the sweetest scene. i already love the fans' idea that this phrase may refer us to po's future at the end of the second trilogy, where he finds himself in the spirit world and there he meets tai lung and they eat noodles.

somehow, despite the fact that po's avowed personal enemy is shen, tai lung in the last film was able to touch po's story closer than any of the villains. and all this in a minute of interaction. goat!!

Everyone is lamenting about there no longer being a social media that EVERYONE is on and I think that's actually a good thing

Having smaller and separated communities was the norm for the internet for decades. Twitter being THE MAIN hub that EVERYONE must use is a new internet phenomenon that in my opinion was the downfall of internet happiness

Not the start of it. But the most noticable height

Since I'm still procrastinating "Choices" (okay, actually I'm still healing from the severe heartbreak it caused) I read „Quite like us“ and "blue and yellow skies" by @alarainai and „salmon_says“. For those of you who need and love (somewhat fluffy) Jegulus AUs these might be it.

Quite like us (67k): The story is placed in the real world, like without magic at all. James is a physiotherapist and Regulus studies to become a veterinarian. They make contact via a text message from James that was meant to be send to Sirius. They don't know who the other person is but start a conversation nonetheless. It may sound a little odd at first but I really liked how different it was. Especially since the first part is almost exclusively written as text messages. But yeah - check it out. It’s a really nice short fanfiction! Also it hit a little too close to home when some teen angst was discussed. But I sirius-ly loved how they chose to deal with it and "solve" the issues. Know your worth you lovely people!

Blue and Yellow Skies (142k): Okay this one is an AU where Regulus and James are both professional Quidditch players. It's rivals-to-lovers and was executed perfectly (imho). They managed to capture James and Regulus so well. While Regulus has some a lot unresolved feelings, James is just..well he's James. He's utterly, idiotically and irrevocably in love with Regulus. So you bet it's an utter mess when they find themselves in a fake relationship with the press and public constantly in their faces. This story deals with some sirius issues as well. I think the bottom line is that it's okay to set boundaries because you can't fix another person. It's not your job and you shouldn't let them run around hurting you. There comes a point where you have to choose yourself in order to survive. But then, there is always two sides. And it's okay to take some time to heal and ask for forgiveness. Also Rosekiller is a definite plus for this work of art!

DAUMIER'S LAW

Paul: “I wanted to get into some minimalist music so I came to the studio and started trying to think of very simple pieces, based around the theme of injustice. .. I got intrigued by the idea of thinking ‘how few notes could I use, then?’ You start off thinking of just one note and then you embellish it a bit, trying to keep in the back of your mind to be as minimal as possible. And in the end I think I abondoned the idea of minimalism and just got into this slightly experimental music.”

Linda: “I got every book on Daumier and read all about his life and thought that it would be incredible to do a visual thing for Paul’s music. Daumier worked for a newspaper as a satirical cartoonist and went to prison a few times for his Art. A lot of his work was about injustice and it’s a theme that is so right for our times.”

Soon the two projects came together.

Geoff Dunbar: "Paul and Linda called and asked if I would like to make a film on Daumier and I said yes,”, “Before Rupert came along I had made a film on Toulouse-Lautrec so the Daumier idea was very exciting.”

“Paul did six pieces of music and they each had a title – Right, Wrong, Justice, Punishment, Payment, and Release. Then we pored through the works of Daumier, got everything that was available, and structured the story from the material. And where we had to link it we invented ‘in the style of’. We hung the story on one character, a man from one drawing by Daumier.”

The movie was premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in March 1992, and won the top prize at the British Academy Of Film And Television Arts in 1993. Paul & Linda are credited as co-writers and producers of the movie.

i am not against ai as a concept, it is extremely useful in some areas -

i personally know of a team of researchers who train ai to identify types of blood cells - it is an amazing progress for laboratory diagnostics - cell count in blood can be a great first identifier of a human body general condition but blood is such a tricky material;

To keep it in a state close to human body environment even for a couple of hours, one needs to take a lot of special measures (vacuum containers with anticoagulants for some analytes etc.) and even then a blood sample will mostly deteriorate beyond recognition in 24hours.

There already are automated systems that will count blood cells using spectrophotometry and extrapolation, but in harder cases human eyes and microscope are your best bet, the eye strain is unbelievable though and in my previous workplace it was ~500 samples a day per person, i really hadn't envied my colleagues from this department.

So, to have an instrument trained specifically by experts to identify cells faster and count them better than with spectrometry and math, sparing actual real people from eye problems - GOOD.

And it will not endanger those real people's jobs - there are many kinds of lab tests in that field that require human expertise and pathological cases will require human evaluation still.

But why the fuck would someone use ai for creativity?! That baffles me to no end.

Also it feels like such a violation to make ai images/texts in "someone's style":/ what if said artist absolutely hated the topic that was prompted? ugh

Anyways, the idea of ai generated books/images just makes my skin crawl.

Also I've just installed a windows xp program on win 11, so my decades old scanner won't go obsolete, and I am very proud of myself¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately.

Since there’s so much angsty/pining bond stuff happening with Lucien and Elain, I keep having this headcanon that they are shy and sweet.

But that’s not even the case! Elain used to be very social and loved balls, being with people, etc. Lucien the same.

I bet when they finally get over their angst and get together (and happy!), they are going to be the life of every party! I can’t wait to see that side of BOTH of them.
