Not too bad, considering I haven't committed to any TRUE lifting since December. But here's a thought: do you have any kind of #injury, whether it be a form of #tendonitis, #tendonopathy, etc? You still can lift if you wish; you'll simply have to work around the injury while it's healing. That's all. Since I've been back at the gym, whether it be @strongandshapely or @goldsgym.mw, I've completely changed my training to a more machine oriented, #bodybuilding friendly approach. I'm using #dumbbells and a few key #selfmyofascialrelease tools when working on my #golferselbow. And the, for the sake of #stabilization, I'm using multiple different machines in one big #giantset to get on and out of the gym within an hour max. PRE-MOVEMENT PREP!
.
Performed as a part of our #cpps warm-up to amp the body for the loading and functionality in the required ranges of motion for performing at its highest level
.
Starting with loosening up the tight areas, for me it's the lats, upper back, traps, hip flexors, glutes, ankles. On a certain day, certain areas feel extremely tight than others and hence we focus on some extra opening up of those areas
.
OPEN & ACTIVATE
On upper body days, special focus is on opening up the soft tissue and activation of antagonist/stabilizer muscles to restore full range of motion of the pressing movements like the bench press or the push up and similarly for lower body days, special focus is on opening up of the hips and ankles and activation of the hip complex for the primary squat or deadlift movement
.
Opening up is generally done with Self myofacial release(SMR) or self massage using foam roller or medball or tennis/lacrosse ball. This is followed up with dynamic stretches and mobility drills to open up the rolled areas
.
CORE TEMPERATURE
Once activation is done, we work on raising the core temperature which is of utmost importance when trying to hit some serious strength and performance goals with your training. Special focus is laid on anti-type movements like the plank, bird dog etc. Not a lot of volume, just stimulate, that's it!

CNS
Finally it's the nail in the coffin with explosive movements for the activation of the central nervous system (CNS) to literally fire up for your workout and give it all you got. Usually exercises that closely mimic the primary movement are used as a jump, throw, plyometric or dynamic effort(speed reps) fashion to really PREP for the next big movement

Such a Rewarding past week @lifetime.life in San Clemente. I had the Blessed opportunity to Invest Time @walkyourwaygirl who is part of Our Sensational #fitfam This Woman straight Brings the High Energy & Crushes Every Group class she Leads. It just so happens she goes so hard that she had a over use challenge with her left hamstring and need simply some #theragun recovery therapy which I was happy to give to her & also help educate her on how important daily #selfmyofascialrelease is especially for such a Wellness Warrior as she is. Within just 1/2 hr of work I was able to loosen things up considerably for her. Hello, and welcome to the latest installment if my short series on lower body self release! Today we take a look at the adductor muscles, also known as the inner thigh. Chances are the general public completely ignore this area while stretching, and they should. Tight #adductors make for #tighthips and that's especially detrimental when squatting. But of course this can be resolved with #selfmyofascialrelease. Simply place your #foamroller under your chosen adductor with your elbows out front, and roll back and forth in a controlled manner 8 - 10 times.
