Happy Worldbuilding Wednesday! Let's talk about Hope. What are some of the things that inspire the people in your world? Certain gods or tales, annual festivals, a local cuisine that's worth traveling great distances for. Architectural wonders, fantastic destinations--what are some of the things people keep close to their hearts, that keep them going? (I know it's really open ended this week, sorry bout that XD I just really wanna see some Hope)
That's an AMAZING question, thank you so much. Let's go with the Bluebark Forest this time.
So if I haven't said before, the main inhabitants of the forest are the various Fae races, from fairies to elves to archfey and many others. The forest is organized in many different courts that overlap and run into each other. I think for the Fae of the world, they hold faith in the rigid traditions and rules of the court structure. The Fae are a logically minded group of humanoids, so their rules and social codes really help them figure things out.
In addition, the forest is a beautiful array of exotic and strange flora and fauna seen nowhere else. The forest is named the Bluebark because of a specific variety of tree that has a blue-green lichen slowly growing to cover the trees. There are flowers and plants of every size and color, and animals from the size of a dust mote to taller than the trees. Being surrounded by consistent beauty from the natural world also gives a kind of continual faith in the power and strength of the world to overcome any obstacles.
If anyone is interested, I could do an entire post on the races of the forest and the Fae court system, to me it's really cool!
Thanks again for the ask!!!

How to survive in the Land of the Water: mist and demons
The Hidden Mist is a place of mystery. Islanders who met bloodliners and counld not explain them, made stories about what they learned: Demons come from water and return to it, demon who appear and kill without a word.
Zabuza the Demon of the Mist, and Kisame the Monster of the Mist are not just titles, they are honorary terms: finally a demon quantifiable enough to have a name. Just follow the laws: Don't step in puddles that lay on the road after three days of dryness. When there are hand-prints in the wet beach, don't follow the trail. When strangers show a sharkteeth smile, only smile back with your mouth closed. Don’t pry. Go away as soon as possible.
Never, never, insult anyone - you don't know what you are insulting. Be polite. If you stick out your tongue to the wrong person, you tongue is all what remains
Should you find an Odd child all by itself, then ignore it. Ignore it as good as you can. If you're trapped, show it kindness. Poison it (a few crush leafs of Bluebark will do). Or wait until it's asleep and slit its throat. Make sure no one else saw. Never tell anyone. It's the only way to keep them from multiplying. It's the only way to fight back.
Adhere to the laws. Ours, and theirs.
Only when there is no, no other way at all... then go to the shinobi.
To find them, ask your lords or innkeepers. Write a will. Let the shinobi find you. If you go looking for their village, you won't find it. The few who returned alive said they only found it by accident.
Have enough money. Pay half now, the other half later. You can't always rely on them. You don't know if you are dealing with the purefolk, or the dirtbloods. Sometimes both are so cruel there is no difference. Never try to trick them.
If you need shinobi, go to Konoha, the scorching invaders. Yes, they burned our boats and our bridges. They killed our leaders and they have laws that keep us in poverty. But their ninjas are reliable. The only thing you need is a lot of money. Because not even the ninjas of the dryland will enter the dangerous Fog Isles.
Mind your own business, like any other citizen of the Land of the Water.
When you see something in the white mist, pretend you saw nothing.

The Forest’s Bounty
The dangling bulbs in the long grass, the gleaming fruit above the trial, about to fall, the brace of herbs between the roots, the glowing berries in the brush.
Tumblr media
Strangler Vines. Rotting bodies dangling from branches, a carpet of bones. Vines as thick as pythons begin to unwind from their tree-hosts. They reach down for your throat.
Burstberry. Small, red berries. Pluck them with care, the fruits explode if the skin is pierced or thrown or dropped. You see some dangling above you, ripe and ready to fall.
Ironbark. Thick brown trunks rippling with slivered veins. Its leaves clang in the breeze, grey and pointed and sharp. Daggers. They will fall if you approach.
Memory Berries. Pale berries that look like eyeballs. Each has a dark pupil that blinks. They retain a day’s worth of bionic data. Crush and drop the berry-juice into your eyes, and they will whisper to you in visions that reveal who passed through here, what plans were made, what goods were transported.
Glasstrunks. Translucent trunks of crystal, a delicate latticework of veins inside. If you brush against them or disturb them, they will emit a hollow ringing sound, like a wine glass, other trees nearby will do the same. Predators are alert to your presence. Somewhere, a sleeper awakes.
Fanged Fig. Twisted and gnarled with gaping, fanged mouths embedded in the trunks. Occasionally, they will cough up corpses and bones, trinkets and morsels.
Worchids. Strutting orchids on thin root-legs with laughing childlike heads, a line of them, cutting through the undergrowth, purpose unknown.
Bluebarks. Their bark pulses and shifts, blue, green, blue. It coils away, further up and around the tree, at your touch.
Leapleaves. Leaves detach from the branches above you, they flap and glide deeper into the forest, carrying messages, or migrating south, you can't be certain.
Shattercaps. Clusters of orange and red patterned fungi. Delicious. If eaten, they detonate. You breath out plumes of spores, odd lights glows at the back of your eyes, a whisper in your mind, do you obey?
Lampmoss. A grove of partially glowing trees, the moss gnaws at them, sparking. It can be used as light, but it will consume whatever it is placed in; lanterns, lamps.
Antitrees. A latticework of roots erupting from the ground. Idly moving, undulating. These trees grow in reverse, the branches burrow into the earth, their flower and fruits blooming underground, searching out darkness.
Fossilised trees. Old and thick and utterly still. Not growing or decaying. Fruits still ripe, flowers half-bloomed, leaves caught in the air as they fell. An entire grove of them, unmoving.
Sidewinders. These trees grow horizontally, snaking around tree trunks and under logs, searching for sunlight. They bask in the patches of light, and follow it’s movement throughout the day. At night,  their trunks curl up like snakes to wait for morning.
Briefbloom. These trees shoot up above the canopy in the morning; unfurl beautiful flowers and succulent fruits, and are dead by evening. Only will one grows in a year, a witch hoards these fruits.
Carniflowers. They grow in marshes amongst the reeds. Their leaves are fanged and sharp. You see sluggish movement and hear whispers from within their trunks.
Waterleaf. Their bulbs are fat and blue, they detach and contain a whole days supply of water.
Weepwood. Tears of sap drip down the trunk, in different hues, staining the wood.
Wildroot. It’s roots explode from the mulch below and bloom into root-cages. They claw and pull you downwards. Used as traps by the forest dwellers.
Corpseflower. These plants grow out of wounds of corpses, they bloom into violent red flowers, whispering last wishes and warnings.

Happy Worldbuilding Wednesday! What is the significance of dreams in your worldbuilding? Do they come from somewhere? Are they influenced by any outside forces? Are they magic? Are some of them real? And dont forget their darkside: nightmares. Tell us all about the things that go on while people sleep.
Oo I love this, thank you so much.
There are 2 most frequent kind of dreams or nightmares: magical and non-magical. Magical ones are invariably sent from Evlezen, the only real god of the world (all others are just a sort of mask she hides behibd). They're prophetic dreams, dreams where she gets to toy with them for fun, or just scare the shit out of whatever mortal she wants to break that day. The non-magical dreams are just everyday dreams and nightmares like we would have in this world. They can signify things in the subconscious of the person, or just be their brain resting. Although there are some places that can make your dreams more active, like in the Bluebark Forest.
Thank you so much for the question, feel free to ask any followups!
