Monkey D. Luffy/Roronoa Zoro:

They are literally each other’s favorite people. They are undyingly loyal and would go to the ends of the each for each other. On multiple occasions they have put their lives on the line.

Zoro (King of Hell) doesn't believe in any god but his devotion to his captain Luffy (Sun God Nika) is borderline religious. He would do anything for him, even giving up his own life so Luffy could continue chasing his dream even when he has dreams of his own: "If I can't even protect my captain's dream, then whatever ambition I have is nothing but talk!"

He'd follow him to the ends of the earth: "If you're gonna invite our captain to hell, I'm coming along as well!"

There's also the immense faith Luffy has in Zoro: "You caught Zoro? Then you're going to get cut." "It's okay (to leave him), Zoro will never lose." "How could this (everyone injured including Zoro) happen... when you (Zoro) were here?" like he himself can't believe that Zoro will ever fail to protect their friends. Luffy would do anything to protect his crew even when he has to suffer alone, and yet when it comes to it Zoro is the only person he'd let suffer with him because that's how much he believes in his strength.

Siffrin is soooo insecure and I'm 100% sure Isa could fix him if he wanted to. They love telling each other just the worst puns and jokes imaginable.

[SPOILERS] -> Isa was a big nerd before he decided he wanted to be a huge jock and now he wants to design clothes now that he saved his county (along side his other friends)

Siff is just a little guy (literally)(he is short) who loves the stars abs doesn't remember a lot about his past. He constantly worries if he's being enough for the rest of his companions and always tries his best to make sure they're happy. He has soooo much trouble seeing value in himself and prioritizing his own needs and it makes me soooo sad :( he deserves to have someone like Isa.

Frustration at his incompetence turns into fondness at his endearingness. They make no sense as a pair to anyone else but they have to admit that the two of them somehow work well together against all odds. they're so entwined with each other that if you look up photos of "guardian chu shuzhi" the second result is just a picture of Guo Changcheng from the wiki. bonded pair do not separate.

For context:

A bunch of high schoolers going to the same school but without much connection beside that (which mean they can get quite critical of each others when it's their POVs' turn) get sucked into a different, dangerous world called Everworld. When they fall asleep on Everworld, they wake up in our ordinary world and the reverse also works. Here, Christopher (who had to platonically share a bed with Jalil, if I remember things well), is sleeping in Everworld and awake in our world.

Christopher, while talking to his little brother and defending himself from being racist:

"Hey ! It so happens I'm trapped in hell with a black guy, I spent last night with a black guy! I'm sleeping with him right now...now in - " I stopped. About two-dozen words too late.

"No way!" Mark yelled, his face a mixture of shock, amazement, gloating, and unease. "Oh, man. Oh, man."

"That came out wrong,” I said.

"Oh, man. No, no, that's cool. I'm down with that. That's cool. Each his own, man. I support you. You know, you gotta be what you gotta be, Tinky Winky."

I started to explain. Started to correct. But he was gone, out the door, no doubt to spread the word.

"Not that there's anything wrong with that, " I said to his back.

A classic Seinfeld line . I had just had a perfect sitcom moment . A classic sitcom setup . Sitcomworld had just intruded into the real world. Surreal. It made me a little uncomfortable. Not as uncomfortable as Fenrir, Loki's bus-sized wolf-son popping into my world had made me, but uncomfortable.

Timothy "Tim" Drake/Bernard Dowd:

Tim and Bernard getting together is historical, marking a change in the direction of comics. For a long time, DC has been playing it safe, usually making background and minor characters queer, or introducing characters with their queerness as a plot point. Tim is not only a major character, but one of the most popular in the lineup, and was generally treated as VERY straight for most of his history. So putting him in a relationship with another man was a loud way of pushing comics in a more progressive direction like they were earlier in their existence. Not only that, but Bernard was NOT a love interest invented for this role, but an established character from earlier in Tim's story, one who was not only conceived of as straight, but behaved aggressively sexually towards women and only women. By stating that he had a crush on Tim at the time, it reframes what was a pretty common type of joke in the era into terms that are easier to understand and sympathize with as a queer person, woman, or any other comics reader that isn't thought of as the default. It gives the story a lot more depth, and opens possibilities of complex queer readings of earlier works through this lens.

Pat/Pran:
