Note
Bree, do you have any historical information on May Day? Thanks in advance!
Only what I've read on wikipedia, tbh.
From what I can tell, it's one of many seasonal festivals that celebrates the end of spring and the official/unofficial beginning of the summer season. Lots of different cultures have some version of it, but May Day as we know it stems from a blend of different European regional festivals. Common threads include the gathering of tree boughs, flower garlands, singing, dancing, bonfires, courtship and fertility customs, offerings to various deities or saints associated with the same, parades, feasting, contests of physical prowess (mostly running and swimming races), and carnival-like community gatherings.
On a colloquial note, it's also the subject of a fun and saucy number from the musical "Camelot," and a downright naughty tune entitled "First of May" by Jonathan Coulton.
If You Know, You Know. 😏

Most of the people I have ended up talking about this, or tried to explain the point and meaning of vappu or juhannus to, have been from California or somewhere, and have usually been like: "Huh?". As we say in Finland, "Suomen suvi on lyhyt mutta vähäluminen".

Every so often, I have to grouse at my Eldest for cackling. But, on the way in to work, I had *the* worst idea. And, at first, I was just gonna tell people about it, and let they do the psychic damage it needed to.
But, then, as I passed Pizza Hut, I had an even worse thought:
How to make it work.
And I cackled. I sounded like a cartoon hyena.
I still have to do the work. Still gotta write it, if I want to wreak the havoc this idea was born to wreak. But I will give you the seed, the thought that started it.

It's May 1st, 2024
Do you know what your favorite recreational/erotic hypnosis convention has been up to?
Well... nothing, because it's a convention, and it gets up to very little when it has no attendees in it.
But in just nine short months, we'll all be heading to Annapolis again!
(Slightly less than nine, actually.)
And for Charmed!2024 we've added a free newsletter for people who prefer to get their information via email rather than camping out in our Discord! The first one came out today, and you can read it HERE!
Charmed! ChitChat! will be released monthly and will contain things like calendar information, staff introductions, and updates on any changes to our policies. Please do consider subscribing!

Hauskaa Vappua.
Klara Vappen.
Walpurgis Night, also called Vappu or Vappen in Finnish and Valborg in Swedish, is a holiday in Finland and Swedish, in line with Midsummer. Celebrated over 30th April – 1st May, the holiday marks the feast of Saint Walpurga (710 – 777 A.D.). Walpurga, sometimes also called Walpurgis, was a missionary who spread Christianity in Germany. She studied medicine, opened a monastery, and was believed to repel witchcraft. Her entombed remains are still said to secrete healing oil.
