Little Bakugo is so obsessed with Animal Crossing. He doesn't ever touch the game when he isn't regressed, but once his mind slows down and he relaxes into that state of mind, all he wants to do is play his game!

It makes the job of being his caregiver very easy. It is often Izuku that fills that role, and really, all he needs to do is make sure that his Kacchan is nice and comfy on his bed and has his Switch with him.

Izuku also has a Switch, and sometimes Kacchan will whine and beg him to play and they will go collect all the fruit on both of their islands together! Izuku secretly keeps planting more and more fruit trees on his island because he knows how much the blond loves doing that. So the more trees, the longer it takes to gather all of the fruit. 

It is just something that the two of them do together to pass the time. Kacchan really enjoys the game, and nothing can stop a tantrum in its tracks faster than placing the boy's gaming device in his hands with the game's loading screen up.

In fact, there had been one time when Izuku had been off campus busy with his work-study and couldn't be there for Kacchan when he wanted to regress. So he went to some of his other caregivers, Kirishima and Sero, to keep an eye on him while he was little. They didn't know the little trick to calm him down.

So when they told him that, no 'Suki, we can't color with you right now we have homework to do, and the tantrum of the century started, the two boys had to just suffer until the green-haired boy got there.

One quick text at the time of Izuku's usual arrival had said boy knocking on Kirishima’s door promptly. He was there for all of two seconds before he went over to Kacchan and picked him up to settle him on his hip — the small-minded boy knowing to wrap his arms and legs around him immediately.

"You wanna play our game, honey?" Izuku coos, easily carrying the blond with one arm and wiping his tears away with the other.

The other two in the room stared back with slack jaws. One, Katsuki never let anyone else pick them up, and two, the way his crying stopped and his face lit up so quickly at the mention of whatever their game is.

"Yes, pwease!" Kacchan grinned, tugging excitedly on Izuku's shirt. "Can we 'Zuzu?"

"Of course, kiddo! I wouldn't have asked if I didn't want to," he answers easily. "Say goodbye to Kiri and Sero first though," Izuku's tone has turned a little stern and he tilts the little towards the two still staring at them.

Kacchan, reminded of the ill feelings he'd felt during his tantrum, buries his face in Izuku's neck and mumbles his goodbyes.

"Nu-uh," Izuku says gently, bouncing the boy on his hip to get him to stop hiding. "Proper goodbyes now."

"Literally how?" Sero asks in disbelief at the same time Kirishima says, "he listens so well to you."

Izuku sends them sympathetic smiles paired with a one-armed shrug (the other arm still occupied with holding Kacchan).

But then a hand unfurls from Izuku's shirt and waves at the other two boys, and then a second later Kacchan was picking his face up to look at both of them. "Goodbyeees... sowry for cryin, I really wan-ned my game..."

Kirishima and Sero nod and smile at him, still having no idea what game they're talking about. They tell him that crying is okay and that sometimes it is difficult to express your emotions while Kacchan just hides in Izuku's neck again.

Izuku, sensing their confusion, promises himself to text their caregiver group chat to explain what Kacchan is talking about once they get back to his room. He nods to both of them and leaves the room then, carrying the little over to the elevator.

Even though Kacchan's bedroom is right next door, Izuku knows both of their Switches are up in his room and he knows little Kacchan likes his place more.

"How are you doing, buddy?" Izuku asks while he switches what hip Kacchan is sitting on.

The elevator dings and the doors open to reveal Todoroki and Iida. The two step to the side to politely give the pair more room. Izuku smiles his thanks to them and steps on.

Kacchan hides more in his neck and Izuku can't help but bring his hand up to tickle at his chin, "hmm, Kacchan?" he prompts.

"I okay now that you got me's," he says honestly, mumbling it into Izuku’s shoulder.

"Awe," they both hear Iida coo softly.

Izuku grins, turning to him, "he is adorable isn't he?"

The three of them all agree and Izuku laughs lovingly at the soft embarrassed whines they all hear.

Their stop comes first and Izuku tells the other two his goodbyes before stepping past the doors. They make it to his dorm without issue after that and he gets Kacchan all tucked into his bed, kissing the blond on his forehead sweetly before stepping away to grab their gaming systems.

"I'm sure we have more fruit to pick if you wanna play together today?" Izuku asks as he plucks one Switch from the dock connected to his TV and the other from its spot on his desk.

When he turns around to hand the blond his device, he sees Kacchan spacing out staring at his own hands. Izuku coming into his line of sight doesn't change a thing.

Izuku understands immediately; it is one of Kacchan's tells when he is coming out of littlespace. He waits patiently for a couple more moments before he calls out the other's name softly, "Kacchan?"

"I'm okay," he says, voice cracking as he talks in his lower register once more.

Izuku smiles, "welcome back, how are you feeling?"

He only blinks for a second more before making eye contact with Izuku for a mere second before looking away. "I'm good, th-thank you for.. that..."

When Kacchan is big, he sometimes has a hard time showing his gratefulness. Izuku still appreciates any attempt he can get. He also knows there are some other questions he has still.

"You wanna come up fully or go back under?" Izuku is careful to keep his tone neutral and caring. He really doesn't mind either option for his friend, knowing that he'll be here for him either way.

Kacchan shrugs and waits a moment, thinking and staring at the Switch in his hands, before flicking his eyes back up to Izuku to gather his reaction. "Go back if you're okay with it?"

Izuku stretches his mouth in a big, proud grin. He comes over to sit on the bed next to him and gives him another forehead kiss (they are secretly Kacchan's favorite). "Of course, little one, you let me know when you are ready to play and I will get my game loaded up. For now, I am going to put away my books, okay?"

He waits until he has Kacchan's nod in agreement before getting up from the bed and dropping the backpack he had brought in with them. He knows that transitioning from his regular head to his little one can be a bit difficult for Kacchan sometimes, so he turns away to give the boy some privacy while he really does busy himself with putting his textbooks away in his desk drawers. They've been doing this for long enough that Izuku knows Kacchan's needs.

It isn't long before he hears, "otay, 'Zuzu! wanna go your island firsts."

Izuku smiles and happily grabs his own gaming console. He loves how simple-minded his little Kacchan can be sometimes.

"Sure thing, buddy, lemme open up my gates."

Sometime, when Bakugou was stressed, he would age regress. Pretty much no one knew about it, except for Kirishima.

Kirishima found out on accident, even though Bakugou had been intending on telling him. The red head started coming over and hanging around whenever Bakugou was regressed, and if he regressed during their regular hang out sessions, Kirishima wouldn't bat an eye and ask if he wanted to switch activities. Sometimes Bakugou would say yes, sometimes he'd say no. Kirishima also helped him with some of the things he struggled with doing while in his small headspace.

Kirishima becoming Bakugou's caregiver kinda just... happened. But he was a very good caregiver. He made sure to communicate as much as possible with Bakugou. He made sure the little didn't stay up past his bed time, picked up all his toys, and gave him extra treats when he deserved them or after a bad nightmare.

Kirishima was always there for Bakugou, and Bakugou wouldn't want anyone else as a caregiver.

So he wanted to do something extra special for him. Maybe it was sappy, trying to make the spiky red-headed rock a gift, but Bakugou didn't care. He needed to show Kiri that he was the bestest caregiver ever. And Bakugou didn't award that title lightly! You really had to be amazing in order to earn such high praise from him!

And Bakugou needed his gift to be just as spectacular as his caregiver.

That's how he found himself sitting at his desk, half in his headspace, glaring at the card in front of him. Yeah, it was good. It was handmade and the drawings were amazing. But a card? No, his caregiver deserved something even cooler! Though he was pretty proud of the card, so he would still give it to Kirishima. So, the partially regressed teen walked over to his bed and flopped onto it, pulling out his phone.

Kiri deserved something amazing, so he was gonna get him something amazing!

Bakugou scrolled through various Etsy stores and Ebay listings, trying to find something that was perfect. Eventually, the little found just the thing.

Gasping, he sat up excitedly. "Eiji'll love it!" he declared, not noticing how much he'd regressed already. "It's perfect! I gotta get it for him!" Bakugou quickly bought the gift, and now all he had to do was wait. And not tell Eiji! Eiji couldn't know, it had to be a surprise!

When the day came that the gift arrived, Bakugou could barely keep still. He was practically vibrating in excitement as he wrapped the gift up and place the card on top of the box. He texted Kirishima, struggling a little with typing it as he slipped into his headspace. Eiji would love his gift, he knew it!

Kirishima arrived, and Bakugou pulled him over to his desk. "Eiji! Eiji! Got you somethin'!" Bakugou said, bouncing on the balls of his feet.

"Woah, you didn't have to Kats."

"I know! But you the bestest caregiver, gotta show that! An' the gift is perfect!" Bakugou stated matter-of-factly.

"Alright. Well, before I open this, no doubt, awesome gift, Kats, are you little right now?"

Bakugou was about to answer no, when he realized that, yes, he had slipped. "Uh-huh! But still! Your gift!" Bakugou picked the box up and pushed it into the red-head's hands.

"Thank you, Katsuki," Kirishima said, ruffling the blondes hair. Bakugou beamed.

Kirishima teared up as he read the card. The handwriting was slightly shaky, but Bakugou's handwriting was still very neat. It read, 'For the bestest caregiver in the universe! You're the manliest!' and it had a bunch of silly, slightly childish drawings of him and Bakugou, as well as some doodles of Crimson Riot. "This card is lovely, Kats! I'm going to hang it up and keep it forever and ever," Kirishima said definitively, and Bakugou nodded.

"Yeah, cause it's the coolest! But it's gots nothin' on your real gift!"

Kirishima nodded, and delicately unwrapped the wrapping paper, doing his best to avoid tearing it. When he saw the box, he almost started balling.

It was a limited edition Crimson Riot action figurine. One that only had some ninety-seven in existence. Kirishima had tried to get one, but they were expensive and sold out extremely quickly.

"Kats..." Kirishima said, voice wavering. "Kats I love it, thank you so much...! How did you even get this?"

"Ebay!" Bakugou responded proudly. "I wan'ed to show you that you're the bestest and the coolest!"

Kirishima hugged Bakugou. "Well, thank you Katsuki! I'm gonna treasure this figurine forever!"

Bakugou hugged his caregiver back. "Your welcome, Eiji!"

I felt bad halfway and decided that hey why not have her realize that she was neglecting Kiri and Deku by only wanting Baku. Thanks for the request though, halfway through all of them atp

Midoriya and Kirishima noticed a shift in their dynamic it started the week Bakugou was away for hero work. She acted normally the first few days he was away but the last few she wouldn’t stop crying. Out of headspace she understood that he was working but in her headspace she felt alone.

While she had two of her caregivers it still felt weird for Bakugou to not be there. He was the one that would read her bedtime stories and make sure she ate her vegetables. Yet without him there she felt as if she couldn’t do those things.

It took everything in Midoriya and Kirishima to try and calm her down at nights. They tried their luck at reading her bedtime stories but it wasn’t the same. The way he used silly voices for characters or would cut her carrots up into little stars. She missed it.

“How about Llama Llama?”

“No…”

“What about-”

“No, wan daddy.”

“I don’t think this is working, Eijirou.”

So the day that Bakugou returned Midoriya and Kirishima were relieved. Bakugou knew the second he got home that she was less than corporative with her other caregivers. It was evident in the dark circles under their eyes and the concern they held when she finally saw Bakugou.

Y/N on the other hand was happy as she no longer had a reason to cry at night. The second dinner was over and she had her bath she crawled her way into Bakugou’s lap. Her head was against his chest as she listened to his heart beat. He didn’t waste time as he rubbed her back in a soothing manner.

“I’ve heard you’ve been crying all week, what’s that about?”

She let out a small noise of surprise at his words her pacifier discarded as she looked up at him.

“I know it sometimes seems scary when one of us is away from you. But no matter what we will always come back, understand?”

She nodded her head listening to him speak as she did her best to process his words.

“Good, but also remember that when one of us is away the other two still love you just as much. We all hate to see you cry and it hurts when you only want one of us.”

Thinking back on the week she remembered how distant she was with Midoriya and Kirishima. How she would cry even when they did their best to cheer her up and make her smile. She knew they were trying their hardest to make her happy but she didn’t care much at the time.

Bakugou’s eyebrows furrow at her warbling bottom lip, “no need to cry muffin, they still love you. It’s okay..”

The sound of her crying alerted Midoriya and Kirishima who made their way into the bedroom. “Is she okay?” “Are you alright, baby?”

The concern in their voices made her sniffle was she reached out for them. Her arms didn’t stay empty for long as Kirishima followed by Midoriya wrapped her up in a hug.

“Sowwy.”

“Don’t be sorry, baby.”

“Yeah we understand, Izuku cries a lot when Katsuki leaves too.”

“Eijirou! I don’t cry!”

“Sure.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?!”

“It means sure.”

Y/N didn’t care much for their argument as she snores lightly with her head on Bakugou’s chest. A smile on her face as she snuggled against the rather explosive man, happy.

Bakugou hated nightmares.

He hated that he kept having them after everything that happened-- the training camp, being taken by the LOV...

He hated nightmares and sleepless nights.

Hated waking up sobbing because he was scared and small and everything else was bigger than him and he didn't want to get taken again.

But Kirishima helped.

He comforted Bakugou after any nightmare. Didn't matter if he'd been asleep two minutes before, if Bakugou had a nightmare, he'd always be there.

Kirishima didn't even care much about his little space. He thought it was, in the red head's words, 'manly that he had a healthy way to cope'. Maybe that helped Bakugou accept his regression a bit more, in the long run.

Kirishima was comfortable and safe and didn't think his fears were a weakness that needed to be purged. He accepted them and helped Bakugou work through them.

Bakugou really appreciated all that Kirishima did for him.

So when he woke up from a nightmare, crying and choking on air and terrified out of his mind and really small, the first thing he did was go over to Kirishimas.

He was grateful that Kirishima was his neighbor, otherwise it would've been a bit more of a hassle to get to his primary source of comfort.

After some incessant knocking, Kirishima opened the door. He was half asleep, but when Bakugou slammed into him, shaking and sobbing quietly, he woke up completely.

"C'mon in, let's go sit down on my bed, it's a lot comfier there, yeah?" Bakugou nodded into his chest, and Kirishima brought the blonde into the room. He closed his door behind them and carefully led the sobbing little to his bed to sit down. "You wanna talk about it, Kats?"

Bakugou just shook his head. "The same dream," he mumbled. "I not like it... it was sca'y..."

"Aw, bud, I know... Nightmares can be really scary, but I'll always be here to help fight off the bad dreams!"

"P'omise?"

"Pinky promise. Now, why don't we do something calm to help get your mind off the dream, yeah?"

Bakugou nodded. Kirishima pulled out some coloring books and coloring pencils he always kept around, and he turned the lights on. The two colored for a while, before Bakugou yawned and his head started to droop. "You tired again, Kats?" Bakugou nodded. "Do you wanna stay here or go back to your room?"

"Uh..." Bakugou looked down at his drawing. "Stay. Don' wanna go back."

"Alright. You can stay as long as you want."

He slept soundly for the rest of the night, safely cuddled against his caregiver.

ahh hello! it has been on my to do list to drop by and share my love for pt 1 of atmospheric! i finally had the chance on friday to catch up on a lot of the fics on my tbr list, yours included!

i have to say it is absolutely so stinkin’ cute how bakugou is falling for reader. the entire chapter read so fun/and cute/and romcom-esque in theeee best possible way ever. i just love the tone of the entire story. i also like that a lot of the story thus far is from bakugou’s perspective and more in-depth in his mind than reader’s. i think it kind of keeps us in his mind space of being nervous and shy about the situation. and feeling just as surprised/happy when he sees reader! i love the burst of confidence he has at the end and how natural he slips into his “role” (but like its natural because asdfasdsadfa he is gettin into this so deep that it IS natural for him aaaahhhHH!).

okay and kiri and akari— really were just the highlight of it all for me. i know this is bakugou centric fix but that dynamic of bakugou/kirishima/akari just has my heart in a death grip i swear to god. akari and uncle kats is just so flippen cute and endearing. how bakugou helps to take care of her & kiri (the decaf tea omg)…just adds a whole layer of softness to the usual hard & rough exterior bakugou presents. like kiri asking bakugou to come over and saying “do you want some company?” when really i feel like he is asking for himself maybe 🥺…like it is unspoken and bakugou just knows as well to be there..sighs…the “off handed” beer comment showing bakugou’s concern!! then allowing kirishima to just mourn openly with him and let his bottled up sadness out…i just wanna say all these little details you’ve included truly mean so much to the characters and the story. it really makes it such a wonderful read.

i feel like you’ve picked up everything i was intending to put down for the beginning of the fic, and it makes me SO HAPPY! i absolutely struggle writing longer pieces so this has been the hugest challenge for me, but to get feedback like this makes me swoon 😍

the whole fic will be very bakugo-centric, and im really enjoying him and his interactions with the other characters. eiji and aki especially. i feel like a matured bakugo would quite easily— knowing how to look after himself— step into a caregiver role, and though he’s not the best at handling emotions, would do his best to be there for eijirou.
