I am being bitten by a Love Live ficbunny, and I need to get some thoughts out.

So, the concept is that just as μ's is winding down, just before the third years' graduation, a young girl is recruited as a professional idol by a big talent and media agency: Yazawa Cocoro, Nico's little sister. She ultimately jumps at the chance to be an idol just like her big sister, the Number 1 Idol in the Universe. Said big sister is working desperately to parlay her fame as a member of the (genuinely popular and ground-breaking) school idol unit μ's into a professional career, and is equally desperate not to let on that she's having any difficulty.

I'm envisioning this as a crossover with Idolmaster Cinderella Girls U149, with Cocoro joining 346Pro's Third Entertainment Division (because a. it's a property I know, b. so I don't have to make up idols or staff for an idol agency, and c. because I want to see the two casts' personalities bouncing off each other). So the structure would sort of alternate between wholesome kid shenanigans for a chapter, and then a chapter of Nico struggling with applications and interviews — and with suppressing her bitterness that she has had to, and is having to, work and suffer when her little sister gets handed this on a silver platter.

(I'm also thinking of an early scene where Nico discusses the recruitment with the other girls, and there being some worry among them before Hanayo talks about 346Pro's sterling reputation; Hanayo will provoke Nico into gushing over some of the 346 idols before remembering she's supposed to be bitter and suspicious. I'm also looking forward to Nico meeting the U149 Producer, because I'm pretty sure they're about the same height.)

Part of the idea is exploring the relationship between the school idol world and the professional idol industry; I'm thinking there's a range of opinions among industry higher-ups, with some viewing it as a feeder into the pro world, like the equivalent of minor league baseball or college sports, and some others viewing participating in school idol activities as an admission that the girl couldn't cut it in the pro world. (I figure some of the production companies help fund the Love Live and/or School Idol Festival partly for goodwill and partly for talent scouting.) Likewise, opinions among idols will probably vary similarly — some viewing it as strictly amateur hour, some envying the talent on display (we have staff to write songs and make costumes and do choreography, and they're doing it all themselves!), and some wishing they could participate with school friends. Perhaps some of the high school-age idols started as school idols? How do their former teammates feel about that? And do school idols universally look up to pro idols, or is there some suspicion? Disdain for "selling out"?

At one point, Nico will get a job offer from 346Pro — and have a great deal of difficulty, because she's going to feel like they're recruiting her partly because of her sister (who's been, as usual, gushing about her big sister to everyone in earshot) and not on her own merits.

(And I'll admit part of Cocoro's gushing is to set up a scene where Risa gets fed up with it and sneers "Eh, she's just a school idol." Near-violence ensues.)

Man, SIP isn't even my end of the franchise, and I haven't written a fic in years. If someone else wants to run with this, go ahead, but I just might get to writing something.

Competent women. Well, competent people. Quietly competent problem-solvers, who look at a problem, examine it, and find a solution.

Even if that problem is ‘I don’t want him to break my heart’ and the solution is ‘I’m going to freeze him out of my life so he can’t’.

14. Tropes I'd only read if written by a trusted friend or writer.

So, I don’t actually read by trusted friends or writers (sorry, guys), I read very specifically by my pairings or characters, and then usually I’m pretty indiscriminate (unless it’s someone I really can’t stand).

Perhaps one of the few exceptions I’ve ever made has been reading Intersecting Geodesics, a Jack/Ianto Torchwood fic, which was Torchwood (I didn’t really watch the show), Jack/Ianto (I didn’t care for the pairing), and slutty!Jack (I’m not generally a fan of one of the paired characters sleeping around in the context of the story: it’s not the sexytimes that I’m reading for, it’s the dynamic of the focal relationship that I’m looking to hook me into the story, and that’s hard to get when one of the characters is being a slut - ethical or otherwise).

17. Highly specific AUs I want.

I want to read this, not write it myself. It won’t happen, though, because I’m the only writer who would even try.

Avengers: Civil War as per the MCU, but with Maria HIll and Pepper Potts are significantly in it, and focused on the question of what kind of reins can you use on superhumans who either have the power or technology or reputation to just ignore the rules? And I want Maria on the side of regulations and restraint with Tony, and Extremis!Pepper on the side of ‘this is me, are you asking me to not be who I am’ with Steve, and Maria/Steve and Tony/Pepper and all the other Avengers - and including the Wakandans, who qualify as an entire country of people who have the tech and power to just ignore the rules if they so choose (led by a king who exemplifies this by having both the physical power and the tech).

And both Maria’s significant involvement and Maria/Steve are non-negotiable.

Caleb sips at his pint, the memories of two nights ago flooding back.  Niamh’s piercing scream of terror as she was tossed over the bridge; knowing the terror that she felt as her tiny body tumbled hundreds of feet below.  The rush of adrenaline as it forced him to decide, shoving all thoughts of fear away so he could dive over the side of the bridge into the murky waters of the Shannon after the child.  The utter terror at realizing in that very moment he was leaving the man he loves more than anyone else in this world to face the wrath of a someone he once called friend.  

Kaidan’s hand squeezes again, pulling him back to the present.  “Hey,” he murmurs.

Swallowing it back, he shifts uneasily in his seat.  “I…I know we haven’t talked much about the future, of what shape it might take for us,” he begins, “but I know I want us together.”

“I like that,” Kaidan agrees immediately, pushing his glass aside.  “But I get the feeling you’ve got something more than that on your mind?”

“I do.”  Caleb downs half his glass in one swig.  False courage, to be sure, but strangely enough it does help him settle.  “I’d like Tadhg and Niamh to be part of that.  With us.”

Kaidan reaches over with his other hand, waiting patiently until Caleb joins it with his.  “I have a feeling I’ll be a bit outnumbered,” he replies, a hint of a smile at his lips that reaches his eyes, “but I can’t deny the idea is appealing.  They’re good kids and they’ve been through hell.”

“And I don’t want them ending up like I almost did,” Caleb finishes.  He lifts their joined hands, pulling one so he can lean his cheek against it.  “I could have so easily ended up on the streets of Shannon, like they were.  I never would have found my way to the Alliance, or to you.”

Kaidan shakes his head.  “You don’t know that.  Some things were just meant to be, Shepard.  You?  Me?  We’d have found a way.  Maybe it would have been different, but we’d have found each other.”

He stares at him for a long minute in complete silence.  “You really believe that?”

Ok, I have no Detroit shenanigans for Yuri on Ice, but...

Somewhere in the University of Michigan is a fraternity where the brothers are STILL telling legen-freakin-dary stories about the time that someone brought a cute Japanese nerd from the Wayne State dance program to a frat house kegger.

Phichit was home for two weeks visiting his family and Yuuri was feeling fragile after bombing GPF AND Nationals; he was in his last year and worrying about graduating when (in his view) he had already failed in the worst way; no one was around to tell Yuuri’s well-meaning but crazy Detroit theatre friends that maybe pouring a gallon of cheap college beer down his throat at a frat party in Ann Arbor was a terrible idea.

Yuuri wakes up the next morning at noon in one of the dorm beds, only wearing his boxer briefs, with a pair of neon pink ladies’ tights on his head. His bare legs are wrapped firmly around a road cone. None of his other clothes are in evidence. He searches the room frantically; the only thing that doesn’t stink of beer or BO is an enormous Redwings jersey.

Any hope of sneaking out quietly dies when he appears at the top of the stairs in jersey and tights and is greeted by thunderous applause. People feed him leftover pizza, hotdogs and Coke; he stringently turns down all offers of more beer, as well as requests to ‘do that thing with your thighs again’*. Some kind sorority sister gets him an Uber back to Detroit.

He still has a bunch of Facebook friends from UMich. Several years later his stalker husband is scrolling down ‘Photos of Yuuri’ and finds...well, photos of Yuuri, which Yuuri had no idea existed and has to frantically untag in a fit of hysterics.

(Phichit also has a fit of hysterics, for different reasons.)

a) In this comic, the playoff games switch home/away/home in a 2/3/2 format, the way baseball does and the way the NHL for a few years in the 90s

b) Home jerseys in OMGCP universe are white, so Tater got injured in the second of three games in Seattle, and therefore stayed in Seattle and then travelled home with the team for games 6 and 7

Hi! Do you have any headcanons about the Howling Commandos?

Okay well sorry in advance 'nonny but it's been that kinda day so this answer might be a bit depressing

(to offset that here's an old ask with Howlie headcanons)

14 Headcanons about the Howling Commandos:

1 - all of the guys in the 107 who were captured by Hydra and put to work in the Krausberg POW-camp/factory later died of radiation-related cancers because of being exposed to Tesseract energy. (This was reported upon in the scientific press, post-war, and is part of the reason why people like Bruce Banner were duped into believing that the Bio-Tech Force Enhancement Project would be interested in a gamma-radiation sickness treatment.)

2 - Because Steve made the 107 famous, post-war there was a controversy of unscrupulous members of the 107 who hadn't been captured (ie. the guys who threw rotten food and homophobic jeers at Steve) claiming to have been in Krausberg. But the fact that those guys didn't develop the same health problems as real 107 rescue-ees unmasked them as valour thieves. (Especially galling for the Howlies, since Dum-Dum had had to fight for the government to officially recognise Gabe and Morita's valour in medals, as they deserved.)

3 - one of the Howlies' acquaintance Steve never got to meet was Izzy Cohen, a kid Bucky took under his wing from basic training onwards, who had lied about being underage in order to get into the Army. The same guns which Bucky and the guys were later forced to make for the Nazis turned him into a blue mist at Azzano.

4 - Gabe and Morita came from all-POC squads who were killed off completely because the Nazi guards at Krausberg were hardest on them and because they were the first Zola picked off to experiment on. (This presaged later torture by Zola of Isaiah's men, and of Asian civilians by Werner Reinhardt; both men hired by Peggy's SHIELDra).

5 - During the war Gabe once sat next to Bucky at a campfire, watching Steve perform some feat of extraordinary strength across the way, and -- thinking of his friends he had lost -- asked Bucky what Zola did to them all in the lab. Bucky couldn't talk about it...

6 - over Christmas 1943, before being deployed back to the continent, the Howlies were sent on intense specialised training in the coastal village of Aberdyfi in North Wales, under the auspices of a secretly all Jewish troop of Continental-European Commandos, called X Troop.

7 - because Monty was in with all the right chaps in the Old Boys network, he was able to give Steve et al insight into a lot of the political goings on behind the scenes in the British forces, give him a hint on which of the English intelligence-officers to dismiss due to incompetence, nepotism hiring, etc. Monty once took Steve and Bucky to the London Ritz, where the basement bar was a gay club. 👀

8 - during missions in France the Howlies met Virginia Hall, Noor Inayat Khan (Morita proposed to her while drunk), Logan Howlett (an old war buddy of Dum-Dum's), and Ernest Hemingway (whom they did not think much of: despite being just a journalist, he was waving a handgun around trying to 'liberate' the Paris Ritz... which had been long abandoned by the Nazis by the time he got there.)

9 - while filming movies as part of his USO tour, Steve was biletted at a place called Fort Roach, California, where the US Army Air Force's First Motion Picture Unit was making animated war-propaganda short movies for cinemas. While there, he got Bucky a signed animation-cell of 'Trigger Joe' and met (and punched) some actor guy called Donald Reagan??

10 - During the Allied Invasion of Sicily, the Howlies met three Brits who were introduced to Steve later on, in London. In the modern-day, Steve was delighted to discover that two of them had gone on to become famous actors after the war: one of them starred in Star Wars and another -- still alive -- in Lord of the Rings. He and Christopher Lee kept in touch (Bucky and CL agree that it's great they got the stabbing-noises right in the movies). It blew Tony's mind when he found Steve listening to an advance copy of a heavy metal album, that his 'buddy Chris' had sent him from England. Bucky kind of had a crush on him back in the day... (The third Brit the Howlies met in Sicily was 'Mad Jack' Churchill, of broadsword, longbow and bagpipe fame; Bucky wrote his Scottish dad a delighted letter about it).

11 - Steve and the guys once had to physically restrain Bucky from punching General Patton, during one of their morale-boosting visits to a Field Hospital. (One of the guys at this particular hospital had just had his leg blown off. And Bucky made sure Steve visited in his dirtied combat gear, and not looking immaculate, because he remembered how demoralising it was for bedridden pre-serum Steve if Bucky waltzed in looking all dapper, while Steve was feeling his worst.) The punishment for this incident was the Howlies having to let news crews follow them around for a week, filming propaganda newsreels.

12 - they also repeatedly got in trouble for damaging historic churches in Germany ('accidentally' blowing off the antisemitic Judensau carvings) and loitering in Nazi-occupied areas to put up anti-Nazi graffiti on public buildings (Steve loved exercising the old artistic muscles again.)

13 - after the war, Gabe became a leading light of the Civil Rights Movement in the South. He was once present for one of the Winter Soldier's assassinations in Manhattan, but didn't see who was responsible. (In another universe, where Isaiah Bradley escaped a lot sooner and managed to get to Macon, GA, he and Gabe teamed up to become a sort of Holmes-and-Watson vigilante duo.)

14 - Steve's tactical innovation for the D-Day Landings was to imitate the testudo or shield-wall formation of Roman legions. By standing at the front of one of the LCVPs as it hit the beach, holding a massive piece of steel as a shield, he was able to lead Bucky and the boys (plus 30 others, carrying a second giant shield) safely up the beach, plant the steel-shield, and then retreat to repeat this with each incoming landing craft. This was bastardised in a famous war movie, where Steve McQueen's Captain America simply did an Evel Knievel motorcycle jump over the fortifications to land on the German guns. Everyone is disappointed when Steve has to tell them he never did this. (Bucky keeps telling everyone he did... 🤦‍♀️🙄)
