The Radium Girls: The Dark Story of America’s Shining Women by Kate Moore
The Curies’ newly discovered element of radium makes gleaming headlines across the nation as the fresh face of beauty, and wonder drug of the medical community. From body lotion to tonic water, the popular new element shines bright in the otherwise dark years of the First World War.
Meanwhile, hundreds of girls toil amidst the glowing dust of the radium-dial factories. The glittering chemical covers their bodies from head to toe; they light up the night like industrious fireflies. With such a coveted job, these “shining girls” are the luckiest alive—until they begin to fall mysteriously ill.
But the factories that once offered golden opportunities are now ignoring all claims of the gruesome side effects, and the women’s cries of corruption. And as the fatal poison of the radium takes hold, the brave shining girls find themselves embroiled in one of the biggest scandals of America’s early 20th century, and in a groundbreaking battle for workers’ rights that will echo for centuries to come.
The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner
A female apothecary secretly dispenses poisons to liberate women from the men who have wronged them – setting three lives across centuries on a collision course.
Rule #1: The poison must never be used to harm another woman.
Rule #2: The names of the murderer and her victim must be recorded in the apothecary’s register.
One cold February evening in 1791, at the back of a dark London alley in a hidden apothecary shop, Nella awaits her newest customer. Once a respected healer, Nella now uses her knowledge for a darker purpose – selling well-disguised poisons to desperate women who would kill to be free of the men in their lives. But when he new patron turns out to be a precocious twelve-year-old named Eliza Fanning, an unexpected friendship sets in motion a string of events that jeopardizes Nella’s world and threatens to expose the many women whose names are written in her register.
In present-day London, aspiring historian Caroline Parcewell spends her tenth wedding anniversary alone, reeling from the discovery of her husband’s infidelity. When she finds an old apothecary vial near the river Thames, she can’t resist investigating, only to realize she’s found a link to the unsolved “apothecary murders” that haunted London over two centuries ago. As she deepens her search, Caroline’s life collides with Nella’s and Elizas in a stunning twist of fate – and not everyone will survive.
Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao
The boys of Huaxia dream of pairing up with girls to pilot Chrysalises, giant transforming robots that can battle the mecha aliens that lurk beyond the Great Wall. It doesn’t matter that the girls often die from the mental strain.
When 18-year-old Zetian offers herself up as a concubine-pilot, it’s to assassinate the ace male pilot responsible for her sister’s death. But she gets her vengeance in a way nobody expected—she kills him through the psychic link between pilots and emerges from the cockpic unscathed. She is labeled an Iron Widow, a much-feared and much-silenced kind of female pilot who can sacrifice boys to power up Chrysalises instead.
To tame her unnerving yet invaluable mental strength, she is paired up with Li Shimin, the strongest and most controversial male pilot in Huaxia. But now that Zetian has had a taste of power, she will not cower so easily. She will miss no opportunity to leverage their combined might and infamy to survive attempt after attempt on her life, until she can figure out exactly why the pilot system works in its misogynist way—and stop more girls from being sacrificed.
Artemis by Andy Weir
Jazz Bashara is a criminal.
Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you’re not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you’ve got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent.
Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down. But pulling off the impossible is just the start of her problems, as she learns that she’s stepped squarely into a conspiracy for control of Artemis itself—and that now, her only chance at survival lies in a gambit even riskier than the first.
The Poppy War by R. F. Kuang
An epic historical military fantasy, inspired by the bloody history of China’s twentieth century and filled with treachery and magic.
When Rin aced the Keju—the Empire-wide test to find the most talented youth to learn at the Academies—it was a shock to everyone: to the test officials, who couldn’t believe an orphan from Rooster Province could pass without cheating; to Rin’s guardians, who believed they’d finally be able to marry her off and further their criminal enterprise; and to Rin herself, who realized she was finally free of the servitude and despair that made up her daily existence. That she got into Sinegard—the most elite military school in Nikan—was even more surprising.
But surprises aren’t always good.
Because being a dark-skinned peasant girl from the south is not an easy thing at Sinegard. Targeted from the outset by rival classmates for her color, poverty, and gender, Rin discovers she possesses a lethal, unearthly power—an aptitude for the nearly-mythical art of shamanism. Exploring the depths of her gift with the help of a seemingly insane teacher and psychoactive substances, Rin learns that gods long thought dead are very much alive—and that mastering control over those powers could mean more than just surviving school.
For while the Nikara Empire is at peace, the Federation of Mugen still lurks across a narrow sea. The militarily advanced Federation occupied Nikan for decades after the First Poppy War, and only barely lost the continent in the Second. And while most of the people are complacent to go about their lives, a few are aware that a Third Poppy War is just a spark away…
Rin’s shamanic powers may be the only way to save her people. But as she finds out more about the god that has chosen her, the vengeful Phoenix, she fears that winning the war may cost her humanity…and that it may already be too late.
Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
Simon Snow is the worst Chosen One who’s ever been chosen.
That’s what his roommate, Baz, says. And Baz might be evil and a vampire and a complete git, but he’s probably right.
Half the time, Simon can’t even make his wand work, and the other half, he starts something on fire. His mentor’s avoiding him, his girlfriend broke up with him, and there’s a magic-eating monster running around, wearing Simon’s face. Baz would be having a field day with all this, if he were here – it’s their last year at the Watford School of Magicks, and Simon’s infuriating nemesis didn’t even bother to show up.
Carry On – The Rise and Fall of Simon Snow is a ghost story, a love story and a mystery. It has just as much kissing and talking as you’d expect from a Rainbow Rowell story – but far, far more monsters.
Here, The World Entire by Anwen Kya Hayward
After being accused of desecrating Athena’s temple and subsequently cursed with monstrousness, Medusa lives alone on the outskirts of the world, secluding herself from everyone so as to keep both herself and the rest of the world safe. When Perseus comes to ask for her help, Medusa tries desperately to make him leave, but no matter what she does, Perseus stays. As the days wear on and she reveals more about the events that led her to the cave, it becomes obvious that there is a choice to make: stay safe and alone, or re-enter the world with Perseus. One question still remains, however: what does Perseus want?

what would happen if Ashley was in the pjo universe ?
... Percy Jackson and the Olympians?
... Percy Jackson and the Olympians?
The child, that gets into a 1 v 1 battle with Ares and wins?!?!? Among other exploits? Meeting ASHLYN MOORE?
The world trembles in fear. No, no, strike that. The world is bloody well shaking in its foundations. It's the end. It's over.
Of course, this conclusion isn't drawn immediately. Ashlyn, surprisingly enough, is not a half-blood (even if Grover is convinced she has to be the forgotten child of Nemesis, Eris, or even an accidental creation of Artemis given how that vindictive streak is paired with a fierce protectiveness). But Ashlyn is not a demi-god. Monsters are not called into her presence and have no reason to attack beyond her smart mouth. In fact, the only thing that stands out on paper is Ashlyn's unique ability to see through the mist.
The other trait that stands out is her "take no shit" attitude that extends, in fact, is borderline targeted, to the pantheon and all accompanying creatures.
The number of therapist and psychologist recommendations being sent to the 600th floor of the Empire State Building is frankly ridiculous. The cards are everywhere. As well as several letters demanding child support and a few hundred cases of blackmail material... certain people have a bit more evidence about their activities, and Ashlyn has resisted the urge to dump her head into bleach more than once.
This, of course, leads to several attempted smittings.
First, it was essentially a glorified hit out on a young human woman, a normal human woman that confused several monsters. But blood was blood, and who were they to question the curses of the gods?
After several ran home on fire, half-drowned, electrocuted, and a few disappeared after being run over by a truck, the monsters of myth are a bit more hesitant to attack.
After Ashlyn is spotted dropping an old radiator on a Manticore’s head, and later reported to have a blind folded gossip session with Medusa within the same day, she’s been named a fellow monster.
There is no “honorary” added to the title. But it doesn’t really matter because all Ashlyn knows is that suddenly, she’s getting grudging salutes from Cyclopses and the oversized snake isn’t trying to eat her anymore. She doesn’t drop the sledgehammer, or the pepper spray, or the police grade taser she knicked off a cop that wasn’t paying attention. She’s tried dropping the walking stick Hephaestus gave her a few weeks ago, some sort of thank you for telling Hera to get off her high horse of family protection, but the darn thing keeps materializing no matter what she does. If it weren’t for its straight, pole-like form, Ashlyn might’ve mistaken it for a boomerang.
Of course, it is noticed when no one seems willing to attack the cockroach of a human, so the more peeved off olympians resort to the good old fashioned ways of dealing with blasphemy.
By the end of the week Zeus is wailing like a toddler.
No matter how many thunderbolts. How many hateful arrows launched, birds flying to peck out eyes, or attempts at transforming such a stubborn little mortal, nothing sticks.
Well, the one pigeon managed to drop a little vengeful squat which Aphrodite was unusually happy about.
But nothing worked.
Poseidon, after he was done laughing his ass off (the letter he was sent was relatively short, and while harsh, he did find relatively fair, and the humiliation of his brother a favorable offering to cover the insolence) agreed to turn the defeat of this indestructible monster into a quest for their offspring.
None seemed to notice that the fates had been watching these events go down with mouthfuls of popcorn, laughter, and an unusual amount of cheer as they fought over their singular eye.
None seemed to notice how the oracle, poor thing who needed to get out more often, now held several pamphlets advertising far away convents and the basics of nuns.
Only a few select half-bloods bore witness to the sheer joy emanating from the few scraps of Cronus’ mutilated body.
Ashlyn remained oblivious to all of this. All she saw was a goat boy, a girl with eyes too cold, and a boy with a sword in hands far too steady despite his shaking legs. Ashlyn Moore locked eyes with children, and for the first time since her entrance into this world, she felt rage.
As the three humans and one saytar sat in a dinner, chatting and sorting out the situation, Nemesis an Eris gave each other a high five. Neither of the pair had given there blessings or protections, but neither could resist the distinct brew of adventuring to come.
This would be fun

Here's the last addition to the Helluva Boss OC redesigns, Artemis! I figured she needed a major makeover, cuz I thought her design was a little bland, so I decided on making them a ghost kangaroo sinner! I personally think they look so much better in their new look, and TBH, Artemis' new look is probably one of my favorites ^w^ And yes, I know they kinda look like Ember from Danny Phantom, I made that realization after I finished them XD BTW, her boobs aren't that massive, she has a similar chest to Angel Dust, where their chest is mainly made up of fluff that's pushed up by her shirt, and her breasts are relatively smaller, it's mostly just a bunch of floof. I hope you guys like how they turned out, cuz I'm very proud of the outcome of her design X3

Green spring: Pixies
PIXIES
Category: British folklore
Ah, the pixies… Everybody knows – or rather think they know what a pixie are. They were heavily popularized by modern media. Harry Potter, Artemis Fowl, The Spiderwick Chronicles, Pathfinder…  But by now you probably know the song: the modern image we have of the pixie is not exactly what a pixie really is, and pixie doesn’t just mean “small, tiny fairy with wings”.
Pixies (also known as piskies or pigsies or pizkies or puggsies) are magical supernatural creatures of Southern England, similar in nature to elf, sprites and fairies. In fact, despite being treated as two different species, the legends and stories of pixies overlap with those of fairies in England. Pixies were depicted as small, child-like humanoids with a very mischievous nature. They usually could be spotted at night, when they gathered in huge numbers to either dance through the night or wrestle until dawn. Pixies were believed to live underground, at the location of ancient “pagan” sites: stone circles, dolmens, barrows, menhirs… Pixies are generally good-natured and benevolent entities – they reward humans that care for them or are polite towards them, while they punish those who neglect their shores or are rude ; they are merry folks, who give all sorts of blessings to the people they like… But their mischievous nature also makes them prone to nastier tricks more akin to the fairies: for example, they like leading travelers astray in the night to lose them, they can “infest” houses and farms poltergeist-style, and sometimes they steal children out of their cribs to raise as their own. One of the pixies big obsessions are horses: they adore them, usually steal them at night to ride on their back (just because they adore this), and they tangle their manes in form of ringlets. Pixies also love fine and good clothes: they usually go around either dressed in rags, either naked, but if you offer them good clothes, nice ribbons or fine silk, then they’ll be very happy.
Now, when it comes to pixies, there are two main “regional tradition”. One is from the New Forest region (Dorset, Hampshire…). New Forest pixies are depicted as wizened old men, with pale skin and round ears – there are no females among the pixies. Despite being very small (child-sized), they can use magic to alter their height – they can also use it to change their shape in one of two ways. Either they can become a will-o-the-wisp, either they become a “Colt pixie”. A Colt pixie is the name given to a pixie in the shape of a horse or pony. A scruffy, ragged and pale beast, the Colt pixie’s only preoccupation is to lead travelers and livestock away into the wilds (which is why it was associated with the will-of-the-wisp). Puck (see my post about him) was notably renowned for often taking the same of a Colt pixie. In fact, Puck (also called Pugg, or Tom Puck) was said to be one of the three most famous pixies, alongside Watt (a pixie who offered witches magical powers) and Lazy Laurence (renowned for protecting orchards and guarding cider). New Forest pixies were said to have a king ruling over them – but people disagree as to whether this king is Gran Collin (who was said to be a “giant pixie”, appearing larger than a human being) or his twin brother “Tiddie Cole” (the size of a thumb, so a dwarf pixie).
The big “rivalling” tradition is the one from the Devon regions, where pixies are also a very big thing. Devon pixies’ size range from so small you can’t see them with your bare eyes, to roughly human in stature, but the main difference between them and the New Forest pixies is that, while the New Forest pixies are quite “wild”, the Devon pixies are more “domesticated”. They still are mischievous spirits of the wildlands – they like to ride on the Dartmoor colts at night, they gather to dance and make music, they use magic to mislead travelers through the moors (this is a spell called “being pixy-led” and the only way to break it is to put your coat inside-out), and they are also said to lure children into playing with them by disguising themselves as a simple, inoffensive bundle of rags… But unlike the New Forest pixies, the Devon pixies can select friendly humans or ones in need (poor humans or widows for example) and decide to help them, usually by doing their house-chores. Similarly pixies can be “paid” for their chores, or be attracted to a house, or strike a friendship with a human, in exchange of offerings of clothes, food, or milk (the favorite beverage of all the fair folk of England).
Beyond these two main regional traditions, there are other smaller local ones. For example in Cornwall, the pixies are said to be ruled by a queen: the famous Cornish figure of Joan the Wad. “Wad” was a morn meaning “torch”, and this was because she was a type of “will-o-the-wisp” spirit, said to be married to none other than Jack-o-Lantern, another famous “light in the night” spirit. However unlike the will-of-the-wisps that usually lead people astray, Joan the Wad was much more benevolent: she guided lost people on the moors when the weather was bad, and she brought good luck to all those she encountered (even though she was also sometimes said to tickle people until they go mad…). Joan the Wad connection to good luck was so strong that, for a long time, people of Cornwall wore on their person little figures of Joan the Wad as good-luck talismans, or depicted her face on doorknobs to protect the house from evil spirits. Another local tradition comes from Somerset, where pixies and fairies were said to have been enemies – they waged a great battle against each other at Buckland St. Mary. They fairies lost and fled the area forever, but the pixies won and this is why they still hang out near the village.
One particular celebration deserves to be noted: an East Devon holiday, called “Pixie Day”, on the Saturday nearest to Midsummer. Starting in 1954 and localized in the town of Ottery St. Mary, it is actually a yearly celebration of an old legend tied to the town’s church bells. According to the legend, in the times where Christianity was still fresh and new in England, a bishop decided to build a church in the town of Otteri – he had magnificent, beautiful iron bells prepared in Wales and asked monks to make an escort to bring them to the town, out of fear they would be damaged in any way. The pixies however ruled the lands of Otteri, and knew that if these bells ever rung, they would lose their power over the region, so they cast a spell on the monks carrying the bells, changing their road so they would walk towards the cliffs of Sidmouth instead of towards Otteri. However, as the monks were about to throw themselves into the sea, one of them stubbed his toe on a rock. As it was the custom back then, he invoked the name of God (though in a much more polite form than today’s “God damnit!”), and this broke the spell of the pixies. The bells were brought to Otteri, but the pixies were not ready to give up. They stole away the bell-ringer of the church, and imprisoned him in a riverside cave where they dwell, called the “Pixies’ Parlour”. The vicar of the town had to go and rescue the poor stolen victim – and it is this battle that the town celebrates yearly. Each year on Pixie Day, boys and girls (from Cub Scouts and Brownies Girl Guides) dress up as pixies and steal away the bell-ringers of the church of Saint Mary – they don’t bring them to the actual Pixies Parlour cave, but rather to another church near Caanan park, and there a theatrical re-enactment of the vicar banishing the pixies happen.
- - - - - - -
The thing with the Pixies is that, just like with the fairies, there was a clear divide between their original depiction (as described above) and their “Victorian self”, built out of the works of artists and poets of the Victorian era. At this point, the pixies gained their most famous “sprite” attributes. People began depicting them as very, very small, finger-sized smalls, with pointy ears, and they also gave them green outfits and green pointy caps. Pixies began to be treated as entirely positive and wonderful little folks – curing all illnesses, blessing marriages to be fertile, helping win the heart of the one you love, able to “walk upon water and sail upon the land”, being friends with the wild animals and loving humans with all their heart… Pixies began to be depicted as ageless, deathless beings eternally young and happy, unable to feel sadness or fear – though some of the slightly creepier elements of their old “folkloric” self still stayed – for example the fact that if sometimes they marry a human, it is not so much out of love than out of the desire to “stealing their soul” (there is a whole thing about fairy folks not having souls and wishing to gain one), to how the pixies are actually “not bless nor banned”, aka not belonging to either Heaven or Hell, in-between, neutral spirits neither angels nor demons. It is also around the Victorian times that there was once again much debate and confusion as to whether pixies were different from fairies, or rather were the same thing.
[But as you will note so far, there is nothing about pixies having wings or flying – this is an invention of modern-day fiction.]
A very fun fact: you know about the famous story “The Three Little Pigs”? Well, its oldest recorded version comes from the Devon, and doesn’t show three “little pigs”… But three “little pixies”. And the villain isn’t a wolf, but a fox. It is thought that the confusion from “pixies” to “pigs” is due to one of the alternate ways to write the name of the small magical folk, which is “pigsies” and sounds a lot like “pigs” in plural.

Fly By Night
@fluffbruary day 18! some short and sweet, Dragon Heist-canon Jarlaxle/Artemis today~ Up on AO3 here.
In which Jarlaxle and Artemis take a flight.
“This is not an apology!” Artemis shouted.
He had to shout to be certain of being heard over the rushing wind and the snap of griffon wings. Jarlaxle patted his hand, threw a grin over his shoulder, and the griffon suddenly banked hard east. Artemis gripped Jarlaxle tighter—east was better than west at least, because west lay the harbour, and he had no desire to take an impromptu dip off a hundred-foot drop.
He’d almost stabbed Jarlaxle when he’d shown up at Tymora’s Blessing in the middle of the night, whispering Artemis’ name in the dark. Somehow, Artemis had let himself be persuaded out of the inn and onto this beast. Rooftops flashed past below, too fast for him to tell if anyone bore witness to their mad flight. He hadn’t even known Jarlaxle could ride a griffon—though he supposed at this point he shouldn’t have been surprised.
The griffon’s wings beat harder and the city fell further and further away below. Artemis’ stomach lurched, and this was surely what Jarlaxle had wanted—him clinging on for dear life. Jarlaxle himself seemed perfectly at-ease. He leaned back against Artemis as the griffon evened out, slowing into an easy soar across sleeping Waterdeep.
“I’m sorry about the dragon,” he said. His fingers traced idly over Artemis’ white-knuckled grip.
“Her offspring is going to make you sorrier.”
Jarlaxle chuckled and glanced out over the dark harbour. “Only if the wyrmling finds out I have the crystal.”
“Which it will, if those new friends of yours keep prying.”
“For someone who decided he wasn’t getting involved, you are surprisingly up to date on my affairs.”
“Where you are concerned, it pays to be well-informed.”
The griffon angled around in a wide arc through the night, and as it flew lazily on, Artemis found himself searching the harbour, eyes flicking over the larger vessels moored out away from the docks. He picked out the Eyecatcher easily enough, and thought again of the offer of a berth.
In his arms, Jarlaxle hummed something, so low that Artemis felt more than heard it. A drone-like melody, littered with little runs of off-kilter arpeggios. Menzoberranzan music.
Artemis sighed, and set his chin on Jarlaxle’s shoulder. “Where did you even get this creature? It’s not part of your carnival.”
“I’m flattered you remember the contents of my carnival so clearly.”
“Answer the question.” Artemis tugged an earring with his teeth.
“I borrowed it.” Artemis bit him. “I’m going to give it back! Besides, you ought to know better by now than to ask questions you do not want the answer to.”
“I ought to know better by now than to let you talk me into things.”
“Mm, that you should.” Jarlaxle turned his head, and though the angle was awkward, he caught Artemis’ mouth in a kiss anyway. “I’m glad you don’t.”
“Get me back to the inn in one piece, and perhaps I’ll let you talk me into something else,” Artemis said. The thrum of excitement that ran through Jarlaxle was tangible.
“Truly?”
“Inn. One piece. Then we’ll talk.”
Jarlaxle leaned over the griffon’s neck. “You heard the man—quickly, before he changes his mind!”
They swept over the sleeping city, and by the time they made it back to Tymora’s Blessing, Artemis had not, as it turned out, changed his mind.

Tumblr media
Artemis noticed he didn’t flinch from her touch. Her hand stayed gently rested at his cheek, thumb running over the rough skin. She moved with his pull. She wasn’t sure what she was expecting; she never was when it came to him. If he’d push her away or pull in as he was. The princess all but fell into the kiss with him. A soft hum passed between her lips to his as she gave in to the feelings and motions. Her arms made their way around his shoulders to keep him close to her, hands gently brushing against the feathers at the base of his wings. Surely her heart was going to beat out of her chest, and he could feel it too with their proximity. She didn’t want to part from him but unfortunately she needed to breathe; the break was short lived but as she went to lean in again she paused. “Was that okay?” Her voice soft.

AUs - Force of Nature
List of Offical Force of Nature AUs. There are mainly two types of AU: Alternate timelines (basically exploring ‘what if’ scenarios) and just straight-up alternate universes (where the characters exist in non SW related universes).
Alternate Timelines
Tumblr media
Jedi Melinoe AU
Story title: A Blinding Light
Also known as: Jedi Mar AU, Jedi Jaks AU
Takes place in a timeline where Melinoe Lanami is brought to the Jedi as a toddler. She trained as Plo Koon’s Padawan and eventually took on an alternate Jaks Karaay Jr as her own Padawan.
Mar Fett (known as Kora Apailana in this timeline) was also taken in by the Jedi and later became Obi-Wan’s second Padawan after Anakin.
During the Clone Wars, Melinoe served as the Jedi general of Law’s Squad. Due to guilt and becoming disillusioned from the Order, Melinoe planned to leave the Order after the war. When her padawan was killed, Melinoe lashed out against the Jedi and later disappeared.
Tumblr media
Senator Melinoe AU
Story title: It Doesn't Hurt Me
Also known as: Senator Lanami, Role Swap AU, Sith Obi-Wan AU
A world where Melinoe stopped her mother from being killed. She continued living on Csilla. Working her way up through the political system. Exposing corruption as she went. Thanks to her influence, the Chiss Ascendancy would become a powerful force in the Republic Senate and close allies with The Marazi Collective.
Rather than having adopted an infant Macaria, in this timeline, Melinoe ended up adopting a young Din Djarin, which led to him being raised alongside Thanatus as his brother. Macaria was kidnapped by Adonis Kryze from Jaks Karaay Snr and Biska. Raised to be Adonis' heir. So Din becomes a Marazi, and Macaria becomes a Mandalorian (hence the Swap part of the AU).
Tumblr media
Stardew Valley AU
Story title: Dance of the Moonlight Peepers
Also known as: N/A
A timeline where Macaria stayed on Marazi after the events of the original trilogy and became a farmer. Grogu and Din eventually come to Marazi looking for a place to hide and eventually become friends with Macaria.
Tumblr media
Everyone Lives/No One Dies AU
Story title: An Existence Known as Evil
Also known as: Eglantine Lives AU
A universe where Melinoe, in a state of grief, performed a ritual to rewrite the cosmos and bring Eglantine Obriv back from the dead. Along with ending the Clone Wars and taking away her enemies' powers. In the process, Melinoe loses her mortal existence and becomes a strange entity that haunts the rest of the cast's lives.
Darth Sidious and his allies, like Sly Moore, disappear suddenly one day. The Clones are given equal rights. Cody adopts a young Thanatus, and Jaks Karaay Snr lives to raise Macaria and Jaks Jr with Biska. Eglantine returns from a ‘long journey’ and becomes the leader of the Nkua Etana Sept. Despite living very happy lives, all three of them can never shake this strange feeling that something (or someone) is missing.
Alternate Universes
Tumblr media
Myths AU
Story title: Where the Sea Meets the Land
Also known as: Merfolk AU, Selkie AU, Domestic AU
An AU that takes place during an ambiguous time on Earth. Mythical creatures (Force Sensitives) are real but live in disguise among humans for the most part.
Melinoe is a mermaid who ends up living with a human Cody after getting badly injured during a fight.
The Karaay Family and, by extension, Macaria are Selkies.
Tumblr media
Apocalypse AU
Story title: What Next?
Also known as: Resident Evil AU, Walking Dead AU, Fallout AU
In this world, some kind of apocalyptic event happened (which may or may not have been caused by Melinoe and Cody).
Macaria travels across the apocalyptic wasteland with a human baby Grogu, looking for her family. Din is set up with a group in an abandoned mall and is raising Nyx and a human Artemy. The group crosses paths and starts travelling togather.
Tumblr media
Witch AU
Story title: Weirdos Have to Stick Together
Also known as: Owl House AU
A Boiling Isles setting where Mar stumbles into a fantasy world and starts trying to learn magic from Wild Witch: Melinoe.
So like: Mar (Luz), Ahsoka (Amity), Melinoe (Eda), Cody (Raine)
I also wanna note they all have palismans: Mar has a squid, Melinoe has a grass snake, and Cody and his two brothers have a dingo, wolf and fox.
Tumblr media
Superhero AU
Story title: Anything You Can Do
Also known as: SpiderMar AU
Basically, what if Mar Fett was Spiderwoman?  Also Melinoe is a version of Doc Ock that went crazy at some point.
Tumblr media
Barbie AU
Story Title: A Long Time Ago
Also Known as: Ballet AU, Fairytale AU
Stand-alone stories where each member of the Lanami Family plays the main part in a story based on an old Barbie movie.
Melinoe as the Fairy Queen in Swan Lake, Nyx as Rapunzel, Macaria as the Sugarplum Princess in The Nutcracker, and Thanatus as Elina in Fairytopia

First Lines
Rules: share the first lines of ten of your most recent fanfics and tag ten people. If you have written fewer than ten, don’t be shy and share anyway.
@elfscribe tagged me in! And here we go, with the last thing first...
(I have a fair amount of handwritten things that would be between some of this, but since those things aren't online yet, I can't link to my not so secret stash of Thranduil/Finrod smut.)
“...and that is why I believe we need to establish a subcommittee for this project. ((Courteous Abstentions; Finrod and Thranduil behaving badly at a srs bsns meeting))
It was the saddest happiest day any of them could recall. ((Memories; Recollections of Celebrian, absent from the marriage of Glorfindel and Erestor for canon reasons))
Sailors of the ship had barely finished making fast the moored vessel when the first travelers stepped onto the pier and made their way to the platform where friends and family stood in anticipation of the latest ship to arrive. ((Orchidelirium; a Finrod/Glorfindel sorta fluffy sorta h/c fic))
On the shores of Cuivienen, the first type of business establishment was a pub. ((Thirst; Melkor/Fëanáro hook-up in YT Valinor))
Now Borlas, after his supper was finished–or eaten to the extent he could muster, for thought went round his head on what exactly Saelon intended, and how deep the sinister roots reached, and who was Herumor–went looking in his dresser for clothing that would suffice for the parameters Saelon had set. ((The New Shadow: Chapter Two; Saelon/Herumor and I think this is a snuff fic? There's gotta be a dead dove in a bag on a shelf somewhere for this one. Pls make sure you check warnings.))
It was a garden, set in the center of the Isle of Balar. ((Tomorrow; Maedhros/Fingon, with transgender FtM Fingon and lil Gil-Galad the wise, plus much flashbacks.))
“And here is the last stop on our tour!” announced the guide who was leading several dozen elves around to important landmarks in Valinor. ((Mortals in Valinor; Fingon and Finrod touring the hobbit hole their friends Bilbo and Frodo lived in when they were still alive in Valinor.))
On a hill in the forest there is a marker for a grave. ((Always My Lady; Caranthir mourning for Haleth))
There were several questions Elrond prepared himself for in the early morning hours. ((More Precious Than a Silmaril; Elrond, Glorfindel, and Erestor rescue Maglor))
Celegorm paused and crouched, hand lifted silently in a command to Huan to stop.  ((Orion; a mingling of Valinor with Greek Myth--Artemis!Aredhel and Orion!Celegorm))
Tagging time: @arofili @zeesmuse @thedaughterofshadows @maglor-my-beloved @lferion @hennethgalad @i-did-not-mean-to @hhimring @annellspethraven and the last one is for anyone I didn't tag but wants to do this <3
