Childhood memories via @medinadugger • • • • • • Purple Irun Kiko ・・・ From the series ‘Chroma: An Ode to J.D. 'Okhai Ojeikere’, 2017 - Ongoing. . . Chroma: An Ode to J.D. Okhai Ojeikere, is an on-going series which celebrates women’s hair styles in Nigeria through a fanciful, contemporary lens. The images are inspired by hair color trends in Lagos, by the late Nigerian photographer J.D. Ojeikere and to spotlight a unique Nigerian tradition in response to the globalization of fashion and style today. Chroma takes a whimsical approach and recontextualises some of his and other hairstyles to highlight current and imagined hair designs, celebrating the art of Nigerian hair culture. #MedinaDugger #HairStyles #Ojeikere #batikfashion #purplehairdontcare #purplehair #Lagosstyle #colorblock #nigerianhairstyles #plaits #boxbraids #threading #hairdesigns #threading #popart #hairthreading #irunkiko #colorblock https://www.instagram.com/p/B_c-FHOBxF_/?igshid=83v41enpdau2

I’m doing fantastic, thank you. I just had my birthday and my Mom told me I am “light” which is made of all the colors of the visible spectrum. Can’t argue with Mom. I adore colors and their unique relation to one another when combined in surprising ways.
What do you do and why do you do it?
I live life in Lagos, Nigeria and take photographs. I do it for many reasons, but mostly because it fulfills me, challenges me and gives me a natural high. I also do creative consulting for Moon Man Studios in the UK.
What would you do if you weren’t doing what you are?
I would start a garden and grow organic food, be involved in environment protection and focus on integrative health/medicine. I think I will do all these things one day.
Where are you from and where are you going?
Mostly central California. It’s not the LA or San Fran Cali most think of. People call it the ‘armpit’ of California but the mountains are beautiful. My mother lived a bohemian life during my childhood, we moved every year, sometimes twice a year till I was 16. I plan to keep my base in Lagos, and go most anywhere photography and life take me.
What would you like to know about the world?
If there will be a time when the majority of humanity comes from a place of love for each other instead of fear and if I will meet my loved ones again once we leave the world we know.
What should the world know about you?
That everyday I am working more on coming from a place of love.
Who would you like to meet and what would you say to them?
I would love to meet Oprah Winfrey. I would ask her to please run for president next term.
What are you here for and what do you dream about?
I believe we are here on earth to evolve our soul. I dream about balance and positive growth in my health, life, relationships and photographic practice. Always dreaming about my next best photo.
