Bubba and Squirt’s Shield of Athena by Sherry Ellis
Bubby and Squirt’s Shield of Athena by Sherry Ellis. – Book 4 in the Bubby and Squirt Adventure Series. Squirt whirls around. Her wide eyes tell it all. She’s found the gargoyle. A high-pitched screech fills the air. It echoes through the cave, making my hair stand on end. I look for a hiding place but find none. “What do we do now?” “Run!” Squirt charges toward the path and scrambles down. A…

So. I am so mad. There was a book the librarian wanted the book club kids to read but she couldn’t cause it was risky. The risk? A woman mentioning she has a wife. That’s it. And the county could get on her neck about this and she’s very sad she can’t get the book for the club

Georgia is one of the worst states to be a disabled person in. I was born with ASD and disabilities to my hearing with partial deafness, and I became a pariah when I was the victim of Facial Disfigurement when I was 17, and then I became public enemy number 1 when I had a melt down when I was 26 and have been FALSELY IMPRISONED ever since. I need to get out of this state and away from my family.

Dear Tumblr,
My debut memoir, The Risk It Takes to Bloom: On Life and Liberation, will be out on 11/14/23. It's been dubbed a passionate, powerful memoir by a trailblazing Black transgender activist, tracing her life of transformation and her work towards collective liberation.
The best way to support this first-time Black trans author is to pre-order please!

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (and more)
The late Jack Leigh may be most remembered for his image, “Midnight,” a 1993 photograph of a sculpture called “Bird Girl” in Savannah, Georgia’s Bonaventure Cemetery. The image was a commissioned for the cover of author John Berendt’s novel, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. But Leigh’s career stretches beyond the single image. “Jack Leigh: Full Circle, Low Country Photographs, 1972-2004,” at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) Museum of Art celebrates his legacy.

Breakout from the 4th Wall
Georgia paced the room. "Is it not weird that we just came to be one day?"
"It's called birth, smart-ass." Gengo rolled his eyes and huffed. "Ate some philosophical soup today?"
Gigi stopped pacing the room to frown at Gengo. "No, 'smart-ass'- Hey! I would not say that!" Gigi stomped her feet. "I do not even know what it means!"
"It's a funny insult, Gigi." I smile.
Gigi looked at me wide-eyed. "Who-Who are you? How- How do you know my name?"
"I gave it to you." I smile at Gigi once more.
"'Gave'... it to me?" Gigi squinted her eyes at me, skeptical. Then she took a step back, opening her mouth in awe. "You- You- lo-look like me?!"
I laugh nervously and scratch the top of my head. "That's a story for another day! Bye!"
"Hey!" Gigi yelled after me in vain. "Did- Did you see that?" The teacher turned to the polyglot.
"See what?"
"That... That person! They were here just this moment!" She threw her hands in the air.
"There is just you and me? Are you feeling okay? Do you have a fever?"
"But... But! They were talking to me, did you not hear them?" Gigi looked hopeless.
"Are you sure it wasn't just your pure imagination?" Gengo raised an eyebrow and inspected Gigi from head to toe.
"Not hers, but mine for sure." I smile at them mischievously, leaving them both shocked.
