In honor of Valentine’s Day, here’s a vintage bone china teacup and saucer made in England by Princess Anne and sold as a Valentine's Day gift. A prominent pink heart bearing the message "For My Sweetheart" is surrounded by forget-me-nots and blue ribbon, plus pink and yellow roses and bluebirds on a white background accented with gold trim. The scallop-edged shape was very common in the 1950s. The motifs are replete with meaning that would have been well understood at the time, especially roses as symbols of love, and the bluebird representing happiness.
“For My Valentine” fine bone china cup and saucer by Princess Anne China, a brand of the English company Shore & Coggins.
Teacup and saucer sets were very popular collectibles, primarily with women, from the post World War II era into the 1960s. Shore & Coggins produced fine bone china, offering full sets of dinnerware as well as giftware under the brand name Princess Anne China at their Edensor Works on New Street (renamed Greendock Street in the 1950s) in Stoke-on-Trent, from the late 1940s until 1966. Ridgeway Potteries then acquired the name and continued producing bone china under this brand through the 1980s.
Sweet old-fashioned motifs representing love and happiness adorn this charming vintage cup and saucer.

In this blog I said that I would share my process and journey with art and this could be seen as another step n that journey.
On valentines day I decided to post on Tik Tok for the first time. I was fairly nervous because I tend to have a hard time getting personality to come across in most of my posts about my artwork. I probably spent more than thirty minutes trying to come up with something to post and then trying to record it and get the transitions just right. I was really nervous about posting the video. It was not very serious and the illustrations were fairly simple; however, I had a lot of fun making the video. In fact, I enjoyed making this a lot more than I normally enjoy making my YouTube videos. I think the reason why I enjoyed it so much is because it told a story and communicated a message, even though it was a silly message. I would like to incorporate this story-telling theme into my artworks going forward.
