Rules: name 3 songs that have been stuck in your head for the past few days
Thank you for tagging me, @dolceaspidenera! any opportunity to ramble about music is very appreciated 😊I also got tagged by @bhaalsdeepbat (thank you!) for a 'name 5 of your current favorite songs' thing, which isn't the exact same as this, but I'll combine them here anyway 😂
Wildflower and Barley by Hozier feat Allison Russell
The sun hesitates more on each evening's darkenin' Would all things God allows remain above ground Like grief and sweet memory, wildflower and barley
Okay so basically this whole EP has been making a constant rotation in my head since it came out, but the song that's currently occupying my head is Wildflower and Barley. It's just so good, I love the lyrics and the visuals they conjure, it's fun to sing. My favorite part is Allison's backing vocals in the chorus ("The healers, Are healing", etc.)
2. Only When I by Alice Phoebe Lou
Sometimes it feels like I could give it all up to be held by you But that's not all the time No, not all the time Only when I can't breathe Only when I wanna believe Only when it's late at night Only when I don't feel right Only when I touch my body Only when I'm feeling naughty Only when you're far away Far away Far away
I love so many songs off this album and this one is no exception! It's sad, pitiable, and sexy lol what's not to like!! (also it's so durgetash to me...)
3. synthesizer by De'Wayne
She's a synthesizer Orchestrates the band She's got the whole world wrapped around her finger She's a synthesizer Baby, don't you understand? She's my Heaven, she's my Earth She's my woman, she's my man
I randomly came across this one. It's not lyrically complex but it is very catchy and fun. A mood lifter and a great song to dance to. The reason it really got me is the part in the chorus that goes "You're my woman, you're my man". I heard that and my lil queer heart was like, oh? 👀
4. Agoraphobia by Autoheart
But I am dented by the scars* They keep me up at night And it's not agoraphobia It's just a lack of air supply That keeps me up at night
*Genius says the correct word here is "skies" but "scars" makes more sense to me so I'm leaving it 😂
THIS SONG UGHHHH I have it on my Gale playlist so the psychic damage I receive from it is multiplied tenfold lol but I CAN'T STOP
5. Witches by Alice Phoebe Lou
Me, I've got my own little magic And I'm not tryna wreak havoc It's just that sometimes I see something and I just need to have it Let's share a few dirty habits
oop, another one by Alice Phoebe Lou! I've had this saved for ages, but for some reason it's wormed its way into my head as though I've never heard it before!!
tagging @dragon--sage @anderstrevelyan @justabiteofspite @birb--birb @witch-from-a-block-of-flats and whoever else wants to do this!!

i don’t get why ppl are scandalised ab the twins poll like the star wars ao3 tag isn’t full of various combinations of those clones sucking and fucking. w asoiaf we have to deal w the psychic damage cersei and jaime give off. meanwhile they’re out there creating it themselves give me a break
yeah i just think some ppl got really mad at shit like the purposely ironic and context reliant “if u dont vote jc u hate women” and then started unironically weaponizing heavier things in response. when this is just a poll 😭 like it is not that serious and some things felt like they were purposely being taken in bad faith. i get that some ppl in the tags were annoying but that was a jokey response to what was being said and the more serious accusations being made (accusing ppl of being weird and fucked up for voting fictional characters lmao). and when u come into the anons of ppl over a poll and call them abnormal thats when u need to really get over urself:
Tumblr media
like my friends and i had a good laugh over this yesterday but it does showcase that some of u need to go outside

Find the Word
I've been tagged in Find the Word again, yay! Was tagged by both @nanashi23 and @catchingbigfish, so I'll combine both. :)
Tagging: @arijensineink, @angelsofprey (if you have anything to share!), @pertinax--loculos, @frostedlemonwriter, @authoralexharvey, @sarahlizziewrites, and whoever else wants to join in as usual.
My words were: Smash, grab, run, glimpse, dare, rule, crisis, surround, star.
Your words are: damage/damaged, darling, ball, even, annoy/annoying. Bonus: kiss, because it's #ockiss week.
Snippets from both the previous version of Life in Black and White and The Dotted Line.
CWs: institutional (carceral) violence (grab), mention of a psychiatric crisis (crisis), implied substance use (surround)
Smash
N/A
Grab
From The Dotted Line, I – “Camp”:
They swarmed the halls before any sorry man still out of his cell had time to consider retreating. Before I knew it, I was grabbed roughly from behind, two sets of arms stronger than mine pulling me back toward my cell. One of them tore my bag from me, probably to inspect it for weapons. You know, I think it’s real funny how they always think we have weapons, when the real weapons are on their belts and in their hands… but, I digress.
Run
From The Dotted Line, X – “Would I Lie?”:
What a sobering remark. Really makes you think. Probably à propos. Maybe he’s a psychic, huh? Never did figure out who that guy was. You think maybe it’s that dude who tried to make a run for it back in August and got snapped by Google Street View? I feel like that’s something that dude would have said. Anyway, whatever.
Glimpse
From Life in Black and White, Act II:
I close the cabinet, and catch a glimpse of my own reflection.
All at once, I snap out of it, horrified. I mumble to myself, “Oh my God, what are you doing?” What the fuck are you doing?
No.
No. I can’t do this. I can’t do this. If I fall back into this now, it’s over for me. He’ll be the death of me.
Dare
From The Dotted Line, I – “Camp”:
Then, as though in a split-second - as though time had finally thawed out from its previously frozen shell - the tight, rough grips on my arms before I could hope to reach my cell of my own accord. The hands pushing me into the dark chamber. The dull clanking of the bedpost as my hip slammed into it, which, as you can imagine, left a real fine bruise. Their frantic eyes telling me they knew I’d seen it long before the words ever dared leave their lips.
Rule
From The Dotted Line, IV – “Blondie”:
Inside this lovely five-star establishment, rules are simultaneously unspoken and shouted from the bird's nests. It's dog eat dog here, it's kill or be killed here, it's fight or get punked here, it's reputation or nothing here. And there are two roles here: either you're a predator, or you're their prey.
Your play.
Crisis
From Life in Black and White, Act I:
I spent the next week filling out depression and anxiety scales, the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory, diagnostic questionnaires... basically, a whole bunch of time-consuming shit that reminded me way too much of being a confused, terrified twelve-year-old kid in the psychiatric crisis centre at the General at three in the afternoon, distraught, unable to sit still.
Star
From The Dotted Line, IV – “Blondie”:
I don't remember if I told you this, but back at the county jail (I'll give that place about three and a half stars, just because I'm a generous person, and that's why you love me), they used to call me Blondie. Yeah. And you thought Scarface was bad. That nickname followed me to Camp Hill, too. Almost surprised it didn't follow me here. Luck of the draw, I suppose. But then again, maybe not.
Surround
From Life in Black and White, Act I:
He came to sit on the other end of my couch, the one directly facing the mammoth of a TV, snapped said TV on with a small remote that apparently was about to be swallowed by the crease between the couch arm and the cushion, and cracked the Ziploc bag open with purpose. TV starts playing major league football at a surround-sound volume that somehow drowns out the sound of The Safety Dance from somewhere up on the second floor.
“Meds you’re on, bud? This shit’ll fuck you up hard.”
I chuckled. “Can’t be worse than Seroquel.”
“You wanna bet?”

Wizard Breakdown Tracker, #136
Yet again we have had an episode covering a remarkably short span of time - perhaps our shortest yet, as honestly this might have covered under an hour, in-world. So once again I cannot really vamp about what most of the NPC wizards are doing, because honestly I am pretty sure Eadwulf might have just been doing push-ups the entire span of this episode. So our eyes turn, pun intended, to the man of the hour, the drow trapped on an emotional rollercoaster only partially of his own making, Shadowhand Essek Thelyss, and pretty much everyone else can wait. Probably for a couple of weeks since I suspect next week will similarly not cover much time.
As a reminder, Caleb Widogast is a PC, not an NPC, and is also, currently, a sheep.
Currently sidelined: Allura, Pumat, Trönt, Astrid, Eadwulf, Ludinus, Oremid, Known Gem Wizard Hotsauce Lutefisk (this is still funny to me and I have learned that the audience one must cater to is always one's self), and the body of Vess Derogna which to be perfectly honest was probably unceremoniously dumped somewhere in Aeor, which is going to make this either way more awkward, or way less. That said the Mighty Nein's next task is "deal with Ikithon" so it's not like they're going to avoid murdering Assembly members.
Essek Thelyss: I observed that there were four major themes among the tags in my activity from this past episode:
I want to punch Lucien so much
I want the wizards to kiss so much
ha! tiny Veth on a sheep! the water elemental has titties!
In my opinion there is too much going on
These are all very correct opinions to hold and Essek is currently, if I may understate the situation, experiencing the last one. And also probably some variation of the first two. Probably not the third.
Within this one hour, at most, span, which I should note immediately follows his discovery that the Aeorians were excellent at dunamancy and did not appear to give a shit about the Luxon in the bargain, he has learned that Caleb and Beau have some abilities based on those eyes; that the cranky immortal weasel that sits on Jester's shoulder is actually her shapeshifted archfey god; that time travel specifically tailored to do the exact thing he wants to do is not only real but also seems to require the combination of his own expertise and the expertise of his potential love interest who also wants time travel for the same reasons; that Jester is fully aware of his flirting, thinks it's great, and got an answer from Caleb that he (Essek) is not privy too specifically thanks to eyeball powers; and that there are still a whole bunch of monsters after them although they might have all killed each other. He has taken 36 points of psychic damage, has been carried by a flying Caduceus, has been grappled by a water elemental, is probably sopping wet, and now he is in the Astral Sea and what's more he's probably going to be at the front of the pack, because he is a high-level wizard and Caleb is a sheep with intelligence 2 for the moment, unless Tiny Veth decides to bonus action dash*.
This is a lot, and I think the sheer nonstop nature of all of this has punched through the cheerful nihilism I predicted last week, and I am fairly sure the main thing getting him through this is that first, tis a far far better thing, better than he has ever done; and also he was right about the Luxon.
Conclusion: 9/10. I was going to say this is just a countdown to when Essek can finally scream into Caleb's shoulder for an unspecified amount of time but actually Essek seems like the kind of person to lie face down on the floor, also for an unspecified amount of time. Either way it is going to be well-earned.
Yussa Errenis: Again, I find it enjoyable to think that a tiny part of Yussa that cannot communicate meaningfully with Jester's sending or do anything really does still exist within the insanity, watching from the inside and psychically face-palming, which is rich coming from Mr. What does THIS button do. Anyway I hope a tiny surge of hope has arrived, as the party finally enters the astral plane and can hopefully do something.
Conclusion: I already made my Cantorian infinity joke very early on and while I can't vamp about the Dwendalian wizards I can about that, namely, did anyone else read the Number Devil? I think it was originally written in German but I read the English translated edition, and it was about like, basic number theory, geared towards kids, and honestly it was great. Anyway my point here is that there's a chapter towards the end where they go to Number Heaven, where the Number Devils live (the cosmology of the dreamscape in which the Number Devil resides is not really made clear) and they meet Georg Cantor, and he is very strange in a "I thought about infinity WAY too much" way, and now I am imagining the Somnovem as being kind of like Georg Cantor in a children's book from the 1990s about math. Anyway. Yussa is still off the charts but maybe we're a little closer to rescuing him.
*because this is the internet and some people are insufferable I am acknowledging here for posterity both that out-of-combat Astral Plane movement per the DMG p. 17 is not strictly subject to the walking speed = 3 x INT score, and that Beau could also bonus action dash if she wanted to use her limited ki points in the worst possible way, but I am trying to make a very sophisticated joke here, namely hahaha wizard smart sheep stupid Veth tiny.

this is in part because of your tags on the infodumping post, and in part because i genuinely know very very little about pokemon: tell me about pokemon! the basics, lore, and aspects of it you particularly like.
I LOVE YOU SO FUCKING MUCH YOU DONT GET IT POKEMON IS MY SPECIAL INTEREST AND HAS BEEN SINCE I WAS 7 OKAY SO
i am most familiar with the games!! specifically the mainline ones, so thats what im gonna talk about! theres a lot of differences between the games but the basic structure is the same: youre in a specific region of a world inhabited by pokemon!! you meet with a professor, they give you a pokemon, you go on a journey to be the Best Pokemon Trainer Ever and make your pokemon fight adult's pokemon to give you badges and you gotta strategize to win (player characters are always 10 btw which makes this batshit bananas). there are 8 gyms, each with a "gym leader" who you fight to recieve a badge from to prove your strength. theres also the teams! often they have sorta edgy names (team skull im looking at you) and they steal peoples pokemon to try and wake up an old god legendary pokemon and it works and then you eventually catch The Literal Creator Of Time like what the fuck. also, to "beat" the game you have to fight the elite 4 and then the champion, or the strongest trainer in the whole reigon! champion fights are no fucking joke they are hard as all FUCK but so much fun.
there are 18 pokemon types: fire, water, grass, electric, ice, fighting, poison, ground, flying, psychic, bug, rock, ghost, dragon, dark, steel, and most recently, fairy!
pokemon can be a combination of 2 of these types, or just be a single type! they can also adopt new typing or drop old typing as they evolve (a thing where they change form and get stronger. and also usually less cute. and also its permanent.) which i think is neat! each type has a handfull of weaknesses, and each type has a handful of strengths!! fire is weak to water and rock (or ground i cant remember), water is weak to electric and grass, dragon is weak to itself fairy and ice, etc!! this also means that damage done can be... kinda weird!! say i use a fire type pokemon against a water type pokemon, but my fire type knows an electric type move- that move will still be super effective, even though the pokemons type itself would be not very effective!
now, after all that, im just gonna list some of my favorite pokemon: TOGEPI!! ditto, oddish, meowth, gastly, haunter, gengar, dratini, cleffa, aromattise, gible !!
thank you for letting me infodump about my favorite thing in the whole fucking world!!! /gen

Krenko’s Guide to Pokemon: Gastly Line
Tumblr media
I may or may not be afraid of some ghosts.
DESIGN:
Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar are an interesting design combination of a creature being fully realized. Gastly is just a face, really, while Haunter has something of a proper head and hands, as well as the hints of a body. Gengar is then the full creature, with legs and everything. Meanwhile, Gastly has a very will-o-wisp look for a minor ghost, while Haunter is more actively ghostly. Gengar, meanwhile, is designed to be sort of an animated shadow of a nonspecific Pokemon that’s absolutely Clefable. It’s name, even in Japan, comes from the word Doppleganger, which is a magical being that looks like a copy of a real person. Basically your classic evil twin.
All three designs are relatively simple, but I also think they get the point across. These things are spooks, and they’re all the same spook gradually getting stronger over time.
The only really weird and confusing thing about the trio is... Haunter is bigger than Gengar.  Forget the tiny Haunter you remember from the anime.
Tumblr media
Thanks, KlavernBoer for taking this picture. Haunter is 5′03″. or 1.6m. Seriously. It’s HUGE. It’s just only in the newer games that you can really tell. The anime’s wrong on other sizes, too, but the Haunter one is extra surprising because you can ride Haunter in Let’s Go.
Tumblr media
So, the base three are fine, and then we’ve got two added forms. Mega Gengar, like many Mega evolutions, is just... X-TREME!
Tumblr media
I don’t really have anything interesting to say about Mega Gengar. It’s just Gengar but spikier. It has a third eye for some reason... and if anything it feels like it’s devolving back toward Haunter with the forward-leaning pose and the lack of feet. It’s interesting for the Mega Evolution gimmick, but I’m really not feeling the design. You know what design I do feel, though? GIGANTIMAX GENGAR!
Tumblr media
At over 65 feet tall, this thing is higher than many buildings, and it clearly just wants to eat everyone and everything into the netherworld that is its mouth.  According to the Pokedex, its mouth leads directly to the afterlife, and if you stand too close you’ll hear your loved one’s voices calling for you to enter.
Tumblr media
Those children are about to get eaten. That’s just what’s going to happen. Maybe they can fight it off, but if not, they’re snacks. I also love how Gigantamax Gengar sinks into the ground, making it even bigger than what we can see. It’s huge. It’s terrifying. I love it. EVOLUTIONS:  Gastly to Haunter at 25 is fine but I’ve already complained about how trade evolutions are kind of out of date and more of a pain than they are fun anymore. Back in they day they were fun, sure, but now it’s just a chore.  Mega Gengar was a bad idea. Many Pokemon needed Megas. Many Pokemon want Megas. Gengar was not one of them.  In fact, Gengar was so good even before getting a Mega that they had to nerf it by changing its special ability from a good one to a bad one, and it’s still an entirely solid Pokemon. Megas very clearly were distributed more on ‘what would be cool’ rather than ‘what Pokemon needs a boost’ and that makes me sad. Because part of the reason Gengar is so cool is that it really doesn’t need the boost.
Gigantamax Gengar is basically a straight upgrade from Gengar. Max Phantasm lowers an opponent’s physical defense, but Gengar’s special attack is literally twice its physical, so there’s no reason to use that. Instead, it gets G-Max Terror, which prevents the opponent from switching out.
Tumblr media
Art by please tell me if you can figure this out I’ve done reverse search and nothings turned up. It seems to be linked to https://theroaringtrainers.com/ but I can’t actually find it there.
TYPING:  Poison/Ghost was a really dumb thing back in Red and Blue. Ghost was the only thing good against Psychic, but there were no Ghost moves worth a damn and the only ghosts were Poison/Ghost, so they were weak to Psychic.  Now that the Psychic bogeyman’s a lot less of an issue, this type combo is a lot stronger. The Gastly line has four weaknesses, two resistances, two double resistances, and two immunities.  Six is a decent array of defensive types, and the fact that Normal, Fighting, Poison, and Bug attacks fall off Gengar like water off a duck’s back really helps.  Offensively, Gengar’s getting super-effective hits on only Ghost, Psychic, Fairy and Grass (two of which are getting super-effective hits right back on Gengar), but almost nothing resists Ghost, and Poison works just fine on most of the Dark and Normal types that do.
Tumblr media
Grim Haunter by Dragolisco
STATS: 130 Special Attack, 110 Speed. Oh, you want to know about its other stats? ...Why? It has 130 Special Attack and 110 Speed. It usually goes first, and the other Pokemon often won’t survive. Okay, so, defensively, Gengar’s sub par at 60 HP, 60 Defense, and 75 special defense, but those stats aren’t so low that he’ll simply collapse to most hits. Just build for Special Attack and Speed, and swing for the fences. It’s not complicated. Mega Gengar has bigger numbers all around, with 170 Special Attack and 130 speed, with both defenses raised by 20. Look, if you have 130 speed and 170 special attack it doesn’t really matter what your other stats are. You’re a murder machine.
Tumblr media
Art by TsaoShin
ABILITIES: Gastly, Haunter, and any Gengar in generations 3, 4, 5, and 6 has the ability Levitate. With a ground weakness and two pre-existing immunities, Levitate makes them particularly hard to stop. Shifting this line’s already defensive typing to include three immunities and four resistances with only three weaknesses is absurdly powerful, and the devs figured that out the hard way. As of generation 7, Gengar has the Cursed Body ability.
Cursed Body... is an ability that exists. It’s has a chance to disable any move that hits Gengar, and while that’s not garbage, Gengar’s relatively fragile body means you’re unlikely to see it trigger in a normal fight, except maybe on an attack you intentionally jumped in front of because Gengar’s resistant anyway and you’d rather they use again instead of switching attacks.  Yes, sometimes it’ll save your life, and sometimes it’ll really mess up someone using a Choice Band, but it’s not really a relevant part of the overall Gengar discussion. Mega Gengar has Shadow Tag which prevents the opponent from switching out.  Shadow Tag is a very powerful ability that makes sure Gengar gets to knock out what Gengar wants to knock out. There is no escape from Mega Gengar.
Tumblr media
Pokemon x UNDERTALE: Chara and MegaGengar by Sa-Dui
MOVES:  Gengar is one of those early Pokemon that gets all sorts of moves that it has no reason to have. I have a theory that when TMs were first programmed into Red and Blue, every Pokemon could learn every TM, and then they decided that was silly and cut out the moves that really didn’t make sense... But any Pokemon programmed in after this was instead given TM moves case-by-case. My basic evidence for this is that the Pokemon that can learn Thunderbolt for no apparent reason are mostly Pokémon early in the Internal List.  I haven’t really gone on a deep dive, but this is my theory. Anyway, for attacks, every Gengar takes Shadow Ball.  Gengar gets it on level-up, it’s its best Ghost-type move.  The only bit of competition here is Hex, which requires either Hypnosis or Will-O-Wisp to set up.
Gengar’s other attacks have a lot of options. If you want a Poison move, Sludge Bomb. While Sludge Wave technically does more damage to a single target than Sludge Bomb, the added 20% chance to poison in Sludge Bomb is generally going to wind up being more damage than 5 more power.
The only things that don’t take full damage from Shadow Ball are Dark and Normal, and while Sludge Bomb can work on them, they share a weakness in Fighting. With fighting ALSO being super-effective against Ice, Rock, and Steel, many Gengar trainers teach it Focus Blast, an absurdly strong albeit highly inaccurate attack.  Further, Gengar has plenty of special attack options like Dark Pulse, Thunderbolt, Psychic, Energy Ball, and Dazzling Gleam if you just want more options at Super-Effective damage.  If there’s a Pokemon you’re particularly worried about, Gengar probably has something it’s weak to.
But what sweeper setup would be complete without Sword Plot or Nasty Dance?  Get a moment to set up and Gengar can double its Special Attack, giving it an easy time tearing through anything that gets in its way.
On the other hand, maybe you’re a bit worried about backlash. With high speed, Substitute can make a good defensive measure and scout what the opponent’s doing.  And aforementioned Will-O-Wisp and Hypnosis can severely impact the opponent’s ability to smash your face in while also turning Hex into a 130 power attack. With Mega Gengar’s Shadow Tag, you can get even tankier. Disable and Taunt can severely inhibit a Pokemon that’s trapped in combat against it, and if you really just want to trade Megas, you can use Destiny Bond because they can’t exactly switch out.   Gengar has a lot of options, and it’s good at them.
Tumblr media
Art by Nohbyl
OVERALL:  The Gastly line is great. They look cool, they’re powerful, they’re useful, and there’s actually a bit of a niche for Haunter to be used on its own due to having a different ability than Gengar, not that it’s a particularly good one.  GMax Gengar is great, too, though Mega Gengar is entirely unnecessary.  Gengar with Levitate was good enough before Mega Gengar existed, it’s weird to me that they added the Mega, then nerfed base Gengar.
Anyway, Gengar’s in a great place, always has been, and I’m sure we’re going to keep seeing it for years to come. It’s also simple enough to easily show up in any region, and popular enough that they’ll never shelve it for long.

taking a closer look at the jinzo archetype & its members
there’s very few monsters in the yugioh tcg that actually have stated lore- konami seems to really like implied lore through cart art and card effects, and relationships within archetypes as well as cards outside of them. with that in mind, i want to share my observations about the five monsters in the jinzo archetype!
Tumblr media
before i begin, i want to get one simple but very important technicality out of the way, and that is this: robots, androids and cyborgs are all different things.
robot: a machine created with little/no intended resemblance to a human being, including bipedal robots like gundams who are meant to be piloted
androids: a machine created with a clear intended resemblance to humans, either by looking exactly like one or looking very humanoid
cyborg: a human or humanoid with mechanical enhancements
the japanese name of this archetype is 人造人間 (jinzoningen), which translates literally to “artificial human” and translates officially to english as “android”. in addition, the original japanese names of all of the jinzo monsters are as follows:
人造人間-サイコ・ショッカー (Jinzōningen - Saiko Shokkā)
人造人間-サイコ・ジャッカー (Jinzōningen - Saiko Jakkā)
人造人間-サイコ・リターナー (Jinzōningen - Saiko Ritānā)
人造人間-サイコ・ロード (Jinzōningen - Saiko Rōdo)
人造人間7号 (Jinzōningen Nana-gō)
as well as having android” prefixed before all of their names, the archetype is also all purely machine-type, as opposed to several other monsters who clearly have cyborg augmentation but retain their original typing, like giga gagagigo. based on this, it’s safe to say that the “jinzo” monsters are all purely mechanical beings—they are NOT humans who have been experimented on, or who have received cyborg augmentation.
moving onto the monsters themselves, in order of release date:
Tumblr media
this card was released before the first actual “jinzoningen” monster, and considering that the word “jinzoningen” is also just a general word meaning “android”, it’s debatable whether this card is even technically part of the archetype, but since the wiki treats it as one, i’m just gonna go for it anyways. jinzo #7 is a very shoddy-looking android, and the numbers printed on his armor seem to imply that he is attempt #7 of his creator’s attempt to build a functioning machine, since the assumed jinzo numbers 1-6 are nonexistent in the card game. and based on his similarity in appearance to the other jinzoningen monsters, he very well may have been the first step, the “gateway” to the creation of the others. his effect is very simple, but possibly implies that he has exceptionally high speed or agility to avoid the other monsters in the way of the player, and also to make up for his poor offensive and defensive capabilities.
Tumblr media
jinzo - lord was released years after the original jinzo in 2008, but i’m putting them both together in the same bit of analysis, because based on lord’s way of summoning, the implications are clear—jinzo - lord is simply an upgraded version of jinzo, rather than a separate monster entirely.
unlike #7, jinzo is clearly a polished machine, fully complete in his construction and capable of several highly destructive functions. his name “psycho shocker” implies strong psychic abilities that are capable of inflicting physical damage, and his attack in the anime, “cyber energy shock”, is an electric ball of pure dark energy. also implied by his attribute, dark energy most likely contributes to a large part of his function, possibly held internally by a strong magnetic or magical field. his main skill is disabling trap cards with his presence, which can translate more generally as incredibly high intelligence and strong psychic ability that allows him to forsee danger before it happens and disable the things that he already knows pose a threat. in his upgraded “lord” form, these abilities are strengthened even further, now having the ability to outright destroy these threats and inflict karmic return blows with his psychic powers. he also gains six tendrils sprouted from his back, which may be used for restraint and generating electrical shocks from the spikes at the tips. since he is a machine, he may also use these to download information from other machines into his CPU, based on their flat appearance, as if they’re meant to be inserted somewhere. overall, being the ace of his entire archetype, he is a very powerful, very intelligent android capable of great harm in many different ways, though he appears to be somewhat of a glass cannon—his defensive capabilities are below average, so his only option is to serve his purpose with his several different abilities, or give into being overpowered by the enemy; a black-and-white choice fitting for a mechanical mind, but his high intelligence may imply also imply sentience, making his decisions not so clear-cut should he form attachments to others.

returner is a comparably small android to all the others, looking to be the size of an average human. he shares a lot of the same qualities as #7, but in returner’s case, he seems to be built with more of an intentional emphasis on agility, being incredibly thinly built and only possessing a large CPU where his head is and large shoulderpads for protection. the purpose that his second effect seems to imply is a sort of “distress call” upon destruction. his defensive capabilities are only slightly below-average, and he can hold his own against weaker opponents with ease. upon being destroyed, he immediately calls for the return of a fallen comrade, possibly implying that he uses his remaining energy and power to reanimate a destroyed or dysfunctional jinzo for just enough time to take down the larger opponent they were facing, before both of them return to ruin.
interestingly enough, despite being a “call for help” type of android, he was built with a human-like mouth that was then sewn shut, making him unable to actually speak, which is much more visually gruesome than the other mouth-like masks the other jinzoningens have. guess the creator of the jinzoningens had a pretty messed up sense of humor. 😱
Tumblr media
jector is very interesting, as he seems to have been built as a direct defensive counterpart to jinzo himself. his japanese name, “psycho jacker”. directly implies his purpose as a hacker, as do the multitude of tendrils connected directly to his CPU. his second ability allows him to use his full power to hack into the opponents strategies and reveal all of their abilities, providing intelligence to his team and then immediately requesting backup from jinzo, bringing him to attention, and if the situation is dire enough, directly bringing him to jector’s location. his first ability—to change his data to “jinzo”’s—is what his english name implies; the ability to “project” himself into jinzo’s role. this way, not only is he able to utilize jinzo’s specific support items, such as “amplifier” (which can ONLY be equipped to jinzo), but he is also able to take on the full appearance and abilities of jinzo - lord, who can only be summoned by tributing a face-up “jinzo” on the field and cannot be summoned any other ways. his intelligence is possibly even superior to jinzo’s, as he seems to have been built with the sole intent of creating an incredibly competent data-gathering machine who can then use it to support jinzo’s conquest. jector is, without a doubt, the best support member for jinzo, possessing high defensive capabilities, the ability to hack into vital intelligence for his team, and even the ability to copy jinzo - lord’s own abilities in a pinch.
Tumblr media
whoever created these androids seems to have been trying to create an android with a combination of human intelligence and raw destructive power, and have been trying for a while before they eventually got it right. upon jinzo’s creation, their focus moved on to creating androids to support his conquest, resulting in the birth of jector and returner. jinzo is a dangerous weapon capable of mass destruction, but he may also possess too much intelligence to be held down by any one commanding force for too long. jector and returner are loyal only to jinzo, so wherever he decides to go they will most likely follow. there’s really no telling what such intelligent androids would decide to do if left to their own devices, since, despite their attribute, there’s nothing in their cards or their anime appearances that directly imply that they’re evil or destruction-bent. there was that one jinzo spirit from GX that wanted to become human so he could destroy the world or whatever bUT COME ON, GIVE THEM A CHANCE-
anyways, let me know what y’all think or if you have anything to add!! reblog with commentary, reply, add stuff in the tags, or anything you want, really, this was really fun to write and it could be a fun discussion to have! :>

Use this website to generate your muse’s Pokemon team!
Tumblr media
(Now hear me out for a second:
First of all, I considered that this is Thanos we’re talking about. He’s going to want some of the most powerful Pokemon he can get his hands on.
Secondly, you know damn well that he has the determination and willpower to get them. If he decides he wants to go out and get a specific Pokemon, he’s going to do just that no matter how difficult it is or how rare they are.
Finally, when choosing the exact Pokemon, I figured that Thanos would want to choose a team with abilities correlating to what he’s already shown to wield/possess; namely those of each Infinity Stone and also of the members of the Black Order.
So I ended up choosing one Pokemon that sort of matched to each Infinity Stone and what they represent. They are also all among the most powerful of their categories.
The Mind Stone- Mega Mewtwo X
Mewtwo is already a pretty strong Psychic-type Pokemon type, but when it’s upgraded into Mega Mewtwo X it’s even more powerful. Because it was scientifically created and engineered to be the most heartless Pokemon, it is also entirely focused on nothing else but completing its mission and defeating its opponents in battle and fiercely loyal to its owner. It has a wide range of psychic-based attack such as telepathy, telekinesis and mind control. It’s sort of the ‘Ebony Maw’ of the group, so to speak.
The Space Stone- Giratina
Giratina is an extremely rare and powerful Pokemon that hails from the Distortion World and has the ability to control and travel through dimensions, and it represents antimatter. It is very strong and defensive with incredible stats. It is also somewhat of an outcast Pokemon because it was so territorial and aggressive that it was ultimately banished from its home for its violence, giving it a lot in common with Thanos himself.
The Time Stone- Dialga
Dialga is a very formidable and legendary Pokemon and is one of the members of the creation trio. It’s abilities relate to time manipulation including speeding it up, slowing it down or stopping it entirely. It is also a secretive and mysterious, and tends toward violence. It could be best compared to Corvus in the group who prefers to stay in hiding, is sneaky and, while not directly controlling time, does possess the ability to reverse certain effects of it such as regenerating himself after battle with his glaive even if killed.
The Power Stone- Primal Groudon
Primal Groudon is one of those most physically powerful of all the Pokemon and its physical abilities in its domain types of Ground and Fire are considerable. It is associated with lava and magma because of the combination of types, it can even expand continents. It isn’t the fastest or stealthiest Pokemon, its role is more of an enforcer, the brawn, much like Cull Obsidian, as its sheer attack and defense are nigh untouchable.
The Soul Stone- Arceus
Known best for rumors of originating the entire Pokemon universe, Arceus ‘The Original One’ is a master among its kind. It is one of the least understood Pokemon due to its legendary nature, and is the only Pokemon who can use the ‘Judgment’ ability, which will do damage based on the opponent’s inner self. It has potential to be very caring, almost a guardian as well as a leader, but if crossed it will not hesitate to end you, just like Proxima Midnight cares for her teammates but is merciless to enemies.
The Reality Stone- Ditto
Ditto may look cute and silly, but it is actually an incredibly useful Pokemon to have, mainly due to its ability to not only change appearance at will but to take on the form of any other Pokemon and gain its abilities or even any object it chooses (or rather, its owner chooses). Of course there are certain limits to this ability, but still it can be very tricky to compete against when it is not in one constant state and can change reality. It doesn’t correlate to any particular member of Thanos’ squad, but could be compared in ways to not only the Reality Stone but the Infinity Gauntlet itself.)

Geez, I’m starting to think I might be psychic. Second time now I’ve hit the nail on the head when it came to the summaries. At least for 56 anyway. 57 I didn’t see coming at all since we already had this duel and I didn’t think we were going to get a rematch for Playmaker vs Bohman at all unless it was going to be a tag duel with Playmaker and Soulburner vs Bohman and Haru. I mean, it makes sense in a way since Playmaker thinks that Bohman still has Jin’s consciousness, which he doesn’t, but it still seems way to soon for a rematch. Playmaker has only had two duels this season: Bohman, then Blood Shepherd, and now Bohman again. Really don’t know how to feel about this in terms of dueling action but I think we could be learning more about Bohman during this episode and 58 if this duel continues into that episode which is going to be interesting just to figure out how screwed up his mind truly is because of all the memories rewrites. Plus, if he is one of the Lost Children, I can see it being confirmed during this duel.
Now onto the big topic: Soulburner vs Blue Girl confirmed for 56 with my guess it is going to start at the end of 55. Yep knew this was coming a mile away with how Soulburner has been following Playmaker’s season 1 pattern. If the pattern continues to hold true, he should be dueling Revolver next or one of the big bads of the season. Maybe Haru or the shadow guy maybe?
However the thing I wasn’t expecting is that Aoi, as Blue Girl, is still using Trickstars. Okay, I knew it was a long shot on her using a Water archetype but I was convinced she was going to be using a new archetype because of the whole new Blue Girl identity. In my opinion, this is just really stupid. I get it from the card game perspective. Trickstars are the top deck at the moment in the TCG when they are combined with the Sky Striker archetype and I believe they are still doing well in the OCG as well regardless of the fact that Trickstar Reincarnation is at 1 for them. There was no way in hell Konami was going to allow the writers to have Aoi switch archetypes considering she is their cash cow at the moment but when you are looking at it from a writing standpoint, what was the actual point of her assuming the Blue Girl identity in the first place? Blue Girl was made for her to go under cover but she isn’t actually hiding the fact that she is Blue Angel when you allow her to keep using the same archetype!
I swear to god, if Soulburner figures out that Blue Girl is Blue Angel just because of the fact that she is still using Trickstars, I’m going to face palm so hard because Aoi, you walked right into that one.
Other then that stupid complained of mime, I have been looking forward to this duel for a while now and I can’t wait to see how it plays out. Of course, we all know Soulburner is going to win because as long as he has Flame, he can’t lose unless the plot is heading in the direction where the Ignises are starting to get captured for something, but I am very interested to see how he is going to bullsh*t his way out of this. We have a Fire deck vs the literal burning you to death deck and when you really think about it, Soulburner shouldn’t be able to use his Skill. Burning Draw drops his life points to 100 and if Blue Girl has Lycoris on the field for example, he literally is going to lose just by using his Skill. Just anything he is going to do is going to burn him so unless he pulls out a monster that negates Burn Damage or instead makes him gain Life Points instead, in RL, Takeru should honestly lose this duel.
Well calling it now, Soulburner is going to summon a Fusion Monster that does one of those two effects because there is no way in hell he can use Burning Draw without it killing himself.
As for Blue Girl’s side of things, I can’t wait to see how the writers are going to make Trickstars lose again. Again best deck for a reason and all the writers are doing is showing that Aoi is a terrible Trickstar player for anyone that plays the game competitively. Geez, if they are just making Aoi continue to play Trickstars as Blue Girl just for the card sells, they aren’t doing a very good job of convincing people to play them if she continues to lose with them. The summary did however say that Blue Girl is going to be using some new tactics so maybe she is going to using a different Extra Deck summoning as well. I can see Trickstars getting any of them besides Xyz since they don’t have many monsters that share the same levels.
Or, you know, Aoi finally got herself a play set of Droll & Lock Bird during the three month time skip and is now putting them to use. Very doubtful but I would laugh my ass off if she actually did pull off the Reincarnation lock. Soulburner’s reaction to that would be gold XD
The interactions between these two is what I’m really working forward to. If Akira told Aoi that Soulburner is one of the Lost Children, I wonder how she is going to react to him considering her reaction when she found out about Playmaker’s backstory. Then there’s Soulburner and once he finds out about Blue Girl being Blue Angel, this guy is just going to be fanboying like crazy. I feel like this duel is going to be something similar to Selena vs Yugo and that’s just going to be amazing.
There’s also the fact that they could be Speed Dueling in a windstorm still because of Windy and considering from the preview of 55 showed that Blue Girl looked to have fallen off her board already because of the wind, I can honestly see if happening again dueling this duel with Soulburner saving her. Does that look good on Aoi’s character? Nope but that would still be adorable regardless. However that might just me being biased because I’m really liking the idea of Aoi/Blue Angel/Blue Girl x Takeru/Soulburner.
And speaking of the whole Aoi situation, I seen some people not happy about this duel since Aoi is definitely going to lose and that just goes back to the whole females getting terrible treatment in Yu-Gi-Oh. However, I look at it this way. After this duel, Aoi has officially dueled three of the Lost Children: Yusaku/Playmaker, Spectre, and Takeru/Soulburner. No one else at this point has dueled all of the confirmed Lost Children (Jin doesn’t count until he duels). I feel like that’s an accomplishment on its own and she did put up some memorable fights against them, regardless of the fact that she did lose to Playmaker and Spectre. Plus, look at it like this, if something should happen to the boys, like they go hivemind for example because of their Ignises, Aoi has the connections to them to at least free one of them from their control, giving her the big win she truly deserves. Of course, that’s just speculation at this point, who knows if that plot line will actually happen, but she does have the connections to do something. But no seriously, if she doesn’t get her rematch with Spectre, I will be very disappointed and I will so be fixing that in my Dark Signer AU for sure.
So yeah, I’ve got a lot of expectations for this duel and I can’t wait to see it play out next week. Same for what is going to lead into this duel during episode 55 which I’m very much looking forward to that as well.
