terrence - a revelation
Tumblr media
you know you’ve got me in the palm of your hand … … but i love those hands - mean it by lauv
dear terrence,
the universe has no limits and my heart belongs to you
kisses of ore
words are pretty, especially when you string them up, sentences like pearl necklaces sung raspy, they taste metallic, like glittering, glimmering, glorious gold; shining, stainless steel sung right, they can have an impact so great they leave a crater the same way meteors do and i think you sang in all the right ways that day because until now your lips still taste like gold.
watching you
you look like a movie. the slight curve of your mouth when you fight to not smile, the way you tilt your head back when you laugh, the gentle slope of your shoulders when you shrug.
all of it draws me in, the curves of your skin and the way your veins pop when you strum the guitar, the reflection of the crowd in your eyes glaringly brilliant when the spotlight shines.
watching you through the curtains, hair ruffling in the same breeze that caresses the tips of evergreen trees.
the only thing i want is for you to fit just right into my hands, like you were the only thing i was meant to hold.
on my knees
when you paced the field eyes fixed on the starry sky languid, moving swiftly under the gaze – of the watchful moonlight, and mine. you looked like heartbreak, a player, a hangover but you were different, different, though i never knew. not until promises and honeyed kisses at window ledges, cheap rings bought at dollar stores, that sparkled if the sun hit it just right. i was crazy for you, and just a glance would make my knees fold.
hazily
do it. touch me like the radiant sun's rays touch the sunflower's eager face, softly caressing it with its warmth.
kiss me like you’ve never kissed before, sweetly, like sticky chocolate residue dripping from a lava cake.
tell me all the things i want to hear, serenade me with your lyrical prowess, make me want to live with you until we grow old.
narrator’s addition
when she met him, it hadn’t been a revelation.
Boys are so pretty. They have the fluffiest, messiest hair in the universe, some thick and some thin, in shades like black, brown or sometimes dirty blonde. Their eyes sparkle with something different, untainted by the pressurising worldview of society.
her heart hadn’t gone fluttery and her skin hadn’t tingled.
The way they dress so casually, shirt thrown on and jeans hanging on their hips, knees peeking out through ripped fabric sometimes. Sometimes the clothes hug their skin, muscles and fat defined by the cloth, and sometimes the clothes hang loose on their figures, baggy and two sizes too large.
her attention hadn’t remained settled on him the entirety of the day.
They come in all shapes and sizes, small boys that fit just right when you hug them from behind, boys too tall that you have to tiptoe to kiss them, boys with big muscles or pudgy stomachs and soft chins. Boys that push their glasses up their noses, boys that shake the hair out of their eyes, boys that finger the piercings on their ears.
at least, that's what she told herself.
Boys seek beauty in odd things, sometimes, in the jut of a chin or the curve of one’s elbow, or the building’s sharp angles that look slightly off, or the boat bobbing by the bay as you walk along the shore.
but denial only served to make her desire burn brighter.
The way they see the world, and the passionate way they explain their hobbies, eyes wide as they passionately gesticulate, emphasising their point so much you feel inclined to agree, because the way they love makes you want to love too.
not until falling so, so fast, did she realise she’d been falling from the start,
They have so many different kinds of laughter, the hiccuping, snorting laughter; the laughter that’s contagious when they smack you in delight; the soft, stifled laughter when there’s nothing funny to laugh about. And all types of laughter make you look at them lovingly, a snapshot of happiness lost to the ever-ticking clock of time.
ignoring all the warnings she was given,
Boys are so underrated. The world does not understand them enough, appreciate them enough, and so they change. But all I want to do is to tell them to stay pretty, to stay lovely and bursting with an enthusiasm the world needs.
forgetting whatever she had been told.

I know I didn't make a follow up post about Disneyland, but long story short, I survived, and it was incredible. I wish instagram still was connected to tumblr, you would've seen all my updates. If you want to see the pictures I posted, here's my instagram (you have to scroll a little because we celebrated both Easter and Lily's fourth birthday since we've been back) but it was amazing and I've since been suffering from the post-Disney blues more like depression 😭 since we've been home.
Galaxy's Edge was the BOMB and I just had to share my freaking ROGUE SQUADRON HELMET that I didn't even know EXISTED, because I wore my HU rogue squadron tank top (with the hoodie that you can't see) of course on Star Wars Land day (our last day) and it was just too perfect to pass up. It is so cool you guys. I AM SO COOL NOW. I CAN BE ROGUE NINE WHENEVER I WANT. I'M BASICALLY CORRAN HORN NOW!!
The blue milk was delicious! I wish I could've tried the green milk because it's supposedly even better, but it has grapefruit in it (damn you psych meds!!) so that was a bummer, but oh well. The x wing was SO COOL, and so was the Millennium Falcon (again, go to my instagram to see it (am I fishing for likes?! maybe 😉)) and while we couldn't ride the Rise of the Resistance because they don't do single riders, I was an engineer on Smuggler's Run and the group I was with was really welcoming and it was pretty fun! Also, my R2D2 ears were SO cute but SO uncomfortable which was a bummer, I had been wanting them for months and ended up preferring the cheap etsy ones I got me and the girls (you can see them in the instagram pics from the first two days!). But we met R2 while I was wearing the R2 ears, so, you know, that was PRETTY FUCKING COOL 😱
Last but not least, we found these amazing ILYIK spirit jerseys and while I typically am not a fan of the spirit jerseys I just couldn't pass these up. We have ILYIK engraved on our wedding bands, they were on my R2 wedding heels, on our cake topper, and on our third anniversary we painted this which has been above our beds ever since (this fall is our eighth anniversary)(look at us, what babies!):
Tumblr media
We did rope drop to fireworks every single park day, with one rest/pool day, and fuck it was exhausting and I was in soo much pain and so exhausted, but it was so damn worth it. SO WORTH IT YOU GUYS. I cried when we left the gates the last night, because it had been soo magical and such an incredible time and I had been so happy and... when am I going to be that happy again?! Fuck if I know. Seriously 😭 hence the post-Disney blues/depression...
It was just amazing. Magical. Everything you could've hoped for. The girls had the best time. I was so stressed out and sure, I forgot ninety percent of my personal hygiene stuff because I had to pack everyone else's shit but hey that's motherhood for you.
Okay, this was supposed to be a Star Wars souvenir appreciation post but it's getting away from me a bit... anyway. I survived Disneyland 2024. I wish I could go back. Someone take me back?!

rhysal - only in passing
Tumblr media
i got the windows up but i can hear enough for it to bring me back to the way we loved feeling so big, feeling sober, feeling alive - run it by midnight kids, annika wells
wonder // before
i saw you, slipping on the football field, feet muddy and shoes soiled i caught you, out late partying, loud giggling drowning out the constant hum of party noise i met you, during sleepovers with s’mores and marshmallows, tucked into too-heavy sheets head spinning, giddy with excitement. could you smell that sickly sweet perfume the haze of confusion, the hangovers i tried to sleep off? did you notice my frills and silks hair adorned with pretty pink flowers smiles plastered on my face could you tell i was trying too hard to fit in, to be seen, to be perfect, always. i wonder if you knew me before you even met me.
questions // within
did i ever stop? barreling through like a hurricane, a train in a rush. with no particular destination, the drive needed to be released.
yes, when you made me. laying at the beach, sprawled over picnic mats on top of the coarse sand.
feet tangled together, lips dry and chapped, promises still fresh on our salt-sprayed lips, skin sticky with seawater.
choices // during
play; with boys’ hearts or cards late at night dance; on the stage or around their mindless questions you were too absorbed in being good to care what people thought of you.
at the same time
while they were meeting boys and falling in love, kissing at midnight, hidden by the branches of trees. we were also kissing behind books and baseball caps hidden in the soft comfort of bean bags in libraries they ran wild, pride bursting with the thought that they were ‘different’. we ran away, cornered like animals, because we were different.
our happily ever after // an ‘end’
rhysal has kissed me before, when my tears dripped down my cheeks. she kissed my injuries away, the top of my forehead when i was sick, but none of them hurt quite as bad as this.
we jumped into it so fast, like moths to a flame, burning up without realising it. too caught up in the thrill of it all to see the edge of the cliff we were running towards.
it was too much too soon, and as soon as the butterflies in our stomachs and the tingles on our skin were gone, we were left to see that it had all been naïveté and stupid fever dreams.
it was over now, reduced to a soft, throbbing love, of lovers to friends, of goodnight kisses to goodnight hugs, of drunk kissing to drunk laughter.
and that was … surprisingly okay with me. it was a passing thing, not meant to last, and it had been beautiful while it lasted. now, it was over. perhaps the reason i was so okay with it was because it was almost as if we were destined to never be more than friends.
from the day i met her to the day we broke up, i always felt a disbelief in me that she would ever want to be with me. and though my fears that she would leave were half-proven right, rhysal would never leave me.
i remember how she kissed me one last time, with love in her heart, bursting with unsaid words, softly, gently, before we said goodbye.

“There's something,” she said, running her hands once again up and down Lillian's thighs, “erotic, about a train. Don't you think?” “Enlighten me,” said Lillian, who had yet to lose her poise. “The strength of the steel,” said Dagny. “All the parts of the engine, moving in perfect synchronicity – the powerful onward thrust across the country – do you see it?” “I think,” said Lillian. “You need a man in your life.”
🚨🚨🚨🚨I WROTE THIS FOR THE BIT. I HAVE NOT READ ATLAS SHRUGGED. DO NOT BEAT ME WITH HAMMERS. 🚨🚨🚨🚨
so one of my friends has read Atlas Shrugged due to (best as I can tell) morbid fascination and as she likes to torture us with awful movies she made us sit through parts I and II. this in turn led to a conversation about Atlas Shrugged fanfiction which in turn led to this:
Friend who reads f/f content exclusively: what is the top lesbian pairing?
Friend who is morbidly obsessed with Atlas Shrugged: there's only one woman in Atlas Shrugged. there's no lesbian content.
Friend who reads f/f content exclusively: that's not true. what about that woman who gave her the bracelet?
Me, in a fit of madness: we could make there be lesbian Atlas Shrugged fanfiction
anyway then they peer pressured me into writing Atlas Shrugged toxic yuri. So here it is!!

Audio Drama Recommendations, Pt. II
Tumblr media
For part one, click here. I went on another audio drama binge and I found some that were pretty fun to listen to. I usually tend to go after the ones that are completed because the longer the wait, the more likely I will forget the details, but this time I just went for anything that caught my attention. This also isn’t in any particular order.
The Magnus Archives – is a horror fiction anthology podcast written by Jonathan Sims, directed by Alexander J. Newall, and distributed by Rusty Quill.
The new Head Archivist of the Magnus Institute, Jonathan Sims, attempts to bring a seemingly neglected collection of people’s testimonials of their encounters with the supernatural up to date, converting them to audio and supplementing them with follow-up work from his small but dedicated team. [COMPLETED]
It has five seasons, each 40 episodes long, as well as additional content such as Q&As, non-canon fan-submitted statements and one-off episodes that tie in with Rusty Quill's other podcasts.
It does start out slow and maybe at some point you’ll be wondering where is this going and what does some of these episodes have to do with the overall story, but it does all eventually connect. Your patience will pay off because once the build-up is done it picks up and things get really interesting!
Unwell – is a horror podcast starring Clarisa Cherie Rios and produced by Hartlife NFP.
The story follows Lillian Harper who has returned home to Mt. Absalom, Ohio to care for her estranged mother Dorothy after an injury. Living in the town's boarding house which has been run by her family for generations, she discovers conspiracies, ghosts, and a new family in the house's strange assortment of residents. [ONGOING]
This audio drama has five seasons which runs for 12 episodes. It currently has 54 episodes in total and each one is about 20-30 minutes long. New episodes are released fortnightly (biweekly) on Wednesdays. They take a mid-season break between episodes 6 and 7.
Bridgewater – is a supernatural thriller audio drama produced by Grim & Mild and by iHeartRadio, created by Aaron Mahnke and written/directed by Lauren Shippen.
Folklore professor Jeremy Bradshaw is pulled into the mysterious 1980 disappearance of his police officer father, Thomas, by new evidence that threatens to upend decades of certainty. Along the way, he’s helped by some unlikely partners who challenge everything he believes in, and ultimately tries to answer the question: can the past actually be rewritten?
Together with his father’s former partner, retired Detective Anne Becker, Jeremy must chase the clues that will tell him whether his father really did fall victim to a Satanic cult in the Bridgewater Triangle—or something much more dark and unexplainable. [ONGOING]
It has two seasons, the first consist of 10 episodes and the second has 12 episodes. Each one runs about 20-30 minutes long. Season three was put on hold when there was news of a possible television series. However, that fell through and by then everyone was working on other projects. So a season three, well, that’s pretty much up in the air.
It stars Misha Collins (Supernatural), Melissa Ponzio (Teen Wolf), Nathan Fillion (Firefly, The Rookie), Karan Soni (Deadpool), Kristin Bauer (True Blood), Hilarie Burton Morgan (The Walking Dead, One Tree Hill), Wil Wheaton (Star Trek: The Next Generation), Jonathan Joss (The Magnificent Seven, Parks and Rec) and Lori Alan (Spongebob Squarepants, Family Guy).
The Lovecraft Investigations -- is a mystery thriller/horror fiction podcast written and directed by Julian Simpson, based on several works of H.P. Lovecraft. It’s produced by Sweet Talk Productions for BBC Radio 4. It concluded with three seasons and each episode is about 25-30 minutes long. There might be a fourth season in the works, but even if there isn’t the series is considered to be finished.
The first season starts off with an investigation into the disappearance of a young man, Charles Dexter Ward from a locked room in an asylum. [COMPLETED]
It stars Barnaby Kay (Shakespeare in Love), Jana Carpenter (Doctor Who), Nicola Walker (MI-5, Unforgotten), Mark Bazeley (The Queen, The Bourne Ultimatum), Phoebe Fox (Eye in the Sky, The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death), Steven Mackintosh (Rang De Basanti, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels), Samuel Barnett (Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, Penny Dreadful), Alun Armstrong (Sleepy Hollow, The Mummy Returns), Adam Godley (The Great, The Umbrella Academy), and so on.
Midnight Burger – is a monthly sci-fi audio drama about a diner at the end – and somehow the beginning – of the universe.
When Gloria took a waitressing job at Midnight Burger outside of Phoenix, she didn’t realize she was now an employee of a time-traveling, dimension-spanning diner. Every day Midnight Burger appears somewhere new in the cosmos along with its staff: a galactic drifter, a rogue theoretical physicist, a sentient old-timey radio, and some guy named Caspar.
No one knows who built Midnight Burger or how it works, but when it appears there's always someone around who could really use a cup of coffee. Come by any time, we open at six. [ONGOING]
The audio drama currently has three seasons and each episodes averages about 30 minutes to an hour or so.
Rex Rivetter: Private Eye – is a 1950s-style noir detective audio drama written by Greg McAfee, directed by Rhiannon McAfee, and produced in San Diego, CA by Downstairs Entertainment with editing and sound design by Steve Murdock. The Rex Rivetter theme “Nightmare” by the Artie Shaw Orchestra is used with permission of Music Sales Corp.
The year is 1955. Tinsel town. The land of make-believe. It's a time of growth in American prosperity. Especially in Los Angeles. Here, dreams are bought and sold.
But there's a seedier side to the City of Angels, the shadows where pimps and narcotics pushers live, where organized crime stands just around every corner with one hand out, and the other wrapped around a roscoe. It's a city full of fancy dames and slick cons, where bookies know the vig, so you better, too.
Some folks call it noir or pulp fiction. But for a private eye named Rex Rivetter, it's home. [ONGOING]
It has four seasons and each one runs about 20-30 minutes long. Due to the pandemic, it is still unknown if season five will ever come out and so far there hasn’t been any news about it either.
Mansfield Mysteries – is a satirical, cozy murder whodunit written by Amy Henson, directed by Nicholas Hoyt and produced by The QuaranTeam.
It follows the inquisitive, martini-loving socialite Dorinda Mansfield and is set in quiet, affluent Berkshire Bay. So far it only has one season, which contains nine hilarious episodes, each three-chapter story finds Dorinda wrapped up in a new murder. With the help of her devoted daughter, Stacey—as well as the occasional frenemy—Dorinda digs for clues, navigates Berkshire Bay’s elite social circles, and sifts through years’ worth of grudges and motives. In this company town, no one can be trusted, and everyone has something to hide.
Whether at the Labor Day Extravaganza, the Halloween Tennis Club Open, or secret karaoke night, Dorinda sets out to find the real killer before they get away with murder… Just as soon as she orders her martini! [COMPLETED]
If you’re looking for a bite-sized audio drama, this might be for you. It has three seasons (or chapters) and each one only takes three episodes to complete its tales, which is fun, amusing and will keep you entertained while you’re working on something or resting your eyes.
The Call of the Void – is an indie science fiction mystery audio drama created and written by Josie Eli Herman and Michael Alan Herman. It’s produced by Acorn Arts & Entertainment. It contains three seasons of 28 episodes and each one is about 25-30 minutes long with a cast of about 35 actors.
In the bustling streets of New Orleans, a tour guide and a palm-reading outcast team up to unravel the mystery behind cases of sudden insanity besetting the city. [COMPLETED]
Wolf 359 – is a science fiction audio drama created by Gabriel Urbina and produced by Gabriel Urbina and Zach Valenti under Kinda Evil Genius Productions. It consists of four seasons with 61 episodes in total and each one is about 25-40 minutes long.
It is set on board the U.S.S. Hephaestus space station orbiting the star Wolf 359 on a deep space survey mission. The dysfunctional crew deals with daily life-or-death emergencies, while searching for signs of alien life and discovering there might be more to their mission than they thought. [COMPLETED]

Someone please please help me. I have a ficlet somewhere on here from around the time the series finale aired, and basically did an au where Lena healed Lillian with her magic.
I CANNOT FIND IT.
I have tried looking for every tag I can think of, the blog search on the app sucks ass, my archive isn't helpful unless I have the exact date, and google is sapping my will to live.
Does anyone have it bookmarked somewhere? I wanna see if there's room for me to extend it or do a follow up of some kind...
