Please Watch My Adventures with Superman

This show is just so delightful and manages to capture the essence of Superman in a way a lot of adaptations just don't quite get. If you've ever been curious about Superman, if you've ever felt Superman is too boring for you, or you just enjoy a fun superhero story, I highly recommend checking this series out.

The first season has ten episodes, and the second season has just aired its third episode. In the US, it's available on Adult Swim and Max.

What It's About

If you aren't familiar with Superman, he's an alien -- the last survivor of planet Krypton, sent to Earth as an infant where he was found and raised as Clark Kent. Being an alien, he has extraordinary powers which he uses to lead a double life as a hero. This show focuses on a core trio of Clark, his girlfriend Lois, and their friend Jimmy, all of whom work at the Daily Planet newspaper.

Clark Kent / Superman

One of the main reasons this show works is it understands that Clark is Clark, first and foremost, and Superman is his disguise. Clark is a big friendly nerd. He's a huge sweetheart who cares so deeply about the people around him and the planet that adopted him.

This version of Clark is starting out very young (early 20s), so a lot of this story is about him just figuring things out. He's gradually learning the truth about his origins, the extent of his powers, and how best to be a hero -- all while grappling with the fact that he isn't human and his people of origin may in fact be a massive threat to Earth.

Clark is voiced by Jack Quaid, which you might not expect to work well, but he honestly nails it.

Lois Lane

Lois is loud. She's ambitious. She's intelligent and quick-witted. She doesn't take no for an answer. She has jumped off a building to prove her point -- twice. She is an unstoppable force of nature, and this show refuses to dumb any of those traits down.

But above all, she's kind. She wants to use everything she can do to help people. Her relationship with Clark is also everything you could ever want from a Clois dynamic.

This version of Lois is Korean-American, and voiced by Alice Lee, who does a phenomenal job.

Jimmy Olsen

Jimmy is Clark's best friend and roommate. This version portrays him as a supernatural/paranormal vlogger, running a web series called Flamebird. He's easily excitable, very passionate, as well as one of the most dedicated friends you could ask for.

Following in the footsteps of several previous iterations of the character, this version of Jimmy is African-America. He's voiced by Ishmael Sahid, who's just perfect in the part.

Why It's Great

The characters are all fun and interesting in their own right, while also having a great dynamic with each other -- as duos and as a full trio. And because the characters are shown as being very young and just starting out, they're very relatable. Additionally, every character feels very true to the spirit of their comics counterpart, despite taking a lot of liberties with the specifics.

There's a great cast of villains so far -- Livewire, Task Force X, Mxyzptlk, Parasite, Silver Banshee, and plenty of others that I don't want to spoil. They've also been teasing some really interesting stuff for the Kryptonians, which is noticeably different from any previous adaptations I'm familiar with.

The show is very anime-inspired, giving it a distinct flavor from other Superman adaptations. The creators are clearly having a ton of fun with it. Classic Superman villain Mxyzptlk, who's typically shown as an imp, now looks like he just walked out of a Dragon Ball episode, in an episode called "Kiss Kiss Fall In Portal."

It's also the same animation studio as The Legend of Korra and Voltron: Legendary Defender, who do excellent work. The character designs are unique while still fitting the characters perfectly. I particular love Clark and Superman's designs -- they've struck a balance between making sure he's big and muscular while also retaining a certain softness to his appearance. The fight scenes are fluid and dynamic. It all just works.

The 12° is under pisces, meaning it will be super cute and romantic. JK might sing a song at his wedding, it's a possibility. He will be very inspired by his wedding. It might also be a spiritual union. Or there is a part of spirituality. Romantic in cheesy type, can be also the type of wedding where everyone cry lol.

Boda in Aquarius 3H, 10°

The Aquarius placement there makes me feel like it will be a very unique wedding. There is a stellium in Aquarius which makes me feel like it's the most thing that will define the wedding: unique. There might be many stuff that make the wedding stands out. It might be a wedding that many people wait for, the most expected one. Some people will say it's weird. It might be unique for certain things, maybe for Koreans and his closed ones, and it might be because the bride is foreigner. So she might bring her own culture in it, which makes it unique. The 3H (gemini) can make the wedding happens in foreign lands! JK might get married in his FS's homeland, and since we have Aquarius stellium, I wouldn't be shocked. The Gemini placement means it's a wedding that will be talked about a lot. People from different cultures, different countries there. Gossips and rumors about it. So the wedding might shine through the world, many countries will talk about it. It might be an amazing wedding to the siblings of the couple, and the army, the people on the internet. The 10° (Capricorn) will make the wedding still appear classy!

Okay, did I already say people will cry? Yes. Another confirmation. A very emotional wedding, people might cry because it's very romantic. It might be very artistic too, many artists will be present. With Sagittarius mercury here, the wedding could be spiritual or religious if anyone is. Since pisces and Aquarius are there a lot, the spiritual side could be more important. The communication during the wedding is easy, mature and open-minded. Again, many people from different countries and cultures, many people from different backgrounds too. It's a mix there lol. So, many translators can be present. People like that it's full of different cultures. With the 2H (taurus), a prenup contract can be sign. A spiritual or religious wedding too. There is a very warm communication here. People can be a bit shy with each other at first and then warm up. Many people can meet a lot of people. They can learn a lot. JK or his wife will dress in a unique way, or something unique about them. Maybe it's considered "unique" because the wife is foreigner? IDK! Don't forget the persona chart is on JK's POV. So I will be first taking about the misunderstandings and disagreements. I think the difference of culture will makes people confused. As it seems like JK will marry a foreigner, it's an international couple which makes the couple have more disagreements and misunderstandings about their habits. It can happen during the wedding too. It's part of the everyday life of an international couple. Being in the 3H, the communication and translation can be confusing sometimes. Aquarius also rules social medias, and being in the 3H, it can makes the wedding being revealed to the social medias in real time which will be a conflict. It can make also a lot of gossips about it. The 12° is under pisces, meaning the emotions can be confusing. Some people might not understand why other cry at certain moments. I think it's all part of the different backgrounds, different cultures and different countries. This is what create the most confusion.

A bunch of humans having fun where all barriers are broken. Lucky for being a visionary wedding, this wedding will be iconic and maybe make a trend for other weddings. It can also break a barrier for marrying a foreigner, JK will maybe be one of the first Kpop idols still in the industry that does it. The luck could manifest in being a trend on social medias, people talk about it. Lucky because people talk about your wedding, your wedding are changing the world in a good way. Also with all these placements, it makes the wedding more spiritual but very down to earth style, not too spiritual that it might scared people. More rational spiritual type, I don't really see a vibe of a religious wedding. It might actually feel spiritual for them (the couple) but it's not a theme of the wedding. If it's a theme, it's very light. For the lucky part with the degree, lucky in the organization of the wedding, lucky with money, lucky with the public attention. The wedding will be famous for sure. The degree also makes the prenup very important for JK.

Issues with fights, arguments can happen. It might be quick though, Aries makes things happen quick. The 13° is also an Aries degree, and the 5H is Leo house. He will maybe scared that people are not willing to mix each other, or to make efforts. So he could have the illusions that it's actually this way. He could also have the illusion that people are not having as much fun and it seems.

The wedding will be very transformative in a way that JK might live abroad after, or he will feel more of a stranger to who he was before. He will feel more mature, more open-minded and more of a foreigner. He will evolved in a very mature way. Because Pluto is in the 1H, it means the transformation really is about him, and not about his environment. He feel like a new person, his FS made him a better man. He feels like he may be a better person, he improved.

From Jungkook's point of view, his wife will be stunning, shining, the queen, the main character of the day. He will feel like he has to serve her, it's her day. She will be the sun in the room. It's not only a romantic connection, it's a soul connection. They will have a lot of fun with each other, dance, laugh, have fun. It's their day and they are living it.

It the type of wedding to make people feel like it was the best they attend so far, it would be hard to compete with it. It can make the wedding also be known for being romantic, many people will dream to have such wedding. People will say how cute, how they wish they have a wedding like this. Many people will make their wedding similar to this one after.

Houses

2H - Sagittarius

The sagittarius placement there makes me feel like it will be gift that comes from foreign lands, or maybe offering a trip somewhere? It can also be some stuff to learn, or some funny stuff too. It's just gifts you wouldn't think of first. It seems like it depends on the people, but the money spent will not matter at all. JK and his wife will literally not care much about it. And even for their wedding, they will just make it all so people have fun and enjoy the day. Because Mercury is there, I wouldn't be surprised if JK offered a song to his FS.

3H - Capricorn

-> The guests, how others see and what they think of their wedding? What do they talk the most about it?

The stellium in this house is crazy. Guests will be very presentable, and good looking. They will be very well mannered, and respectful. It can also mean having guests who have money. They will think it's a well organized wedding, a very good looking and classy wedding. They will think it's a respectful union. It's the kind of wedding that makes you drop your mouth. It will look like an expensive wedding. They will think that JK finally is a man. Talking about money, about power, talking about JK and his FS, the wedding, love, etc. Since Aquarius is there too, they could also talk how unique it is. It can mean people will mix each other in during the wedding.

4H - Aquarius

-> Jk's parents’ opinions and feelings on the wedding

They might feel like it's not common for them. The wedding will leave them like they know nothing, they are strangers where they are. They will feel like they need to be open-minded. It's not a situation that makes them comfortable because it's not what they are used to. Pisces is there too, making them emotional and attached to the couple. They could find the ceremony romantic. The moon there represents JK's mom, making her the most emotional. She could be crying a lot or just very invested in the wedding.

Romantic, dreamy. The party could happen near water, so maybe near ocean, sea, or a swimming pool will be there? People will be emotional. People can cry. It will go well like clear water. People are nice to each other, and are very compassionate. There aren't judge people.

Honeymoon will be full of laugh, fun memories, discoveries, and spontaneity. They can talk a lot about many things, talking is what will happen the most.

9H - Cancer

-> Jungkook's parents in law’s opinions and feelings on the wedding, legal matters, are you signing a prenup for example? Wedding linked to spirituality or religion?

Okay, his parents in law will love the wedding, they will think it's super romantic, and it feels very familiar to them, so it makes me feel like the wedding will be in their home country, so bis FS's home country. They will be very happy and emotional to be there. Because Briede asteroid is there, it makes me feel like they like JK but they are more happy for their daughter than anything else. They are more focused on her than JK. Leo is very strong also in this house, so they will be much more comfortable than JK's parents. They will feel very invested in the wedding, even to a point to make it more entertaining. Very extroverted and very fun lol.

11H - Virgo

-> The guests

Clean, well mannered, well presented, well put together, all seem perfect. They know what to do. Guests are a bit cold to each other at first. Since Libra is also in the 11H, that makes them be a bit more open and talkative afterwards. They will be very charismatic and enjoy their time at the wedding.

Rating/roasting Death costumes from Elisabeth das musical

So, this, ladies and gentlemen, is somewhat of my small magnum opus. I'm rating the costumes based on how well I think they're constructed, how much I think the design fits Death as a character and personal preference. What entitles me to undertake this task is me being a student of costume design at uni and being a crazy fan of this show

Disclaimer: I'm only rating costumes from the European productions of Elisabeth das musical, because this post would be way too long if I were to get into all the Japanese and Korean productions costumes.

Original (Vienna, 1992-1996)

Love the iridecsence and shimmer the fabric has, love how flowy it is, altough I wish I could see more contrast between the separate fabrics. The right amount of androgyny with the jacket skirt and the super fluffy hair to set the bar really high for future productions. But, it could have been tailored a bit more in some parts and the execution could have been a teensy bit better. A believable unearthly being. 9/10

German productions (2001-2008)

Not totally on board with making the entire costume black, since it can look a tad too plain in pictures, but that shimmery velvet is so pretty. Not sure if I like all of the seams finished by bias tape, leaning more towards no, since it's giving the costume more of a pyjama appearance rather than some luxurious fantastical coat. I love the cut they gave the jacket, because long jackets with trains are awesome, but with the amount of stories of Deaths tripping on it, I don't think a train is a wise choice for this role. The idea was there, but it wasn't thought through too well. 7/10

Budapest production (1996-2005, 2007-)

I love how goddamn shimmery this Death is! Like, it's balancing the line between being too much and just enough, but I love all the glitter going on. This Death looks like some otherworldly alien and for the most part, I am digging it. I love the decoration going on on the top part of the jacket, but I'm not sure if I like how baggy the coat's silhouette is. And I think the trousers could have benefited from some decorations, because they look like they belong to some other costume. Also, some Deaths wear a waistcoat with this costume and for that piece, I feel like the waistcoats are a bit too long. 8/10

1st revival (Vienna, 2003-2005)

Kept the basic essence of the original design, but upgraded it with a cleaner execution and super sharp tailoring. It could have used some decoration, but I am not too upset about that. We lost a fair bit of the androgyny, but I like their decision to go for an empire style cut for the jacket. And the color contrasts between the black and that bright saturated ultramarine are so good. This design is simple, but hits hard and it's iconic for a good reason. 9/10

Finnish production (Turku, 2005-2006)

This feels very similar to the German tour design to me with the long coat, but with more decorations. I like the choice of the braided cording (perhaps as a nod to Elisabeth's love of Hungary by including elements similar to a hussar uniform). And I like the poofy shirt he seems to have underneath along with the fingerless gloves. But I'm not sure if gold was exactly the best color to use for the deco for Death (I think silver would have looked much better). So, poins off for that and for the trip hazard of the coat. 7.5/10

Flemish production (Antwerp, 2009)

An omen of the bland designs to come. Completely destroyed the color storytelling and made Der Tod look plain as heck. At least the tailoring seems decently good. The only saving factor other than that was the glitter on the black costume. 3/10

2nd revival (Vienna, 2012-)

No. Just... no. This is literally the most plain, most boring costume they could have given him. I get that they wanted to go for a more "masculine" look for Der Tod, but even if I was a fan of this approach, the execution is so boring. Like, the tailoring is good, but it's just bland overall as a costume (and you know you've got a bland costume at hand when the most interesting detail on it are two patches of quilted/couched pleather). It's missing everything that makes a Der Tod costume good in my book. This Tod isn't an otherworldly being, he's just... a dude in pleather. If I were Elisabeth, I would in no way be enchanted with this man and his untucked shirt. 2/10

Kecskemet production (Kecskemet, 2021-2022)

A bit unusual, I'm unsure if I like or dislike it. Like, he is very nicely dressed, which I like, the tailoring looks good, but he kinda looks like a pimp (I do like the cane, tho). With skunk hair, which I don't know if I'm a fan of. Also, I'm not really fond Death being in white through the whole show. And those white contact lenses this Death wears are kinda scary. 5/10

Czech production (Plzeň, 2019-2023)

I didn't think I'd like this costume this much, but this is like what the 2nd revival designers wanted to do with Der Tod, but were too afraid to do. In my opinion, this is how you do a Death costume out of pleather. Despite the material, the coat is flowy and has just the right amount of length to not be a hazard. All the little details you notice once you take a good look at this costume, despite it looking very simple at first glance, are so great! This is a Death, who doesn't quite understand the concept of how a human dresses and all those little details hint at that. I like the choice of making this Death styled after a crow/raven, down to that epic feather shoulderpiece. And thumbs up for them not being afraid to really go in with the makeup. 8/10

Bruxellons production (Brussels, 2022)

This Death costume is so simple, but I commend the designer for going for something new and fresh. The tailoring is crisp, I love the shade of blue they gave Death and the choice of a mesh shirt isn't something I would think I'd like, but I do like it. I'm just still stuck on thinking about Sukuna being HELLA ancient and that really only coming through his ... sexual preferences, and by extension... his preferences for the body, right? Which ik we're thinking is his liking for the body as it comes naturally, naked and untouched and etc...

SO, it makes perfect sense that he loves a nicely done-up foot because ... even if you're wearing clothes, a healthy looking, decorated foot is one way to show off the quality of your body without sacrificing much of your integrity, or the appearance of that specific body part... for EXAMPLE:

You can be wearing whatever kind of clothing you want, but with a beautiful mani-pedi and nice shoes, people look at you and KNOW you take care of your skin !!!

And for Sukuna, that's literally... nut-worthy automatically. That his woman is so cared for she, not only has hands, but FEET too, that instead of showing the affects of hard work on them... are pampered beyond belief and always look delicious.

Even if you do use your hands for work, or have hands that show that kind of hard work on them, the second Sukuna attaches himself to you, that's one of the first things he demands you fix (by paying for your spa appointments, of course)... and ain't no way in hell he's taking no for an answer.

(I don't even think it's something he cares about until he realizes he can care about it. He's just chilling, living his best, king-of-curses life... and then one day he notices you putting lotion on your heels before bed and the next time your legs are in the air, he's pressing your feet to his face. Or you put on an anklet just for the day and he doesn't let you take it off ever again, ONLY ever change it so he can hear the sound of it jingle when he's fucking you better. Or you come home with white toenails after a pedicure with your friends and suddenly he's kissing your toes before he eats you out every. single. time. No brain ONLY boner from there on out.)

When he finally gets into the groove, tho (or in an automatic, non-curse AU), Sukuna is definitely picky about what kinds of designs and colors you get during mani-pedis. It's so weird of him because he's a full on evil CURSE, but I know he's walking into that salon right along with you and not just watching your toes get scrubbed and painting, but helping you pick out the colors and diamonds too....

He scrutinizes your poor nail tech sooo hard, one of those guys who takes off from the tip immediately if they accidentally nick you with the clippers, or file something a little too roughly. His inspection face is so funny, because even though he's supposed to be there spending time with YOU, his eyes are on your tootsies the whole time (like a freak).

You can convince him to let you get fun colors (and tbh, you ARE the one who put him onto including crystals or doing frenchies in the first place), but I know he's a such a particular man when it comes to making sure your nail colors are ALWAYS elegant. Loves a classic nude or pink, sometimes lets you experiments with white or a couple crystals... but the whole point is that he never has to see your feet covered again, only ever decorated and in strappy-heels for the rest of TIME.

(And don't even get me started on how much he gets off on watching you do your skincare, too. Anything to do with taking care of your body he loves, adores, is obsessed with; you doing your hair. Putting on your lotion or oils. Washing yourself, your leg up on the side of the bathtub.

Plus, he never wants to see you in makeup or shaving or anything of the sort. He only wants you bare and raw the way you were made... and yes that means he will buy you ¥50000 korean skincare essence but refuse to buy you foundation from the convenience store.)

just saw someone's tags wondering about the whole "conatus" thing on the teasers, which I was curious about as well

on a website that sells a.c.e's album, the explanatory text translates to: "In addition to deep considerations of the 'reasons for existence', this album portrays 'Conatus', which is the essence and core power[/energy] of all beings, as a love story and releases[/unwinds] it through A.C.E's characteristic comfortable music."

as for how they got this idea: idk, but if you look for the Korean word 의욕 (=drive, willingness to work, motivation) on Naver dictionary, you get 'ambition' and 'morale' as English translations first (which are both p vague) and then there's 'conatus', so maybe beat's people decided this matched their intended meaning the best

if you look up the English (/Latin) word 'conatus' itself, you'll encounter a philosophical term that was interpreted in a fairly wide variety of ways over the centuries but apparently boils down to persistence, self-preservation and/or drive

Day6: “The last three years was the time of self-reflection”

The South Korean band tell NME about their new mini-album ‘Fourever’ and how time away from the stage has reignited their love for music

In late-October, just hours after his discharge from the South Korean Navy, Kim Wonpil quietly resumed his idol duties. Sitting in the back of a van, still wearing his green military uniform, the sentimental Day6 member turned his head toward the camera beside him, softly touched his hand to his heart, and exhaled. “I’m really really really really happy,” he expressed. “Thinking about the four of us standing on stage… I think it would feel like something new.” It did feel new, in a way, but also the same. Upon reuniting in the studio in November, Sungjin, Young K, Wonpil and Dowoon – fresh from their respective military conscriptions and solo endeavours – fell back into a familiar rhythm, working on what would become their first album in three years, and their first album as a foursome, aptly titled ‘Fourever’. The music came naturally, as it almost always does for Day6, but their perspectives had shifted.

All that time away from the stage, away from one another, had reignited their passion for the band and redefined what it meant to each of them. The mini-album’s seven tracks reflect the aftermath of their soul-searching. “What we wanted to show was who we are at this moment,” Young K tells NME. And at this moment, amid an evening round of press interviews in Seoul, “It feels like we’re superstars,” drummer Dowoon jokes in English, always one to lighten the mood. Leader Sungjin, steady under pressure, veers the conversation in a more sensible direction, adding: “What we are at the moment is the band that does their best and will always do their best.” (Spoken like a man who says his idea of happiness is “a regular day full of mundane contentment”.) For Wonpil, this moment couldn’t come soon enough. As the last member of Day6 to enlist, the honey-voiced instrumentalist felt the weight of his members’ absences greatly. “I’ve been waiting for this day since I was in the military, before my release from the service,” Wonpil says. “I’ve been ready, and I’m really happy that this is happening right now.”

From the very first lyric of the album opener ‘Welcome to the Show’, it’s clear that this project is a reintroduction of sorts. “I’m so moved by the stage / That I won’t be alone any longer,” Young K sings, his voice wrapping around the melody with a newfound warmth. The song was the final addition to the album, having come together in an hour or two before being rewritten and reworked by Young K. But the essence remained the same. “There will be challenges in everybody’s lives,” Wonpil says of the song’s message. “But I hope this song, or maybe Day6, can help you overcome them.” Unlike some of the band’s more melancholic singles – the unbearable heartbreak of ‘You Were Beautiful’ and the timely existentialism of ‘Zombie’ come to mind – ‘Welcome to the Show’ is sonically brighter and lyrically sweeter and more affirming. Its anthemic sound was inspired by Young K’s experience on the summer festival circuit last year. “When I was going around, doing all the shows and performing songs like ‘Best Part’ or ‘Time of Our Life’, songs that make people jump and sing along, I felt like we needed that kind of track,” he says. ‘Welcome to the Show’ delivers on that front, aided by Dowoon’s thumping precision and a resonant pre-chorus chant that unites all four voices. “Usually, that kind of chant comes after the chorus, like a post-hook,” Young K describes. “It was our challenge to put it at the beginning of the chorus.” The band welcomed these challenges while making the record, together with their longtime collaborator Hong Ji-sang. “We were half excited and half fearful,” Dowoon smiles, describing the in-studio atmosphere by evoking their 2017 song ‘I Smile’. After years suspended in liminality, they wanted this mini-album to represent the here and now. “When we were writing this album, all of the songs were what we just wanted to try at the moment,” Young K says. They didn’t go in with any creative directive; their only goal was to “write good songs” and see what throughline emerged. After all, they’re not the ones who choose the single – they leave it to JYP Entertainment‘s top brass to decide. (If it were up to them, the members all have a particular fondness for ‘Happy’, a song that’s perhaps more in line with Day6’s signature bittersweet ethos.) “We just write the message or lyrics that suit the song the most,” the bassist explains.

The passage of time is a constant throughout. ‘Get The Hell Out’ wonders what life would be like if they could outrun the past (“time, hurry up and run fast / until you become a speckle far away”), while standout track ‘Sad Ending’ depicts the crumbling ruins of a relationship (“love’s expiration date has already passed”). And then there’s the closer “Didn’t Know,” a strumming ballad written that revisits the past with a new perspective (“I keep looking back at what can’t be reversed”). It makes sense that time would be at the forefront of their minds – the time they missed being together, the time they reclaimed for themselves while apart and the finite amount of time that hangs over every idol’s head in the K-pop industry. “The last three years was the time of self-reflection,” Sungjin says. Onstage, his voice bursts forth with grit and power; in person, he’s much softer. Before he enlisted in 2021, the guitarist took an extended hiatus from group activities in 2020 due to anxiety. It’s been four years since he’s performed with Day6, but the time away from the stage has allowed him to fall in love with performing again – and do so on his terms. “I think since I made my debut, I kind of lived to serve others. I put others before me. But for the last three years, I solely focused on myself. I thought a lot about myself, and I learned a lot about myself, and I grew as a result. I focused on discovering what my desires are and what I want at the moment, and I pursued it – I just did it.” Within that time, Young K, Wonpil and Dowoon debuted their sub-unit Day6 (Even of Day), releasing two projects in 2020 and 2021. Young K also went solo with the mini-album ‘Eternal’ later that summer before enlisting. Upon his return, he jumped back into songwriting, dropping his first full-length album ‘Letters with Notes’ in late 2023, while also penning tracks for K-pop acts like NMIXX, Jo Yu-ri and H1-KEY. He even performed at festivals with the sole focus of promoting Day6. “I learned a lot and thought a lot and experienced a lot,” he says. “It made me realise how much I want to do this.” “There has been growth, musically,” Young K adds. “While I was doing solo stuff, I would think about how to improve and how to put a Young K stage together. I tried to bring all of that into Day6. I really thought about how I could contribute what I learned from my individual work to the band. My main focus was promoting who we are, promoting Day6 by putting the name Day6 out there. To do that, I’m doing as much as I can, hoping that if people know who Young K is, then they’ll discover Day6. You don’t have to [choose] me as a bias…” he laughs. “Just please listen to Day6!”

Despite his obvious longing for the stage, Wonpil, who released his studio album ‘Pilmography’ in early 2022, found purpose in his service work. “There were a lot of long, strenuous activities involved but also meaningful work,” he says. “For example, I volunteered with the USS Nimitz-class aircraft carrier members.” Of course, working on ‘Fourever’ made him realise how much he “really, really, really loves Day6”. (And Overwatch, Young K teases.) Meanwhile, Dowoon, in addition to raising his plants (“They’re like my children,” he says in earnest), started asking himself more philosophical questions, thinking more deeply about himself, and getting introspective. “I spent a lot of time thinking about my place in the world and where I would be needed the most,” he says. “That thought led to an unhealthy state of mind, but I had a lot of time to ruminate on it, and in the end, I learned to love myself.” It’s why ‘Fourever’ is such a significant title for this chapter of their story. It’s more than the culmination of a four-year journey or a nod to their fans, My Day, who are celebrating their fourth anniversary. “It feels whole,” Young K says. In the music video for ‘Welcome To The Show’, there’s a scene in which Sungjin, Young K, Wonpil and Dowoon perform while looking at one another, their bodies turned inward with smiles on their faces. Like the endless knot featured on the album’s cover, it symbolises a sense of harmony and interconnectedness, an unbreakable bond tied in unity. At this moment, the four members of Day6 say, “It feels complete.”
