Lies | New Scars | Breathing through the Pain
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4
Harrison let out a quiet groan, dizziness and nausea rising. He still wasn't convinced Steve was actually real, but it was better than the alternative.
“I know.” Steve soothed. “I’m sorry. We’re going to get you home now.”
They got out as quickly as they could, and Fred left Steve with Harrison in the back of their van whilst he went back in. None of these fuckers were getting away with it if he could help it.
There wasn’t much Steve could do in the van, with only basic supplies and a very unwell Harrison. He did his best, at least now he could see what he was doing, and wasn’t worried about getting shot whilst he did it. The gunshot wound was deep, and the shoulder was concerning. He didn’t want to do too much away from home, and so he carried on stabilising whilst they drove. He’d do the hard work in the safety and relative comfort of the basement. At least then he’d have all his supplies, x-ray and everything else, to make sure things were done properly.
The basement was quiet when they arrived, getting Harrison settled in their little resus bay. Steve knew why Fao was away, but he really could have used the extra pair of hands, he had to admit.
Harrison had spent the journey drifting in and out of consciousness, each pothole jarring his shoulder and taking his breath away. The basement was warm, though, such a welcome relief from the chill of the cell. As Steve set him on the bed, his stomach twisted again, and he realised all too late he was going to throw up.
He had nothing but water to bring up, though the retching had him almost blacking out. He couldn’t remember how long he'd been stuck with Henri, but he knew the other man's fun wasn't all to blame. With a pathetic whine, he tried to curl in on himself, confused and sore.
“It’s alright, Harrison. You’re home now, you’re safe.” Steve said, rubbing his back gently. “I’m gonna take care of you.” He soothed him as he retched, a bowl stuck under his chin.
His body trembled with exhaustion and shivered with the cold. Each breath was laced with a whine, no longer silent and stoic. Steve wouldn't hurt him.
He turned away for a moment, to discard the bowl and grab what he needed. “I’m going to get a cannula in, alright? Get you some painkillers, some fluids to make you feel better.” He said, unsure if Harrison could actually hear him. He took his good arm, quickly found a vein, and didn’t waste any time with the cannula. “Sharp scratch.” He warned, but got it in easily.
Harrison had tried to pull his arm away, but Steve's grip was too strong. He supposed it might mean he'd get some relief from the pain, but the sudden realisation he might just knock him out had him panicked.
"No. I don't want it."
“It’s alright. Just some painkillers, nothing nasty.”
"I'm sorry."
“It’s okay. Just some painkillers, yeah? It’ll help.”
"Don't hurt me."
“I’m not going to. I’m going to help, yeah?”
"Promise?" He finally looked up at Steve, searching the older man's face.
“Promise.” Steve said firmly. “I’m going to need to put that shoulder back in, and that might hurt a bit, but let’s sort your pain first okay?”
Relief flooded his features. "'Kay."
“I won’t lie and say there’ll be no pain, but I’m going to be helping.”
Harrison nodded, letting Steve fuss around him. The promise of pain relief was good enough for him to leave Steve in control. Besides, he knew he'd be useless if he tried, aside from getting in the way.
Steve carefully gave the pain relief. “Give that a moment to kick in. Just keep breathing through the pain for me, I know it’s hard.”
He hummed, quickly feeling the pain relief, the room spinning. "Did Fao get away?"
“Made it to the safehouse, yeah.”
"Mm, good. Henri had it all planned. Had to do something to distract him."
“This is a bit overkill though, Hars.”
"He went too far."
“What a cunt.” Steve muttered. “How’s the pain now?”
"Better."
“You’re soaked to the skin. Can I get these clothes off?”
Fear flashed across his face. "He found the water."
“I can tell. There’ll be no more of that, not here. I’ll get some warm, dry clothes.”
"Okay." He sighed. "You can just cut it. I'm not moving my arm."
“They’re wrecked anyway.” Steve said, grabbing his shears.
"Yeah. I don't want them."
Steve worked quickly, and soon the wet clothes were discarded, replaced with thick blankets for now. He’d get proper clothes once everything was sorted.
He knew he needed to sedate Harrison to reduce his shoulder and sort his fingers. The pain relief had worked, but he was going to need more than that.
“Hars? I need to sort your shoulder now.”
"How?"
“It just needs putting back in place.” He said gently. “I’ll give some more for the pain, and some antisickness. Won’t take long.”
"Okay."
Happy that was good enough consent, Steve gave the antisickness and the dose of sedation he wanted. It would be best if Harrison didn’t fight this, even better if he didn’t remember.
"Steve?" He asked thickly.
“Yeah?”
"Dizzy."
“That’s okay, that’s just the meds. Don’t worry about it.”
Steve wouldn't lie. "Alright."
“Nice deep breaths for me. Well done, you’re doing so well. How are you feeling?”
"Still hurts."
“I’ll get you some more meds.” Steve said gently, turning away to give more. “There. We’ll let that work.”
He frowned. "Fucking hell."
“Sorry, sorry. What is it? Dizzy?”
Harrison nodded, doing his best to breathe through it. "Too much."
“I’m sorry.” Steve said gently. “Try and relax into it, yeah? You’re safe now.”
"Trying."
“I know. You’re doing great.”
He gave a huff in response, too out of it to do much else.
Happy now he was properly relaxed and sedated, Steve could get a quick x-ray of Harrison’s shoulder and fingers. It was obviously dislocated, and the fingers broken, but it was good to have some images as a starting point. Still happy with his sedation, he could then go about putting the shoulder back, carefully grasping his arm. It was hard - it had obviously been out of place for a while - but he was well practiced by now and took his time.
Harrison whined as Steve started to manipulate his shoulder, the drugs clouding his rational thought. "Get off."
“Sorry, it needs to be done, Hars.” Steve told him. “Won’t be long.”
"It hurts."
“I know, I know. Just give me a minute, yeah?”
"Please." He murmured. "I've been good. I've had enough."
“I’m helping, I promise. Just give me a minute.” Steve groaned, and managed to shift the joint back into socket.
Harrison moaned in pain, trailing off into a relieved sigh. It still ached, and the muscles spasmed around the joint. He struggled to get comfortable for a moment, shifting in the bed. The relief from the relocation was simply bliss, and he soon found himself drifting.
“You keep that still for me.” Steve said, glad Harrison had stopped fighting. He needed to sort the leg wound out now, and he worried that would set him off again, but he didn’t have a choice. Delicately, he cut through the makeshift bandage, trying to get a better look at the wound itself now he had better light.
He whined as the bandage was pulled off his leg, the dried blood sticking to the wound. He stretched his good arm out to push Steve off, confused why he'd be hurting him again.
“Sorry, I know it hurts. I need to stitch it.”
"No."
“I know it’s not nice, I won’t be long. It’s nasty though, Harrison, it needs looking at.”
"Steve." He whined, aware he was acting childish, but too out of it to care.
“I know. I’m really sorry, I’ll be done soon.” Steve murmured. “Try and relax, yeah? I bet you’re exhausted.”
"It's nasty because he shot me."
“Because he’s a cunt, which is why I need to sort it.”
"Gently."
“Of course gently.”
"Good."
“I’m going to numb it in a minute, alright? Then it won’t be sore.”
"Good." Harrison nodded to himself.
Steve reached once more for his supplies. “It’ll sting, but then it’ll be better.”
"Promise?"
“Promise.” Steve murmured.
"Please be gentle."
“As gentle as I can be.” He reassured, starting with the local. “It’ll sting, sorry.”
Harrison groaned. "Ouch."
“I know.”
"I need a drink."
“Maybe later, yeah?” Steve said, taking his time to numb the whole area. “I’ll get you something to help.”
"After this."
“After this.” Steve agreed, finally finished. He left it a little time to go numb, hoping it would give Harrison time to mellow again under the sedation.
He drifted for a little while, until Steve started prodding again. "Ow. Steve?"
“Yeah?”
"Can we have a whiskey?"
“Maybe later, yeah?”
"Together."
“Yeah, maybe later.”
"Steve?"
Steve stifled a sigh. “Yes, Hars?”
"Thank you."
“You’re welcome.” He said, softening.

Matt Weinberger Wants to Take Your Photo for PAPER's 'Fresh Pressed' This is Fresh Pressed, in which photographer Matt Weinberger takes us inside some of the rawest moments happening in NYC and beyond. Fresh Pressed is all about encountering the juicy ideas, aesthetics and people shaping culture through the lens of the city's many creative scenes.Playdate at Paul's @ Paul's Baby Grand (1/25/23)Every Wednesday, Paul's Baby Grand — which has a reputation for one of the toughest doors in NYC — is overtaken by seasoned nightlife personalities for "Playdate at Paul's," organized by Orson Childress. This Wednesday started off with Nina Tarr on the DJ deck, with Orson hopping on for the party's crescendo. Once the disco ball was up and turning, that’s when you knew it was time to turn up, grab your French 75, and dance, dance, dance. Around 1 AM the staff brings around platters with a surprise snack. This week they served an assortment of macaroons.Beepy Bella x doublesoul @ The Gutter NYC (1/25/23)What do you get when you jiggle a magical frog and make a wish for a fairy-goth quirky-queen bowling alley sock-filled extravaganza? Beepy Bella is Isabella Lalonde’s brainchild of fun designs geared toward the cool kids of the future and loving loners. Isabella partnered up with doublesoul, an up-and-coming cult-favorite brand, started by Ben Rosenbaum and Allison Strumeyer, known for making really comfortable unisex socks.Lunar New Year Rave (1/20/23)Alice Longyu Gao's annual Lunar New Year Rave was the most hyper-electric way to welcome in the Year of the Rabbit. The party was planned by Alice The Club, Gao's club night brand, alongside Charlie Yates and Maisy Kind Swords of party collective Grapenut brunch Club. The night was filled with an eccentric flow of scene regulars and newcomers hopping around the crowded space. DJs included Number1fairytale, Harry Teardrop, Angel Emoji, Lulu.Wav, Milkfish, TheLimitDoesNotExist and Gao herself. A portion of the proceeds went to Project Reach.Club Eat's "Bubblegum" Single Release Party @ Mehenata Bulgarian Bar (1/20/23)A sweet mess of refreshing goodness — the kind of party one can only wish there were more of. The crowd chewed up the good energy and the DJs spit out banger after banger. Ren of Club Eat performed a few songs, including their new single "Bubblegum" — a performance somewhat stifled by a garbled audio system. But the crowd ate it up anyway. No one seemed to mind the audio problems because, well, Club Eat is awesome and the energy was on a major good vibrancy mode. Jaxon Demme's "Celestial Cues" Opening @ No Gallery (1/20/23)A bustling crowd burst out the doors of No Gallery and onto Henry Street for the opening of Jaxon Demme's solo exhibition. The show consisted of a number of paintings and drawings encircled by a flurry of 96 concrete butterflies, creating an immersive space, breaking the boundaries of the canvas. Viewers fluttered through the gallery space, exchanging hugs and chattering as they took part in the ritual Friday night gallery hop. The show dealt with themes of reincarnation, corporeality and a refute of specificity of form. As the night ended, like butterflies, the many attendees migrated off in search of something new. The popular spot seemed to be Mr. Fongs, where the unofficial after party was to take place. The Dare's Freakquencies Party @ Home Sweet Home (1/19/23)Harrison Patrick Smith's ("The Dare") Freakquencies Party is back on a sporadic basis, and the comeback night was a special one. The dance floor was squeaky as the room boogied into the night. The air was thick and the sweat was sticky but the grooving never died down. Now all we can do is sit tight and look forward to The Dare's next single."Afters," A Play by Matthew Gasda, First Reading @ Beckett Rosset's Loft (1/18/23)The first reading of Afters, a sequel to Matthew Gasda's hit Dimes Square, took place at Beckett Rosset's West Village loft space and featured an all-star cast including Christian Lorentzen, Cassidy Grady, Anika Jade Levy and Vishwam Velandy. Gasda’s writing is sharp and witty, exploring the emotional nuance and all-too-common irreverent discourse often apparent in the daily interactions of city-dwelling millennials.Hot Blue Subway Fashion Show and After Party @ Deluxxe Fluxx (1/14/23)Aa night of multidisciplinary entertainment filled with two runway shows, live music, drag performances, great DJ sets, and a crowd that was starving to get their boogie on. All heaven broke loose. Music blasted and the night was filled with cheers and whistles - a sprint of great performances. DJ sets by Jackson Walker Lewis, Abby Kuskin, yesterdayneverhappened, and Velvette Blue were interspersed by live performances by Atom Vegas, Alexis Jae, Localhotdad, and Paid Victim with a second runway show of the night hopping into the mix showcasing a new line by Goodsport, designed by Madison Calderon. The audience was also treated to a few hyper-fun drag performances by Fin Argus aka Pig Milk, Prince Dyonne, and Lucia Fuchsia. The crowd was eating it all up — a genuine twelve-course dinner of talent goodness. I imagine most anyone who attended left feeling satisfyingly full, with stomachs, minds, and hearts filled with the joy of seeing some of what the many talented treats of NYC have to offer. Cheers, swig, smile, an abundance of style. Pom Poms, dyed hair, neon lights.Perfectly Imperfect x Forever Magazine Party @ Baby's All Right (1/13/23)I like that Ezra, who is a popular writer/journalist, is getting out there hopping on the DJ deck (everyone loves a multidisciplinary renaissance man). Alice put on an absolutely electric set as she bounced around the stage like an enchanted ball of pent-up hyperpop energy. At one point she threw on The Dare's beloved single “Girls,” which roused the crowd into a state of a jovial glitch-nirvana frenzy. Angel Prost, another scene favorite, who makes up one half of the on-the-rise band The Frost Children alongside her sister Lulu Prost, did nothing less than perform greatness. She is the quintessential good DJ: awe-inspiring, aspirational and other-worldly, all while playing music that makes it impossible not to dance. At one point, Lulu hopped up on stage with Angel and, like the Avengers assembling or the Power Rangers turning into a Megazord (or whatever it is they do), a new strength and power was unleashed, and the venue turned into a burning-hot frost puddle of boiling enthusiasm. Lulu’s cameo on stage was definitely a top moment of the night, adding to what was already a great mesh of some of NYC’s favorite cultural personalities. The night ended with Ren from Club Eat performing a low-key set in the front room of the venue as things wound down.Chrissie Miller's Party @ Jeans (1/12/23)Chrissie Miller's Party @ Jeans (1/12/23)An interesting mix of the most recent old guard and the new, with the general crowd being a bit older than myself (people in their 30s, 40s). I got the sense that a lot of the older crowd had been a part of the cool kid NYC scene back in the '90s and 2000s. I heard that one of the co-hosts, Chrissie Miller, was married to Leo Fitzpatrick, who played Telly in Larry Clark’s seminal film Kids (1995). Some faces of note included Sabrina Fuentes of Sicky Sab (who I first saw perform when I was in high school), Rex DeTiger (who has a great business card), Zak from Lucien (who I finally let borrow a roll of film from me), Reza Nader aka The Arab Parrot (who may be my new favorite doorman in NYC) and Quinn Elin Mora (who is a fantastic model). Smiles, hugs, furs and leather. Sheer tops, booty drops, three chains and a room filled with potential fame. https://www.papermag.com/fresh-pressed-january-2023-2659270688.html

The Hating Game mob!Tom x mob!reader Part 4
Tumblr media
"What am I to you then" He walks over and starts putting his tie on with the rest of his suit. "Right your just going to ignore me" You scoff "That's why I thought I was just another one of your girls because one second you love me the next you hate me and I'm going back to hating you" You walk out and drive home with Taylor. Your meeting goes horrific you had to kill everyone. Tom walks in right when you shoot Gilberts secret agent "Why the bloody hell would you shoot Gary!?"
"He's a triple agent dumbass he's been working with Gilbert and Gilbert sent him to both of us to get information about us" Tom points his gun at you "What the he-" He shoots it and you close your eyes. "There was a guy behind you trying to kill you, your welcome" You get a flashback.
*6 years ago* Stanley had just shot your best friend Henry when your mom runs up behind you he shoots her. "NO!" You run to her crying "No mom please" *Now* "Y/n, Y/n hey you ok you look like you got dizzy all the sudden" You start crying. "What's a matter what happened Y/n please talk to me your freaking me out" You look at Tom "Stanley h-h-he killed my mother and he was the "Intruder" that killed my father and my best friend a-and when you pointed your gun at me and shot the guy it was the same thing that happened with my mother" He hugs you "I'm so sorry" You wipe your tears "What are you doing here" He sighs "Have you ever heard why our families have been enemies" You shake your head "No my father would never tell me because when we were 8 I saw you and thought you were cute and my father nearly cut my head off" You both laugh "You need to sit down"
"My room follow me, boys clean this up you know how the routine works make sure no one knows they were even here especially Gary" You show Tom to your room and you both sit down on the bed "Nice room" You smile "Thanks" He looks back at you "Alright my father discovered you when we were 1 years old he tried to go make a deal with your father that we would marry at 18 that it would benefit both families they were best friends until the whole deal went down I don't know what happened but there was a lot of blood as the years went by your father slowly tried to kill us the day he died was the day that he was going to come and kill all of us to make sure you'd never marry a Holland" He looks up at you "We're supposed to be married" He nods "Yes well if your father accepted the deal" You mumble "That's what the rings are for"
"What" You look at Tom "The other day I-I saw rings I figured they were your parents wedding rings" Tom looks down "When I was 13 my dad told me and ever since then I've wanted to marry you but then you started hating me more and more then we got this Hating Game thing and I was just happy that you even let me talk to you and when you took this deal-" You look at Tom "Give me the true reason why I should stay right with you and not kick you out, 3 words eight letters say it and I'm yours" He looks at you "I-I" You look down and nod "I'll see you Monday when we kill the Gilberts please leave"
Monday "We need a distraction" You look at Tom "They haven't seen me since I was 5 I had my men clear my name where they have no idea who I am hints the outfit I'm fixing to put on I'll go cause a distraction" Tom has been mad ever since you kicked him out. "And how do you expect to do that" You smirk "I just so happen to have a degree in acting how do you think I tolerate you" Taylor and Harrison laugh Tom gives Harrison a death glare and he stops. "Taylor where's the stupid outfit" he hands it to you and you step into the bathroom and change when you come back you have a blonde wig on a green plaid skirt with a white long sleeve that you tied to where its white below your boobs and shows too much cleavage with high heels. "Your kidding right your not wearing that" You look at him confused and do a british accent and copy him "What the bloody hell do you mean" Harrison and Taylor starts laughing again.
"He's going to be eye fucking you the whole time" You roll your eyes "That's the point dumbass while I'm distracting Gilberts son since my men killed his father a few weeks ago on my signal you, your guys and my guys are going to come in" Tom drinks the rest of his drink "And what exactly are you planning on doing with Gilbert" He raises an eyebrow "Depends on how turned on he gets" You could tell Tom was fuming "Taylor where's the microphone thing" Tom looks at you "Oh not only am I going to walk into you both fucking but I gotta hear it how wonderful" Taylor rolls his eyes "Its for her protection incase it goes south and he tries something" Tom turns around "She's going to get caught the second her clothes are off" Taylor looks at Tom "That's why I'm putting it in between her hair and the wig so everything will be muffled a little thank god" Taylor hides the mic and you laugh
"Alright Taylor you know the signal, I'll see you boys on the other side" While you walk out the van you say "Lets go fake an orgasm" Which made Taylor laugh. You walk into the warehouse they had you meet them at. "Lucas?" Your looking around "Back here darling" You walk down the hallway which leads to a room. When you step in he kisses you and I'm gonna save you the horrifying details right now Lucas is on top of you "Fucking" you which your faking moans you already sent the signal so it should be any second. Tom burst in with Taylor and Harrison by his side holding guns pointing at Lucas's head and all of yours and Toms men behind him. "What the he-" You kick Lucas off of you. And quickly pull your skirt on with your shirt and pull the wig off and one of your men hand you your gun so you point it at Lucas as well.
"Oh I should have known it was you Y/n" You look at him confused "What do you mean we haven't seen each other since we were like 5" He laughs "You mean you really don't recognize me I mean the hair probably throws you off" You realize "Oh my god" Tom seen the fear in your eyes which he's never seen you fear someone "How the hell are you alive I killed you" Lucas well should I say Stanley smirks "I knew you were coming to kill me so I had my twin brother go to the "deal" and switched styles with him" You look at him in disbelief "Y-Your really a Gilbert" Lucas rolls his eyes "Oh don't act so shocked why do you think I killed your mother, best friend and father you were next but things got in the way" Toms shocked "You married a Gilbert"
"I didn't know he was Gilbert obviously!" Lucas looks at you "I mean I do gotta say I'm a little hurt you didn't recognize me when we were fucking" You laugh "Like it was so memorable with you, your right I should have known only you don't know how to make someone cum" Lucas laughs "Didn't hear you complaining all those times, I was your first time and not only that but you haven't been with anyone since so how do you kno-" You smirk "Oh I have been with somebody else actually he's in the same room hint hint it was Tom and guess what that was best sex I've ever had mainly because he put my pleasure before his own something you were and never will be capable of"
Tom smirks "You missed out at least the moans we're real" Lucas is fuming "Alright time for the surprise to Y/n then" Your father walks in and your shocked "D-Daddy oh my god your dead there's no way" Your father looks at you "Princess put the gun down come with me and Stanley and you'll be ok" You shake your head "No I'm not going with him" Your dad sighs "Princess please I don't want this to get messy he can give you anything you need and want" A tear runs down your cheek "No I'm not going with him why didn't you ever find me o-or even come to the house" Your father takes another step closer to you "It wasn't the plan" He grabs Tom by the neck and points a gun to his head "Daddy no!"
"Princess either you shoot him I do" Your crying "No no don't please" Your dad looks at you "Shoot him" You shake your head "Daddy please don't make me do this don't hurt him" Your dad looks at you with anger "He tricked you into loving him didn't he" You shake your head "You know I've always loved him I told you that I loved him" Your dad shakes his head "Kill him Y/n now" he pushes Tom to where he's on his knees "Ok" You point the gun at Tom but then shoot your dad in the chest and Harrison does the same to Stanley but in the head. Your dad falls to the ground and Tom stands up and you both walk over to his body "I told you I loved him this is on you I didn't enjoy doing this" Tom smirks "Your daughter calls me daddy too"
Your jaw drops because your shocked Tom said that and those were the last words your father ever heard before he died. You look at Tom "Did you really-" Tom proudly nods "Yep" You shake your head while you both laugh.

I watched as Tom sat on my grave, for the 5673 time. Yes, I counted every time, every day. It had been 5673 days since I left him, 5673 days since my 'dead'. Well, in his eyes. It all began on november the 13th 2014..
november 13th 2014
It was a rainy day in the streets of London. I woke up first, as usual. I turned around the bed, feeling the mascular arms of my boyfriend around my waist, feeling save in his grip. As I finally turned around I was greaten by his gorgeous face which looked so peacefull asleep.
I knew how Tom always was stressed out all the time, angry, sad and exausted because of the mob he runned. So seeing him this calm and relaxed made myt heart melt. I admired his face for another 10 minutes before I planted a soft kiss on his sweet lips. As I backed away I saw a light smile slip into his my boyfriends lips before his eyes slightly opened.
He blinked a few times before he looked at me with a big smile on his lips. "God, i love waking up like this." he chuckled wrapping both his arms around me making me fall into him and giving me more kisses as we both laughed at his movements.
"We have to get up, you have a meeting at 8 today." I giggled unwrapping myself out of his grip. I got up as he sight and yawned causing me to yawn as well before we both burst out laughing again. "Why can't I just stay here in bed with you all day long?" he sighed again while hugging me back to bed and snuggling his head on my chest. "We both know that's not an option Tom." I hugged him back before i actually got out of bed this time.
"Come on sleepyhead, get up." I chuckled as i changed myself in his shirt and some sweetpeants. "Your wish is my command darling." he grinned as he got out as well. "Yeah, just like you told me the first time we met." I teased while playfully rolling my eyes, remembering that day.
"I was just being bossy, that's all. And please stop mentioning that day. I hate how i treated you back than." He scoffed making his way to the bathroom. "And how did you treath me than?" I asked knowing exactly what he ment. "Like you were just like everyone else. But your not, your perfect and special." He slightly yelled from the bathroom before he added "and my girlfriend!"
I smiled at the thought of that before also making my way to the bathroom, making myself ready for the day.

"Let her go John! She has nothing to do with this." Tom harshly said as he watched how his lovely girlfriend sat on her knees, being pulled looking up by her hair. "We both know she does, son. Henry will be happy with her, thanks to you." John replied while laughing and looking at the crying girl on the ground.
"Take me! I'll do everyhting your boss wants! He can even have the mob if he wants, just- don't take her." Tom yelled as he tried to stay strong while everyone in the room knew he was holding back his tears.
Harrison's and y/n's eyes widened at Tom's mention of giving away the mob. The mob was everything he basically worked for. Tom loved his mob like nobody else did. The mob was his life, altrough that's what everyone always thought.
John worked for mister Gray or, Henry Gray, your father, one of the most biggest and succesfault's mob owner but also Tom's biggest enemy. Y/n ran away from home when she was 20. To her, her father always was a mysterious man who almost never would come home. Her mother sadly died when the girl little was six, so she basically hasn't any good memories left of the woman she used to call mother.
When she ran away she got herself a job at an bar and bought herself a little cozy appartement with the mony she stole from her father. Her life was like that for almost three years, before she met Tom. He changed her whole life and yes, it was hard in the beginning but after a lot of yelling and fighting the two finally found love and warmth in each other.
Tom knew how much of a risk it was to give the girl his heart since he knew who her father was but couldn't push her away, how much he tried, he couldn't, he loved her way to much. But today, after the assisstant of his biggest enemy stormed in with a bunch of other men with guns pointed to their head he regretted it. He regretted putting the woman he loved in danger. He regretted starting this mob. He regretted taking her home with them in the first place.
"Hahaha Tom, do i really look that stupid?" John laughed and scoffed at what Tom just said about the mob. "Everyone in this room know's how much you love this little pathetic mob of yours. A simple girl like her won't change anything about it. So just tell me the truth, does she really has the dna or not?" John looked straight at me while i scoffed a little "asshole" under my breath.
After he didn't get a respond he picked up he's gun and pointed it at the girl who was still laying on the ground being in pain.

"DON'T FUCKING HURT HER!" I yelled before i heared the gun that was pointed at the back of my head click, ready to fire it's bullet. "Oh sush Tom, i can do whatever i want with he-" John laughed before he got interrupted by Harrison who stood next to me, in the same potition as i was.
"ENOUGH!" I heared him yell before the sound of gunshot's followed. "Y/N!" was the last thing that escaped my mouth before everything went black.

That day was the worst out of my life. I got shot and my father's men send me to the hospital. I don't know how they found out that day where i was or how i stayed at Tom's but they did. Since that day Tom thought i was dead. My father payed a nurse to tell them that i didn't survive.
Tom, Harrison and his girlfriend were also save and healthy but of course sad that i was 'gone'. I heared from my father's man that Tom didn't leave his house, only to visit my grave. It hurted me so incredibaly much to see Tom stand there every single day sad because of my dead but my father made it very clear what would happen if i ever made contact with any of them.
Every day since then i go see Tom, visiting my grave. My father doesn't know anything about this. Every time i go watch him, i tell him that i'm going for lunch and surprisnigly enough he believed that, ever single time. He's very busy with his own mob and it's not like he gaves a shit about me. I recently found out that there's something special in my dna and they apparently need it. That's why i also need to give blood, everyday.
It hurts like hell to see Tom everytime like that. Altrough he's strong and heartless most of the time, i sometimes catch a tear slip down on his cheek. Most of the time when he visit's the grave he stay's for an hour or two. So, today i got there again, at the same time as always, hiding behind some trees, to see him sitting down already. But this time, he was writing something.. A letter?
After he was done writing i catch a tear again. It was quiet a long time ago since i saw him cry again. Not long after i felt the hot tears on my face for the millionth time and as soon as he left i got up to the grave and picked up the flowers he brought and the letter he just wrote a minute ago. I smelled the flowers deep and chuckled before i sat down at my own grave and began reading the letter.
Dear y/n,
It's been 8 years today since I saw that beautifaul face of yours again. 8 years since i lost the love of my life. 8 yeard since i've made the biggest mistake of my life by letting you die.
I miss you so much love. I miss you so incredible much. I miss your bright smile. I miss your gorgeous face, your little nose, your sweet pink lips, your cute little freckless, your beautifaul eyes, your soft hair, you. I miss waking up next to you. I miss you playing around with Tessa. I miss seeing you happily cook in the kitchen. I miss our little trips to wherever we want while blasting our favourite songs in the car. I miss you so much princess, everyday more.
I know you probably don't know this but because of you i'm a better person. You were the only one who could easaly turn my lips into a smile. You were the only one who actually kept going with le, trying to make me happy while i pushed you away, every single time. But you still tried and i'm incredibly thankfull for that. I hope you know how much you mean to me y/n.
I miss you. I adore you. I love you.
I've never told you this before and I regret it so fucking much. I really saw a future in us. Me proposing to you, us having the perfect wedding and honeymoon. Our little y/n's and tommy's running around with Tessa in our dream house. But uffortunately things turned out the other way and all this became a perfect dream. I know I actually never told you this but before I met you I always felt awefull. I had nightmares, every night. I don't know how or why i had them but i just did. They suddenly stopped the first night you slept with me. I was so happy and lucky to have you and to call you mine. But the day you left us, the day you left me, they started again. But this time they were even more awefull. Ever since that day i couldn't stop having night mares about that day. I couldn't stop seeing your painfull face in my dreams. I wake up every night, my heart beating out of my chest and my cheeks filled with tears. I still have them, after 8 years. I tried going to a psygologe and tried talking to other people about it but nothing worked. And i hate that my only vivide memorie of you is of the one day you left me. But of course God isn't a magician.
I started following my passion, like you always told me to. I started chasing my dreams of becoming an actor and you for sure won't believe me if you were here but i'm a succesfull actor now. I got the big roll of spiderman, couple years ago and everyone on this world now practically knows me.
Anyways, enought about me, how are you doing? Everything good in heaven? I hope you made some awesome friends and maybe, who knows, a good boyfriend? Me at the other hand isn't doing so well in the love life haha. It's pretty hard to find someone who isn't you, you know?
Sam and Harry are trying for years to find someone new for me but i just simply don't want anyone else.
I miss you love, i know you were the one, your the love of my life.
I love you.
sincere,
your husband boyfriend
Thomas
What did i do? I made Tom so depressed for so many years, letting him think he lost the love of his life. I'm a monster, i toke loveness from him. I'm horrible.
I ly'd down by the grave, holding the roses, reading the letter over and over again while tears felt on the paper. until..
"y/n?" I heard a male voice from behind me. I turned around only to be met with those gorgeous chocolate brown eyes i hadn't see for years.
"Tom.." I shockily said, standing up with the bouquete flowers and letter still in my hands. This was the first time i've seen Tom this vivide again, the first time i've been this close to the love of my life since 8 years.
His eyes we're unbelievebly red. His cheeks we're so wet that I swear, a mosquito could drown in it. At this point i actually get how much i've missen this person. I swear I could fall back crying like a baby so hard right now. "I- I- I" we're the only words that escaped my mouth.
I wasn't thinking straight and I think he wasn't as well because he suddenly gave me a hug. And no, it wasn't just a hug, this hug was incredible. It felt like it opened so much emotions at once. I could hear him sober after a while hugging me really tight and before I knew it the sobering of both of us were in max volume.
After a while we calmed down and he was the one to let go of me. He didn't say anything and neither was I. He just held both my shoulders, like he was telling me to not go away this time. We both just looked in each other's eyes and didn't say a word.
This moment felt like age's which it probably also was. After a few minutes of just stating he suddenly let go of me. "What? How? I don't get it." He said sniffing his nose with the end of his suit, looking down. "I have so many question, but the most important one, why?" He quietly asked, slowly looking up to meet my eyes again.
Oh no he thought I just suddenly let him because I wanted to, I can see it in eyes, the fear he was holding back was all written in his eyes.
"No, no that's not it." I tried telling him but he just looked blankly at the ground. "I didn't left you behind tom." I tried to say, as calm as I could but he just kept staring at the ground, wiping his tear away this time.
"Tom." I sighed, sniffing and taking his hands while he seemed to be shocked by my touch. He finally looked at me and I tried my fucking best to make my lips smile, but it was way more difficult then I thought.
He suddenly took his hands out of mine, turned around and made his way back to where he came from. "Tom!" I tried to yell his name while running after him but he didn't listen. "TOM!" I yelled, but again, he kept on walking.
"I LOVE YOU." I yelled stopping with running after him. There it is, i said it. I came against my biggest fear. I told Tom that I loved him. For the first time i told him what I had to keep for myself these entire 9 years.
He suddenly stopped and it looked like he just.. froze? The rain suddenly started to pout harder, it just felt like a sad break up movie..
He slowly turned around as he finally faced me again. "Wha- what?" He asked as if he didn't know it already, what an dumbass. "I- I love you." I said, thinking about what I just said, I knew that what I said was true, there was no reason to keep lying to him, he knew to much already.
I started to slowest walk towards him as the rain was still pouting on our heads, as if we were showering, just like we used to do together..
"I love you. I didn't want this to happen, ever. I'm not the one who choose this life Tom. My dad forced me, they payed the nurses to tell you that I was dead. I cried, I cried so much because I wouldn't be able to be with you anymore. I cried because I thought I'd may never face you again. I cried because I hated my father so hard for doing this to me. Believe me, if there was something I could've done to go back to you without hurting you or the others i would've done it a long time ago. Tom, I love you, you would be the last person I would wanna leave." I explained to the love of my life.
"y'n-" Tom began, although the much rain I still could see the tears going down on his face. "I read the lett-" I interrupted him but before I could finish my sentence he interrupted me by kissing me so fucking hard.
I swear to god, the kiss was at least 3 minutes before we pulled out to both get some air. But as soon as we pulled out he grabbed me again and cuddled me again, again so fucking hard. "Tom- your hurting me." I tried to explain as I felt his grip loosen a bit but still tight around me, which I didn't care about anymore.
He turned to face me again but his arms were still wrapped around me. "I love you to." He whispered looking from my right eye, to my left eye, to my lips and that over and over again. "I know." I chuckled. "I read the letter, like I was trying to explain sooner." I smiled seeing he was still doing his rhythm before pulling him in and kissing his wet lips again..

How I Go to the Woods
Summary
“I can hear the almost unhearable sound of the roses singing.”
Words: 4390
Read On Ao3
TW: child death
It was an aching in his chest.
Return to the woods.
They’re calling for you.
Arthur stared at his ceiling in absolute anguish.
The clock on his bedside table read 4:37.
His home in Spitalfields felt like it was closing in on him. The air was heavy in his lungs and no amount of gazing at familiar objects eased him. His socks felt suffocating. Nothing felt comfortable, nothing felt right. He listened to the second hand making its journey round, the minute fully passing echoing in the stuffy room.
He had been awoken from a reoccurring dream that he could still recollect. He was in a forest that didn’t exist on this plane, walking up winding staircases of trees larger than he’s ever seen. Fairies and gnomes lived in them. The doorways and windows were aglow and inviting and he could smell fresh pies and biscuits. The leaves rustled in a warm breeze and Arthur felt safe here. He couldn’t see the ground anymore but there was a lake in these trees. He could never fight the urge to dive into the too blue water. A crown sat gleaming at the bottom, perfect in condition yet looked like it had been sleeping here for centuries. He always woke before he could decide what to do.
4:38
He sat upright.
He had to appease them.
Just past the threshold of the curtains, he could hear them chattering in their twinkling language.
The fae that watched over his garden were growing restless.
He had been for days.
The covers were tossed aside, wrinkling in unfamiliar patterns.
It had been a mucky spring, the change from winter had been particularly slow this year. It was nearly Midsummer. The summer court was at least more pleasant to speak to.
Should he tell someone, he asked himself as he put his nightclothes in the hamper. It wouldn’t be the first time he’d vanished and ignored his government. He was a boy then. No matter, old habits should be expected.
Gentleman’s attire for the outdoors donned his form. He needn’t alert anyone who spotted him on his trek out. A simple holiday to the countryside he told himself as he pinned a cluster of rowan berries to the lapel of his vest.
He didn’t have to be as cautious as mortals but that didn’t mean he could be careless. A red scarf rested around his neck for the chill of the night and another precaution. He knew they hated him for taking so many.
He needn’t the clovers or special rings to see the True.
Arthur prepared his pack in steady time, things from his last outing still rested at the bottom. Tokens, gifts, and offerings were the most essential so were wrapped carefully in one of his old, knitted blankets. He would never take anything that was a gift from his children there. He went through his wallet, removing any photographs or memories that were unneeded.
In the kitchen he gathered his food and drink; surely the Court would be fine with packaged biscuits from Tesco. Water, bread, jam, honey, and whatever would keep in his bag for a few days. The world was civil now. He couldn’t board the tube with a bow and arrow.
The front door was locked, the windows dark, porch light glowing, and beckoning him to go back inside for a cup of tea and forgo this nonsense.
Salt was scattered on the welcome mat and the windowsills.
He didn’t need pixies in his home while he was away or other uninvited guests.
The walk to the station was more dreary than normal.
Mrs. Harrison and Mrs. Griffith were asking him to solve another dispute between them as to whose son should inherit the house on Primrose Street.
Arthur had to remind them not only were they both dead but so were both their sons; a nice gentleman named Henry Devonshire resided there now and could they please haunt him a little less.
His heart ached when Samantha asked him to skip rope, again when Edward wanted to play marbles.
He had to decline politely as passersby watched him speak to the air.
When the young lad tugged at the lantern hanging from his pack he hold to scold and promise the next time.
He had said that last time.
He kept his gaze forward the rest of the way to the station, ignoring even the imp that untied his shoelaces as he waited at the crosswalk.
Arthur fought the headache forming as he passed every empty phone booth that rang him.
The glowing screen of the ticket kiosk was his first moment of peace. Each name on the screen was a clear image in his mind, even if he hadn’t been there in a hundred-odd year. Arthur hadn’t thought much about where exactly he was going. The Court wasn’t set to one location though he knew where they favored. The old forests, hidden among ancient trees that even he had memories of resting beneath; King’s hunting grounds that he was invited to partake in where the feel of bow gripped in hand sent waves of euphoria throughout his body. He had gotten reprimanded for being a better shot than most of the nobles.
He had to get away from London.
Woodhouse Ridge near Leeds he visited last in 1919, enjoying the foggy moorland as music played from the bandstand even after the entrance gate was shut tight. The haunting music let him mourn.
Whinfell Forest, he visited several times in his youth in the 13th century and beyond. It was more holiday village than proper woodland for his liking these days but Cumbria as a whole had beautiful forests.
Ullswater had been popular for Victorian aristocrats; the lake was perfect for sailing. He took Matthew there once in 1867 and the shooting estate nearby proved his son certainly inherited his eye for targets. Entertaining Wilhelm II and Gilbert two years before the Great War was the last time he had been there.
Grass Wood in the Yorkshire Dales he had a soft spot for. It was home to one of the darkest skies in the country. Arthur could sit in the grass and stare at the same stars that he would gaze at in his mother’s lap. He would tell those same stories to Alfred among the lavender in Virginia centuries later. He had visited it just after the Second World War to curse at those same stars, to curse at the Hunt who had taken too many souls of his fallen men. He came back in 1958 to seek forgiveness and was granted permission to return to the woods.
A train ride for the day to stare out the window and do mindless tasks sounded perfect. He apologized to the man waiting behind him, wished him well, and made his way to the platform.
He heard passing comments that a few of the lines weren’t going to North London and certain ticket readers weren’t working. He ignored the irritated curses around him.
Seek assistance, the screen read.
Arthur really hadn’t the time.
He glared at the pixie sitting on his turnstile and shooed it away. There was still salt between his nails and an iron ring on his left forefinger.
The familiar burgundy seats of the LNER were almost God sent.
Really, he preferred first class for being left alone in considerable silence and the complimentary drinks.
The wait for eleven in the morning felt like an eternity for him to have that first sip of golden ale.
Thursday passed by in an almost daze.
He had made a call to an old friend informing him he’ll be wild camping for a few days and that he’ll be arriving after supper. Yes, yes, he was quite aware of the campsites and cottages. Perhaps the next time. No, there was no need to worry, he knew the woodland like the back of his hand. Of course, someone knew where he was if things were to go awry.
Waffles with plum and vintage port jam, one too many pastries, endless tea, and two glasses of spirits filled his belly by the time the sun was setting and the train was pulling into the station.
The stars greeted him as he approached the chest height gate. Awd goggies sat on the old wooden posts, eyeing Arthur with intense curiosity. Their caterpillar-like bodies wriggled as they spoke in old tongues. Oh, they have seen this one here before; this child would do no harm to the woods. He took note of where he was, he had to come through this gate again to leave but never again after that.
The moon was beautiful but not bright enough to entirely light his path. The lantern was lit and cast his shadow against the trees. He could hear them so clearly now. He looked about and found himself alone in the dark, he sat in the tufted grass to remove his shoes and socks, stuffing them into the depths of his pack. He let out a sigh and closed his eyes all for a moment. The ground was damp and soft and exactly the same. He could pretend things didn’t change here.
Everything stays.
Forward he moved; the playful will-o-wisps fluttering just out of the corner of his eye.
Being alone in his woods was a feeling he could never recreate anywhere as the centuries went on.
He didn’t want people to see him talking to the creatures, to press himself against the old oak tree and silently pray to old gods who he was uncertain could still hear him. Never in London or Bath or Liverpool could he be invisible. He could lay in the weeds and could listen to the rabbits burrow into his earth. He could hear the roses and the bluebells sing. Nothing minded him here. He had long ago befriended these woods. He’s told them his favorite colour was green, the birds were beautiful, and he loved scones with freshly made jam. Twigs and leaves crunched under his bare feet.
Albion sang into the hollowing wind.
He could hear them calling him from where shadows overlapped.
They had always loved his voice.
The Hawthorne towered over him and blanketed him from the heavens.
He sat and waited.
‘Remember me I ask, remember me I sing.’
His hands worked on a forgotten embroidery project in the steady flame of the lantern, the biscuits out of their plastic prison and waiting alongside him.
And then he heard the choir of bells. He stood upright and dimmed his light; he could see the bobbing of blue orbs approaching. Among them was a tall figure clad in a cloak of green and flora. The wind is soft and sweet as he approached. There stood before him was the Lord of Spring and his Court, returning home now that it was Midsummer's Eve. His crown glistened, made of natural treasures: rose quartz, bluebells, feathers of a swallow.
Albion bowed lowly.
“She has been waiting for you Child of the Earth. You know you needn’t linger on the outside. You pass through our doors almost as effortlessly as we ourselves do.”
“I’m here now. I thought it only polite to greet you, your highness. I hope you had a pleasant season with us. I appreciate the gifts you bring to my people. I must say, my garden is in excellent order as always.”
“You watch my children and give them gifts. Nothing more and nothing less.”
The mound of earth was open and Albion was temporarily part of the Spring Court to traverse into Fairyland. Albion knew it best to have a guide to come this way. The corridors leading into the Court were forever changing and only the Fae themselves could navigate it properly; hidden doors and passageways he could never remember hid in vines and stone.
He had made a foolish mistake to try to map it once.
The Seelie Court was how he always remembered. The room was evergreen, gnarled trees lining the walls with vines and flowers twisting up the trunks. Leaves and lights and trinkets hung from above that he carefully navigated through. The petals and moss below his feet felt like it was the same as his last visit. The Queen herself sat on her throne, her milky eyes watching his every step. She appeared as an adult woman this time around; she had been a child his last visit.
He was down on a knee in a respectful bow, a hand to his heart. “Your majesty, I heard your call. Please, I seek forgiveness for my tardiness.”
She stood from her throne and approached him, the purple petals caught in her wake. A hand was in his hair and his eyes stung.
“Child, no forgiveness is needed here- I knew you would come.” Her smile was both comforting and nauseating. “Dress yourself, we have somewhere we must be.”
He stood once the hand was removed. “If I may, your majesty, may I ask what is required of me?”
“A celebration of life. I was uncertain how long we could wait, but your timing is perfect Son of Britannia. Simply be merry- she was one of yours.”
“Hundreds are born and die each day. I cannot mourn them all.”
“We liked this one. It is harder and harder these days to find those who believe in us. A loss for not only your people but for our kind to continue on.” Her gaze bore into him. “You wish to escape the modern world all but for a short time, we wish to celebrate this life that meant something to us. Come with us, we have a long way to go. Leave your possessions here.”
He did as told, rummaging through his bag to pull out old clothes. He changed behind a curtain of wisteria, the green and gold tunic had somehow survived the ages (most likely the fair folk favored it and kept it in good condition for them to see). He admired the woven detail at the hem and sleeves; it was one of his own but could easily be credited as French made by the quality and embroidery work.
As he stepped back out, a crown of roses was placed upon his hay blonde locks, and lips were on his before he get out a single word. Sweet wine was in his mouth and a promise whispered in his ear that he would be returned. Albion was safe; they knew they never had a tight grip on him or his brothers like they did with mortals.
He swallowed greedily and asked for more in a low voice.
Music filled the air and he finally felt far enough away from Llyn Dian.
They danced to flutes and bells and chimes and pipes under the moon and sun, drums echoing through the hills every step they went. He completely lost track of how long it had gone on for or where he was.
But after he assumed a day (maybe more) of dancing, drinking, and merry, they had reached where they wished to be. A voice unheard throughout the journey there sang out into the new night. It was haunting and beautiful and a choir-like it now joined it. Round stones they all danced, lanterns held tightly in one hand with ribbons fluttering about behind. He spun and sang, hoping that whoever was meant to listen to their song could hear.
Albion could feel it in his chest.
It was a girl, one who not only had fallen in love with the Good People but had their love returned to her. She had gone on adventures in the moors and the trees. She hadn’t gone yet, her family waited at her bedside in the quaint, country hospital.
We were dancing for her, to tell her she was deep in our hearts.
She had seen deep places of Faeryland, fought monsters, and survived it all. Fair Folk far and wide had heard her name and now Albion knew it too- Hazel. Her family had come from Kent and had hoped the northern air would help their youngest daughter. She had always loved the Fair Folk, leaving them gifts in her kitchen and telling them stories in the park. They had done their best to take care of her. The sickness that had resided in her was one that not even they could heal.
Even magic had its limits.
One day she hadn’t responded to their invitation and from then, they could only watch her small life fluttering away.
So they danced and sang their songs of woe for her, a promise that even after she parted, they would watch and love her.
To Albion, to the Fae, she was another sorrow to be taken on top of thousands of others.
He had mourned for so many but that didn’t stop his eyes from being wet. He knew this wouldn’t be the one to drive him to madness. Perhaps it had. He was still dancing and the lights bobbing about it were blurred in his tear-filled eyes.
It didn’t matter, the weight was still heavy on his heart.
Oh Lord, he remembered still holding his children at that same age. Alfred had always protested because he claimed he was too big to be held that way anymore, but he would still lay his head in his lap when things felt unfair. Matthew would ask softly to be held whenever he couldn’t sleep and he would sing until they were both fast asleep. Jack could never keep still but always quieted in his hold when times were hard, especially if Charlie had also climbed to join them when they, too, were not alright. He had blinked and all at once, he was far too small. He could no longer carry them to bed or sit them in his lap as he told them stories. Suddenly, they were fighting in wars and carrying the entirety of the weight a nation must bear alone. He still felt times when they had died, failing to hold back tears as they screamed back into the world of the living. He should be grateful to have seen his children be strong enough on their own. Strong enough to hate him, strong enough to make their own stories, strong enough to set sail past the horizon, memories ebbing and flowing in a turbulent sea.
No, those were the losses that made him feel like he would be driven to madness and despair.
He wasn’t Fae, but he felt just as alienated from humanity with his preternatural mortal coil.
She died.
The sun rose.
Arthur collapsed.
He hadn’t a clue how long he was out for. The first thing he noted when his mind came to was the smell of cigarettes and the wool blanket around him.
“Aye, I got him, stop your fretting already.”
“Well forgive me for worrying. Merde, where was he this time?”
“I don’t know where he started, but I found him passed out in the middle of nowhere Northumberland.”
No, that didn’t sound right at all. Arthur had been in the bloody Dales miles away. As he shifted in what he assumed was the backseat of a car, he finally noted his pack half haphazardly squished between the seat and floor. More importantly, the aches in his body were starting to come forward. The worst was the throbbing of his feet, which, he only now realized were wrapped in clothe and were stained dark at the bottom.
“He wasn’t dead was he? Only God knows how many times he’s done that to himself.”
“Not this time unfortunately.”
There was gruff laughter and French curses.
“Really Francis he’s fine, I’m takin’ him back to my place for the time being. I’m only about an hour and half drive’s away, the lucky bastard. Ring him up tomorrow, I’m almost home.”
A long, dramatic sigh over the car’s Bluetooth. “D'accord, je t'appelle très vite, Alistair.”
“Take care, Francis.”
The radio played quiet music as if afraid to be much louder than the sound of the tyres going over the road. Arthur could see his brother’s eyes in the rearview mirror as they passed under street lights. He couldn’t quite place the expression but one he knew he made when the house quieted for the night. One that certainly made Matthew and Dylan fret over him like a mother hen.
When had night fallen? The last thing he remembered was the sun rising.
“Awake back there? I’ll take my thanks if you’ve sobered up you little shite.”
Arthur laughed dryly and sat up with his body protesting with each muscle he moved. The blanket was still clutched tightly around his form. “You didn’t have to come after my sorry arse.” He leaned his head against the cool window. “Everything was perfectly under control. I’m not a boy.”
“Could have fucking fooled me.”
It was quiet again, the silence almost tangible in the small space.
Alistair had always been better at handling the Fair Folk. He knew how to negotiate with poetic words. They had always liked Arthur for being a stupid child and a foolish drunk.
“You’re lucky some of them look out for you,” his brother’s deep voice finally broke the silence. “They told me what happened and left you as close to my border as they could. Took me all afternoon to get them to give me your shite. What the hell is your problem ye dafty?”
“You’ve grown up with them, same as I.” He straightened his spine. “How can you ignore them when they call to you like that? How can you ignore that ache in your chest to get away from all this nonsense? They’ve always been there and know how the earth has changed. They feel like they’re the only ones in the whole bloody world who understand.”
Arthur had always been as much as part of the wild as he had been the growing nation he was now. They were an island set apart from the rest of Europe and the rest of the world. It was just him and his brothers, who, had drifted apart as they came into their own identities. The Fair Folk were the same as a decade, a century, a millennium ago. He needed to be away from the motorways and telephone lines and constant chatter.
“We’re the only ones who understand what we are Arthur. No matter what pretty words they say, they don’t understand how we feel or what we are.”
“They watch the world change and can do fuck all about it. I’m stunned you don’t go running about the Highlands with them.”
“Yer aff yer head.”
“Why? What’s so different from getting pissed drunk? They can’t keep us forever. We’re part of the earth and have to be returned. Why do you tiptoe through them? You believe in them and have been with them longer than any of us! Why do you act like you don’t anymore?”
“Because we don’t fucking matter!”
Arthur suddenly felt very small.
“I’ve told you this once as a wee lad and I’ll say it again- we’ve never mattered. We don’t make law, we have no real power over our nations. We’re fancy tokens and cursed beings to wander the lands and feel every bit o’ pain the world can give us. None of us know why we’re here but we are. The Fae don’t ken a goddamn thing. If they were to take you for a century do you think England is going to stop functioning? They know too well that you don’t matter and find us curiosities to play with. We’re not them so stop runnin’ off and pretending you are. It was cute when you were a wee bairn but you’re just about two thousand years old now. Get your fuckin’ head back on yer shoulders you selfish prick.”
He shrank a bit into the seat, feeling his cheeks heated with embarrassment and anger. He wanted to shout back, to scream at his brother that he was the one being overprotective and needed to mind his own business. The tartan of the blanket caught his attention as the car was cast in the light of the city. The patterns had changed over the years but Arthur knew which ones he avoided. He never wore one associated with a clan, stating himself no matter what his surname was, he would never be a part of that family. The one wrapped around him was the same one he’s seen his brother go to war in throughout the 20th century and one he had forced on him after the failed Jacobite Rebellion in 1715. His brother always had a complicated relationship with tartan and where his ties lay.
They had no family but each other and their existence has always been a lonely one.
Arthur wished desperately for a warm cuppa in his hands. This was a fight he could not win.
“How long was I gone?”
“A fortnight.”
A too merry fiddler filled the gap of time between answers.
“Just drop me off at a train station. I want to go home.”
“Well, that’s too goddamn bad.” His brother’s tone had shifted back to something more familiar and light but he was still avoiding Arthur’s gaze in the mirror. “You’re staying with me ‘til I know you’re back to your awfy crabbit self. You need a bath anyway. You can leave the day after tomorrow, and you can call Francis in the morning.”
Good Lord, Arthur did not want to look at his mobile.
He huffed as they parked in front of the neat row of houses in Old Town, Edinburgh.
“Alistair?” his voice felt quiet even after the car was shut off.
A soft hum followed and the two sat in the dark car.
“Are you ever afraid of one of us dying?”
He knew the answer, he’s asked this before. His brother had answered it the same way time and time again.
“Aye.”
They sat in quiet company in the kitchen and the tea Arthur made was probably the only real apology and thank you he was going to give his brother that night.
Arthur’s chest ached.

Defender // 2
It’s been three years since Y/N retired. She’s been spending her days going to the local bakery, library and then heading home. Yet one day it all chances when she walked in and finds Tom, slouched in her kitchen, covered in blood, asking for help. Helping him will lead to her return to the lift that she left, and hasn’t looked back at. Characters - Tom, Reader, Anthony. Word Count - 1525.
Making your way along the carriage, avoiding some of the passengers feet. Tom turned to you a look of concern filled his eyes. ‘Rules?’ Tom asked, you took the bag from him. ‘Phones will have to go.’ You said, unzipping the bag. ‘Harrison will have to drop-‘ You stopped. ‘Where’s Alisa?’ You questioned, he glanced at you and swallowed thickly.’Tom, what’s actually happening?’ You asked, he wrapped his hand around the pole. ‘These men, they want her, I’ve managed to but them off with the business but the times up.’ He said, your shoulders dropped. ‘How long do you have?’ You asked. ‘Three days.’ He stated. ‘Okay.’ You replied, grabbing onto the pole as you jolted around. ‘Okay? I’m not asking you to do anything.’ Tom said, his eyes widened as the train slowed a few passengers pushing past the pair of you in order to leave.
‘Harrison.’ You greeted him, as you opened the door. ‘Y/N, surprised to see you.’ He said, Tom climbed in and you followed shutting the door behind you. ‘Where to?’ Harrison asked, raising an eyebrow. ‘S.G.C please.’ You said, he nodded before driving off. You slouched back on the seat, rubbing your forehead before pinching the bridge of your nose. Closing your eyes you leant back, letting the rocking of the car relax you.
‘We’re here.’ Harrison said, tom quickly got out but you reached into the bag and brung a bundle of money out. ‘Thank you, you can either come in or go home.’ You told him as he took the money. ‘I’ll go home and move the family.’ Hr said, both of you glancing at Tom. ‘He’ll need your help after this.’ You said, patting his shoulder before climbing out. Harrison turned and drove away before Tom and you started walking up to the door. ‘When were you last here?’ Tom asked, you fixed the bag strap. ‘Three years ago.’ You said, taking in the familiar building. ‘You’re on private property.’ A voice said, Tom stuttered in his step. ‘Yeah, that I fund.’ You replied, heavy footsteps echoed as the men walked out the shadows. ‘Boss.’ Henry said, you smiled at him. ‘I hope everything’s running smoothly.’ You teased, Henry and Charlie scoffed at you. ‘Are you coming back?’ Charlie’s questioned, the pair glancing at Tom. ‘There’s a problem that we need hep from the best people.’ You commented, they nodded. ‘There’s something we should tell you.’ Henry said, you raised an eyebrow before the door was opened. ‘Y/N.’ He said, his arms out stretched, the three men watched as you plastered a smile on your face. ‘Anthony, pleasure to see you.’ You greeted him. ‘We didn’t expect to see you.’ He replied, you ran your tongue over your lips. ‘Yes, an urgent matter needs attended to.’ You said, Anthony nodded before looking beside you. ‘And it consists of?’ He asked, you tutted. ‘You know we don’t discuss out here, safe room.’ You told him, he ran his tongue over his teeth before giving a tight smile. ‘Of course.’ He stepped to the side, gesturing fro you to enter. Sighing you walked forward, Tom following closely feeling the tensions between you and Anthony. He kept his head held high as he walked past him, his gaze focussed on him. When you entered the building you were greeted by Oscar, who gave you a wide and welcoming smile as you placed the bag on the belt, along with your shoes. Walking through the scanner, the murmurs of your employees and ex-colleagues filled your ears as you pulled your shoes back on. Sauntering further in your lifted your head, everyone was looking at you in shock but you looked to the top of the stairs, making eye contact with Maria. She raised an eyebrow but quickly looked to Tom, then back to you. You quirked an eyebrow and she nodded. ‘Do you remember where the room is?’ Anthony asked, you didn’t respond before you started marching towards it, everyone moving out your way. Anthony quickly caught up with you before swiping his card, the door buzzed open. You, tom Anthony and Maria entered the room, Anthony glared at her but didn’t say anything as you sat down. ‘Tom’s in trouble.’ You spoke up. ‘And he couldn’t come here himself?’ he asked. ‘Seems he went straight to the top.’ Maria said, Anthony glared at her again but she raised an eyebrow not seeming bothered. ‘She isn’t the boss.’ He stated, crossing his arms over his chest. ‘I might not work here anymore but it’s my business, I get the monthly run down.’ You said, he looked shocked. ‘I just need help with research, a couple of weapons and we’ll be gone.’ You stated. ‘Why?’ He questioned. ‘It seems a group is after Tom and his girlfriend.’ You stated. ‘Fiancé.’ Tom spoke up, you turned to him with furrowed eyebrows. ‘I proposed three months ago.’ He said, your eyebrows shot up. ‘Congratulations.’ You told him, patting his shoulder. ‘So what do you know?’ Anthony asked, you shrugged, ‘That’s why I’m here for the best researcher.’ You said, Maria ducked her head and mailed. ‘I’ll be gone tonight.’ You. Said, Anthony sighed before nodding. He turned and left the room, Maria quickly got out her seat and wrapped her arms around you, practically sitting in your lap. ‘It’s so good to see you.’ She stated pulling back. ‘You as well.’ You replied, smiling widely. ‘So what’s the group?’ Maria asked, turning to Tom. ‘Crimson Riders.’ He said Maria, almost dropped the tablet. ‘Really?’ She asked her nodded. ‘God, you know how to pick them.’ She teased. ‘Maria.’ You spoke up. ‘Right, sorry.’ She cleared her throat. ‘They are essentially an us, they protect people mainly criminals but they’ve been on a murdering rage.’ She stated, showing the blurry photos of the men and women. ‘What do they want with you?’ Maria asked. ‘They want Alisa.’ You stated, Maria looked confused. ‘Why?’ Maria asked. ‘She’s for money.’ You said, Tom’s head snapped around to you. ‘How’d you know?’ He asked. ‘At the cafe, she stood proper, moved the cutlery into the right position and the necklace she was wearing.’ You informed him, tapping your collarbone. He still looked shocked before nodding. ‘I need as much information on them as possible.’ You said, she nodded. ‘Tom and I are going for a shower.’ You said, pushing out the seat your muscles aching as Tom stood up as well. ‘I’ll see you.’ Maria said, typing away on the tablet. ‘The sowers are down the hall, third to the right.’ You told him. ‘Where are you going?’ He asked. ‘The gym, need to warm up before everything kicks off.’ You stated, he nodded before you both separated.
Pounding your fists against the punching bag, your breathing was heavy. You continued punching until the figure appeared at your side, glancing at him you watched Anthony stood behind the bag, stopping it from swinging. ‘What’s your plan?’ He asked. ‘I’m taking Tom, picking Alisa up and taking them to a safe house and then I’m going after them.’ You said, removing the wrap from your hands. ‘Is that what’s best?’ He questioned. ‘He’s not-‘ ‘I’m taking about you. Are you capable of taking them down?’ He questioned. ‘I only need to talk to the boss.’ You shrugged. ‘It’s one of the biggest, dangerous groups.’ He said, you dropped your hands. ‘I grew up in one of them, I know the ins and outs of how they roll.’ You reminded him, ripping the last of the wrap off, scrunching it up. ‘I’ll give you some men to watch them when you go.’ He said, you raised an eyebrow. ‘You can take Henry, Charlie’s, and a handful of my men.’ He said, rubbing your lips together before nodding. ‘You’ll need to get them ready, we’ll be leaving in an hour or so.’ You stated, signalling to Tom as he entered the gym. ‘Okay.’ He said, letting go of the bag and turned before walking away, pulling his phone out. ‘Are you feeling better?’ Yo asked him, Tom nodded as you looked at his bruises. ‘What’s the next move?’ He questioned. ‘I need to freshen up, we can grab something to eat before going to get Alisa and moving you.’ You said, he nodded but didn’t move. ‘Tom?’ You asked, he made eye contact. ‘Why me?’ He said, you looked at him confused. ‘Why does it happen to me? I cant just have ran that business.’ He said, his eyes darting around the fairly empty gym. ‘Tom.’ You said, he didn’t look at you. ‘Tom.’ You said again, this time placing your hands on his shoulders. He looked at your arms before focussing on your face. ‘Would you rather, you and Alisa broke up You questioned, he shook his head. ‘Well then, I see you as someone who’s brave, putting everything on the line to protect the one you love.’ You explained, giving his shoulders a tight squeeze. ‘So go get food, it’s a a long drive to the safe house.’ You informed him, he swallowed as you dropped your arms.

Leviathan/Female!MC
In true normie fashion, she convinces Leviathan to be her date on the anniversary celebration in honor of the Hell's Navy.

It's Leviathan Loving Hours, what else can I say? 💙
Word Count: 5.2k

If there was one thing she has learned over her multiple playthroughs of Dogi✩Magi✩Memorium with her boyfriend, it would be the importance of setting the mood when asking someone for a favor. Once the target was locked, every interaction with them bore a significant weight, including physical touch, if there should be any. Words uttered to them must be chosen with utmost care. Gifts, when presented to the target, in particular, those items in line with their preferences, would give higher chances of a positive outcome: intimacy up.
The front door clicked shut. She navigated through the hallways of the House of Lamentation with a purpose. An opportunity presented itself to her, and she was on her way to seize it. Once she reached the location of her target, who was none other than Leviathan, she halted, raised her occupied hand carefully, and knocked three times on his door.
“It is I,” she announced. “I come bearing gifts.”
There was a shuffling sound from the inside. After a few seconds, Leviathan answered, his voice in proximity, just behind the wood. “What’s the secret phrase?”
Three options flashed inside her mind, and though the secret phrase changed from one to another every single time she dropped by, she has been in the same situation numerous times. It was easy to decide which option was the correct one: the catchphrase in the transformation sequence of The Magical Mysterious Jane: Peony Phantom, one of Leviathan’s most recent anime obsessions. She began, “‘Lunaria.’”
“‘Wisteria.’”
“‘Primrose.’ ”
“‘Peony.’ ”
“‘Through the power of the flower, I’m as pretty as I can be.’”
“‘I’m the magical, mysterious Levi!’ Secret phrase authenticated. You may enter.” Leviathan unlocked the door and revealed himself. He wore a grave expression as he nodded and continued, “Welcome to Castle Leviathan.”
“Hold on, there’s a final line. ‘And I might just steal your heart, so watch out!’ There!” She laughed, stood on her tiptoes, and gave him a kiss on the cheek as a greeting. “Hi, Levi. I missed you.”
Leviathan froze, the brief brush of her lips causing his skin to redden, but he shook his head and intercepted her entrance with his body when she moved to enter the room. “Where are those gifts you speak of?”
“Oh, my apologies.” She chuckled and cleared her throat, showing him the packages she was carrying with her two hands. “I present to you… Spicy Rainbow Pizza and Café Lament’s Bufo Egg Milk Tea!”
“OMG! Sweet! I was just getting hungry,” he enthused but regained his composure in a second. After shifting his facial expression and tone of voice back into serious mode, he continued, “I mean, your humble offerings are most appreciated.”
With the first phase of her plan successful, she entered Leviathan’s room, one of the most unique living spaces she has ever visited. An eclectic assortment of posters and merchandise of Ruri-chan and Sucre Frenzy decorating the walls and shelves welcomed her inside. A bathtub served as his bed, which she found odd during the first time she noticed it. The gigantic aquariums inside reminded her of oceanariums in the human world. The floor was cluttered with a few empty sports drink bottles and the like, but everything else he prized—from his books, manga, CDs, anime figurines—were organized in their rightful areas.
Light radiated from his computer screens as Leviathan made his way to the nearby table and set the pizza box down. He poked the straw through the cap of the Bufo Egg Milk Tea, grabbed a slice from the box, and strode to the direction of his computer while indulging in his snacks. In a good mood, he plopped down on his gaming chair and spun it in the opposite direction of his set-up.
Meanwhile, she had gone to the fishbowl where Leviathan’s beloved goldfish took his residence. “How are you doing, Henry?”
Henry circled the space, leaving bubbles in his wake, and bumped onto the glass as if to say hi.
She concluded that things were going swimmingly with Henry and turned to Leviathan. “Have you fed him yet?”
Leviathan observed the interaction with curiosity and finished his slice of pizza, grabbing a sheet of tissue paper from his desk and wiping his hand with it before throwing it into the wastebasket. He took a long sip of his Bufo Egg Milk Tea and replied, “Nope. It’s almost time for his meal, though. Do you wanna do the honors?”
“Sure,” she responded with a smile and took the goldfish food container near the fishbowl. Henry chased after the pellets she sprinkled inside, delighted. Once she was satisfied with the amount of food she had given Henry, she dusted her hands and strode to Leviathan’s direction.
Although they had been in the same position many times before, the moment she sat on his lap, Leviathan looked away and blushed, taking the straw away from his lips and coughing. “Hey! What do you think you’re doing?”
“Nothing…” she answered coyly and turned the gaming chair toward the screen. “So, what were you doing before I got here?”
“Uh, nothing.”
True enough, the screen indicated an open tab on Deviltube, an adorable cat video on pause. She clicked play and watched the clip of a cat kneading its paws against a soft blanket. When it ended, Deviltube offered more cat videos as recommendations, but she found no interest in them at the moment, her gut telling her that it was the right time to broach the subject she had been itching to ask him since yesterday. “By the way, I got invited to a party a few days ago. It’s going to be in two weeks... Can we please come together?”
“Is that social interaction I hear? No, thanks.”
She pouted and turned to him. “But Levi…”
“Besides, I have to attend something in two weeks as well. Too much social interaction for a shut-in like me is unhealthy.”
“Aww, okay.” She let out a dramatic sigh and revealed her trump card. “I guess I’ll have to extend an invitation to someone else to be my plus-one, after all… because the Grand Admiral refused to be my date on the anniversary of the Hell’s Navy.”
There was a moment of silence as he put two and two together. “What the—? Let me guess, you received an invitation from Lord Diavolo?”
“Yeah,” she replied. “He was the one who told me I can bring a plus-one.”
“I can, too, but I didn’t think you’d be interested.” Leviathan averted his eyes and took another sip of his drink. “It’s not a super big deal, you know? And it can get kinda boring. Like, really boring.”
“I’m definitely interested. I already said that I’d go, so… do you wanna go together?”
“You really mean that? Um, like a date?”
“That’s right!”
“Ugh, fine...” he sighed in resignation, the blush coloring his face growing fiercer. “It’s not like I wanna go or anything—I have to, either way. Don’t say I didn’t warn you about how boring it is, okay?”
“Yay!” She threw her arms around him, making him yelp. “If the event ends early, let’s go home right away and check out the newest update of Mononoke Land. Just the two of us.”
Though caught off-guard, his hand that had been resting on the armrest snaked around the curve of her waist to pull her closer. He shook his head. “I should’ve known you were up to something the moment you walked in with those snacks. I can’t believe I fell for your normie tactics.”
Mission accomplished! “Normie - 1, Leviachan - 0.”
“I’ll get you next time!”
“Best of luck with that,” she replied and blinked at him suggestively. “Now, how about we watch something more... interesting?”
Alarm and anticipation caused his eyes to widen and flicker from her face to the screen, his throat bobbing as he gulped. “Huh? L-Like what?”
“Hmm…” She turned away from him, clicked on the search bar, and pressed a certain letter on the keyboard: H.
Leviathan’s lips parted to say something, yet even the sound of the letter, its implications and all, failed to escape from them.
She leaned in and whispered in his ear, “That’s right, Levi. It begins with the letter H, do you know what it is?”
The tip of his tongue darted to wet his lips, and his fingers stiffened around his drink, slightly tremulous. A silent groan escaped his mouth as he fidgeted in his seat and halted the movement a second after, becoming extremely conscious that she was perched on his lap. With the space between them close to none, she could feel every detail of the rising tension in his body. Between ragged breaths, he murmured, “Y-Yes…”
Victoriously, she smiled and leaned back, turning away to finish typing the rest of the title while announcing it to him, “Harrison Porter and the World of Wizards!”
Tumblr media
The anniversary celebration of the Hell’s Navy would be held at the Demon Lord’s Castle. Being the only two humans currently in the Devildom, Diavolo decided that it would be great as part of the cultural exchange to introduce her and Solomon to a branch of the Devildom’s military. According to the invitation, the Hell’s Navy would be presenting its newest members which not only included demons but also sea monsters joining the fleet in its endeavors. Everyone invited was instructed to adhere to the nautical dress code, and so the day after she convinced Leviathan to be her date, she visited Majolish and searched for something suitable for the event.
After making final adjustments to her ensemble, she stared at her reflection in the mirror, happy that she was able to find something in line with the theme. Her navy blue dress sported a sailor collar, a white necktie, and a skirt adorned with two stripes at the bottom. On top of her head, a matching sailor hat rested while her footwear consisted of plain white ankle boots.
Satisfied, she sent Leviathan a text message to inform him that she would be making a stop at his room. When she received a reply that he would leave his door unlocked for her, she opened her bedroom door and peeked outside, not wanting to risk running into the other brothers in the hallway. As silly as it was, she wanted Leviathan to be the first one to see her in this outfit. The coast was clear. She stealthily made her way to Leviathan’s room, knocked, and entered, making sure to shut the door as quickly as she could.
Leviathan stood near his closet, facing away from her. She figured out that her entrance had gone unnoticed as he continued fumbling over his sleeve and adjusting his collar.
“This could’ve been the perfect time to show off my skills and cosplay a sea spirit from Mononoke Land, but no, I have to be in this uniform,” he whispered to himself and sighed. “Henry’s going to be there with the other sea monsters. I’m so proud of him… I wish Lotan was present as well. He’d have so much fun…”
“Levi?” she called.
“Oh, hey,” he said and turned around, the words dying in his throat as he took in her appearance. “You’re… here…”
The sight of Leviathan in his Hell’s Navy uniform rendered her speechless. Even though he has yet to wear his cap and gloves, he looked entirely formal and professional, a stark contrast to the image of him she viewed every day. His uniform suited him, and he looked stunning. Her heart hammering in her chest at the heat of his gaze, she gave him a twirl and asked him with a nervous smile, “Ta-da! Is it okay?”
For a while, he didn’t speak. He only gave her a wide-eyed stare before blurting out, “Are you… real?”
“Huh? Of course, I am.”
“3D…?”
“Um, yes.”
He gulped. “If you’re telling the truth, what was the item you borrowed from me after we made a pact?”
“What’s with the pop quiz?” she fired back. “Anyway, it was the cursed vinyl edition of The Tale of the Seven Lords soundtrack. How could I forget?”
“Easy enough,” he said. “How about this? Do you remember the first phone call we had?”
“Yeah, I do. You told me that you dialed the wrong number, right?”
His cheeks pinked. “I didn’t just tell you that—I actually did, okay? Who was I trying to call, then?”
“Ultrawitch✩Rainbow-chan. Luminous-chan.”
“That’s right.” He nodded. “What was the last movie we watched together when we were in this room?”
“The one which begins with the letter H,” she responded with an amused giggle, remembering the way he squirmed in his seat. “Harrison Porter and the World of Wizards. Seriously, Levi, what is going on?”
“WHOA! It really IS you,” he confirmed enthusiastically. “I can only imagine you doing all the magical girl transformation poses! I... I never thought—I mean, okay, yeah, I’ve thought about it—but I never thought the day would come when my fantasy would turn into reality… I can’t even look—it’s too much for my heart to take! I-I think I’m going to have a heart attack!”
Sure, Leviathan adored two-dimensional girls dressed in schoolgirl uniforms which were mostly in the style of a sailor’s, but what she wore right now wasn’t that; this was as close as she could get to the human world’s navy uniform which, from the details of Leviathan’s current attire, was similar to the Devildom’s. “So, it’s alright? You like it?”
“Do I like it? I love it! Of course, I love it…” He blushed and averted his gaze with a frown. “Those other guys in the navy, they’re going to approach you like a school of fish… I can’t have that… but how am I going to keep you in sight and stay away from you at the same time?”
She took a moment to process what he said and cocked her head in confusion. “Huh? What are you talking about? Why would you do that?”
“Look at me! Look at you! You’re so cute and perfect… I’m just a gross and icky shut-in otaku with zero social skills. I’m not worthy to stand beside you…”
“What? No!”
“Why did I have to be like this? A loser! It’s so not fair!” he cried out and covered his face with his hands, his shoulders slumped in sadness, on the verge of bursting into tears.
Self-deprecation rolled off him in waves, and though the declaration he made about himself was the most ridiculous thing she has ever heard, she understood where he was coming from. This was Leviathan, after all. A lot of times, he didn’t give himself enough credit. He was unaware of it, but he was popular with the Devildom community, especially to the succubi. There was an instance when Mammon sneaked a photo of a freshly bathed Leviathan coming out of the shower and sold it online, much to the succubi’s delight. Too bad for them, though, she was already dating him.
“Levi.”
“Maybe it’s better for me not to go…”
“Levi.”
“I guess I can try to fake sickness or something…”
“Leviathan.”
The resolute tone of her voice as she called him by his full name drew his attention. He removed his hands from his face, turned his gaze on her for a second with difficulty, and looked away again. “Um, what?”
“Change into your demon form.”
“Huh? But why…?”
“Do it, please.”
“O-Okay… If you say so…”
Leviathan shifted into his demon form. Her footsteps echoed through the silence as she made her way to him, and though he still refused to look at her, she didn’t hesitate and wrapped him in her embrace. “I didn’t slip and hug you by accident, just so you know.”
It took him by surprise, but he held his tears back and sniffled, placing his arms around her waist in return. The calming fragrance of the sea enveloped her, making her close her eyes and sigh contentedly.
They remained in the same position until, slowly, she led them to the giant aquarium that served as a wall in his room. Her back turned from the glass, she stood on her tiptoes, skimmed his horn soothingly with a fingertip, and whispered in his ear, “Do you see that? Look at him… That’s Leviathan, the Avatar of Envy, one of the Seven Rulers of Hell, one of the most powerful demons in the Devildom.”
She kissed the visible markings on his neck one by one and lingered her lips on his collarbone, waiting for the tension caused by his moment of insecurity to alleviate, even fractionally. Once he calmed down, she looked behind her and found him staring at their reflection, a sense of shyness and wonder within his gaze. Determined, she faced him again and tugged his sleeve. “Will you change back for me, please?”
Wordlessly, he did as she requested. Light surrounded his body for a second, and he returned into his human-like form, still staring at their figures on the glass, entranced.
“And, right there, is no ordinary demon. That’s Leviathan, the Grand Admiral of the Hell’s Navy, the one who wields power over a multitude of sea monsters.” Softly, she traced the badges embroidered on his uniform, the pins indicating his rank and power, and the stripes on his sleeves. She took his hands in hers and squeezed them before continuing, “Anyone would be jealous of whoever is standing beside him. In fact, am I—a human and a normie at that—worthy of being his date?”
His eyes flitted from their reflection to her face, worry making his brows furrow. He grabbed her by the shoulders and answered without an ounce of hesitation, “Of course, you are! There’s no one else who can keep up with me as you do... You’re my True Friend as well as... m-my… g-g-girlfriend! You’re the only one for me!”
This was supposed to be her reminding him of his worth, but how the tides had turned. Overcome with deep affection for him, her eyes watered, but she blinked her tears away with a serene smile and touched his cheek. “And this… This is Leviathan: an otaku, a gamer, the biggest TSL nerd there is, a Ruri-chan and Sucre Frenzy fanboy—he’s passionate about many things. On top of it all, he’s so handsome and amazing… but he doesn’t seem to know that. Not on my watch, though, I’ll remind him of those as many times as I have to.”
“Why are you telling me these?”
“Because they’re true,” she told him. “All of those incredible qualities, they’re you, Levi, and I love you.”
He buried his face on her shoulder, his voice muffled as he replied, “I love you, too.”
She chuckled and gently nudged him, loosening herself from his embrace and facing forward. Hand in hand, the two of them stared at their reflection contrasted by the aquamarine water beyond the glass. “See? We look perfect for each other, don’t we? Actually, scratch that, we are perfect for each other, aren’t we?”
“Yes… Yes, we are,” Leviathan agreed with a bashful nod and turned to her. “GAH! How do you always know just what to say? What are you doing to me?”
“It’s one of my normie tactics, nothing new about that.” She laughed and expected him to tease her about being a normie like he always did.
Instead, he stared at her seriously and exclaimed, “I can’t take it anymore!”
“What do you mean?”
“How could you show up looking so cute, say cute things like those, and expect me not to get all… UGH!”
The next thing she knew, her back leaned against the cool glass, her hat falling to the floor at the suddenness of the motion. A faint thud resounded from Leviathan’s hands as he placed them beside her head. He bent down and captured her lips in a hungry kiss, shifting closer to her until she was flush against his torso—until they could feel the warmth emanating from each other’s bodies. His tongue lapped at the seam of her lips and slid inside, meeting hers and exploring her mouth. The rapid succession of events caused her mind to go hazy, but she found her bearings and reciprocated his advances eagerly, the desire for him thrumming through her body in clarity.
When they parted to breathe, she bent her leg upward to confirm her suspicion. “You… Are you excited right now?”
“Yeah, totally. So, you’ve noticed.” He hovered over her throat, softly kissed the sensitive skin, and pressed his forehead on the crook of her neck. “I can’t help it. Is it okay if I… I-I mean, can we…?”
She swallowed hard and brushed his hair with her fingers. “Of course, Levi. I’m all yours.”
He lifted his head and met her gaze. “All mine...”
“But we have to be quick about it, okay? We can’t have you being late.”
She grasped Leviathan’s shoulders, tilted her head, and initiated the kiss this time. It started as a tender brushing of their lips and turned into deep, lingering caresses as he responded heatedly, neither of them requiring any form of coaxing. While one of his hands moved to cup her cheek, the other grazed her shoulder and made its way downward, fondling her breast along the way and making her moan. He teased the hem of her skirt and slowly made his way underneath it, stroking her thighs and squeezing lightly at the flesh. Groans fell past his lips in between kisses, his hand wandering dangerously close to the apex of her thighs. In a surge of boldness, he cupped her sex and hooked the fabric covering it aside. She leaned back with her eyes closed and parted her legs to give him further access, the back of her head resting against the glass. Her breath hitched, and her body quivered as he began teasing her entrance, the pad of his thumb stroking her clit before his forefinger glided in and out of her in shallow and languid motions, providing relief to the aching emptiness inside of her.
“That feels so good, Levi,” she murmured and moaned. He stared as he added another finger, eager to memorize every detail of her reaction. She admired the way the light and reflection of the water from the aquarium illuminated his face and whispered, “You’re the only one who can make me feel this way.”
“R-Really?”
“Really.” She captured his lips in a quick kiss. “Only you, Levi. Only you.”
The expression on her face, the pleasured noises coming from her lips, and the way she bit back another moan led his ministrations to grow more frenzied by the second, his dexterous fingers plunging in and out of her entrance relentlessly. Eager to please him in the same way, her hand shifted from clutching his shoulder to seeking the button and fly of his pants. She tugged on his waistband and slipped her hand inside. Fingers closing around his stiffening length, she released him from the confines of his underwear and stroked him from base to tip.
“Ah, fuck,” Leviathan hissed and grit his teeth. He pressed his forehead on hers and shut his eyes, the steady pace of his fingers growing erratic as hers found her rhythm. Despite this, her legs grew unsteady, and her knees threatened to buckle, her climax in reach. This didn’t escape him, and he responded to her need by pumping his digits in and out of her entrance frantically, determined to make her come undone.
“Open your eyes, Levi,” she breathed. “Look what you do to me.”
Leviathan’s eyes fluttered open and watched as the pleasure building up in her abdomen uncoiled. Her body trembled, and her muscles clenched around his fingers as he let her ride out her climax. Warm puffs of her breath teased the skin underneath the fabric of his uniform as she collapsed against him and panted.
He withdrew his fingers from her folds, and with his other hand, he grabbed her wrist and released his length from her grasp. Firmly, he wrapped her arms around his neck and slid a palm down to her thigh, hooking her leg around his waist. The head of his cock brushed her clit, and she shuddered, still sensitive from her previous climax. “I’m going to put it in, okay? I wanna see that expression on your face again, the one when you come for me.”
Still breathing heavily, she nodded against him and said, “Y-Yes.”
He eased himself inside her, stilling halfway through to allow her to adjust to him. To his astonishment and gratification, it was she who inclined her hips and took all of him the next second, impatient. Inhaling sharply, he unsheathed himself and pushed inside her again, searching for any discomfort on her end but finding nothing.
“Faster,” she urged.
Leviathan was more than happy to oblige. One of his hands gripped her hip while the other clutched the leg around his waist, holding her steady as he sank inside her in one fluid motion, the movement followed by a series of equally desperate thrusts. The strands of his hair swayed at the swiftness and steadiness of the pounding of his hips. Her fingers carded through his hair and nudged his head down, connecting her lips to his in a feverish kiss. Leviathan poured his need for her through every stroke of his tongue and only broke away once he sensed her tensing, her walls squeezing around his length.
The heat of his embrace, the need in his voice as he groaned in pleasure, the feeling of him inside her—at that moment, everything in her world revolved around Leviathan. Although she had climaxed only moments ago, it didn’t take long for her back to arch and for tremors to ripple all over her body again. A thin sheen of sweat coated her forehead, her eyebrows knit in pleasure, and she closed her eyes and parted her lips, her voice echoing across the room as she cried out, “Levi!”
As she drowned in bliss, he continued thrusting into her, chasing the powerful current of pleasure sweeping over every part of his body. He chanted her name in the same way she did with his, his cock throbbing inside her with his release.
Leviathan’s breathing came out in heavy huffs, exhausted. Still, he stood and held her, his tone laced with concern as he murmured, “Your dress… I ruined it, didn’t I? Sorry.”
Aside from the skirt of her dress being a little rumpled, her attire looked fine. It was nothing compared to the happiness that bubbled in her heart at that moment. She shook her head with a shy smile. “No, you didn’t. Definitely not.”
“Oh, okay…” After a moment of hesitation, he continued, “It was good for you, too, right? Because it was, for me.”
She nodded with a laugh. Dressing up was always fun with Leviathan, and needless to say, she loved it as much as he did. “Of course, it was. In fact, I think we should try that again sometime… and you know, do more.”
“So do I.” A spark of excitement laced his tone as he suggested, “Like, later?”
“Later.”
Tumblr media
After making themselves presentable again, Leviathan accompanied her to her bedroom where she remedied the rumpled state of her dress. True to her assurance that everything was fine, the matter required a few minutes, and then, her outfit was as good as new. A while ago, on the way out of his room, she had almost forgotten to bring her hat, but to her surprise, Leviathan already picked it up and held it out to her. That made her smile. She set her hat back on her head, turned from the mirror, and began making her way to Leviathan, who was sitting on the sofa and fiddling with his D.D.D.. As she opened her mouth to ask him if he was ready to leave, a thought struck her and made her stop in her tracks. She strode to her desk and rummaged inside her school backpack. “I can’t believe I almost forgot!”
“Forgot what?” Leviathan lifted his head and watched her with interest.
She waltzed to his direction, sat beside him, and handed him a tiny box. “Here’s a little gift. Happy anniversary to the Hell’s Navy!”
“F-For me?”
“Yes.”
Leviathan opened the box, starry-eyed at the unexpected item inside: a metallic goldfish pin resting on the velvet cushion. “NO WAY? IT’S HENRY?”
“Yes! Isn’t he cute? I have one, too. See?” She outstretched her hand and showed him an identical goldfish pin in the hollow of her palm. On the day when she went shopping for an outfit in Majolish, she happened to pass by an accessories boutique that offered customized items. As soon as she could, she entered the establishment and placed an order with the thought that it would be right up Leviathan’s alley. She was worried that her gift wouldn’t make it in time, but fortunately, she was able to pick up her order yesterday. From the joyful look on his face right now, it was worth the wait.
“Whoa! It’s like Henry fan merch!” he said excitedly. Without preamble, he placed the Henry pin in its rightful spot next to his badges. “T-Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.”
“You should wear yours, too,” he told her. “Here, I’ll put it.”
“Okay,” she replied and handed him the pin.
Leviathan placed it on the fabric of her tie and leaned backward to have a better look, blushing at the realization. “Huh. We match.”
“We do.”
He paused, contemplating on something. With a genuine, earnest look on his face, he said, “I have something to tell you.”
“What is it?”
“I love you more than anyone else in the world.”
His statement reminded her of a fond memory when Belphegor sent those exact words as a message for her using Leviathan’s phone. She had to admit that it was nice hearing it in person, and even nicer that she knew the words truly came from him this time. She stifled a laugh and teased, “Hey, is that supposed to be cheesy or funny?”
He covered his face with his hands, embarrassed. “I tried, okay? Come to think of it, I sounded like a normie. Yikes.”
“That’s okay.” She removed his hands from his face and looked him in the eyes. “I love you more than anyone else in the three worlds.”
“Ugh… Must you really one-up me every single time?”
“Normie - 100, Leviachan - 0.” She smiled and stood, righting her hat that had become askew before holding out a hand for him to take. “You ready?”
“Yep.” Leviathan nodded and took her hand in his. “Let’s go!”
And so, together, like two ships sailing across the vast and endless seas, another adventure awaited them.

The Ink Demonth - Day 30 - Hope
Growing Hope
A/N: I spent forever debating what I would do for this day, but my brain just kept coming back to the Fallout AU. I know I did a lot of drabbles for AUs this year, but as much as I adore batim, these AUs hold a special place in my heart. They’ve kept my love for this series alive and through them I’ve met so many amazing people. So thanks for putting up with all my AU love, and I hope you enjoy this piece too. For the Fallout AU, Henry belongs to @doberart and Harrison belongs to @inkspottie and thank you all for a fantastic Ink Demonth.
Henry was tired. He could feel it seeping into his bones, making his body ache. But he couldn’t stop now. He just had to press on.
His two companions seemed unaffected by the long days walking through the barren wasteland. Henry didn’t know if Bendy could feel tired, seeing as he was a being made of ink and radiation. He seemed to have endless energy, either chatting away, ideally whistling to himself, or looking around curiously, inspecting burnt out cars and broken highway overpasses. And as a synth, Harrison had far more energy than Henry ever could. The robot could walk for miles and miles without a break, all the while the twinge in Henry’s leg just got worse and worse.
“Did you need a break, Henry?” Harrison turned back to look at Henry, noticing the limp in his stride.
“Yeah, you’re walking kinda slow there old man, did ya need to sit down?” Bendy asked, looking up Henry with concern.
“No, I’m fine. Don’t worry about me,” Henry tried to wave off their concerns, but it was clear from the sag of his shoulders just how exhausted he was. “Let’s keep going.”
“You shouldn’t push yourself so hard, Henry,” Harrison cautioned, looking concerned. “We don’t mind resting for a bit.”
“No, I’d… I’d rather keep going. Please,” Henry insisted, sounding a bit pained as he said it. He had to keep going. Joey had his wife. Linda. He’d seen Joey and his men take her, when he’d briefly woken up in his cryo-chamber before being forced back into stasis. And who knew what he had planned for her. He had to find her. There was simply no other option. He didn’t know what he would do if he lost Linda. His heart already ached more and more with each day he spent without her and he didn’t think he could take anymore.
“Henry,” Harrison put a hand on Henry’s shoulder. “I know… I know you want to find Linda but… she wouldn’t want you to do this to yourself. You’re no help to her if you push yourself to exhaustion.”
“Yeah, Henry,” Bendy agreed. “Ya can’t help anyone if you’re dead on your feet.”
Henry sighed, looking tiredly out at the horizon. It pained him to admit it but… they had a point. He just didn’t know what pain was worse, the pain in his legs or the pain in his heart.
“Alright,” he finally gave in. “Just for a little bit though.”
Harrison smiled at him as they set off to find a good place to rest. The three of them ended up settling down near a rusting pickup truck, Henry sitting on the back. Bendy had taken a seat next to him, kicking his legs back and forth, while Harrison had gone off looking for any supplies he could scrounge up.
The old man sipped at his canteen as he stared out at the landscape. It still shocked him sometimes just how… lifeless everything was. Hardly any green in sight, nothing but dead plants, rusting cars, broken roads and rotting buildings.
Sometimes, as they were traveling, Henry would recognize some of the landmarks. Seeing the places he once knew, once so full of life and beauty, reduced to nothing but ruins, shook him to the core. It was hard to comprehend sometimes, that everything he knew was just gone. The world he knew, his home, his neighborhood, the people he would pass by on the street everyday, it was all gone. And for what? What was the reason for all this destruction? Whatever the reason was, there was no way it could justify this kind of outcome. The end of everything.
“You doing alright, Henry?” Bendy asked, peering up at him. “You’re looking kinda gloomy.”
“I’ll be okay, Bendy,” Henry assured him, rubbing the devil between the horns. “It’s just… it’s a lot to take in. Even now.”
“I guess that makes sense,” Bendy supposed, looking out at the wasteland too. “I guess… I don’t know any different, so it doesn't make me as sad.”
“It’s alright. I just… I wish you could have seen what this was like before,” Henry sighed as Bendy leaned up against him, the older man’s eyes getting a little misty. “The world used to be such a beautiful place.”
“I bet it was,” Bendy murmured as he snuggled up to Henry.
“Henry! Bendy!”
The two turned around to see Harrison jogging up to them, the biggest smile on his face.
“You two have to come see this!” he told them, pointing excitedly to where he’d been.
“Oh? What’d you find?” Henry asked as he slid off the back of the truck, Bendy hopping down next to him.
“You just have to come see. Trust me, it will be worth it,” Harrison said, beckoning them to follow him. Henry and Bendy gave each other confused looks but followed the synth past some more cars and dead trees. Henry didn’t know why Harrison wouldn’t explain himself but he had him intrigued. The three of them climbed up a fairly large hill, Harrison helping Henry a bit as the steepness made it hard on his leg. Once they reached the top though, Henry looked over onto the other side and gasped.
There was… life down there. The most green Henry had seen since he woke up in the vault. At the bottom of the hill, green grass had managed to poke up through the rubble, and wildflowers scattered the area. There was even a single, living tree, it’s branches budding with new leaves. It wasn’t anything to write home about, just a small patch of green among a sea of fading greys and rusty reds, but it was something.
“Wow,” Bendy stared down with wonder in his eyes, his mouth gaping open. “It’s so… pretty.”
“Isn’t it?” Harrison beamed over at the two of them. “I know we haven't run into many, but I’ve seen a few spots like this. Slowly but surely… life is coming back.” The synth looked over at Henry, who was still struck silent by the sight. “So… what do you think, Henry?”
“I... it’s…” Henry could feel himself tearing up. “It’s amazing, Harrison. I… I can hardly believe my own eyes.”
Harrison’s eyes widened as he saw Henry wipe away a stray tear. “Oh no, are you okay?” he asked worriedly. “I… I wanted to show you this to cheer you up, not make you sad.”
“No, no,” Henry reassured him, a smile stretching across his face. “These… these are happy tears. I just… never thought I’d see something like this again. Seeing this… it… it gives me hope.” Henry reached over and grasped onto Harrison’s shoulder. “Thank you, Harrison. For showing us this.”
“You’re welcome,” Harrison returned Henry’s smile, before they both turned their gaze back to the green below them.
“Did the whole world use to be like this, Henry?” Bendy asked, looking up at the old man.
“A lot of it, yeah,” Henry told him. “The world… used to be full of so much green.”
And as Bendy went down for a closer look, and Harrison gathered some medicinal herbs, Henry sat himself down, feeling the cool breeze on his face as the future started to seem a little brighter.

PARENTS+ BACKGROUND : HYUN - JOON.
Tumblr media
TW : transphobia , homophobia , teen / minor abuse , graphic violence . there’s some pretty triggering stuff in here so please be cautious when you read , especially if you’re trans like me.
your parents are supposed to be the first people you’re able to trust in the world. they’re the first people your eyes lay upon , the first people who touch you & vise versa , the first people to LOVE YOU. you come into this world , knowing nothing other than your mother’s skin , your mother’s breath , your mother’s voice. your father is meant to protect you , to show you how to survive in this world & be the best version of yourself you can be. that’s why they’re your PARENTS.
when hyuna - kim was brought into this world , her parents , bae - cho & kun - woon couldn’t have been happier ; her mother especially , at the thought of being able to raise a sweet little baby girl to be just like her. her father would dote & dote , buy her the cutest little dresses & bows & have tea parties with her from afternoon to dinner time. they had planned the perfect childhood to raise their precious daughter. hyuna - kim seemed to have it all. perfect , loving parents , that gave her anything she wished for , on the second she wished for it. being an only child , her parents time & money was always granted to her , spent on her & with her ; hyuna - kim was their world.
so , with that in mind , you would assume that would reign true as she grew older , saw more of the world & was beginning to discover her true self. for awhile , hyuna’s parents did still think of her as the world. but once she entered middle school , that was when hyuna began to see the world & herself a little differently. the way that hyuna’s body developed. . . she didn’t feel as happy about it as the other girls in her class. she began to try hiding her body as much as possible , opting out of the cute , trendy clothes her mother would buy her & instead wear layers , hoodies & pants that were a size too big on her. at first , bae - cho didn’t read too much into it -- maybe a boy at school had started to pick at her because he noticed hyuna as a woman. but as time passed & hyuna graduated from seventh to eighth grade , the “phase” that bae - cho hoped she would grow out of only seemed to strengthen.
at the start of her eighth grade year , hyuna chopped all of her hair off to a short pixie cut. she bought more muted clothes & androgynous clothing with the money she’d receive on holidays & her birthday , since her mother warned her that if she stopped wearing the clothes she bought , she wouldn’t spend her money on ANY clothes hyuna wanted. eventually , hyuna became completely dependent on any money that was given to her when she needed new clothing & if she didn’t have any , she’d wear the same thing in a row for days , if only to avoid wearing the extremely feminine pieces from her mother. of course , this worried bae - cho even more & started to concern kun - woon as well.
after graduating to high school , hyuna’s relationship with her parents was disintegrating bit by bit. they wouldn’t welcome her home from school anymore , often ignoring her presence entirely or making snide comments under their breath like “look at her. she looks like a damn boy. it’s hideous.” these comments never fell on deaf ears. school was the only place that hyuna could find some semblance of peace & freedom to express herself. she told her class that she preferred male pronouns & wanted to be addressed up the name HYUN - JOON. there were always going to be those who didn’t understand or weren’t willing to , but for the most part , hyun - joon was accepted by his peers. it wasn’t until hyun - joon’s junior year of high school , that he finally decided to stand up to his parents & explain his feelings. it took every iota of strength & courage he had to tell his parents that was trans & that he wanted to look into options for medical transition. everything was silent for a few moments after that. awkward , terrifying silence. . . until hyun - joon’s fears had become fully realized.
he wakes up on the floor of the living room. his head is spinning , every inch of his face & arms are stinging & something viscous & wet had a small trail down his temple. after looking around , he doesn’t see his parents , but it only takes him a moment , after he fully comes to , to remember what happened. tears immediately splash upon his knees as the horrible memory comes back of his father beating him , his mother behind him sobbing as though hyun - joon has DEVASTATED her. picking himself up with what little strength he had left , hyun - joon dragged himself upstairs to his shower to clean himself off & cried for hours.
that , unfortunately , wasn’t the end of his parents’ rage & disappointment in him. for the six months , they absolutely terrorized hyun - joon. bae - cho destroyed any clothes she could get her hands on that were remotely androgynous or “not feminine enough” , even the ones hyun - joon has bought or worked hard to obtain. his father steered clear of him as much as he could , because every time he saw him , there was an animosity in his eyes that made hyun - joon’s blood run cold & there were even times kun - woon would hit him , strike him , throw something at him ; anything to make hyun - joon run away from him. they made their son’s life a complete hell. yet & still , the only solace hyun - joon could find , was when he was at school. he would often have to cover up the bruises , gashes & open wounds from his father with makeup or layers & when his friends & peers would ask if he was alright , he’d just flash them a smile & lie through his teeth.
but ezekiel cochran ended up knowing better than that. he was a vet tech at a well known & prestigious animal hospital in los angeles & he was visiting hyun - joon’s high school to explain a program that his hospital was doing that allowed teens with plans to graduate & take on a degree in the veterinary field , a chance to internship with the hospital & get a jumpstart on their experience. this immediately piqued hyun - joon’s interest , as that was exactly what he wanted to study once he graduated high school. after approaching ezekiel for details , the two hit off quite well & exchanged numbers to keep in contact about the program. soon enough , the duo became friends & ezekiel decided to sponser hyun - joon for the internship ; the catch? he needed to meet hyun - joon’s parents to discuss the program & get their permission to move forward. as much as hyun - joon was terrified of this meeting , but knew that if he wanted this , then it needed to happen.
the air was tense & uncomfortable the moment when ezekiel came over to meet his parents. the way they looked at hyun - joon was cynical & callous & even while talking with ezekiel , they were dismissive & uninterested. he knew instantly that he didn’t like these two & that there was something seriously wrong going on there. hyun - joon already knew that his parents weren’t going to give ezekiel the time of day & what little hope he had of getting one step closer to his dream career , was crushed. after ezekiel left , later that night , hyun - joon’s father cornered him in his bedroom , screaming at him about ezekiel , calling him a liar & accusing him & ezekiel of dating. hyun - joon would’ve tried to explain himself , but he knew that his father wasn’t listening & hadn’t been listening to him or ezekiel all day. . so he shut up & let it happen , so that this punishment would at least be over with. knowing damn well something needed to be done , ezekiel took it upon himself to talk with dr. avery harrison , the lead veterinary surgeon at the hospital & final decision maker of who was awarded the internship. ezekiel told him of his concerns & the reason why he was sponsoring hyun - joon. at first , avery didn’t speak much on the topic , but after a little more convincing from ezekiel to meet hyun - joon & his parents himself , avery agreed.
hyun - joon was , genuinely , completely shocked to not only hear back from ezekiel throughout the week , but to also be told that the doctor who would decide who was getting the internship , wanted to speak with him personally. it both excited him & broke his heart. he knew his parents weren’t going to let him do this internship , even if he won it. but zeke managed to assure hyun - joon that he should definitely talk to avery. a zoom session was then set up for friday evening. hyun - joon’s mood has increased exponentially during the week he was waiting for the zoom session with avery , but his anxiety was also just as high. he almost didn’t want to allow himself to hope for the best , because he was so very used to the opposite. finally , finally , FINALLY , friday was here.
the first thing hyun - joon noticed about avery when the session started & he saw the doctor for the first time , was how handsome & strict he looked. his voice was just as steady & proper & after a round of introductions , he began asking hyun - joon some questions about himself , his family & what he already knew about animals & why he wanted a career in the veterinary industry ; of course , hyun - joon answered with full honesty. & as the young student spoke , avery understood why ezekiel recommended this boy to him. he held a huge passion for helping animals & helping others. he spoke so kindly of the world around him & there was never a shred of doubt in his mind about what he wanted to do to help bring positive change to the world of animals. avery wouldn’t have admitted it then , but hyun - joon’s words truly touched him.
unfortunately , that soft moment was abruptly interrupted by hyun - joon’s father , who’d slammed open the door & saw henry on the zoom call with avery. he was totally drunk & it was more than obvious by the way his body was slugging around & his words slurred around. in the flash of a breath , he accused hyun - joon of sleeping around with older men , called him a whore & started moving quickly towards hyun - joon , the flash of knife shining on the side of him. he yelled ‘ if you want to be a boy so fucking bad , i’ll chop your chest off for you right there! i’m not paying for any fucking surgery! ‘ hyun - joon screamed , knocked over his laptop & everything on avery’s side went dark. within seconds , avery was in his car , pulling up hyun - joon’s address on the application he had filled out for the internship & racing that way.
avery probably sped past every red light he could to make it to that house before the unthinkable happened. he burst open the front door , ran upstairs & the first thing he did was deliver a punch so hard kun - woon’s face , he probably knocked a few bones loose & made sure he was out before he checked on hyun - joon. bae - cho had already called an ambulance , sobbing her guts out as if she were any less innocent in this mess. the paramedics arrived within minutes , took hyun - joon on a stretcher & off to the hospital. as avery watched him go , he prayed. he prayed & prayed that hyun - joon would be okay. he told god that the world needed someone like him. he wanted to protect him , from now on.
he didn’t wake up for 3 days. he’d gone in under critical condition & every single day , from the time he woke up , to the time he’d go to work & then clock out , avery would be there , by his side , waiting. ezekiel would be there just as much & had bought an array of gifts & flowers each day , hoping hyun - joon would open those eyes.  it wasn’t until the end of the fourth day , right as things were beginning to look truly bleak , that hyun - joon opened his eyes & gave avery the saddest , most tired smile he’d ever seen. it made his heart clench , but before he had a chance to say anything , ezekiel had come through the door & once he noticed hyun - joon was awake , tears rolled down his cheeks & he smiled so wide. they welcomed him back to the world & that’s when hyun - joon also began to cry.
                                               ‘ thank you. ‘

The General’s Daughter Chapter 3
Tumblr media
Title: The General’s Daughter Chapter 3
Summary:  Stevie Holstead was enjoying her time at a hospital in Seoul. She was there with friends, even with the ever-watching eyes of her father watching her. That was until Margaret Houlihan decided she needed help with the nurses. Now Stevie is heading to the 4077th, and a whole lot of adventure that she never thought she would see in her lifetime.
Series Warnings: Language, violence, war themes, later attempted non-con, sexual themes, later sexual scene, crude humor, and more that might come to mind later on.
AN: Thank you so much to everyone who read chapter 2! I really appreciate it! I would also like to thank @piratewithvigor for being my beta and listening to my insane ideas. Also, I want to go ahead and add that I have decided that this verse is “it’s okay to be gay”. Screw homophobic 1950s.
Taglist: @traceyaudette
Henry was sitting at a table in the mess tent with Margaret and Frank when Stevie walked in, feeling more refreshed than she had a few hours ago. She got her food and was about to find herself a place to sit when she was called over to their table. Part of her wanted to be alone, to just go through the motions until she was called back to Seoul, but another part of her really did want to fit in and enjoy her time at the famous 4077th.
“Majors. Colonel,” Stevie greeted the three as she sat down by Henry.
“How are you liking it so far?” Henry asked, smiling at her.
“It’s a lot different than Seoul,” She returned his smile the best that she could. “But it’s not bad.”
“Not bad, she says,” Henry laughed loudly. Stevie took a sip of her coffee and coughed when the liquid touched her taste buds.
“Woah, that’s like tar,” She shuddered. “Gather some of this and we could have paved roads all throughout here.” The doors to the mess tent opened and Trapper and Hawkeye made their way in. BJ had gotten fed up listening to Hawkeye not crush on Stevie and kicked him out, sending him to annoy Trapper for a little bit while he got some sleep. Trapper was quick to sit down by Stevie, giving Hawkeye a shit eating grin when he glared at the other surgeon. He was forced to sit on the other side of Margaret, refusing to sit by Frank.
“What did we miss?” Trapper asked, making eye contact with Hawkeye as he moved closer to Stevie.
“Stevie discovered real Army coffee,” Margaret explained. “Even though I
thought you would’ve been used to it being from a military family.”
“Well, we were always in fully functioning hospitals and such. They usually had good coffee.” Stevie took a bite of her food and made a disgusted face. “And food.”
“Oh, your dad’s a doctor too?” Frank asked. Stevie nodded while Margaret smiled. Just like most of the higher brass, she knew Samuel Holstead’s track record. And he was one she hadn’t had the opportunity to have a discussion with.
“Does that mean he’s the surgeon general?” Hawkeye asked. Margaret turned to glare at the captain and was about to berate him when Stevie started laughing.
“Oh my! That was good!” Stevie smiled brightly at Hawkeye. “I seriously have never thought of that one before.” Margaret rolled her eyes as Hawkeye leaned across the table.
“I’m Hawkeye. We met earlier but you were tired.” He told her.
“Hawkeye? Like Last of the Mohicans? ” Stevie asked. Trapper could see Hawkeye’s eye light up. He just knew that him and BJ would be subjected to more of his “not crushing” on Stevie in the days to come.
“Exactly,” He smiled at her and Frank groaned.
“Now, don’t you be corrupting her like you did Hunnicutt!” Frank snapped.
“Can’t corrupt the corrupted,” Trapper laughed.  Stevie shook her head and worked on trying to eat the food in front of her. “Even though, I think that the food will kill Ms. Captain here before we have a chance to corrupt her.”
“It’s not the worst food I’ve had,” Stevie explained. “But I’ve been to so many bases over my lifetime, I couldn’t tell you which was the best and worst.” She fiddled with the dog tags around her neck.
“Where is home then?” Hawkeye asked. “If you’ve been to so many places.”
“I was born in Cicero, Indiana, and lived there until dad got settled in the remodeled Fort Benjamin Harrison.”
“I’m from Fort Wayne!” Frank said excitedly. “Wait, where’s Cicero?” Stevie sighed.
“Anyway, we lived in Indiana until I was about one or two I think. I’ve probably been on at least 50 bases over my lifetime. But my favorite was California. The sun, the beach. But that’s all a story for another time.” She smiled and Hawkeye was sure that you could see his heart pounding out of his chest like in those Looney Tunes episodes. “Anyway, Major Houlihan, whenever you want to introduce me to the rest of the nursing team, I’m ready.”
“Don’t you want the rest of your oatmeal?” Trapper asked, poking at a white blob on her tray.
“That’s oatmeal?” Stevie asked. “I thought it was bad powered eggs.”
“Welcome to the 4077th,” Hawkeye laughed. “Where we have 1 star food and the ambient noise of gunfire to lull you to sleep.” Stevie gave him another smile before her and Margaret headed off to see the other nurses.
****
“I’ll have to apologize for Captain Pierce,” Margaret told Stevie as they headed towards the other nurses quarters. “He’s a good surgeon, but too cynical and a little too much of everything else. Especially for a first meeting.”
“He’s fine major,” Stevie smiled fondly. “He reminds me of someone.”
“Oh? A boyfriend back home or something?” Margaret quizzed.
“Not quite. He's a friend who's a boy and we flirt and all, but he's like the brother I never had and always wanted . ” Stevie sighed. “I still miss him a lot. Even though my dad doesn’t like me hanging out with sergeants”
“A sergeant?” Margaret asked.
“Well, I just call him a sergeant. Michael’s actually a sergeant major, but he wants to be a warrant officer so bad,” Margaret watched a sad smile make it’s way on Stevie’s face before she shook her head.
“Well, a sergeant major is almost an officer,” Margaret told her, patting her shoulder. “And a warrant officer is a lot of responsibility.”
“Yeah...” Stevie shook herself out of her homesickness, returning to her cheerful mood. “Come on. I’m ready to meet the girls.” Margaret returned her smile and went to get the nurses so Stevie could meet them.
****
“Earth to Hawkeye,” Henry waved his hand in front of Hawkeye’s face. “Hello.”
“What?” Hawkeye asked, turning his attention to the table in front of him. Radar, Klinger, BJ, Trapper, Henry, and himself were all gathered around the table for their poker game.
“Are you playing or not?” Trapper asked. “Or are you still daydreaming about Captain Holstead?”
“I’m not daydreaming about Stevie,” Hawkeye told them, throwing a couple chips into the pot.
“I had to kick him out because he kept talking about her goofy cute smile,” BJ told the group, causing Hawkeye to shoot a glare his way.
“Oh, it’s just a crush. Once she’s here for a few days, it’ll go away,” Henry told them. “Especially after he adds her notch to his bedpost.”
“What?” Radar asked. Klinger just patted his arm.
“We’ll tell you when you’re older,” Klinger laughed. Radar pulled his arm away.
“I think I’m old enough!” Radar’s voice squeaked a little, making all the guys smile.
“What Henry means is that Hawk will get a roll in the hay with Ms. Captain and then he’ll be back on his normal bullshit,” Trapper explained to Radar. “He’ll be drooling over her replacement when Hot Lips scares her so much that she would rather be at a front line aid station than here.”
“Oh shut up,” Hawkeye shook his head. “Let’s just play cards.” Radar, Klinger, Henry, BJ, and  Trapper all exchanged looks. “What?”
“Nothing,” BJ shook his head. “I’m in.”
****
Attention! Incoming wounded! Let’s do this folks!
Stevie stood in the OR with the other nurses. The corpsmen brought in a wounded soldier for each surgeon. Margaret went to stand by Frank, wanting to stand on the sidelines and see how Captain Holstead handled high paced surgery.
“Captain Holstead, assist Captain McIntyre,” Margaret told her. Stevie nodded and headed over to Trapper.
“Hey there sweetheart,” Trapper smiled at her under his mask. “I’m so glad I get to be your partner for your first dance.”
“I’ve assisted in several surgeries,” Stevie told him. “But this is a first at a MASH.”
“Then I’m glad I can be your first,” Trapper glanced up at Hawkeye, who was glaring.
“You wish Captain,” Stevie was smirking now. Trapper chuckled.
“Can I get some quiet in here?!” Frank yelled.
“Yeah Frank. Quiet,” Hawkeye shot back.
The time in the OR seemed to fly by as Stevie worked with Trapper. She seemed to be channeling her inner Radar, being able to get Trapper what he needed before he even asked her. Eventually, the wounded stopped coming and everyone stripped out of their blood stained scrubs.
“So, how was she?” Margaret pulled Trapper aside to speak to him about Stevie. Captain Holstead was otherwise preoccupied with BJ.
“She was magnificent in every sense of the word,” Trapper told her. “I wouldn’t mind seeing how she could be as a partner in other areas.”
“Oh you pervert!” Frank shook his head.
“I was meaning euchre Frank,” Trapper shook his head. “We have some very dirty minded people in this camp.” He laughed and headed out.
“I’d love to see pictures of her,” Stevie told BJ. She had gotten him talking about Peg and Erin, and he hadn’t been able to stop. “Her and your wife just sound so cute.”
“They are,” BJ nodded. “I’m going to call it a night, but I have plenty of pictures in the Swamp I can show you.”
“I’d love that,” She smiled at him and ran her fingers through her hair. “Well, I’ll see you later. I want to wash some of this blood off before I have Post OP duty.”
“Got you pulling that already?” BJ laughed. “Must have pissed someone off.” He smiled. “Goodnight Stevie.”
“Goodnight BJ,” She waved goodbye to the doctor before turning to scrub at her hands. Hawkeye threw his dirty laundry in the bag to be sanitised before heading over to where Stevie was. Frank and Margaret looked at each other before making their way over as well.
“You did well Captain Holstead,” Margaret complimented her, a rare event that most nurses didn’t get to see. “I hope you keep it up.”
“Yes major. I won’t let you down.” Stevie nodded. “Goodnight.” Margaret smiled before leading Frank out. “So, how long have those two been tangoing?” Stevie asked Hawkeye, not even looking up at him.
“That obvious?” Hawkeye asked, leaning up against the wall to watch her.
“Reminds me of some of the going ons back in Seoul,” Stevie told him. “I’m guessing one of them is married?”
“Frank’s married to who we assume is a hostage, Margaret’s married to the Army,” Hawkeye laughed. “What about you? Partner? Kids?”
“I haven’t even had as much of a dog,” Stevie sighed. “Dad said they were just too much trouble. And I haven’t been in one place for long enough to have any serious relationships.” She tried off her hands and headed towards the Post OP for her evening rounds, surprised to see Hawkeye following her.
“I’m on night duty,” He told her. “Do you want some coffee or anything?”
“I’m okay for right now captain,” Stevie told him, walking through the rows of beds, looking at the wounded and resting servicemen. Part of her was scared that she would look at these faces and see one of the faces of her friends she had made over the years. But Michael was in Seoul the last she knew; Saul had gone to England for his grandmother’s funeral, and she didn’t see him coming back any time soon; Bill, no, his name was Axl, had been sent home and threatened to run to Canada if they ever tried to pull him back; and Izzy had switched to the Air Force with dreams of flying planes the way he raced cars, fast.
“You can call me Hawkeye,” He told her, taking his seat at the desk in the corner. He put his feet up on it and watched Stevie walk around, checking on the charts. “So, do you know any of them?”
“Who?” Stevie looked at him.
“The Rockettes,” Hawkeye laughed. “The soldiers.” Hawkeye waved a hand to indicate what he meant.
“Oh, no,” She shook her head and took a seat at the desk with him. “Thankfully, I don’t. But I know that won’t last long.”
“What makes you say that?” Hawkeye asked.
“Some of these kids can’t afford to get sent home. If their injuries aren’t bad enough, they’ll let some officer tell them how great Army life is, promise them things that won’t ever come to them, and the cycle repeats itself.” Stevie sighed.
“Lots of experience with that?”
“I know four guys that I’ve met at different bases over the years,” Stevie explained. “Only one of them didn’t let himself be convinced by the military to stay. He went back to Indiana, saying he’d rather take his chances with his asshole stepfather than be in the military one more day.”
“You know, for you to be regular army, you don’t have a very high opinion of it,” Hawkeye put his feet on the ground and leaned forward. “Like, I know why I hate it. But why do you?”
“I don’t hate it,” Stevie told him. “I just resent it.”
“Oh? Do tell?” Hawkeye smiled at her. Stevie laughed a little.
“Maybe some other time,” she got up. “Don’t want to give all my secrets away on the first day. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have my rounds to make.”

Far more eerie than any pop-up ghoul or murderous bride in the attic was the quiet that had taken over the Magic Kingdom. Beauregard couldn't even compare it to a typical midnight. Midnight still had a handful of Cast Members tending to all of those technical tasks that magic was too confused about to bother with. Midnight could still have the distant wheezes and rumbles of traffic. It was as if the world had halted. If he hadn't noticed a squirrel digging in the front yard cemetery, he would have believed time was frozen.
The grandfather clock in the hall chimed, announcing it was two p.m. Two p.m. and the park was deserted.
With a sigh that was more of a groan, he pushed himself up out of his chair and headed... elsewhere. It didn't matter where. He needed a distraction from the depressing lack of mortal guests. For several days now, (he'd lost count), there'd been no screams, no giggles, and--worst of all-- no sympathetic vibrations from lively visitors. It was making all of the ghosts of the Haunted Mansion restless.
As he wandered further down one dark hall and then the next, a curious scent wafted to his nostrils. It was sweet, pleasant, and had a strong hint of ginger. He followed it along until it brought him to the kitchen.
Inside, the former Gracey coachman/ fellow happy haunt/ regular graveyard tea party participant Dustin T. Dust was busy taking out his second tray of cookies from the oven. It was then placed to cool on a table that had not only the first tray of cookies, but a dozen blueberry muffins. And now he was returning to a mixing bowl to stir up more batter.
Beauregard cleared his throat. "Dustin..."
"Gah!" Dustin yelped, nearly dropping his bowl and fumbling it to safety. "It's just you, sir," he said with a nervous chuckle. He set the batter aside so he could adjust his glasses.
"Beau," Beauregard corrected. "No 'sir's for me." Hands behind his back, he mosied over to the table to get a closer look at the treats.
"'S hard not to call the great Ghost Host 'sir.'" Dustin had gone back to stirring. The big bowl seemed too hefty for his wiry frame, but not only was he holding it up just fine, he was also incorporating some dance steps as he moved about the kitchen.
"Oh please." Beauregard realized he needed to tuck his noose under his waistcoat lest it brush against the muffins, and quickly did so. "We used to work together as servants in this household." He frowned. "It's not as if I get to do much ghost hosting now, anyway, what with..." He trailed off, looking up to meet the other man's gaze.
Dustin shared his look of worry for a moment, but then put on a smile. "Things will be right as rain soon, sir, er, Beau. The mortals just need to be extra cautious." Another tray had already been set up, and he was scooping out small dollops of what would soon be snickerdoodles. While those were cooking, he turned his attention on the ginger cat shaped cookies that had finished cooling, and began decorating them.
Beauregard watched him add tiny chocolate sliver whiskers. "What exactly are you doing, Dustin? With all this, I mean?"
"Well, when there's nothing to do, but I'm still anxious, I get to stress baking... So long as the cook isn't around. She never liked me in the kitchen. Said I smelled like horses." His mouth twisted into intense concentration, tip of his tongue sticking out just past his buck teeth. Those tiny whiskers were always tricky.
"I shouldn't be anxious, really," he went on. "We can't get sick, not with mortal illnesses, anyway. Maybe I'm just jittery from the lack of guests." Half the cats now had whiskers, he realized proudly. "Mum and dad were bakers. They had a little shop back home in London. It's where I learned it..."
As Dustin went on, something dawned on Beau, and he straightened up with a strange look of clarity on his face. "We can't catch it..."
Dustin stopped mid autobiography. "No. We're dead."
"We're dead... and we have enough baked goods to fill a burial plot..."
"That's a rather morbid measurement..."
Beau grinned. "Dustin, there's a whole kingdom full of our neighbors, shut indoors, worried, likely bored to tears!"
Dustin countered with a smile of his own. "Neighbors who would welcome a gift basket and a friendly visit. Brilliant, sir! See, you're still an excellent host."
"Ghost Host," Beau corrected, grabbing an apron for himself. "Let's see how many more treats we can make by dusk, and then I'll ask if Dorian has any flowers he'd be willing to part with."
The two quickly got to work.
Later that night, a hearse, pulled by an invisible horse, rolled through the streets of the Magic Kingdom. At the sound of clomping hooves, residents of the park would pull back their curtains to peek out, wondering if this was some tasteless joke. Moments later, they'd find it was actually a tasty greeting when either the Ghost Host, Master Gracey, or the coachman would come knocking on their door bearing a basket full of sweets and flowers.
It didn't end at the Magic Kingdom, either. The ghosts were sure to deliver baskets to the Imagination Institute, much to the delight of Figment. (Dr. Channing was quick to point out that the little dragon really didn't need any extra sugar in his hyperactive system, thank you very much.) They stopped at Elsa's ice palace, had one basket just straight up snatched by a flock of seagulls screaming "MINE!", and quietly left a gift for the yeti at Mt. Everest. One basket was flung into the elevator shaft of the Hollywood Tower Hotel, because the spirits knew better than to directly engage the Twilight Zone lest they get trapped, too. Harrison Hightower III tried to trade a basket for the Shiriki Utundu, which the ghosts explained wasn't necessary, and they fled before he could he could attempt to leave the idol with them. Henry Mystic and Albert got plenty of banana bread to share.
All in all, it was a very long but very rewarding night.
By the time they had returned to the mansion, a note was waiting for them on the door. Dorian plucked it up, and read it out loud:
Dear ghosts of the Haunted Mansion,
When times are frightful, it's easy to get swept up in the uncertainty, and completely forget that everyone around you is trying to cope, too. Simple acts of kindness-- such as yours-- ground us, unite us, and remind us all to never lose our empathy and compassion. Thank you.
We're so proud to call you 'family.' See ya real soon!
-Mickey and Minnie Mouse
All three ghosts looked at the letter a moment longer, before sharing glances with one another.
"You know," Dorian began slowly. "I bet I could make some lovely wreaths... and flower crowns, and we could hand those out this weekend..."
"We could pack a lot of books in that hearse," suggested Beauregard. "Our library is well stocked, after all..."
"I bet I could convince the graveyard band to perform in the streets, give people a concert right outside their windows," said Dustin.
And thus one idea led to another, enough to bring a little joy to every day the parks were closed.

The American black comedy crime thriller A Simple Favor was released in 2018, and its cast members in it are extremely recognizable. The film, directed by Paul Feig from a screenplay written by Jessica Sharzer, is a suspenseful story based on the 2017 novel of the same name, written by Darcey Bell. The movie stars Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick in the main roles, among other notable actors in supporting roles. The plot centers on a small-town video blogger who attempts to solve the mystery behind her friend's disappearance.
A Simple Favor was released by Lionsgate, and the movie garnered critical praise upon its theatrical release. Most critics praised the chemistry of the ensemble cast, and also wrote enthusiastically about the movie's shocking plot twists and turns. The film ended up making $5.9 million on its first day alone, and grossed a total of $97 million worldwide, on a budget of only $20 million.

Indeed, the movie has an impressive cast led by its main stars, Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick. Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, and Linda Cardellini are some of the supporting cast members, as well as Jean Smart, Rupert friend, Eric Johnson, and Dustin Milligan, among other actors.
Tumblr media
Blake Lively takes on the role of Emily Nelson, Hope McLanden, and Faith McLanden in A Simple Favor, and her character's life is the most interesting part of the film. Viewers know Lively from teen movies The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Accepted, Simon Says, and other early-aughts flicks. Later, she appeared in movies ranging from New York, I Love You to The Town to superhero flick Green Lantern, which she starred in alongside her future husband Ryan Reynolds. In more recent years, Lively has appeared in The Age of Adaline, The Shallows, Café Society, and All I See Is You.
Following her success with A Simple Favor, Lively starred in the movie The Rhythm Section in 2020 alongside actors Jude Law and Sterling K. Brown. The movie follows a grieving woman who goes on a destructive path for revenge after learning that the plane crash that killed her family was actually a terrorist attack. To date, that is Lively's most recent role. From 2007 - 2012, of course, Lively starred as Serena van Der Woodsen in the hit show Gossip Girl, for which she won several accolades.
Tumblr media
Like Lively, actress Anna Kendrick, who portrays Stephanie Smothers in A Simple Favor, has been working in Hollywood for several years. She first became a familiar face for her role as Jessica Stanley in the Twilight movies. Following the franchise's end, Kendrick began to take on different roles. She played Natalie Keener in Up In The Air, Janet Taylor in End of Watch and voiced Courtney Babock in ParaNorman. In 2012, Kendrick reached full stardom for playing Becca Mitchell in the popular movie Pitch Perfect. After that, Kendrick appeared in a slew of movies from 2013 until A Simple Favor in 2018, including  What to Expect When You're Expecting, Drinking Buddies, Cake, Into the Woods, the two Pitch Perfect sequels, and The Accountant. She also appeared in the movies Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates and voiced a character in Trolls.

Following her turn as Stephanie in A Simple Favor, Kendrick played Kendra Glack in the 2019 movie The Day Shall Come and portrayed Noelle Kringle in the holiday movie Noelle, released the same year. She also reprised her role in Trolls for the movie's 2020 sequel.
Tumblr media
Andre Rannells, who plays Darren in A Simple Favor, began his career in television. He voiced characters on children's shows, like Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh!, as a kid, and the early aughts also saw his break into theater. He had numerous roles on the stage, and in 2011 played Elder Kevin Price in The Book of Mormon as an original cast member. From 2014 - 2018, he also had roles in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Hamilton, Falsettos, and The Boys in the Band.
Related: Disney+ & HBO Max Already Have One Thing In Common: Anna Kendrick
Rannells became a familiar face on the screen when he joined the cast of Girls from 2012 - 2017, playing Elijah Krantz in 35 episodes. This role led him to other television parts, including Bryan Collins in The New Normal and Frazier H. Wingo in The Knick, as well as guest appearances in hit shows like How I Met Your Mother and Glee. He also had voice roles in the shows Sofia the First, Welcome to the Wayne, and Vampirina. Most notably, in 2017 Rannells joined the cast of Big Mouth. He continues to play that role into 2021, as well as continues to make occasional guest appearances on other shows. In terms of film — Rannell's most recent roles were in the 2020 films The Boys in the Band, The Prom, and The Stand In. And before appearing in 2018's A Simple Favor, he had parts in 2016's Why Him? and 2015's The Intern.
Tumblr media
Linda Cardellini plays the part of Diana Hyland in A Simple Favor. Cardellini first became a household name in 1999, when she starred as Lindsay Weir in the cult television series Freaks and Geeks. That wasn't her first time in a series, though; throughout the late 1990s, she appeared in shows like Bone Chillers, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Clueless, Step by Step, Promised Land, Kenan & Kel, and Boy Meets World, among other programs.
Post-Freaks and Geeks, Cardellini continued her career in TV, appearing as Samantha Taggart in ER as Bliss Goode and Shelly in The Goode Family. She also had turns in popular shows like Gravity Falls, Mad Men, and New Girl, and took on the serious role of Meg Rayburn in 2015 for 33 episodes of Bloodline. In 2019, Cardellini began portraying Judy Hale in the Netflix series Dead to Me, opposite Christina Applegate.
Related: Why Freaks and Geeks Was Cancelled After One Season
Of course, many movie watchers know Cardellini's likeness from feature films. She appeared as Chutney Wyndham in Legally Blonde, and famously portrayed Velma Dinkley in Scooby-Doo and its sequel. Cardellini also had parts in Brokeback Mountain, The Lazarus Project, Kill the Irishman, and Daddy's Home and its sequel. Superhero movie fans know Cardellini as Laura Barton, the wife of Clint Barton aka Hawkeye in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Avengers: Endgame. And Cardellini has also starred in critically acclaimed films like Green Book, in which she played Dolores. In 2020, Cardellini portrayed Mae Capone in the movie Capone.
