Reasons for being generic + Propaganda below

Tracey Sketchit

Reasons:

He has a very "just some guy" vibe, spending most of his time as a background character quietly observing after his 30ish episodes as a main character. Former head writer Takeshi Shudo himself once said on his blog that he thought Tracey didn't have a strong enough personality. Appearance-wise, Tracey has dark hair and brown eyes and doesn't stand out all that much.

He is literally *just* a guy. The best guy, but just a guy. A little dude, little fella. The guy ever.

Tracey is an incredibly sweet respectful king who got sidelined by the anime. It’s so sad because he loves drawing and research and pokemon, but he barely got any screentime 😔 I think he’s a wholesome fun character and he deserves more love!! 

Propaganda:

Despite the fact that large swathes of the fandom either give him flak for being "boring" or completely forget about his existence, to the point that people also meme about his forgotten-ness, he has persisted. He went 17 years without a single line of dialogue due to his expensive seiyuu and then finally got to speak again in the final episode of Ash's story. He has 12 fans but we are dedicated and we are proud and we adore this sweet boy.

Tracey is king. Respects women, stays in his lane, draws pokemon. What’s not to love???

MC (DDLC)

Reasons: 

Barely even qualifies as a character. He doesn't have a canon appearance AFAIK but fanon depictions are almost universally Generic Japanese Boi With Messy Brown Or Black Hair. His only stated interest in the game is anime/manga and his only motivation is to spend some time with some cute girls (and later to help his friend who has depression.) He is so generic that unlike everyone else in the game, he does not have a character file, meaning he is the only one who, in-universe, does not have any dynamic personality traits to speak of.

Brown hair, little to no unique characterisation, your average dating sim insert who is no longer relevant by the end

Yuri was a gacha kid back in 2017-2019 (maybe also early 2020) (assuming that DDLC takes place *later* than that). She probably tried and failed to do a subversive version of The Hated Child but it was really bad and edgy and she was a very socially anxious child so she never uploaded it anywhere and she also did the same with a VERY lesbian mini movie about the female leads of two completely seperate novels she had read around the time. She still has the screenshots on her old tablet and she can't find it in herself to get rid of them. They show her that yes she has grown. (she was mature enough to be able to seperate herself from the fandom when... that kind of stuff started up)

Sayori was ALSO a gacha kid and somehow never saw THAT side of the community, even if she was AWARE it existed. She made multiple versions of EVERY typical glmm + glmv (mini movie + music video) to ever exist and still looks at those days fondly. She made MC edit her videos for her because she didn't know how kinemaster worked (he didn't either but it kickstarted his journey into video making). Eventually the two decided that despite being in high school, they could use their combined (actually good) editing skills + (actually good) storytelling and character design skills and make a reboot of one of the only very original mini movie concepts

Unsurprisingly, Natsuki WAS ALSO ONE. She also never uploaded anything because all she did was use the character creator to remake characters from whatever anime she was watching at the time + her dad would definitely find out. It also somewhat cracked her egg lol

Meanwhile Monika didn't really know anything about the franchise until recently when hearing Sayori and MC talk about their reboot project and now she is obsessed with it and the rest of the club is showing her the true classics. She now has a playlist of all the songs used in music videos back in those days
