I wasn't going to post this originally, as it is more watercolour than colour pencil at this stage - however, I really liked the leaf shadow that appeared as I was working on it! ...and because I am so busy at my day job, and the pieces I am working on are all private commissions not shareable yet.... I thought I would show something at least, to prove I am still here :)
Absolutely falling in love with watercolour as well...
DO YOU KNOW THE BIRDS CALLED "COCKATOOS"? - CONOSCI GLI UCCELLI CHIAMATI "CACATUA"?
They belong to the parrots family, but they aren't parrots, they are "cockatoos".
And you can distinguish them thanks for some morphologic tracts, among which in particular the high crest they open on their head.
These birds are typical of the south-east Asia rainforest.
Here portrayed there is the "black palm cockatoo", probably the darkest and elegant one, for sure the biggest one with his size of quiet 60 cm.
Also a "trophy" for collectionists 'cause of his aspect, he still survive free and wild in his natural habitat.
For my #traveldiary I portrayed it in 2 different versions:
On the left with the acrylics paints.
On the right in a digital tecnique.
So similar, so different. Isn't it?
And You, which version do you keep?
Which one do you let "fly away"?

A destra in digitale.
Così simili, così diversi.
E Voi, quale versione terreste?
Quale lascereste "volare via"?
AKA short-billed corella, bare-eyed cockatoo, blood-stained cockatoo, and little cockatoo, and Birdirra among the Yindjibarndi people of the central and western Pilbara, who would keep them as pets, cook and eat them, and use downy feathers in traditional ceremonies and dances. Cacatua sanguinea, means 'Blood-stained Cockatoo' and refers to the dark pink markings between the eye and bill. There were first scientifically described by the British ornithologist John Gould in 1843.
Small cockatoos similar in appearence to the Long-billed Corella and the Western Corella. The five subspecies are found over most of Australia and New Guinea, with the exception of thick forest. They usually fly in large flocks, sometimes in their thousands, and their screaming audible from kilometers away.
In South Australia, little corellas are considered "unprotected native fauna" and may be shot, trapped or gassed by landowners.
Essa ave é muito dócil, isso facilita muito a domesticação. Não possui hábitos de migração, porém sempre andam em casais ou grupos. #AhazouPet #pets #aves #caturrita #dicas #CuidadosPet #cacatua #saudeanimal #SaudeAnimal #saudepet https://www.instagram.com/p/CnfAhk5r6WA/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Final of my watercolour and colour pencil cockatoo.
Loved making this cheeky dude. Love the softness in the overall portrait and being able to add details with pencil. Interesting process indeed! Enjoying exploring different mediums so much.
