Bucky Barnes x Reader

Summary: When you feel like you are not worthy of being part of the avengers, you discover someone who thinks exactly the opposite.

a/n. So, this is my first fanfic :). I would really appreciate if you tell me if you liked and your opinions about it! I hope I don't dissapoint anyone! Any advice would be appreciated. And please, remember English is not my first language.

Fluff, shy Bucky.

As a new avenger everything was hard for you. Not because the rest of the team wasn’t nice or understanding with you, but because of all the pressure you had to go through. Everyone in the city was looking at you all the time, at the new girl, questioning every move you made. Why wouldn’t they? You are the novelty, something new to talk about after a calm period of time. You were there for six months and you were already stressed.

“Hey Y/N, you okay? You seem off.” You heard Wanda asking as she looked at you with a frown. You had made friends; Sam and Wanda were immediately your favorite people in the team since the first time you arrived, always so welcoming and nice. But you never tell them how you really felt; you didn’t want to be a bother, they all had their own worries and you didn’t want to be another one to add to the list. “Yeah! I’m just tired, I couldn’t sleep last night.” You try to fake a smile hoping she would buy it and stop asking.

Every day at night you go on a walk by a little beach near the compound— your safe place, a moment of peace in which you let your feelings out, crying while nobody is watching or listening to you. At least, you don’t think anyone notices your daily routine, you think you’re being cautious. But that’s not the case, there’s one person who has been watching you since almost the first time— Bucky Barnes, the cold and sometimes rude super soldier.

Bucky Barnes was stunned the first time you met him, but you thought he didn’t care about you. He looked at you when you introduced yourself, nodded and left the room. You almost cried. Why was he that rude? The truth was that he couldn’t stop thinking about you. When you met him you didn’t look scared of him nor you didn’t seem to hate him. You were like a ray of sunshine, smiling and being nice. He couldn’t allow himself to be near you, he didn’t deserve you. But he started to notice your nightly walks and he couldn’t allow you to go alone. What if something happened to you? No, no, that couldn’t happen. He wouldn’t let anything happen to you.

Bucky suffered each time he saw you cry, but he didn’t want to interfere, thinking you wouldn't want him near. So he tried to cheer you up from a safe distance. You received flowers (sunflowers, because they reminded him of you), your favorite candies and, even once, a book you wanted to read for a few weeks before he sent it to you. You didn’t know who was buying those things for you, you thought you had some fan like the other avengers had.

“Hey! Sam! Look what I received today! Someone sent me some candles! They smell amazing!” Sam chuckled at your excitement looking discreetly at his super soldier best friend, who was sitting at the sofa, peeking at you from behind the book he was reading. “Y/N, that fan of yours must really like you a lot, doesn’t it look like that, Bucky?” Of course, he knew his friend, and he knew Bucky was head over heels for you. “Yeah, sure.” Bucky hid himself again behind the book, not before sending a death glare to his friend. You blush, realizing in that exact moment that he was there. You might have developed a tiny crush on him. Well, maybe not that tiny, but he was so handsome. And even though he barely talked to you, you loved when you saw him laughing and joking with Sam and Steve. It was a rare but beautiful sight.

It was night again, and the day had been really hard for you, you had made a mistake that caused the loss of some important files. The team was able to recover them, but still, you felt awful. It was like you only failed again and again. That night, you started walking by your comfort beach but you couldn’t see through all the tears falling down your eyes; it was too much. You sat in the sand and started crying; you couldn’t stop.

You felt strong arms wrapping you. “I’m here.” You could recognise that voice anywhere. Bucky was there, with you, hugging you and telling you that he was there for you. You hugged him tight while crying more and more, while he caressed your hair. “It’s okay, everything is going to be okay.”

When you calmed yourself, you didn’t want to move, you were too embarrassed to do something. Not only had someone seen you crying, but that someone was Bucky Barnes himself. “Y/N? Do you feel better now?”

You nod and look at him, your face completely red. He chuckles when he sees how embarrassed you are. “Do you want to talk about it? I’m here for you if you need me.”

“I… I feel awful. What I did today… it could’ve ended really badly, Bucky. I’m only a burden; I don’t belong here. People are watching me fail everyday at something. I can’t anymore.” You try to not start crying again but you fail.

“Don’t say that That’s completely false, Y/N. You’re really important here. You don’t realize how helpful you are here.” He hugs you again and kisses your forehead while you keep crying.

“Do you really believe that? I’m not that relevant; I’ve been here for six months.” You look at him again, still blushing.

“Don’t you realize how much we need you? It’s not only the fact that you are an amazing agent, it’s also because you always have a smile on your face, always smiling. You are always there when someone needs something, willing to help. You don’t want anyone to suffer, but you suffer alone. The team would not survive without you. I wouldn’t survive without you.” He whispered that last sentence and if it wasn’t for the fact that you were still hugging and you were so close to him, you would’ve missed it.”

“What?” You blushed again. “Bucky, what do you mean?”

It’s his turn to blush, as he ignores your question. “You know, it’s not the first time I see you here… I just didn’t want to bother you. It seemed like you wanted to be alone and… yeah, today… I couldn’t just stare and do nothing.”

“I appreciate it. I really do. I needed that hug.” You look straight in his eyes. “But can you answer my question, please?” You saw how he avoided your eyes and blushed more. You then realize that he hadn’t let you go off his arms, and you blush as you start to chuckle because you two look like idiots.

“Are you really gonna make me answer that? Can we ignore it, please?” He knew he’d have to answer but he didn’t want to.

“Yes, please.” You now looked at him with a serious expression and he realized that this was his chance, he was going to tell you how he feels about you.

“Okay, but please don’t interrupt me, I need to say this quickly” You nodded. “Y/N, I… since the fist time I saw you, you live rent free in my mind. You have the most beautiful smile I’ve ever seen. You truly are light; you bring sun to the darkest days. You remind me of a sunflower. When you started walking at night, I started too; I couldn’t let anything happen to you. When I saw you crying every night… my heart broke in a million pieces, I wanted to help you, be there for you everytime you needed me. But I didn’t know if you would’ve wanted me to be with you, I know that we are not that close, and I feel it’s my fault.” You didn’t know what to say; you stared at him in shock.

“Bucky, why? Why didn’t you tell me this sooner? Why didn’t you talk to me? Or tried to be my friend?” You were trapped in his eyes, so blue you thought you could drown in them.

“I don’t deserve you, Y/N. I… I have something to confess. The flowers, the candles… It was me.” He looked away from your eyes.

“Look at me, Bucky, please.” He looked at you, then at your lips. The tension was palpable. You looked at his lips and then up at his eyes. When you saw the way he’s looking at you, you felt at home, safe. You had never felt as loved as in that moment. So you did it. You kissed him and the world stopped. It was just both of you; nothing else mattered. You felt safe with him and you knew you’d never be alone again.

“Bucky? I don’t want to do this walks alone again.” He laughed and wrapped his arms around you again, kissing your forehead.

“Never again, love, never again”.

You're in New Jersey of all places trying to find a serial killer, and in your opinion, Hotch is being entirely unprofessional.

You're also really enjoying it, but that's not the point.

There's a police officer that isn't flirting with you, really, more like he's a touchy guy in general. You're working as the conduit between the team and the police force, and so every time you tell this touchy guy something, it's an opportunity for him to say thank you.

This guy says thank you with a quick shoulder touch.

You feel guilty, admittedly. While Hotch isn't quite your boyfriend, he isn't not your boyfriend — you're working it out. Or rather, he's working it out. You'd walk into the middle of the road if he asked you to, but Hotch has hang ups about interwork relationships. He's hesitant because he worries about the inherent power imbalance between you.

It's fine though. You're hoping he'll come around eventually. And eventually might come sooner rather than later, with the way he's glaring holes in this guy's head.

"Is he making you uncomfortable?" Hotch asks you.

The door closes behind your guilty police officer. You'd prefer it if the police officer didn't touch you at all, but he isn't necessarily making you uncomfortable.

"It's alright," you placate, feeling the eyes of both Spencer and Rossi on you like laser beams.

Hotch nods and goes back to work. A small tell, and huge in the eyes of profilers.

You get further into the case and forget about the guy's touches, but you don't think Hotch can. He sits next to you at every opportunity, and insists you ride shotgun on the way back to the hotel. You have separate rooms, wouldn't dream of ever sharing one with him, so it shocks you like lightning when he invites you in for 'coffee'.

You sit on the end of his bed.

"Are you mad at me?" you ask, a moment of weakness.

He's very tense. Less so at your question, he pulls his weight off of the closed door and sits beside you on the bed. "Of course not." Then, because he's too smart and too himself to avoid the issue, "I'm sorry if I'm being forward."

"I like you, Hotch. You know I do," you say. In lieu of, Be forward, please. You don't speak with any particular inflection. It's the stone cold truth, and you aren't mad at him for anything. Not his hesitancy to be with you, or his jealousy.

"You don't think it's arrogant?" he asks.

"I think it's kind of nice. It's reassuring," you amend softly, "to know you want me to yourself."

That sounded better in your head. Thankfully, all Hotch does is nod. "I do."

"Okay, good. You can keep glaring at Officer Paulson, then."

He smiles at you, half defeat, half fondness. "His name is Poulton."

"Is it?"

His smile doubles. He places his hand across the sheets, palm up. You place your hand in his.

"You really need to get it together," you joke lightly.

"I know," he says.

The next day, you're back in the conference room of the Cherry Hill police department, hand pretty much on fire still from his touch where its resting on the desk as you jot down notes. Each time you remember how he'd held it, you'd fingers curl in on themselves, looking for Hotch's hand and not finding it.

You write down notes, not to be selfish, but because it really helps you connect the dots. You're not like Spencer, you can't store an infinite amount of knowledge up in your brain. You need space and time to work it out.

A cup of coffee appears to your right. A hand presses flat to the space between your shoulder blades. You beam at the tiny thumb movements and turn in your seat. "Oh… my god. Officer Pauls-ton." You laugh awkwardly, shrugging out from under his hand. "I thought you were someone else."

"I noticed you in here all by yourself and figured you could use some company."

Even if you'd been alone, and you had wanted company, and this was a dimension where Hotch didn't exist, Poulton's hand absolutely should not have been where it was. Now you're uncomfortable.

"Oh, no, that's alright. I'm just trying to make some connections here while everyone's out."

What a terrible thing to admit. You can practically see the excitement on his face.

"Yeah? They always leave the pretty one behind?"

You laugh without meaning to. Usually, Spencer is the one running point, so he's technically right. "You could say that."

"This all seems pretty boring."

You lean away as he leans forward. You're surprised — you've never been cornered like this, whether he means to do it or not.

"It's my job," you explain.

"Now why would a girl like you do something so gruesome?"

"Uh-" You laugh clumsily, wondering how the fuck you're gonna get out of this situation. You start by standing up and turning to him completely, the backs of your thighs pressed against the desk you'd been working on hard enough to ache. "A girl like me? I love the work we do."

"You don't find it boring?"

"Sometimes, but-"

"I can think of a few ways to liven it up in here."

This is the kind of thing your girlfriend's have told you about, over-imposing creeps who use a facade of niceness to get close. Officer Poulton has known you for all of three days, and while you've been friendly, you've never given any indication that you want to be seduced in a public work space.

"No, I don't think so."

"Come on, baby."

He steps toward you, hands moving to take your waist. You side step around him, eyes on the door, and he follows.

His fingers close around your wrist, and he says, "Where are you going?"

You yank your hand away and glare at him, other hand behind you and opening the door. You close it between you. You want to call someone. One of your friends, your team. Your heart races.

You can't tell if you were in danger or not.

You make your way through the bullpen to the women's restroom and hide in one of the stalls, typing a quick text to Garcia, who's most likely to respond.

Weirdo just tried to kiss me at CH PD. Hiding in the bathroom. Swear some guys see a polite smile and take it as enthusiasm. :[

You don't want her to panic, so you add, It's fine, though. How are things back home?

You spend a little time in there, as much as you can allow, hoping desperately that Officer Poulton has left the conference room so you can get back to work in peace.

The bathroom smells like bleach, and the toilet tank behind you drips. It's cold, and you feel an odd mixture of embarrassed and ashamed, though you don't have any reason to feel either.

I must have said something to him, you think scornfully. Something that made him think-

You shake your head. That guy's just an oddball. He saw signals where there weren't any. You didn't do anything wrong.

After some mild internal debate you stand up to face the music. You're barely a step outside of the bathroom when you're bumping into Emily, who's expression floods with relief.

"What happened?" she asks urgently.

"What?"

"Garcia said some guy came onto you? Officer Touchy?" Her eyes are sympathetic, her lips pinched into a friendly, pitying pout.

You gawp. "She told you?"

"What did he do?"

"Nothing awful, he just- he put hid hand behind my back and I- he was leaning over me so I tried to leave and he grabbed my wrist. It wasn't anything more than that."

"He grabbed you?" she asks.

You look up to find Hotch a few paces behind. His expression is unreadable. His tone, less so.

"Are you okay?" he asks, all the airs of someone taking pre-measures.

"I'm perfect. He barely touched me. I only told Penelope because I-" Why did you tell Penelope? "I don't know. He surprised me."

"I'm going to speak to the Chief of police," he says. "If you'll be alright?"

"I'm fine, there's really no need."

"It's disrespectful," Emily says, fiercely protective over her friends no matter what. "We're here to help them and you've got officers acting like frat boys."

Hotch says your name, pulling both of your attentions. "You're sure you're okay?"

You smile at him softly. It's good of him to be so concerned, but unnecessary. "I'm fine, I promise."

He takes your word for it and turns around. Emily lets out a low whistle.

"Someone's in for it," she says.

You don't know how right she is until you hear his raised voice. Chills run down your spine at his tone, so formidable, so sternly contained.

"Touch my agent again and you'll be working desk jockey for the rest of your career. Do I make myself clear?"

You can't hear it, but you imagine the answer is, "Clear."

That night, laid like two twin commas invested toward one another, you ask, "'My agent'?"

"You're one of mine, aren't you?" Hotch asks quietly.

"But am I yours?" you ask.

He wraps his arm around your shoulders, the bulk and curve of his bicep firm against your neck, and smiles, lips resting at the crown of your head.

"Do you want to be?" he asks.

You curl into his touch and embrace, warmed by his body heat and the blanket he's taken care to pull up to your chest. He smells like toothpaste and eucalyptus body wash, his hair still damp from the shower. You breathe him in indulgently, and you close your eyes to sleep without responding to his question. He already knows the answer.

Ranze Kurona

— We haven't been talking much lately.

It's too simple, but these words are so nice. It may seem that he is stingy with emotions, but if you look closely, he needs emotions that he can experience with you. He is straightforward in his words, but at the same time his remarks are not some kind of caustic: this is not permissible in relation to you. Kurona is actually simple, but this simplicity is too interesting.

Tabito Karasu

— You know that phrase "a guy can find any topic to talk to his girlfriend"? So, what kind of socks are you wearing now?

He seems to be, or rather is, the type who will say something stupid, after which you laugh. Of course, this is something stupid - just his way of proving that you don't necessarily need loud speeches to prove that you mean a lot to him. He just doesn't have to do it, such words are enough to make it clear that he wants to talk to you or even discuss this topic.

— If you don't want all this.

It was customary for him to get everything he wants, and this played a role in your relationship. To some extent, he was worried about whether you would accept his gift or not, no matter how expensive it was. Your opinion about them was important to him. It's not particularly difficult for him to say something, but he is confused by the fact that it needs to be said to you. Before that, he tries to rehearse it somehow, but all confidence flies away from him far away. This guy is completely different next to you, not the one on the field. But he always wants to be somewhere near you, so I don't think it's a problem.

Weiss: It's a awful opinion, but there's a grain of truth to it.

Yang: So you would marry me because…

Jaune: From what I know, after your mom died, you had to take care of the house and Ruby. It is a lot of work for an adult and more for a little girl. But looking at Ruby, it shows that you did a good job. In other words, you would be a good wife and mother.

Yang: Aw~ Thanks!

Blake: *Teasing* So Jaune... you would like to fuck me, huh. Can you explain why?~

Jaune: *Takes a big deep breath* At the end of the day, I'm just a man.... And like any other man, I do love fat asses. Can you blame me?

Blake: I guess not.

Jaune: Thank you. Now, can we play another game.

Nora: NOT SO FAST FEARLESS LEADER!!!!

Jaune: Oh god!

Nora: From your team!

In the end, you're so interested in each other that he lends you his clothes so you sleep comfortably as his arms wrap around your waist and his body spoons you.

i see you've sent this to a few others nonny : twiliae's post is v good & so is puxrlunae's . i haven't seen others on my dash at the time of writing ( tho i can guess other ppl have been asked but idk lol ) but imma try not to duplicate what they said but / shrug

i'd recommend learning when you do need to stay in your own lane & have some critical thinking . don't push yourself into drama cause the rpc says you just have to stay informed & don't believe everything you see . i've seen a callout where they screamed that the person the callout was about was transphobic cause they used the wrong pronoun for a muse ..........in a whole roleplay where they than used the correct pronoun & it was simply a mistype in one or two places . but the callout post highlighted the wrong pronoun use to make sure you believed them & not the would-be offender & people are quick to the gun . this wasn't in the zelda rpc nor any connected one & was years ago so i don't remember anything beyond it was so shitty to bend the truth . like maybe english was their second language so they got confused or forgot or maybe someone writes the same muse with different pronouns ?? idk

sometimes it's better to just turn around & go back to writing ur little doll kissing ur friends doll lol

In the test version of my blog anon asked me:

If Yui escaped from the Sakamaki mansion how do you think the brothers would react? Which one would be the first brother to find her? I think it could be Ayato or Reiji, (Ayato because of his possessiveness and Reiji because of his intelligence).

I can't really seem to answer about all the brothers. The truth is, I sympathize with Reiji and have read about him the most.

It's a pretty broad topic, by the way. The boys will react differently depending on how awakened they are as Adam, how interested they are in the prey. My reasoning here is not just about Yui, but simply about the prey. With the other girl, one of the prey, Laito acted more cheerfully, he wouldn't have been hurt by her running away. There are deeper feelings with Yui in DF. With the prey who came to the mansion not too long ago, it's different. It would be a fun game, he would have fun, drink blood, scare, etc., but eventually stop. Or not. It's just that a demon's fun could end in death, but losing his prey\soon\isn't what vampires want, I guess.

We're talking about a bad-bad Reiji demon who hasn't yet awakened like Adam. Reiji considers humans as food, inferior creatures to serve the vampires. Reiji regards any of his time and attention, even blood drinking (especially it really is), as a gift to the prey. When his "gift" is rudely discarded, he will not like it. Even though he will understand "why the victim ran away," he will be angry if he paid even the slightest bit of attention to her. It's like slaves, serfs who ran away from their masters.

You want freedom is understandable, but the demon's logic is, "You are now my property and have no right, it's all settled, remember your place in life, obey or be forced."

Reiji knows that breaking such rebelliousness is very easy. He will rise to the occasion as an insult and as a challenge. Catch and obey-perhaps that will please him more than initial obedience. If we choose the wrong\sadistic answer, we hear how Reiji reacts to disobedience.

Yui mentions in this scene that Reiji's eyes are no fun. 目が笑ってない. Even though he smiles, his eyes actually say more. I think it works as a mechanism to subdue Yui. To cut off thoughts that she might generally run away.

By the way, the scenes in this list, Reiji smiles every time Yui resists. He's not angry. For him, it'll just be a fun hunt. Partly because we're taking the scenes where he's completely unattached to her in a loving way. He just wants her for himself as a tasty treat.

If take as an example a girl who really liked Reiji, moreover he began to feel some affection, and she escapes it would be like the evolution of a transformer into a fucking obedience machine. Cold, unyielding and defeating you.

If we talk about the time when he had already become Adam. It will be a serious shock, he will really try to find the reason for her escape, to understand and rationalize absolutely everything. He'll have fun scaring her a couple of times, drinking blood bitter with fear, listening to the screams. Unlike Reiji, no annoyance at her running away.

In that sense, there will be no "hurt pride" like Reiji and no "insult to his property" logic. Shu knows how a demon should react to a human being's insubordination like that. He can take it in stride, but in reality he doesn't care about any rules. The rules and traditions of the demonic world, too. Any way he wants, that's the way he'll do it.

But if he has to listen to someone else's reprimand for his prey's escape, he will bite hard.

To conclude, I add another important scene about the escape.

Diabolik Lovers Shu Heaven Prologue

Shu describes how events could have unfolded after Yui's escape and capture. This first game, it's darker throughout, but specifically here I don't think anything has changed in MB towards the escaping prey. Unless there's a direct order from her father not to break the toy (which never happened before Yui) And a small chance that the girl will like it and be very... oh my. Very clever and careful, using blood and beauty and whatever-anything to make sure she isn't tortured to death. \no running away yeah\ It might work for Ayato and K... wanted to say. But Kanato would rather the prey silently endure punishment, he doesn't like excuses. Get down on the knees and waiting. Reiji will just do what he decides. It all depends on how much the vampire values the prey.

Yui: There's something else I want to know. If I ran away and got caught, what would happen after that... ... Shu: Ah-h... You would have been captured and underground, in a torture chamber, your spirit would have been annihilated... .... Only your body would be remaining, no longer able to resist or oppose. Someone in my uncle's entourage would have done just that.

ユイ: それよりも、聞かせて。もし私が逃げて捕まったら、その後どうなってたのか... ... シュウ: ああ... ...。捕まったお前は、地下の拷問部屋で精神を崩壊され... ... 今後何ひとつ抵抗も反論も出来ない身体にさせられる。うちの叔父貴あたりなら、それくらいやるだろうな。

wow wee … if colby plays into the stuff with shea on purpose then that’s not really a good look on him. if I had a friend that constantly did shady things behind my back it would make me not want to trust them anymore. maybe colby is too nice, but still it’s wrong that someone is using him or his look to take advantage of many things involving him. I do not understand why colby would ever want to play these games with ppl like that. it sounds insanely exhausting. maybe he likes the mystery behind everything even though to a fans pov it’s kinda frustrating or weird. it kinda gives me fuckboy vibes in a way. now I don’t wanna say colby is a douche or anything because that’s being mean, but a man constantly playing these games with these girls he knows is just gross in my eyes. we can’t just blame shea or stas because he is also participating in this. what are your opinions on that? because it really leaves a sour taste in my mouth. maybe I’m wrong. if I am then please let me know. I just hate it when men play these little games with ppl I just think it’s very immature.

i think it's good to remember that we don't know the full situation. there are definitely a lot of moving parts to this whole thing that we don't know about and haven't seen, so a lot of what any of us feel is just a really big assumption. i don't think one party is the main villain or problem, i think all of them play a role in what we see and what we don't see, and the general issues that arise.

and while shea and stas are similar in a lot of ways they are also really different.

but since you are asking about my opinion, this is what i think based off of what i have seen and know (whether or not that's the whole truth is a different story altogether).

there is a lot of layers to this - a lot of which stem from colby and end up festering from the girls, so to speak. colby likes to stir the pot, that's been made clear for a while now. even more proof when he did stuff with amber and then apologized for it, only to do it again a year later with all those tiktoks they made. the difference is, amber isn't continuing the gag behind the scenes. and most importantly, colby is signing off on what gets posted with the two of them involved since he actively participated in it.

nonetheless, colby is a shit stirrer. but at the same time, he doesn't want to be talked about/doesn't like drama. so when he stirs the pot, he only wants it to happen for the amount of time he wants it, and then he wants it to stop. but the problem is, if you get the fandom riled up you don't get to decide when they stop being upset. and that happens time and time again. he likes the attention and he likes ppl talking about him; i mean, he is a social media person, that's kinda the whole nature around being one so i don't fault him for that. but when he gets tired of it, he wants it to stop immediately. but that doesn't happen, so he gets frustrated.

another issue with colby is that he has commitment issues and attachment issues, both of which he has admitted too. both of these stem from past bad experiences with love and continue to this day. the commitment issues cause him to be flaky towards women he is interested in and not go all the way into an actual relationship with them, even tho (from the outside) that is what it seems like they are in and what he wants. so he ghosts girls pretty frequently. and the attachment issues cause him to be clingy towards and constantly crawl back even if things are done.

so while he may not want to actually be in a relationship with certain women, he'll want all the things that come with a relationship without the label. but at the same time, he's scared to be with said women, so he's always one foot in the door one foot in the grave. he wants the girl to be into him, he's made that abundantly clear that he likes when the girls are really into/obsessed with him to some degree (at least to me). but the issues that follow are basically this - they end up wanting more (bc he seems to want more too), but then he gets uncomfortable with them wanting more and thus moves on. or the other option plays out - they play house for a bit, only for the girl to lose interest, and once she does he pretends to have never wanted it anyway and is already gone.

with all of this in mind, how does this play out with shea and stas?

shea is an interesting case since she is the original, the og, of all of this shit. they have been friends with one another for years now, since 2015/16. and as i've have speculated before, i think the reason why they are as close as they are is bc i think shea was there for him when his ex broke up with him way back when. i think her (and brennen) were the two ppl that kept him together bc him and sam were not in a good spot in their friendship (something they both admitted to) and sam was preoccupied with his new relationship with kat. colby was able to rely on shea for emotional support and brennen was there to be the single, fun guy friend to go partying with.

and i think bc of this, shea and colby grew really close with one another. the problem that arises is that to me, shea was in love with him. and as the years have gone by, i go back and forth between whether or not anything happened between the two of them - whether or not they were ever really a thing. bc shea likes to argue by either saying that her and colby were currently dating circa every year but the last two or so, or that colby liked her back then and she rejected him. for years, i used to argue that i don't think they ever were a couple, but now… i'm a bit on the fence. i think their deep connection can come across as one and has probably crossed some boundaries. do i think they ever called each other bf/gf and made it official? no. but i do think they had something going on at one point secretly, and now they're just friends with a muddy past.

the problem is, fans don't know that. so they read whatever's going on with them as either a 'will they won't they' or that they are secretly together. which is also why shea can get away with telling fans they are secretly a thing bc ppl already speculate it and think it to be true. plus if it's coming from her, why shouldn't they believe it? she's one of the parties involved.

however, this ends up making colby look like either the worse boyfriend ever or just a douchebag bc he's literally hooking up with other girls while shea is telling her goonies that they are basically ready to hit the courthouse (not really but you get my gist). i mean, prime example was when they did the most recently adventure buddies in 2020. shea's fans were talking about them finally being together again or finally getting together, but around that time colby was literally WITH someone else. so either he looks like a guy that can't keep his dick in his pants, or shea is a liar.

and while i think the first is true to some extent, the second is a fact regardless.

and the reason shea gets away with a lot of this stuff is for two reasons: one, colby truly does love her as a friend and allows most of this to happen bc he's never gonna see the negative side of a person he cares about and two, bc he likes teasing the fans too and her doing it probably goes mostly unnoticed by him. i think he knows to some extent the shit shea has done, but at the same time probably not all of it; mixed with the fact that i don't think he fully cares. bc nothing she has done has been heinous or really maliciously intended (for the most part, i'm assuming, to him). not to mention, most of the ppl shea has fucked with are either fans that adore her (so they forgive easily and don't make a big stink about it), fans that become haters (bc they're spreading negativity and that's a no-no to colby) that end up leaving the fandom, or are girls in his real life that he doesn't care to lose aka any of his hookups. none of the girls he's been with over the years were serious relationships, which is why shea can be his watch dog and loom over him and basically intimidate these girls bc he doesn't see them sticking around in the first place. and the only reason the shit that happened between amber and shea didn't become a bigger deal is bc amber is a grown adult woman, unlike shea who is still playing high school games, and probably doesn't fucking care what a random girl from the mountains has to say about her.

and after all of this, i still gotta talk about stas lol

so stas…. she's a very interesting tale. bc she did a lot of the same shit shea did: talking in gcs about colby, liking ship edits, posting content only of him and her (only behind a paywall), making content with him and her in it, ect. but the difference is - he actually put distance between him and her.

this alone, proves to me, that he never had feelings for stas. or was never interested in her more than platonically.

stas came into colby's life first back in 2019, but didn't become a prominent person until 2021, and then more so in 2022. from my understanding of what other anons have told me, stas has been talking about colby/snc since 2019, and has made that connection with fans way back when even tho she wasn't even close to snc, since at the time she was just known as kat's friend.

my guess to all of the shit that happened with stas is this: i think she had feelings for colby, and kat knew. kat then tried to pair her and colby up all the time during 2022 when the core four was a thing bc she wanted to help her out and wanted stas and colby to date. however, colby was already paying attention to another girl, six flags girl, and so he was never gonna be interested in stas. stas also came in around a time when shea and colby weren't doing so hot (shea complained about not being invited to their halloween party and then later the next year was liking comments on tiktok saying that fans ruined adventure buddies, so clearly they weren't doing too well. plus she also deleted comments about him from tiktoks.) and bc of that, he got close to stas and relied on her for emotional support. this further solidified her feelings for him, and while i don't think he played into them as heavily as maybe with shea, i think stas was already sculpting out a life with him and her dating, which is why i've dubbed her the y/n fantasy. she wanted to date colby brock and get all the fame and fortune that came with that. she likes fans attention, which is why even to this day she's still posting content about him behind a paywall.

what happened after all of this played out is truly anyone's guess, bc clearly after they all came home from europe, something went sour. and not just with colby and stas, but stas and the whole group (minus sam bc sam doesn't really have opinions unless kat allows him to have them). and that's why there was a period of time when stas was shunned from snc/kat. that's why we get her telling fans that she feels abandoned, that kat ignores questions about her, that she doesn't appear in any videos, that colby deleted shipping comments about him and her (and of him and shea too - which was a first). could all of this be from the fact that stas allegedly was telling fans where they were in europe so that's why ppl were able to find them? was it the fact that her roommate was liking tweets about fandom drama and shea? was it bc her mom was posting shit too? or maybe was it bc she amped up their whole """relationship""" to fans and once malishkagate happened, fans were literally congratulating colby and her for finally coming out as a couple? who knows for certain. what i do know is, she crossed a boundary and colby put distance between her and him. which is why she has a poem insta, and why she threw a fit (and then deleted all of the tweets) on twitter when she was in vegas and colby was out on a date with a girl.

so time passed, and once stas was out of the picture, shea came right back into it. then stas and colby became cool with one another, and now all of them friends again (well, except stas and shea. that would be a very weird friendship).

where does all of this leave us?

if i am to be so blunt: i think colby is terrified to be alone, which is why he can complain about being used in one breath but in the next not cut off the ppl that are in his life that do use him. he tolerates the games shea and stas play bc he himself likes to play games. not only that, but he also likes having attention on him - not only from fans but from the girls. and they don't seem to mind giving him what he wants. he likes girls that are into him too much bc then there is the guarantee that they aren't gonna leave him. but that also comes at the price that they walk over him and cross boundaries and constantly want more from him even tho he's not interested. or maybe he is, who fucking knows.

again, i don't think a single party involved is the main problem. they all are. somedays it's shea, others it's stas. and sometimes it's colby.

all i know for certain is that i'm tired of all of this. i regret ever getting into colby's love life, truly. especially now since it's the same players time and time again. at least throw in a random girl i've never heard of before lol

y'all need to think about the reality around unfinished media. like it's fine to analyze and make theories but please remember those are not truth yet no matter how much you "prove" it

you can disagree with how someone thinks about the meaning behind the media but also like...be fucking nice about it and accept others opinions even if you don't see it that way

We know that him and Hiragi got along very well. As Hiragi admired him. But it seems to me that in that chapter (I don't remember the # sorry!) Were Mafuyu asks Shizu advice for music and his relationship abt Ritsuka. That when Shizu gets WAY of topic and says that the group was super Yuki-centered and how that was irritating. It seems to me that maybe he didn't like how much everyone revolved around him and admired him? As if it irritates him? Idk we don't really have much insight from him what his relationship with Yuki was like. So we might not be ae to tell for sure.

I'd like to point you towards this meta of mine, Discovering the true intention behind Shizu’s actions in Mix_8 completely changed how I saw the Shizuragi ship! This meta, although it doesn't address your question directly, I think it clears a lot of things up so PLEASE READ before proceeding.

Shizu and Yuki's relationship explained

In my opinion, Kizu never fully goes into the details of the dynamics between Shizu and Yuki but out of everyone, Shizu felt least close to Yuki compared to Mafuyu and Hiiragi. Shizu feels like

Yuki adopted the abandoned Pomeranian and calico cat and he's just tagging along. But Shizu feels like he doesn't belong to the squad/isn't as close to Yuki is his own doing due to:

his own abandonment issues resultant from being a LITERAL foster child

him joining the childhood squad later than the rest of the three

thinking that his three friends as being better than him from birth.

In mix_9, Kizu's placement of Yuki, Mafuyu and Hiiragi on stage is literally so telling of how Shizu felt. Of course he could choose to be on that stage as well, but he needs help to make he feel like he is worthy of being on stage.

Hiiragi is amazing, because Hiiragi noticed that Shizu needed help, Hiiragi had always been leading Shizu ever since he was a little kid. Hiiragi is absolutely that kid who is annoying but makes everyone feel included. And Shizu, is so happy and appreciative of that

to the point of feeling possessive over Hiiragi.

Sometimes, people with abandonment wounds feel possessive and jealous easily. This is because they are always scared that everything good can disappear at any moment. It may result in a person feeling super clingy emotionally. In Shizu's case, he is outwardly nonchalant but inwardly super clingy. Shizu, at some point in his childhood started to romantically idolise Hiiragi.

SO, Shizu's felt irritated towards Yuki because Hiiragi idolised Yuki.

BUT, Shizu's own abandonment wounds clouded his judgement because he mistook Hiiragi's idolisation of Yuki as a romantic one instead of a paternal one. Shizu mistook Hiiragi as being in love with Yuki when Hiiragi actually put Yuki on a pedestal like a child admiring a fatherly figure.

Yuki I think for the most part didn't do anything objectively irritating to make Shizu dislike him. Neither did the squad, they were always hanging out together. Shizu's inferiority complex and attachment towards Hiiragi made him look for someone contrasting his own circumstances to blame, which was Yuki.

Yuki - most panels depict him as the popular kid

Shizu - the literal foster child

Yuki - has both Mafuyu and Hiiragi's attention

Shizu - feels like he has none, but in truth Hiiragi is quite observant of Shizu's hesitation in participating fun things to make an effort to include him.

It's basically like the song Heather by Conan Gray.

Because Shizu also saw Yuki as being better than him in the literal sense, this actually didn't allow Shizu to really understand Yuki as a multi-faceted person. I think Shizu for the most part just accepted Yuki as someone with better circumstances than him, even beyond death. BUT AGAIN, that doesn't make Shizu a bad person. It makes him a human one. On top of that, Shizu's abandonment wounds were exacerbated when Hiiragi continued to emotionally dump on him whenever he wanted to but look towards Yuki for motivation and inspiration. And those are pretty VALID feelings which needed to be communicated and addressed for healthy healing, which they were in mix_4 to Mafuyu and mix_8 to Hiiragi. As you pointed out, Shizu gets off topic with Mafuyu, this is a great thing because for once, he is acknowledging his own feelings outwardly rather than keeping them inside. This then led him to realise that he needed to clarify things with Hiiragi rather than let these feelings of abandonment brew longer.

Currently, I personally think he is no longer irritated at Yuki. Please remember that Shizu also lost Yuki. Grief for him could have also manifested as irritation. It’s all very complicated when you lose someone right? I think Shizu’s probably found the new song “To the Sea” just as healing as Hiiragi and Mafuyu, he’s just not really the outwardly expressive type. But Kizu Natsuki did put in some tender faces in the recent chapters.

Again, please read Discovering the true intention behind Shizu’s actions in Mix_8 completely changed how I saw the Shizuragi ship! (sorry for pasting again, it's just so important, I go into Shizu's insight so much more here).

As for Yuki, we never really get to have an insight into how Yuki feels about anyone, because he's passed away. We are only ever receiving second hand accounts of Yuki. But Kizu wrote it that way to highlight the fact that life is precious and if you're alive,

there is hope for you to tell your story and communicate clearly.
