The WOLVERINE slices a swath through the vamps, but when she encounters the TRUTH behind their machinations, will an UNLIKELY ALLY prove to be more than she bargained for?"

written by Steve Foxe, art by Netho Diaz, main cover by Dotun Akande
"Warren Worthington III long ago – and at great cost – made peace with the seed of Death that Apocalypse planted within him. But as the contest to choose an heir rages on, ARCHANGEL takes the fight to Apocalypse himself, to make sure no one else suffers at the hands of En Sabah Nur!"
X-Men: Heir of Apocalypse #4
written by Steve Foxe, art by Netho Diaz, main cover by Dotun Akande

Hello Colleen! I just have a few questions about the new Good Omens graphic novel. Is there a limited amount of copies of it? And when you order a novel, it says it would arrive in July 2024. Was just wondering if that’s true or not.
thank you!
Hi, thanks for asking.
I don't know if there are any plans to limit the number of copies. As I wrote before, I'm not running the show here.
Yes, the project won't be out until next summer.
This may seem like a long time, but really it's not. If you've already considered this, my apologies for explaining, but others may appreciate the info.
While I've been working on the book for months - way before the Kickstarter was announced - there is still a lot to do. We need a cushion of time in there so if anything major goes wrong, there are options.
I will be working on a number of pages which will incorporate faces of Kickstarter supporters in certain scenes. This will not interfere with the look or feel of the book in any way, but it is going to take some time.
We are adding more story pages to the book. This is going to take time.
There are a LOT of extra products to manufacture and package. This is going to take LOTS of time.
The final printing and shipping will take months. It's not at all unusual to require a 6 month lead between final production and arrival in bookstores, especially with paper shortages.
If this book were being produced by a major publisher, it would take even longer to come out.
At a major publisher, the book sits in editorial for what seems like an age, then gets put into a catalogue for the next season solicitations where orders are taken and print runs are set based on those orders.
And a lot of that time would not necessarily be given to the artist to write and draw the book: you can find horror stories from many graphic novelists working for big publishing companies where only a small fraction of production was allowed for the artist to write and draw the book: the rest of the time was eaten by negotiations, administration, and editorial. I've done the vast majority of more than one graphic novel in just a few months. It's not fun.
Thanks to Kickstarter support, this is also going to be a deluxe hardcover with gold and red foil, slipcase, bookmark ribbon, etc. The time and expense for all that goes up.
While a major book publisher would have produced this book and put it in a big catalogue to take orders through distributors, Dunmanifestin is a small book publisher which has gone around the process to take book orders directly from fans and bookstores via Kickstarter.
Thank you so much for your question.

Transiting Neptune stations direct
Wednesday, December 6, 13:20 UT, 24°53’ Pisces
Caveat: this may not have much of an impact on you unless Neptune is prominent in your chart: closely in aslect to the Sun, the Moon, &/or an angle; or strong Pisces &/or 12 House energies.
I always feel like I should solicit a guest blogger to write about Neptune doing things. Not only is this planet tucked away in my 12th House - not only is it not very well integrated with the rest of my chart - but it’s conjunct my North Node, ie, something completely alien to my skill set (the South Node).
Anyway: Neptune stations direct. We’ve spent the past five months (since Neptune stationed retrograde on June 30) going more inward with our spirituality, or our escapism. If we’re trying to “go with the flow,” we’ve been looking within for direction.
Neptune stationed Rx at 27°41’ Pisces, and now stations direct at 24°17’ Pisces. If you have an important placement between those degrees (or between 9°17’ and 12°41’ of the Fixed signs Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, or Aquarius) - you’ve felt some kind of dissolution (disillusion?) over the past weeks and months. Moving forward, we have a better sense of our “guiding vision” freed from the shackles of ego and glamour.
Neptune’s next station is on July 2, 2024, at 29°56’ Pisces. Almost Aries! Which is a whole ‘nuther can of worms in itself. Let’s not borrow trouble, but deal with Neptune/Pisces on our plates right now.

The abandoned Minto mine in central Yukon is officially up for sale.
Receiver PriceWaterhouseCoopers, which has been managing the Minto Metal Corp.'s affairs since July, issued a sales and investment solicitation document on its website for the property last week.
Potential buyers can place bids for either the entire Minto property — located approximately 240 kiklometres north of Whitehorse, near Pelly Crossing — or pieces of it, with initial bids accepted until Oct. 6.
A timeline in the sale document states binding bids will be due Oct. 30, with an assessment period to follow. The firm hopes to select a successful bid — assuming there are any — before Dec. 31 and to have it approved by a judge within 60 days, anticipated to be Jan. 26, 2024.
The launch of the sale process is the latest in the growing saga of the most recently-abandoned mine in the territory; Minto Metal Corp. suddenly ceased operations at the site in May, leaving dozens of contractors, workers and Selkirk First Nation, on whose territory the mine sits, in the lurch. [...]

Deadline: July 31st, 2023 Payment: $20 plus 1 cent per word Theme: Smoke & Mirrors Autonomous Press is now accepting submissions of short fiction, short literary memoir, and poetry for the eighth volume of Spoon Knife, our annual genre-bending lit anthology. We are accepting submissions until July 31st, 2023. Authors will be notified of acceptance or rejection by the end of 2023. Spoon Knife 8 will be published in Spring 2024. The theme for Spoon Knife 8 is Smoke & Mirrors. All submissions should touch in some way or another on this theme, but it can be interpreted as broadly and strangely as you like, and as literally or figuratively as you like (i.e., actual smoke and actual mirrors need not appear). Please note that above all else, Spoon Knife is an anthology of stories, which we select primarily based on the quality of the storytelling. Many would-be contributors, in past years, have been unclear on the nature of Spoon Knife and have wasted their time sending us pieces that read more like blog posts or political activism. We highly recommend reading a recent volume of Spoon Knife in order to make sure you understand what this series is and what it isn’t. All submissions must be sent as Word documents (.doc or .docx files). Prose submissions (fiction and memoir) must meet the following criteria: 12-point Times New Roman font, double-spaced. First line of each paragraph indented. No extra whitespace between paragraphs. Consistent use of Oxford commas. Thoroughly proofread and spell-checked. If you’re submitting poetry, you may send up to 3 poems (please put them all in a single document). Poems should also be in 12-point Times New Roman font, but do not need to be double-spaced. Maximum length for submissions is 10k words. Exception: you can assume this limit to be as flexible as you need it to be if you’re an author whom we’ve previously published or whose submission the editors have actively solicited. Payment for accepted submissions will be $20 plus 1 cent per word, sent near the time of the book’s release. Our process, on acceptance, includes a close copy-edit, and we’ll check in with authors if it looks like there should be any change beyond basic typo fixes; we don’t send author proofs. Spoon Knife 8 will be co-edited by Nick Walker and Phil Smith. Email all submissions to nick [at] autpress [dot] com. The title of your email should be your name plus the words “Spoon Knife 8 Submission.” The body of your email must include a 1–4 sentence bio written in the third person, with the exact name under which you wish to be credited; this is the bio we’ll use for you in the book. Via: Autonomous Press.

Ontarios Crypto King charged with investment fraud
Aiden Pleterski, the self-proclaimed Ontario Crypto King who went bankrupt and endured an alleged kidnapping, has been arrested and charged following a 16-month investigation. Pleterski’s arrest was confirmed ahead of a Thursday press conference titled Project Swan. In July 2022, police in Durham began receiving complaints about investment fraud involving a man from the Whitby area, later confirmed to be Pleterski. Over a 16-month period, investigators from the Financial Crimes Unit authored over 40 court orders and gathered evidence. A Durham Regional Police spokesperson said it’s believed that approximately $40 million was fraudulently obtained through the Crypto King from over 300 victims across Ontario. According to court documents obtained by CityNews, Pleterski raised approximately $41.5 million from investors but invested only 1.6 per cent of that money. It’s believed that the Crypto King instead used funds from investors to purchase luxury vehicles, including McLarens, Lamborghinis, Audis and BMWs. Pleterski was charged with fraud over $5,000 and laundering proceeds of crime. He appeared in court on Tuesday and was released on bail. His next court appearance is slated for June. Details of the ‘Crypto King’s’ fall from grace Investigators note that Pleterski may have been attempting to solicit new investors as recently as February 2024. Pleterski was declared bankrupt by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in August 2022. Court documents show that only $2.2 million, including several luxury vehicles under his name, was seized, despite the Crypto King owing millions to over 100 investors. On Dec. 5, 2022, Pleterski was abducted in downtown Toronto, leading to a missing persons report. Pleterski was allegedly lured into a vehicle by a group of suspects, and once inside the vehicle, two suspects pointed firearms at him. Aiden Pleterski, the self-proclaimed “Crypto King,” is seen here in this photo on Instagram. Pleterski was held captive for three days and taken to various locations where he was repeatedly assaulted. The suspects later released him in downtown Toronto and demanded a large amount of Canadian currency. Police said the victim’s life and family were threatened. Investigators arrested four people on July 17, 2023. Police identified those suspects as 24-year-old Deren Akyeam-Pong of Toronto, 24-year-old Rakeem Henry of London, Ont., 39-year-old Akil Heywood of Toronto, and 37-year-old Tyler Fast of Toronto. On July 21, 2023, a fifth suspect was charged, identified as 22-year-old Alfredo Paladino of Hamilton. According to the New York Times (NYT), Heywood had filed a claim for losing $740,000 that he had invested with Pleterski towards cryptocurrency and foreign exchange positions. It’s unclear if the other men involved in the alleged kidnapping invested with the Crypto King. In September 2023, a year after filing for bankruptcy, reports surfaced that Pleterski was travelling the world. A few months later, the CBC reported that Canadian NBA superstar and Toronto native Shai Gilgeous-Alexander won a lawsuit to undo his $8.4-million purchase of a Burlington mansion where Pleterski used to live. The lawsuit claimed that sellers failed to disclose to the buyer that an alleged series of threatening visits had been occurring at the mansion by individuals looking for the Crypto King and threatening him with violence. Grant Prospecting - Findings Section:
For this project, I collaborated with a team to craft a prospecting report of different grant possibilities for a faculty member. Specifically, I worked on the findings section, which focuses on presenting the details of the grants we selected in a clear and concise way.
Findings: Selected Opportunities
Through our research, we found four grants that fit Dr. -’s research. These are all NSF grants that focus on Arctic research, environmental biology and climate change. The deciding factors for us to highlight these opportunities from a selection of twelve were a combination of relevance to the project, funding amount, submission deadlines, and Dr. -’s previous NSF funding.
Option 1: NSF 23-572: Arctic Research Opportunities
Description: The goal of this solicitation is to attract research proposals that advance a fundamental, process, and/or systems level understanding of the Arctic's rapidly changing natural environment, social and cultural systems, and, where appropriate, to improve our capacity to project future change.
https://new.nsf.gov/funding/opportunities/arctic-research-opportunities/nsf23-572/solicitation
Funding Amount: $50,000,000 for an estimated 75 projects per fiscal year
Deadline: July 15, 2024
Why we think it’s a good fit: The RFP asks for researchers wanting to study Arctic rapid climate changes, which aligns perfectly with Dr. -’s project. It also places focus on helping researchers with interagency collaboration, meaning that the grant could be used to help Dr. - gain access to larger snow datasets that could help improve the spatial range of the project.
Notes: Deadline is approaching quickly
Option 2: NSF 24-543: Division of Environmental Biology
Description: The Division of Environmental Biology (DEB) Core supports research and training on evolutionary and ecological processes acting at the level of populations, species, communities, ecosystems, macrosystems, and biogeographic extents. DEB encourages research that elucidates fundamental principles that identify and explain the unity and diversity of life and its interactions with the environment over space and time. Research may incorporate field, laboratory, or collection-based approaches; observational or manipulative studies; synthesis activities; phylogenetic discovery projects; or theoretical approaches involving analytical, statistical, or computational modeling.
https://new.nsf.gov/funding/opportunities/division-environmental-biology-deb/nsf24-543/solicitation
Funding Amount: $100,000,000 for an estimated 120 projects per fiscal year
Deadline: Proposals accepted any time
Why we think it’s a good fit: This grant has the potential for a lot of funding, and it focuses on projects researching climate change and the environment. Specifically, the STAR Grants have very general requirements for postdoctoral researchers within the environmental biology department, which gives Dr. -’s project a larger chance to succeed. Finally, this grant is focused on projects that have already gone through initial data collection, and projects that are very targeted, so this feels like a perfect match.
Option 3: NSF 21-544: Long Term Research in environmental Biology
Description: Research areas include, but are not limited to, the effects of natural selection or other evolutionary processes on populations; the effects of interspecific interactions that vary over time and space; population and community dynamics for organisms that have extended life spans and long turnover times; feedbacks between ecological and evolutionary processes; pools of materials such as nutrients in soils that turn over at intermediate to longer time scales; and external forcing functions such as climatic factors that operate over long time periods.
https://new.nsf.gov/funding/opportunities/long-term-research-environmental-biology-ltreb/nsf21-544/solicitation
Funding Amount: $600,000 over 5 years
Deadline: Proposals accepted any time
Why we think it’s a good fit: This grant has a large award amount and can fund projects on a longer duration. The long term aspect of this grant could also be ideal for Dr. - since it can fund decade long projects, allowing for the research to observe the effects of climate change on snow over a very long period of time. This would also give the project time to gather data from all across Alaska. Finally, other - University professors have had projects funded through this grant recently.
Notes: The term for this project is 5 years - does Dr. - need long-term funding?
Option 4: NSF 23-622: Organismal Response to Climate Change (ORCC)
Description: This solicitation continues to accept full proposals that propose mechanistic studies of organismal response to climate change (ORCC) as a foundation that, when integrated with research at other levels of organization, will lead to a deeper understanding and better predictions of the integrity, the resilience, and the adaptation of biological systems to climate change.
https://new.nsf.gov/funding/opportunities/organismal-response-climate-change-orcc/nsf23-622/solicitation
Funding Amount: $10,000,000 for 10-14 projects
Deadline: November 19, 2024
Why we think it’s a good fit: This RFP focuses on organism-based responses to climate change, which aligns with Dr. -'s project. The RFP specifically mentions effects of climate change on plants and supports projects that provide insight into how human interactions affect the environment at an organismal level. It also offers a large amount of funding that could contribute to expanding the project.
Notes: Deadline is reasonably far away; this grant is more competitive than the others.
