You won’t believe how much I am longing for the daffodils to come up and show their pretty, cheerful, yellow faces like in this photo taken in my garden last year. I have planted plenty of new daffodils last autumn and hope that some from the year before have naturalized and come up, again. Unfortunately, so far I have only a few green leave tips showing that I can count on one hand and not a single flower bud in sight, yet. Will the other daffs emerge? Will they bloom? Do I have a crop fail? Anxious thoughts of a still relatively new Central Texas gardener. I am curious to know if you have daffodils planted in your garden and where you are on the spectrum of: „my daffs are blooming already“ to „they are a complete no show up to now“? Longing for spring…🍃 Yes, you read that correctly. Me, the winter-lover, actually feels that it’s time for spring to come. Not that this winter has been very cold or snowy so far - quite the opposite - but so dark!☁ I heard that it actually is pretty much the darkest winter with the least amount of sunshine ever in like.. forever? This week we finally get some sunshine and oh it’s so needed! I really don’t mind the cold or snow, I love it, but all of this darkness really affects my emotional state so much and not in a good way. I’m doing all the things to keep my mind in a healthy state such as supplementing vitamin D, working out, eating nutritious food etc but still: There’s nothing that can replace the uplifting effect of warm rays of the sun touching your face.☀ How about you, does all of this darkness affect you emotionally?
