I've seen this video going around, and figured I would write a little bit on them.
Marine Evacuation Systems (MES) are pretty cool.
When you are that high up (20-50 meters, sometimes 87m (285ft)) in the air the "chute" method is highly effective compared to the more common "ramp" that you might see on cruise ships (similar to on airplanes), which may also use a mini-chute depending on height.
They are practically the only evacuation method that can evacuate over 700 people in less than thirty minutes, and can handle itself in extreme high winds and even rockier waves.
You only need one person to activate, and from the moment you drop the chute and begin inflation it will only take 60-90 seconds. You can evacuate over 200 people in less than ten minutes.
The rafts will begin inflating and can hold up to, and some exceeding, 700 people. I've included some additional photos of what those rafts look like:
hi. if anyone who sees this has any extra cash, i would really, really appreciate if you'd consider donating to this fundraiser to evacuate a three year old girl, faya, and her parents from gaza before the rafah crossing closes. their original gofundme was shut down and time is running out. the new fundraiser, hosted on gogetfunding, can be found here:
hello! I have a very important request of you all! My platform on here isn’t huge but I think it’s the one I can make the most impact on.
If you can, please donate to the link below. they are incredibly close to their goal. Mosa Hammad is trying to get his family out and into Egypt and it’s crucial that we help get them out as quickly as possible because of the border closing soon. He has small children that need to get out and be safe. Thank you.
My long time friend Asma launched a fundraiser to evacuate her family from Gaza.
Asma has been trying to get her uncles, aunts, and remaining family members evacuated from Gaza. Last month, she managed to collect enough money to get her grandmother out of Gaza. After exhausting all other options, she has started a gofundme in the hopes that she can raise enough money to get everyone else out safely.
They survived their house being bombed and being buried under the rubble, but one of her aunt has several injuries including clavicle fracture and a spinal injury that makes it hard for her to move or walk. One of her cousins needs jaw surgery. In the same bombing, her other aunt's entire family was martyred. Since then they have been displaced many times as their health conditions have continued to worsen.
Please try to donate and/or share this post to give them a chance to heal and recover before it is too late. Thank you.
For those who don't know due to the overwhelming number of persons reaching out to Operation Olive Branch they have temporarily closed the referral section. A lot of families still aren't on their list but need help as well.
Mohamed's goal is at 10k and he's only got $1,000 so far. Please let's help him and his family.
Another family I hope to help:
Roshdi's mother messaged me to share their gofundme. Read their full story and if you can please try to help even if it's a small donation. This is Roshdi's Instagram.
Please please share. That literally takes nothing and someone who can give will eventually come across it.
I’m now pivoting my jewelry fundraiser to help my sister’s friend, Hanaa, evacuate her family! They’re currently $16,500/$100,000 of their goal, so they urgently need all the help they can get!
