Loving the unlovable
Believers already hold the key to overcoming worldly strife. As believers, we know that the commandment we have been charged with is simply to love. It sounds so simple, and yet when we consider the state of the world and the social environment in which we live, we see what appear to be unlovable people everywhere. There is rumor and inuendo prevalent through personal social media, criticism and…

Submission to Authorities
1 Let every soul be subject to the superior authorities. For there is no authority except from God. And the existing authority is ordained by God.
2 Therefore, whoever resists that authority, resists the ordinance of God. And those who resist, shall receive condemnation upon themselves.
3 For rulers are not to be feared for good works, but for evil. Do you, then, wish to be without fear of authority? Do well, and you shall have of the same.
4 For he is the minister of God for your good. But if you do evil, fear. For he does not bear the sword for nothing. For he is the minister of God to take vengeance on evildoers.
5 Therefore, you must be in subjection, not only because of wrath, but also for conscience’ sake.
6 For because of this you also pay tribute. For they are God’s ministers, persisting continually in this very thing.
7 Therefore, give all their due - tribute to whom you owe tribute, custom to whom custom: fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.
8 Owe nothing to anyone, except to be loving one another. For the one who loves another has fulfilled the Law.
9 For these: ‘You shall not commit adultery, You shall not kill, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, You shall not covet’ - as well as any other commandment - are summed up in this saying, namely, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself’.
10 Love does no evil to his neighbor. Therefore, love is the fulfillment of the Law.
11 And this also we know (considering the season): that now is the time that we should arise from sleep. For our salvation is nearer now than when we believed it.
12 The night is past, and the day is at hand. Let us therefore cast away the works of darkness. And let us put on the armor of light,
13 so that we walk honestly (as in the day), not in gluttony and drunkenness, nor in promiscuity and lewdness, nor in strife and envying.
14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ. And take no thought for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts of it. — Romans 13 | Revised Geneva Translation (RGT) The Revised Geneva Translation of the Holy Bible; © 2019 by Five Talents Audio. Love for Others (Romans 13:8-14)
All people are created in the image of God and, therefore, deserve the dignity of conversation and relationship rather than being looked at as a “project” or overlooked just because they are different or don’t fit in.
Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law. The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”Love does no harm to a neighbor.…

The Morning Devotional: WCF 23.3 (Part Two)
The Morning Devotional for August 10, 2023 The Westminster Confession of Faith 23.3 (Part Two) III. Civil magistrates may not assume to themselves the administration of the Word and sacraments; or the power of the keys of the kingdom of heaven; or, in the least, interfere in matters of faith. On Romans 13: Submission & Government
Romans thirteen is inevitably the first passage that Christian peacemakers need to contend with. Often it’s used as grounds to prove that Christians can set aside the teachings of Jesus in service of their country. But I believe Christians, having been heavily influenced by Augustine and his subsequent theologians, have made catastrophic errors in interpreting Paul’s writings by disconnecting…

ROMANS S.O.A.P. ~ CHAPTER 13
Tuesday, 2/7/23
My OCD is Oh-So-Happy - we finish Romans this Friday and begin something else on Monday... any suggestions on where we ought to schlep next?
SCRIPTURE:
Owe nothing to anyone—except for your obligation to love one another. If you love your neighbor, you will fulfill the requirements of God’s law.   ~ Romans 13:8
Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfills the requirements of God’s law.   ~ Romans 13:10
OBSERVATION:
Combining these two verses gives: "If you do no wrong to your neighbor, you will fulfill the requirements of God's law..."
From what I can find, verse 10 looks like a continuation of what Paul started in his letter to the Corinthians - ("Love is patient, love is kind...")
Love God first - do Him no wrong... don't abuse His forgiveness given through and by Jesus...
Love others -  that will fulfill - "repay my debt" -  what I owe - Him for all He has given, is giving, and will give, me...
...especially His gift of grace through Jesus...
...and love is not a one-time payment, but a lifetime, day-by-day, hour-by-hour, heartbeat-by-heartbeat "payment..."
...but the "interest" accrues to my "account..."
APPLICATION:
Love - and fulfill the requirements of God's law...
Do no wrong to others - in thought, word, or action - and fulfill the requirements of God's law...
Remember how Jesus "defined" who my neighbors are...
PRAYER:
Patient, kind, forgiving Heavenly Father God - forgive my unloving thoughts and words and actions - my unthinking and selfish reactions to what goes on around - than You for Your Holy Spirit's presence reminding me that everything is and should be about You and giving You the glory for the blessings of grace given through Jesus's surrendering His will to Your will - to showing ultimate love for me, His "neighbor..." In His Name, Father, and for Your honor and worshipful praise in all things at all times...
As always, y'all's always, in all ways - lovingly - because of Him...

Democrat's two-point list was democracy and abortion. God also has a list – we should have made his list first in our thinking and not last. Read detail.

Actively loving our neighbors
Actively loving our neighbors
A compassionate heart cannot remain inactive when becoming aware of real needs. The commandments, Do not commit adultery; do not murder; do not steal; do not covet; and any other commandment, are summed up by this commandment: Love your neighbor as yourself. Love does no…

Good Citizenship
Be a Good Citizen Be a good citizen. All governments are under God. Insofar as there is peace and order, it’s God’s order. So, live responsibly as a citizen. If you’re irresponsible to the state, then you’re irresponsible with God, and God will hold you responsible. Duly constituted authorities are only a threat if you’re trying to get by with something. Decent citizens should have nothing to…
