Let me tell you a little something. A bit of wisdom. You know those Alt-right Christian guys who act like Crusaders reclaiming the holy land from the Jews? The Mecha Tankie "Patriotic socialist" guys who say that modern russia and donald trump are left wing revolutionaries? The weird Monarchist "Christ, Aristocracy and Virtue." Guys on places like here and r/monarchism? The schizo Hyperborea pagan neo-nazi guys who talk about the great aryan spirit?

Let me let you into a little something.

They don't actually believe in anything. It's all aesthetic to them. They don't actually think about how these things tend to work out. They just want something to believe in that looks cool. Let me tell you how it goes.

Capitalism and Patriarchy grinds down upon the souls of boys and young men. The expectations of fulfilling ideal masculinity and being wealthy breaks them down. I can attest to this personally. Young men start wanting freedom and to stand out but they don't know who to blame or what to do. Instead of doing something healthy like cooking or watching mob psycho 100 and vinland saga or going to the gym they become addicted to niche ideologies and aesthetics.

They become attracted to the aesthetic of crusaders or the aesthetic of communism or the aesthetic of monarchy or the aesthetic of being schizo. It's also part of why they virtue signal about traditional masculinity and bodybuilding so much. They want to feel masculine.

I'm not blaming young men for having an identity crisis and becoming radicalized. I honestly blame the adults that feed them pseudo intellectual bullshit that sounds legit that feeds into their aesthetic. I just don't see a lot of 40 year olds who voted reagan posting groyper memes and chud wojaks while religiously watching nick fuentes or being radicalized because of bridget from guilty gear.

This applies to both minorities and white people. There's this fascist columbian latino guy on twitter who i constantly think about who RPs as a white nietszchean traditional hellenist who worships Zeus and aristocracy and hates jews and christ for being not masculine enough and there's this British Fascist guys who RPs as a japanese imperialist fascist shintoist for some reason and i think both are like this for the same reason.

adhd ramble time!!!

so i'm researching significant films from queer history right, bc i already have an interest in that and also bc of this queer media archive nick and i are working on (see my pinned post)

anyways i found the silent film Salomé (1922), which stars Alla Nazimova (generally went by just Nazimova), a Russian Jewish sapphic silent film star. several of the female characters are played by men in drag and there were supposedly several gay cast members but yk. altogether the film is not extremely canonically queer but is definitely one of those queercoded fun experimental things from the silent era. it's impressive though, and a very expensive and cool-looking production (watch here)

so i decided to research nazimova who as it turns out was in a lavender marriage for a while and had several relationships with women. her most steady girlfriend was Glesca Marshall, another actress, who lived with her in the hotel nazimova established and then sold off, the legendary Garden of Allah Hotel. marshall was later buried with another girlfriend, Emily Woodruff. interestingly, nazimova's goddaughter was Nancy Davis, who would eventually marry Ronald Reagan. yeah.

another of nazimova's girlfriends was the surrealist/magical realist painter Bridget Bate Tichenor, who was at one point the editor of Vogue, was influenced by and in turn influenced several huge names in the surrealist movement, and. wow. check out her paintings!!! that's so cool!!!

What The Reagans Think of Brie

Henry. At first, Henry didn’t really like her. He was skeptical. “What kind of person dyes her hair pink?” But all that went away when he watched her down a double shot of whiskey without flinching.

Frank. He doesn’t like her at all. She’s too loud, too crass, too opinionated…

Mary. She’s conflicted. She thinks Brie is very sweet, but she agrees with Frank. Brie is a little too loud and a little too crass for her liking.

Danny. He didn’t have a preconceived opinion of Brie. To him, she was just Linda’s slightly crazy roommate. He perfectly described her as a rose; once you get past the thorns, she’s really nice

Linda. Linda’s the lucky one; she went in not knowing a thing, so she couldn’t possibly have an opinion. She liked Brie almost from the very start, and now they’re the best of friends.

Erin. Erin pretty much liked Brie until “Brie changed”. Brie didn’t change, Erin did. Because of that, they don’t get along anymore

Joe. Joe thought she was hot lol. He actually developed a really bad crush on her. Lucky for him, Brie thought he was cute. So in the early 2000s, they had a brief summer fling. They remained friends until his death

Jamie. Jamie was a little apprehensive of her; like viewing a tiger. She was this, like, mysterious entity that sounded equal parts insane and the best person.

Bonus: Eddie. Eddie doesn’t like Brie. There’s no real reason why. She just doesn’t like her

What Brie Thinks of the Reagans

Henry. She loved him almost right away. He’s the cool grandpa. Whenever she and Harry come over for dinner, she always has whiskey with Henry.

Frank. She despises this man. She just got bad vibes first time she met him (the vague things Linda said offhandedly didnt help Frank’s case). Since Frank was always short and rude with her, she was short and rude with him.

Mary. She thought Mary was way too submissive to Frank and Henry, but Brie could see a fire in her. Overall she liked Mary, and came to the funeral/wake

Danny. She wouldn’t say she hated Danny at first, but she certainly didn’t take to him right away. She thought the way he treated people was just because he was a major asshole. But once she realized it was because of his unresolved trauma and undiagnosed ptsd, she gave him some slack. Plus, he was as much of a sarcastic asshole as she was.

Linda. She liked Linda right away. She thinks Linda lets Danny get away with too much. Linda is her best friend

Erin. She liked Erin… at first. She thought that Erin was a bit of a bitch, and as time went on, Erin became a bigger bitch. Erin says Brie changed, but it’s the other way around. They don’t speak to each other anymore

Joe. She thought Joe was funny, like a puppy. He followed her around whenever she visited. But he was also very much a gentleman. She knew he had a crush on her, so, eventually, she gave in to his desires and they had a summer fling

Jamie. She doesn’t like Jamie anymore. She originally thought that he was a goody two shoes, and that was absolutely accurate. He’s even more of a goody two shoes now. They don’t get along

Bonus: Eddie. She hated Eddie. Ever since they first met, she could tell something was off about her. Brie can’t pinpoint it, but she can’t ignore the really bad vibes
