it is also a fact is that Pejuang ran a campaign that was largely devoid of issues or a message beyond expecting voters to back them simply because of who they are and who their chairperson is. This is an entitled attitude and a recipe for disaster. When GE15 comes, Harapan certainly cannot go to voters offering nothing but relitigating the feuds of the last decade, whether it is the 1MDB scandal, the issues that confronted the federal government we led from 2018—2020 or the Sheraton Move.
I am not saying that these points are irrelevant, but it cannot be the only things that we run on. And Harapan certainly should not be aligning itself with other parties who cannot see or understand this. “Kleptokrat”, “Kerajaan pintu belakang” and “pengkhianat” will not be slogans we will win the next general election on. Not on their own. The fact is that Pejuang did not offer a compelling economic message to the voters of Slim. The party could not persuade them that their lives and livelihoods would improve if they voted for their candidate. There was no vision, no hope or promise for the future. And that is why the Pejuang candidate lost. This is the mistake that Harapan must avoid in the next election. Of course, we don’t have to shy away from exposing the abuses and lack of legitimacy of the current government. But this cannot be in the absence of a plan for bettering the economic prospects of Malaysians, especially in light of the devastating Covid-19 pandemic. The heavy defeat at Slim can be a turning point for PKR and Harapan — but only if we learn the right lessons from it. - Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad,mk

hi :D i've been reading your bubbline rants and omg, i 100% agree on everything you say.i love really long post and analisis about my ships so thank you so much!
Hi there! Thank you for the kind words and sorry to have kept you waiting. I just realized after reading your message that I really haven’t written all that much about “Sky Witch”. Well, I talked about briefly here and there plus the Season 5.2 review, but mostly I just focused on other Bubbline episodes. Let’s fix that, shall we? And btw feel free to ask me to rant about anything, I live for these.
“Sky Witch” is an interesting one since in some ways it’s the first Bubbline episode, in some ways it’s the second and you could also consider it to be a simple prologue. “Sky Witch” arrived two years after “What Was Missing” and broke the radio silence surrounding Bubbline that came after the controversy, so you could look at it as a definitive move that said: “yes, we are going to explore this, here you are, finally”. But then again, it wasn’t that definitive, was it? It took another two years to get “Varmints” and things only picked up from there. Only, there were smaller moments between Marcy and PB throughout the remaining of Season 5 and 6, so in a way, we got way more after “Sky Witch” than we did before.
It’s just strange to think about it because back in 2013 it was such a miracle that we were focusing on this aspect of the show once again, even if for only an episode, and this came around the time of that messy Olivia Olson confirmation and the tweet as well. Back in 2013, “Sky Witch” may as well have been confirmation of Bubbline itself, but looking back now it was only the beginning of a journey that’s still not over yet. Personally, I remember being quite excited for “Sky Witch” since it was the first fresh Bubline episode I got, the first one I watched when it first aired. It was more than I expected but at the same time, it was a bit disappointing, maybe because I was viewing things solely from Marceline’s perspective back in the day and this is PB’s episode.
Make no mistake, I still adore “Sky Witch”. Compared to the excitement of “What Was Missing”’s introduction to this relationship and the absolute perfection that is “Varmints” it somehow seems less significant, but it’s not. “Sky Witch” presents us with an awkward yet hopeful kind of dynamic between Bubblegum and Marceline. There isn’t as much tension as there was before but there’s a clear sense of discomfort. They are speaking again and Marceline actively seeks out PB’s help, but there’s an awkward, unspoken question hanging in the air as the two interact. Does this mean they are friends again? Are they over their past differences? What does this mean for the future? Though I wouldn’t exactly call any Bubbline episode subtle with its intentions, “Sky Witch” is definitely the one with the most underlying themes of a relationship and it’s so damn smart about it.
Of course, when talking about “Sky Witch” the first thing that pops into my mind The ShirtTM. Not only it’s an object that connects “What Was Missing” to this episode, but its significance is increased tenfold by the end of it. This is one of the reasons why I say that “What Was Missing” is more from Marcy’s perspective and “Sky Witch” updates the story with Bonnie - and then “Varmints” brings it all together and puts an end to the initial conflict. If you look at “What Was Missing”, you see Marcy being upset and get the idea that the two have some kind of a previous relationship that clearly ended badly, but the only hint towards PB still having feelings about is the very end with The ShirtTM. Now “Sky Witch” builds on that, it literally starts out with Bonnie wearing it just like she said she would. She spends the episode trying to help Marceline and is damn efficient about it too. She completes the mission no matter what and is there to balance Marcy’s extreme emotional state out with her rationality. She also happens to give up the very shirt that she’s been holding onto just to help Marceline.
Sometimes I’m just casually thinking about how much I love AT and all the great storylines and then “Sky Witch” and The ShirtTM just hit me in the face. Everything about the last minutes is just perfect (well, excluding Maja’s abuse of her servant which is actually quite morbid and sad, but that’s not part of the Bubbline aspect). The way we don’t know at first what Bonnie has done to get Hambo back, the way they escape together, and then the way the truth is revealed. More than that, the fact that Maja explicitly states that the shirt (okay I’ll stop with the TM) has much more “psychic resonance” than Hambo. I mean, holy shit, do you ever just think about? After “I Remember You” and “Simon & Marcy” Maja just casually shows up and declares that the shirt is even better than Hambo. Holy shit, the implications.
The way AT wikia still tries to justify this as the shirt only being fresher and not actually more important still earns a bitter laugh from me every time. Just like with every other Bubbline moment: sure, you can pretend it’s not gay, but why bother (although less and less so with recent episodes, see every other ask I got). So yeah, this is the final confirmation of Marcy still meaning just as much to Bonnie as the other way around, if not even more so. But like I said, “Sky Witch” is more than just this beautiful scene with so many implications. It’s also a whole episode of a beautiful, changing dynamic that’s so underappreciated even by me. I’m really grateful for this question because it made me think a lot about why “Sky Witch” is so important.
No, it’s not just the shirt. That’s still incredible and blows my mind every time, but the rest of the episode is just as powerful. It’s especially fun now, having seen Season 7, to go back and watch “Sky Witch”. As I said, they are over the initial “long time no see still mad at you btw” but still not at a stage where they could openly talk about what happened. Marcy’s invitation doubles in two ways: she genuinely wants to hang out with Bonnie and knows that she needs her help in order to find Hambo. She’s masking both desires with the other one because these are genuine feelings and Marceline is still not the best at those. So she says she wants to hang out in a half-hearted way only to admit that she needs help, but she can’t fully admit she needs help either so she’s masking that with the real desire to hang out. Makes sense? I don’t know. But it’s beautifully complicated. And Bonnie goes along because she’s pre-Season 6 breakdown and still believes she can have it all.
Thanks for making me realize that I actually really love the awkwardness of “Sky Witch”. These dorks are not 100% comfortable and don’t know how to act but they try. By the end, they reach a new level where they are more likely to just hang out and aren’t hostile anymore, as seen in “Red Starved” and “Princess Day”. It absolutely paves the way to “Varmints”. And as one last thing, going back to the shirt: isn’t the symbolism behind both Hambo and the shirt beautiful? Bonnie lets go of the shirt in this episode, which was quite likely her only connection to Marceline for a long time but in return, she gets Marcy herself back. Marceline gets Hambo back, but later sacrifices him when she sees Simon himself once again. Oh, objects of great emotional significance.

Plot 0: Music analisis i guess
Not gonna lie... part of the delay is that i didnt want to my rage induced discourse filled mind at the time get into the wrap up (plus the good old lazyness) so now after so long i think i can do this better. But still gonna check each song and see what do we get of each.
Let’s Just Live: This opening actually grew on me with the pass of time, specially in the sense of moving forward after all the crap volume 3 puts the character and to extention US throught. Now the full version... IM NOT FUCKING CRYING I SWEAR! TuT AND NOT IM READING THE TRIVIA AND FUCK IM LEAVING! (actually nope, but damn this song is emotional... and slightly Nuts & Dolts because i said so xD Will explain eventually).
Like Morning Follows Night: Blake song 2 sentences in, one verse later is basically Blake and Sun’s arc put into song and not shippy at aOKAY WHO THOUGHT THE RAPPING PART WAS A GOOD IDEA???? Ok its not bad only caught me off guard and is the only too shippy part of the song and somewhat rubbed me the wronh way.
Bad Luck Charm: Qrow’s song of course.Very basic, very effective... and sadly not exactly inaccurate... i mean, part of it is Qrow probably being to emo (funny he is Ruby’s uncle xD) but he HAS base on his claims... i do wonder. If offered the oportunity to get rid of his semblance... would Qrow take it?
This life is Mine: oh dear here we go, Weiss song where she FINALLY flips the musically proverbial middle finger to Schnithole so she can have her own life. Interesting to note? The song came in 3 layers: Basic, rebel, fuck you. The one we heard on the chapter this song premiered was basic, Weiss escaping is the rebel part... im so eager to see the fuck you part one day :D (sidenote, i heard of the sick guitar this had before... and for some reason i always pictures Klein playing it... one can dream :P)
Home: Calming... and one of those are vague enough to be any kind of song. Right now im picturing it to be from Ruby to Yang (and the rest of team RWBY most likely) probably helped for the scene it played. Not much to add, except that now im asking why is wasnt use to the ending of the volume... and i think i have an answer for that... in the next song.
Armed and Ready: Volume 3 was the lick our wounds period, now? ITS TIME FOR THE COMEBACK! and the poster-woman for that is not other than our dear Yang Xiao-Long Armed (goddamn it Barb) and ready to go back in the game and do what she has to... and yet... im playing the role of Qrow here as a bad luck charm in saying guys... prepare for dissapointment. Not that things will be bad to the point of no return... but something sounds off in the song, it doesnt get me HYPED as it should... and it makes me worried of Yang once more, she is on the positive days after her accident... what will happen when we crashed head first into a bad day? Well... only time will tell i guess, but just as an extra comment here’s a lyric from the song that stroke me hard  “Revenge, my happy ever after” And as we learned thanks to las volume... there are NO happy ever afters. (Sidenote: oddly and sadly just like in volume 1 most of Yang development comes in form of song, i mean volume 4 did a far better job... but still).
Lusus Naturae: [Song locked for the Worange Traveler since he hasnt played the videogame Grimm Eclipse... maybe for some other day]
Bmblb: DO I REALLY HAVE TO LISTEN TO THIS? My shipping heart has only so much tolerance for this shit! *sigh* fine let’s see what do we get from this: yeah, gonna need new teeth after this DAMN IT WAS TOO SWEET! xD And okay i will give the credit that besides Boop is the best shipping song in this last 3 volumes, and could past as a normal song in any radio if you ask me, but i dont think imma play it again.
Boop (Acoustic): Slightly sad we broke the tradition of opening in acoustic, with that said... THIS IS AN ACOUSTIC FOR THE BEST (ALIVE) SHIP IN THE SHOW SO FUCK IT I APPROVE!!! :D
And that’s pretty much it. Nice round of songs all around... oddly neought the villian song this time is apparently only the one from the video game... i need to play that sometime...

Hi! can you do an analisis on Shirogane the same way you did with Ouma? I love reading your posts
Thank you so much! I’m sorry to have left this message forso late, but I wanted to go through absolutely every inch of the Chapter 6trial from start to finish really carefully before answering this, because Ifeel like Tsumugi deserves a really full, well-done analysis, and I wanted tobe able to write one to the best of my ability!
Tsumugi has jumped up in my character rankings since gettingto actually see her in action for myself. She’s a fantastic antagonist, absolutely fascinating as a character, and she is just all around fun to watch in the final trial. There’sso much about her that leaves room for speculation—the entire ending andepilogue is all about speculation, after all, and there’s no way to really besure with her, because like with much of ndrv3, she’s someone who wants to puther entire existence into a “catbox” of sorts and make sure the mystery can’tever really be solved for sure.
I don’t think anyone would be reading this post if they didn’talready know a bit about Tsumugi’s character and the things that happen in thelater chapters, but just in case, this post will contain heavy spoilers forChapter 6, so don’t read past the read more if you’re not comfortable!
So I’ve talked a bit before about how one of the mostfantastic and enjoyable things with Tsumugi is that she’s not Junko. We finallyfor the first time in the core series have a well-written, effective antagonistwho is not the same as Junko, who was foreshadowed very well in advance, andwho was among the group the whole time. Compared to twists like “mastermindTengan,” which was the single biggest letdown dr3 had to offer, the twist withTsumugi is outstanding.
It’s so hard to pin down exactly what makes “her,” becauseher being is entirely comprised of fiction. We see her for the first fivechapters, hiding in plain sight, clearly prone to human error and makingmistakes where she shouldn’t be, and without knowing anything about her as themastermind, it’s easy to buy into exactly the kind of act that she’s trying toplay: that she’s boring, plain, thatshe doesn’t contribute anything, isn’t worth paying attention to because she justflies right under the radar.
I feel like one of the core things to understand aboutTsumugi is this: that while the Tsumugi we see for most of the game, the “boringand plain” one who slips right by without catching anyone’s notice is certainly“the real” Tsumugi, from her own perspective, it’s just one more character that she plays.
Tsumugi is completely marked and defined as a character andas an antagonist by her complete inability to distinguish reality from fiction. The reason it’s so hard to tell how much of what she says is a lie and how muchis true (without catching very specific hints) is because she really, reallydoesn’t care. She makes anything and everything into a “lie” or “reality”according to whatever scenario she’s trying to pull, and she can start weavingnew scenarios from nothing at only a moment’s notice, true to her SHSLCosplayer ability. Tsumugi Shirogane is a person to us as the people playingthe game, and to the other characters around her. But to herself, “TsumugiShirogane” is just one more character she plays among an ensemble of fiction,as she tries to keep maintaining a fictional world in a fictional game for thesake of the only thing that feels enjoyable to her anymore.
In the Chapter 6 trial, it’s easy to sort of fall into thistrap where everything Tsumugi is saying gets taken as a sort of “truth bomb”and even when it sounds horrible and we want to deny it, we brace ourselves toprobably admit it was true, because that’s how things were with Junko. Junkohad a few lies here and there in her own final trial and showdown in dr1, butfor the most part she dropped truth after horrible truth, from everything aboutthe state of the outside world to the fact that the Togami family had fallen, and both the players and the characters in dr1 sort of had to take her at herword at some point because she was such a force of nature.
But Tsumugi is no force of nature, but merely an imitationof one. She is all about imitation. She emphasizes that her cosplays arethemselves “perfect imitations of the real thing.” The only way she canpossibly achieve that result is if she has no “real thing” of her own. Only bydiscarding one’s “true” sense of self and throwing oneself into fictionentirely can one achieve this perfect ability to camouflage and even believe orhonestly feel “what the characters are feeling.” Tsumugi has no real sense ofself, because she relies on Danganronpa, and on fiction, to give it to her.
She’s just absolutely fascinating. Certainly, she admiresJunko. She understands Junko, and she wouldn’t be able to emulate Junko ormimic her so perfectly in the trials without knowing how vital Junko is as acharacter to DR. In some ways, it’s even true that Tsumugi does crave “despair”in very much the same way that Junko does—because despair itself is such aconstant, vital presence in DR overall. Without “despair,” there’s no DR asTsumugi knows it. That’s the entire reason she tried to pull the stunt with theremember light in Chapter 5, and convince the group that they were all tied toHope’s Peak Academy.
But it’s not justabout despair. It’s about “hope vs. despair,” and it’s about the core, essential ideals that make DR what it is. The desire to see that conflict, tosee the suffering and then the climactic resolution, and to see the characters’resolve and how they overcome these things again and again, is precisely whatis being commented on, and it’s those desires that have let the killing gameshow in ndrv3 go on for as long as 53 seasons.
Junko’s primary goal in dr1 was to prove her theory aboutdespair right, to show that even the “hope” of the world with the 78thClass from Hope’s Peak would kill each other and fall into despair with onlythe slightest provocation, and to pull all of this from behind the scenes andget away with it as long as possible. Although she came to accept being “defeated”by hope because it was so despair-inducing, and allowed herself to go to herown execution, getting caught and beaten wasn’t within Junko’s calculations, and it wasn’t what she wanted.
But getting caught is exactlywhat Tsumugi wanted, once the game is clearly getting to its final stages. Itdidn’t have to be her: it could have very well been Ouma, as she trieddesperately to set him up to be the Junko-figure of Chapter 5. It could havebeen “Kaede’s twin sister.” It could have been a million different fictionalscenarios that she kept planning on the spot, lying about, coming up with, because fiction has so much infinite potential to her—unlike reality, which hasnothing at all worth living in.
Once everyone was in need of a mastermind in Chapter 6,Tsumugi was more than happy to step up to the plate herself. She was fine withexposing herself, and leaving extremely obvious clues that would get the gameto that point, because the trial itselfwas her goal, not making her classmates despair or suffer. The trial is part ofthe show, and the show is everything to her. It’s the most exciting, climatic, popular part of the entire killing game broadcast. It’s the reason people reliedon Danganronpa, on the killing game broadcast, and she wanted to put on that show, and was willing to do anything andeverything, and break any and every rule in order to do it.
The reason why she’s so terrifyingly effective as anantagonist is not because she’s a super analytical, super infallible force ofnature like Junko. Tsumugi can be wrong about things, is often blindsided orcaught off guard by developments she didn’t foresee. She’s very, veryintelligent, but she’s not Junko or Kamukura or Ouma levels of intelligent. Herintelligence is very human. But what’s terrifying is that she doesn’t need tobe right about everything or able to predict everything, because she “weaves” a new fiction and a new web oflies at every single turn.
It doesn’t matter if she didn’t see certain things coming, because she knows that within this world which is essentially an unopenedcatbox to the rest of the characters, there’s no way for them to prove that she’swrong. Not objectively, about everything. If they catch her off guard and takeher plans in a new direction that she didn’t see coming, she just takes creditfor it anyway. They’re all just “scenarios” she can put to use and utilize tomake sure that DR and the killing game broadcast continue.
While her words and claims have left a lot of peopleconfused on how much can be trusted, the more I pored over the Chapter 6 trial, the easier I found it to tell when she was lying on at least a few points. Herclaims about Ouma as a “pawn of the mastermind,” for instance, have left manypeople wondering if this was actually true or if it’s just a bluff—and I cansay with relative certainty that it’s the latter.
Ouma’s stunt with the Exisal and all the things he pulledbehind her back and all the ways in which he got in her way were not supposed to happen according to heroriginal scenarios. He was supposed to be compliant, easy-to-manipulate, and alittle puppet on strings for her to shape up into the real mastermind, becauseshe felt his character would have “matched” with Junko’s so well. So when thecharacters begin realizing things about not only her being the mastermind, butabout the truth of the world around them and their memories being implanted, she rolls with it. She retcons his role. She lies her ass off, basically, because that’s her element.
The wording she uses specifically, rather than “pawn of themastermind,” is more along the lines of “he was a blind devotee to a god.” Sheeven says all of this as Junko, still perfectly in character; the rest of thecast by this point were not anywhere near realizing that the world wasfictional or that they were in an actual reality show broadcast. She’s not evensaying this as a producer of the show; she’s saying this from a role in whichshe’s written Junko to be “the realone,” and she was just posing as “Tsumugi, the fake character,” hiding among the cast and pulling strings “just like shedid with the Hope’s Peak killing game.”
Her lines about Ouma are specifically said whilein-character as Junko, who is “like a god of despair” and a force of nature whoshook the entire world. And that makes it surprisingly easy to see that this isa revisionary tactic made to get back at Ouma, precisely because Saihara andthe rest were pointing out just how much he’d gotten in her way. He ruined aperfectly good fictional scenario she had planned, from her perspective, so shegets back at him by revising him and claiming his character was “just areligious acolyte” all along and that he was a “huge fanboy who had Junko ashis idol.” And all of this is so blatantly untrue because Ouma had no ideaabout Junko, or about the Hope’s Peak memories from the remember light. This isliterally just Tsumugi being simultaneously petty and brilliant at revising her own story, and I love it.
There’s at least a few other of these similar points whereit’s pretty easy to tell that she’s lying, in my opinion. One of them revolvesMomota and Maki, and I’m going to save that for a later explanation, becausethere are a few questions about the Momota and Maki relationship in my inboxcurrently. But there are other points in the trial where she switches fromrelatively believable explanations which fit with the objective proof we gotfrom characters like Amami or Ouma, to taking credit for anything andeverything, almost desperately, and those are the points that strike me as theweakest in her claims.
The state of the outside world is just one example. When therest of the characters reflect briefly on how they saw the scene of itdestroyed and horrific with their own two eyes, Tsumugi happily claims that itwas all a “set” prepared by the killing game staff, a perfect imitationachieved by her talent. But when the group immediately rebounds, thinking thatat least if the world is fine and peaceful then that means they actually havepeople and places to go back to, she really, really starts revising her story. She absolutely latches onto trying to prove that they’re “just fictional,” that“all the people and places they remember are fictional,” that they “havenowhere to go back to.”
It’s because to Tsumugi, the last thing she wants is themopening her catbox. With her fictional world exactly the way it is, she can sayanything and have it be considered true—because there’s no way to proveotherwise. It’s the perfect set-up for writing millions and millions offictional scenarios, as opposed to “a single unchanging truth.” But the momentthe group thinks about wanting to get out, wanting to see the outside world forthemselves, that means the catbox ceases to exist, all the fictional scenariosfade, and only the truth remains. If there weren’t very obvious flaws in herstory or things that would immediately come to light and be proven when thegroup got to the outside world and checked, then she wouldn’t try so hard to crush their willpower and getthem to accept staying in the killing game instead.
The things she targets (their friends, their families, theirloved ones, their homes, their emotions and feelings) by saying that they’reall fake, fictional, that they never existed in real life, are all the thingsthat really, truly take away their will to investigate or go on. Knowing thatthey weren’t actually Hope’s Peak Academy students or that they didn’t haveSHSL talents shocked them, sure, but once they got over the initial shock, theywere all sort of back to being excited about the prospect that they had a home. That there might be somewhere for them to go.
Tsumugi immediately noticed that, and pinpointed the thingsinstead that might give them willpower or strength to go on, by claiming all of it was fiction, all of it was her doing. These claimsare so large, so over the top, and it’s precisely why it’s easier for me tothink of it as a lie than her other claims, which actually matched perfectlywith evidence provided from Ouma’s or Amami’s labs, or things other charactershad said or done. If there weren’t actually some real life counterparts orsimilarities with their memories that would give them incentive to end thekilling game, there wouldn’t have been any reason for Tsumugi to have targetedthose things so hard and sospecifically in order to try and keep them from wanting to go out.
Tsumugi is a character who thrives on the fictional in orderto “elevate” it to the level of reality. Fiction is her everything; it’sreality that’s meaningless. As long as she can continue creating new scenarios, new lies, new works of fiction to counteract boring, bland, meaninglessreality, she has her niche, and that itself is her meaning to go on. Butwithout that…there’s nothing. Once it’s all stripped away, she literally wouldrather go straight to her death, because “there’s no point in a world withoutDanganronpa.” There’s no point in a world in which she can’t keep creatinginfinite new fictional scenarios and seeing the same grand climax unfold againand again.
This itself is a terrifyingidea for an antagonist, and I love it. She was absolutely astounding from startto finish in Chapter 6, and watching her come slowly to the forefront, puttingon a spectacular act, and ultimately blasting both the characters’ and the players’subversions out of the water because her objectives were so different fromanything that previous antagonists have done, was so much fun.
The only way to fight against her, an antagonist who thriveson lies and presents them as “truth” because there’s no way to disprove her, isto come up with your own lies, and to accept them as your own reality. Just asthere was no way for the other characters to objectively disprove Tsumugi’s “truths”about the outside world, there was no way for her, in the end, to disprove their“truths,” that their lives had real meaning and that the experiences they wentthrough were very real for them. Once again, the Umineko resemblance was verystrong, and I loved every bit of it.
Tsumugi is always going to be a hard-to-read antagonist, because her entire character wanted to stay in that catbox forever, and shepreferred dying willingly to being dragged out into “the truth.” There’s no wayto ever eliminate doubt and suspicion over all her words. But I think inkeeping with the themes of ndrv3 overall, it’s a safe bet that there are plentyof lies and truths in the things shesaid, because that’s the way it’s been with her every step of the way, and withpretty much every other character in the game besides.
I’ve seen many people so far trying to determine whetherJunko or Tsumugi was “better” or “more effective” as an antagonist, but I haveto say, I think it’s a lost cause. It’s like comparing apples to oranges. Bothof them have different mindsets, goals, processes. Both of them are terrifyingand incredibly well-written in their own right, and I think Tsumugi will get somuch more recognition and appreciation from the fanbase once the English localizationcomes out and people can appreciate in full just how much of a terrifically fun, lying asshole she really is.

SCANDAL!
Somehow i just wondering why people really think they can tell me story, a big one (menurut gue doang big, soalnya gue belom sampe fase itu wkwk). I never ask them to speak because i basically not so in love with secret, tapi ya ndapapa, i guess everyone needs to be heard. They speak up, i do my job: listening - dont ask - dont judge.
So my friends are moving forward to their big part of life: confusing, make a decision, take action, be happy or confused again or suddenly hurt because it doesnt work and HERE I AM: Still live in my lovely nangor and find another great culinary, find another new ice cream corner, find bukit yancay, find another place to get into. And of course: FIND ANOTHER SERIES TO WATCH. Im so in love with myself! Wkwk (pathetic? no!)
  SCANDAL
Kali pertama ketemu scandal itu pas lagi di perpus. Skripsian. Tapi ya udah pasti lah, kalo di perpus, pasti ketemu banyaque orang lantas ngobrol sana sini, skripsi sehalaman, ngobrol setengah jam. Krik.
They play victim, they play role as the one who need to struggle, who need to defence their self. Nah ini baru pathetic.
Di belakangnya, ternyata ada pemikir-pemikir handal, ahli komunikasi, ninja public relations officer, yang jago banget nge-twist berita apapun. People need story, they made it.
Gue merekomendasikan dia film-film soal framing, management crisis, etc. Dia juga merekomendasikan gue nonton series SCANDAL
Nah itulah kali pertama kenalan ama SCANDAL. Cupu banget emang. 2017 baru pertama denger series itu padahal series pertamanya rilis tahun 2012. Hmmmm
Sesungguhnya, dian bukanlah tipikal manusia penggemar series (apapun, mau hollywood, korea, apalagi turki dan india wkwk), karena capek ngikutinnya, lama coi.
Tapi gue ga sesuci itu haha. Gue tetep nonton beberapa series hollywood macem Mr. Robot, Touch, Sherlock.
jadi intinya? gatau gue ga nyuruh kalian nonton sih, kalo mau nonton sok weh, jangan lupa filter sendiri.
if u watch and feel the same way, call me, we can talk for hours! wkwkwk
(gajelas lo yan)
(dih bodo amat, daripada jadi banjir spoiler)
(fyi draft ini dibuat saat baru nonton season 1, sekarang lagi nonton season 2, masih logis sih tapi…. kok hamba agak capek ya nontonnya, banyakan intriknya daripada ilmunya wkwk. Namanya juga series, makin banyak angkanya biasanya makin kemana-mana)
(pas nonton s2e3, judul hunting season, gue langsung kebayang ama film snowden, siapa nih yang terinspirasi, i did a litle fact finding and… scandal rilis lebih dulu dari pengakuannya snowden. Hmmm)
(I love the way they speak, Olivia pope and associates. Their bond. Their past that make their bond’s getting stronger. Their passion to fix something. i just love em)

Georgi, the 3rd Yuri - Part 3
DISCLAIMER: This is a long meta. I wrote this along with a friend and we spent pretty much a week analyzing a lot of stuff, from the anime scenes to interviews and even song lyrics. There’s a ton of text, many links and it can get kind of pretty image heavy in some parts.
To help with this, and for organization’s sake, we divided this meta in 4 parts.
Part 1 - Georgi, the Chekhov’s Gunman and 3rd Yuri in Yuri!!! On Ice
Part 2 - Georgi, Victor, and The Sleeping Beauty
Part 3 - The types of love and Victor’s long hair
Part 4 - The romantic songs and Victor’s first love
The types of love and Victor’s long hair
Eros, Agape, Philia, Storge... We all know that the Greek are responsible for many ways of thinking and questioning society, so it’s not surprising that they developed an analisys over something as abstract as love.
One of our biggest mistakes is to think that love englobes all kinds of affection. Recognizing that there are many faces for this feeling makes it easier for us not to get dissapointed in life but also makes it easier to understand Yuri!!! On Ice.
We wouldn’t have so many details, so many stories, come they or not from the protagonists, if the narrative wasn’t trying to tell us something. And it’s so obvious that it throws at our faces - or, better, at Yuuri and Yurio’s faces - two of the types of love: Agape and Eros. This chase of Yurio’s for unconditional and selfless love wouldn’t be so important if it wasn’t valid for the plot, and neither would’ve Yuuri’s quest to find his Eros if it wasn’t applicable to the narrative and for his future (or even a canon past that we still don’t have).
Let’s take a closer look at those definitions of love?
Starting with Agape, that looks so simple and easy, but needed so much effort for Yuri Plisetsky not to understand, but to accept it. For him, it’s hardd to bring out the essence of this feeling during the interpretation of his short program and, when he can find it in the memory of his loved grandpa, he loses himself in the middle of his performance. Why is it so painful to accept Agape, Yurio?
Tumblr media
We’re taken to believe that since he was very small, his life was surrounded by responsabilities that shouldn’t belong to a child. To go far away from his family, from his mother - and later from his grandpa - to dedicate himself to the ungrateful figure skating career. Even though it’s so beaufiful to watch, we all know how this world has their favorites and how short an athlete’s life is on the competitive area.
Your career is short and you need to take the maximum that you can from it; any mistake can mark you, the favorites outshine you, the sponsors pick carefully who’s worthy of their investments and, desperately, Yurio wants to bring the judge’s and world’s attention to himself. So much focus on this harsh world made him harden; if he accepts so easily love and its weaknesses, he fears not being able to go forward. Plisestky doesn’t like to feel weak, doesn’t like losing. Each medal he doesn’t win, each place lower in the podium is like having his record stained. How can someone so young get lost in so much fear?
Tumblr media
And this quest for the denied Agape is hard, but rewarding. Yurio recognizes with time that he always had selfless love close to him. He has the love and support of his beloved grandpa, the trust of his coach, Yuuko’s friendship, the reception of the Katsuki family during his stay in Japan, the newly discovered friendship with Otabek... And all of this love and affection given to him without the need to receive anything back made him discover the best of himself. After so much time seeing love as a weakness, the feeling is now the origin of his strength: Agape was found.
But if this love is selfless and considered the purest side of the feeling, Eros is its total opposite. Does it mean that it’s bad? No, it only means that it isn’t eternal.
If for Yurio recognizing Agape in his life was a problem, imagine it for Yuuri, who’s a man so modest and emotionally blocked, to accept the desire he kept inside? To have these two Yuris skating to such contrasting feelings makes it look like, at first, as a proposal because they have nothing in common with them, however, they don’t want to admit that they have inside them those versions of love, since, as the Greek says, we all have all of them inside us.
And we can clearly see Yuuri’s wish to be desired when he decides to explore for himself, when he decides to incorporate a seductive woman, since he can’t bring out the playboy at the moment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Insinuating, seductive... Yuuri knows who he wants to get to, knows who he wants to seduce. Victor’s the worlds most desired single, his friend Nishigori asks him if he can seduce Nikiforov. Does he thinks so? No would be the obvious answer, but we see Yuuri wanting to try to prove the contrary, who wants to show his Eros and become an object of desire to conquer the Russian and to show the world that, yes, he’s capable of taking Victor away from the world - even though he never says this out loud.
It can be seen in his actions, in his skating... It’s a challenge to conquer his emotional, the anxiety and discomfort with his body, still, Yuuri does all of that. “I am Eros and Eros is me?” he asks. Yes, Katsudon, you exist in Eros and Eros exists in you. It’s okay to be a sinnamon roll, you’re doing a great job.
His intentions are clear; while part of him is embarrassed over so much skin exposed and feels invaded with the public displays of affection, Yuuri has lust enough to free his desires as he does a full pole dance performance, asks for Victor to keep his on him and only him, almost declares a cold war with the Russian public in the Rostelecom Cup when he shows them all the love he has to offer, plays with the judges, blows kisses, gets more and more audacious in his programs and, discretely, revealing not to be as closed to the touch as we imagined at first.
After all, if this was true, he wouldn’t have let Chris grope his butt when they met at the Cup Of China, and wouldn’t have shared with Giacometti his seductive performance made of drinks and almost no clothing.
He is the playboy of his story and he knows that. For this reason and because he’s embarrassed to bring this out, it’s easier for Yuuri to agree that “a seductive role is not for him”. Of course it is, playboy. You proved us enough already.
In this we enter one of Yuuri’s biggest challenges, that maybe confuses him about the depth of his feelings for Victor. We’re talking about Nikiforov, the living legend, his country’s pride, loved by the world, the best of a whole generation, desired single and star that’s printed in every poster all over all over Yuuri’s room. It’s almost a dream to have a man like this at your side, and even more to have him saying that he’s going to train you, bring out the best of yourself. And is it Victor that does it? Or is it Yuuri that, dazzled to have his childhood and teenagehood star at his side, starts to try to keep him close?
“I’m the only one that can satisfy Victor.”
Now look at his pretentiousness! He’s good and he knows that! He’s seductive, yes, maybe not with a sex appeal as explicit as Chris, but he does have his own Eros! To have Victor at your side, with his eyes only for you - as Yuuri challenges him -, that’s something to inflate anyone’s ego. Wouldn’t you be satisfied to have the world’s best figure skater’s gaze for you only? To be, even as the public calls for him, the center of attention?
Overwhelming, strong, sweeping, explosive... And ephemeral. Passion is like fire over straw, fast, intense, it dominates you completely and then, as fast as it comes, it goes away and leaves nothing behind to tell the story. Does it mean that nothing else will exist between Victor and Yuuri? No, it only means that what they have right now will end someday. And, while Eros is the biggest responsible for trying them together, if it goes away what’s left over the couple that almost doesn’t speak sincerely when they’re not skating?
Yuuri is the playboy of his tory and no one doesn’t even suspects it. But you remember what happens after the most desired woman in town is seduced, right?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Contrary to the transient love that is Eros, Philia is more lasting, and also more loved and praised by the Greek. Defined as the love between friends and the camaderie of brothers in arms, Philia is based mostly on loyalty; with the friends, with the job, with the country. It’s the love that commits itself, but that also lets it go if it’s better for the other party.
And who’s better to represent Philia if not Georgi Popovich?
Tumblr media
A sensitive soul, dedicated to his art and his sport, a diligent student that always listens to his coach’s orders and advices, loyal to his friend to the point of traveling with them to Moscow just to watch their performances and the other’s as well. This is Georgi, someone who incorporated Philia in his life - actually he is Philia in its purest essence.
Not only that but he is also one of the characters that talks the most about love during the course of the series; and, considering that he's also a Yuri, nothing more fair than to have him represent one of the Greek words for love. And, just as Yuuri has his own Eros that was denied for a long time, and Yurio searched for his own Agape despite the conflitant and painful feelings, Georgi also has Philia inside him, even though he - maybe - doesn’t know this completely.
During one of the interviews, Yuuri’s voice actor, Toshiyuki Toyonaga, says that he feels some Pathos in Georgi. Pathos, just like the words for love, is also Greek, associated with passion, excess, suffering, feeling and affectionate bonds. It is, as well, a method of rethoric and storytelling, used to instigate emotions from the audience with the use of passion, expressivity and metaphors.
Tumblr media
If this definition doesn’t match perfectly with Georgi’s profile please correct us.
It’s in this loyalty and passioun about eveything that surrounds him - his art, the way he expresses himself, his silent obedience over Yakov’s denial to join Victor when he asks them to come have dinner with him, in his observations and admiration of the other skaters during the Rostelecom Cup, that Georgi is Philia.
And Philia can evolve and become something bigger: Storge.
If Philia is the friendship’s love, Storge is the family’s. Here we don’t talk only about blood, but also about the families that we cultivate with the bonds of destiny, of friendships that are lasting, that shape and change your life. After all, it’s not always the blood family that we have present, or maybe they don’t always help us - it’s not uncommon to see people that, alone, build their own families with no blood ties.
People like Victor Nikiforov.
Tumblr media
We don’t know Victor’s blood family, but he doesn’t seem to be close to them. We know that Victor’s solitary, that he dedicated over 20 years - his whole life - to figure skating, that he spent more time on ice than anything else.
Curiously, however, it is exactly because of skating that Victor creates bonds, and these bonds are now his real family. And isn’t this one of the main points of his character development over the course of the anime? To go from a solitary star at the top of the world to be now someone happy, loved, with a life and surrounded by people with strong, lasting bonds that he can call family?
His respect for Yakov, his relationship with Yuuri, his friendship with Chris, his fondness for Yurio... And, why not, a bond with Georgi as well? After all, both are Russian, are at the same age range, it’s even said in Georgi’s official profile that he’s Victor’s rinkmate. Considering their ages, it wouldn’t be surprising to see that they know each other for a long time now and that they shared many moments together for many years...
Including when Victor was the Lilac Fairy and had long hair.
Tumblr media
Ah, Victor Nikiforov with long hair... The few scenes we got with Vitya with this haircut served as fuel for so many breathtaking fanarts, beautiful crossovers, delightful headcanons and even photoshop over the original screencaps, reimagining the story with Victor still showing his long locks. This platinated Rapunzel causes us all a strange fascination, and we don’t even know the reason why. Or maybe this is what the producers wants us to think.
Why so many scenes, so many flashbacks reminding the spectator of this past? It’s not just to settle the story... It would be way cheaper to just have the characters telling us instead of animating them all, taking money and minutes from the episodes. They’re not there to make the anime longer or fill random holes, they are necessary, especially each and every one of them that contains at least a bit of Victor’s past. We may not know all we want about his life, but these hints are extremely important! In then we have the similarities between young Victor’s apparitions.
Tumblr media
He looks realized, happy. In the image above Victor doesn’t carry the weight of his career yet, even thought it’s been some time that he’s skating already. How does the happy face above turns into the evident sadness shown in the Victor that we know now? When did the ice stopped to make him happy? Or was it something else?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What are those ten years hiding from us?
Tumblr media
Right at the first seconds of the first episode, in the first step of Yuuri’s story, Victor appears at the rink, a common point of interest between the two skaters, performing his choreography of Stay Close To Me in the most absolute silence. And, between light and shadow, Victor goes from his younghood - with long hair - to adulthood - with short hair - right before Yuuri’s eyes, simbolizing all the life that Yuuri spent admiring his idol.
However, it’s not only Yuuri’s admiration that we can see in this situation. Don’t forget that Yuuri wasn’t the only one that watched him grow, it was the whole world. The whole world could see his evolution on the ice, could witness his changes, even though no one knows at what point he matured enough to pass the blades through his hair. Even though the exact moment is still a secret, in this scene we can see - or not - when this happened: in the shadows. Who also lives in the shadows?
Not only this haircut may be related to Georgi or it can be a secret between them, and that’s why it’s “hidden”. And this secret relationship confirms itself in the free skate songs: Stay Close To Me and A Tales of Sleeping Prince (with a big participation of Serenade For Two - yes, Michele’s song).
Continued in the next post. (x)

Darkly Dreaming Dexter (2004) – Jeff Lindsay
Darkly Dreaming Dexter is the first book on a series of eight teling the storie from Dexter Morgan. Dexter is a normal guy, living a normal life, working in a normal job in the sunny Miami. Everything wold be normal if Dexter didn’t hide a secret: he don’t have feelings for nobody and a past trauma criate a shadow who follows him and want just one thing: kill. Teaching by his father (a respected cop), Dexter starts to kill serial killers or bad guys that the cop couldn’t arrest.
The most interresting part of the book definitly is Dexter’s personality, even he doesn’t have feelings and real connections whit his “friends”, Dexter is loyal to them and all the problems he has is because he tries to protect his “friends”. Dexter mocking whith us and use sarcasm to deal with his “friends” and try to deal with social convention. During his conversation whit us, the readers, Dexter Always calls for atention and, mostly, he wants that we love him and cheer for him. It’s a great analisys for the human behavior and what makes the people like us.
Even if you aren’t a book warm, Dexter will hooked you after a ffew pages.
