Lunartides where Macaque gets babied a little?

It’s so strange to him to be touched, spoken to and overall loved in such a gentle way

He has no idea what to do with himself and this whole experience is how Sandy figures out he can purr

Sandy was gentle.

It was the first thing Macaque learned about the guy.

He was a gentle giant, so capable of hurting but choosing peace. He worried about his loved ones, like his cat. (Macaque was never gonna get over having to meow.) It almost reminded him of Demon Bull King, before a memory of him trying to win a arm wrestling match with Wukong snuck in.

Sandy didn't try to arm wrestle. He didn't try to fight in general. He could, he had the power, but he didn't want it. He wanted to be gentle, so gentle he was.

Macaque couldn't remember what it was like to be treated gently. He didn't remember the last time he purred like now, snuggled gently in Sandy's arms.

But, even as Sandy cooed at the soft noise, he didn't mind.

Tbh the reason I like this ship is that I think they Both have something to offer to the other. The aspect of Sandy looking after Macaque's well-being, and the latter feeling not only safe but also be perfectly understood -- I think that's the biggest heart of this pairing.

Sandy is not Macaque's therapist, but someone who has likely gone through similar trauma, and a violently, anger-fueled past. Both were absolutely merciless against their enemies, and have had days where the only person that could look out for them at their weakest moments were just themselves. Always looking out for number one.

Sandy doesn't always have to be smiling all the time or hide his own problems, true feelings, or the Rare, dark thought if something terrible from the past comes back to him in spades. At times, I feel he's the type that might have the habit of burying his feelings if it's not urgent. Macaque can absolutely feel safe and respected but he can also just as well understand Sandy back if given enough trust and time in their friendship. And if it really goes well, and it becomes something more -- one day, he's running into Sandy's arms and the latter just encompasses him in a safe, warm hug. Him feeling completely secure in a new, refreshing start-- with someone who was just as angry, hurt, maybe even despised, but absolutely compassionate of his past mistakes and feelings. They both may have done things they regret, and caused them equal exchange of pain and suffering, but now they have someone by their side who is going through -- or has had a head start -- on that same pathway.

Both are equally on an unending journey of healing and improvement. So it's not just necessarily "Sandy > Macaque"; not one side fixing all of the other's problems. But someone who's willing to share his acquired wisdom and help out as much as he can-- to which Sandy is starkly aware how easier the process is when you weren't alone.

That's probably a pretty safe bet for Macaque.. I mean, Sandy is not only a very gentle and safe person to be around, which is something that would do Macaque a lot of good, but he's also no pushover. He doesn't fight anymore, but he is probably the most likely person to be able to not die when facing a pissed off Monkey King lol

HMMMMMMM (sorry it took me so long to get to this ive been bad at replying to asks lately) I havent thought about lunartides enough for Hc's but i might have a few

Macaque helps sandy take care of the cats sometimes.

Macaque isnt a morning person but sandy is and brings him morning tea/coffee

Macaque is the "he asked for no pickles" while sandy stands behind him smiling innocently

Macaque is also the "touch him and ill fucking kill you" but not in the jealous sense in the "if you hurt him I will kill you and I'm not exaggerating"

Meanwhile because of his pacifism Macaque doesn't expect the same from Sandy but if someone is trying to hurt Macaque sandy will definitly pick up he person, put them on a high shelf where they cant get down and then pick up Macaque and walk away

Cause of Sandys height he picks up and holds Macaque like a cat.

Macaque is little spoon.

When they cuddle Macaque often curls up around himself, he does that when sleeping and Sandy curls up around Macaque.

Macaque has clones in Sandys shadow, Sandy knows and tries to give them treats sometimes.

Step 1: Explain how Sandy and Macaque played the same roles in their friend group/brotherhood and how they're past/current actions match the others-

Sandy in the past was violent and aggressive- Macaque's current life

Macaque in the past used to be the voice of reason and tried to find solutions without a fight- Sandy's current life

That's why lunartides is a comfort ship because these two have lived a similar life in the past and can understand why the other acts that way

└ i think they would’ve started talking because MK suggested Macaque tries to find ways to release his stress, and the monkey didn’t wanna go to an actual therapist so, therapy cats it was.

└ They eventually started having casual conversation while Mac was there, at first because Macaque couldn’t stand he awkwardness, but eventually it was because he sub consciously wanted to talk to Sandy.

└ But this process took quite a few months, and they didn’t get together until a year and a half post LBD.

└ But even after so much time Macaque was very hesitant on touch unless he initiated it. He had to be the one to throw his arm around someone, he had to be the one to playfully punch someone’s shoulder. If someone else did it he either flinched and played it off, or just dodged it completely.

└ Macaque gets super flushed when Sandy points out his progress, but not in a negative way. Sure it’s embarrassing to know he’s gotten so close to someone, but it’s helped to just try to not think about it. But Sandy notices when Macaque started hugging him with both arms not just one; when he lets Sandy touch him first on occasion.

└ Once Macaque is comfortable in the relationship he’ll start being flirty. Tired of people acting like Sandy is innocent, we all know what he said he was like, and also HE’S A WHOLE ADULT. cough, anyway. Sandy sometimes flirts back.

└ Sandy asked if he could help clean Mac’s fur one day, and sometimes the monkey will shuffle towards him slowly and ask if the bigger could do it for him. Sandy wasn’t allowed to touch his ears for months though.

└ Their relationship doesn’t really start out as a “will you be my boyfriend?” situation, eventually Macaque and Sandy just get more affectionate w each other until someone asks if they’re dating. Sandy kind of just thought they were but didn’t give it too much thought because neither asked. Macaque didn’t really think about his feelings until the question was popped out.

└ Mac when he first starting visiting had actually hissed at any cats that hissed at him, Sandy always kinda just laughed and moved on.

└ Macaque is the first one to say I love you!! shocker!! but i think Sandy would wait for Mac to say it first, he knows a good summary of Mac’s past relationships and doesn’t wanna make him uncomfy by rushing anything

└ Mac can easily travel via shadows, but at some point he opts for sitting on Sandy’s arm or shoulder.

└ After the monkey is comfortable, when they’re alone he gives Sandy lots of kisses. Listen, i’m talking all over his arms, face, etc. They’re usually kinda quick. But Sandy, Sandy doesn’t hesitate to give Macaque kisses on both sides of his face, his lips, his hands, and give him compliments while doing so. It’s not too much for Mac once he gets used to it.

└ Mac tries a bunch of teas for Sandy, and Sandy tries coffee for Mac. Macaque likes his coffee black, he’s just gotten used to it because he can’t always get creamer, and he just prefers it. So he has Sandy try it black and he hates it, he might not have said so but Mac could tell. So he sighs and puts creamer he leaves in Sandy’s house in it, just in case he wants pizzazz in his coffee that day. Then has him retry it, and boom Sandy is in love with two things.

"Oh, hi!" Sandy looked up from his knitting. Winter was coming in and, even with the weather station, the weather still got a tad cool, so he needed to prepare sweaters for hairless cats. Macaque, on the other hand, had been "invited" to go out drinking with some collegues.

Based on his smile as he leaned against the doorframe, the night had been better than expected.

"How was it?"

Macaque pushed away from the door and took a step. "It was-" He stumbled. It was only Sandy pushing away the knitting to launch forward that saved him from slamming his face into the floor. Still, his sunny smile remained. "It was great! I even got to blow up the bar at the end!"

"Uh, huh, really." Oh boy. So the night hadn't gone as well as hoped.

"Yeah." Macaque nodded as Sandy settled down on the couch. He probably should've gone to get his partner some water, but it was rare to see a smile like that on Macaque's face. "They thought Wukong was all hard muscle and stuff and refused to believe me when I said he had great..." Macaque gestured to his chest. "I mean you have a great chest too, but he has a really nice chest."

"I believe you." Sandy patted his head. "Wukong has really pretty hair as well."

"Not as pretty as yours!" Macaque grinned before moving up. Sandy could barely take in the light touch of Macaque's hands- even with him and Pigsy feeding him, he was still so skinny- before his cheeks were squished. "You...are super pretty. With the prettiest fucking hair I've ever seen!"

Sandy couldn't help but chuckle. Macaque should be like this more sometimes...at least, without the booze.

"And you have the prettiest smile."
