Waarom een bamboe tandenborstel een goed alternatief is.

Tandenborstels worden iedere dag weer gebruikt om de tanden mee te poetsen. Dit zijn er zo veel dat tandenborstels erg veel invloed hebben op het milieu. De wereld kent al veel problemen met plastic in de natuur. De tandenborstels horen daar ook bij. Ieder jaar eindigen er weer 2 miljard tandenborstels in de zee. Voordat tandenborstels van plastic zijn verteerd ben je meer dan honderd jaar verder. Zo blijft er een stroom van milieuvervuiling zolang mensen niet andere alternatieven gaan gebruiken. Een goed alternatief is de bamboe tandenborstel.

Steeds vaker zie je producten van bamboe voorbij komen. Van kleding tot keukengerei, en van een tandenborstel tot een klerenhanger. Er zijn heel erg veel producten die gemaakt zijn van bamboe. Het wordt steeds populairder om producten van bamboe in huis te halen. Dit komt omdat de mens steeds meer bewuster wordt van het plastic probleem in de wereld. Daarom ontstaan er steeds meer bedrijven die alledaagse producten aanbieden die niet van plastic zijn gemaakt maar van bamboe. Maar waarom is het materiaal bamboe nou zo populair?

Bamboe valt officieel onder de grassoorten, is erg sterk materiaal en verhout ook heel snel. In totaal zijn er ongeveer 1500 verschillende soorten van. Bamboe heeft daarnaast ook geen mest of chemische middelen nodig om snel te groeien en is daarmee ook niet schadelijk voor het milieu. Het is ook de snelste groeiende plant ter wereld. Elke soort bamboe heeft eigen kenmerken wanneer het aankomt op de groei van de plant. Sommige groeien sneller dan de ander. De meeste bamboe soorten groeien wel tussen de 5 en 20 centimeter per dag.

Bamboe neemt van nature zelf koolstofdioxide op en produceert ook nog eens zuurstof. Dit heeft dezelfde werking als bij normale bomen. De bamboe plant is zelfs nog meer efficiënt als een boom van hetzelfde formaat. De bamboe plant produceert wel 35% meer zuurstof. Daarom is het een extreem goede luchtzuiveraar en is het erg duurzaam.

Er zijn dus genoeg redenen waarom bamboe een erg goed materiaal is. Een bamboe tandenborstel is bijvoorbeeld een goed product. Je poetst elke dag je tanden, dus je gebruikt het relatief vaak. Door tandartsen wordt er aangeraden dat je elke 2 maanden weer een nieuwe moet aanschaffen zodat je gebit zo gezond en mooi mogelijk blijft. Wanneer mensen elke 2 maanden weer een nieuwe plastic tandenborstel aanschaffen is er een grote kans dat deze uiteindelijk in de natuur belanden. Stel je voor dat al deze mensen om de 2 maanden een tandenborstel kopen die van bamboe is. Al deze plastic tandenborstels zouden dan niet meer in de natuur eindigen.

Dit gaat hoogstwaarschijnlijk niet zo snel gebeuren. Dit komt mede doordat er extreem veel mensen zijn die denken dat zij geen verschil kunnen maken, want het is maar één tandenborstel. Als je al deze mensen bij elkaar optelt zijn dat toch een hoop plastic tandenborstels. Als we deze mensen kunnen overtuigen dat hun ene plastic tandenborstel wel degelijk een verschil kan maken, dan kan de wereld al snel een stukje schoner worden.
