A Loving Marriage (Anthony Bridgerton x Fem!Reader)
Tumblr media
Summary: Anthony had married you, he adored you during your courtship. He showed his affections through floral arrangements, joyous laughter, your dance card always had his name first. When he married you though, some things changed. He would be warm, but it slowly dimmed. He was always in his office, he never spoke to you, why does he do so? Pronouns: You/Yours, She/Her Warnings: Angst Word Count: 4.0k A/N: I love angst, I love it! I looked at this request three times, midnight struck, and I turned into a writing goblin.
It had been a nice day, you had finally drawn your husband, Anthony Bridgerton, out of the house to have a delightful picnic with you. The two of you were discussing anything but pressing matters, laughing, eating the small sandwiches, drinking the sweet but tart lemonade. Occasionally your fingers would touch, a burst of energy escaping into your bodies until your fingers interlocked, accepting the warmth with open arms.
The sun was shining brightly, the clouds perfect white and fluffed into shapes the two of you pointed out and playfully teased each other for. The slight tilt of his head when you spoke of a cloud being shaped as one thing, his squinted eyes and scrunched nose were all that mattered to you. The way the sun kissed his skin and a few freckles had come to light, it was so beautiful to you, he was so beautiful.
When Anthony turned his gaze to you from the heavily brightened sky, the corners of his eyes crinkled with the smile he gave you. His toothy grin was matched with him asking, “What is it?” You paid no mind to the question, simply smiling at your husband, your heart warming as you stared at him in adoration. You shook your head, “I just love you.” You told him, the comment making him smile wide, his teeth showing in his grin. The day was beautiful, and neither of you could deny that fact. To make the day even more beautiful, flowers were spread around your blanket on the ground, showing proof of spring.
You began to ramble a bit about the newest items you saw in the shop, Anthony just listening with loving eyes. A bee had hummed and buzzed as it circled around your head, when Anthony noticed he straightened up, his eyes widening a bit in fear. He went to move the dreadful creature from you but the bee had found its attention with him instead, buzzing around his head. Anthony had fallen still, horrified.
Anthony had just returned from shooting with his father, Edmund Bridgerton. The elder man had clasped his shoulder, telling him that in due time he will be able to show someone his best. He gave him a truthfully meaningful message about having to show someone your worst before you can show them your best, but the message didn’t stay in Anthonys head very long.
The elder had noticed a group of vibrant purple Hyacinths within their gardens, his wife's favorite flower. He decided to pick the flowers with a hum, expressing how Anthonys mother would love them. The younger boy laughed and began to pick a few himself, his father standing up, swatting a very persistent bee, Anthony shaking his head playfully. He expressed how his younger sister would be quite jealous until he noticed his father had not responded.
”Father?” Anthony spoke, turning to Edmund, the man was touching his neck. “The bloody thing stung me.” He told his son, moving his hand a bit with a twitch of his mouth. A bee sting didn’t mean much, so Anthony nodded and continued to pick a few flowers until his father began to gasp for breaths. Anthony stood, walking to Edmund, “Father, what is it?” He asked, and that question would be repeated a multitude of times with no verbal response.
Edmund Bridgerton had turned to his son, a bright red patch on his neck where the bee stung him, his face extremely pale, his eyes almost black as he struggled to breathe. Anthony watched his father struggle for air and collapse into his arms. He couldn’t even hear when he yelled for someone to help, he didn’t even hear when his pregnant mother, Violet Bridgerton, had come running down the small hill after seeing them through the open door in the back of their home.
Everything happened so fast and all Anthony could process was his father reaching up to cup his mothers cheek one last time, before his hand fell and the light left his eyes. Edmund Bridgerton died that day, Violet Bridgerton became a widow that day, he and his siblings lost their father that day.
Anthony was abruptly snapped out of his thoughts when you swatted the bee away mindlessly. You hummed with a breathless chuckle, “You know it’s spring when the bees are out.” you spoke, looking in the basket for another small snack, unaware of the daze Anthony had just been in. He blinked a bit, looking around as he deeply inhaled, trying not to ruin your nice moment. He clapped his hands to his knees, “Well then.” He began, “I think I have some paperwork to attend to.” He told you, standing up and brushing himself off. You looked up rather quickly from your spot on the blanket, “Can’t it wait? We were having such a nice time.” You said, pouting ever so slightly.
He shook his head, leaning down to you, pressing his lips to yours in a short kiss. “Unfortunately it can not, enjoy the rest of the picnic.” He spoke hastily, walking back into the home, leaving you alone to watch the sky.
Days had passed, Anthony had not joined you again for a picnic, nor had he joined you for any sort of meal after that day. You didn’t understand why he felt the need to lock himself in his office, what was so interesting about paperwork he could tend to at any time? You were worried for him, you knew the footmen in the household brought him food, you just weren’t sure if he ate any of it.
With that, you decided to pay your husband a visit. You dismissed the footman at the door and simply knocked, a muffled ‘Come in’ came from the other side of the door. You gently opened it, smiling sweetly at Anthony who looked up at you, expressionless. You closed the door behind you, observing your surroundings and your husband who sat behind a desk, papers piling it. He looked like he hadn’t slept, if he had then he looked like her hadn’t slept well.
You walked to him, slow steps, the heels of your shoes sounding muffled as they clicked upon the polished floors. “You’ve locked yourself away.” You told him, standing in front of his desk, fingers twiddling in front of you. Anthony kept his eyes on you, quill pen in hands, plenty of papers around that needed signatures. He cleared his throat, “Well, some matter can not be left.” He told you simply, head looking back down to his work.
You walked around the desk, hands smoothing along his shoulders, he tensed more than relaxed. “You need a break.” You hummed to him, gently pressing your hands into the blades of his shoulders. Anthony leaned his head back into the chair, sighing, “I’m sorry my love, I just have so much work to do.” He told you with closed eyes, his mouth in a frown. Your expression mirrored his and you turned his chair a bit, taking his hands in yours. “We should go to town, go for a walk.” You suggested, “Maybe we could pick some flowers and visit your family.” You continued on, hands holding his slightly larger ones in yours.
You saying that seemed to invoke some sort of reaction from your husband, he removed his hands from you, “No.” He spoke harshly, turning back to the papers. You huffed, trying to get him to look at you, he wouldn’t budge. “Why do you refuse to spend time with me? Is your paperwork that important?” You pressed on, standing at his side, pure disbelief on your face.
Anthony put his clenched fists on the desk, “Yes, it is!” He spoke loudly, not looking at you. “You are interrupting very pressing matters, so go.” He told you, head turning to you ever so slightly, one hand raised to point to the door.
The outburst had shocked you, you stood there with a hand to your chest, a frown on your face, tears threatening to prick your eyes. “Anthony I merely hoped…” You began, trying to find the words, instead you found yourself stumbling over them. Anthony shook his head, hand to his temple as he looked back down to the papers, “I care not for your wishes, leave!” HeYou stood up straight, swallowing harshly with a small sniffle. You bowed your head to him, “Of course Mr. Bridgerton.”You spoke, walking out the room, hands clasped together and head held high as you left him alone to his work.
Anthony had not come to the bedroom that night and you had not visited his office for the rest of the day. Neither of you had come down for dinner, eating respectively in separate rooms.
The next day, mid afternoon, you walked into the office area with a tea tray. Typically, a maid would bring it in for you, but you had seemed to reject the idea and believed you were perfectly capable of doing it yourself. Anthony had heard the sound of the door opening, no knock, no announcement. He looked up and saw you setting the tea tray on the low table in front of the seats in the office. The tray had two teacups and saucers, a teapot with freshly brewed tea, a sugar bowl, a milk jug, and a strainer. All of which were porcelain with multicolored, delicately painted flowers and the Bridgerton name along the side.
Anthony sighed deeply, he didn’t look irritated, he just looked tired. “ Did I not tell you to leave me be?” He asked since you had not greeted him. You didn’t look at him as you prepared your cup of tea, “That is such a way to speak to your wife Mr. Bridgerton.” You spoke sarcastically, stirring in your sugar and taking a small sip to see if it were to your tastes. A warm smile formed on your face after you drank the warm liquid, sitting comfortably in the chair a little ways across from Anthony's desk, a table in the way of you being directly in front of his desk.
Anthony clasped his hands together, elbows on the desk, “What are you doing?” He asked, lips pursed. You placed your cup on the saucer, “If you truly believe I will let you sit in this office and rot,” You spoke, finally looking at him, “you are gravely mistaken.” You told him, expressionless. Anthony tilted his head to the side, he didn’t believe he was ‘rotting’ in the office space, but he couldn’t speak since you beat him to it. “I shall remain here and tend to you until you see fit to conduct yourself as a gentleman.” You stated, hands in your lap, straightening your posture, “Or to put sourly,” You began, “an adult.”
“Do not treat me like a child.” Anthony told you, hands dropping back to the desk, no movement towards the quills.
“Then do not act like one.”
“What has prompted this?”
You pretend to think for a moment, pulling up your hand to count, “Your blatant disregard for your wife in your own home,” You spoke as you put up a finger, “your refusal to acknowledge her presence or engage with her” you continued, putting another finger up, “or even talk to her.” You finished, putting up the last finger, slightly glaring at him.
There was silence from Anthony as he bit the inside of his cheek, twitching his nose. Due to the silence, you continued to speak, “I vowed to cherish and support you through all, but I will not endure your silence.” You explained, shaking your head a bit with your words. Anthony sighed, moving a few papers out of his way, “You are aware that traditionally wives do not-”
“You did not marry me due to my traditional nature.”
There was more silence from your husband until he ran a hand through his hair. “You will not leave until I discuss ill with you?” He asked, seeming to be contemplating the idea that he just spoke into existence. You nodded, “Precisely.”
“Very well, let’s discuss ills.”
The Bridgerton man stood from his desk and strode to sit next to you. You gestured to the tea and he shook his head, leaning forward, clasping his hands. His leg shook and tapped the floor as he struggled to find the words, “My fathers death left my mother heartbroken, she never remarried.” He spoke suddenly. The words confused you a bit, was that why he had been so closed off? You turned to him fully, crossing your leg over the other, “Your mothers strength,” You began, taking a breath, “is commendable.” You commented, the Brdigerton in front of you chose not to look at you but he nodded. “She said her love for your father was true and her devotion for your father lies strong.” You continued on, thinking about the older woman and how powerful she was for standing strong for her children. “She does not need to marry if she does not wish to.” You completed your thought at his words about his mother.
Anthony put his hands on his knees, straightening himself. He sucked his teeth, “I understand that,” He told you, “but you do not understand how she flinches when they refer to her as Dowager.” He continued on.
At parties they would announce Violet Bridgerton as Dowager VIscountess Bridgerton, and they have for the many years since Edmund Bridgerton had passed.
“My mother remains a widow.” Anthony continued, voice slightly cracking when he thought about the way his mothers hand would tighten around his arm when someone greeted her as ‘Dowager’.
You nodded in understanding, no matter how strong Violet was, it still hurt. You just didn’t process why that caused him to pull from you. “Nevertheless, I am not,” You told him, the words causing him to look put his face in his hands, “hence my lack of understanding of your coldness and sudden refusal to be with me.” You spoke, staring right at him, hands in your lap picking at your nails.
“What if you find yourself a widow?” Anthony asked suddenly, now fully turned to you.
“Pardon me?” You asked blankly, brows furrowed, lips slightly parted.
“What if you find yourself to be a widow?” He repeated, slightly differently.
“If you suspect you may act recklessly, you must inform me at once." You told him cautiously, hand moving towards him, but he pulled back. "My father's passing was but a consequence of being outdoors.” He stated blankly, eyes staring forward, distantly. He never talked about his father's death, it wasn’t a topic he was very open about. “He committed no recklessness, yet the heavens saw fit to claim him.” Anthony's hands were beginning to shake before he clenched them into fists, “A virtuous man, struck down."
“Anthony-”
“What if I do not live a graciously long life?” He asked, head snapping to you, “What if I meet my end, just as young as my father?” He asked another question that you had no answer to other than, “Anthony you will live a long life-”
He stood abruptly, face red, eyes watering, “How could you possibly know that!” He yelled at you, “You do not!” He continued to yell, face such an angry red it almost scared you. He didn’t seem angry though, his eyes were filled with fear, he was scared. You did not expect him to yell or be so emotional, it hurt you deep in your heart to see him look so terrified about what could happen.
Anthony began to pace, hands in his hair and desperately pulling at his collar. “I didn’t even wish to marry,” He told you, seemingly muttering to himself. “I feared leaving my wife alone, especially if we were to have children.” He continued, not gazing at you at all.
You stood, slowly walking to him, “Yet, here you continue to stand,” You said, “alive, and wed.” You reminded him, concern flowing through you as he paced.
He stopped walking, looking at the wedding ring on his finger. “My mother was left with eight children to raise alone.” He mumbled, having to clear his throat from how low he was speaking. “I, the eldest, lost my father when I was eighteen left to carry his title and responsibility.” He spoke to you, reminding himself of all the information he didn’t know when he was eighteen and how he had to figure it all out, how he had to be the man of the house at such a young age. “I do not wish for you and our future child to endure the same fate.”
You were quiet, “Then why did you marry me?” You whispered, your expression was slightly crinkled but you were listening. Anthony had turned to you, a soft but sad expression on his face. He gently held your hands, looking into your eyes. “My affection for you was undeniable.” He confessed, cupping one of your cheeks with his large hand, a bit of sweat dripping down his forehead from being so worked up. “It was so difficult to be inexplicably in love with you and watch for you to have other suitors.” He continued, drawing a breath, “I was drawn to you, as a moth to flame.”
You licked your lips, “Yet, you still harbor fears of leaving me-”
“The responsibility of children and a title you cannot shed unless you remarry.” He interrupted you, thumbs rubbing at your cheeks. He looked at you desperately, desperate for you to understand how he was feeling, but you could not. “Which I have no intention to do.” You retorted to his comment, he is the only man you believe you’ll ever love and nothing will change that.
Anthony nodded, dropping his hands from your face. He remembered how he wasn’t there for his mother, for his family sometimes. “I acknowledge that I was a challenge to deal with for my mother.” He spoke, and you were aware of such things. He had admitted these feats to you during your courtship, during small corners of vulnerability. “I just do not wish for you to face similar struggles alone.” He finished his thought, ultimately refusing to meet your gaze as he found the bookcases to be far more interesting.
You shook your head, “She did not endure it alone.” You stated matter-of-factly. Anthony looked up, eyes blinking in confusion, “What?” He asked you, so you continued. “Your mother, she had you, she had Benedict, Colin, Daphne. All of her children were her solace and support.” You expressed to him, reminding him of all of his siblings. They all had each other, they were all her shoulder to cry on just as she was theirs.
Anthony sighed for the thousandth time within that conversation, “We were not easy children.” He told you. Eloise didn’t wish to marry, he had been such a terrible man of the house in the beginning, Benedict did not wish for the responsibility, Colin rushed into things too quickly, Daphne had so much going on when she was named the diamond of the season, his younger siblings couldn’t even fathom the world they were in.
“No child ever is.” You told him simply, holding his hand gently. This time, he did not pull away.
You smiled at him, kissing his cheek gently and pulling back to look him into his eyes. “Now,” You started, letting out the puff of air that was compressing your chest the entire conversation. “I’d prefer if we do not speak the subject of your demise as if it were to greet us at dawn.” You told him, the comment causing him to chuckle a bit, holding your hand a little tighter. “You will come down for dinner and we will enjoy a meal together.” You told him and he nodded, “I will be down in a moment, I shall see the papers are put away first.” He spoke, looking around to all the papers scattered on his desk and some even on the floor.
You left him to the papers and asked your maid to get dinner started, the woman asking if there were any preferences you wanted. The door had closed and Anthony was soon left alone.
Once the door had closed Anthony had begun to gasp for breath, unbuttoning the top of his shirt for air. His chest began to have as he leaned against the door, tears filling his eyes. He furiously wiped at them, trying so hard to push them back but he couldn’t stop them when a choked sob left his lips. His hands were shaking when they reached his face to wipe at his eyes hurriedly. The topic of conversation was difficult, you were so sure that the two of you would grow old together with your children, that you would not have to worry about being a widow, but Anthony was not so sure.
Everyday he saw a little bit of his father in himself and it terrified him. Such a good man was taken from the world by something as simple as a bee and it scared Anthony of everything around him. Sure, before he was not scared of death, even going as far as to call for a duel where he was prepared to die for his sister's honor. But now, he had you, and he did not wish to leave you.
Anthony shakily clasped his hands in a prayer, praying for all the time in the world to be with you. Praying for more time than his father had, praying for a chance. He muttered small prayers, “Please, I just wish to be with her, I will never ask for anything else.” He cried out quietly, eyes closed, tears pouring from his eyes. “I just want time, time with her, please.” He begged quietly, his prayers in reflection to how lonely he saw his mother was. She had so many children but he knew that his mother wished for his father to be there to help her everyday.
A knock had sounded at the door, the noise caused Anthony to stand quickly and rush to the other side of the room with documents, back to the door. He cleared his throat, sniffling one last time, “Enter.” He spoke, the door opening.
“Lord Bridgerton, dinner is served.” A footman had announced, standing in the doorway.
Anthony put the documents away, wiping his tears without the man noticing. “I shall be there in just a moment's time.” He told the man, putting some documents into the drawers. The man nodded and closed the door, going to inform you of the comment.
The door closed once more and Anthony felt his legs were so weak that he had almost collapsed into the furniture. One of his hands gripped the edge of the drawer, the other clawing at his chest. He felt as if every time he took a breath his chest would tighten, he felt nauseous, dizzy. The room was spinning and his vision was blurry from his tears. It almost seemed as if he were dying, but he was not, everything felt like so much but nothing was happening.
It all felt like too much.
He tried to take a few more deep breaths, the pain ceasing and his vision returning back to normal. He slowly exhaled, blinking and wiping his tears. He clenched his jaw as he stood up straight, muttering some words of ‘man of the house’, ‘loving husband’, ‘time’. He couldn't connect the words even if he tried, all he knew was that he was going to dinner.
All he knew was that his father's words rang in his head, but he kept shaking them from his mind. “You cannot show someone your best without allowing them to see your worst.” If only his father had told him how difficult it was to show someone your worst. How frightening it was to show true vulnerability, to find the words to explain feelings you don’t even understand fully yourself.

Century Stone Egg au asks;
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some were sent in at the early-mid of Decemeber so I apologise if the story for Century Stone Egg au has altered since;
Oh gosh once the shock wears off, Wukong would super not want the decendants/reincarnations of his family hanging around in case the theories he read in Lao Tzu's books/Gold Star's research are proven true, and he fatally absorbs their dao energy on accident.
Ofc that doesn't happen. Those were only *theories* in the research. But Wukong doesn't know that!
The visitors are hard to get rid of tho. It like dealing with stray cats.
Stray cats that insist on feeding him, getting him new clothes/blankets, fixing his hut, helping him catch up with what he missed in the world, helping him organise infant care, offering access to mental health services etc...
It icks him out.
Don't get Wukong wrong, he is super touch-starved and grateful for all the attention/help, but he also feels bad for his visitors. He doesn't want them to keep coming just because they're connected to his pilgrim brothers. He also feels wrong for recieving help from Iron Fan during this time because he feels like she's only doing so as a favor to DBK.
Wukong tries his best to distance from them all. But damn aint they stubborn! Especially the little baby dragon who reminds Wukong so painfully of Ao Lie - the pup's Will somehow surpassing even the Great Sage's.
Mei: "Hug!" Wukong: "No sour-plum. No hug." Mei, frowning: "Hug!!" Wukong: "...oh I can't just not. C'mere you little kiwi!" Wukong: *picks up Mei and blows a raspberry on her chubby cheek* Mei: *shriek of delight!*
Tang is also super hard to get away from when he has big questions to ask, esp since Wukong really can't run far enough XD. Pigsy even more so since he insists Wukong "sits 'yer butt down and eat! You look starved!". Sandy lets Wukong come and go as he pleases, but never leaves the island without giving the monkey nice tea blends he might like + reccomendations for relaxing therapys.
The Ao-Longs are like a double battle of stubborn energy, they just had a baby themselves and have drastically more preparation than Wukong has in the nursery department. So they aren't leaving until Wukong understands "baby-proofing" and what not to feed them in the first few months. They def buy the monkeys product they themselves use, and Long Chao would probs give himself a concussion trying to build Wukong a crib as a surprise present.
Wukong simply can't get away from their motherhenning.
And ofc once Wukongs' subjects/fellow monkey demons find out that he's awake (cus they will), they immediately mobilize to fix what was left of the Stone Palace to make it fit for their King and his Cub. Wukong weakly insists not to go through so much trouble... but once he sees the palace in a fraction of it's former glory, he starts blubbering. The Stalwarts have to hold back from tackling their King into a tight hug after they finally reunite after so long.
Wukong still cries some nights. Missing the ones left behind so long ago. Especially his mate.
And even with being so secretive and careful of who knew about the Stone Egg; word travels fast...
And far enough to reach even Diyu...

Masterlist ☽ ☾
                                          ☽ ☾
“Fuck ma, you feel good” Jack moaned out, pelvis consistently pounding into you.
All you could do was moan in his mouth, your lips connected in a fiery kiss.
The vibrator on your clit was buzzing with delight, covered in your slick as you tried to hold it still. The two of you had been going at it for hours, and Jack had no intentions of stopping.
After-tour-sex with Jack was absolutely amazing, because you knew you weren’t going to be able to walk the next day. He’d given you orgasm after orgasm, your mind lost count after 4.
Jack pinched and pulled at your nipples, slapping the flesh a few times before leaning down to suck on it. That action alone had you clenching down on him like a vice.
“Jack, I’m gonna cum again.” You announced, your head thrown back in pleasure.
“Cum for me mamas, cum all over me. Give me another one.” And you came, hard, squirting all over Jack and his pelvis. He continued to thrust into, chasing his own high until he was finally able to, pulling another orgasm out of you at the same time.
He collapsed on top of you, rolling you both over so that you laid on his chest, cock still buried deep inside of you.
“I missed you so much mamas.”
“Hm, I can tell. Did you miss me or my pussy?” You asked, looking up at him with your chin resting on his chest.
“The both of you.” He smiled down at you, kissing your forehead.
“Mhmm” You chuckled, placing your ear to his heart as you fell asleep to the sound of the steady rhythm.
                                          ☽ ☾
The cool counter top was digging into your hips with every thrust, and you were quiet sure that’s it would leave bruises.
However, you simply did not care, as Jack was blowing your back out in the best way possible.
He pulled you up by your neck, his hand wrapped snuggly around your throat. Your back arched against his chest, bracing yourself with your hands on the now warm countertop.
“Fuck Jack, don’t stop. Please, baby, don’t stop.”
“I can't stop when you’re gripping me like this, fuck Y/N.” He announced landing a harsh blow with his free hand to your ass check. That hand eventually returned to your waist, wrapping around it to protect you from the edge of the counter.
“Baby... Shit, babybabybaby, I’m gonna cum. I’m gonna cu-“ At that Jack pulled out and came on your ass, jerking himself off before slamming himself back into you, pushing you towards your climax. You let go with a deep moan, clamping around him and cumming hard.
“Phew.” You sighed out, Jack turning your head to pull you into a kiss.
“You okay mamas, did the counter bruise you too bad?” You looked down at your waist where Jack’s hand once was, taking notice to the different lines of indentation.
“It’s probably gonna bruise lightly, but it’s fine, it was way worth it.” He chuckled at you, pulling out with a soft grunt before spinning you around.
“I love you.”
“I love you more baby.” You kissed his lips once more, smiling into the kiss.
“Come on, let’s get a bath mamas.” He picked you up bridal style and carried you to the bathroom, laughter falling from your lips.
                                          ☽ ☾
You were happy the couch was leather. Because the amount of orgasms Jack pulled out of you had the towel drenched and you were certain that it had soaked its way onto the cushions.
At this point you were giving him the ride of his life, spelling your full name on his dick as moans fell from your lips.
“Fuck ma, keep doing that. Shit.” He moaned out, leaning forward to leave hickeys on your neck.
“You feel so good Jack, so so good.” You moaned out, quickening your pace. Jack took to meeting your thrusts, both of your orgasms coming closer and closer. He nipped and licked the skin of your breasts, leaving marks upon skin; his hands resting firmly along your hips.
“Shit baby, I’m gonna cum.”
“Cum for me Jack, fill me up please, I need it.” Jack came at your request with a grunt, you following right behind him. You slid off of him with a pop, taking some of the mixture you two had made to your mouth, licking your fingers.
“Hmm, not only do we look good together, but we taste good together.” You tilted your head and nodded, Jack belting out a laugh.
“Y/N, I swear to god you’re gonna be the death of me.” He leaned up to kiss you, the both of you smiling into the kiss.
“I love you Jack.”
“I love you more Y/N.”
“Impossible!”
“Oh here we go again with this shit.”
                                          ☽ ☾
“Hello?? Earth to Y/N?? Are you in there?” Jack tapped your head with his fingers, pulling you out your daze. The two of you were cuddled up, naked in bed, having finished another session. The clean sheets felt amongst your clean skin, Jack having scrubbed you down a few moments ago with your favorite soap. You kissed his chest, looking up at him.
“What we’re you thinking about ma?” He asked, rubbing his thumb across your cheek, the soft sounds of the rain against the window playing in the background.
“Our Sex Memories.”

To Belong
Armin/Reader (Drabble)
Cws: Gn! Reader, modern au, college-age (implied), established relationship, coffee shop
About 1.4k words
Summary: Armin and Reader relax together in a little coffee shop.
Just tender little moments, delicately collected and strung up like stars.
A sweet little drabble moment I thought of recently.
Tumblr media
On the brown cushioned couch in the corner is where the two of you liked to sit every time. The coffee shop had become a favorite date spot for you and Armin for a number of reasons. One, their food is amazing. Two, their coffee is amazing. Three, it’s never crowded. Four, primarily, because it’s lined top to bottom with books. You’d never forget how Armin’s jaw dropped the first time he stepped foot into the cozy cafe. Armin would never forget how he swore to marry you one day when you showed him a place so wonderful. Well, he had already practically daydreamt his entire future with you, but still.
Now you both sat, on your favorite couch in the back corner of the little shop, an antique lamp on the table next to you, and a window on the wall to your left. The rain pattered soothingly outside, providing a nice touch to the peaceful atmosphere you hardly ever felt anywhere else.
You gave a deep sigh as you set your book down on your lap and reached over to the wooden coffee table in front of you to take a sip of your drink. You hummed and closed your eyes, the hot liquid filling up your chest with a pleasant warmth as you drank. Your eyes eventually wandered over to Armin, whose nose was still buried in his book, like it always was. Your lips quirked up into a smile at the sight. He had always been such a soft-spoken boy. You could picture Armin at every stage of his life sitting quietly in the back of the class, invested in some new chapter of the literary work he had most recently picked up. It was when those bright blue eyes glanced up from behind his book to look at you before shyly looking back down that you realized you were a goner. Eren had always said that you were the only thing that could tear Armin’s attention away from his books. Sometimes, when Armin came over to your house to see Eren, he would completely forget what he was saying when he saw you walk by (which more often than not earned him an elbow in the ribs from your twin brother).
Armin would always remember the day Eren pulled him aside. It was in high school, a while after you and Armin had started dating. Armin would always remember the trust in his best friend’s eyes when Eren told him that he was the only person he’d ever trust with his you, and that Armin had to take care of you, no matter what.
It was like déjà vu. Armin must have sensed your stare, as his eyes glanced up from his book for a brief moment and locked with yours. He immediately looked back down at the text but failed to suppress the small smile forming on his lips. As much as you loved admiring him as you were, you couldn’t bring yourself to simply leave him be. You took delight in the way he looked when he blushed a little more. You set your coffee down and readjusted your position on the couch, now leaning more of your weight into the blonde. He looked up from his book and raised his eyebrows, a playful smile tugging on his lips. “Hi,” you greeted simply, a light grin on your face as you stared at him. “Hello, Y/n,” Armin replied warmly, his eyes softening as he took in each one of your features. You said nothing as you leaned in closer to him, he shifted his weight to accommodate you and rested a hand on the small of your back. “Yes?” Armin giggled innocently. He’s bound to give you a heart attack one day. “Do you need something, Love?” Ah, that name. It’s always been your favorite. You used it for him too. The two of you knew it wasn’t unique to your relationship, but you liked to pretend it was. A part of you took pride in never having called your boyfriend “bae” or “babe,” and vice versa. “Nothing, beautiful,” you sighed, reaching your hand up to cup Armin’s cheek and stroke it gently. His face reddened at your words, and he leaned into your touch. The only thing stopping Armin from reciprocating your affections more was the fact that you were technically in public. “Technically” because the coffee shop was almost never full, and anyone who had come there knew the same thing and had come for the same reason you had: to be alone. They were too preoccupied with their own tasks to pay you two any mind, but still. It’s just something you two had established as a couple, that you would never go overboard with PDA.
Your eyes were hazy as they gazed into Armin’s, you seemed to be forgetting yourself as you began to close the gap. He visibly tensed, glancing around the café anxiously before looking back at you, and you didn’t miss the way his pupils dilated at the closeness. “Y/n, what are you doing?” he gulped, feeling his heart begin to pound in his chest. You really did mean to just leave him be so he could enjoy his book, but you found it impossible to be sitting next to your boyfriend for this long without showing him some kind of affection. You inched your face closer, closer, and Armin squeezed his eyes shut in anticipation, but the contact he expected never came. Instead, he opened his eyes to find you pressing the tip of your nose against his, a sweet glint in your eyes. Armin’s brain nearly short circuited when he heard you giggle. You lovingly rubbed your nose against his before pulling away and resting your head on his shoulder. His heart was palpitating at a concerning rate- in fact he was almost afraid you could hear it.
You simply smiled to yourself as you wrapped your arms around Armin’s body and sighed, deciding to give up on your book just for now. Once Armin was able to process what happened, a wide, blissful smile stretched its way across his face and he let out a breath he didn’t know he had been holding in. He wrapped his arm around your waist, resting his head on top of yours and setting his book in his lap. A warm feeling filled his chest, spreading throughout his entire body, almost like he’d taken a particularly long sip of coffee. It was a feeling only you could give him. It would probably be okay if you both took a break for just a little bit, not too long. Your body slowly started to relax as your lungs filled with his scent. It was oddly indistinct, but you could recognize it anywhere. It reminded you of a field of flowers on a windy day, on the top of a hill, warm summer sunshine bathing the scene. Sure it was technically impossible for him to smell of a place like that, but still, that’s what his scent reminded you of as your eyelids began to grow heavy. Armin had always been so compassionate toward you, but it wasn’t just you specifically, he was a kind person in general. Always offering to help those in need while at the same time never wanting to “burden” others with his troubles. You had always wanted to be there for him like he was for you, and you felt a step closer every day.
Armin knew he’d never felt happier than when he found out his feelings for you were reciprocated, but this was certainly a close second. He thought of his days growing up with you, times when he would literally dream of getting to having moments like this with the person he’d fallen in love with. Now here he was, actually getting to hold you in his arms. You chose him, and he was never going to make you regret it. He yawned as he fought the sleep tugging on his eyelids, wanting to memorize the peaceful rhythm of your breathing for a moment longer.
-
The old café owner noticed his wife beckoning him to look at something from the other side of their shop. He set down the cleaning rag he had been scrubbing with and made his way over, heeding her warning to keep quiet as the floorboards creaked lightly under his feet. They both peeked around the corner and the man let out a soft chuckle at the young couple sleeping soundly on the brown sofa in the corner. “Should we wake them?” his wife asked, still gazing at the pair tenderly, “They might have somewhere to be.”
“Nah,” he replied, “If they had somewhere to be they both wouldn’t have fallen asleep here. They haven’t got anywhere to be except right there.”

Sanzu Haruchiyo X Reader
Summary: In which you are Bonten’s No. 2 and Sanzu is No. 3. Almost ten years of being stuck working together means you’re both bound to pick up on each other’s idiosyncrasies, yeah?
*IMPORTANT NOTE: this is more like an interlude/bonus chapter actually centering more on misc bonten x reader Gen! interactions. it still ties in with the whole story, it’s just there’s less to zero sanzu in this one cus the focus will be more on the other bonten haha, so if you’re here exclusively for sanzu x reader, you may skip this if you like! 😬
it’s just i got these headcanons that idk what to do with and also they are somewhat short 😭

chapter 7: We may not be a perfect family but we love each other (until we don’t) - koko
.
.
Koko thinks of cats when he thinks of you; partly from the circumstances of your first meeting, partly ‘cause of the way you sort of simply glide in and out of rooms quietly with the stealth and fluidity of one.
(Although Sanzu had insisted he thought more of ghosts and wraiths, a comment which Koko only made light of even though he wasn’t wrong.)
She even kinda fights like a feline, he’d told Inupi one time all those years ago, as he thought of the way your lithe and minimal movements were always able to take bigger guys down along with the quiet ferocity to match.
Maybe she learns from all the cats back in the shrine, Inupi responded—a joke, essentially, in his own terms. Koko suppressed a smile: cat and dog, you and her, maybe that’s why you two get along so well went his own, sad attempt at humor, because you and your second-in-command were obviously very close and very unlike cats and dogs. The joke, however, sadly did not seem to land, and Inupi’s forehead only creased, his expression dumbfounded.
That’s not how it works.
Koko never forgets the day you were first introduced by Mikey. It’s at the back of Toman’s abandoned shrine, at the edge of the thick forest surrounding the area, that their new leader had said they’ll be meeting Black Dragon’s temporary captain. He never specified what anyone would be doing in the forest at this hour in the afternoon, and neither him nor Inupi had asked, but then there you were: in your bare feet and in your school uniform, attempting to move a big pot of plant from one spot of land to another, your expression almost annoyed. (At the pot, most likely, which did not seem to budge.)
Mikey called your attention still a few meters afar:
“Hey. Whatcha up to—”
in a tone that very clearly did not seem to intend to place whatever you were up to above this particular Toman business at the moment, so really, it would not have made any difference whether you answered or not. Which you didn’t, only glancing at your president once—not with the angry expression, at least—before continuing with your ordeal.
The pot nudged just a tiny bit.
Only when Mikey finally stopped right in front of you and you noticed Koko’s and Inupi’s figures behind him did you finally stand straight, looking at Mikey quizzically. “What’s up?” Quick nods to Inupi and him. “Hello.”
Mikey briefly introduced all of you and proceeded to explain that you were to be formally placed as the Black Dragon’s new captain today, to which your eyes slightly widened.
“Oh, I thought you said tomorrow.”
Mikey hesitated at first but then shrugged. “Hm, they came here already today so I thought might as well. Come on, it’ll be quick.”
You narrowed your eyes at him and then to his two quiet companions but then so agreed anyway, and as Mikey ushered you in front nobody else aside from Koko seemed to notice your lack of shoes. You’d only taken a few steps ahead when you tugged at the sleeve of Mikey’s coat, making him pause.
“I don’t have my Toman jacket,” which was obvious but was not what Koko was expecting for you to say, if he were to be honest.
Mikey looked at you blankly. “Well, where is it?”
“Well, something happened to it,” was your only vague response, but then you turned your head to where you just came from making all three boys follow suit. On a wooden bench slightly obscured by the plants were a family of cats consisting of a mother and her kittens, all sleeping peacefully in a cozy pile on top of your balled up Toman jacket.
“Oh. Okay.” Mikey only nodded like he completely understood. Without thinking about it twice, Sano Manjiro, Tokyo Manji gang’s No. 1—feared around the streets of Tokyo, bowed to no one and stepped over everyone—took off his billowing Toman coat and draped it over your shoulders. “Here, you can borrow mine,” he simply said. “I mean, you gotta look the part.”
Your mouth stretched into a grin.
Beside him, Inupi gave Koko a quick, wordless glance accompanied by that tiny, upward curve on the corner of his mouth that anyone else could’ve missed. Inupi rarely smiled at anything anymore those days—perhaps one of the reasons why this singular, initial meeting had stuck in his mind all these years. It’s one of those memories Koko always thought he could probably live without, occupying a quiet little corner in his mind which, frankly, a much more practical or life-changing memory could have occupied, if it were up to him. But then there you were with your cats and your air of schoolgirl abandon making Inupi smile, an information that he simply didn’t know what to do about.
“Alright, boss. But please, no speeches.”
This made Mikey laugh. “Can’t promise you that, I’m sorry.” It’s only after a few more steps that Mikey did finally notice your bare feet.
“Where the hell are your shoes?”
“Oh, they got wet,” you quietly said. “I was playing with the cats…” and three pairs of eyes stared at you like it wasn’t enough of an answer. “With a hose. Manjiro, I was watering the plants.”
And so you stood atop the shrine steps while addressing the men from Black Dragons, your feet bare and covered in scratches and the Toman president’s much bigger coat over your shoulders. Nobody questioned the absence of shoes—at least not out loud—not with your leader Manjiro right by your side, in his flip flops holding a half-eaten taiyaki in one hand.
The memory comes unannounced in snips and pieces some years later as another Bonten meeting ends. There’s various movements around the table by now, but then Koko catches your undivided staring as you sat across from him, your chin propped up against one hand. He ignores you for a short while as he fixes his things, until he finally decides to look up.
“Anything wrong?”
You suddenly purse your lips in a small smile amidst the gloomy and rigid air of mid-morning Monday meetings and for a moment, it’s as if Koko is thinking of another memory.
“I just realized you kinda look like my Mr. Kaku,” is all you say. The little remark makes not-your Kakucho look up from the document he’s reading without really turning his head, while Rindou who is seated beside you squints—in curiosity or amusement, Koko can’t tell. From his own right side, Takeomi is slowly angling his head as if meaning to take a better look at Koko behind his curtain of silver hair.
Mr. Kaku, of course, is your pet cat, the one with the smooth silver fur that you’d rescued from an abandoned site during an out-of-town business trip some months ago. You and your unimaginative pet naming sense landed on “Mr. Kaku,” in honor of your then-partner Kakucho who had volunteered to keep the cat inside his bag thru the doors of the hotel that didn’t allow pets. But he looks nothing like Kaku, Manjiro had quipped, earning a few grunts of approval from your ever-biased circle, but you couldn’t have been bothered so you stuck with the name.
Koko is quick to decipher that in your-speak, cat comparisons are more or less compliments and never a form of insult—not that in your mid-20s, you all haven’t already gotten above petty verbal affronts, after all. So he humors you, eyes now back to his things but with his attention still on the matter at hand. “What, is it the hair?”
“Yeah, it’s the hair,” Rindou says before you can answer, his head lolling lazily on one shoulder. “Can’t believe no one had noticed before.”
“And the eyes,” you simply nod. “They both got these nice, sharp eyes.”
Would you have named him Mr. Koko if you thought he resembled Kokonoi before? is the one lingering question that none of the men around you bother to ask.
It’s only a couple of weeks later, after another Bonten meeting, when Koko hands you a souvenir from his weekend business trip: a red cat collar with a customized pendant, a tiny enamel engraving of your Bonten tattoo. The pendant is black on one side and gold on the other, and the small gasp you let out makes every head in the room turn—the almost unfamiliar, genuine sound of delight thawing the usual morning’s stern atmosphere.
“There’s a shop right across the hotel where they make rush engravings like that.” Koko is saying casually like it’s no big deal, but he sees the expression on your face and he can’t help but grin. “Thought Mr. Kaku might like it.”
Your eyes perk up at the mention of ‘Mr. Kaku’ like Koko is the first person to ever acknowledge that Mr. Kaku doesn’t need to be named anything else apart from ‘Mr. Kaku.’ “Oh, it’s perfect, Koko. I’ll send you pictures once I make him wear it,” you say, your attention instantly back to your hands, choosing to ignore his ‘I think just one picture might be enough.’
From the other end of the room, Sanzu is making his way towards the door. “Congratulations,” he smirks as he passes by behind you, quirking one eyebrow up at Koko. “Now she won’t be shutting up about it all weekend,” because Sanzu will be spending the next three days with you over in another city to conduct business with another drug scion, of course.
Across the table, Kakucho only sighs before shaking his head. “I still wish you could’ve picked a better name for your cat,” he says—a valid complaint, Koko thinks bemusedly, now that your own Mr. Kaku looks more like a feline version of himself.

i’m so obsessed with ur writing!! could u do more yoongi x kitten cus i love them sm
Pairing: Yoongi x reader (nicknamed Kitten)
Wordcount: 2.5k words
Genre: fluff, smut
Rating: 18+
Hello there!
I'm really working on something with those two! Currently I'm finishing Jk and Candy's piece for Love Talk but after that we're starting again with the new prompt!
For now I can tell you that I have incredibly steamy plans for them even though I expected things to go a bit differently... Let's just say that the polls for the next prompt are still open and they keep surprising me everyday 👀
However, I was really happy to find your ask so I think I could give you a teensy tiny drabble 😉 It picks up from the little extra at the end of Chocolate for Dinner and it's just a drabble, of maybe 2.5k words. Obviously smutty. There is some swearing.
Here is my updated masterlist!
——————————————— "You okay like this, Kitten?" Yoongi asked, checking in on you. "Are you cold, love?"
"It's good, just put it in, Yoongi." You reassured him, pushing your ass back, towards him, trying to brush your crotch against something hard that could give you a bit of pressure.
He groaned and you whined in reply, desperate. "You sound so good, Kitten." with one hand he freed his cock, gripping it and swiping his thumb gently against the tip, his other hand reaching the back of your neck, pressing there. "I can't touch your tits like this, love, are you good with that? Wanna move?"
You whined, using your forearm to prop your upper body up and away from the table just by a few inches, leaving enough space so his arm could eventually  slither up from your waist to your chest. With your other hand you found his thigh, then his wrist and finally the fingers wrapped around his gorgeous, slippery length. You pulled him toward you. "Inside." You whimpered.
Yoongi lost it, pressing his tip to your slit and slowly sinking in. "Fuuuuuuuck, you're so soft and warm and tight. You're gonna kill me like this, Kitten."
Once you reckoned he didn't need his hand for himself anymore, you gripped it, lacing your fingers together and dragging it at your side, below you, at your breast. "Squeeze them, Yoongi."
He groaned. "Kitten, you're so nasty."
"Yeah, I know, just squeeze them." You replied.
He laughed, shocked by your reply. He snapped his hips forward, immediately picking a hard and fast pace. He bent down, indulging in your sensitive ears. "Like this?" He asked before slipping almost all the way out and then back inside aggressively as he pinched your nipple.
"Yoongi, yes!" You exclaimed, his harshness absolutely arousing.
"Not gonna last much." He said, setting his pace in earnest. "You know your safe word, uh?" He reminded you, pausing for a second, until you replied.
"Yes. Yellow to slow down, red to stop."
"Nice." His hips started moving with a tough, quick rhythm, making your tits bounce against the table, both the hand at your nape and at your chest gripping you hard as he used the leverage to push you onto him, as if you were little more than a fuck doll. "Come on, don't be shy, lemme hear you."
Your eyes rolled shut as you let your heavy breathing echo in the room. "I love you." You whispered shyly. "I want to live with your hands on my tits. I love your hands."
Yoongi bent down to listen to your broken rambling. "You do?" His tight grip moved to the supple flesh of your breast his thumb drawing circles on your nipple while his palm and fingers cupped the underside gently but effectively. He always knew how hard and how soft he needed to touch you. You had never had someone as dedicated and attentive as him. "Is this right, Kitten? Does it feel nice?"
"It feels so good." You replied, moaning out the "o". Your inner walls started quivering your hand slowly heading to your clit.
"Love. I'm–" His hand moved. Not the one at your breast, the one at your nape. It slipped forward, toward your throat. "Can I?"
You mewled in delight, nodding. "Please."
You couldn't see him, but Yoongi grinned, slowing down his thrusts as he carefully located your carotid arteries with his digits.
When he found them at the side of your throat, he pressed down gently first, the weight of your head helping him reduce your blood flow enough for you to get dizzy. This, mixed with your standing position, had a rush of adrenaline coursing through you, your whole body focused on what was happening at your pelvis.
He spoke with a grovelling voice. "Kitten, whose is it?"
"Yours." You replied meekly, your head spinning at the extra effort of talking.
"Nope, Kitten. Whose is this?" He said, pushing harder inside you... Oh.
"It's mine." You whispered, your voice sparking up with a whine as he rewarded you, hitting the perfect spot.
"That's right. I'm all yours, Kitten." He was close and you could tell. "I'm fucking yours."
You tightened around him. "Cumming." You whined, your shoulder giving up a little underneath you, making your chest fall on top of the table, trapping his hand, your forehead hitting the hard wood with a thud.
Yoongi took a few more thrusts, getting sloppier, losing his rhythm. "That's it." His fingers lost their grip at your neck, your enhanced blood flow making your head fuzzy. Deciding not to stop, you kept moving your fingers, the feeling too good to let go.
"Kitten, are you...? Fuck!" Yoongi came apart as your second climax began growing. His release made him hammer into you for two or three times, just enough to hit your sweet spot and send you into a mind-blowing high. The sense of fullness enhanced the contractions of your inner muscles that simply found their own pattern of pushing and pulling. "Kitten, love, you're the absolute best." He groaned, finally bending down to kiss your cheek.
The side of your face had completely adhered to the cold surface of the table and you were a little upset that as soon as you opened your eyes, you saw the dirty dishes and the leftovers from your meal.
You had almost forgotten you had both interrupted your dinner to fuck, turned on by someone else's moans, so needy that you couldn't even reach the bedroom.
"Are you with me, ____?" He asked. "Are you all good?"
You nodded. "I'm alive."
Yoongi smiled. "Just alive?"
"Consider it a miracle I haven't died of exceedingly good sex yet." You quipped.
He shook his head, nuzzling into your nape. "Maybe I haven't fucked you good enough yet." He kissed your temple as his fingers, once limp at your breast, grabbed your flesh again. "I think I should keep trying."
You laughed. "It would be one hell of a way to go."
The vibrations from your laugh caused a strange sensation on his sex, which made him curious. "Yup. Do you wanna finish your dinner?"
"Mhh." You reflected. "Maybe we could just let it be and get in bed."
He moaned in relief. "I love you."
"Love you too." You basked in bliss for a few more seconds. "Now roll off me, I have to put the food away and clean up the table."
"Just come to bed." He tried to convince you.
"Go, it'll take a minute." You reassured him.
"I wish we could teleport to bed." He murmured. Again that lovely sensation from your laugh. He knew he would fall for it. He knew he would spend the rest of your night trying to make you laugh with his cock inside you.
But that was for later. Standing up, he pulled out of you, not without you whining in protest, just a little. He snickered and covered himself quickly, donning his zipper and button but leaving his belt undone. Before helping you up, he fixed your panties back in place. "I'd love to see you dripping, but we need to fix the kitchen." He commented, using the arm at your chest to help you up. You felt his release ooze out of you, your brain kindly reminding you there was around a 90% probability that he would lick it clean later. Shaking your head at yourself, you smiled turning your head so he would kiss your lips.
He obeyed gently. "Let me help you with the dishes."

Onyx and MC find out that they're having Twins
Written by: @evoedbd
It was a usual peaceful day in the clinic. Sunlight shone through the windows, reflecting the off coloured white walls to bathe the room in a soft, bright light. The air was so light, light enough that one could forgive the beige linoleum floors and the sterile smell which betrayed the calm and gave a hospital vibe. Combatting the sterile nature was a large fish tank, illuminated with gentle blues through driftwood and aquarium plants. The plants waved gently in the currents, joyfully curling around the playful bubbles escaping an ornament amidst the driftwood. The fish danced around their environment, fins occasionally flaring before they dashed off, merrily oblivious to the incoming storm.
Standing guardian to the peaceful waiting room was a lone secretary, stationed behind her large corner desk. Immaculately dressed, as she had been every day for ten years on the job, her occasionally stern gaze held the rabble in line. Under her eye, even the most anxious of patients stayed quiet, perhaps mistaking her for harsh. She was not. These patients who came in were under her care until they met their doctors. For the lives they grew, the secretary owed them a moment of peace. A place to feel safe. Whether it was to hand them pamphlets from her desk with cliche titles such as “what to expect while expecting” or handing them pamphlets to support groups. Sometimes, a simple glass of water or some biscuits were what her patients needed, and she loyally provided, honoured by her small role in helping healthy babies be brought into the world. Though, there was a darker side to her observations. She had to pick out the women at risk, the women in tough circumstances. These women stayed with her, even long after they left her sight. The “unfortunate” accidents which could not be proven as anything but. The husbands and wives who looked just a little bit too angry at being there. The expecting mothers who were too twitchy. The noble secretary kept them all marked, a tiny yellow flag on their appointments.
She had known the moment miss Onyx Wren had come in all those years ago that something was horribly wrong. A lone, terrified young woman who had done her best to be bright and chirpy. She’d talked about her loving boyfriend, how he was so excited for her baby, how he was working extra hard and making her work harder to provide the best life for their coming child. It had come as no surprise when the clinic heard she had lost her baby in a training accident. When the following check-up was under the watchful eyes of her boyfriend. The way he had looked at Onyx still chilled the Secretary to the core, and when she had heard his line of questioning. All about physicality. All about when Onyx could have sex again. She knew. She knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that he had done something horrific, and that Onyx was too scared to speak, too trapped in denial to accept her reality.
Today, the scene had been something entirely different. Onyx had been quiet, terrified even, but she was not alone. With her was a little Asian woman, a hurricane barely restraining herself. The air had changed the moment they stepped in, the Asian woman holding the doors for Onyx, comforting her with amusing faces and gentle touches. The Asian woman hadn’t seemed to care how childish she seemed; her focus was devoted to Onyx. Over her shoulder, a bag containing several textbooks had bounced, textbooks the Secretary recognised as medical schoolbooks on pregnancy and reproduction. That had given her pause. For all the childish energy and wild excitement, the girl had shown, she was so clearly committed. So seriously dedicated to whatever role she was playing for the expectant mother. And Onyx? Onyx, for all her fright, seemed to gravitate to that energy, feeding off it until the two seamlessly worked together, as if they felt the other in their very soul. As if reading one another’s thoughts before they even occurred. It was sickeningly adorable. If only that Asian woman could keep her voice down, then the Secretary might have even been cooing over them.
“TWINS!” The gleeful cry cut through the peaceful din of the waiting room; the roar of a dragon across the countryside. Like the beating of wings, the faithful pounding of footsteps against the floor crescendoed, growing closer and closer. Occasionally, the sound of shoes squeaking from the friction against the floor broke the pattern, or a pause to the steps cued more joyous shouting.
The Secretary cringed, her dedicated typing coming to a halt as she braced herself for the human hurricane. The one she’d read as the emergency contact. Cali Meng Xi.
“Twins! Twins! Its twins! She’s having twins!” Cali continued to shout, leaping and whooping through the waiting room in a flurry of her tie-dyed hoodie and long, powerful legs. The bike mechanic danced, kicking her white high tops into the air with each leap and stride, reminiscent of a frolicking stallion amidst the spring grass. How could she stop? The excitement burning in her body was too powerful to contain, too pure to be tainted by something as cold as rational, mature behaviour or logic. Onyx was having babies. Plural. Not A baby. But BABIES. Twins! Two baby Onyx’s! Double the adorableness in the world. Double the miracles! Her heart was going to beat out of her chest; was going to explode into a shower of rainbow glitter and unicorns delivering bombs of happiness to all. Onyx! Babies!
Behind her, a melodic giggle twinkled. A sound of delight and embarrassment at the same time. Onyx followed at a far more sedate pace, reaching out in an effort to catch Cali’s arm whenever the mechanic was within reach. Of course, Cali didn’t stop bouncing around, her face split by the dopiest grin ever seen. Instead, she took Onyx’s hand, spinning the shorter woman as if they were in a ballroom instead of a waiting room.
“Cali, calm down. Just watching you is making me tired.” Onyx laughed; her voice filled with that undeniable note of happiness. Even as Cali’s behaviour embarrassed her a little, it also filled her with pride. It was evident in the healthy glow of her cheeks, the delighted, adoring twinkle in her oceanic emerald eyes. Her plea was heeded. Cali slowed, sweeping Onyx up into a loving embrace, only to spin her around once again. Onyx simply laughed, kicking her feet playfully before she was gently set down.
“The most beautiful woman in the world is having twins! I love you! I love you all, so, so much! I’m so excited, Onyx. I’m so happy I feel like I’m gonna explode if I don’t let it out!” Cali cried, fat tears of joy rolling down the curve of her cheeks. The truth of her words was evident. Standing still, Cali’s muscles twitched, all rebelling beneath her skin. She trembled, a tangle of energy with nowhere to go. Still, when she lifted her hands to Onyx’s cheeks, Cali was so very gentle. Even trembling, her fingers never became rough as they tucked strand after strand of golden hair behind Onyx’s delicate ear. For all her overwhelming energy, Cali’s hands were nothing but sweet again Onyx’s cheeks, as if cradling her world in her rugged palms. Gently, she lured Onyx into a kiss, the sweetest she could offer. Her lips caressed Onyx’s, pleading, writing her love into every romantic memory. A gesture of such vulnerability offered without fear or shame, unperturbed as to who witnessed such a moment.
The Secretary smiled, surrendering to her impulse to croon over the young women. Even from across the room, she could see the devotion in Cali’s dark eyes, could see how Onyx was her entire world. It was laced through every touch. The tenderness of her hands to Onyx’s barely showing stomach. The love in even the most chaste of kisses, in how Cali pressed them everywhere she could. This hurricane of excitement had no qualms about kneeling to Onyx, to pressing her lips to Onyx’s tummy. About sobbing with happiness. This woman was proud, without being prideful. Intense without becoming domineering. Cali Meng Xi was nothing like the boyfriend Onyx had tried to sell as loving. The longer The Secretary watched, the more apparent it became. Cali’s actions were all for Onyx. Cali wasn’t out to disturb the others, nor was she putting on a show for the crowds. This was her, raw and unbridled, unable to contain herself. She wasn’t trying to seize the stage, she was trying to share her happiness. She was blessing the waiting room with her genuine joy, gifting a glimpse of her soul as she worshipped a goddess in her own life. As she praised the lives growing.
“Six fucking pages.” The doctor whispered as he drew closer, bending down to slide the documentation to the Secretary and keep his words private.
“That woman took six pages of notes. If only all the expecting fathers were as dedicated.” He elaborated, earning a gentle chuckle from the Secretary. The woman gazed into the doctor's eyes for a moment, reading everything he hadn’t said. She watched, assessing for a few moments before accepting the files.
“Miss Wren better put a ring on that girl. They’re perfect together.” The Secretary commented, earning a sound of agreement from the doctor.
Quietly, she flipped to the page, pausing at the yellow sticky dot in the corner. The doctor simply nodded, confirming her thoughts with a smile so large it looked as if his aged face might split in two. The Secretary’s heart almost burst as she worked her nails beneath it, picking and plucking until the label came free. Nothing honored her as much as when she worked it into a nasty ball, then flicked it from her nails straight into the trash. Right where it belonged.
Onyx Wren wasn’t in danger any longer.

When one read the comic books, being a teenage hero was a helluva lot easier than it was.
Spiderman didn’t have to watch his grades gradually plummet with each “emergency” meeting the Avengers set up for him. Nor did he have to turn in half finished homework because he forgot to do it when he ran off to handle a Behemoth of a beast. It was smooth sails for the likes of some friendly neighborhood vigilante.
Badd wished it was that simple.
He couldn’t complain it was all that rough. Kids at school knew of his devestating strength, so much so that a few would text him about a monster nearby. At times, he’d handle a monster in exchange for a free tutoring session for a class he was struggling in. It was a fair exchange, a life for a decent test grade.
Some people at school would greet him, but he was hardly popular. If anything, he was just as good as company as a cardboard cut out. Someone to briefly pause what he was doing to stoically pose for a photo-op. Though, some people just assumed he wasn’t as friendly as the stature he put on.
“Badd, right?”
His brow arched, momentarily breaking the signature snarl he naturally adorned (it wasn’t a scowl, it was just his face). The voice came from a girl who’s face was speckled with a constellation of freckles. He knew of her, that she was a new transfer student from H-City, but he never got to know who she really was.
“Ya know anyone else that looks like me?”
“Yeah,” the girl remarked, “hate to say it but a pompadour isn’t exactly a unique feat of yours.” Despite his frown, she went on to resume, “I was gonna ask if you had a spare hair tie.”
Out of all the things she could have asked him to do, she asked for a meager hair tie. She might as well have asked a practical mountain of a man to do her makeup. What an odd thing to ask, “how the hell do ya know I even have one??”
What should have been a snide remark about how he always had a spare hair tie for his little sister was accented with a shrug, “The girls in my track team say you do. I don’t mind using my shoelaces though—!”
“Ya can do that??” He implored as he surrendered the hair tie that was nestled within his pants pocket, “wouldn’t it be flying out of yer hair or somethin’ ?”
“You just have to know how to tie it,” after she briefly gave her thanks, she secured her dark hair within a high-ponytail. After a beat, she made a full presentation of the bun atop of her crown. “Ta-da! How does it look?”
“Like a pineapple.”
What insult would have made girls scoff or bark out a bigger insult at him only prompted a wrinkle from the girl’s nose as she laughed. Her grin radiant, almost contagious for a guy renowned for his intimidating glare. It didn’t take the girl long to skip back to her team—‘thanks Badd!’ She would chirp over her shoulder—and he offered a small wave of goodbye to her.
To say it had been the last time they spoke would have been a blatant lie. The girl, who’s name was revealed to be Hikari, would be variant in her greetings. Some days would just be utter small talk: ‘how are you?’ ‘Fine, you?’ ‘Could be better,’ and other days would be exclusively full of excitement. Most notably were they the days that she had just finished her track season or after practice:
“—what I’m saying is that Ayame started acting funny when she dropped the baton,” Hikari said as the two of them sat along the edge of the rooftop during lunch. Her brows furrowed as she plucked a piece of grilled salmon out of her bento box and set it over for Badd to eat.
“Ya still won though, right?”
“Yeah, but it was like something startled her? I can’t say what exactly, but she got a little frazzled after the tournament,” she hummed as she pursed her lips, “maybe ‘m overthinking it.”
“Ya gotta bad habit of that,” he quipped as he took a bite of the surrendered salmon, “she prolly jumped cus she dropped it.”
As it turned out, that wasn’t wholly the case.
The more he talked to Hikari throughout the months in school, the more exposure he got from Ayame. How she often would ask for one of her friends to come with her to the bathroom or how she would stay longer than an hour or two after practice. He wasn’t a psychologist, but Hikari’s concern became more understandable.
Once he was invited to eat lunch with Hikari and her track team, that was when he met Ayame.
As always, Hikari was rather jovial with introductions. Her excitability practically lightened the mood, even when some girls felt a little unnerved to be around a guy who could easily crush a monster’s skull with an indestructible weapon. Those girls he left very well alone for their comfort. The others were met with his gruff nature, he wasn’t sure whether Hikari told them he had a soft spot or not, but Ayame was the one who stood out the most.
The girl was kind and soft-spoken. She loved talking about her cat named Sakusa and she couldn’t help but find pictures of Tama to be an absolute delight. Though, Badd couldn’t lie, Sakusa was just as adorable.
The thing was she couldn’t afford to look him in the eye, nor could she barely manage a tone beyond a small murmur. When Badd would growl out a ‘huh??’ over a mean jest, she would flinch instinctively. Such a response evoked a small ‘sorry’ from the bat-wielding hero.
Lunch became rather awkward between them after that. Fortune came in Hikari’s emotional intelligence, otherwise Badd would have tried to make some means of dramatic compensation. He picked up a giant bouquet of roses for Zenko’s concert when he missed her piano recital once.
It wasn’t until school was no longer in session that he caught a glimpse of Ayame retreat to an older man. Her arms folded across her chest, though the heightened bark of the man made her flinch once more.
The man could have blended in well with the white collar types: nicely trimmed suit, slick back hair and an expensive pair of gloves that would have made Amai Mask green with envy. Their insignia was rather reminiscent to a bamboo lily.
He didn’t just have money, he had money to buy himself out of consequences.
By now, the grip around his signature bat became rigid in a white-knuckled grasp. His storm merely accented with a twirl of his instrument to rest atop of his broad shoulder.
“—and I told you to do the dishes!” The older man exasperatingly barked, “the hell were you doing??”
“I just...” Ayame paused as she shuffled closer to the masonry, “I h-had practice okay? It’s not a big deal—“
“It is a big deal!” His voice was now a tornado that swam tension within the air. His face was beet red and his fists practically quivered from the intensity of his own storm, “I had my fuckin’ brother over and—!”
Without a hint of hesitance, Badd rammed the hilt of his bat directly into the man’s diaphragm. The sheer velocity of his strength evoked a shriek from Ayame and a wheeze from the stranger. Had he known he shattered a rib or two, he probably would have offered a menacing simper.
“Do Yer own damn dishes next time,” when the man attempted to scramble to his full height, Badd hadn’t hesitated to step in front of Ayame. It wasn’t everyday he handled an abusive shithead, but they were marginally easier to handle than a stray papermache volcano come to life.
As the man scowled, his glare dripped over to Ayame, “this isn’t over—!” Once the threat had seeped, Badd simply let his metallic instrument slam into the concrete. A cobweb of weight bloomed under the strain.
“You bet Yer ass it is,”
This was a monster, no doubt, but he had heard from Daichi that some monsters liked to isolate their victims. Norte dam syndrome or something like that. As soon as the man retreated, Ayame began to present signs and symptoms of that.
“He wasn’t going to hurt me,” her voice was distant compared to the staggering man who retreated with a very polite warning. “He was just being an ass, okay? You didn’t have to do that.”
“I know what bein’ an ass is,” Badd scoffed, “and that wasn’t it.”
Being an ass meant Hikari poking fun of Badd crying in the middle of Zenko’s piano performance or Badd poking fun of Hikari not knowing how to do algebra, but being able to chemistry. Neither of them would have dared to clench their fist at the other, let alone make the other flinch in response.
Ayame only shook her head, “no, he just... he didn’t mean it.”
“ ‘s that what he tells ya?”
“Of course not, I—“ she sighed, her small shoulders slumped when she practically hung her head, “look, I know you’re supposed to be a hero, but he’s just a guy. You must have bigger priorities, right?”
Bigger priorities meaning bigger monsters; nothing like the abusive asshole nextdoor. Badd couldn’t help but wonder if that was really what being a hero meant to these people, that they were just as fictional as their comic book alternatives.
Whether the answer was blatant or not, it didn’t matter, “I don’t want ya gettin’ hurt, so call Hikari and stay with her, alright?”
“W-What are you gonna do??”
Badd simply unbuttoned his uniform jacket and let it draped over his shoulders.“ ‘m gonna go be a hero.”

It was a slow day at the notorious deadman detective agency. The gentle hum of the fan being the only company the detective had, among the various files of cold cases he tried to decipher in his day off. He didn’t mind the breaks, rather he milked them as often as he could, but they could be rather tedious at times.
Fortunately, his answer came in the form of his phone vibrating against the table. The caller ID consisted of a simple “Badd”. Chances were that the kid needed someone to pick up his sister or ask about homework he didn’t understand.
“Well, good afternoon to you too,” Daichi hummed leisurely.
“Ay, real quick!” If Badd hadn’t been huffing so much, he wouldn’t have assumed the intensity of the situation required a running start, “ya know anyone who’s got a flower on their gloves?”
There was a pregnant pause when Daichi tucked the phone along his shoulder. What sprawled evidence files had been tucked into their respective cabinet drawers, yet there wasn’t anything that could have resembled a nondescript flower. Aside from the insignia a murderer had carved into the wood of his victim’s furniture.
“What kind of flower was it?”
“Iunno??” Badd grunted, seemingly vaulting himself over a fence from how the chains rattled under his weight, “like a Lily or somethin’ ??”
Had his blood not been lethargic like tar, it would have ran glacial through his veins. He never quite noticed how reminiscent it was to a lilac flower, only that it was scrawled and messy. Though, it would have been a bold assumption to make Badd would keep him alive, “You’re planning on going after him, aren’t you?”
“Yep!”
He figured.
Hastily did Daichi retrieve his beige coat and slid his arms through the sleeves, “don’t do anything like kill him. I’ve been looking into cases like—!”
“Ah, I gotta go. I think I see him!”
“Badd, wait-! Wait, did you hear—?!” When the line was cut off to evoke a triad of monotonous beeps, Zombieman hissed a curse under his breath when he rushed to grab his keys and head to C-City. He didn’t even bother to shelf his evidence back when he bolted out the door.
Kids, he swore...

Hello, friends! This is a piece written for @itsaconquestofimagination in celebration of Eid al-Fitr. It’s been more than a year since I’ve written any fic, so I’m still shaking some rust off. I might continue it in the future as a multi-chapter piece in the near future.
~1800 words, sfw, fluff
                __________________________________________
7:59
You impatiently tap your fingers on the counter, watching the tiny screen of your phone as the time glows brightly on your phone screen. You made sure to straighten up your tiny living room, clean out the horribly decayed food in your fridge left by your roommate, bring out the fourteen empty mugs piled up in your room.
Footsteps.
You couldn’t help but smirk a bit as he walked onto your porch. You’d recognize his gait anywhere: heavy, smooth, purposeful. He stopped at your door, and there was the slightest moment of silence.
8:00
The doorbell rang. Kylo was always precisely on-time, a trait encouraged by his mother, and later beaten into him by Snoke. You answered the door with a bit more enthusiasm than you intended, cheeks burning. “Kylo!” you beamed, beckoning him inside.
“Hey, (Y/N),” he said pleasantly. He gave you a warm smile, but you still saw the tiredness in his eyes. He stepped into the tiny apartment, ducking a bit to keep his head from brushing against the doorway. He had his hands stuffed deeply in his pockets, a nervous habit of his, as he stood by the tiny kitchen counter.
You went into your refrigerator and pulled out the Brita filter he bought for you when you first reconnected, when you first moved into the apartment. You weren’t too fond of using it everyday, but you always made a point to use it whenever he was over. “So, Kylo Ren, what brings you here on a Sunday?” you ask, pouring a couple glasses of water and handing him one. Normally, his Sundays were reserved for late-night family dinners. Tense, passive-aggressive, uncomfortable family dinners, minus one ‘mysteriously disappeared’ father.
“Well, I thought that since Eid starts tomorrow—”
“Eid ends tonight, actually,” you said, bringing the glass to your lips.
“Oh,” he muttered nervously, looking like he missed the date for an important exam. “Uhm…” He cleared his throat, redness burning across his face, unable to meet your amused gaze. “So, Wikipedia lied to me…”
You snorted into your water, nearly choking with laughter.
Kylo stood silent, taking a moment to work his nerve back up after his blunder. “Uhm, your… the fasting is over though, right?”
You nodded.
“Great!” He smiled in relief, his plan getting back on track. You couldn’t help but smile with him. You loved the way his dark eyes lit up, the temporary disappearance of the otherwise permanent fatigue etched on his scarred face. “Since your family is too far away to visit, I thought we could go ou—” He cut off, losing his nerve for just a moment. “Uh, I thought we could have a little celebration of our own.”
Your heart fluttered. “And, uh, what did you have in mind?”
He cleared his throat. “Well…I thought I could take you to your favorite restaurant.”
You cocked your head a bit. It was a lovely offer on his end, but Dex’s Diner was a nearly two-day drive—you’d definitely need to cut class to make it, and that wasn’t something you were willing to do. Well, maybe you’d make an exception for Kylo…
“They just opened up a new Dex’s nearby,” he said, a slight eagerness creeping into his voice. “It’s only a couple hours from here.”
“Really?! Where?”
“Inside Disneyland.”
You gasped in delight, absolute joy spreading across your face. He grinned; his ears reddened behind his thick, plushy hair. “So, I’ll pick you up tomorrow?”
“For sure!” You paused. “You’ll still hang out tonight too, right?”
“Absolutely.”
                                                            ***
Kylo had a tendency to switch between suave and painfully awkward. You, however, had quickly grown quite comfortable in his presence, cozy, so you found the morning car ride to be quite lovely. The two of you rode in tranquil silence, simply enjoying each other’s company.
After getting out of the car and stretching your legs in the parking lot, you started packing your bag for the trip—or in Kylo’s case, stuffing his oversized pockets with loose change, breath mints, his wallet—and a knife. “Kylo Ren,” you said gently, unable to suppress an amused smile. “You can’t take your switchblade into Disneyland.”
“It’s not a switchblade. It’s my asthma inhaler.” He gave you a mischievous wink and you couldn’t help but smile a bit as he slipped it into his pocket.
Sure enough, the bag checker pulled him aside after he emptied his pockets.
“I’m sorry sir, but unfortunately you cannot take a weapon into the park,” she said flatly.
“It’s actually my asthma inhaler.”
“Oh. Yes, of course. My apologies.” The checker handed Kylo the knife, much to the horror of a nearby group of moms. “Enjoy your visit!”
                                                           ***
Kylo reserved your seats nearly two weeks in advance, so you were able to completely bypass the line that stretched nearly fifty people, smiling sweetly at the glaring faces you cut in front of. The two of you sat right beside the pond, filled with ducks and little turtles.
“Hello! I’m Lewy Mitaka and I’ll be your server for the evening,” the tiny waiter chirped pleasantly, placing a large platter of hummus, muhammara, and hot pita bread on the table. “What would we like to drink?”
“Mango sharbat, please,” you said sweetly, “Light ice.”
“Just water for me,” he grumbled, not looking up from the menu. He glanced at his watch: 11:45. “(Y/N), are you ready to order?” he asked you, his voice noticeably softer when addressing you.
You nodded. You’d memorized the menu years ago; you could recite it in your sleep. “Lamb quzi, please. A side of rice biryani, and some honey halva,” you said, handing over the menu.
“I’ll have that, too. It comes recommended from a good friend.” He winked at you, causing you to turn beet-red, and Lewy smiled as he scribbled on his little notepad.
“Okay! We’ll have your food out very soon. Enjoy your visit to the park.”
The food arrived in less than fifteen minutes, and the smell alone triggered a loud growl in your stomach. Kylo somehow timed everything perfectly, like he always did. He bounced slightly in his chair, excited to eat, always ready to eat, but he waited, his soft brown eyes focused on you, as if he was waiting for a cue.
You cleared your throat, blushing with his gaze held so intently on you. “Yes, Kylo Ren?”
“Uhm, I know you’ve told me this before. There’s a little thing you say sometimes. You know, before you eat.” He was always eager to learn, even before he met you. It was so different to the emptiness he was raised on, the darkness under Snoke’s thumb. There was so much richness to it, so much community and joy.
“ I say ‘Bismillah’,” you said warmly.
“Bismillah,” he said slowly, cautiously, the phrase flowing smoothly on his tongue. “Bismillah,” he repeated. The smile he gave you was almost enough to make you fall out of your chair.
The food was fantastic, as always. Kylo was quick to jump to the main dish, but you saw his brow furrow as his Mickey Mouse knife failed to cut through the tender quzi. “Damnit, these knives are so dull,” he growled, furiously sawing at his lamb to no avail. He whipped out his switchblade and started cutting through the meat with relative ease, much to your amusement.
Lewy walked up to your table, nervously clutching a stack of menus to his chest. “Excuse me, sir, is that a pocket knife?”
“It’s my asthma inhaler,” he said flatly, still slicing up the meat.
“Ah.” Lewy relaxed his shoulders. “My mistake. Please enjoy the rest of your meal.”
With your stomach nearly bursting, you two decided that it would be best to avoid any tumultuous rides. Thunder Mountain was a short walk away, so the two of you queued up behind a father glued to his phone and his little son, no older than four. The boy was trotting up and down the line, boisterously greeting any stranger who would acknowledge him. He made his way to you and Kylo and held up his battered Batman toy, one of its ears broken off. “Lookit Batman!” he squealed. Kylo couldn’t suppress the ghost of a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth and gave the child a curt nod.
As you moved up in the line, you came to stand inside the fake cave behind the deafening waterfall. You leaned on the slippery railing, watching the falling water. Despite the noise, you found it comforting, almost hypnotizing, and it blocked out the sounds of screaming children. Kylo leaned beside you, but his movements were a bit more hesitant than usual.
You kept your eyes on the waterfall, but you focused on Kylo slowly edging toward you. Yes, you thought to yourself, your pounding heart leaping into your throat. You were careful not to turn your eyes on him, not wanting to spook him. Yes, yes, it’s happening. He was less than a couple inches from you, and you saw him raise his hand, hover it slightly over yours. Yes yes yes—
“Escue me!”
Kylo yanked his hand back and whipped around, startled by the child standing at his feet.
Nooo, you thought bitterly. Evil child, evil…
The little boy turned his head this way and that, gaping at Kylo’s scar, completely mystified. “Mister, what happen on your face?”
An evil smirk crept across Kylo’s lips. “I got attacked by the vampire hiding in this cave.”
The child started howling, his echoing screams bouncing off the cave walls and scaring everyone in line, and latched onto his father’s leg. His father, unable to pry him off, awkwardly limped out of line with the dozens of glaring faces following him out.
You leaned against the railing—now a little closer to the front—and Kylo joined you once again. He cleared his throat, keeping his eyes locked on the water. Despite the noise, you could hear him clearly—his voice could cut through anything, another one of his uncanny traits. “Remember when I said I wanted to start a Quranic class?”
You nodded. It was just last week. When you were younger, when he was full of life and love and curiosity, he was always asking questions, always wanting to learn, to connect. And now, after all this time, you could see it returning.
“Well, registration opened up a few days ago, so I signed up for the intro course. I start on Tuesday.”
“Kylo, that’s fantastic!” you beamed.
Warmth fluttered in his chest, and the two of you fell into a comfortable silence, watching the waterfall. From the corner of your eye, you could see him cautiously edging closer to you. You chose not to react just yet, not wanting to risk frightening him. Slowly, delicately, he put his enormous arm around your shoulder. You leaned fully into his embrace and held his other hand against your cheek, relishing his warmth against the chilly air.

The Tale of Astoria Kenobi [Chapter 1] [Obitine and Anidala featured] [Dad!Obi-Wan/Daughter!OC]
I hope you guys like it!
I'll put the same disclaimer I did last time; I am not an expert at all things Star Wars. I'm sorry if I make any mistakes but I'm still learning. Just bear with me. I did so some research to make sure I had the basic timeline right before I got too far into this story though.
Alrighty! This Right Here is the prologue to this story for those who haven’t read it yet.
Now for the taglist: @elite-guard-hardygal, @forcearama (who created the Scandalore/Secret Marriage AU I’m using), @sunshineisdelightful, @fwtcanimelover, and @babycollectiondragon135! Thank you all for being so amazing and supportive! :)
One more thing; Would y'all be mad if I started writing in 1st person from Astoria's point of view? I just realized that doing 3rd person will get a bit difficult.
Also, um...does anyone have scene suggestions for the ten-year gap between this and Attack of the Clones? Cus, looking at the timeline of everything, that's how long it takes to get from this point we're at currently (not long after Phantom Menace) to Attack of the Clones.
Anyway, I'm gonna let you guys read the story now and hope you all enjoy!
God Bless and Good Day!

“Can you believe it?” Satine murmurs, settling her few bags down in the room she’d been loaned. It was rather small and spartan, but Satine had known far harsher living environments and couldn’t complain.
Obi-Wan smiles. “Indeed. The Counsel are rarely so conceding.”
“They even allowed me all day tomorrow to make absolutely certain Astoria will adjust well to life here.”
“Yes, though they more than likely expect the generosity returned, should we have need of it.” Obi-Wan points out sagely.
Satine nods. “Oh, I’m well aware. We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. Perhaps, dear, you could request to be given assignments to Mandalore? Since you're the most...experienced in Mandalorian affairs?”
Obi-Wan smirks, rising to her challenge.“Darling, is this your way of saying you want me home more often?”
“’More often’ implies you’re at home sometimes.” Satine snips, crossing her arms and looking away petulantly, though she wasn’t truly angry with him. The mood shifts regardless and Obi-Wan gently spins her to look at him.
“Satine...you know I would never stay away intentionally.”
“I know, Obi-Wan, but..." Now that Satine had said those words aloud, she realized she did mean them, angry or not, "surely you could manage a few visits? Astoria gets to see you so rarely...she misses you.”
“I miss her more.” Obi-Wan replies softly, easing Satine’s hair from her face. “And you, as well. I meant to leave, you know. But…” The unspoken words ring in the air as if they’d been verbalized.
Obi-Wan would never abandon Anakin, and Satine would never ask him to.
“I know, Obi-Wan.” Satine rubs his arm comfortingly. “I know.”
The pair are content to simply hold each other then, the door shut against any surprise visitors.

Astoria was nervous, fiddling with the sleeves of her Jedi robes.
She liked her new clothes, plain though they were. They were fairly soft and comfortable, if a little thick for the warmth in the Temple.
The reason she was nervous was that she was waiting outside a chamber Uncle Obi told her his superiors were in.
When she asked what ‘superiors’ were, Obi-Wan had explained that they were the ones that told him where to go and what to do.
And Astoria was going to meet them!
“Don’t worry.” Came a voice behind her, and Astoria turns to see a young boy, not much older than her, standing there smiling. “The Counsel don’t do much. They just ask a lot of questions and sit there.”
Astoria feels a little better, returning the boy’s smile as she extends a hand in greeting. “Thanks. My name’s Astoria Kryze.” She introduces.
The boy shakes her hand. “Anakin Skywalker.” Astoria decided she liked this boy, though he was older than her.
From around the corner came Obi-Wan, having finished whatever had called him away. He smiles in greeting at the two. “I see you two have met. Good.”
Astoria grins. “Yeah!”
Obi-Wan crouches before his daughter, absently straightening her robes. He felt a mixture of pride and sadness that his child was already wearing the Jedi robes, hardly remembering that she was older than most Younglings when they were brought to the Temple. “Now, Astoria, just be polite and everything will go smoothly, alright? No need to be nervous.”
Astoria feels her stomach swirl a little as her nerves started to come back, but felt them leave again when her uncle squeezed her hand and stood up, smiling at her.
Without another word, Obi-Wan hit the button to tell the Counsel they were waiting, and soon enough a deep voice inside told them to enter.
=#=#=#=#=
“Should I be concerned our daughter has such a penchant for fighting?” Satine asks coyly.
The settling of Astoria in the Temple was going rather smoothly. Astoria took to life in the Temple like a duck to water, though Satine suspected her departure for Mandalore the next morning would spell trouble.
Obi-Wan chuckles, distracting Satine from her thoughts. “Darling, she is Mandalorian.”
“Half Mandalorian.” Satine corrects, playfully smacking her husband’s shoulder.
“True, true.” Obi-Wan side-hugged his wife, watching with a large smile on his face, though the smile faltered when he saw that she seemed genuinely a little concerned. “It’s alright, Satine.” He assures her, “She’s just begun her training. She won’t have these violent tendencies for long.”
Directly down the hall from them, Astoria was playing with Anakin. Their playing had quickly dissolved into wrestling and Astoria tended to use more aggressive strategies, Satine noticed.
The thing stalling the adults from intervening was the laughter ringing in the hall.
Anakin had not had it easy in life and Obi-Wan was rather hesitant to stop his Padawan’s fun.
Obi-Wan recalled the meeting with the Counsel not two hours ago. Astoria had charmed the Jedi almost immediately and performed remarkably well on the small tests Mace Windu gave her.
Obi-Wan had even had the fortune of putting the braid in Astoria’s hair himself, missing Fisto’s smirk entirely as he worked.
No one else had said a word when Mace Windu asked who would braid the new Younglings hair, so Obi-Wan came forward, motioning his daughter to him and beginning the braid, instructing her to remain still.
“I am almost sad, seeing the braid in Astoria’s hair.” Satine muses, sighing. She had smiled and encouraged Astoria when the girl proudly displayed it for her mother, but Satine’s heart clenched knowing what that braid meant.
“And yet it means hope.” Obi-Wan reassured Satine, rubbing his wife’s shoulder comfortingly, “She won’t be far out of either of our reach here, darling.”
Satine nods. “Of that, I am certain. But...I won’t get to see her grow up.”
A teasing smirk reaches Obi-Wan’s face and he chuckles. “Now you know what I went through.”
Satine whirls to glare at him, drawing away from her husband's side. “Oh, really, Ben! The nerve!” He knew then that, though her tone and body language conveyed annoyance and perhaps a bit of anger, she was teasing on the inside. She only called him Ben when she was teasing him.
“I have plenty of nerve, my dear.” He counters, daring her to continue their game as he grabs her hips to draw her back in.
Instead of replying, she kisses him boldly on the lips. It’s only through the Force that Obi-Wan had enough warning to withdraw reluctantly from Satine and call for Anakin before Plo Koon rounded the corner.
As a result, the approaching Jedi saw nothing but the children halting their wrestling match and the adults taking the children’s hands. If it weren’t wearing the rebreather, everyone would see his smile as he watches Astoria take her mother's hand.
So this was the new Youngling. He’d been en route to Coruscant when she’d been given her braid, watching her through a hologram as Obi-Wan volunteered to braid the girl’s hair. It was one thing seeing her in a hologram, it was quite another thing seeing her physically.
“Pardon the intrusion.” Plo Koon calls. “I was on my way to the library.” Astoria loved libraries and runs over, still riding the adrenaline of nearly winning her match against Anakin.
“Library?” She asks eagerly, bouncing in front of the Kel-Dorian, who takes her youthful giddiness in stride. “Can I come with you?”
“Yes, little one.” Astoria squeals in delight and before Satine can scold her, Plo Koon takes her hand and guides the excited child down the hall.
Anakin goes to catch up to his new friend, not for the destination, but because he liked her company already and didn’t want to say goodbye yet.
Obi-Wan and Satine follow in the rear, their hearts singing with joy that already their child was making friends.

Jocasta Nu was pleasantly surprised when Astoria walked up to her, now calm after a few words from Satine about behaving herself, and asked to see some maps of the galaxy.
“Well, dear, we have many maps. Are you looking for anything special?” Jocasta was slightly confused as there were no adults with the child, though she could hear people within the library. Luckily, Satine then came around a bend, spotted her wayward daughter, and approached the librarian apologetically.
“There you are, Astoria.” She takes her daughter’s hand. “Apologies, madam. She’s still young.”
“No need, Duchess.” Jocasta assures Satine patiently. “It’s not every day a Youngling comes in and asks to see maps.”
Satine smiles. “Yes, she is rather curious to see the galaxy. She’s never left Mandalore before.”
Jocasta offers her hand to Astoria and, after once more telling Astoria to behave herself, Satine allowed the kind librarian to lead her daughter away, staying where she was.
Satine was trying to ease Astoria into not needing to be around Satine as much as she could.  After seeing Astoria engrossed in picking out a map, Satine slipped out of the library to pack her things. Come tomorrow morning, Satine would no longer be allowed in the Temple.
Plo Koon, for his part, was watching Astoria with piqued curiosity. There was something about that girl...but he couldn’t quite place what it was.
He supposed he had plenty of time to figure it out and began the task that had led him to the library in the first place.
Obi-Wan helped Jocasta educate Astoria on the various planets the girl asked about and spent a pleasant half an hour this way before Anakin, bored of watching them, wandered off.
Obi-Wan then had to excuse himself. He had to be Anakin’s Master, not Astoria’s father, though he yearned to stay where he was.
Anakin was looking at records of various lightsabers. He still called them ‘laser swords’ and Obi-Wan had yet to fully iron out that habit.
The group spent a pleasant afternoon in the library while Satine, heart growing a little heavier with every item packed, was alone in her room.
She knew full well now that Astoria would be very happy here, would grow into a Jedi that would make her and Obi-Wan prouder than they already were, if that were possible.
And yet Satine would miss her daughter terribly. She knew there would be visits and calls as often as could be helped, but it wasn’t the same as having Astoria in the palace with her.
It never would be.
Obi-Wan found her nearly packed after escorting the Younglings to the evening meal. He’d slipped out with two portions, one for him and one for his wife.
He knew this was hard on her and regretted that he had to put his duties before his family. “Take a break.” He calls as he enters. “I brought food.” Satine turns and walks over, heart lightening a little at seeing him.
“Thank you, Master Jedi.” She says, glance teasing as she took her plate.
They sat on her bed and all was quiet for a few minutes. “Satine, I wish I could say it gets easier, missing her day in and day out, but I’d be lying.” He murmurs, knowing full well the source of the weight on her shoulders.
“How do you cope?” She asks miserably.
“You learn to treasure the moments you see them, hologram or in person, and memorize the little things, the tidbits that make the person who they are.” Obi-Wan says softly, wrapping an arm around Satine as she leans her head on his shoulder. “You memorize their voice and let the memories surface when you feel the loneliest.”
“Seems a rather dull way of life.”
“We’ve known worse.”
“That we have, darling.” Satine finds a small strength in that revelation. Yes, she had survived worse than separation from her daughter. "It’ll be a hard conversation, explaining all this to her.” Satine sighs, leaning on her husband for support in more ways than one, her head against his shoulder.
Obi-Wan nods, leaning his head against Satine's. “Yes. Do you want me there?”
Satine nods her head. “That might be wise. You are her father and a Jedi. You can explain the things I can not.” Her tone was sad, resigned. The matter of leaving Astoria and having to explain to her why Satine was leaving still weighed incredibly heavy on his mind.
“Satine, it’ll be alright. You’ll see.”
=#=#=#=#=
Astoria washes down her food with a few gulps of water, grimacing a little.
The food was satisfying to be sure, but it really didn’t taste like much.
Anakin told her he wasn’t overly fond of it, either, but it was better than what he had on Tattoine.
That prompted an eager discussion between the children about where they each were from.
That is, until Obi-Wan appeared and informed them it was time for evening meditation and bedtime. Anakin groans and heads off with the other Younglings they’d been eating with, but Obi-Wan grabs Astoria’s shoulder and silently leads her to Satine’s room. He’d talk to her about meditation later.
Astoria was wondering where her mom had gone, about to ask where she was when Obi-Wan came to guide her to Satine’s room after her bland meal.
It doesn't take long to get to the room.
“Hi mommy!” Astoria cheers, missing the sadness in Satine’s eyes as she hugs her mother.
“Hello, dear. Did you enjoy dinner?” Satine asks, settling Astoria beside her.
“No. It didn’t taste like the food back home.” Astoria replies, wrinkling her nose.
“Well, you have to get used to it.” Satine says gently.
Astoria wasn’t paying much attention; she was more concerned with why her mom’s bags were packed. “Are we going home already?” She asks. “We just got here!”
“Darling…” Satine winces, drawing Astoria into her lap. “You have to stay here. I have to go back to Mandalore.”
Astoria’s eyes go wide, head tilted in confusion. “But...but Momma, I thought…”
“You remember your mother telling you about my job?” Obi-Wan chimes in, feeling his heart ache at the troubled look on his daughter’s face and the sadness in his wife’s eyes.
“Yeah, but...Uncle Obi...that’s your job.” Astoria points out, not understanding why she was staying when her mother was returning to Mandalore.
“And you will be helping me.” He says.
Astoria frowns. “Really?”
“Yes, in a way. You will stay here, learning what the Masters teach you, and in time you will help me with my job.”
“But why can’t Mommy stay, too?” Astoria asks, lip trembling a little as the weight of what was happening was beginning to occur to her.
“Because, sweetheart, I don’t work here.” Satine explains simply. “It was through the kindness of the Counsel that I was allowed to come with you in the first place. But they can’t let me stay. This place...is special.”
“I’ll miss you.” Astoria whimpers, going to hug her mother tightly. “I don’t want you to go!”
“Oh, Astoria, I’ll miss you greatly, as well. But don’t lose heart; you can call me sometimes when you’re allowed. And maybe you can even visit me once in a while.”
“Really?” Astoria asks, hardly daring to believe it.
“Yes, Astoria. Now...I have a lesson for you before bedtime, alright?” Obi-Wan interjects, reluctantly cutting the moment short. Satine was well aware she was on limited time with Astoria, but smiles at her daughter encouragingly.
Astoria slowly gets off the bed. She then turns back around. “Are you leaving now?”
“No. I’m leaving first thing tomorrow.” That comforts Astoria and she hugs her mom again, kissing her cheek before leaving with Obi-Wan. The two are quiet as they walk toward her new bedroom.
It wasn’t far from Anakin’s, which would make it easier for Obi-Wan to check up on her when he could.
“What’s the lesson?” Astoria asks once they’re in her room.
“Sit.” Obi-Wan says simply and crosses his legs. Astoria grunts and struggles to get her legs crossed. Obi-Wan chuckles and leans over, helping her get into position.
“This hurts, Uncle Obi.” She grumbles.
“You’ll get used to it. Now, I want you to take deep breaths and close your eyes. Think of something that makes you feel at ease.”
Astoria tilts her head. “What does that mean?”
Obi-Wan reaches out with the Force, sensing her connection easily. It was turbulent and unruly, like most Younglings. She’d have much work to do calming this flurry of thoughts and emotions.
He helps her begin that process slowly, easing his way through the storm to the center. There, he calms the pulsing ball of energy he finds, very very slowly. If he dimmed the ball too much, he’d risk harming Astoria.
“Like this, young one." Obi-Wan says, eyes still closed. Astoria sighs contentedly, sudden exhaustion causing her to yawn.
“...I think I like this, Uncle Obi.”
“Good, remember how this feels, and try to quiet your mind even further.” Obi-Wan instructs, withdrawing his presence in his daughter’s mind.
“I don’t know how.” Astoria replies, coming back to her senses a bit and feeling embarrassed she didn’t know.
“It’s alright. Just breathe and relax. Don’t let your mind wander. Imagine putting it to bed.”
“...” There are several moments of quiet before Astoria groans, and Obi-Wan feels the progress he’d made vanish as she comes out of her attempted meditation. “It’s not working.”
“Patience.” He replies softly, his mind calming as he talks. “It doesn’t come without practice. Try again.”
Astoria does, with the same result, but Obi-Wan had felt a subtle change. It was clear she was trying, but she was still overthinking things.
He smiles at her and decides that was enough practice for tonight. “Alright, Astoria. Let’s go to bed.”
“But I didn’t do what you wanted.” Astoria protests as he helps her stand.
“That’s alright. You just started learning. No one learns meditation right away. I struggled with it, too, but with time and patience, I was able to master it. One day, you will master it, as well.” Astoria nods, going to brush her teeth.
“Can I say goodbye to Momma tomorrow?” She asks once she’s getting under the thin cover on her bed.
“Yes. I’ll wake you so you can say goodbye, but then it’ll be breakfast time and we’ll have to go eat.” Obi-wan explains.
Astoria nods, yawning. “Thanks, Uncle Obi.” She murmurs sleepily. Obi-Wan has to fight the urge to kiss her forehead. He knew better than to confuse the girl by being overly affectionate just yet.
“Goodnight, Astoria.” He whispers from the doorway, closing the door quietly and leaving.
=#=#=#=#=
“It was quite the honor, having you as our guest, Duchess.” Kit Fisto says genuinely, walking beside Satine on her way to her ship.
“And I am most grateful for the opportunity.” She replies, just as genuinely. “I don’t think I would have left Astoria here if I couldn’t see for myself what the Temple was like. When Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon were my protectors, Obi-Wan would describe his training as intense and the conditions in the Temple as spartan at best.”
“Perhaps he was exaggerating, or perhaps he assumed you were used to a life of luxury and thought the Temple would not suit you.”
“Perhaps.” Satine concedes, unsure herself what he had meant, but content with either explanation.
“If I may be frank, Duchess, I suggested your visit to let you see Obi-Wan again. I understand you two are...close.”
Satine’s heart skipped, but she remained calm outwardly. “Yes. A year on the run together tends to make people close.” She muses.
“I’m certain.” Is Fisto’s careful reply. He knew for a fact she was hiding just how close She and Obi-Wan were, but he was not willing to upset her by revealing he knew of their relationship. “If it helps at all, I will do my part to look after Astoria. I may not control which Master will one day train her, but I assure you whoever it is will take very good care of your daughter.”
“Thank you, Master Fisto.” Satine replies. She quite liked Kit Fisto. He was more approachable than other Jedi, more...relaxed and almost carefree.
By now, they were near her ship, and the pair turn when they hear running footsteps behind them.
“Astoria, wait!” That was Obi-Wan's voice, sounding far away, and soon enough, Astoria came into view, stumbling haphazardly around a corner and barreling toward her mother, eyes wide and desperate.
“Mom, don’t leave yet!” She cries, pumping her legs as fast as she could and it’s only through Kit Fisto kneeling and sticking an arm out that Astoria was prevented from knocking her mother clean over.
“You must learn restraint, young one. You would have hurt your mother running into her like that.” He cautions, letting Astoria go so she could jump into her mother’s waiting arms.
“Sorry, Master!” She squeaks with the good grace to look sheepish now that she had accomplished her goal.
She’d made it before her mother left. That was all that mattered to the girl.
Obi-Wan walks over, panting. “She just took off after I woke her up. She was so worried she'd miss you leaving.” He explains with no small amount of exasperation. Satine smiles.
“Thank you for escorting her, Master Kenobi.” She replies, refusing to acknowledge Fisto’s smile that seemed too knowing.
“Of course, Duchess.” The two then remember that they weren’t alone and walk to the ship, a respectful distance between them, Fisto trailing a bit behind, highly amused that they thought they were successfully hiding their feelings for each other.
Astoria didn’t move her head from her mother’s shoulder till they were at the landing ramp. It was so hard for Astoria to understand why she had to stay, but she had to say goodbye to her mother now. “I’ll miss you, momma.” She whimpers, sniffling and slowly leaving her mother’s arms when Satine hugs her again, kissing her daughter’s cheeks and forehead.
“Darling, you’ll see me again before you know it.” She insists, smiling sweetly at Astoria and gently lifting her chin so the child was looking at her. “Be strong, dear, and learn everything you can, alright?”
“Alright.” Astoria replies thickly.
Reluctantly, Obi-Wan calls her from his position a few feet away. “Astoria, come on. Your mother has to leave.” Astoria runs to her ‘uncle’, a few tears running down her cheeks. Out of sympathy, Obi-Wan crouches and lets Astoria hug him briefly as he waves to Satine subtly.
The ship then closes with Satine on board and Astoria sobs as Obi-Wan stands, unable to carry her and continue the comforting hug with Fisto nearby.
“Astoria, remember what your mother said. You have to be strong. No more tears.” Obi-Wan felt so proud when Astoria obeyed, wiping her eyes and squaring her shoulders.
“...Can I get some food?” She asks meekly. “I’m hungry.”

A Treat
Tumblr media
AN: So this little ditty is based off my head canon post. It’s more sappy stuff whoops. One day, I’ll write something that isn’t tooth rotting fluff lol. Hope y’all enjoy ^_^.
You get busy at work, which prevents you from celebrating Halloween like you’d want to. John has a trick up his sleeve.
TW: mention of someone committing sexual assault (not shown, just mentioned) Some mild swearing
Word count: 1842
 *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
When the phone rang and the obnoxiously bubbly ringtone filled the room, you couldn’t help but groan.
It was your boss calling.
John looked up from the book he was working on and you stuck your lower lip out in a pout. The corner of his mouth twitched in response.
Work had been an absolute nightmare lately and you knew deep down in your gut that this wasn’t going to be a great phone call.
“Hey Rob,” you huffed as you picked up the phone. You couldn’t conceal the disappointment leaking into your voice.
Rob was a gruff man. He cut right to the chase.
“I have another assignment for you.” You heaved a sigh and bit your lip. Of course he did. You stood up and crossed the room to your desk. Your laptop whirred to life when you opened the lid.
“Sure Rob. Hit me with it,” your laptop was moving glacially slow, but eventually it booted up.
“I’ve emailed you the details. Your deadline is the 31st,” he stated and you felt a pang of annoyance shoot through you.
“Halloween, Rob? Really?” you groaned “You know that’s my favorite holiday,”
“You agreed to this, chickadee,” he bit out gruffly and you had to grit your teeth together to keep from snapping at him for the asinine pet name. “You’re freelance for a reason.”
“Yeah, yeah, sure,” you grumbled in reply. You could hear the click of the receiver as he hung up. You rolled your eyes and tossed your phone down onto the table.
Asshole.
You pulled up your email and logged in. His lengthy message was in the top of your inbox. You chewed the corner of your thumbnail as you scanned over the details of the case.
“What’s he got you doing this time?” You were engrossed so deeply and John’s voice was so sudden in the silent room that you actually jumped a little. When you looked up at him, you could see amusement crinkling the corners of his eyes.
“Investment banker,” You replied. “He’s got me checking up on this guy, making sure his personal life is tip top.” You kept it intentionally vague. John could be a little… overprotective when he knew all the details. Knowing that this guy was a convicted rapist and had served time for beating his child would definitely not fly so well with John. He’d insist on coming with you and that made everything ten times more complicated.
John nodded and turned back to his book.
You watched him for a moment, admiring the way his thick, scarred fingers worked at the binding. You couldn’t help the warmth that spread through your chest watching your fiancée skillfully thread the pages.
You turned back to your work with a smile on your face, which unfortunately faded fast.
The details on this man were troubling to say the least. Three convictions for sexual assault, 2 years in East Jersey State. His money bought him a slap on the wrist, basically. You frowned and shook your head in disgust. The justice system was a farce. You found yourself falling down the rabbit hole looking into this dickhead. You were so enthralled with the information that John yet again managed to scare you.
“Guess that means you finally have to leave the dog alone,” he muttered after a few minutes. You brought a hand to your chest to try to slow down your heart and shot him a glare.
“Meatball likes it,” you retorted indignantly. John snorted
“No he doesn’t,” he replied without looking up from his work. You rolled your eyes at him.
“Yes he does,” You replied. “He was dashing in his devil costume last year, thank you very much,” John chuckled quietly and you found yourself smiling.
“You’re obsessed,” he stated flatly and you narrowed your eyes at him.
“You love it,” you teased and he smirked but didn’t reply. A comfortable silence passed between you.
“I’ll find the time to dress Meatball up, don’t you worry” you said after a minute though your heart wasn’t in it. The case Rob had thrown at you was very involved. Halloween was in two weeks and this was a job that would normally take three weeks or more. You looked over at the spiderwebs wrapped up the banister and sighed. You were glad that you had at least been proactive on decorating the house.
It’s September 21st, why are you decorating already? This is earlier than last year, John grumbled as he watched you flit about the house. It already looked like the Halloween store had exploded in here.
Have you met me, John? You teased as you clipped a small plastic skeleton to the ceiling fan.
He just rolled his eyes but you didn’t miss the smirk creeping across his face as he turned away. He had always expressed his indifference for the holiday and frankly, he often teased you lightly for your minor obsession. But he never stopped you or outright discouraged your enthusiasm, and for that you were thankful
You just hoped you’d be able to get enough done on the case to at least have your annual movie night
 *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Two weeks later, you slapped the file down on Rob’s desk with a triumphant smirk
“I really think you were trying to test me on this one, Rob,” you said cockily. “Here’s everything you need to know about the bastard,”
The older man flipped through the file with piercing eyes. After a moment, he set it down and grinned.
“Good work, kid.” You bit the inside of your cheek. You hated being called kid. To be honest, you hated every stupid pet name the man called you, but this job paid well so you held your tongue.
The man looked up at you and scratched his wiry gray beard in thought.
“To be honest, I didn’t think you were going to be able to do it in time,” he said and you felt a twinge of annoyance.
“Well then, you underestimated me,” the words leaked out before you could stop them.
The man let out a bark of laughter and you felt your stomach clench uneasily.
“I suppose I did,” he admitted amicably and the knot in your stomach uncoiled. From the drawer of his desk, he produced a thick envelope.
There it was.
“Here’s your pay, plus a little bonus for putting in the hard work at such a busy time,” he replied and passed the envelope to you. You took it but didn’t check the contents. The man had a peculiar affect and checking the amount would most likely upset him.
“Thank you, sir,” He nodded and turned his back on you, indicating that the conversation was over.
Not the most socially graceful dude, thought dryly to yourself as you stuffed the envelope into your bag.  Didn’t matter, though. Money was money. You left his office in a hurry.
By the time you got home to John, it was around 7 pm and it was just getting dark. You grinned when you noticed he had remembered to turn on the decorations on the lawn.
“John? I’m home,” you called as you walked through the front door. The house smelled strongly of pumpkin spice and you found yourself grinning.
From the other room came the skittering of paws on the floor and Meatball’s deep throaty bark of excitement. The noise almost entirely drowned out John’s response.
The skittering got closer and when Meatball eventually rounded the corner, you gasped.
“John you did not!” you cried out giddily as you laid eyes on the dog.
You don’t know what you loved more—the yellow and black jumper complete with a ‘stinger’ covering the dog’s tail, or the headband that wiggled wildly with every movement.
John had dressed Meatball up as a bee for Halloween and it was the cutest costume you’d ever seen in your entire life.
“Oh Meatball you look so good!” you cooed happily as you dropped to the floor to greet the dog. His little face lit up at your voice and the tail wag became a body wag. The puppy kisses were plentiful.
When John finally rounded the corner, you couldn’t help but grin up at him.
“Meatball hates it, huh?” you replied smugly from your spot on the floor. Meatball had crawled fully into your lap and was lapping at your chin.
John shot you a glare but his heart wasn’t in it. It was then that you noticed there was a white feather tangled in his hair.
“John… what’s in your hair?” you giggled. He stared blankly at you. You stood, crossed the room, and plucked it out and showed it to him.
He looked slightly sheepish.
“Ah… you’ll see,” he said. You grinned up at him and pressed a kiss to his lips.
“Thanks for dressing Meatball up,” you mumbled as you broke away. His smile was soft. He pressed another kiss to your lips.
“Follow me,” he said, taking your hand and pulling you into your living room. When you saw what was waiting for you, you almost shrieked in delight.
It was absolutely perfect. He had set out your regular Halloween spread, complete with your favorite bottle of red wine and rice crispy treats shaped like pumpkins. The television was cued up for a movie marathon. After a second you noticed that resting on the couch was a small set of bird’s wings and a headband of feathers, both clearly homemade.
You raised an eyebrow at him.
“The birds and the bees, John?” the corner of his lips quirked up and he snaked a hand around your waist.
“I figured you’d appreciate it,” he replied simply and placed a kiss on your cheek.
For a second, you had to blink hard and steel yourself to keep your watery eyes from running over. He had clearly put a lot of effort into this despite his indifference about the holiday. The emotion that hit you was almost overwhelming.
“Thank you, John,” you breathed. You wrapped your arms around his neck and melted into him. His eyes were soft as he looked down on you.
“You’re welcome, love,” he replied.
The kiss he gave you was slow, passionate, and absolutely toe curling. It took your breath away. His stubbly beard scraped against your cheek as he deepened the kiss. You gripped his shoulders harder to keep your knees from giving out. Kissing him was like visiting the gates of heaven. You could have gotten lost in that kiss forever.
Eventually, he broke it. You sighed breathlessly and pressed your forehead to his.
“Which movie?” he asked quietly, his voice a little strained. You smiled, knowing it was a pointless question.
“Hocus Pocus, of course,” you replied, intertwining your fingers with his. “But first…”
You tugged at his hand and he started to follow you.
“There’s something we should take care of before the trick-or-treaters show up...” you cooed demurely as you pulled him past the couch and towards your shared room.
The smile on John’s face was intoxicating.
It was truly going to be a perfect night.

Hope. An eager sort of anxious anticipation shuddered in your fingers as you gripped the barricade railing. The hall buzzed with an energy so palpable, the fine hair on the backs of your arms stood on end. Fellow fans pressed in all around, their own little space of floor carved out for their spot amidst the tiny sea of bodies. As the house lights dimmed, the stage lights illuminated in their vast array of colors and shapes, and a crescendo of hundreds of voices filled the hall. Louden Swain took the stage as they always did and kicked off their set with Present Time.
They played favorite tunes and lesser known tracks, as well as their covers with other actors. Briana belted out a tune that showcased her vocals with her classic aplomb. Kim rocked the house, as usual. Matt, of course, couldn’t stand in a single spot his entire song. Ruthie in all her five-foot-three glory, danced as beautifully as she sang. And then there was Richard. Oh, Richard. With his big acoustic guitar and that gorgeous Tennessee twang, he could melt a heart with just one note.
You did your best to live in the moment, but with each song, that fervent expectation of what came next crawled up your spine and settled at the base of your neck. Part of it, you thought, had to do with your proximity to the stage—within arms’ reach of Rob and the rest. But the other part, the larger part, kept you on your toes the entire evening.
“We have a very special guest singing a couple songs with us tonight,” Rob started.
Your hope, it seemed, was about to pay off.
Rich leaned into his microphone and spoke. “Oh, we’re gonna let him out of his cage?”
“Something like that,” Rob replied. “Please welcome to the stage, the one, the only, Jensen Ackles.”
Louden Swain always earned a tidal wave of applause when they performed. But the roar, the deafening wall of sound that exploded from behind you put that to shame. Jensen crept out from behind a curtain on the stage, with his leather jacket and wide-brimmed hat, his perfectly tight jeans and shit-kickin’ boots.
“Thanks,” he mumbled into the mic. “Ready?”
Another burst of sound from the crowd blocked out the first set of elevens of Whipping Post. But when the cheers faded, that unique rhythm caught your hips in its steady rock beat, swayed from side to side. And Jensen’s baritone drowned out any other sound you might have heard, for his voice was the stuff of gods. He thumbed a boot in time with that smooth set of elevens—bless Gregg Allman for gracing the rock world with the 11/4 time signature—and damn it all to hell if you didn’t ogle Jensen’s bow legs.
S.O.B. followed, hot on the heels of Whipping Post. Those words in Jensen’s growl left you wanting more, bolstering your hope again for more of it later that evening. Amidst that hope, the whirlwind of music passed in such a rapid blur that Rob had cued the closer before you noticed. But with a quick sweep of the crowd, Jensen found you front and center, and as discreetly as possible, pointed stage right and mouthed, “Go, now.”
Through the throng you shouldered past your fellow fans, your space filled as soon as you vacated. To your left you pushed, side-steps bearing you slowly to the far end of the platform until you broke free of the mass of crowded bodies. There a Creation staff member stood and as you approached, smiled and asked for you name. When you gave it, she asked for an ID, and, after you flipped open your wallet, ushered you around the corner to the hallway behind the riser.
“I’m Sara,” she started as she held out her hand. When you took it, she said, “How long have you known Jensen?” she asked over her shoulder.
A quick lie took shape and you shrugged as you said, “Several years, now. Damn near a decade, actually.”
Face unreadable, Sara simply smiled as she led you around a corner. “Here we are,” she started as she unlocked a door and pushed it aside. “Welcome to the green room.”
She held the door aside as you stepped over the threshold. Though empty, the signs of life lay scattered about the room. Bottles of water at various levels of consumption littered every surface, as well as plastic cups, some empty, some containing hints of liquor. On the far wall, a table stood laden with beverages, liquor, beer, soda, and water, and a melting bucket of ice perspired on the end beside the cups.
“Folks will be back in a bit. Get comfy, help yourself to a drink.” She pointed at the table on the far side of the room laden with options. “Have fun!” she added with a bright smile as she slipped back through the door, a soft click following her.
What then? A drink? Maybe one or two would calm the creeping sensation beneath your skin. You headed for the table and snatched a cup from the stack, dropped in a single ice cube, and poured over it a generous amount of whiskey. The first sip warmed your tongue, slid down your throat, and settled in your belly as the door to the room burst open. You turned to find Rob leading his bandmates into the room, followed by the cast that had sang that night. Briana and Kim chatted excitedly while Matt and Ruthie continued singing the closer. Rich brought up the rear, face buried in his phone until Rob spoke.
“Hey,” he started as he crossed the room. “You’re Y/N?” he asked.
“I am,” you replied as you held out your hand, “I guess Jensen warned you?”
A bewildered shake of his head preceded Rob’s curious smile as he looked over his shoulder. Briana held back a laugh when Kim raised a brow at her. When Rob checked in with the others, they all shrugged. He turned back to you and said, “No, Sara only mentioned a gal with a backstage pass, although I didn’t know we did that here. So, you know Jensen?”
Your casual lie faltered, far too thin to work on Jensen’s actual friends. “Not… really.”
“Jared, then?” he continued as he reached for a bottle of water.
You struggled to find a response to that after memories of the previous night flooded your mind. “Yeah, we’re sort of acquaintances,” you said with a shrug.
“Oh, cool, for how long?” Rob continued.
“About…” you paused as you checked your phone, “36 hours.”
He laughed through his water, nearly spitting it out. “Are you—”
The door opened once more, and Jensen stepped through with Jared in tow. “Oh, awesome, they’re already picking on her,” he said over his shoulder. “Give it a rest, Rob.”
“What?!” Rob shrieked, “I wasn’t doing anything!”
“Uh huh, sure,” Jensen retorted as he neared you and wrapped an arm around your shoulder. “Alright, only time we’re gonna do this. This is Y/N, she’s a friend of ours. Cool?”
The others shrugged their agreement, and without another word, the afterparty started.
Long conversations led to stories about longer friendships, and as the minutes ticked by, the group eased in around you. They each took their time to talk with you, learning a little bit about you and eager to regale you with their favorite moments as a part of the family. Most common of all, though, was that each one of them shared a memory of Jared and Jensen being their incredibly kind and giving selves. And it was during those stories that you realized how damn lucky you were.
An hour had slipped by as you finished your drink, and Jensen took a queue from Jared. He stood from his chair and headed for the table, grabbing three bottles of water, and returned to the group as he spoke. “We’re off.”
“Boooo.” Rob’s hands cupped around his mouth and amplified his voice. Jared, much to your delight, flipped his middle finger at him for a laugh.
When you stood and followed Jensen to the door, Jared fell in behind you. The conversation picked back up and you thought yourself clear of any further teasing as you stepped over the threshold. That was until a catcall of a whistle pierced the din of the room. Jared did his best to push you onward, but as you turned over your shoulder, you caught a glimpse of Briana winking and Kim’s two thumbs up.
The door closed with a click and Jensen pressed into at your side. “I'm beat. What about you?”
“Exhausted,” you said. “Probably gonna pass out when I get back to my room.”
Jared's giggle from behind you drew your attention over your shoulder. His wicked grin and wandering eyes betrayed his indifferent shrug. His hands grasped your shoulders as he leaned into your ear and whispered, “I think Jen has other plans for the two of you.”
As you rounded the corner, Jensen slipped his arm around your waist and pulled you closer. You wanted to say something, anything, but dumbfounded excitement seized your tongue as you approached Clif at the end of the hallway.
“Hotel?”
Jensen nodded as he looked to you with a wicked grin. “Yeah. We're exhausted. Right, Y/N?”
“Yeah… exhausted.”

The New Guy: Chapter 4
By V.C. Turner
Mia scooted down in the front seat of her car so she wouldn’t get caught spying on you and the mystery man running his hands up and down your back. She knew she shouldn’t be doing it, but the view was a little too adorable to ignore.
Although she was happy for you, she felt a little upset that you hadn’t told her about the secret romance you had going on the side. She pulled out her smartphone and began to record the little interlude on the porch. She watched as the man pulled you closer and kissed your neck. She saw the far-away look in your eyes and pride swelled in her chest.
“Get it girl,” she said to herself, and then took a sip of the coffee she’d purchased on the way over.
Mia watched the hug young man gave you as he whispered in your ear and you smiled. Once she finally caught a glimpse of his profile, she realized that she should have recognized that square jawline from anywhere.
You were messing around with Sebastian!!!! She knew it!!!
“See, I called this shit from day one,” she said as she did a little dance in the car.
She almost felt guilty for gawking at the intimate moment, but she had to admit it was kind of sexy to be a voyeur.
Mia watched as Sebastian headed to his car only to run back onto your porch to hold you again. She held her breath when she saw Sebastian take a brief break from nuzzling your neck, and then he pressed his lips to your forehead, kissing his way down your face until his nose brushed yours.
“He’s gonna kiss her. He’s gonna kiss her!” Mia cheered quietly in her car. She aimed her phone at the two of you, zooming in slightly to catch the kiss on video.
When Sebastian’s mouth captured yours, Mia squealed with delight. Her little girl was growing up…. and you were going to provide all the details of why Sebastian was wearing his Friday work clothes on a Saturday morning as he stood on your porch making out with you.
After a few minutes, he reluctantly pulled away. Sebastian stroked your cheek and Mia sighed as she recorded the moment, knowing that she would probably play it at your wedding reception someday.
She saw Sebastian whisper in your ear and place his forehead to yours. She witnessed the final embrace you shared with him as he slowly backed away to get into his car and leave.
Mia waited a couple of minutes before she ran up to your door and knocked rapidly. She heard your footfalls approach and cued the video of you and Sebastian. As soon as you opened the door, she pushed the “Play” button.
 &*******&
You didn’t expect Mia for a few hours, so you hoped to get some sleep after Sebastian left. You still felt his lips on yours; the sensation burned into your memory. The feeling of his hands on your waist and your back continued to make you tingle. You missed him already. When you heard the knock on your door, it scared you a little, but when you saw Mia through the peephole, you relaxed.
Until you opened the door.
Your eyes widened as they fixed themselves on Mia’s phone, which had captured almost all of your exchange with Sebastian on the porch. While you knew the two of you were in public, you never dreamed that anyone would record it. For some reason, you believed no one would see it; much less someone who knew that you and Sebastian worked together.
You glared at Mia only to be met with tears of joy filling in your friend’s eyes.
“I’m so happy for you girl!” Mia said as she pulled you into a hug. She started to take a quick whiff of your shirt, then pulled away with a broad grin on her face.
“You smelling all like him and shit,” Mia continued, “Spill it because if y’all doing this mess out in the open, I can’t wait to hear what y’all did in here!”
You stepped away from Mia, but you weren’t able to hide the blush engulfing your brown face.
“Nothing else happened, Mia,” you said as you walked into the kitchen to grab a bottle of water.
Mia followed you, placing her things on your counter and sitting on the barstool.
“Plenty was happening out there on your porch,” Mia teased in her “I told you so” voice.
You took a deep breath before you delivered your explanation.
“Look, we just hung out and did a little bit of – friendly cuddling – that’s all,” you insisted, chugging your water and hoping she’d drop the matter.
She didn’t.
“That wasn’t just friendly cuddling on that porch,” Mia stated, “That was making out.”
“We were not making out!” you yelled, slamming the water bottle on the counter and spilling water in the process.
Mia’s look of shock snapped you back to reality. You anger surged forward faster than you could catch it. Having someone see you and Sebastian, much less film your intimate moment, did anger you more than you realized. That moment was yours. It didn’t belong to anyone else and having Mia record you made you feel more than a little exposed.
“Damn, girl!” Mia exclaimed as she pushed back from the counter.
You did your best to hold it together and give yourself time before you spoke.
“I know you meant well, Mia, but … you made a video of our first kiss. I didn’t want to share that with anyone other than Sebastian. I wanted it to be just his and mine – at least for a little while,” you explained.
The disappointment you felt matched what was reflected in Mia’s eyes.
“I’m sorry girl. I was just so happy for you that I didn’t think about anything else. I’m sorry,” Mia said. She walked around the counter and hugged you. Your emotions soon settled and you both walked to the sofa to talk.
“No. Don’t apologize. I’m sorry I yelled. All of this just caught me off guard, that’s all,” you explained.
“So…how long have you guys been dating?” Mia asked, “That is – if you want to tell me.”
“That’s just it,” you told her, “I don’t know what we are. We didn’t really discuss it. You know how people say things like ‘It just kind of happened.’ Well, that’s how it was. He took me to dinner after work, and then we came here. A little flirting happened then something fell and scared the shit out of me. I had a panic attack, so he agreed to stay with me for a little while. The next thing I know, we’re cuddling on the couch. Then we moved to the bedroom,” you said.
Mia’s mouth dropped open when you said the word ‘bedroom.’
“And?” she asked.
“And…we just got a little friendlier. He behaved himself for the most part though. It was just so nice,” you continued, remembering each kiss on the neck and each caress he gave you throughout the night.
“But the whole ‘we’re officially dating’ conversation didn’t happen?” she inquired.
You shook your head.
“I know he likes me. I know he probably wants to sleep with me, but guys are like that with me, sometimes. It’s easier to get into their beds than it is to get into their hearts,” you firmly stated.
Mia raised her eyebrows.
“I don’t think that’s it, (y/n). He seems too into you as a person. I don’t think he just wants a little sport nookie. I mean let’s be honest. He’s gorgeous. He can get that anywhere. What he’s choosing is to be with you because you’re beautiful, smart, and amazing,” Mia stated.
“Mia, he can have any woman he wants, so it makes no sense to pick me. No. Maybe I’m his pity fuck for the year,” you asserted, staring off into the distance.
“Girl, you need to stop that mess. You know he’s been going after you for weeks,” Mia asserted, “That boy’s been brushing off everyone’s advances because he only has eyes for you.”
“Then there’s something wrong with him,” you said.
Mia pushed your shoulder and as she did, your phone lit up. A new message came in…from Sebastian.
“Hey beautiful. I hope you’re sleeping. Wish I was there. Will you call me later? – S”
You smiled down at your phone, running your fingers over the words as if you were actually touching Sebastian rather than the screen of your iPhone.
Mia tapped your shoulder and you showed her the message.
“Girl, it ain’t even been what, an hour and he’s already missing you. That boy’s in love,” she said.
You shook your head. While Mia’s words did give you some comfort, all of it felt too good to be true. The last time you dated a man this handsome was in college, but back then you were skinny and you felt confident about attracting men like that. Your college romance ended in heartbreak for everyone. You didn’t believe you could date anyone that gorgeous ever again.
Now, with a few extra years and pounds on you, attracting men wasn’t so easy and you ended up dating people simply because they were interested in you; not because you were all that interested in them. There were times when you struggled to find an attractive feature on someone and, once you did, you clung to that feature as securely as possible.
With Sebastian, you felt even more insecure about where you stood with him. Yes, he’d kissed you. Yes, he couldn’t seem to keep his hands off of you the night before, but you couldn’t discount the possibility that he was just another horny guy interested in sex with a nice girl he thought would be an easy target.
Sebastian seemed nice; almost too nice. He had beautiful eyes, a perfect smile, a jawline made for royalty. You didn’t feel someone like that could truly fall in love with you, despite how he treated you the night before; or even how he’d treated you since the two of you met. You wanted to trust him. You really did and you had no logical reason to doubt him. But emotions are never logical.
“He’s not in love,” you asserted, placing the phone back on the coffee table.
“Wait, aren’t you gonna text him back?” Mia asked.
“Not yet,” you said as you bit your lip, “I don’t know what to say.”
Mia looked up at the ceiling as the thought about the right way to advise you on the subject.
“How about just sending him an emoji?” she asked.
You seriously considered this for a moment, initially believing that an emoji would not sound desperate – which is something you never wanted him to think. Then you realized that you were not one to play games with anyone. You wanted to be honest, but you also wanted to keep your emotions in check to spare your heart a little.
You picked up the phone and finally answered his message.
“Wish you were here too, handsome. I’ll call you after I get a little sleep,” you typed. You showed the test to Mia, who nodded her approval just before you hit the send button.
You placed the phone back on the table and turned to face Mia. The phone soon beeped again. You didn’t expect a reply so quickly and you were afraid to pick it up. You simply stared at the phone before Mia reached for it and handed it to you. Your heart raced as you opened the message from Sebastian.
There were no words just two emojis: The symbol for a kiss…and a red rose.
&*****&
Sebastian pulled up to the apartment building where he saw Anthony leaning against the brick wall of the massive residential complex. His friend approached the car and got in, huffing as he latched the seatbelt.
“Man, why are you this damn late?” Anthony asked. There was no anger in his voice; just frustration.
Sebastian picked up his phone and found your picture and then handed it to Anthony.
“She’s why,” Sebastian said.
Anthony whistled as he zoomed in on the picture and gazed at your features. He ogled you from your sparking eyes, to your full lips, to your angelic face, to your curvy body. Sebastian soon pulled the phone from Anthony’s hands.
“That’s enough looking,” Sebastian warned, “She’s my girl. You’ve got one.”
“I know. That doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate little Miss Curvalicious on your phone,” Anthony added.
“I just showed you that picture to prove that I’m a damn good friend for leaving HER to come get you, that’s all,” said a smiling Sebastian.
Anthony slapped Sebastian on the back.
“Your sacrifice is appreciated, man,” Anthony joked, “So when are you seeing her again?”
“If I had my way, I’d go back to her place right after I drop you off, but she didn’t get much sleep last night.”
Anthony elbowed his friend and they drove to the car dealership where Anthony’s car was being repaired.
“Damn. Wore her out did you?” Anthony joked, earning an angry glare from Sebastian.
“It’s not like that! She’s not like that!” Sebastian defended himself. He didn’t want anyone thinking you were just another notch on his belt. He wanted didn’t want a fuck buddy. He wanted a serious girlfriend. You were the total package and, as hard as it was, he was willing to wait to unwrap it.
“So, you and cutie pie just talked all night? Yeah right.” Anthony asked, pointing to the street where Sebastian would need to make a right.
“We didn’t just talk. There was some kissing too… I’m not saying anything else, except that I really like her,” Sebastian explained.
As the friends pulled into the dealership, Anthony exited the car then walked around to the driver’s side and leaned into the open window.
“Well, then go get your woman later. Maybe Mia and I can meet you two tonight and we can all hang out,” Anthony offered.
Sebastian thought about it for a moment. While he didn’t want to pressure you into something you weren’t ready for, he wanted you to know how he felt. The selfish part of him also wanted to give you as much PDA as possible.
“I’ll talk to her later and see what she’s doing, okay,” Sebastian added. He waved to his friend and pulled away.
As he headed back to his apartment, he resisted the temptation to drive past his place and head to yours. He wanted to see you again, but he knew you were sleepy. You deserved to rest. Still, the memory of you lying next to him was so fresh and so perfect. He had to at least text you; reach out to you in some way if he couldn’t touch you for real.
Sebastian pulled into the parking space in front of his home and sat in his car for several minutes. He sent you a text message and after you responded, he couldn’t wipe the smirk off of his face. He ascended the steps of his house, stripped off his clothes and fell onto his bed. For the first time since he purchased it, the king-sized mattress felt empty. Something was missing. You were missing.
In that moment, he decided that this would be the last time he crawled between those sheets without you lying next to him.
&****&
You went to bed after filling Mia in on the details from your night with Sebastian. She hugged you several times during your explanation. You were so glad to have someone in your life like Mia. She was the sister you always wanted; kind, outgoing, and fun to be around. You didn’t know what you would do without her in your life and you prayed you’d never have to find out.
You slept for three hours before your eyes popped open on their own. You showered and dressed in casual clothes, thinking of Sebastian and what you would say to him once you gathered the courage to pick up the phone and call him like you’d promised.
For some reason, you didn’t know what you wanted to say to him. You paced for several minutes before gathering the courage to dial his number. You were about to chicken out after the second ring, when you heard him answer.
“Hi,” he said, his voice sounding deep, but cheerful.
“Hey,” you said as you blushed. Why did you still feel nervous just talking to him on the phone? You were kissing him on your porch a few hours earlier and you continued to feel like a teenager experiencing puppy love for the first time.
Sebastian finally broke the somewhat uncomfortable silence.
“Did you get some sleep?” he asked.
“Yeah. I did. Thanks for asking. Did you get any rest?” you asked him.
There was a brief pause before he answered you.
“A little bit,” he said with what sounded like a hint of sorrow in his voice.
“Why? Do you have usually have a hard time sleeping during the day?” you inquired, knowing that many people can’t sleep when the sun is up, regardless of how dark they make their bedrooms.
           “No,” he said softly.
“Oh, no. Why not?” you asked him, finding yourself worried about him more than you expected.
“I just had a lot on my mind, that’s all,” he clarified.
“Anything I can help with?” you asked.
“Yeah, actually. I was wondering if you wanted to go out again tonight,” Sebastian said. You could almost hear the smile in his voice. You closed your eyes, wishing you could see it. The reservations you were feeling earlier dissipated a bit and you lost yourself in happiness of the moment.
“I’d love you – I mean, I’d love to,” you stammered.
           Several agonizing seconds passed.
“You love me?” he asked.
You began to panic. Your heart beat so hard in your ears that you didn’t even hear your own explanation.
“I’m sorry. I meant that I’d love to go out tonight,” you explained.
He chuckled softly on the other end of the line.
“Don’t be sorry,” Sebastian said, “Just promise me something.”
You took a deep breath, wondering what he had in mind and feeling a little nervous about what kind of promise he wanted you to make.
“What’s that?” you finally asked him.
“Promise me that the next time you say you love me, that it won’t be an accident,” he added.
You stopped breathing and swallowed hard. All of this was too perfect and too fast. You wanted to believe him, but you also needed to protect yourself.
“I think I can handle that. Although, I’m always nervous about being the one to say the ‘L’ word first,” you explained, hoping he would understand your caution.
“Don’t worry,” Sebastian said, “I’ll be the one to say it first.”

Masquerade
Hi! Sorry this took so long; a one-word prompt took me a sec to figure out, but it was fun to write. I wrote it in your RD AU. And for the art trade. I wouldn’t mind having"Laughter" illustrated or Coco!Krupp and CU arguing in their mind. Anyhoox here goes!
Sometimes, Red Diamond wondered if he had made the right choice. Saving all the life on Earth had been worth it, but he didn’t really have to cause the kind of pain he had to do so, right? Maybe not. He’d won, after all. The masquerade had been successful. But at such a high cost…
Be had started out the rebellion lying to other gems about his identity and his history; what would the point of a rebellion have been had the gems simply obeyed their Diamond? So the charade as Fire Agate had become the hope of the Defenders, leading them into battle as their equal instead of their dictator. But sooner or later, the masquerade would have failed; to have his Sapphire tell him that ahead of time was so helpful to him, as was the creation of the Fire Agate personality by Onyx, said Sapphire’s fusion with a Zircon he’d come to love as a son.
Fire Agate knew nothing of politics or lies. All he knew was that killing was wrong and the Diamonds were doing a lot of it. And that he looked really good in human underwear and a cape. So when he’d been told that Red Diamond has been destroying life on Earth (at said Diamond’s request), he’d been shocked and confused, wondering what to do. Red Diamond had smiled at that report and spoken softly, “Tell him to shatter me.” Fire Agate had never found out. Perhaps that was a good thing.
Zircon had been such a good sport about being poofed by his Diamond’s unstable split personality that he’d had a hand in forming. But of course, the other Diamonds hadn’t been. They had grieved more than Red Diamond had expected and unleashed the corruption, destroying the minds of every gem on the planet he’d torn himself apart to protect. And that had hurt. He’d tried to save them, but it had been a three Diamond attack, and he was only one. So he’d taken to poofing and bubbling them.
And the part that he loathed and loved equally? Soon, he wouldn’t be there to pick up the pieces anymore. He had a child on the way; a daughter with the most beautiful human woman he’d ever met- her name was Edith. That child would need a gem to live, so he’d have to give up his form to help her live. So he’d be masquerading as his own daughter. How ironic. The child, Harold had said wouldn’t gain her father’s memories, but his power. If she was anything like her mother, this was a good thing; her mother had always been a talker (which he appreciated about her). He wished he didn’t have to have his own daughter picking up the pieces of his mistake, but what else could he do? The child was already on her way. Heidi, he supposed, would be a nice name for her. But Edith deserved to name her. He, frankly, deserved a kick in the pants at best.
Sometimes, Red Diamond wondered if he had made the right choice, and weighing the pros and cons, he never could decide.
Hope you liked it! :)
I did! :)
I was just being random with that word. I wasn’t sure what kind of prompt and then I thought of that word from ‘Phantom of the Opera’ and threw it out for fun.
Ah so good! Poor Red Diamond! Though I admit gem reproduction confuses me (I get why the female gem would need to give up her form to produce a child, but would a male gem need to? (And why aren’t there any male gems/male sounding gems like Steven on the show?)) But this was a delightful surprise. :D
I got a drawing for you and it shall come out some time tomorrow. ;)

“Why be Sad When you can be Even Sadder?”, Part one
So this is a fanfiction I accidentally wrote that revolves around a particular headcanon of mine based off of Thomas’s short, “My Remedy for the Blues!”.
The headcanon is this:
Virgil and Patton are the sides that really represent Thomas’s emotions, both good and bad.
Patton represents a lot of the main ones, including sadness.
So sometimes, just like I’m sure many people do, he just feels the need to be sad for no apparent reason.
Since Virgil is also an “emotional” side, he understands this better than the others.
So he and Patton had gotten into the habit of meeting up in private sometimes and just... letting themselves be sad together.
They watch sad movies and eat ice cream and listen to sad music and talk about whatever just generally makes them sad.
And then they eventually say goodbye and part ways, feeling a lot better after letting all of their emotions out, until the next time they meet up to be sad again.
I honestly love this little headcanon a lot and I was really just gonna write all of that down really quickly and go to sleep cus it was midnight when I started making this post and I was actually pretty tired at that point so sleep sounded GREAT, but then I really started to get into detail with the little fanon universe I intended for the headcanon to take place in and then suddenly I was writing an entire fic that’s probably gonna need a second part for the actual headcanon bit and it’s already four in the morning now and I’m SO sleepy but I have to finish this now because I’ve committed at this point and stopping would now be considered blasphemy to literally everything I represent as a human being.
So here we are.
I present to you a headcanon and a fanfiction that I had absolutely no intention of writing but ended up writing anyways.
I hope you enjoy.
(Or just ignore the rest of this post and only read the headcanon)
(It’s your choice)
(Btw this fic is purely platonic)
(But it is specifically platonic Moxiety at the moment)
(That will change in the future if I decide to write more for this little universe but it is what it is right now)
(I just love platonic Moxiety a lot ok)
(I need to cherish and protecc my soft beans)
(I’m crying now)
(I’m so tired)
(Anyways, whatever, do what you want)
(I’m just gonna go now and suffer from sleep deprivation tomorrow)
Virgil appears one day as a surprise to the others when he just suddenly runs into the room while they’re watching Thomas on the tv and shouts at Thomas with his warped voice to make him stop when he almost walks in front of a moving car.
Patton is delighted by the new addition of a side that seems to have the ability to save Thomas from harm simply by shouting at him.
Logan and Roman, however, are not.
They are upset that there is a side that can control Thomas at will.
So they quickly learn to hate him and try to keep him away from themselves, each other, and Thomas.
Patton isn’t ok with that but Virgil leaves before he can say anything to defend him, and the others use that as extra evidence to argue against Patton on the matter.
So Anxiety becomes an outcast and Patton is incredibly sad about losing the opportunity to befriend the new kid.
Until, one day, he runs into him in the kitchen.
Or falls into him, as the case happened be.
Patton is tired and it’s late but he’s also thirsty so he finds himself in the kitchen drinking some water.
Once he’s finished with his drink he goes to leave the room but ends up tripping over air and falls onto something that is a lot softer, warmer, and higher up than the ground.
As it turns out, Virgil had been going around the house to make sure nothing was wrong with the others(he always does this. Every night he waits until everyone goes to bed and then walks over to each side’s bedroom to check and make sure that they are alright. Sometimes they’re not and whenever that happens he tries to leave out little treats or gifts and finds ways to make the sides day easier the next day to help them feel a little better(all without them noticing it’s him doing it, of course)) and had noticed that Patton’s door was open and the side was nowhere to be seen. So he’d focused for a second and just barely heard someone shuffling around in the kitchen downstairs and had gone to check on the moral side, just in case there was somethjng seriously wrong.
By the time he reached the kitchen, Patton was putting his empty glass into the sink to be cleaned the next morning and was walking towards the entrance where Virgil was silently standing.
Virgil had planned on simply waiting until Patton left and just quietly watching him from the shadows as he returned to his room, but then Patton tripped and he found himself reacting without thinking.
Patton looked up after his fall and was surprised to see the new side, who he still didn’t know the name of yet, looking down at him with wide eyes and holding him carefully against his chest.
Not knowing what else to do in this situation, Patton spoke.
“...hello.”
And Virgil found himself responding without even meaning to because, what else was he even supposed to do in this kind of situation?
“...hi.”
“You caught me...”
“Yeah...sorry?”
Patton’s face scrunched up.
“What?”
And suddenly Virgil could move and think again and his brain was rapidly devolving into a panic because, oh my god I just caught morality I am holding morality I am holding one of the sides he is in my arms what is going on what just happened oh my gOD IM STILL HOLDING HIM I HAVENT LET GO YET WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME HE PROBABLY HATES ME LIKE THE OTHERS I JUST GRABBED HIM LIKE IT WAS NOTHING LET HIM GO NOW!
So Virgil quickly let go of the moral side and tried to step back.
Except Patton was also holding Virgil around the waist.
So, while Virgil stepped back, Patton simply ended up being dragged forward alongside him.
There was a very quiet moment of silence as Virgil looked down at the side still attached to him with shock and Patton blinked a couple times in surprise as he found himself becoming a little more horizontal to the ground while he continued to look up at the one supporting him.
And then Patton started to lose his grip and slide down Virgil’s body and onto the ground and Virgil did the only thing he COULD do in that situation.
He picked up Morality.
He did his best to be careful and quick as he grabbed the side from under his armpits and pulled him up off the ground for a moment before carefully placing him onto his own two feet.
Patton was still loosely holding onto Virgil and blinking rapidly in surprise as he was placed down again.
And another moment of quiet occurred as Virgil looked at the hands holding onto his shirt, seemingly on reflex, and tried to figure out if he should simply try to break away from them and run or if he should ask Morality if he was ok.
In the end, he ignored his own fear and decided that making sure the other side was alright took priority.
As always.
“Um...”
Patton blinked, still simply dumbfounded by being picked up by the side that didn’t actually look like they had the strength to do such a thing so easily, and Virgil continued talking.
“Are you...ok, Morality?”
The moral side blinked a few more times in silence as Virgil waited with some concern slowly building in his chest.
Then it was like a switch had been flipped and suddenly Patton was alive again.
“OH!”
The shout startled Virgil so much he ended up pulling the other against his chest again in some sort of protective act of instinct and Patton let out a surprised squeak and a giggle before wrapping his own arms around the new side once again as well.
Virgil stared at him with surprise after darting his eyes around to check their surroundings for danger.
“Morality?”
Patton giggled a little more before settling again and sending Virgil a smile that made him kind of want to just curl up on the floor and cry a little.
“Sorry, kiddo. I was just surprised is all. I didn’t expect someone to catch me when I was falling earlier and I definitely wasn’t expecting you to pick me up either so I just couldn’t figure out what to do with myself for a minute there.”
“Oh, ok then.”
Virgil was now blinking at the cheerful side with some more surprise and confusion.
He had no idea what was even going on at this point.
It was at this point though that he realized he was still pretty much hugging the other side and he quickly released him once again.
And, thankfully, Patton let go as well.
“Thank you for that, by the way.”
Virgil scrunched his own face up, confused.
“What?”
Patton, if anything, only seemed to grin wider.
Virgil was pretty sure his soul was going to slowly leave his body if this kept up.
“For catching me. It probably would have hurt a lot if I’d actually fallen, so I really appreciate you being here to help me. So, thank you!”
Yup, his soul was now leaving his body and he was going to just collapse on the floor in front of the kitchen until someone finally came by to toss his corpse into the abyss where he belonged.
Maybe Morality would be so kind as to do it himself.
“Um...yeah. No problem. Don’t mention it. It wasn’t a big deal. I just didn’t really want you to fall and get hurt or anything...”
Virgil trailed off as he realized he was starting to ramble and Patton continued to smile at him.
There was a moment of very awkward silence.
Then Virgil remembered that the other sides actually hated him and he was supposed to be staying away from them not talking to them and touching them and being smiled at by them and he did what he probably should have done as soon as he put Morality down the first time.
“Well...bye.”
And the anxious side sunk into the floor and disappeared before Patton could even ask him his name.
“Oh...”
But that wouldn’t keep him down too long, Patton decided as he held up a fist with a determined expression on his face.
The new side was a lot nicer than the other two seemed to think, as Patton had been quite sure to be the case since he seemed to be here to protect Thomas to begin with, and he was now determined to make up for not giving him a proper welcome before by befriending him now.
So Patton got to work.
He kept an eye out for the side, watching his door whenever he had the chance and trying to keep an eye out for a flash of black or purple anywhere.(I like the idea that Virgil started off with a simple long sleeve purple shirt and black jeans when he became a side and the hoodie was something he decided to wear later.)
He even tried to spend more time in the common area at night in the hopes of catching him.
And he knew that he’d been there at some point.
Because, sometimes, he’d fall asleep waiting and would later end up waking up tucked into his own bed.
And when he’d asked the others how they’d slept that night, they never said anything about waking up, finding him, and taking him to bed.
So the new side was definitely coming out at night but Patton still couldn’t find him and the other simply refused to come out when he called and talk to him.
It took two weeks before Patton finally came up with an idea he thought would work in getting the side to finally speak to him again.
He came down that night and waited for a while, as he always did.
And then he got up from his spot on the couch, hopped up onto the banister, and let himself fall.
There was a terrifying second or two where he thought that maybe he had miscalculated and the new side wasn’t around to catch him tonight and he would end up falling flat on his back and cracking his skull open or something, but then there was a blur of black and purple in the corner of his eye and he was suddenly resting in a set of very gentle arms that held him close to a chest that had a VERY fast heartbeat.
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!”
Virgil had almost just died.
If his soul hadn’t left last time, then it definitely did just now.
He’d been so confused when the moral side had gotten up and climbed onto the banister but he had never, not even once, thought that he would just fall off of it like that.
He’d been all the way in the kitchen one second and right beside the stairs in the next and his heart was pounding so hard from the adrenaline pulsing in his veins that he was pretty sure he was about to pass out from fear alone.
This wasn’t fair.
Why did he have to be the one to do this?
Why couldn’t he be like the others and just go to sleep at night?
And suddenly Morality was laughing and Virgil really just wanted to cry and go to bed because this was all just SO unfair.
“You caught me!”
Patton threw his arms around the other side’s neck and couldn’t help the delighted laughter that fell out of him in that moment.
He’d finally found him again!
The other side sighed and gave Patton the smallest of squeezes.
“Yeah...but why were you falling in the first place? What were you doing standing on the banister like that?”
Virgil wasn’t sure what explanation he was expecting the other to give, but it was not what he ended up receiving.
“I was trying to get your attention again.”
Morality seemed slightly embarrassed but mostly just obstinate as he stared Virgil down.
The new side blinked.
“What?”
Patton looked away.
The embarrassment was really starting to take over at this point and it was getting a little bit more difficult to insist, even in his own mind, that this had been the best course of action.
“Well, I wanted to talk to you. But whenever I tried to find you, you weren’t around and I couldn’t get you to come out. So I thought that, maybe, you’d catch me again if I fell. So I figured I should fall from the banister to make sure that you saw me falling and had time to react.”
By the end of the explanation, Patton couldn’t actually look at the other side anymore and was instead staring down at his purple-clad chest.
For a moment, there was silence and Patton was pretty sure that the new side was gonna think he was an idiot now, but then something miraculous happened.
Virgil’s chest started to shake, then his shoulders, then his arms, and then he couldn’t contain it anymore and laughter bloomed through the common room like a boom of thunder in a storm.
Patton looked up in shock and would later tell anyone who listened that this was the moment when he had promised himself that he would do whatever it took to protect his strange dark son for the rest of his days because Virgil’s face was lit up with the biggest grin and his eyes were squeezed shut as he laughed a full belly laughing guffaw that shook his entire body, and Patton by extension, and filled the room with one of the nicest and purest sounds Patton had ever had the joy of hearing.
He was pretty sure he had stars in his eyes as he watched the new side laugh until he couldn’t take it anymore and fell surprisingly gently, probably for Patton’s sake, onto his knees on the floor.
The laughter continued and Patton remained in the side’s shaking arms as he ended up doubling over and laughing into Patton’s shoulder.
Not that he minded.
If anything, he was delighted.
This was amazing.
Not only had he gotten the other side’s attention at last, he had also made him laugh so hard he didn’t even seem capable of controlling himself anymore.
But, eventually, the laughter faded off and the other side finally calmed down.
Virgil hadn’t really meant for any of that to happen and was reluctant to take his face away from where it was hidden against Morality’s shoulder.
So, for a moment, a just let himself take a second to really calm down and catch his breath again as the moral side remained perfectly still against him.
But he had to face everything eventually, so he finally took his head away from the side’s shoulder and only glanced at him for a moment before looking away with a blush quickly seeping over his face and ears.
“Sorry about that...”
Patton had to blink back into reality again before quickly speaking.
“Oh no! It’s fine! It was pretty funny and you have a really nice laugh so I don’t mind.”
Patton hadn’t really meant to say that last part, but it was true so that was fine.
Virgil blushed a little bit more and had to fight against the instinct in him that simply screamed to run away now that Morality was safe again.
Because the side had done all of this to talk to him again and if he left now there was a very high possibility that this would keep happening until Morality finally had the conversation he’d wanted to have in the first place.
“Right, well...anyways, what did you want to talk about, Morality?”
Patton twitched, apparently the new side had an impressive pair of big purple puppy eyes(this fanon Virgil has purple eyes, deal with it) and it was a struggle not to just let himself squeal and pull the side back against his shoulder again.
“Oh. Right. Yeah, that. Oh! Yeah, I wanted to ask what your name was!”
Morality wiggled a little in Virgil’s arms and he would have put the side down if he wasn’t worried about him not letting go again like last time.
“Oh, it’s, um...Anxiety”
The cheerful side blinked and looked into empty space for a moment before a look of realization came across his face.
“Oh, yeah! I remember Logan mentioning that word before. It’s like being scared and nervous about things, right?”
Patton felt it when the other side twitched a bit in what seemed like an aborted sort of flinch before he responded with his head down.
“Yeah, basically.”
The words, “kicked puppy”, repeatedly cycled through the moral side’s brain like a sad little siren.
Roman and Logan were in so much trouble, Patton decided then.
Because it seemed like the new side thought that he was a bad thing.
It probably really got to him when the others immediately got angry at him upon his arrival.
And having the title of Anxiety, which Patton remembered Logan calling an illness at one point, definitely wouldn’t have helped him feel better about himself.
But that wasn’t important right now.
Right now, Patton had a new friend to help feel better about themselves.
“So you keep Thomas safe from all of the bad things?”
Anxiety’s head shot up so fast his neck cracked and Patton could almost feel the whiplash second hand.
“what?”
His voice was small and breathless and it kind of made Patton want to cry, but he stayed strong and continued on with as cheerful a voice as he’d been using the entire time.
“You protect Thomas. You make him nervous and scared of the things he should avoid and can even make him directly avoid them. You’re like his knight in shining armor or something!”
And Patton was pretty proud of himself for a moment.
He was pretty sure that he’d actually said the right thing this time and Anxiety was gonna feel a bit better about himself and maybe be more willing to spend time with Patton now and they would be friends and it would be great!
But then he was met with a sight that made his heart feel like it was falling to pieces.
Tears, tainted black by the dark smudges Patton hadn’t even noticed under the other side’s eyes, fell silently from Anxiety’s wide purple eyes.
And Virgil was trying so hard to figure out what was happening, again.
He didn’t understand.
Morality was being nice to him he gave him a compliment multiple compliments he was smiling and had jumped off of a banister just to talk to him who did that what was this why was he doING THIS WHY DID HE SAY SUCH NICE THINGS WHY WAS HE ALWAYS SMILING HE HATES HIM THEY ALL DO HE’S ANXIETY HE’S BAD HE HURTS THOMAS NO MATTER HOW MUCH HE JUST WANTS TO KEEP HIM SAFE AND NOW MORALITY KNOWS WHAT HE IS AND WHAT HE DOES BUT HE SAID ITS GOOD HE THINKS HE’S GOOD AND HE CALLED HIM THOMAS’ KNIGHT LIKE HE WAS ACTUALLY DOING WHAT HE TRIED SO HARD TO DO AND THERE WAS SO MUCH AND TOO MUCH AND IT’S SO WEIRD AND STRANGE AND HE JUST. CAN’T. DEAL. ANYMORE.
And suddenly Anxiety is gone and Patton finds himself sitting on the floor beside the stairs.
Alone.
And that’s the end of the first chapter.
*flairs out tired jazz hands*
Ta-da.
Man, this took a turn near the end that I feel makes sense and is necessary but it was very much not my intent.
Then again, this entire thing was not my intent but it happened anyways so I should really just accept that I have absolutely no control over what is going on in my life at this point and try to be happy about whatever ends up happening.
So most of this was fluff but we ended up with something vaguely resembling angst at the very end.
Don’t worry tho, I’ll eventually do the second part and we’ll see how all of this eventually gets sorted out.
...probably.
Anyways, I hope whoever reads this actually likes it a little and doesn’t find this to be a waste of time and space because that’s just my entire life in a nutshell and I could kind of do with at least a little bit of gratification for the things that I spend my time doing.
*sighs in asexual*
It is four in the morning and I’m dying a little every second.
Anyways, I’ll just leave now and maybe sleep before I have to do things in the morning.
Later, I guess.
*falls onto floor and kind of just sighs in resignation as a cat comes over and sits on my back*
great...
