PLEASE HAVE SOME RESPECT FOR OUR RELIGIOUS TEXTS.
They’re not mere pieces of literature for you to write whatever you want about them without understanding it properly. To us, they are holy texts connected deeply to our culture and history.
PLEASE DO NOT MOCK OUR GODS.
PLEASE DO NOT DENY OUR HISTORY.
PLEASE DO NOT INTERPOLATE OUR VEDAS.
They are sacred to us.

Lots of ancient cultures had myths associated with eclipses. In Hindu mythology, a demon named Rahu tried to steal the gods’ nectar, only to be caught and beheaded by Vishnu. Here’s Rahu, looking hungry:
Tumblr media
The decapitation must have been a vigorous one because Rahu’s head sailed perpetually through the heavens. When Rahu crossed paths with the sun, he swallowed it, creating an eclipse; but, being a decapitated head, he couldn’t really digest the sun. It came out through his severed throat, making all eclipses temporary.
This relief from the 700s shows Rahu lying in wait next to various celestial bodies — the sun, moon, and planets. A comet (indicated by its tail) is to his right:

Asking everyone, very graciously, to please refrain from using the word SWASTIKA when referring to the symbol used by Nazis/Nazism. That's not the correct term.
The term you're looking for is HAKENKREUZ.
Swastika/Swastik is an ancient symbol which is holy and sacred to Hindus (and other ancient cultures). We Hindus still use it in our rituals, and it's highly offensive to us to see the use of the word Swastika in relation to Nazis.
It's a symbol of auspiciousness and prosperity, of good luck and celebration. Let it remain so in the collective consciousness. Please don't kill its true meaning by perpetuating the hateful theivery of Nazis.
Thank you.

And what exactly is wrong with worshipping animals and plants? Mother Nature is what sustains us, nurtured us and keeps us alive and healthy. Plants are life giving and animals have always been a source of livelihood for us. The Sun gives us warmth and the trees shelter us.
There is absolutely NO shame is worshipping nature. In worshipping many gods.

I see where people are coming from when they say "they won't teach about x subject yet they'll reach religion?" or "they shouldn't be talking about religion in schools" but it still kinda misses the point. The problem isn't that they're teaching about religion in schools at all. the issue is that they only teach about one religion (Christianity) and they talk about it as if it's the only religion or the only good religion, and depending on which school you go to they may force those who aren't Christian to partake in Christian activities. The solution isn't to stop talking about religion in schools. The solution is to talk about all religions, to talk about athiesm and agnosticism, to talk about religious trauma, to talk about the history of religion, to talk about cults, to talk about bigotry that some religious groups (especially jews and muslims) face and to give *all* religious people a choice to practice.
I don't want schools to stop teaching about religion. I want schools to stop telling kids that there's only one religion to follow, I want schools to teach about all religions, all beliefs, and to allow non-christians to have to freedom to practice their own and to not force them to partake in christian practices.
