Lele, I have a rambling though

We always have discussions about possibilities for SJM future books (especially acotar 5) and I always read interpretations that are done so very tastefully and with a lot of knowledge on text interpretation, book context and narratives

but the thing is… ppl always treat SJM as this super hiper mastermind and after HOFAS and how messy and not good it was (honestly it was terrible) … I’m a little afraid about acotar 5 and sjm choosing to go with the easiest way (which, for me, would be choosing Elriel - since with Gwyn she would have to treat her trauma her carefully and be more cautions on her narrative) and I don’t know if I see her doing it 😓

(Also… I would like to say as my last though of someone who is following her since 2018 - that SJM loves to write about powerful woman and the friendships between them and their bonds but to let the fandom be where it is today… young impressionable girls treating each other with such hostility and disrespect… I know she probably can’t say anything bc of contracts but man is a hard pillow to swallow that she “let” the fandom be where it is today… which is a horrible place.)

A big difference between acotar and hofas is how thoughtfully she generally treats the acotar characters. I've been thinking a lot about this the past few days and the main thing I dislike about hofas is how the plot and world building absolutely take over everything to the detriment of the characters. I cannot understate how much I dislike Bryce, and I've always pinpointed her lack of consistent values as the core reason why. hofas really, really emphasized that writing flaw. Not character flaw, but writing flaw.

People acting like sjm is some mastermind drives me crazy when we can see all the plot holes and inconsistencies and retcons. One of these days, someone should make a list of them. Anyway, she mentioned rereading the acotar series sometime last year, and I would bet you good money that she did so in order to see what she can use. She has said explicitly that she isn't great at world building and she has also said that she didn't plan the crossover until she was writing hosab. That means any connection we see between hofas and, for instance, acomaf, is a result of her going backwards to see what she can use. Not the other way around. She "planned" in the sense that she wrote really vague stuff in the first place so that she could use it how she wanted to later on. That has become really apparent to me with the crossover.

Like... for example, Mor's power is "truth". Vague as fuck, right? I would bet good money (again haha like I'm rich) that sjm didn't even know what that meant in acomaf other than "I need a reason for the mortal queens to trust Mor". And then she'll figure out the mechanics and technicalities later and the fandom will call her brilliant for it. *facepalm*

I don't see e*riel being easy at all. But that's all I will say about that hehe.

Gwyn's story aligns perfectly with what sjm has already been doing in acotar, with Rhys and Lucien, and to an extent Nesta. I don't have any concerns there because I think her strength is in her characterization. (CC is just... another beast.) There was an interview she did a while back where she talked about the movie Promising Young Woman and it really emphasized to me that sjm's particular brand of feminism revolves around gender and sex. This isn't a critique, just a statement of what I've observed. My point is that she is very aware of rape culture and has strong feelings about it and gives characters the space to heal on page, and so that's not really a concern of mine, especially in acotar.

To your final point, I got SO frustrated the other day in the group chat, @sabrinasam said it was the most frustrated she's ever seen me haha. I'm so tired of sjm and the publisher being coy about this!!!! But mostly, I am so, so sick of people in this fandom treating each other like shit just because they don't agree on ships. Like it's one thing to have notps and brotps and to be annoyed by or even hate certain characters. It's a completely different thing when people feel totally comfortable going out in public and treating other actual, real, human people like absolute garbage because of those feelings.

Azriel is never gonna lick your fucking home entertainment center!!! Get the fuck over it!!!!!!!!!

I don't think that sjm is at fault for this because I think that people are responsible for their own actions. I also fully believe that the people taking screenshots and mocking them publicly (of people who probably have them blocked anyway, fucking stalkers) or just outright attacking people on different platforms would be doing that exact same thing whether it was about sjm or not. Like you could just stick them in another fandom, and these people would act the same deplorable way.

Anyway. I'm fucking tired. I'm still excited for acotar5 and will continue that series and when I was doing a lil voice chat with my friends for hours last weekend it revived my enjoyment of acotar and ToG. The fandom just makes it a lot of work, trying to have fun.

in defense of cutler beckett

it’s kind of a tradition of mine to periodically write “in defense of” essays for unpopular characters (see “in defense of celegorm” and “in defense of bunny corcoran” lol), and idk what it says about me that i frequently feel the urge to advocate in favor of characters that are deemed unlikable/ unredeemable/ unworthy of attention by their respective fandoms, but i’m rolling with it lol. anyway, today, i want to focus on lord cutler beckett from pirates of the caribbean, because the general consensus about him on tumblr these days is… pretty abysmal lol, but i think he deserves a closer look. beckett seems to be the vast majority of people’s least favorite character, and not in an ironic way like some of the characters in POTC are treated online, like oh haha yeah barbossa was kinda annoying for going all ghost zombie mode on everyone but also we love him, weird eclectic uncle vibes, woo!.... no, everyone just straight-up hates beckett. and look: i get it, i really do. beckett is a much “realer” villain than davy jones or barbossa or salazar or any of the other POTC baddies, and that makes him much easier to hate. he’s not a giant octopus or a cursed skeleton or a slimy ghost guy with mystical powers, he’s literally just some guy– and he’s an asshole of a guy, because he’s basically just a random capitalist who wants all our favorite characters swinging from the gallows because they’re getting in the way of his trading schemes. and, if you count the price of freedom as canon, he’s also a slave trader, which is pretty unambiguously terrible. but despite all that, i actually like beckett. in fact, he’s one of my favorite characters in POTC: although it’s important to note that when i say that, i’m in no way saying that i condone his actions or that i think he’s morally good. as i see it, it’s totally valid to enjoy villainous characters while also acknowledging that they’re evil/problematic/whatever and that their actions are not morally acceptable in the real world. but the realm of POTC– where people (including the “good guys,” might i add!) are murdering and backstabbing each other left and right, any and all historical accuracy has to be taken with several grains of salt, and occult magic and sea goddesses and evil fish-men casually exist– is pretty far from “the real world” if you ask me lol. but anyway, let’s get into it then, shall we! (adding a read-more bc this is LONG oop)

beckett gets a really bad rap in the POTC fandom not just because he’s a ‘problematic’ character, but because on the surface, he comes across as a very one-dimensional, and therefore boring, villain. there are certainly other not-so-morally-pure characters in POTC that don’t seem to get the same treatment beckett does… no one really seems to talk about how pintel and ragetti threatened to r*pe elizabeth in the curse of the black pearl, for example. but pintel and ragetti are goofy comedic relief fan faves, and they’re also on the “good side” (aka the side of the pirates), so they have some redeeming qualities. in contrast, beckett is unique in POTC– a franchise famous for morally complex characters– for his seeming complete lack of redemptive nuance. he’s easy to understand as a villain because he’s just one of those villains who’s bad just ‘cause he can be. and he sucks! he’s ruthless, he’s power-hungry and materialistic, he plots against the pirates simply because they’re an inconvenience to him, and he represents the unjust authority which jack sparrow and the “good guys” stand against. the law permits beckett to freely exploit people in the name of the east india company, but does not allow jack and his companions even a chance of survival if they’re caught: and he knows how unfair this is, and doesn’t care. but here’s the thing: at its core, POTC is a pirate story told by pirates. of course we’re going to root for jack, will, elizabeth, and the gang over characters like beckett and norrington… because the pirates are the ones in control of the narrative. if we want, we can choose to believe them when they show us how much beckett sucks (and to be fair, they’re largely right lol), but it’s sort of boring, i feel, to just readily absorb the story that’s made most prominently visible to us and not bother to examine other perspectives. 

so let’s talk about beckett’s motives. maybe he really is power-hungry and exploitative because he just is, and that’s all there is to him… but again, that’s what the pirates think, but it’s worth considering other possibilities too. what is beckett’s backstory, then– what, if anything, prompted him to go on his pirate-killing spree? well, in the movies, he doesn’t have one. he kinda just shows up one day and crashes will and elizabeth’s wedding as an obnoxious power flex, and from that point on, he’s just, like, there and he hates the pirates REALLY bad and wants to kill them all through any means possible, seemingly just because he can. the price of freedom, though, does give beckett a backstory. i’m not going to summarize the entire thing here, but in it, he and jack once worked together for the east india co. before eventually having a big mutual betrayal where jack wasn’t a fan of the fact that beckett was transporting some slaves, so he freed them all, which fucked beckett’s career over so beckett branded him as a pirate and then went on to become the asshole we see in the movies. but to be honest, this doesn’t really compel me all that much. it’s certainly an important moment for jack, but it explains away beckett’s motives the same vague way the movies do, aka by going “well, he’s just evil because he is/always was.”  

what was really going on with beckett to force him through such a transformation had to have been much more than jack fucking up his job one time. the price of freedom tells us that he was a sickly kid not expected to live past childhood and that he was lowkey abused by his family, so i think a desire to prove his own worth was definitely part of it. but i don’t think beckett became evil (or doomed, for that matter) when he branded jack as a pirate. there’s a point in the book (if i’m remembering correctly) where young beckett gets captured by pirates and his dad refuses to pay the bail to have him released. it doesn’t explain how he eventually managed to escape, but i can only imagine that the experience left him with some internal damage… a fear of losing control, most likely, and of being out of his element. that’s kind of a lot for a teenager to take in… not only that his family doesn’t want him and he’s gonna have to fend for himself for the rest of his life, but that the world is cruel and unforgiving to vulnerable people, and the only way for him to survive is to seize all of the power and control he can and never let it go… because, if he doesn’t become the biggest fish, then a bigger fish is going to come along and that’ll be the end of him. beckett never manages to get rid of this fear of instability and vulnerability, which– especially after jack’s betrayal– manifests itself in a hatred of and desire to dominate (perhaps an attempt to conquer or mask a secret, intense fear of?) pirates and the occult. and of course, this eventually becomes his downfall, as he freezes the second he makes a mistake in at world’s end and is so unable to move beyond the loss of the upper hand that he literally just dies. beckett’s death is exactly what he deserves, but it’s also a remarkably devastating moment granted to a character who, up until this point, we’ve been guided to unreservedly hate and root against. in the grand scheme, it represents the fall of the old order, but for beckett himself, it’s his worst nightmare coming true– it’s the loss of control he’s been fighting this whole time and not realized was sneaking up on him till it was literally staring him in the face… and that’s tragic, and we’re meant to think so! we see his fatal flaw laid bare in a way that we would normally only expect the narrative to do so for its heroes, and it’s an incredible and shocking moment, being forced to briefly see things from the other side. 

it’s hard for me to hate beckett as i watch him dying, and honestly it’s hard for me to hate him in general, because tbh i do resonate with him in some ways. obviously, his actions as a character are awful (and in particular, there’s no avoiding or diminishing the unequivocal evilness of the slave trading thing), and that’s what makes him a villain. but at the root of it all, i kinda just see a guy who’s sought to prove himself for so long that now he’s at the helm of this incredibly powerful and dangerous position that he cannot lose because he’s nothing without what he’s worked for, but even as he’s surrounded himself with people he can use as tools he has no one he can truly trust, so he projects this cold and calculating persona at all times because he has to, because it’s how he maintains control and he has to maintain control because without control he knows he’s already lost, but as tightly wound as he must be, he somehow manages not to break his composure even at the very end and goes down with his fucking ship in a moment that’s weirdly heroic… like. you don’t have to like beckett, but i do think he deserves respect. in a fandom full of wacky, fun, exciting characters, i know it’s not exactly intuitive to focus on the one decidedly un-supernatural, un-thrilling character… but in a story told by, about (and arguably for) pirates, beckett maybe rebels the most of all, by refusing, right down to his last moments, to succumb to a narrative that was never for him in the first place. and i think there’s something to be said about a character who-- villainous or not-- sticks by his principles till the end even as the very world around him bends to different rules, who doesn’t run from the law when it no longer benefits him but who acknowledges that he’s lost and owns it.

BWAH! You're not wrong. You know what I'm wondering, if they've put him in some of those outfits because they are showing his suburban dad side? It's kind of a subtle nod to him embracing father hood and a different way of life? He's now all about running around the yard after his daughter and not about what he looks like when he's being SERKAN BOLAT, FAMOUS BUSINESS MAN and WORLD'S BEST ARCHITECT.

Also, Eda's hair, thank goodness they let that go once the flashbacks were over and we didn't need something to distinguish between then and now! Those curly bangs were not it.

The scene was BEAUTIFUL I’m actually upset lol. are not we going to see any more? I’m not asking for a sex scene, I wanted to see THE moment they decided to get back together (the tattoo line doesn’t do it for me) - a few words, tears as they embrace, him walking through the door as she closes it, one passionate kiss, something! But it doesn’t feel like a cliffhanger that continues next week. I’ll be so underwhelmed when they cut to the morning after and we have to infer that they got back together overnight *sigh* if they were allowed 1 kiss only, id rather it have been here instead of ep 2

We do deserve to see how they reconcile, that should be one of the biggest moments of the season after 7 episodes of build up to it.

90% of final scenes in this show have continued uninterrupted the next week. To me there's no reason to think the next episode won't pick up right where this one left off. Crossing fingers!

Oh so true! Kemal really does love his mother more than she deserves! How he puts up with her, I don't know.

The parallel between Serkan/Kemal and Kiraz/Serkan is strong and I hope it gives Serkan some perspective when he starts grappling with this knowledge. I'm sure it's going to be very disconcerting for him, because while he expected to never see his father again, Alptekin is still his father. He's still the man who raised him and formed him into the man he is. Serkan still runs the company he founded and bears his name.

I don't expect any of that to change, but hopefully he can forge a separate relationship with Kemal that might fill some emotional holes that he has and bring him some peace.

None of that even contemplates how Kemal will feel, thankfully Aydan didn't willfully hide the truth from him. How awful to realize you lost 35 years.

We aren't there yet, but I wonder at what age with Kiraz learn the truth, that her dad is not an astronaut, that her parents went through hell with with cancer and plane crashes, and that her father didn't know of her existence until right before they met?

Just something to think about.

Yes, this is one of my pet peeves, I can't stand the "Edser left the chat" and all the "that's Hanker, not Edser" type conversation. it's so invasive and most of all disrespectful to not only the writers, but Hande and Kerem and all the work they pour into bringing Eda and Serkan to life.

One of the things in fandom that sets my teeth on edge is when folks take some interpretation of the character by the actor and then decide because it wasn't "scripted" (pro tip the vast majority of physical movements the actors make are "unscripted") that it must just be the actors themselves and have nothing to do with the characters. What an embarrassing and naïve assertion. Actors literal job is to take what's on the page and then translate that. So, no, OF COURSE, every look and touch is not scripted. The actors interpret how their characters would think and feel, and what they would do in given moments and then do those things.

Eda is not touching Serkan's arm just because Hande can't hold herself back from touching Kerem. Puh-lease, they are professionals. Grow up.

However, having said all that, I do think there was one scene that seemed to be very improvised this episode. The bean scene in the grocery store did feel like them just eFFing around. LOL.

Hee! So true. The thing I'm grateful for is that in season 2 not one fragman has made me dread the episode, I think there was at least one fragman an episode from 29-37 that was hella upsetting.

As far as I'm concerned these fragmans are doing there job, making me want to watch.

I am really excited for Serkan planning how he's going to ask Eda to marry him, I wonder what Kiraz's reaction is going to be. So far she's been their very own cupid!

Anonymous asked: I didn't find it surprising that Serkan removed his tattoo as soon as Eda left. His logic is always out of sight out of mind though it doesn't work. He did the same when he broke up with her when he found out about the death of her parents. He removed all of her belongings. But their memories are too strong and enough for him to continue to remember her.

Truth! Will he ever learn that it's never going to work? He'll never be able to erase Eda, she has left an indelible mark on his soul. Let's hope he's never faced with that situation again! From here on out, he and Eda are together, a unit, and will live a long life together and in love.

Anyone have any guesses where Eda's tattoo is? Will we find out or will it remain between the characters.

Anonymous asked: I've seen some people say that Edser are getting married now way too fast and to that I just have to laugh lol. First there were complaints we don't have happy Edser and now when we do, of course there's something else. These two have had a rollercoaster of a year when they first met and a five year separation.. they've been through the dating phase, the engaged phase.. of course they'll head straight to the altar! It's not like Eda's plane proposal and that first wedding wasn't rushed either!

I'm on team head straight to the alter! No more waiting. They've had terrible luck, so they just need to tie the knot and make sure there are no easy outs.

As for people who think it's too fast, they don't even know the storyline yet, I swear there are folks who complain just because that's their personality and they're never satisfied.

Anonymous asked: From some of the spoilers of BTS pics, and the fragman we got, I was just reflecting on this season and Turk romcom dizis in general and I just wanted to say how LUCKY we are to see Edser married (again, from spoilers) and with a kid on screen for more than just 10 minute at the end of the finale. Like, it is really rare and as much as people have nitpicked on this season in general, I feel like watching these last episodes have been such a breeze after the last arc of S1.

Oh agreed, I think these episodes have been very enjoyable. The writers are giving me exactly what I want from this show. Comedy, UST, romance with a little light angst thrown in now and again. I would rewatch this season a dozen times before even thinking about watching anything from the 30s.

We are very lucky that we've got to see them as parents, and actually forming their family. We've gotten so much domestic goodness so far and we still have a ways to go. I'm very appreciative of this season and that Ayse came back, got rid of the constant ridiculous melodrama for melodrama's-sake and is telling a very human story about family and love persevering.

I know, it's almost surreal at this point. Since we're near the end we know it's for real and won't be ruined by psychos or awful family members or terminal illness. I just hope that they give us an emotional scene when they get married, whether its just them or the whole cast is there as guests, after everything they've (we've) been through we need to see them both feeling that moment and reveling in it.

So I just took a deep dive on Byler Twitter and realized how many people literally devote their whole accounts just to talk sh!t about Kaypeace and her theories along with Byler shippers in general. Honestly, the duffers would not be proud of this. Is this seriously what our show has become? People are BASHING someone just because they have hope in a ship?

They’re calling Bylers deranged, delusional, lost soldiers, “in need of a rude awakening”, and more! Like who hurt you? How upset do you have to be with yourself to say this about someone just for shipping two fictional characters? They seriously can’t stand the fact that someone has hope for something and that there is actually proof tied to it. I’ve seen countless people say that she’s “digging up dust bunnies and pretending it’s gold.” Or that she’s “deranged and needs an awakening.” Which is just horrible! Why would you say that about someone?! Just letting you know that Finn, Millie, AND Noah would 100% find you HORRIBLE for saying things like this. This ISNT the fandom they wanted to raise. The show is not surrounded by byler OR Mileven and either way the show is phenomenal without either and there are so many more components. The duffers would not be proud of this behavior. You gotta admit, there are a lot of byler clues throughout all 3 seasons and calling us deranged for seeing something like that is terrible of you.

Saying that she needs mental help for picking up on hints that 2 people may be in love? Seriously? What is wrong with those people! Why do people have an issue with someone having hope. It’s not like we as Bylers are doing this for Mileven. I haven’t seen a Mileven Hate account in ages. And we personally do not claim those who do that. But I don’t understand why people seriously have an issue with the fact that two people could potentially end up together. How am I deranged for shipping two fake characters? Finn has said countless times to STOP with the ship wars and that he isn’t proud of it. This fandom is so toxic at times and is so horrible. You cannot deny that there are some pretty solids hints of Byler being canon. Kaypeace is not treating herself as If she is some saint. She has never said that all of her theories will be correct. But hell, some of them have been in the past! And with all of this proof, how are we deranged for seeing what’s clearly there? And how are we delusional for having faith in something? People really just wanna ruin our parade and ruin our happiness just because we see potential in 2 characters dating and being end game. This show is NOT a romance and exists without any love in it! So can we all stop acting like the show runs on Mileven or Byler or Jopper or Lumax or Jancy or whatever! We both can acknowledge that both ships have a lot of proof and that is that. Whatever happens, we cannot change. If people seriously get this worked up over the fact that Mike may not be in love with El, that seems like a personal issue. I’m not saying there aren’t toxic Bylers but the Mileven community from what I’ve seen has been HORRIBLE. They gaslight us and completely invalidate how we feel just because it’s “Delusinal” and “isnt canon”. Like?? What???

Also, please stop using the words “delusional” or “deranged” or “mental help” over FICTIONAL CHARACTERS. Implying that someone needs to go to a mental hospital just because they enjoy watching a tv show and analyzing it is HORRIBLE. And also horrible to ppl who actually experience delusions as well. It is not a mental illness to ship Mileven or Byler and none of what either are seeing are “delusions” or “hallucinations”. Google what Delusions means first before being an a$$ about it. The hate in this fandom is SO TOXIC. And if the duffers saw this behavior they would be mortified. The duffers would not invalidate either ship in any interview so can we all just stop. It’s THEIR show and at the end of the day they’ll do whatever they want to it. If that means that your ship isn’t canon, then so be it. But saying that “Milevens are always gonna win” and that “Mileven is end game” and then claiming Bylers are delusinal for shipping 2 fictional characters,,,,,, then doesn’t that make Milevens delusinal for shipping 2 fictional characters too?? None of us are delusinal or deranged or anything. We are all human. Let us all have faith.

And also, nothing, and I mean NOTHING is set in stone. Mileven isn’t endgame yet and Byler isn’t end game yet either. For f@!$ sake, Mike could even end up with Max! El could end up with Lucas! We literally never know! So, stop treating like we know the end of the show. We have proof and we analyze it. Why would the duffers be giving us this much proof if it wasn’t to analyze. If Milevens are allowed to theorize then so are Bylers. Hell, maybe Will AND el die by the end and Mike ends up lonely with 3 cats.

This is STRANGER THINGS. The show is all about subverting tropes. So just take all of your expectations and throw them out the window. Because 99% of the time, we are completely blown out of our minds. If there was any show that was gonna leave us in total shock when the season finale airs, it’s stranger things. The duffers know how to write. And they know exactly what they are doing. If Mileven does end up together, so be it. But if Byler is end game, don’t cry about It. Anyone remember how off our theories were for season 3? Or how off our theories were for season 4 compared to now? People were convinced S4 was taking place during thanksgiving break, that Steve was joining the Force, that Robin was getting a girlfriend (I hope!), etc. Everything in this show happens for a reason, the duffers said so themselves. And this show is an ENSEMBLE SHOW. No character is the main character. This isn’t a rom com and the show could very well end up with everyone dead besides Keith! We literally don’t know. So can we stop calling ppl delusional or insane for shipping 2 fake people. We’re allowed to theorize. And just bc it isn’t your opinion doesn’t mean it isn’t valid.

so I saw some posts in the bellarke tag (from a few bellarke) saying how season 6 bellarke was terrible and that Bellamy was out of character and would never do the things he did for Clarke that season.. and that he was bland, and the cpr scene could’ve been any sappy couple, but like ?? I loved season 6, and I thought Bellamy was in character (as opposed to season 5 where they barely interacted and had any big emotional talks after 6 years of thinking she’s dead and ugh s5 to me felt the least like them) i mean to me him doing anything for her seems like something Bellamy would do? Look at the all past seasons and all the sacrifices and thing he did for her and how protective he was over her for any little thing! I feel like Bellamy leaving everyone to save clarke would be something that would happen? And him basically in tears trying to save her as she’s dying in front of him pleading that he needs her seems in character and something they would do and it felt special and sweet to me :/ how was Bellamy bland for doing the most he can to save someone he loves?? Idk, s6 was one of my favorites for how actually romantic it was and it bums me out hearing some bellarkes hating it. How do you feel about it? Do most of the fandom think it’s ooc and Bellamy’s bland?

I think the most important fact to begin with here would be that you gotta understand something that was also a little hard for me to understand at first but that I learned fast when I got into the fandom and that is that-

Nobody judges Bellamy Blake more than his own fandom.

Literally.

I’m even gonna be as brave as to say that the pinapples might not even know what to put on his shoulders besides season 3 to blame him for every mistake but we can. We absolutely can say the worst things about him and call him anything.

You know back when I got in the fandom that was season 3 and that was the WORST time to join but haha, silly cute lil me, I knew of so many blogs and Bellamy and Bellarke fans who HATED Bellamy and refused to understand his actions which yes though questionable, were at least supposed to be put under the microscope and understood.

I knew people who hated season 2 Bellamy too which was such a surprise to me, those were mostly original season 1 fans who said that he was *too  herioc* in season 2 and it *doesn’t fit his character*.

So after that, like season 3 and everything (and after Bob explained how much was missed on and not told and the better part of the season which made some fans show some mercy towards his character), I decided myself that I’ll always step back, think over everything that happens to him with as clear of a head as I can and decide for myself. 

I kept doing it to the end which is also why I am the only one in the fandom who didn’t call him ooc in s7. But THAT is another subject.

I think what I mean here is that nobody and I believe that wholeheartedly is more rude or more brutal to Bellamy Blake than we are. I often felt like we as a fandom hated him more than any anti can and it broke my heart. Most of all what broke my heart was the blatant refusal to understand him or his actions.

I think after season 1 people just had this image of the bad boy rebel king with soft heart who lets Clarke and the 100 in and that was it and that still sells most to these days in fics and amongst the fandom. 

That’s literally where they stopped and they refused to add anything else to his multilayered character in their heads.

ANYWAY-

You asked about season 6 and I LOVE season 6 despite most bellarkers not being fans of it. I think here it comes again a lot to fandom and how the said old gen bellarkers refused to like season 6 bellarke because apparently it wasn’t written as well, the dialogue was bad, they kept recycling stuff, I’ve seen this over and over and over again but for me, personally season 6 was a whole ass trip from beginning to end that is just that-

a love story.

His love story to Clarke.

I think through it he manages to achieve in his heart what he never got to do for her in season 4 and season 5. I have had a few friends at the time who thankfully felt the same way and we discussed the fact that-

season six is filled with all the romantic tropes that we as bellarke writers (and old gen bellarke) KEEP WRITING but complain that we never actually had

WHICH WE DO????

but somehow it is not good enough for them. 

So to answer your quesiton, no, not all people in the fandom thought it was bad, but I feel like again as before with just bellamy and season 3 there was this PUSH as if on purpose, to hate this, to condemn it, to call it *not the same*. I understand what they say that yes they are not entirely the same people and here comes my next point-

THEY ARE NOT!

I think a majority of the people refused to accept the fact that they grow as characters and they have layers added to them just as the story grew and went from one planet to another. I think not everyone can accept that and that is fine, I have no problem with that I just wish it wasn’t just so blatantly hated.

I personally think that the CPR scene is where they PEAKED in all aspects. THIS is the most they’ve been truly romantic I believe that and that it is actually expressed in the DESPERATION with which he saves her and her waking up and throwing herself in his arms. Also let’s not forget his lips touching hers which for us is like basically sex.

And after that scene came out I saw a lot of hate and I was so surprised, mainly on twitter from old bellarkers, fic writers who said LOL what a dumb scene, haha he can’t do CPR right and i was like WHAT-

You were okay when she peckered his cheek for 0,02 secs and left him all the fuck alone in season 2 to deal with EVERYTHING and the kids but this is-

HIm reccassitating her and begging her and crying and his own effing sister seeing his break down and then managing to get to her, to make her to pull through and her coming back and throwing herself in his arms IS BAD?

I mean I literally died there and it is still my favorite moment.

I know nobody would agree with this but I still think this is the best one. The hugs were great but at some point how many hugs can you have?

This was more. This was so much more and I loved it.

I think also there is something else when people call some scenes blind and that is that Bob was in a lot of pain filming that because of his injury. He literally couldn’t walk and had to redo some scenes from the beginning of the season back in the end when he was a little bit better so it is clear that it is very hard for him to do this but he still does his best imo and by the time the CPR scene comes he clearly is much better and it shows in his acting too (which is also why i personally love his acting in s7 it shows so much how when an actor takes care of themselves, takes a step back, recovers and comes back he literally crushes it but AGAIN i am a lone wolf in that aspect)

Anyway, here is my advice:

1.Stay out of the tags;

2. Find people who you enjoy seeing on your dash to follow and who do fit your interests in terms of the show.

3.Don’t read ppl’s opinions, frankly, don’t listen to anyone, not even me in that ask if it doesn’t sit right with you. Instead find your own thoughts and emotions. 

When I first got in the fandom there was so much meta and meta blogs and you dk the hate I saw in our fandom when it came to bellamy or the wrong discorse about his actions so I just unfollowed them all and did my own thinking. 

That’s what i advise you to do!

Thoughts on this episode: It was good you can see there is more confidence in the writing in this episode. I am sensing a few concerns I have but I'm gonna see how this mid season finale is and then talk about that in my mid-season round up. One of my larger issues is that i don't like this subtle implication thats being sewed into this narrative. There is this message that all queer people do is lie, cheat, and betray one another etc. While that does happen sometimes its not the only thing that does occur. Even though I appreciate not treating queer characters as "smol beans" and being problematic at times i don't appreciate that all of our queer characters are in that same boat. All of these scenarios do have some realism though and GSA has some of the most drama you can find. But it feels a bit like look all these lgbtq ppl are messy and cheat even the older teacher.

I promise I’m not an angst-centric person but like. Maybe someone— an enemy kingdom, maybe— catches onto the fact that Quackity is close to Techno, after they become friends, and they see an Opportunity. Because getting to Techno himself is tough bc he has so much fighting prowess and has so many eyes on him, being the eldest child of the Antarctic Empire. But Quackity? Someone who has no position of power and clearly has no experience in combat? He’s easy to get ahold of.

It could go in a lot of ways— maybe they’re trying to get information from Quackity himself, even tho it’s not like Big Q has any insider info, you know?? And that could be more light-hearted probably bc they’re just like ‘we just kidnapped a total dumbass’ and they don’t see a reason 2 keep him around or they let their guard down and Quackity is like ‘guess who just used their amazing powers of persuasion to escape a kidnapping’ and Techno is just. ‘What Are You Talking About.’ He’s so tired skdjdk

It could also be a threat kind of situation, though, because Quackity could defo be used as a weak point! And Techno isn’t going to act impulsively no matter what, bc he’s strategic and good at keeping a level-head, but the fact that these people stoop so low to bring someone of the commonwealth into political affairs like that makes him FURIOUS. It’s a strategy, yes, but morally it’s abt as wrong as one could get

If we’re feeling v self-indulgent (and when are we not) feral fighting Quackity could definitely be incorporated. Maybe the person assigned to keep an eye on him— just the one, because no one takes Quackity seriously, or thinks he can do anything— insults Techno off-handedly, speaking to someone over a com, calls him incompetent or a weak link for associating w/ someone so likely to get caught in the crossfire of royal business. Something personal that just hits a specific part of Big Q’s brain.

And Quackity has been compliant. He’s nervous beyond belief, sure, but he doesn’t want to get hurt, and Techno probably would just want him to chill out and wait.

But Techno is his FRIEND, and one of the most competent people he knows, and he just goes Feral <3 he’s all nails and teeth and he may not know how to hold a weapon but he doesn’t need one to get this point across. Whether or not he wins doesn’t matter as long as they understand that he is Angry and he sure is good at conveying that!

ANYWAYS. Tender Friendship Reunion is Important of course <3 I don’t take my ideas too seriously so u know it probably involves plenty of dumbassery on both their parts. Quackity thinks it’s very romantic of Techno to bust in and save him (/j) and Techno just wants a nap by the end of it

I just think abt Techno’s constant caution when it comes to getting close to ppl because of how they’re likely to get hurt by/betray him and it’s like. Haha time to capitalize on that :] but not too much bc I love seeing my favs chill out. Cottagecore Techno is now the only thing I will think abt

Thank you very much, about everything! It makes me happy that people read that stuff! I tend to write a lot because I just have too much on my mind. xD Now, as for a favorite riddle? I sweeear I’ve thought of one before. But right now? Nothing is particularly coming to mind. But ironically, despite writing as Eddie, I... am terrible with riddles! As for thinking of puzzles - it... just depends. Some do just pop in his mind from sudden inspiration. But many are usually well-thought-out. He tends to search for things for inspiration; many of his puzzles involves cultures from all around the world. Typically, he goes for symbolism in his puzzles. Something symbolic like let’s saaay... he sets a puzzle up in a slaughterhouse, because he’s the slaughterer and vigilantes like Batman should be slaughtered like pigs.

As for universe? Nooot that I can think of? My own Ed is an original interpretation - which means I don’t really write him as his Animated Series depiction, or his Nu52 or anything like that. He’s just another Riddler. haha! Though, I do tend to take a lot of inspiration for characterization from the Arkham verse, and the Animated Series. Since those two are my favorite Canon Eddies. The only thing I wish I could RP is uhh... I feel there are still a lot of DC characters I haven’t quite gotten the chance to write with. (Haven’t really written with a Batman, yet! Even though I’ve been writing Ed for nearly a year now, and that dynamic is pretty important!) And I definitely wouldn’t mind writing with more Marvel characters, since I enjoy Marvel a lot. (More than DC, if not for Batman.) And it could work! I wouldn’t even have to make up a Marvel AU or anything. ‘cos there used to be Marvel and DC crossovers back in the 90s! So, I like to think they can exist in the same universe.

And honestly, his relationships with the rogues tend to vary depending on whom I’m RPing with! Just ‘cos, many ppl tend to write the characters differently than others do. Therefore, Ed can be friendly with some, but hate others. Though, in general - I like to think my Ed is friendly with many of the rogues, and even sees them as “friends” in a fucked up way. (Since he IS willing to manipulate them if it means furthering his own goals.) And even if he doesn’t always see eye to eye with them, either. He still views them as friends. Buuuut... not all of them. There are some rogues my Ed will often dislike, those being: Black Mask, Falcone, Zsasz, Hugo, Joker, Bookworm, King Tut. Black Mask & others like him just because Ed has a... distaste for mob bosses. Like ones that are legit mob bosses. Because mobs, in Eddie’s opinion, might as well just be more corrupt billionaires. They kill innocents for profits, and some mafias even deal with trafficking. So... Yeah. They’re icky to Eddie, and doesn’t align with his own set of morals. Ed doesn’t like Zsasz or Joker because he feels they both just kill kill kill for no good reason. And killing just innocents at that. Eddie, really does, enjoy killing, too. But he only targets specific people who he believes should die. Eddie doesn’t like King Tut because he feels they’re plagiarizing his style. Eddie HATES copycats.

I honestly really enjoyed Ed’s friendship with the Sirens in the comics. Therefore, I do love writing them as friends, or at least friendly toward each other. But as said, this could always change depending on whom I’m writing with. And I really miss Ed & Harley’s relationship in the comics. It had a lot of potential. But alas, now for some reason they always got to be at each other's throats. It sucks. In my own canon, which I have a fancomic in mind that I’ll probs never do but - Harley actually helps teach a reformed Eddie how to fight.

AS FOR THE GARDENER. Not gonna lie, I don’t really know much about her character. I don’t really know much regarding any of the new characters, that includes Miracle Molly. Or much of what’s even going on in the comics currently other than what I hear on my dashboard. I just kinda gave up on reading most of the newer comics, especially since the Nu52. Just because all comics I’ve read that involved Eddie in those... I didn’t enjoy. The ones I haven’t read but heard too much about (like the War of Jokes and Riddles) are REALLY BAD. I feel like they’ve really butchered his character now. The only comics I have enjoyed since Nu52 is Zero Year (and even that has its flaws) and Solitaire. (And ironically, that’s actually one of my, if not my favorite Riddler comic.) There’s one from Black & White I thought was okay and enjoyable enough. Still had the issue of Eddie potentially harming children. But at least it’s kind of played off as a joke in it (because they were orphans. The joke was if something happened to them, then Batman will have no more resources for Robin. Kind of dark humor there, but it did make me laugh. xD). But that’s really all I’ve enjoyed. So... I just don’t really bother with the new comics anymore because I got tired of ‘em, and how they do portray Riddler (and really, other characters) in them.

hyuck literally plays Overwatch 24/7 until it’s almost 2 or 3 am at night... so why wouldn’t he do the same but with silent assassin on roblox instead??

I can see him just getting upset when he only gets 4th place in the free for all game mode. he’d be like “dammit not again!! ugh this guy just stole all my kills what the heck!?!”

obviously he would get better at the game bc he would play the shit out of it. he would probably play it 24/7 like he does with Overwatch and would hit level 40 in a few days.

I can see jaemin and mark playing story games in their free time, and when one of the younger members join them, they just know it’s gonna be fun when they have no idea what’s going on :D (and when they eat something poisonous)

i would love to learn italian too. i think my problem is that growing up when i was in school, i didn't want to learn a language bc i was afraid of speaking it wrong in front of ppl that could speak it right. also i hated getting graded on whether or not i could understand the language. but now since i'm not in school anymore, maybe learning a language won't be too bad.

i never learned how to play an instrument until i got into my 20s. i self taught myself the ukuele, and i'm not the best but i'm pretty okay at it lol and i always wanted to learn the drums too, but there's just no place to really learn that and drumkits are so fucking expensive. i also wanted to learn to play the harp, but like idk where to even learn that either.

playhouse disney was my shit when i was younger. pb and j otter, rollie-pollie ollie, omg i used to love those shows ! when i got a bit older, i would say one of my favorite shows was probs suite life, hannah montana, or jonas/jonas la. but that's only bc i loved the jonas brothers lmao

yeah target is expensive, but they do have some cute stuff that isn't too bad. and the walmart in my area is fucking crazy too. i legit want to buy stuff from there but... not with all those ppl in it omg. the target near my house isn't too bad for groceries and whatnot, and i don't mind buying some stuff from there bc i know it will actually last decently long. i have a pair of jeans from there from like 3 years ago that are still going strong, which is a first since most jeans rip or get a hole in them.

interestingly enough, ketchup and mustard both kinda gross me out on their own, unless they are with specific stuff. ketchup is good with really terrible fries, and (spicy) mustard is good on hot dogs. and then both are good on burgers. regular mustard... that's gross to me and i'm not sure why.

i don't like salt and vinegar chips. i think the last time i tried them was when i was in elementary school, and they were so bitter to me. vinegar kinda makes me feel ill when i smell it, idk why. but maybe now since my smelling and tasting senses are all fucked up, maybe i should try them again.

i don't know how to drive actually, but i do plan to learn at some point in the near-ish future. my problem honestly is that i just have kinda bad anxiety and to top it off, i don't have enough money to afford a car or insurance so... yeah. but if i could drive, i would want a jeep. that's the dream car. the car my mom has is really nice, so i would drive that if i knew how to.

You Asked, I Told (Part 2 of 2)

Spoilers ahoy! See Part One for more, plus an update. 

I imagine Steve staying in Winnie’s orbit for a little while before drawing away. The guilt would have been immense, even if she still accepted him as a surrogate son after the breakup. Also, Steve’s move into the military was a kind of amputation of his old life, including Winnie. Winnie was undoubtedly hurt by his distance. But for all of her flaws, also has a strong forgiveness reflex, as we can see with her relationship with Bucky. I think Steve’s own unresolved mother issues also complicated his relationship with her. With Sarah dead and his grief unprocessed, he probably figured it was easier to leave them both behind in the city and try to move forward.

Gah, I’m so sorry I didn’t include that. I put it in shortly after I received this message but forgot to answer the Ask also. MST stands for Military Sexual Trauma. It’s something that the VA regularly screens for and provides special services for. As people have probably heard, it’s a very common occurrence, affecting more women than men per capita but actually happening to more men by sheer volume. So, in other words, the percentages of MST in female service members is significantly higher than in men, but because there are fewer women relative to men in the military, the men’s smaller (and very, very likely under-reported) percentage ends up equaling more men who’ve experienced MST than women. It includes rape, sexual assault, as well as sexual harassment and coercion.

I’m an ass and didn’t track what chapter this was after (as well as being bad at answering Asks in a timely manner), so I cannot respond as specifically as I would like. But they really are making some significant progress. Even when shitty things are happening, you’ll probably notice that they are talking a lot more, sharing a lot more, coming back together after their rows more quickly. I’m very proud of them on a regular basis!

I think Tony is an extremely difficult character to write, you’re so correct. Alas, he’s only alluded to in BW. But I am going to attempt to write him in my next fic. It’s a daunting task, indeed, and definitely not a reflection of whether I like him or not. I think Tony is just fine. It’s just very hard not to write him as a one-dimensional quip machine.

This is an interesting question and a good observation. I think it’s a little of column A and a little of column B. I do like playing with identity, how we are different things to different people. Growing up, Bucky was James to George and Jamie to his other family and Bucky to his high school friends and Steve. I think Bucky is an aspirational name for him, in a way. This Bucky character he created in high school was his best version of himself, as far as he’s concerned. 

And importantly, as you mentioned, it’s what Steve learned to call him, and Steve is also an aspirational object for Bucky. Jamie is pretty loaded, Jamie the soft boy, Jamie who gets hurt, etc. I imagine as he got older, part of him recognized that this isn’t Bucky thing is kind of a farce and probably started referring to himself publicly as Jamie eventually. Thus, it’s also become a very intimate name, because only Steve thinks of him that way, and perhaps he wants to be that person Steve imagines he is. Hence the self-reference. It’s not the tightest argument. I honestly initially started with a name more familiar to readers, and it just stuck.

OMG FIVE LOVE LANGUAGES. Okay. Okay. For those not familiar with the Five Love Languages, here’s a summary of them.  (And you can even take a quiz for yourself here!) I’ve put some thought into this, and so has my beta, and our first response was that they may both be touch. This could be plausible, and it only doesn’t work so well sometimes because of the additional trauma- and defense-informed barriers that Bucky has. Bucky also has lots of ideas about gay love and affection that aren’t very compatible with this, either. 

So that kind of makes me wonder if he wants touch so badly because he doesn’t allow it for himself and he’s just a human with basic human touch needs. I also think Bucky appreciates quality time as well, though he’s not great at asking for it. I think the touch thing works for Steve because even if he was in another relationship with someone else, he’d still crave touch a lot. This is a harder exercise when dealing with such massive amounts of trauma, to be sure.

Does anyone else have thoughts? I’m not married to this at all. I think a number of different arguments could be made.

I’m hanging in there! I just recently moved from one state that was terrible about COVID-19 public health stuff to another state that’s hardcore about it, so that’s been a change. Moving is rough, and I moved alone with not really anyone I know super well in the area. How do meet new ppl now?? But it’s a very good thing, and I’m excited for the time when I can make some new friends in 3D, lol. Thank you for asking!

I don’t think you’re missing a whole lot, honestly. I think part of it is that up until very recently, Steve couldn’t even begin to comprehend the trauma Bucky has experienced. Like obviously he knew something was there, but the nature of it was still a mystery to him. I think it’s hard to remember sometimes that we know a lot more about Bucky in any given moment than Steve does. So we see all this stuff piled up and are like STEVE WHAT THE FUCK. But Steve doesn’t know all that and has been learning in these really brutal and incomplete chunks. 

And even when Steve first found out about the sexual abuse, the implications have been slow to settle on him. I’ve been trying to write this Steve as a realistic person who can both understand things but also is trying to get his own needs met when he’s vulnerable. He also suspects it’s really bad and doesn’t want it to be, feeding a little of his own denial and defenses. For as complicated as Bucky obviously is, I think Steve is pretty complicated, too. He doesn’t think of himself this way, however, to some detriment. He wants to understand Bucky and he doesn’t want to know, because the truth is horrifying to him. I think these things compete in him and don’t always lead him to have the best behavior.

I'm likely the most anxious person alive. My anxiety is just terrible. I'm never not worrying and panicking and feeling so paranoid about things in my life. Except now it's reached a whole new level where I'm constantly plagued with anxious thoughts in this fandom. It's kind of fully taken over my life where my first thought when I wake up is about them, to the hours I'm lying awake (oh it's fun being an insomniac) waiting for sleep to finally grant me some serenity. It doesn't matter how many

, Atimes I tell myself I have no control over anything and I'm only ever seeing a tiny bit of the whole story so it's pointless. I try so hard to choose to not worry and not go insane thinking about everything but alas, anxiety is not a choice. This has manifested itself in a multitude of ways. Lyric analysis used to be something I savoured doing bc I have always connected so deeply with words and literature and I'm always someone who wants to dig deep beneath the surface, to see the parts of ppl

& lyrics that others gloss over, just delving into the core of things, seeing ppl for who they truly are. But now, I feel like I am losing it, that it's all become like this weird obsession. We all know BNFs are like DO NOT CHERRY PICK LYRICS and basically IGNORE THAT WEIRD GUT FEELING ABOUT ANY LYRICS THAT MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE SOMETHING'S NQR and they can sue me but I don't work like that. I've been obsessing over certain lyrics that I can't decipher or find an alternate meaning to the literal

one & obviously if it were to be taken literally it would be bad. And I just get so mad at myself for not understanding when words have always been my thing right? Hey anon <3! First of all, my inbox is always open, so jot that one right down. Second of all, I’m gonna say something that might sound out of line, but I think I have to say it: this sounds like your mental health might not be in a great place right now. And I don’t mean your “in fandom mental health”, I mean it sounds like your anxiety is giving you a really hard time overall, which, believe me, I know how much that sucks.  Life is a lot right now. But what I am hearing you say is that this fandom has become a really tangible manifestation of those anxieties. Let me know if I’m way off base here, okay? But I’m going to ask some questions (that you totally don’t have to reply to me - you can absolutely just take inventory on your own if that’s how you feel most comfortable.

Are you safe? If you’re not safe, is there someone you can call? If not, here is the International Association for Suicide Prevention so that you can find resources in your area. If you are at all contemplating this, please stop reading right here and give them a call. 

If you are safe, do you have someone you can talk to about how you feel? This can be someone that knows who you are in the fandom and can talk to you with immediate replies, or someone outside of fandom, like an irl friend or family member. 

This question is primarily to do with a non-professional support system: do you have one you feel you can trust? If not, what are the things you could do to work towards that? 

This question is about professional support: it sounds to me like you’re saying that your anxiety is really impairing your day to day functions. If this is the case, do you have a professional you can talk with about potential coping skills? It sounds like fandom used to be one, but as the environment here changed, so did your relationship with it, and so maybe reaching out to someone that can point you in other directions for coping skills is a good thing. Because I don't know where you live, my best advice would be to call your physician and explain the symptoms you’ve been having and ask if they have a list of therapists that you could see for little to no charge. If you don’t have a physician (and I often don’t) then google is your best friend here. There are some resources available, but none of them take the place of seeing a doctor. In the US, if you don’t have insurance, you can go to a local community clinic and ask to be put on a waiting list for a therapist, if you’d like. 

I know that you’re saying that your anxiety is making it really difficult to disengage with BNFs and the discourse and all, but do you think that we could take it one step at a time? Like, for example, the lyric thing seems to really trigger your anxiety, so could you unfollow one blog (just one!) that makes you feel like that, and then see if you like your dash a bit better? It is TOTALLY okay to unfollow someone for your own mental health, and it isn’t a negative reflection on either of you! 

Do you think that engaging with other media would help at all? For example, Supernatural has 15 whole seasons of absolute campy goodness which I really, really unironically adore. When this fandom gets too much, I turn on an episode and get lost in it for a hot second. Another thing I really enjoy is Good Omens! The book is AMAZING, and the TV show is HILARIOUS! And while we’re on recs, I SUPER SUPER recommend anything by Neil Gaiman, but “Stardust” in particular is a great, soothing read for me, and I LOVE the audiobook! Ah! Hot Tip! I pay for audible, and it is one of the BEST things for my anxiety, especially when I pick the right books. The voices are soothing, the stories are great, and I can just...tune everything else out. 

If other media doesn’t help, would other hobbies? Would you be willing to go on a walk once a day to look for pretty stones or to ride your bike out with a book and stay for a minute or to start drawing at home or to write? Is there a way that you think you could healthily express these emotions which are a really normal response to an abnormal situation (the world is kinda a mess rn) 

It sounds like you are feeling really badly that you don’t think you can get a grasp on the songs. Is there something you can do to rebuild your confidence here? Can you talk about it with a fandom friend, or write down all your theories and see which one sticks or start a brand new analysis with something that has nothing to do w H or L and then come back to the drawing board? 

These are just questions that I would ask a friend that came to me with these issues, but honestly, I cannot stress #4 enough - if your anxiety is overwhelming (and it sounds like it is) then speaking to a professional is *so so so* important. I think it’s time to go take care of yourself, anon, and the boys will be here when you’re ready to interact with their content again. They’ll wait, you know? Okay, so I’ve been on tumblr since before the first time they very slightly changed the shade of blue and I hope that in and of itself is enough to help y’all know... I’m ancient. (I’m 27, and will only rp with ppl 18+, sorry friendos)

Somehow, despite being on tumblr and despite having made about a million accounts for various things in my day, I’ve not made an RP account, and don’t really know how to get started. I guess I’m just gonna put down what I know about myself and what I’m looking for here and hope for the best, but I’d be open to any kind of protips from those of you who have been using tumblr to find rp for much longer.

I'm open to co-creating settings inspired but not based in fandoms, and open to playing AU or canon settings as well. When originals are involved, I prefer co-creating our worlds together, so we're both invested in the landscape that our characters inhabit. Speaking of characters- I'll play as any gender and in any pairing type- I hope that this is the same for you. I love writing a broad spectrum of characters to keep things interesting for myself and to practice viewing the world through different perspectives. I feel it's difficult to do this when being forced or pigeonholed into writing as a gender you DEMAND of me. However... I can be flexible, and if your ideas are interesting enough, I may just give you what you ask for anyways, haha. I'm perfectly open to playing multiple characters, whether it's a broad interactive cast of mains and background characters, a system of noninteracting or separate sets of doubles, triples, you name it, or whatever other configuration of multiple-character-playing you prefer.

I'm not too terribly concerned about post lengths and am open to writing with people who might be new to the RP scene. I'm pretty flexible about how much I'll write. A good rule of thumb for myself is that I tend to respond with more when I have more to work with. That doesn't always mean that there are more words on your post for me to respond to; instead, I mean that if your post has enough ideas, inspiration, and momentum, I can go buckwild with my posts. My comfort zone seems to be around 4-6 paragraphs per post, but I've been known to write either a lot more in particularly thrilling rps. If I'm writing a huge post- don't feel daunted or expected to match length. I love all sized posts!!! I'm just overly enthusiastic and get carried away sometimes. (This means you can also at any time tell me to chill out on how much I'm writing. ) When it comes to writing style, I only have a few hard expectations of you- I do not engage in roleplay featuring the 'would' style of writing. (For example: "She would pick up the rock and inspect it closely.") I don't exactly know why I dislike this tense so much, but it pulls me right out of the immersion of writing/reading and tends to entirely destroy my interest in the story. I'm sorry. Next, I care at least a little about punctuation and spellchecking. If you're roleplaying online, you have access to ways to make sure that you're not just submitting gibberish. If you need help finding those resources... feel free to ask!

I'm open to the idea of making profiles for our characters, but I'm okay without making them too. I'm also vaguely ambivalent to 'beautifying' our posts, should we do them somewhere that allows that sort of thing. I'm fine with any style of reference images, or with not using them at all. I can't promise I won't send you songs and images and memes that remind me of our story, though! Also- I'm super down for dice systems if we decide to go that route (and prefer dice systems if we include combat of any variety in our story.) I love romance, but it doesn't necessarily have to be the drive of our plot if that's not your style. My favorite genres to write in are science fiction, any variety of fantasy, horror, drama, historical settings, wild western settings, and mysteries.

Last but not least, I tend to like making friends with my writing partners. I prefer writing with people I actually get along with, so for me, the plotting phase is the most important. It helps me get to know your personality a bit more, and you mine, so we both know whether or not it's a good match to write long term! I'll write on most platforms, so let's discuss what makes the most sense for us. Finally, I generally only write with folks 18+, for the safety of everyone involved. Thanks for understanding.

had some bmc thoughts stemming from like 2 weeks ago that i’ve been in a cycle of putting off / forgetting to write.....in part b/c there’s no Thesis here as usual, just some vague observations and a like “oh hmm” realization thanks to stephen brackett’s htbmc episode which i’ve just noticed i Listened Too on dec 12th so i guess this is stemming from closer to 2 months ago than 2 weeks. anyways though

listening to that he was talking about mitb and it’s like mmhm right right but then he talked specifically about it as like an Identity Crisis in a way that i hadn’t really fully considered before like.....that without jeremy as that other half it’s like, all the stuff about how other people see him might be Right, [that post like (looks up what a pt cruiser looks like) “god maybe he IS a loser” lol] which yknow i’d kind of just attributed to the way he already felt but obviously intensified like, that now without Anyone as a friend it just sucks that nobody likes him instead of the “well we’re the only ones who like us but that’s fine” thing......but yeah with what steve was saying about it i was like oh so like, kind of taking that “ppl think i’m a loser but i will own it” thing but like, not only now interpreting Being Called A Loser in the way that jeremy did thanks to jeremy saying it, but being like “wow maybe i Am a loser(tm) and also the way that everyone maybe thinks of me is correct idk” b/c like, so much of his identity being tied up in being this one guy’s longtime bff and in all this Tumult it’s like well not only am i sad but what does this Mean, am i Really that........and you know, how, presumably, hearing it from jeremy is like, oh hmm shit let me consider this Afresh and like, giving some emotional weight to that. im not writing this great lol but anyways 

second thing was just something i always think of With Interest and which is related to michael also which is that like, i go and think “wow haha it’s pretty cool that the difficulties (& more specifically the Communication Problems) in jeremy and michael’s relationship don’t stem from some inability to express affection or anything” like, thinking of that bit in 2pg, but then from there i was like well hang on it’s Also interesting that in that bit in 2pg and like, seemingly overall, jeremy is the one who’s better at being like, Direct About His Feelings verbally lol? i mean, you have michael with the pointed redirection of “will you be too cool for - Video Games” & kind of going back into (Pretending He’s) Focusing On That mode, and then you have jeremy just cutting through that by taking michael’s controller and then just talking about You Are My Favorite Person which like, of course also says that he knows michael’s not talking about video games and doesn’t feel obligated to roll with that......and then even really the fact that michael reacts to that Fave Pers thing with gettin silly all of 5 seconds into it is like, easily interpreted as being a little like “let me avoid the most earnest and direct Emotional Expression here lol”......but yknow i don’t think this is really a Problem, yeah jeremy feeling kinda unheard (or unproperly-listened-to) by michael Is that big communication issue there, but jeremy sure seems to just Get the way that michael is here, and has no difficulty with it or with understanding what michael Means even if he’s not quite saying things as Directly as jeremy is here, or being like “lmao >:333″ in response to jeremy’s “I Care You”.......

and i also kinda always link it up with my being like “nice emotional sidestep” @ the vimh scene where jeremy asks Why michael still came back to help him and like, sure yeah they kinda have a discussion but michael then just leaves it up to Jeremy’s Dad to be like “well son michael and i sang a song about loving you” which like, isn’t what gets said lol........i really like the pants song scene for so many reasons including that like, it’s not seen as some deep horrible failure of character (like the character of a person, not as in “fictional character”) that michael is mad at jeremy and behaving spitefully towards him by sort of giving up on him when he knows he’s probably in a bad situation Overall.......like i mean we all understand Why he’s having this reaction, but then people who Are wanting it to be Perfect and Fully Justified then just put that on jeremy being terrible and he absolutely deserved to be abandoned like that, instead of maybe being like, it is okay for michael to not make perfect decisions throughout this because he is a person and he is also a person in high school and like. yeah you need this Adult who like, really the fact that Jeremy’s Dad’s reaction to jeremy lashing out at him is to be like “oh i need to Do More to help him” speaks of this genuine maturity there, and michael does not have that because i guess everyone is like 16 or something, but it’s not any kind of Weakness or Failing that a more mature grown person needed to step in to be like “yeah you’re mad at him but we gotta look at the bigger picture here and that you do still actually care about this person and don’t Really want to get passive revenge here” etc, it’s just natural that the younger person here could benefit from the guidance of someone with more Life Experience and maturity here, did i mention “maturity,” how many times can i say it Challenge. and then also then that reminds me the [jeremy’s dad interrupting with Do You Love Him bit] lol which like, well that’s not particularly michael being maybe not as great at jeremy as (more) direct Emotional Statements thanks to it being more like, this is a bit out of nowhere and in 2pg it sure doesn’t seem like michael and mr. heere often have heart-to-hearts lol. where was i going with this. i guess it’s that i think it’s increshesting how michael is the sorta more Confidant(tm) person here but jeremy is the one more comfortable being emotionally vulnerable or something

figure out my gender??????????????? probably switch to like they/she pronouns or something bc i realized that every time i post something on twitter/snapchat/tumblr/whatever i always refer to myself as a “a foolish child who makes bad financial decisions” or “a person who makes their wallet cry” or like “guess who just spent like $40 on a steam sale???? this kidddddddddd” like ive always just been unconsciously referring to myself in like third person or they/them/gender neutral pronouns?????? like. i dont think that in any tweet/toot/snap ive ever written i’ve called myself something like “a foolish girl” or “a girl who makes her wallet cry” or anything so like theres that. and honestly ive made/been making some posts about this gender thing for like the past year. ive asked the cool mods at feminism and media about it (ill post the screenshot later). ive changed my main tumblr about page which i dont think anyone’s ever visited since it’s listed under “hi” and like maybe i should change it to “about”? anyways ive like changed most of my stuff online to be something like “gender questioning, but she/her pronouns are fine for now” or like “gender questioning/probably nonbinary” and then just straight up changed my facebook pronouns to they/them (but im p sure my family hasnt noticed thank goodness cuz thats not a can of worms i wanna explain to a bunch of religious baby boomers rn), changed my myanimelist gender to non-bianary (again why is this a thing? a rando blue anime hellsite is not the place i expected to have this option but like im not complaining so lol), and also put “gender questioning, probably non-binary” in the write in gender option on goodreads so like. uhhh. i guess im probably non-binary????? but also im a terrible and indecisive person so like every time i say im probably non-binary my stupid brain goes back to bein like. wait is this some internalized misogyny that makes me not want to be a girl/cis girl? but also i find the dysphoria memes/jokes on the egg_irl subreddit really relatable and its just a bad cycle in which i go “oh these gender dysphoria memes on a trans subreddit are really relatable” -> “huh maybe. im not a girl???” -> brain awakened to being not a girl -> self doubt of brain might have internalized misogyny -> haha im a cis girl even tho i always refer to myself with they/them pronouns in writing -> haha wait that doesnt sound right a cis person wouldnt refer to themself with gender neutral pronouns right -> i know, ill go to a sub that i know makes gender dysphoria jokes and caused this self doubt/gender questioning in the first place with dumb jokes like “would you push a button?” and this meme but replace the “im bi” with “im ace” -> haha these gender dysphoria jokes are really relatable -> oh no (repeat this hell cycle of self doubt for 2 years and its me haha) 

regarding the above example sentences of steam sales and my finances, uhhhh, i wanna play more video games this year. and actually finish them. because i think according to steamdb or whatever account rating site it is, my account’s games net worth is something ridiculous like $600. and like. ive only played like 30% of the stuff i own. so uh. i should get my moneys worth and play stuff

the above resolution also may have some exceptions due to technical issues or time since some games, mostly japanese visual novels like steins;gate, are not compatible with macbooks i guess maybe they’re not popular with gamers (not surprising the macbooks has terrible venting lol) and also maybe not popular in japan so japanese companies just dont think to port things to mac os??? idk what the issue is here exactly but like since im in a college dorm and not at home ill only have access to my macbook for a majority of the time.

also similar to the “finish the games” thing, i should read, or at least attempt to read, all the books i’ve brought. i have so so many ebooks. that are unread. yet i also keep buying more books. i should stop buying books and finish the ones i do have and also use the library more.

also i should probably figure out how to save money lol. im 22. but im constantly broke. 

also i should uhhh probably find more diverse books lol. like i love my shitty indie fantasy books and stuff but the protag is usu a white dude so like eh. but also. sometimes when i read books w female protags im like haha cant relate. and then the gender questioning sets in once again. is it because im probably non-binary? or am i actually trans or something???????? i mean i hang out on egg_irl, a mostly mtf trans sub, but also an occasional non-binary or ftm trans post comes up which is also nice to see. idk mannnnnnn lollll

also there was this whole like haha cant relate brain reaction to my school’s vagina monologues event when i went in to listen to my nursing major friend have some monologue. like she talked about some thing about like delivering a baby and it was kinda near the end of the event bc i got there late and the ones that i did hear at the end were just like haha cant relate but also ive been told that the monologues that year were particularly terf-y, probs in response to my college turning co-ed (it was up until i think 2 years before i entered a womens college and the older students, alumni and current students that were there at the time, were apparently super pissed about it, so the school i guess doubled down on “(cis) girl power!” but also kinda excluded trans/gender queer ppl that weren’t cis girls in the process)

gender is stupid i feel like id much rather not have to deal with it/pick a label to be and move on with life lol but my brain wont let me

push this internal gender crisis out of my mind by playing a ton of video games/reading a ton of books/do school work ig hahahahahaha
