Ten has always been overly affectionate. In the eyes of Weishennies, Winwin and Yangyang bear the brunt of it. On variety shows and lives Ten can sometimes be found floating around one of his two didis or entirely attached to them. It’s become a joke among fans and members, the way Ten calls Yangyang baby while the maknae responds with countless protests and whines. But something fans are unaware of is that off-camera, the Thai male’s affection extends to all the members. Ten is known to demand touches from most any friend in reach. Even Kun, despite the pairs’ constant bickering. The WayV members have grown used to Ten’s insatiable need to hold and be held. There’s a silent understanding between the 7 roommates. All the boys know that comforting Ten is just more of a physical thing. Each member understands, and some have even become fond of the actions. Most surprisingly Winwin. Though he seems like a total skinship anti, he’s all smiles whenever Ten envelopes him in a hug.

For the endless love and acceptance of his bandmates, Ten feels so incredibly blessed. But even in such a wonderful situation, there are things Ten can’t have. And lines he dare not cross.

To Ten, there’s nothing inherently romantic or sexual about his lingering touches. To him, spooning with his friends is his way of showing platonic affection. Obviously some things are reserved for romantic/sexual partners: making out and things of the like. But the lines between friendship and partnership are far thinner to him than most. He hasn’t told his friends about his affinity for kisses, having only recently come to terms with it himself. All through his life he’s had these fleeting urges to kiss his friends, and he’d always passed them off as intrusive thoughts. But lately, these urges have become more persistent. When his members are especially kind to him, he feels his attention float briefly to their lips, wishing to give them a small peck. It’s always a peck. A forehead kiss, eskimo, cheek, knuckle, nose; always something innocent. A mere grazing of lips to skin. No matter how innocent the intent or the action, Ten can’t help but feel completely and utterly ashamed.

Friends aren’t supposed to want to kiss each other, he chides to himself. The dancer already feels like enough of a bother asking to cuddle and hold hands, he fears that by taking the extra step, he’ll lose all 6 of them entirely. So he pushes these feelings deep down, and continues on, hoping the others don’t notice his worry.

Unfortunately for Ten, Kun prides himself on being in tune with his members’ emotions. Kun first realizes something is wrong during one of the group’s rare off days. He and Ten had opted to stay home, the younger practically BEGGING him to continue watching Doctor Who with him. The two eldest boys have been watching it together for a couple months, and have already plowed through 2 seasons (that’s quite impressive considering how packed their schedules are). Since it’s nearly impossible to refuse Ten anything, Kun finds himself lazing the day away on the couch, carding his fingers through the soft brown locks strewn across his lap.

“Fuck. Everything,” Ten says after they finish the season 2 finale. “Whoever made this episode is a monster.”

Kun giggles, leaning down to wipe stray tears from Ten’s cheeks. “You knew it had to end eventually Tennie.”

“YEAH BUT THAT WAS SO M E A N!” Ten removes his head from Kun’s lap as the older laughs harder. “It’s not funny!” The Thai man pouts, only eliciting more laughter.

“Aw you poor thing,” Kun teases, pushing himself off the couch and holding a expectant hand out to the pouting brunette. “C’mon you big baby. Let me make you something to cheer you up.”

Never one to turn down free food, Ten trudges to the kitchen and sits down at the table while his ge gets to work. Ten watches Kun work for 15 minutes before turning to the table and placing a bowl of noodles in front of Ten. The younger looks up at the singer then, an almost indecipherable look on his face. In those few seconds of silence, Kun sees hesitation in Ten’s eyes, an uncharacteristic moment of pause. It’s like Ten wants to do something but he’s restraining himself. Then all too quickly, the look is gone. Ten thanks Kun for the meal before scarfing it down.

Kun doesn’t bring it up then, or when he sees the same look directed at Hendery the next night while they’re playing Monopoly. He waits a week before finally confronting the boy, having seen the same hesitant gaze 5 or more times by now.

He decided to confront him after their biweekly Just Dance tournament. Kun and Ten were on a team together and kicking everyone else’s asses. After winning their 4th consecutive battle they’d hugged victoriously. When they pulled back, Ten had “the look” written all over his face. And without warning, he pecked Kun on the nose.

Oh.

Ten stood straight in horror, he didn’t even give Kun a chance to say anything before bolting out of the room. The 5 other members followed him with eyes full of worry and concern. They’re only semi-placated with Kun’s promise of “I’ll talk to him.”

Kun opened the door to Ten and Hendery’s shared room to see Ten facing the wall dejectedly, curled tightly into his blankets. The older made sure he moved softly and quietly, not wanting to spook the boy. He sat himself on the bed across from Ten’s huddled figure, not missing the other boy’s flinch. Kun lays down behind the boy, wrapping his arms around his middle.

“I’m not mad Yongqin, if that’s what you’re worried about,” Kun uses Ten’s Mandarin name, knowing the younger loves the way it rolls off his tongue. “I just want to understand, ok?” The older rubs soothing circles on Ten’s arm with his finger.

“I’m sorry,” Ten whispers, almost imperceptibly quiet.

“Qinqin I told you there’s nothing to be s--”

“No but I am sorry,” Ten says, turning himself in Kun’s hold to face the older, but still not making eye contact. “I-I shouldn’t have done that.”

“I could tell it was bothering you.” Kun says, raising the eyebrow of the dancer.

“Yeah?”

“Yeah,” Kun confirms. “So do you have a crush on me?”

“Not at all,” Ten says honestly. He fiddles with his fingers between their parallel chests rather than meet Kun’s gaze. “I just… hhh I don’t know how to begin to explain it.”

“Take your time.” Kun assures which Ten is exceedingly grateful for. Kun has always been patient and level-headed that way.

“It’s kinda like… you know how you hug your friends? To show them you care about them?” Kun nods easily. “Well, for me… kissing is kinda equivalent to a hug with a friend. It’s just...my way of showing affection I guess,” Kun nods again, taking in every word Ten says. “It became apparent a few months ago. But I didn’t want to bother you guys with it, so I kept quiet. And I know it’s weird and it’s really no big deal if you don’t want to I can--”

“Ten.”

“Yeah, It’s too much isn’t it? Can we just pretend this never happened? I’m really sor--”

“Ten.”

“Look Kun don’t worry about it. It’s really fine. I just want to--”

“Yongqin.”

Ten finally ceases his baseless ranting. Kun rubs up and down the boy’s upper arms.

“Ten it’s fine. I never said I disliked it. If platonic kisses are something you want… something you need,” Kun smiles lightly. “Then I don’t see a problem with that.”

This time Ten actually does look Kun in the eye, cat-like eyes wide with disbelief. “What?”

“Just explain to me what you need Yongqin,” Kun whispers understandingly, and for some reason it makes Ten blush a little. “I’m all ears.”

Ten was left completely dumbfounded. He had just proposed something… crazy.... and yet Kun isn’t running. He doesn’t seem weirded out, or scared, or disgusted. He’s still there.

“U-um…” Ten starts. “Just… small ones, I guess. Like cheek, nose, knuckles, forehead, hair, that kind of stuff,” Kun processes all this again. “A-and pecks on the lips are nice sometimes… i-if that’s not too much.”

Kun shakes his head and smiles, “Sounds good to me!” And to punctuate it, he places a small kiss on Ten’s forehead, setting the boy’s cheeks aflame once more.

“T-Thanks,” He says genuinely.

“Of course Tenten,” The older contemplates giving him another kiss for assurance, but he decides that he shouldn’t overwhelm Ten too much just yet. “Anything for you.”

Seijoh Manager Headcanons:

Alright so by SOME miracale you manage to sneak your way into being Seijohs manager, which the whole team is pretty surprised by.

Save for maybe Oikawa - who got you the position - or Iwaizumi.

I say this because there’s literally NO WAY, with Oikawas reputation, that they let just some random person be manager for the sake of making goo goo eyes at him all through out practice.

They made this mistake during his first year and it didn’t take long for them to learn their lesson.

So the only way you’re manager is if you’ve known Oikawa your whole life and therefore are aware of how annoying he is, or if you’re related to him. Let’s go with the former. Because I love the childhood friends cliche that’s my SHIT.

So if you’ve known Oikawa since childhood, you’ve definitely known Iwaizumi since childhood. Therefore, the coaches let you on the team not only because Oikawa knew you, but Iwaizumi put in a good word for you as well.

Doesn’t matter if you have other hobbies or interests in clubs, Oikawa is dragging you into this whether you like it or not.

You’re already familiar with the third years upon taking up the manager position, so they’re not too intimidating. Matsukawa didn’t really talk to you much at first but you both bonded over poking fun at Oikawa and a mutual love of memes.

You have a photo of oikawa sneezing where he looks absolutely atrocious that you “accidentally” sent into the group chat once. Makki and Mattsun use it religiously as a reaction image. Oikawa hates it.

You don’t talk to your fellow first years too muc, except for Watari, who’s pretty friendly. Kunimi doesn’t seem to interested in conversation and Kindaichi visibly tenses up whenever you try to talk to him, so you figured you’d have the coming years to bond with them.

Oh, and did I mention? You get invited to all the Seijoh sleepovers.

Since you’ve been friends with Oikawa your whole life, sleep overs weren’t a new thing for you. His whole family knows and adores you and you have your own seperate room at the Oikawas so your parents aren’t worried about you sleeping in a room full of teenage boys.

These sleepovers are absolute chaos

Every sleepover cliche you can name? You’ve done it. Pillow fights? Check. Often ends in bruises and ice packs. Nerf Gun wars? Iwaizumi always wins. Mario Kart? Makki plays dirty. Monopoly? Who will land on board walk this time? Trick question the answer is Mattsun. Wii sports? That’s your shit. Oikawa never wins at anything. He hates it. But he does build the best pillow forts, courtesy of all his practice with Takeru.

You’ve definitely heard every one of these boys rip ass. Even Oikawa. Sorry, I don’t make the rules. If you think for one second that they’re gonna hold it in because you’re around you’ve got another thing coming hon. Once you’re all in a private setting together all bets are off.

Jealous fan girls definitely bombard you with questions of what it’s like to be around “Oikawa-senpai” all the time, and say how lucky you are to get to be around him every day. Oh the things you could tell them, you could ruin this whole man’s career. Some even come up to you for advice on how to ask him out?? And that’s never something you know how to answer.

Kyotani’s strange respect for Iwaizumi is one of the most baffling things you’ve ever seen. You’ve tried to figure it out but honestly you don’t think you ever will. He’s an enigma and avoids you at all costs. prolly bc you’re a girl and he’s intimidated by you lmao

He still respects you tho. More than he does oikawa at least HA

By the middle of the year Kunimi and Kindaichi are progressively warming up to you and you now have a first years group chat and sit together at lunch at least twice a week. Kunimi seems to gravitate to you more than Kindaichi but you don’t push it.

You are team mom. Oikawa jokingly got you and Iwaizumi matching mom and dad sweatshirts that say “Team Mom” and “Team Dad” on them. Iwaizumi refuses to wear his but you’re more willing to play along and will wear it when you go out with the team for ramen after games.

Iwaizumi wore it to one of the sleepovers once and you forced him to take a live picture with the both of you showing off the sweatshirts.

It’s now your lock screen background and he grumbles every time he sees it.

He seceretly loves it. Good luck getting him to admit it tho.

Oikawa has a pic of you asleep on iwa-chan’s shoulder with the sweaters on and he thinks it’s one of the most adorable things in the world. The best part is, Iwaizumi wouldn’t stop him because he was too worried about waking you up, so he just sat there and let it happen. What a sweetheart. Oikawa thinks himself a master comedian.

One upside to being seijohs manager is that fuck boys stay the hell away from you. They just automatically assume you’re dating Oikawa which is bothersome to an extent, but if it keeps the thots away you have no reason to complain. Even those that don’t think that are usually too intimidated to approach you because your friend group is essentially the seijoh volley ball team.

However a downside is that you never really know who’s befriending you for the sake of trying to get closer to oikawa which is a bit of a bummer. You’ve grown pretty skeptical of your peers and sadly your friends outside the volleyball team are far and few between.

That’s okay tho because they fill up a huge hole in your heart and you couldn’t ask for a better, or more entertaining group of people to surround yourself with.

It was a huge hit when they didn’t make it to championships though and it was even worse watching the the third years leave never having achieved their goal.

You knew you’d always have oikawa, he was basically family to you and by default you’d always have Iwaizumi. But Mattsun and Makki were going on different paths, and despite knowing them for only a year they had effectively made their way into your heart.

Oikawa is the most dramatic about it though, pulling you into a bone crushing hug and refusing to let go of you despite all your protests.

There’s one last goodbye sleepover for the whole team, Iwaizumi even wears his dad sweatshirt one last time for the occasion. There’s mario kart and wii sports, monopoly and nerf wars, and no one is able to sleep that night, not even Kyotani.

It’s a bittersweet goodbye and you didn’t expect to be this emotionally moved by the end of the year.

You keep in constant contact with oikawa and iwaizumi following their graduation (which you attended) and make sure to spend lots of time with them as well as mattsun and makki whenever they return for breaks. There are still sleepovers with the five of you, but the rest of the team as well as the new set of first years are less inclined to participate now that oikawa isn’t the captain anymore.

Oikawa still visits the team every once and a while to pester Yahaba about his role as captain, making sure he was doing a good job filling his shoes. He’ll even participate in practices and teach whoever’s the new setter how to cater to their spikers. It’s pretty wholesome to witness. Makes you miss the old days.

Ngl I don’t know how i’m feeling about these, but I can’t think too much about it or I’ll chicken out on posting :/

OTP Questions

Thanks for tagging me @addictedtodrakefanfic, and thanks for building this list of questions @mskaneko! I always find things like this crazy fun!

1. What other couple would your OTP get along with?

Like, in universe? They get along very well with Liam and Iris (who I will write more about going forward), although Iris and Riley are closer in the It Couldn’t Wait Another Moment universe even though they see each other in person less often.

2. Do either of them have secrets even the other doesn’t know?

Not really, most things have a way of coming out with these two, and most of their “secrets” aren’t something they intended to keep from the other, it just never came up in conversation. The closest is probably that Drake slept with a woman Riley knows at court years before they met, but when Drake tried to tell her, Riley said ignorance was bliss and that she did not want to know that detail.

3. Who is the one that sees the big picture, while the other focus on the small details?

Riley is a big picture optimist (”everything will sort itself out” type of thought pattern most of the time) usually, whereas Drake tends to focus on the details, even though they often frustrate him.

4. Who does stuff on impulse?

The one who moved to Cordonia with guys she’d known for less than 24 hours on a whim, hahaha!

5. What is their favourite holiday?

Drake loves Christmas, Riley loves Halloween.

6. What is their favourite board game?

Drake prefers card games, but he does enjoy Risk quite a bit (Riley refuses to play with him because she finds it painfully dull). Riley likes Clue and Monopoly.

7. Who would go out of their way to do something silly to make their partner laugh?

Riley

8. Favorite canon moment of them?

When Drake asks Riley if things would be different between them if they met under different circumstances after the Tariq incident. The moment is such a perfectly vulnerable one for him, that it just holds a special place in my heart.

9. Least favorite canon moment of them?

“I don’t know what to say. My kid sitting on the throne? I mean, it would be an incredible honor.” - Drake Walker, on his honeymoon, agreeing to King Liam’s plan to name his yet-to-be-conceived child heir to the Cordonian throne before discussing it with Riley.

10. Who is the competitive one?

They are both incredibly competitive. They both insist the other one is more competitive.

11. Who likes to go on drives to nowhere in particular

Seeing as Riley never got a driver’s license growing up in Manhattan and feels incredibly uncomfortable behind the wheel, we’ll go with Drake here. I could see him doing this to clear his head on trips to Texas.

12. Who sings along with the radio?

Riley will if she’s in a good mood. Drake will if he’s drunk.

13. Who would accidentally set the kitchen on fire while cooking?

Riley. Not only is she a mediocre cook, but she’s more easily distracted and might tend to forget she left something on the stove.

14. Who is more seductive when they are drunk?

Drake gets really affectionate and cuddly when drunk, but whiskey dick is a thing so... Riley is a happy drunk primarily (unless she is drinking to cope in which case she is a very sad drunk), not so much a horny drunk. She does get pretty handsy when she’s just tipsy, though.

15. Who wakes the other up in the middle of the night to tell them a cool dream they had?

Neither. Riley is difficult to wake up, so Drake wouldn’t bother when he could just tell her later. Drake is such a light sleeper that Riley wouldn’t want to be one more disruption to his sleep just to tell him about an interesting dream.

16. Who asks weird questions in the middle of the night?

Riley, if they’re both still awake. Otherwise neither.

17. Who likes to walk around the house naked and who tells the other to go put some clothes on?

Okay, so all this makes me think of is the Seinfeld episode where Jerry is dating a woman who chooses to be naked all the time and it brings up the discussion of good naked and bad naked. Riley is prone to stripping down for “good naked” tasks pretty often. Sometimes it’s just to flirt and tease, but other times it’s to persuade Drake to do something he doesn’t want to do. He catches on to this tactic pretty quickly, so he will tell her to cover up and that it isn’t going to work if he suspects she has ulterior motives. This behavior pretty much comes to a halt once Riley is pregnant as she isn’t as confident given the changes that are occurring to her body, and after they have a kid, nudity as a flirting and/or manipulation technique just doesn’t happen all that often.

18. Who is always ready to have sex at any time, at any place?

Both of them, although Drake won’t at his work functions/parties in the It Couldn’t Wait Another Moment universe because he’s too nervous they’ll get caught and he’ll get fired.

19. Who likes to surprise the other with a lot of small random gifts?

They both buy each other things, but Drake’s gifts to Riley are more practical (he’ll grab her granola bars or creamer before she runs out) whereas Riley chooses more random fun items that just made her think of Drake.

20. Where did they take their first picture together?

Maxwell snapped a pic of them walking back from the first cronut run together.

Neither, but Drake is far more likely to try and downplay his birthday. Riley never lets that happen.

I don’t know if these are truly bad habits or just irritating ones, but Drake cracks his knuckles absentmindedly, which can get on Riley’s nerves, and Riley never returns food to the same spot in the refrigerator, which really annoys Drake.

24. Who is the better driver ?

Definitely Drake. Riley doesn’t really drive, though Drake has attempted to teach her during trips to Texas. She’s just not that interested in learning.

25. Who is more likely to admit they are wrong in an argument ?

This is a struggle for both of their stubborn asses. Drake is more likely to say he’s wrong, but Riley truly means it more often when she says it.

26. What is something that reminds them of one another?

The smell of peaches reminds Drake of Riley. Probably an obvious answer, but whiskey reminds Riley of Drake.

27. Would they get matching couple tattoos? If yes, what it would be?

Nope, neither one of them are tattoo people.

Neither. Both prefer just a sheet and a thin blanket, plus a quilt/comforter if it’s winter.

Riley’s agility and impressive aim give her the slight edge.

Riley would be more likely to do this

In canon, Drake goes fishing at a small creek between the capital and Valtoria. Riley goes to the undercroft area of their estate. If they are looking to get away together, they go camping on the grounds of their estate, cycling between a few different locations so it’s harder for the staff to track them down.

In It Couldn’t Wait Another Moment, Riley is very willing to share “her beach” with Drake. If they are looking for a longer getaway together, they’ll rent a car and get out of the city to go camping.

32. If they got to pick what one another wears for a day, what would one another wear?

Riley likes seeing Drake dressed up in a simple suit since it’s a break from the usual. Navy would be her preferred color. Drake would have Riley wear a slim cut red dress with a length short enough to be sexy but not so short that he feels that everyone is going to be checking her out.

44. What do they love most about each other?

Drake loves that Riley has a bit of a temper, but uses it for “good,” such as calling out stuck up, snobby assholes (He loves that she swears up a storm with her temper, too). Riley loves the way nothing she can say or do phases him.

Bonus: 3 random HC about your OTP

In canon, they host a Superbowl party every year, even though neither one of them really cares about American football, because Riley feels this is one America tradition they can still embrace without it being seen as a “thing” by the press (They drew some flack when they tried to have a July 4th barbecue with fireworks because that was seen as too political)

In It Couldn’t Wait Another Moment, they attempted to rent a cabin to get out of the city for a couple of nights around New Year’s Eve to escape the insanity that first year, but Riley did not have a driver’s license and Drake’s Cordonian license was deemed insufficient, so they had to text Liam to emergently transmit them some additional documentation. He essentially just wrote a three sentence letter on stationary with the royal seal stating that Drake had a driver’s license in good standing.

In any universe, they will intermittently have intense poker nights (just the two of them), that devolve into drunken rounds of strip poker and insane bets.

You, Chance and Gavin meet at the first table read for CAOS

An hour into meeting eachother and the you guys are already harassing eachother on instagram.

Chance and Gavin are just drawn to you.

And your oblivious self is just having fun chatting and getting to know your new costars.

By the time you start filming the rest of cast has hella profiled you guys and are figuring out how it's gonna turn out.

To be honest some bets have been made.

Gavin and Chance are always trying to have your attention.

Making you laugh is a favorite for both of them.

Always standing closer to you than normal.

You are all trying to make a move but it would be messy to work with eachother especially since you have to choose one.

The chemistry is undeniable and it's decided that you three will be doing your press tour together.

Being together a lot makes you guys get closer. Even after you guys are done you still hang out together.

All the time.

So much hugging and platonic cuddling.

Once day your cuddled up against Gavin and Chance is laying on your lap and Keirnan just says it.

"Why don't you guys date already?"

You look at her confused, "Who?"

She waves her hands towards you guys in annoyance, "I'm not saying Y/N has to choose. You all should just be together so you can stop this "platonic" bullshit."

Chance sits up and looks at you guys in question.

Later that night you talk it through and realize you could actually make this work.

Tati wins the bet that the cast had going on.

Now all you have to worry about is keeping this relationship from the press.

Which isn't easy. Fans know you and the boys are close but you can't anticipate what'll happen once it's public.

Lots of private dates: movie night, making dinner together, and etc.

Nap dates cause sometimes you're all just exausted.

Usually includes you on Chance's chest while Gavin spoons you. Or the other way around.

Public "dates" are messy.

No kissing, no holding eachother too long, no to basically anything that'll be photographed and misused.

But that shit doesn't last long.

One day Gavin's doing an insta live and your hungover ass walks into the frame wearing shorts and a bra.

Then Chance comes over to take you out of the shot in only his boxers.

Ky + Disney World: a magical journey or whatever?

someone requested fewer posts so y’all get one giant summary of my trip. mmmyup. gonna be image heavy as FUCK. sorry ‘bout that. we’ll go park-by-park, i’ll try to be as brief as possible! click the cut for the deets and junk!

Day 1: Hollywood Studios

This is where I dressed up as Mickey Mouse. It was the day we focused the most on my brother cause most of the Star Wars stuff is here. I kinda mentioned the storm trooper story, but in detail:

We had spent all day tracking down storm troopers cause they were basically the only face characters my brother wanted to see. But they were closed to taking pictures. Plus they kept slipping away from us anyway.

So eventually we were hanging around the Star Wars area and we happened to run into them. And mom asked “can you please take a picture with my son now?” So one of the Storm Troopers grabs my brother by the shoulder and walks off with him and mom’s like freeeaking out and like they take him to this wall and are like interrogating him like “you’re not with the resistance are you?” I’m recording and all that jazz and eventually they turn to me and are like “you with the camera, get over here” (so MY VIDEO actually goes to black lmao but u can still hear them talking to us). It was a blast; later on we were in line to meet Chewey and they saw us and were like “I’m WATCHING you.”

Meeting Mickey and Minnie was a blast. Minnie was absolutely adorable I LOVED her dress and she was bashful and friendly and gave lots of hugs. Mickey on the other hand was bold but still friendly, and the best part was even though he wasn’t matching my outfit, on my way out? He stopped me, gestured out my outfit, and gave me the okay hand. It. Was. The GREATEST.

Cute little side note... they’re dressed from movies they apparently directed and produced for each other. CHECK IT OUT!

ALSOS. We ate at the 50′s place here. IT. WAS. AMAZING. Everyone was RIDICULOUSLY in character; if you were on your phone they told you to “get off the walkie talkie, this is family time!” and if you had your elbows off the table they would get on you for that too, but like... it was still fun? Three strikes and you have to get up and sing a song. None of us got three strikes but the guy at the table next to us did. He had to sing and dance “I’m a little teapot” and it was honestly the highlight of my day. xD Oh and no desert if you don’t finish your plate. The catch? THEY SERVE HUGE-ASS PORTIONS. Seriously I ordered the fried chicken and asked for all dark meat? TWO LEGS AND TWO THIGHS, A SERVING OF POTATOES AND A SERVING OF CORN OK?????? I cleaned my plate tho 83. Mama was proud of me.

Day 2: Animal Kingdom

Yo Animal Kingdom was lit as FUCK. Literally the Tree of Life was THE COOLEST SHIT. And there were PEOPLE DANCING in each area, that was pretty tight too!

We went to the Tusker House which was awesome cause Mickey, Donald, Daisy, and Goofy were all there and they went to EVERY table for pictures and autographs. (Awesome cause I didn’t have to hunt down Goofy!) There was this ADORABLE moment where Daisy walked by Donald and blew him a kiss. Seriously the cutest thing I saw the whole trip.

(I seriously can’t find my Donald picture. Uhhhh good thing I don’t like him that much??? Oops????)

Also, we saw the River of Light but... I was passed out for most of it uh... yeah OTL.

Day 3: Epcot

Let me just say that I ADORED Epcot. And it was where I met my favorite princess so I can’t really complain there. I really loved going through all the countries and seeing all the authentic merch, although it was kind of a :’c that there wasn’t more merch of each princess ya? That aside, let’s talk about Jasmine!

Definitely my favorite encounter, and not just because she’s my favorite princess, but because she was SO interactive. She IMMEDIATELY recognized that I was dressed at her; “You look like me!” But then right after, she noticed my Rajah Tsum Tsum, and she FREAKED OUT. She was like, “YOU HAVE A LITTLE RAJAH!” and she asked me if it was actually Rajah or just a tiger, and I assured her it was a Disney Authentic Rajah. She asked where I got it, I told her it was the last Rajah on Amazon, and you can see her squeezing it and her little “aw” face, like she freaked out over Rajah for quite a bit. At a point, she touched my headband and said “I can see you have more jewels on your head than me; you must’ve gone to the Cave of Wonders!” I thought that was the cutest. The BEST part though, was when mom came up. She was wearing a red top, so Jasmine noted that mom “look[ed] like me when I dressed up for Jafar!” and so I said, “we don’t talk about when you dressed up for Jafar.” So she leaned in and whispered, “Well. Aladdin likes to talk about it sometimes.” And I just gaped at her. At which point she added, presumably hoping to make it better, “Only on special occasions, though!” And I just... lost it. And that was the note we ended on lmaO.

Day 4: Magic Kingdom

Now okay. Magic Kingdom is DEFINITELY where we did and saw the most. I mean we ACTUALLY stayed all day and I mean it’s Magic freaking Kingdom. There was so much to do and see I don’t even know where to start.

(Okay well. Dad made this decision for me since he has some of the pictures and he just HECKING GOT ON THE ROAD TO ARKANSAS WITHOUT TELLING ME. So yeah... some of the things we won’t have pictures of for now. That’s okay there’s a LOT of MK content.)

First thing: THE MOTHER HECKING PARADES. They did these multiple times per day--I actually got to see the Vamos! one twice. (That song has been stuck in my head, actually... watch with caution.) Seriously, they’re SO fun to watch--it’s the only time I remember hearing Mickey and the Gang talk, actually...

TIANAAAA, she was great, I almost cried tbh, seeing her there. If only they had merch to match amirite. She was so sweet, she pointed out that I was wearing green like her and flowers like her and when I told her I dressed up like her on purpose she gave me a HIGH FIVE!

I also got to meet Rapunzel, since she was in the same room as Tiana. She was a sweetie pie, she saw my first visit button and was like “that reminds me of my first visit to MY kingdom” and invited me to go see the floating lanterns, which I equated to the fireworks show at the end of the night. (Which was GLORIOUS by the way.)

Other relevant things: we got to eat at Tony’s. The food was hecking delicious and there were pictures of Lady and Tramp EVERYWHERE. Tony was around too but I forgot to take a picture. -sob- They were playing the movie in the waiting area tho that was cute.

Bonus Round: Disney Springs

Basically my brother didn’t get this jacket he wanted so we hunted it down at the shopping center. But we took some cool pictures, look!

Ok but: WHAT DID YOU BUY???

Yeah you’re probably wondering that, especially if you donated to me, right? DW DW I didn’t forget that part! So shout-out to my mom (and my dad) cause I severely underestimated how much they’d be willing to help me out. That said I STILL went flat broke, coming home with 19 bucks to my name lmaO.

3: Who's your least favourite and why? Can I say Zayn? Cuz he’s been a bit of a dick since he left the band.

Financial Samurai 1Q2017 Investment Recap

One of the best ways to eradicate financial distortion is by meticulously tracking all investments. I’m pretty sure none of us will remember the exact details of what we bought, when we bought, and how much we bought years from now. This may lead to a significant miscalculation in cashflow during retirement. As a result, I’ve decided to start a quarterly investment tracking series.

The other reasons for this new quarterly series include: 1) earning enough to invest $20,000+ a month, 2) getting feedback about my investments since I’ve made terrible choices before, 3) starting an ongoing discussion about any new investments to consider, and 4) discussing the current investment landscape. The ultimate goal for all of this is to be able to spend maximum time with the kid(s) when they arrive. I’m deathly afraid of having to go back to work full-time.

Most people in America just spend most of what they make. Others just contribute to a 401k or IRA and then spends the rest. I want you guys to max out your pre-tax retirement accounts AND invest an additional 20%+ in post-tax investments each year. If you want to achieve financial freedom sooner, you need to have a sizable after tax portfolio that throws off livable income.

1Q2017 Financial Samurai Investment Review

Because I’ve achieved my net worth target, I’m not looking to take on too much risk. Instead, if I can grow my net worth by ~5%, or 2X the risk-free rate of return, I’m content. I no longer look at my investments as a way to achieve financial freedom. Instead, I look at my investments as a way to maintain financial freedom while providing a slight tailwind for net worth growth.

The main driver of my net worth growth is my online business, which is currently trouncing every other asset class due to a high correlation with effort and reward. I worked my ass off in November, December, January and February to take advantage of the inevitable new year’s rush. I’m now reinvesting that income to generate more passive income. January Investments Overview

Stocks ($21,000): I was cautious on the stock market in January, but couldn’t resist investing $21,000 in an Amazon structured note paying a 9% annual dividend for two years with a 25% downside barrier. I basically made a bet that Amazon would not decline by more than 25% for the reward of earning a 9% dividend. Amazon is a monopolistic juggernaut with two main businesses. They will use their monopoly to subsidize new businesses and crush the competition, exactly like Google.

Real Estate Crowdfunding ($25,000): I committed $250,000 to the RealtyShares Diversified Marketplace Fund because I’m bullish on the real estate crowdfunding sector, don’t want to buy more physical property due to maintenance hassles, love having a real underlying asset, and figure who best to pick the best deals on their platform than the very people who vet all their deals? The preferred return is 8% with a target IRR of 15% over five years with a 0.8% management fee. Given the fund’s goal is to invest in roughly 10 deals, each deal will be valued at $25,000 ($250,000 / 10 deals) in my portfolio. The money that is not invested sits in my account accruing interest.

I’m very happy the fund decided to invest in an Austin, Texas multifamily property with a 13% preferred return since I’m bullish on Texas, and other heartland states. Although prices have moved higher in Austin like most of the country, valuations are still so much cheaper than coastal city real estate.

February Investment Overview

Stocks and bonds ($0): The S&P 500 performed incredibly well, making up the lion’s share of 1Q’s 5% gains. I could not commit any more money to the stock market due to valuation worries and a lack of attractive hedged investments. Instead, I rebalanced my SEP IRA, Solo 401k, and Rollover IRA from roughly 65% stocks / 35% bonds to 50% stocks / 50% bonds at the end of the month.

Real Estate Crowdfunding ($25,000): The RealtyShares fund continued to stay active by investing in a Hayward, California multifamily project with a 19.2% target IRR. The fund targeted this project because of strong job growth in the East Bay as more people migrate out of more expensive San Francisco. The off-market transaction was acquired below replacement cost, providing for an attractive post-renovation yield.

Given I’m already long three properties in San Francisco, this project is not a property I would have invested in. I’m looking to diversify away from expensive coastal city markets because property prices are finally slowing. In the event of a tech/internet downturn, I don’t want to be over-levered here. Having no investment say is one of the downsides of investing in a fund.

For those who don’t live in the SF Bay Area, this investment looks intriguing because more companies are setting up shop in the East Bay (15-30 minutes across the Bay Bridge) due to lower costs (but it’s getting pricey quick). I went to Berkeley for business school (East Bay) so I’m relatively familiar with the area, the warmer weather, and the price arbitrage opportunity. If the project can earn half its target 19.2% IRR, I’ll be happy.

People are moving out of SF due to high cost of living. Hayward is about 28 miles east of SF.

Home Improvement ($8,000): I started on the final phase of my home improvement plans with the landscaping of my backyard. Given I live on a hill, my backyard wasn’t very user-friendly. The yard had also become overgrown with prickly blackberry briars. I decided to de-weed the entire yard and construct flat, multi-level tiers. The first tier is actually a 300 sqft kids playground. I’ve now got roughly 1,500 square feet more of flat lands. I’ll show you the final pics in a future post.

March Investment Overview

Stocks ($10,000): Despite rebalancing all my pre-tax retirement funds to a 50/50 stock/bond allocation, I decided to invest $10,000 in a 5-year buffer note on the Russell 2000 Index (RTY). The upside participation rate is 140% with a capped maximum total return of 50%. The note has a 15% downside buffer at maturity. I like buffer notes because if I’m down 20% on my RTY investment in 5 years, I’m actually down only 5%. The 140% upside participation rate is interesting because if RTY is up 25% in 5 years, I’ll actually be up 35%. The downsides of this note are the return cap and no dividends.

Bonds ($22,500): The 10-year yield reached 2.6% in March, so I bought more California municipal bonds. I purchased a $22,500 position in California Health Facilities Revenue Bond, with a 4.000% yield due 2/01/42. Getting a 4% net yield (equal to a 5.7% gross yield) because I was able to buy the bond close to par ($100) was enticing. 25 years left until the bonds expire is a long time, but I believe interest rates will stay low for the rest of our lives, thereby allowing bonds to maintain their value. I can always sell the bond before expiration.

My California municipal bond portfolio is now over $330,000, yielding roughly $8,800 a year in tax-free income. Since March, the 10-year bond yield has declined to 2.38% after Trump’s failure to pass Trumpcare. As a result, my bond portfolio is currently slightly in the money.

Venture Debt ($11,345): I received a capital call of $11,345 for my second venture debt fund investment. The total investment in this second fund is only $50,000 (compared to $115,000 in the first fund). The latest debt investment is in a gaming device technology company and a cosmetic company. Both investments seek to earn 12%+ a year in interest payments for three years with warrant kickers that could bring total returns to over 20% a year. Pretty interesting huh? I have zero expertise in these investments, but I do like the business of lending to well-funded startups and making a double-digit return without the need for a liquidity event that may never come. Home Improvement ($9,300): I paid the remaining $9,300 for the backyard landscaping for a total cost of $17,300. I’m really pumped with how things turned out, especially since I got bids for $50,000+! Instead of going with a large landscaper, I directly hired the guys working for a large landscaper. They were working for three months on a neighbor’s ~$120,000 project. So I just had a conversation with them one day to see if they wanted to work on mine on the weekends. Once you see the pictures, you’ll realize how large my project was. All I need to do now is spend ~$1,000 (!) on plants.

Real Estate Crowdfunding ($25,000): The Realtyshares fund invested in Avesta Biscayne, a 402-unit apartment community located near the Biscayne Bay shoreline in Miami, FL. Avesta Biscayne was built in 1985, but is located in a growing submarket and has in-place cash flow with an average occupancy of 94%.

Florida is not a heartland state, but it is a red state. I’ve always liked Florida given the warm weather and no state income taxes, so I don’t mind gaining exposure here. Miami is booming again. However, let’s hope job growth continues because Miami also went through a massive condo bust during the downturn.

Ideally, I want to focus on Colorado, Utah, and Texas real estate, which can still be done with individual investments on the RealtyShares or Fundrise platform.

1Q2017 Investment Wrap Up

So far this year, I invested $163,145 in 1Q2017 compared to my objective of investing at least $60,000 a quarter. This difference makes me want to slow down because it seems like my new year’s enthusiasm is overly influencing how much I should be investing.

That said, there were a number of positive financial events that occurred in 1Q17 including: 1) record online revenue growth, 2) getting my final severance check of $65,695, and 3) a $331,718.41 CD that came due seven years later.

The image below shows my closed USAA CD hitting my bank account and a $225,000 transfer the very next day to invest in the RealtyShares fund. I reinvestment so quickly because I spent 8 months researching the space prior in anticipation of the Cd expiring.

I had already transferred $25,000 to the fund in January. Only ~$75,000 of the $250,000 has been deployed because only three investments have been made so far. The rest of the $175,000 is accruing interest at an 8% preferred rate. In upcoming quarterly updates, I’ll add the remaining $175,000 balance as investments are made.

A beloved 4% yielding CD finally closed. Due to 8 months of research before expiration, I was comfortable re-investing $225,000 the very next day.

In order to maintain a passive income goal of $200,000 a year, I’ve got to find ways to prudently reinvest the $331,719 closed CD because it was providing a gross $13,268 a year in guaranteed passive income (4%). One way to recover the lost passive income is to earn an 8.13% return on the $163,145 I invested in 1Q17. It’s possible, but I’m not banking on it. If my entire $250,000 allocation in the Realtyshares fund achieves a 8% return, that equals $20,000.

The below chart shows my estimate total return for each asset class and the corresponding passive income amount for the quarter. I’ve tried to be on the conservative side, while also assigning zero returns for home improvement. For example, I’m confident the $21,000 Amazon position will pay out a 9% annual return because the stock is now 10% higher than where I bought it. Meaning, the stock has to go down 35% from here for me not to earn my 9%.

Future Investments

After paying 1H2017 property taxes, I’ll have ~$205,000 in cash left over to invest. The problem is, I don’t find stocks, bonds, or any private equity investments attractive at the moment. Do you? We just launched a missile strike against Syria, which means we’re now vulnerable to more attacks at home.

Therefore, I plan on making extra principal payments towards my 4.25% vacation property mortgage, meeting capital calls for my venture debt fund, and deploying real estate crowdfunding capital through the Realtyshares fund per their investment schedule. Any money left over will simply be saved until the 10-year bond yield breaches 2.6% or the S&P 500 corrects by at least 5%.

The bull market has turned out far better than I could have imagined. I was serious in my April Fools Day post about how I couldn’t bear buying a fancy car when the money could be invested for potential gains. Now the upside seems much less exciting, which conveniently makes it easier to spend.
