Never done an ask before, so this is interesting. Anyways, I decided to try my hand at translating some of my OCs into Clanmew! Forewarning, I was doing this while playing COD with my siblings, and had some trouble with translating!

FlintShadow - Swarfyfwasha; I couldn't find flint, so I went with this.

BadgerHeart - Pihabababun: I also couldn't find badger, so I don't know if I'm just bad at using google sheets, or... But I think this name is fun to pronounce even though he's evil. Really funny.

BristleStrike - Bachkubo: I almost went with Marrl for his prefix instead, but I didn't want it to be so negative.

ChestnutScar - Konchyach: I just couldn't find most of the prefixes, though that could've just been my inexperience. I also kinda like how this one's pronounced, too.

FoxFang - Aowaoki: I find this one is pretty cute sounding.

OakThistle - Byochkegkep: He's got a mouthful of a name! Really like it, though. I went pretty generic with the Thistle part, since I didn't know the connotations or much about the specific plants and didn't have time between COD matches to do so. Sorry.

BuzzardStrike - Yassgakubo: this guy is BristleStrike's, ChestnutScar's and OakThistle's father. Not very nice, either.

StarlingFrost - Kaawiachiki: This is the main girl, younger half-sister to FlintShadow and BadgerHeart. She's also lesbian, so that's great. Actually, LeopardStep is her mate.

LeopardStep - Saorpappap: I figure there's a better word for 'Step', but it's late where I'm from and I have school tomorrow. It's also really cute, but it doesn't really fit her personality. She's more out-spoken and brazen and things like that.

Yeah, so... These certainly are not the best, but I think they're good for my first shot at this. It was actually pretty fun! Of course, if you have better ideas for the translation, I wouldn't mind some constructive criticism!

You did excellently! These names are great!

Here's a scattershot of some fresh words for you;

Chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum) = Koneq Note that in Clanmew, a name for a plant refers to the ENTIRE organism, so this word refers to a horse chestnut tree. This is actually because Clan cats are obligate carnivores, they mostly think of trees and plants in terms of how they affect HUNTING, not the edible things they produce. They also wouldn't distinguish between the Horse Chestnut and the Sweet Chestnut. This is because prey will eat the nuts equally, but sweet chestnuts can finicky. They don't grow well in the wild. Even if the Clan cats had access to a couple of sweet chestnuts, they would just assume it's a chestnut with differently-shaped leaves and never find out that their nuts are edible, because horse chestnuts are HIGHLY poisonous to cats. They would not risk trying to eat a sweet chestnut, assuming that it's the same type of toxic rock as a horse chestnut.

Conker = Okikwo Comes from Spike + Ball. One of the very few fruits that has a unique name unrelated to its "plant" in Clanmew! Conkers are the green, spiky "nut" (nekboq) containing poisonous "acorns" (kong) that come from chestnut trees. They are often wrapped in leather and used as balls, though some games just play with an unwrapped conker (ow).

Flint = Boshur Etymology unclear; Possibly Stone + Holy + Pale. Found exclusively at the Mothermouth, which is an abandoned quartz mine. Because there is no other good source of flint at Sanctuary Lake, the pieces that were brought with the Clans fleeing the destruction of the White Hart have become precious heirlooms. Flint is the most reliable way of making fire. Clan cats believe that it is a gift from StarClan, and reacts when struck against the "evil" fake-flint that Humans try to clad their monsters and fences in (metal).

Stance, gait, "way of walking," most common form of the "step" suffix = Yam Most of the time, if a specific verb for a type of walking isn't used, -step is "yam." When used with a prefix, it implies that they MOVE like the thing they are named after. It means a bit more than just a single physical step, or a particular movement, it's the WAY it moves around.

Pawprint, animal track = Pabyam Self-explanatory. The impression of an animal's foot on the ground.

And, lastly, badger is mair. I realized that we just didn't have a word for it a while ago, and I was also taken aback by that. It's surprising we went this long without it, lmao.

if ShadowClan cats see naming after the Three as blasphemous, how would they react to a cat named Leopardstep/Tigerstep/Lionstep?

I've said somewhere around here that while ShadowClan doesn't like those prefixes, they're not complete assholes about the other Clans using them. They're polite enough to call Leopardstep by her name and carry on a conversation, even if later after the Gathering they'll mutter to their Clanmate about "-step, really, they think they stand with our Lady?".

Warriors Ships Hypokits- WhiteTigerLion Edition

I never considered this ship before. I think it could have a lot of great angst potential in a more canon-like setting... but I can't do that because I'm a sucker for happy endings. And by StarClan do Lion and White deserve one (and maybe Tiger does too)

In this AU, Tigerpaw is apprenticed to Bluefrost instead of Thistleclaw. The two are constantly butting heads and Tigerpaw constantly disobeys his mentor and causes trouble. It's only after the two are forced to actually talk that Bluefrost understands that Tigerpaw is lonely and struggles with a complex about his father and believes that he is inherently bad somehow. Bluefrost begins to help her apprentice and he becomes better over time. He doesn't attack Tiny, but Tiny still ends up founding BloodClan, but it is a much kinder group as a result of the Clans' kindness toward him as a kit. Tigerpaw grows close with two other apprentices, Lionpaw and Whitepaw, who shares similar issues about his own father Thistleclaw, who was exiled for killing another Clan's Medicine Cat. When they grow older they fall in love and become mates (after a lot of work and talking things out). Tigerfrost never becomes Leader or even Deputy but he finds that he is very okay with that. He cheers the loudest of everyone when Bluestar becomes ThunderClan's Leader.

They have six kits with their friends Goldenflower, Frostfur, and Willowmoon as the surrogates.

Litter 1 (fathered by Tigerfrost):

Leopardstep- light-brown-and-silver spotted tabby tom with pale blue eyes. Cis tom, demisexual. This universe's version of Longtail and was named after Leopardfoot. Leopardstep is a petty and cold cat who believes Clan cats are superior to all other cats, despite the efforts of his fathers to teach him otherwise. He changes with the arrival of Firepaw, who is made his apprentice and the two bond over their time together. In a complete reversal of his former self, he ends up falling for Fireheart’s older kittypet sister Princess and leaves ThunderClan for BloodClan to be with her. He visits his family with her and their kits a lot before the Clans are forced to leave the forest. He dies from old age surrounded by his mate and kits. When he was a Warrior, he was a Hunter. 

Litter 2 (fathered by Lionheart; born around the same time as Litter 1):

Braveclaw- golden molly with a longer neck ruff and amber eyes. Trans molly, lesbian. Braveclaw is a tough and strong-willed cat who is a natural leader and takes charge easily. She is firm and stern but fair, and is well-respected by her Clanmates for it. She is a bit awkward outside of situations that she needs to take charge of and is actually a huge softie underneath it all. Braveclaw prefers to try and hide this because it interferes with her “cool and strong” image, but her family like to tease that side out of her because it’s funny and cute to see that shift. She is killed in a battle at some point while fighting to defend her Clan. She is a Warden, then eventually becomes a Deputy under Firestar.

Cougartooth- light brown tom with dark brown ears and amber eyes. Cis tom, straight. Cougartooth is his littermate’s polar opposite in almost every way. He is a coward who tends to follow stronger cats around and take orders from them. He is easily influenced by the beliefs of others that he believes are stronger, which is why Bluestar’s decision to give him to the treacherous Darkstripe as an apprentice was a horrible idea in hindsight. He and Darkstripe are the only ThunderClan cats to leave and follow Thistlestar once he takes over ShadowClan. His fathers are forced to kill him in the LionClan vs TigerClan battle after he attacks them and they grieve heavily over it. He was a Scout, then a Spy after he moved to ShadowClan.

Litter 3 (fathered by Whitestorm; born around the same time as the other apprentices in Into the Wild):

Blizzardwish- longhaired white tom with one blue eye and one yellow eye. Trans tom, gay. Blizzardwish comes across to most as being coldhearted and even cruel at times. And he is to a big extent. He believes that he needs to be that way to survive, having been picked on by many cats for being hard-of-hearing and blind in his blue eye. He fought hard to be where he is and fears that showing any sort of weakness will cause his hard work to go down the drain. He gets better, improving through his mentorship of his brother Swiftspirit and  Snowhawk, who has similar issues to him. While he is still pretty cold, he tones it down and learns that kindness is much more valuable in life. He dies of old age as an Elder. He was a Brute when he was a Warrior. 

Erminefur- pretty longhaired white molly with yellow eyes. Cis molly, straight. Erminefur and her littermate Blizzardwish were apprentices when Firepaw joined the Clan and were some of his biggest critics. Erminefur has always been pretty vain and a bully, being the stereotypical mean girl of ThunderClan. She, Sandpaw, and Dustpaw were best friends before Sandpaw began to like Firepaw and thus was ostracized from the group. Over time, Erminefur and Dustpelt mellowed out a bit as well (but not too much) and fell in Prickly Asshole Love and had kits together. Erminefur died during the Great Battle fighting alongside her mate. She was a Scout.

Litter 4 (fathered by Tigerfrost; born at the same time as Swiftpaw is in canon):

Swiftspirit- black-and-white tabby tom with amber eyes. Cis tom, bisexual. This universe's version of Swiftpaw. As the youngest child, Swiftspirit grew up pretty spoiled and believed that he was the strongest kit and then apprentice in the Clan. This proved disastrous when the dog pack appeared and began terrorizing the Clans, when Swiftpaw riled up the other ThunderClan apprentices to go after the dogs, resulting in the deaths of most of them and his own near-death experience. He delayed his own apprenticeship due to his injuries and deep depression but ultimately became an excellent Warrior. He died during the Great Storm saving his Clanmates from the floodwaters. He was a Warden.

this took me like 500 years to answer and i'm so indecisive even in posting this, however... :) lists assembled! some of them are in order, some aren't, some have multiple cats filling one "slot" because they're usually family and "equal" in the sense of being a favorite. i'm also doing my best to limit dead characters unless they're recently deceased, but...some are too important to leave out.

also the striked out text is for repressed feelings, because i can't get enough of that shit.

pinekit was born to two warriors named leopardstep and birchwhisper who, despite being a bit old to be having kits when pinekit was born, were still intent on having kits with each other. birchwhisper, his mother, wasn't around much as she was the clan's deputy. leopardstep didn't spend much time in the nursery either as he was a senior warrior and seemed to constantly be busy with patrols. pinekit was nursed and practically raised by an older she-cat named petalclaw. birchwhisper never moved to the nursery to raise pinekit, and leopardstep very rarely interacted with him. pinekit began to desperately want his parents' attention, but it was never given to him.

pinekit, then pinepaw, was apprenticed to a cat named flarepelt, who was a young and frankly inexperienced she-cat. she'd only been made a warrior a few moons ago and clearly didn't have the patience to deal with a new apprentice. this urged pinepaw to begin to train in the dark forest, the only place he'd get actual good training from.

though he did begin a short friendship with a she-cat who was around his age named tansypaw. pinepaw would often go to her to rant and she would politely listen, letting pinepaw take his anger out in a healthy way by venting to her. though aside from that pinepaw really did like the apprentice, and began to like her more than a friend.

eventually, though, despite his difficult apprenticeship he did make it through and became a warriro by the name pinethistle. tansypaw became one alongside him by the name tansydust. pinethistle's own parents said very little to him during his warrior ceremony while tansydust's mother showered her with attention and love and care, making pinethistle all the more resentful of his own parents. every night he'd dream of being in the dark forest and would wake up with scars and marks from training. few would ask about the scars and pinethistle would explain he had been out the night before and was just scratched by brambles and thorns. no big deal.

one day though, the clan leader, mudstar, declared that birchwhisper would be retiring. pinethistle thought nothing of this until mudstar suddenly said she would be heading to the nursery as she was pregnant, once more, with leopardstep's kit. pinethistle was outraged by this and confronted her, asking why she was willing to become a queen when she has her new kit but refused to become one when he was a kit, and she simply responded with the fact that she's older now than she was when he was a kit, and that she needed to be deputy. "you chose to be deputy over caring for your own kit?" pinethistle asked. and birchwhisper simply responded, "who else would have been deputy if i wasn't around? there were no capable warriors at the time besides me and leopardstep. if we had had no deputy, shadowclan would have been in shambles." mudstar then announces that the new deputy of shadowclan is violetgaze.

pinethistle, enraged by birchwhisper, heads to talk to tansydust about it. tansydust tells him it's okay to be angry. they're his parents, they should have payed more attention to him when he was a kit. pinethistle is still angry but he calms down a bit after tansydust says, "they're still you're parents, and they always will be. i'm sure they still care about you. what reason would they have not to?" pinethistle agrees and after a little while he and birchwhipser make up. same with leopardstep. they each have a bit of a rocky relationship but it seems to be getting bettter.

but then... oakkit, birchwhisper and leopardstep's second son, is born. far too early, which not only causes complications for oakkit but for birchwhisper as well. when he's born he's incredibly small and weak and the medicine cats say he may not survive, while birchwhisper is injured and is suffering from sudden anxiety. everyone is worried that oakkit might not make it as he wasn't born at the right time.

but after a while it seemed that oakkit was beginning to get better. not as healthy and strong as he should be for a 3 moon old kit. but he was talking and walking and seeming to be normal now, which was wonderful. one night pinethistle and birchwhisper had a short talk and birch agreed that he could take oakkit out to go explore shadowclan territory, since he'd been begging for days. so he and oakkit set out on their own to search the territory and everything seemed. nice! they were bonding and it was pleasant. though at one point oakkit spotted a piece of prey, a mouse, scuttering underneath a bush out of the corner of his eye. pinethistle wasn't paying attention so oakkit sneaked away to go and quickly catch the prey. as a surprise for his father. and he did!

or... at least... attempted to.

the prey ran off and instead of oakkit giving up chase he ran full speed at the prey, determined to catch it. when pinethistle noticed oakkit was missing he panicked and ran a different way through the forest to attempt to find him. when he couldn't spot the kit pinethistle ran back to shadowclan and organized a quick patrol to search the area for the kit while birchwhisper was frantic. "you lost him!" birchwhisper had yelled. "you lost him! you lost our son! how could you? how could you?!"

violetgaze, the deputy, organized several patrols in search of the kit, to no avail. for several days the kit was missing and gone, birchwhisper was frantic and leopardstep was anxious. pinethistle, during a patrol that took place on the 4th day of oakkit being gone, decided to patrol riverclan's territories one last time, as he felt they had not been thoroughly searched. and they found oakkit, scared and alone and huddled in an abandoned fox den where he had been staying for days. he explained that he saw a piece of prey and wanted to surprise pinethistle by catching it while he wasnt looking, but it ended up running off and he chased it all the way into thunderclan territory, where he got lost and ran towards riverclan and found an abandoned fox's den and slept in it in hopes that a riverclan patrol or anyone would find him. pinethistle said it was good of him to stay in one place and not try to find shadowclan by himself. they took the kit back to shadowclan where birchwhisper held and hugged her kit and. this is where the Problems started.

birchwhisper was happy to have her kit back, yes, but this began the beginning of her protectiveness and paranoia over her kit. if her own son could have been so foolish to lose him and have him be lost in an empty open forest for several days then she didn't trust for him to be around anyone without her or withotu leopardstep. she would not let oakkit out of her sight. confined to the nursery is where he would stay.

pinethistle and birchwhisper's relationship quickly went sour and birchwhisper didn't let him come anywhere near oakkit, not even to give prey or just say hello. so he starts ranting to tansydust again, who's still his friend, but he hasn't felt the need to rant to her often so it comes as a surprise to tansydust. tansydust advised he talk to leopardstep about it but leopardstep was just th same as birchwhisper, feeling guilty for letting his own son go missing as if it was his own fault. and of course birchwhisper didnt help, saying it wasn't hisf ault, but was pinethistle's instead. leopardstep's own paranoia about losing oakkit again caused him and birchwhisper to isolate themselves from everyone, including pinethistle. so when oakkit became an apprentice, his mentor was... birchwhisper. mudstar insisted that leopardstep be his mentor and though birchwhisper allowed leopardstep to be a co-mentor to him, she insisted she herself train oakpaw.

this made pinethistle extremely jealous. when pinethistle became an apprentice his mentor was a lousy young warrior who knew nothing about training an apprentice. but oakpaw, because he was stupid enough to think he could catch a mouse by himself, gets both birchwhisper and technically leopardstep as his mentor(s).

unebelievable.

but this, however, didn't come without its consequences.
