ahhh angel, you’ve been missed!! i’m glad to see somewhat of an update from you! also, did i read that right, you’ve been dragged into kpop? because honestly same, well almost.

i was in love with kpop a few years ago, but fell out of it because the groups i was into either disbanded, or some members left which changed the group dynamic entirely. though recently i came across txt, took one look at choi yeonjun’s face, and now he’s all my mind can think about. but it’s been quite fun reverting back to my kpop days tbh, it gives me a boost of serotonin that i can’t get anywhere else. not even through anime + manga.

sorry about that ramble!! just know that diving into kpop is such a trip!! and if you ever feel like too much of a newbie i’d be glad to help you navigate through it. anyways, are there any groups you’re currently into in particular? because i’d love to hear about them!

also maybe it’s just me, but my interest in animanga has slightly waned now that i got back into kpop. i’m in my mid-20s and accepting the fact that i just can’t pour energy into multiple interests simultaneously anymore,,,,

I used to be a kpop fan when I was like 10-13ish? so 2nd gen will forever have a special place in my heart, but I’m literally the exact same! Sebastian got home from another long day at a film set and went straight to his shower to relieve himself of some tension that was building up in his shoulders. The hot water running along his neck, shoulders, and back always makes him feel calmer.

When he's done and dried off, he slips into a pair of joggers and an old t-shirt before walking to his kitchen and grabbing some dinner he prepped earlier this week.

With a sigh, he sits on the couch and eats his dinner while watching a Netflix show that's been on his watch list for too long, but he can't seem to focus on it, so he starts scrolling through his social media instead.

When he's scrolling through Instagram, he suddenly sees some fan art he's tagged in, and his interest is immediately piqued, so he goes to check it out and sees that there is more on this website called 'Tumblr.'

This could be fun to check out, he thinks to himself, and he gets up to grab his laptop, ready to step into the world of Tumblr that is unfolding right in front of his very eyes.

The account is made quickly, and he looks up the account that he saw his earlier artwork on, and he quickly gets lost in all of their works, not only of himself and his characters but lots of other people and their characters.

After deciding to follow the account, he scrolls some more through Tumblr and suddenly spots a post called ''Advice from a stranger | Masterpost. His curiosity won this time, so he clicked on it.

He sees many links to different sorts of advice ranging from making friends and advice about love/relationships to how to find a job and everything in between.

After reading through some of them, he realizes the advice you give out is good, so he decides to give it a whirl and ask you for some as well, something pretty simple to begin with.

He makes a quick request and decides not to send it anonymously; there are tons of people with a similar username, so there's no use in that he decides.

Not even an hour later, he gets a notification that you have answered his advice, and once again, it's pretty good advice.

It started with more and more reblogs and comments under your advice, sometimes giving some of his own in response as well, and that turned into him helping you make up some advice now and again.

In the meantime, almost a year has passed, and Sebastian has gotten pretty close to you via private messages, though he never told you everything. Though you didn't mind, you devised a plan one day.

Y/U | You live in New York, right? I'm going there in a few weeks for a work trip! If you want to, I would like to meet up, and we can think of some advice in person if you're up for it.

Seb | Hm, I'd love to meet up; when will you be in New York? Because I'll be away for work soon!

Y/U | I'll be there in 3 weeks and staying for a week. Will you be available then?

After Sebastian confirms he is available that week, the two of you make all sorts of plans from where the two of you will meet, what you will do, and all that good stuff.

There's only one small problem: he knows what you look like, but you don't know it's the Sebastian Stan you've been talking to and getting to know all this time so that it will be a great surprise.

The two of you have openly talked about how you're such a big fan of his, and even though he felt weird about it, he quickly got used to it and even told you some secrets, not many people know.

You're in New York for your work trip, and the last few days are your free time, and you're meeting up with Sebastian today. The weather is very nice for the time of the year, and you've opted to wear a White and blue striped sundress combined with white sneakers.

Sebastian told you about a coffee shop near Central Park, so that's where you're waiting, your laptop safely in your backpack, a steaming cup of tea in front of you as you wait for Sebastian. You told him you would be there earlier and sent him a photo so he knew how to look for it, and his heart skipped a few beats as he saw the picture.

He opted for a floral shirt, leather jacket, and dark jeans to stand out only a little. He doesn't like that, but he spends an extra few minutes in front of the mirror to ensure everything looks perfect for you.

So now you're waiting for a mystery man, all you know is his name and that he's good at giving advice, but other than that, you won't know who you're waiting for.

Suddenly you're pulled from your thoughts as the bell of the coffee shop rings, and none other than Sebastian Stan walks through it. Your jaw drops slightly, and you feel yourself staring at your celebrity crush.

What are the odds that he would be in the same coffee shop as you?! Well, those odds are more significant than you could ever have thought because he's walking over to you with a smile.

''Y/N?'' he asks, and you feel like you're in a dream. One where he knows you exist, but that's when the realization hits you. You've been talking to your celebrity crush for almost a year and never knew.

''S-Sebastian?'' you ask as you get up, unsure if you should hug him or shake his hand, but he spreads his arms to pull you in for a hug, which you gladly accept.

''I-I can't believe it! I've been talking to you this entire time. I have given you advice... On multiple occasions... This feels unreal,'' you say with a nervous chuckle, but he tells you it's all true. It's been him this entire time.

The two of you sit down, and after you've gotten over your initial shock, you hit it off and spend a few hours in the coffee shop talking and writing advice until you have to leave for a dinner reservation with your colleagues.

''I know I'm not exactly in the position to ask for favors, but could you do me a small one by taking a selfie together?'' you ask, and Sebastian agrees.

When you leave the shop, he goes with you and walks you to the restaurant for your dinner reservation, which is pretty close, and when you finally say goodbye, you give each other a big hug.

Sometimes, the universe rewards good behavior, and that is nothing short of true for you.

In tiktoks about Tony, you won't ever find this much comments about Steve to the point where it's spam. But almost all the ones about Cap, the comment section is flooded with hate for Steve.

And all the pro-Tony/anti-Steve bugs that came out of the woodwork for my last post about this? THIS is why discourse is needed and nuanced discussions about the mischaracterization of characters to the point where yall are doing this on posts that aren't even about Tony.

Steve fans will have discourse about the different elements of his character, admit his flaws, and KEEP it to ao3 or tumblr or wherever the discourse is happening.

Tony stans will go out of their way to tell the whole world how much they love Tony and hate Steve and they'll do it wherever and whenever they can. That's the difference between Steve fans and Tony stans (and I use stans for Tony because yall are bordering on cult behaviour.)

i don't block anyone for a reason, and this was the reason why i have done to u. spreading false information that quirrrky and i were harassing fellow stans is disappointing and disgusting.

as we ALWAYS put who are the moderators of the event. it's been quirrrky and i since 2021. i don't know where u get that information of the said acct was a host too. i just assumed u did ur research bc u have never spoke abt the event again and never apologized to us for spreading false information

as a matter of fact, i reached out to both parties involved in the said issue. i went in-between to hear both sides and what happened. even went lengths of asking native speakers to help me translate the statement to help me further understand. i was in conversation w them until everything was settled.

jsyk i am a naruhina stan, kunoichi stan and a sarada stan. hence my other handle, saradesuchiha. i do not support any character and/or ship bashing. i do not tolerate any harassment towards anyone. i always tell everyone to be respectful and treat ppl w kindness bc u don't know how much one person is going through

i'm very open abt creating a safe space for anyone to enjoy naruhina. we have naruhinamain dedicated to celebrate the love of naruto and hinata. to extend, we have a discord server we fans are allowed to discuss and share their common interests.

this is my third year hosting naruhina month. just to anyone's knowledge, naruhina month is not hosted in december bc of it's connection w the release of movie, the last.

someone reached out to quirrrky late september of 2021 concerning if there would be naruhina this year. she took accountability on hosting on tumblr and i reached out to her extending it to twitter. we were pressed for time and in need atleast few months to be considerate of participants that is why it was pushed back til december.

the following year, we have plans to host different events for naruhina. it was nearing late october and yet no one has plans to host the event yet again. someone came forward to us asking if we will be hosting again, and quirrrky and i decided to push our plans ahead, hence, the first ever naruhina fair in 2022.

this year, we both have ideas for activities to encourage nh stans to express their love and creativity, as well as having fun making it. unfortunately, both quirrrky and i were really busy and focused on our time on our personal lives. we put the plans on hold and i complete understand what she's going through.

i opened the discussion in the naruhina discord if anyone would like to host this year. there are ppl who took interest but expressed that they couldn't commit to it. i was abt to close the discussion until ate born and chloe came forward to help me organize this year's event.

now someone on tumblr going as anon spreading rumors abt me being a fake nh fan. didn't know u have to box urself to stan only one ship/character to be a real stan. i have other interests too.

as a matter of fact, before i became actively participating in fandom. i met alot of hinata and sakura stans who were very nice to me and encouraged me to draw. i love being around ppl who are open-minded and supporting both women.

jsyk i left the fandom multiple times, being cyberbullied, ppl.mocking and discouraging my art and came bouncing back for ppl who encouraged me to do what i love.

ever since 2022, i limited my interaction w the fandom bc i was getting stressed how it's getting always heated w fanwars. i signed up to express my love and creativity for naruhina and have fun.

and just for anyone's knowledge, i do have a personal private acct but i have muted and blocked naruto and boruto from there so i can have peace of mind separate accts for fandom and real life current events. i rarely talked abt anime in there. it's mostly taylor swift and my shitty day to day life. u can ask few of my friends who are following me there.

it's getting long and i'm tired. i have to face reality that i cannot please anyone. my intentions of hosting events is for creators and fans to have a dedicated time to fully enjoy and support naruhina. this will be the last time i'm hosting naruhina month. i'm not forcing everyone to join in. this event is for naruhina stans. feel free to support it.

Well — I can’t believe it’s over. Moonlight Chicken was… I’ll get the words for it. Satisfying is the first one that comes to mind. And MC was my first beginning-to-end fandom on Tumblr. The big brains, the META, the psychological and cultural analyses! I’m a peon in a sea of passionate geniuses here. I love this community so much.

Where do we start. Moonlight Chicken, episode 8/finale thoughts and impressions. As usual, quick hits first, then the big thinks.

1) So much wonderful fan service. And I know that fan service can often take a show out, and when fan service is included in a script, I’m sure that at times, it makes directors and screenwriters grit their teeth. But I’m REALLY THANKFUL for all the fan service with all the couples, and yes, I’m including First and Khao here, because — come awn, the way these two almost OVERACTED their relaxedness at the bank and the food truck at the end, I was giggle-crying. Had we seen Alan smile any bigger at any other point in the show than at the food truck? THE SWAPPING OF THE CHAT IDs? THOSE CUTE LOOKS? KHAO’S little head shakes? THE TURN AFTER RECEIVING THAT MYSTERY CHAT? THANK YOU, AOFFFFF, thank yoooouuuu! Thank you for knowing exactly what you were doing for us and our ships, ha.

A dear anon recommended My School President to me, and I’m gonna definitely watch it, because I’m officially a GemFourth stan. More on this later, but I absolutely adored that their storyline took up a huge chunk of screentime. Besides the storyline interweaving beautifully with the major theme arcs of this last episode, their chemistry just could not be better. It’s been well documented how Fourth has been EATING his role, but Gemini, too! The TEXTS! The knowing looks! How much Gemini is able to communicate just by looking at Fourth. SO SATISFYING AND FULFILLING, GAAAHH.

And, and, and — forgive me for being sentimental. Because I’m still so new to this wonderful world of Aof’s work and Thai BLs, I didn’t have to wait as long as so many of y’all in the family for Earth and Mix to reunite in such a good script. But I was still feeling the nostalgia early in the series at seeing these two together, and I felt it so strongly in this episode. Jim FINALLY breaking out of his shell. Calling Wen his boyfriend. Leaning in to make a move (on the wonderful couch). Holding Wen’s hand and squeezing it in response to Wen. Gah. Too great.

Just, like….. how are these GMMTV couples SO GOOD? HOW ARE THEY SO GOOD TOGETHER? (Yes, not quite accurate to call AlanGaipa a couple, but shhhhh.) Anyway, sighs of happiness.

2) LENG. Gossipy. Luv u. Sneaky b.

3) I know we kinda despise her (and by “we,” I mean all of my inner children who want to grab these guilt-stricken, “what do I do nowwwww” whine-whine parents by the throat), but umm, Jam’s a 10! She cute! I liked her mall outfit, I cannot lie.

Jam came full circle. She admits to her shit. She figures out how to come thru in the most sensible way she can. I’ll offer more thoughts in a bit, but I’m actually a little glad that we didn’t get the rage scene that I so WANTED to see in episode 7. She’s ready to pony up for school. That’s the best way she can help, and I’m glad she was written as figuring that out.

What did I see happen to Jam? She leaned into the kind of parenting and family building that she could manage at this point in her life. What she was CAPABLE of, she did. She created a family table for ALL her family. To show that kind of blended family, eating all together, at peace, with a small child in their presence…. to have created a warm environment where Jim could finally, comfortably come out without judgement. She replicated the same table that Jim himself had created at his diner. She’s paying her dues back to BOTH her brother AND her son, both of whom she rejected and abandoned.

I have to hand it to Aof. My inner child’s heart is wrecked at this, but I have to hand it to him. He treats bad parents with compassion. ATOTS, Bad Buddy, and now here. He doesn’t blame bad parents for who they ARE — he instead skewers WHERE THEY CAME FROM, the culture from which these styles of parenting are borne. God, Aof. That’s not necessarily emotionally purging for Asian kids traumatized by the unexplored impact of filial piety. But it’s much more of a realistic artistic meditation, a FAIR one. I see what he did with Jam, and I ultimately have to appreciate it, even if I was dying for a rage episode. I appreciate that Aof, as an artist, will not succumb to base emotion simply because it’s the surface feeling. He will always dig and layer what ends up truly working as an emotionally balanced meditation.

4) Big themes. Once again — a return to the balance between old and new cultures and perspectives, and how us oldies get pulled along into the new age. But also, in this episode, we were reminded of what youngsters bring with THEM, from THEIR pasts, into their future.

This episode focused on Jim’s movement and Li Ming’s movement. Oh, my heart. I’ll start with Li Ming.

Li Ming is really a hero of mine — I think what he demonstrates for me is that youthful FEARLESSNESS towards change that we admire youngsters for so much — while us oldie parents are also worried about them, we fear for them, because we know that there are potholes and pitfalls when change can happen quickly and blindingly.

I think that's what Jim was referring to when he says to Jam that Li Ming helped him (Jim) find his maturity. That was at the core of the night talk that took place in episode 7. I think Jim saw, in Li Ming, what Jim *needed* to see in Li Ming to trust Li Ming with Li Ming's own growth. Jim needed to see that Li Ming could consider his options, and be more emotionally sophisticated and aware than Jim ever has been.

And, I think -- that helped Jim TRUST Li Ming. That wonderful short conversation between Li Ming and Jim, where Jim confirms with Li Ming that Jim is just *worried* about Li Ming, like a parent.

When Li Ming says, "love isn't that big of a deal." When Li Ming talks about other ways that life needs to be sustainable.

Li Ming KNOWS Jim, and knows HOW TO TALK TO JIM.

How brilliant is that, to see that in someone so young, just dominate you, an older person, by way of emotional knowledge and sophistication? Jim had no choice, in my read, but to trust Li Ming -- and, maybe, take some inspiration and take that sophistication, and internalize it, so that he (Jim) could begin to relax and find happiness as well.

5) The other story about Li Ming's movement is between him and Heart, and as I said before, I'm just totally sold on GeminiFourth as a pairing, because their dynamic was really perfect for the growth that needed to be demonstrated between the two of them.

HEART! We saw Heart shoot his shot, dang it! HEART! With his wanting a boyfriend, with his parents learning sign language, with PEOPLE AROUND HIM LEARNING HOW TO TALK TO HIM. On multiple levels, even if we didn't see all of it actively (like with Heart's parents), Heart made demands and shot his shots, just like Li Ming did with his own family.

GOOD GOD -- could Aof have used this motif more wonderfully, so EFFICIENTLY? Young people get shit done! No holds barred, they can bolt through their own obstacles, their own barriers, to get shit done. Young people aren't held down by the past, like some old uncles we know.

And yet. Young people CAN ALSO RESPECT THE PAST, AND BRING LONG-STANDING CULTURE WITH THEM -- as Heart and Li Ming showed at the temple, as Li Ming danced as a lion, bringing in the Lunar New Year (FULL CIRCLE from when the series premiered, y'all!) AND THAT'S GROWTH. That's how the world spins, that's how Pattaya spins -- a place caught in the middle between the old and the new, the historic and the modern. Just like Li Ming and Heart, they are always growing, always maturing, and fast, like young people do, before they get stagnant-ish and older-ish, like Uncle Jim.

6) And then we see the growth paradigm with Jim, as reflected in the mirror of Li Ming. We see Jim -- finally -- loosening up. We see Jim come out as paired up with Wen to his sister. We see them on a date, a romantic date on the beach. (Sure, Jim is still an old dad, complaining about the food or whatever, geez, Jim.)

We see him close the old place, and open a new place. We see that new place as a new and modern way to hold over the old culture -- khao man gai, outside, under the stars, the way it's supposed to be eaten in an equatorial country.

I'm borrowing the following screencap from @hummingbirdsinjune:

We see Jim, finally, reflecting. We see him reflecting on how people were able to move forward, people like Jam and Gaipa, while he reflected on how he was held back. We see him figuring out how he won't hold himself back, and won't LET HIMSELF BE HELD BACK, anymore. He cancels the lease to let go. He, finally, wants to be in control. He sells the car, one of his last links to Beam. And commits to moving forward in so many ways.

And he stays in Pattaya. So we know -- he's still going to be connected to the old ways, the historic culture, of Pattaya.

And when Wen choose to decline the job. When Wen -- AND JIM -- decide to build a home together. Home isn't anything modern. Home is HOME. Home is history. Home is building history together. Jim is both leaving things behind.... and leaving nothing behind. Because he's building all he needs in his life once more.

The building of home with Wen. That's what ultimately took me out about this episode.

7) I believe I finally got the khao man gai analogy to the show that I long wanted before the show premiered. As with Jam's table at her husband's house, when the guys were sitting and eating at the diner before the diner closed. Jim's family, Jim's community. How food brings everyone together. That was a presage, I think, for the home he was going to eventually build with Wen. Y'all know I wanted this, and I'm so glad I got it. Yay, chicken rice.

I'm totally going to have more thoughts over the next few days, but this is what I got for now. I'm so in debt to Aof as an Asian fan of his dramas for giving us such unbelievable commentary on culture and family. We are INCREDIBLY LUCKY to have this artist making these shows. They are so important to me as an Asian, as a lover of my culture and Asian cultures, as an Asian child and mother also struggling with the balance of old and new values and cultural rituals. Aof's shows teach me so much, about extra- and introspection, and Moonlight Chicken was absolutely no exception.

Reading your posts is the only source for me to be updated with the manga for 2-3 chapters now, seriously.

Quick question, do you by any chance have more asks the last months than before?

Because honestly what's been goin on in the manga is beyond words for me right now.

How can you sh*t out a character like bakugou and shove him down the throat of your audience in the most stupid ways? I honestly cannot wrap my head around it anymore.

I'm still interested in the Kurogiri plotline. I'm also a big Present Mic stan, so I'm trying to hold out....but since bakuhoe got the main character treatment again, i refuse to read another chapter as a whole until the rooftop trio appears again.

Have u been reading the BNHA Vigilante manga? What are your thoughts on it?

I’d say since Katsuki’s apology this account has gotten more popular 😂. The final arc was the final shit nugget to a cake made of shit and with this ending doing nearly everything wrong, more people have complaints they wanna air out.

Present Mic’s a dope character and I’m a bit interested in where Kurogiri’s plot’s gonna go.

Vigilantes does have a few issues, but as a whole, it’s far better than MHA. It’s the best way to experience any form of MHA that is canon.
