Macbeth
- Well, the bad news is the list of named plants is supershort:
- chesnuts
- primrose
- corn (not American corn, but old world grains (I think))
- rhubarb
- senna
Chestnuts would be a decent tree option, a cheap too if you can grow from either chestnuts (seeds) or hardwood cuttings. Primroses are a nice springtime flower, and could bring some yellow/white color. Corn/grains are also dead-easy to grow from seeds. Rhubarb is sold as bareroot plants in late winter/early spring in my area in superstores, and would be producing a crop in a few years if I’ve understood what I’ve seen on Gardener’s World about them. Senna is mentioned alongside rhubarb as a laxative/curative by Macbeth; I would advise holding off on growing it until you’ve done extensive research, both on how it might grow in your climate and if it might interact via contact with any of your medications.
As you can see, the pickings are pretty paltry BUT, the good news is that some scholars think that the famous witches’ spell (double bubble, and all that) contains several folk names for plants and herbal medicines. Using this site I’ve come up with some plants that would be suitable for a casual gardener’s Witches Brew Garden:
-Toad entrails = Toadflax,  Linaria vulgaris
-  Fillet of a fenny snake =  Yarrow,  Achillea millefolium; Bistort/Snakeroot,  Bistorta officinalis; Plantains/Fleaworts, Plantago genus (lots of common weeds fall under these names)
- Eye of newt = mustard seeds
- Toe of frog =  Bulbous buttercup,   Ranunculus bulbosus
- Wool of bat = holly leaves
- Tongue of dog =  Houndstounge,  Cynoglossum officinale
- Adder’s fork = Dog’s tooth violet,  Erythronium
-  Blind-worm’s sting = Poppies, Papaver somniferum
- Lizard’s leg = Ivy (choose one that that is not listed as invasive in your area)
- Scale of dragon = Tarragon,  Artemisia dracunculus (or  Tagetes lucida if you want to grow from seed)
-  Liver of blaspheming Jew (yikes) = Mugwort,  Artemisia vulgaris
-  Gall of Goat = Honeysuckle,  Lonicera sempervirens (or your areas natural honeysuckle species; definitely do not plant amur honeysuckle);  St. John’s Wort,  Hypericum perforatum
-  Slips of yew = Yew,  Taxus baccata (or local species)
-  Finger of birth-strangled babe = Cinqefoil, Potentilla genus
-  Tiger’s Chaudron = Lady’s mantle,  Alchemilla mollis
- Owlet’s wing = garlic or ginger
Personally, I have two plastic cauldrons that I am planning to use for some Macbeth gardens.

New oil added! One of the last new items before I take a break. Bittersweet Nightshade & Yarrow Oil Solanum dulcamara-Bittersweet Nightshade Alchemilla millefolium- Yarrow Bittersweet Nightshade is a saturnian herb. It has been used historically to protect both man and beast from a variety of threats and maladies. It is an herb that can be worked with for binding rituals, and those involving the underworld. Bittersweet nigthshade is a vining plant, often using other plants to support it, or growing along fences. This association with boundaries, and its other saturnian qualities are useful in strengthening the magic circle and other protective boundaries. This quality can also be used to hide rituals from view making them more discreet. Yarrow is a mercurial herb imparting strength and courage while protecting from harm It strengthens the aura, and heals and weak places. Yarrow keeps the aura flexible, keeping the bad out but allowing good in. It has been used in divination and other psychic pursuits for centuries. its scent heightens awareness, enhances intuition and focus. Use for psychic protection, creating boundaries and severing attachments. Apply to the temples and third eye before divination to aid concentration and block out unwanted influences. Both plants work to strengthen the aura and psychic defenses. #poisonpath #poisonousplants #poisonmedicine #poisonmagic #nightshaderitualoil #spelloil #magickoil #banefulherbs #venericium #greenwitchcraft #esotericherbalism #flyingointment #solanumdulcamara #bittersweetnightshade https://www.instagram.com/p/CNoT6NcHKMu/?igshid=1mqv8ypncbgn4

Tumblr media
This product contains 300 ml (10.1 oz) and has a slight peachy scent.
Tumblr media
This soothing gel comes in a nice large plastic tub.
Tumblr media
The gel is thick and clear like many other soothing gels.
Tumblr media
The gel is really smooth and instantly moisturizes and refreshes the skin.
Tumblr media
Once blended in, it leaves skin tacky and luminous.
Recommended use is to apply a sufficient amount on the dry areas of the face and body where instant moisturizing and soothing are needed. Then gently pat into skin to absorb. Reapply whenever you want a fresh boost of moisture. After using, I found this soothing gel to be pretty similar to most but very pleasant. There's a light peach scent to this gel and it dissipates quickly. It does a good job of hydrating and refreshing the skin and there are good ingredients. There are some irritants as well in the ingredient list. This product is very high quality and does a good job of toning the skin and adding extra hydration as I like to layer my skincare. This is great to apply after being out in the sun as it's quite cooling. I’d recommend this to anyone who likes to use soothing gels. It’s good for many skin types, but especially dry skin.
What I like: this soothing gel is very refreshing, hydrating, and moisturizing. It's very soothing and there are many good ingredients. It has a nice light peach scent that's not overly sweet. It's good at toning the skin and really helping to freshen up the complexion. There's lots of product so it does last a long time. What I don't like: nothing, it's a great product.
Pros:
Hydrating
Moisturizing
Refreshing
Nice ingredients
Soothing
Great for layering
A lot of product
Nice quality
Cons:
None
Would I buy again?
Yes
Rating: 9.5/10

Medieval Medicinal Herbs : Wound Herbs
Comfrey; Symphyrum officinallis. A Perennial, it  grows to a height of 600-900mm when in flower. Displaying a beautiful Blue flower, it will ramble across you garden. If allowed to it will become a rampant pest. We accept that it’s country of origin was China, and that it was traded down the “Silk Road” maybe as early as Roman times. Comfrey was most commonly used as a poultice or a herbal tea, for breaks, bruises, sprains, and internal hemorrhaging.   Young leaves can be added to a Medieval Salad, or fritters. It will thrive in most soil conditions, and is a valuable addition to any compost heap.
Lady’s Mantle; Alchemilla vulgaris. The French called it “Pied de Lion”.   A perennial – while this plant is small in stature at 300mm in height, it produces a ‘Major flower and plant of Alchemy’.  This herb is claimed by ‘Venus’ for all women, given that it benefits them most. It was widely used for its drying and binding virtues, and is an amazing wound herb. Known to help women who have overcome ‘Flagging breasts’, making them smaller and firmer, both when taken internally and applied externally. Again we see the application of a known Medieval herb, as a herbal tea, and an ointment, or poultice. One of the most endearing features of ‘Lady’s Mantle’ occurs when the dew alights upon it, staying for many hours in a most delicate way. This wonderful herb will grow in most soils and conditions, both in shade and full sun.
Yarrow; Achillea millefolium. Yarrow, with its botanical name,  is linked to one of legends’ greatest heroes. It is said of Achilles that he tended the wounds of his men.  Hence, most of its common names are linked back to war:  ‘Herbe  Militaris’; ‘Soldiers Woundwort’; and amusingly ‘Devil’s Plaything’.  During the Medieval period it was a herb connected with the casting out of witches, and at one time dedicated to the Devil. Having strong antiseptic qualities, this herb is good for the stomach, kidneys, skin and heart, and as a salve, external wounds. This herb was also known to the Chinese, in ancient times. With 49 Yarrow stalks being a form of divination, connected to I Ching, or Book of Changes.
A perennial herb, growing to a height of 600-900mm. That likes a generally rich moist soil, and loves the full sun.

To quickly note, I received this for a small fee from 0.8 Liter for my honest review, this post is not sponsored.
Tumblr media
The serum contains 100 ml (3.38 oz) and has a very luxurious kind of skincare scent.
Tumblr media
The spray naturally comes in a sturdy, plastic spray bottle with a very fine mister.
Tumblr media
The spray serum is very lightweight and watery.
Tumblr media
It is also slightly oily but it's not too intense.
Tumblr media
It leaves a smooth, hydrated finish.
Recommended use is immediately after cleansing your face, shake the product up and down 3-5 times to thoroughly mix the ingredients and then close your eyes. Hold the bottle 30 cm (about 12 inches) from the face and gently spray 4-5 times over the face and then gently pat skin to help absorption. After using, firstly, I found this to be a very nice and hygienic way to apply serum as it doesn't really come into the contact with the skin directly. The serum spray also has a nice scent that is noticeable but it does dissipate quickly. The ingredients in the serum are also very high quality and I feel like they're very nourishing and after applying it, it's very refreshing and hydrating and does brighten up and even the skin tone with each use. I'd recommend this to people with dull and dehydrated skin as well to people with oily/combo skin as it's not too heavy.
What I like: this serum is very beautiful, it has lovely ingredients and the mister is very handy and more hygienic in my opinion. The mist is also very fine for people who prefer that. There is a nice scent but it's does disappear relatively quickly. It's hydrating, refreshing, brightening and nourishing and will last a long time as there's a lot of product. What I don't like: nothing really.
Pros:
Hydrating
Refreshing
Brightening
Nourishing
Nice ingredients
Nice quality
Fine mister
Hygienic
Lovely scent
Cons:
None
Would I buy again?
Yes
Rating: 10/10

Kem Dưỡng Ẩm Primera Alpine Berry Watery Cream 50ml
Tumblr media

Alexandra Noble’s top 5 plants to boost mood and settle the mind
Alexandra Noble, designer of the RHS Health & Wellbeing Garden at RHS Hampton Court Flower Show, celebrates British Flower Week with some of her top choices of flowers that can boost mood and settle the mind.
The garden designed by Alexandra is one of five in the brand new RHS Lifestyle Gardens category and her garden focusses specifically on creating an oasis of calm for the visitor, with circular paths that promote meditation flanked with aromatic herbs which fill the air with calming scent.
Flowers, gardens and green spaces are increasingly being cited as helping make people happy. Simply the sight of flowers has been proven to lift the spirit but there are some flowers that will literally aid sleep, improve anxious thought patterns and lift mood.
Here are Alexandra Noble’s top five choices of British flowers that help health and wellbeing.
Yarrow – Achillea millefolium (Yarrow)
Yarrow works wonderfully in both the garden and in flower arrangements. It stands well and its flat heads are a great contrast to other flower shapes. As the flowers age they blush pink around the edges and their solidity works particularly well with the billowy fronds of fennel or zingy clouds of Alchemilla mollis (Lady’s Mantle). Yarrow is used as a sedative for anxiety and helps relieve high blood pressure.
Chives – Allium tuberosum
Chives look great planted along the edges of a border and their fluffy pom-pom heads making a great foil for other plants in arrangements. They also taste great and make a wonderful and extremely pretty garnish. Chives can aid sleep and memory retention and also help with depression by blocking a chemical that inhibits the production of the ‘happy’ hormones, serotonin and dopamine.
Peony
From Princesses to paupers, the Peony is one of Britain’s most loved blooms. Beautifully mesmerising to behold it also helps soothe our minds and heal our bodies with many parts of the plant having calming, cooling and sedating properties. The white peony is popular in Chinese medicine for easing anxiety and depression and is one of Chinese medicine’s oldest remedies.
Chamomile
This gentle and delicate flower is perfect for wildflower or ‘hedgerow’ style arrangements. It’s used for fighting anxiety and depression and acts as a mild sedative which calms nerves and reduces anxiety. Vapours from the flowers travel to the olfactory part of the brain which turns off tension and reduces the body’s stress response.
Rose
The national flower, the rose is a classic in any arrangement, whether it’s the plump, sumptuous heads of a cabbage rose, the spray of multi-stem varieties or as the classic single stem, they are without doubt one of the favourites. It is not just their beauty that earns them a place in this list though as the scent of a rose is uplifting and has been proven to alleviate depression and anxiety.

Water: Primarily used as a solvent in cosmetics and personal care products in which it dissolves many of the ingredients that impart skin benefits, such as conditioning agents and cleansing agents. Water also forms emulsions in which the oil and water components of the product are combined to form creams and lotions.
Dipropylene Glycol: Used as a solvent, it has also found use as a fragrance, masking agent and in controlling the viscosity of a formulation.
Butylene Glycol: Commonly-used ingredient that has multiple functions in cosmetics, including as a texture enhancer. It’s similar to propylene glycol, but has a lighter texture.
Glycerin: An emollient and humectant derived from vegetable oils that helps skin retain moisture.
Squalane: The saturated portion of emollient ingredient squalene, which is a natural component of human skin sebum (oil). It is a wonderfully moisturizing ingredient as well as being a source of replenishing fatty acids and antioxidants. Note that because it’s highly saturated, squalane is less prone to breaking down in the presence of air than less-saturated squalene.
Cyclopentasiloxane: Lightweight silicone with a silky, slippery feel that functions as a skin/hair conditioning agent.
Dimethicone: A type of silicone, forms a permeable barrier that works to prevent moisture loss and impart a wonderfully silky feel.
1,2-Hexanediol: A widely used humectant and coupling agent. It is especially useful when bonding silicone products and can be used at lower concentrations than many other coupling agents, therefore reducing its irritation likeliness.
Panthenol: Member of the B complex family of vitamins. A moisturizing humectant and emollient.
Triethylhexanoin: Used as a skin conditioning agent, emollient, anti-static agent, solvent, and fragrance ingredient.
Centella Asiatica Leaf Extract: Known as "the fountain of life,” a natural, herbal anti-inflammatory and wound healer. Mildly antibacterial, anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, anti-ulcerogenic, anxiolytic, a cerebral tonic, and circulatory stimulant. Strengthen the skin, boost antioxidants in wounds, and increase blood supply to the area. It's also thought to boost the production of type I collagen and myofibroblasts. Based on these findings, its been used topically for minor burns, psoriasis, prevention of scar formation following surgery, and prevention or reduction of stretch marks.
Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract: Grain extract; used to help soothe skin and improve skin's firmness.
Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract: Extracted from the flower of the plant; contains carotenoids and saponin. Used for its soothing and hydrating properties.
Nepeta Cataria Extract: Delays premature aging, treats acne, and speeds up the healing and repairing process of any wounds.
Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Leaf Extract: Extract of the raspberry fruit, helps fight free radicals, soothe and condition skin.
Baptisia Tinctoria Root Extract: Anti-inflammatory benefits, extract stimulates beta endorphin release and provides relief for sensitive skins.
Stellaria Media (Chickweed) Extract: Remedy to treat itchy skin conditions
Alchemilla Vulgaris Leaf Extract: Provides antioxidants and also has pore minimizing benefits; helps remove free radicals from skin.
Rosa Damascena Flower Extract: An aqueous solution of the steam distillate obtained fromthe flowers of Rosa damascena. Fragrance Ingredient. Skin conditioning.
Spiraea Ulmaria Flower Extract: Extract that can have skin-soothing properties. Helps control oiliness, tighten pores and clear skin.
Achillea Millefolium Flower Extract: Skin-soothing properties.
Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract: A naturally occurring form of salicylic acid, soothes irritation and helps prevent breakouts and congestion in the skin.
Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer: Texture Enhancer and Silicone
Silica: Used as an absorbent powder and thickening agent. Certain forms of silica can improve even distribution of pigments in cosmetics and prevents them from settling in makeup. Silica particles can enhance the absorption of other ingredients.
Hydrogenated Polyisobutene: A waterproofing emollient. Synthetic oil that is used as a mineral oil substitute. It is an  emollient & moisturizer, and prevents water loss. It's used for pigment dispersion in many cosmetic products and is a popular ingredient in sunscreens because it allows for SPF retention even after water exposure (like in waterproof sunscreens).
Glyceryl Stearate: It acts as a lubricant on the skin’s surface, which gives the skin a soft and smooth appearance. It easily penetrates the skin and slows the loss of water from the skin by forming a barrier on the skin’s surface. It has been shown to protect skin from free-radical damage as well. Used to stabilize products, decrease water evaporation, make products freeze-resistant, and keep them from forming surface crusts. Reduces the greasiness of oils used in certain cosmetics.
PEG-100 Stearate: An emollient, an emulsifier and a moisturizer, although PEG Stearates in general are also known to clean the skin and hair by helping water to mix with oil and dirt so that they can be rinsed away.
Hydrogenated Lecithin: Phospholipid found in egg yolks and plants. Widely used in cosmetics as an emollient and water-binding agent. Also has skin-restoring ability.
Polysorbate 60: A thickening agent and oily liquid used in cosmetics and skin care formulas "to dissolve in a solvent in which they would not normally dissolve. They also help to form emulsions by reducing the surface tension of the substances to be emulsified.” A surfactant created by reacting sorbitol with ethylene oxide and fatty acids obtained from vegetable fats and oils. It is used to disperse oil in water in formulas.
Carbomer: Group of synthetic texture enhancers used primarily to create gel-like formulations. High amounts of carbomers in a gel may result in the product rolling or balling up of cosmetic products on skin, but this phenomenon depends on other formulary steps taken to minimize this effect.
Tromethamine: A fragrance ingredient, buffering agent, and masking ingredient
Trisodium EDTA: A naturally-derived chelating agent.
Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil: Antioxidant, perfume and antifungal properties. Soothes and heals the skin.
Pelargonium Graveolens Flower OIl: Fragrant oil that can have beneficial properties, but also can be a skin sensitizer due to its volatile fragrance ingredients. Geranium extract is a very good antioxidant for skin, and the parts extracted are usually not fragrant, thus presenting minimal risk of sensitivity.
Citral: A colourless or pale, yellow liquid with a strong, fresh odour of lemon peel.
Limonene: Colorless liquid with a light, fresh, and sweet citrus odor used to make fragrances and flavors. It is naturally occurring substance found in many citrus fruits.
Geraniol: A colourless liquid; it has a sweet, rose-like odour, with a hint of citrus.
Linalool: Fragrant component of lavender and coriander that can be a potent skin sensitizer. Colorless liquid with a soft, sweet odor.
Caprylyl Trimethicone: A silicone that comes in the form of a clear liquid. This emollient is used to enhance the slip and reduce the tack in hair, skin care and makeup products. It offers a light and dry feel, and makes cosmetic solutions easy to spread over the face. It also functions as an effective wetting and dispersing agent. Has the ability to temporarily enhance the appearance of the face by filling in fine lines/wrinkles and giving an overall “plumped” look.
HDI/TriMethylol Hexyllactone Crosspolymer: Anticaking Agent
Sucrose Polystearate: Skin-Conditioning Agent
PCA Dimethicone: Hair Conditioning and Skin-Conditioning Agent
Cellulose: Primary fiber component of plants. Used in cosmetics as a thickening agent and to bind other ingredients together.
Ceramide NP: One of several types of ceramides, which are naturally occurring, long chains of lipids (fats) that are major components of skin’s outer layers. Research shows moisturizers containing ceramide NP can improve the look and feel of dry skin.
Viola Tricolor Extract: Extract for which there is a small amount of research showing it has skin-soothing and antioxidant properties.
Althaea Officinalis Root Extract: Althea Officinalis, or Marshmallow root, is high in starch and mucilagenous polysaccharides, which form a protective gel, along with flavonoids and anthocyanidins. This protective layer over the mucous membranes and skin effectively soothes irritation and relieves inflammation. The root of Marshmallow can promote tissue fluid generation and increase moisture in deficient skin conditions. Marshmallow is used in cosmetics for its soothing, moistening, and calming properties on the skin.
Symphytum Officinale Leaf Extract: Topical application of comfrey has skin-soothing properties, but it is recommended only for short-term use and only then if you can be sure the amount of pyrrolizidine alkaloids is less than 100 micrograms per application—something that is impossible to determine without sophisticated testing equipment—making comfrey an ingredient to avoid. The alkaloid content means it has the potential to aggravate skin.
Trifolium Pratense (Clover) Flower Extract: Can have antioxidant and skin-soothing properties.
Menyanthes Trifoliata Leaf Extract: Skin conditioning agent
PEG-10 Rapeseed Sterol: A blend of polyethylene glycol (PEG) and the fatty acid component of the rapeseed plant. Used as a surfactant and to help make products soluble. This ingredient may also be listed as PEG-10 phytosterol.
C14-22 Alcohols: Emulsion Stabilizer
C12-20 Alkyl Glucoside: Emulsifying Agent
Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer: A gelling agent that thickens, emulsifies, and stabilizes products and solutions. It is very easy to use in liquid form and provides a sensation of freshness followed by a melting effect on contact with the skin. It leaves a feeling of velvety softness
Hydroxyproline: An amino acid. Skin-Conditioning Agent
Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract: Extracted from the leaves of the plant; used for its toning and invigorating properties as well as for its refreshing fragrance. Detoxifies skin, leaving it smooth, soft, and clear.
Citronellol: A volatile fragrance chemical extracted from geranium, rose, and other plants, citronellol has a characteristic grassy, citrus-like scent. Applied to skin, it can cause aggravation when exposed to air. This exposure causes the unstable citronellol molecule to oxidize, which is believed to trigger aggravation on skin.
My Thoughts: I received a cool blue sample size jar in my Play! by Sephora February 2018 box. The eye cream has more of a gel texture with a herbal and earthy scent. The scent is light, once absorb its completely gone. I first started to use it morning and night. But I found at night I didn’t need to re apply it because the hydration lasted all day! I find it odd that Belif has a 26 hours claim, why not just say 24 hours? The extra 2 hours is just strange to me.
I apply Belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb to my upper and lower lid. The application is pretty easy as long as I don’t get it into my eyes. It glides onto the skin than I pat it into the skin so it can quickly be absorb. Every once in a while if I over apply on the lower lash it would get into eye and cause a bit of a burning sensation. Luckily it only last for a minute, so I never had to wash it out. To avoid getting it into my eye I don't apply it too close to the lash line. The natural skin warmth will seep it closer to the lash line on its own. Belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb is incredibly lightweight, I can wear it alone or under makeup. It never alters my makeup or creases it.
Would I purchase Belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb? Yes especially for the summer time, its lightweight and hydrates the eye area without feeling greasy.
