SYPNOSIS: Being the sole heir to the throne, Aetherlyn's princess faithfully fulfils her obligations as both a princess and a clandestine assassin. She had been commanded by the imperial court of Aetherlyn and Mermaidia to eliminate Mysthaven's seven vampire princes. After conducting some research, the princess is confident that she will succeed in her quest as the power she temporarily wields is unrivalled compared to theirs, but little does she know that the seven princes possess powers unlike any other due to their dual nature. From the moment she has been captured by the princes, she begins to experience things that have never happened to her before, and eventually the same happens to the princes. However, as it is not a pressing matter to them, they forgo it and focus on the crucial matter at hand, which is to retrieve the crystal heart of Oceania. As the Aetherlyn Princess is under disguise as a mermaidian, she is forced to be their guide to assist them in achieving their goals. However, their feelings begin to shift towards the princess as they embark on their long journey. Perhaps it has to do with the dreams or visions they had with the princess whom they considered their enemy, but as days pass, their feelings grow profound until they are thrown into a situation that leaves them with limited options to choose between their royal duties and the princess who turns out to be their beloved in their past lives.

Siren
Chapter 7
“What’s on your mind?” Cyrus asked him and Hugo swam further down.
Hugo sighed. “I can’t go through with this plan…I know it was important to Donella. Hell, it was important to me. But…”
Cyrus chuckled. “I’ve seen that look before.”
“What look?”
“It’s the same one Donella has when she thinks about Ulla.”
 “About Ulla-“
“There you boys are!” Donella swam over, her braid whipping back as she came over to Hugo. “Hugo. You look sick. What happened? Cyrus told me you sent him a message?”
“Uh yeah…it’s a bit of a long story.”
“Did those sailors hurt you?”
Hugo shook his head. “Not the crew we were going for. Pirates. Cyrus drowned them.”
Donella sighed. “I saw. The other sirens are feasting as we speak. How did you end up there?”
Hugo recounted the whole story, even up to the points to where he and Varian started getting close. Donella rubbed her face.
“I didn’t expect you to get soft on me.”
“Donella, he’s Ullas son. That has to change things.”
Donella paused, tail swishing. “It does…what do you think of all of this, Cyrus?”
Cyrus sat on a rock, tail curling around it. “Not sure. It certainly changes our plans around. We cant just drown the Sundrop when they drift into our territory now…”
Hugo sighed. “I’m sorry.”
Donella held up a hand. “Don’t be. This…this is good information. We just need a moment to figure out our new moves. If we don’t do this, the others will riot. That we can handle…but we have other objectives as well.”
“…why were we targeting this ship in the first place, Don? You never really told me other than “it’s the one ship we could never capsize.”
Cyrus and Donella looked at each other, then Cyrus nodded at her.
“Alright. You deserve to know. There is a mermaidian relic on that ship. We figured we could just capsize and take it once it’s under the waves.”
“What is it?” Hugo asked.
“A full moon stone ring. You’ve seen Cyrus control the waves up top right?”
Hugo nodded softly.
“I do that with this.” Cyrus held out a ring with a Cresent moon shaped gem in it. “It’s fairly limited. I can only use it once per full moon, then it has to be recharged under its light. But it’s what allows me to control waves like I did hen I overtook the pirate ship.”
Donella nodded. “It’s only a Crescent moon. A full moon would let us control the waves much more. It’s on the sun drop.”
Hugo raised an eyebrow. “How do you know?”
“Rings can sense each other. The closer we get to it, the more my ring glows.” Cyrus said.
“Was this always the plan?” Hugo frowned.
Donella shook her head. “Towards the beginning it was just drowning the ship out of pure annoyance… Then his ring started glowing, and our objectives changed slightly. And now they’ve seemed to change again.”
Hugo rubbed the back of his neck.
Donella sighed. “Okay. Your new mission is to get that moon ring at any cost before they come into our territory. We wont take the ship if we don’t have to, but if we do…just be prepared to save whoever you need to save.”
Hugo frowned. “…Can I tell Varian?”
Cyrus winced. “Probably not the best idea, kid.”
Donella nodded. “Get any information you can but I would recommend you leave Varian out of it for now. He probably won’t like the idea of you stealing from his crew.”
Hugo nodded, if a bit guilty that he wouldn’t be able to tell Varian about it.
Cyrus had come over and put a hand on the blondes shoulder. “I know it’s not easy, but once it’s over, you can stop the theatrics. Just one last job.”
Hugo sighed. “I just don’t want to hurt him…not after what we’ve just been through.”
Donella looked down. “I get it. I do. When I was your age, I had similar feelings for Ulla. But keeping this secret is protecting him. This thing is dangerous in humans hands.”
“But Varian’s only half human. Surely, he can be trusted.”
Donella frowned. “He’s also only half Mer. He was also raised by humans. Unless he has a tail and gills?”
Hugo looked down. “No…he told me himself that he doesn’t.”
“Then we can’t trust him with this. Humans, even half humans, will always side with humans. Just know that before you get your heart broken.”
“Theres gotta be a better way.”
Donella frowned. “You are the better way, Hugo. Would you rather us drown the ship?”
“…No.”
“Good. Now get back up there.”
--
Varian hadn’t left the edge of the ship, sitting by the railing as Rudiger curled up in his lap. The boy smiled a bit.
Adira sat down next to him. “Kid, I don’t mean to sound insensitive but, a siren?”
Varian chuckled. “I didn’t know for sure till this morning.”
Adira frowned. “When your dad fell in love with Ulla, we warned him she’d always return to the sea eventually. He assured us that she would always return. And for years, that was the case…then one time, she never came back.”
Varian frowned. He remembered that day when the two realized she wasn’t coming home. How devastated he and his father had been. How much crying there had been upon this very ship. Varian pet Rudiger with a small frown.
“The merpeople need the sea. Not just for survival but because the ocean is them, and what belongs to the sea will always return. Why do you think I haven’t seen Cyrus in years?”
“…How did you two meets?”
“Your mom, actually…he was the one who informed your dad she wasn’t coming home.” Adira sighed. “I’m not telling you not to pursue this. You’re not your parents, after all. Just, be careful, and know the risks.”
Varian nodded softly. “I will…thanks Adira.” He leaned on his aunts side. She wrapped an arm around him. Varian took solace in the fact that he was the only one besides his uncle and dad that could touch her. He remembered being small and digging his face into her jacket when he was scared, and his dad wasn’t around.
“You want to see him?” Adira asked, seemingly reading Varian’s mind. She did that a lot.
Varian shook his head. “…No…I…Its too hard when I cant wake him.” Varian felt the tears prickle in his eyes. “Do you think he’ll ever wake up?”
“Honestly kid, I don’t know…but I hope so.”
A wave hit the boat. And once it cleared, Hugo and Cyrus, clothes and hair soaked in sea water were there. Varian smiled.
“Hugo!”
Varian stood, holding Rudiger tight, and tackled hugged Hugo, who hugged back just as tight. A squished Rudiger made an annoyed noise in the middle.
Both boys laughed as they pulled away. “sorry buddy.” Varian put down the raccoon gently.
“I better be going.” Cyrus said, putting a hand on Hugos shoulder. “Don’t scare me like that again.”
Hugo nodded. “Thank you, Cyrus.”
Cyrus gave Hugo a soft look. “Anytime.”
With that, Cyrus jumped into the water. Adira stood and stretched. “We better get you back to the Sundrop. Where were you headed before the pirates?”
“Rosas.” Varian replied.
Adira nodded and walked off, presumably to tell the helmsman where they were going. Hugo and Varian looked at each other. Hugo took Varian’s hand.
“Goggles, I’m sorry I was so…flighty earlier. I just- I didn’t- I wasn’t-“
Varian laughed lightly. Moon above Hugo loved that sound. Then Varian put a hand on Hugos cheek, who blushed deeply. “You don’t have to explain. I get it.”
Hugo paused, looking at his hand in Varian’s. “…I don’t think I’ve met anyone quite like you before.”
“I can say the same for you, Hugo.” Varian’s eyes were like the moon, big and bright and beautiful. They made Hugo’s heart flutter. Was this how the ocean goddess felt about the moon? He got it now. Understood that particular mythology better than ever before. Like a shining light in the darkness. His smile could light up the darkest parts of the sea.
Varian’s hand in his was a new but somehow familiar weight. Hugo squeezed it softly. “Varian?”
“Yes?”
“Can I try something?”
Varian had this smile, a glorious, knowing smile. He nodded softly.
Hugo moved forward to kiss him.
Before their lips could touch, the door slammed open. Both boys jumped out of their skin.
“Sun above Adira!” Varian yelled.
Adira smirked. “No kissing on my ship. You can save that for the Sundrop.”
Varian’s face was hot red. Hugo chuckled softly. Truth be told, he was a bit disappointed but the way Varian’s blushing face more than made up for it. He noticed that Varian’s hand hadn’t left his, which made Hugo smile wide.
 --
That night, Varian got settled for bed. Hugo was in another room, as per Adira’s orders. Rudiger was curled up at the end of his bed, sleeping soundly. Varian washed up the best he could, cleaning his hair most of all. It was full of dirt from the past week.
Then there was a knock at the door. Varian figured it was Adira, coming to say goodnight. “come in!”
Hugo opened the door. Varian smiled. “Hugo. I thought you were Adira.”
“No…just coming to say goodnight.” Hugo walked into the room. He had changed into some of the nightclothes that Adira had provided for him.
“Is that all?” Varian asked, taking Hugos hand. “No taking me under the waves?” he wiggled his eyebrow.
Hugo snorted. “That’s your attempt at flirting?”
“I’ve never done it before!” Varian said, embarrassed. “You’ve at least had experience.”
Hugo chuckled. “Its not that hard. Just say what’s on your mind…in a sexy way.”
Varian laughed, gently pushing Hugo away as he held his stomach. “You’re an idiot.”
Hugo smiled. “I know, sweetcheeks.”
Varian wiped away a stray tear and looked at Hugo. “I’m happy Rapunzel brought you on the ship, Hugo. Despite everything we went through with Andrew and his crew.”
“Me too.”
“You know that’s the one thing I cant figure out. Why did you come onto the ship in the first place? You could have just followed it by swimming.”
Hugo weighed his options for a moment, then decided. He’d give him the truth he needed to know. “Honestly, the Sundrop was the one ship we couldn’t take when you went through our waters. Donella was very annoyed. She sent me to figure it out.”
“So, you were going to-“
“I talked to her. That’s not going to happen next time you go through. The Sundrop is safe.” Hugo pushed down the feeling of guilt at that lie. Well, it wouldn’t be a lie if he could find that moon ring.
Varian breathed a sigh of relief. “Thank you, Hugo. Those guys are my family.”
Hugo nodded. “Yeah…you changed everything, Varian. I hope you know that.”
Varian blushed, then took Hugos hand. “So…about what you wanted to try earlier?”
Hugo chuckled. “Not tonight, hair stripe. I think Adira would literally kill me.”
Varian chuckled. “She wouldn’t.”
“I would.”
Both boys jumped. In the doorway was Adira. She was smiling.
“How long have you been standing there?” Hugo asked, face going red. He ignored Varian’s smirk.
“Long enough to see you make the decision that saved your life.” Adira said. “Time for bed, boys.”
Varian pouted. “Adira, we’re not children!”
“No but you’re on my ship. So, bedtime.”
Hugo sighed, smiling. “Goodnight, goggles.”
Varian squeezed Hugos hand. “Goodnight, Hugo.”
Adira watched as Hugo made his way out and to his own room.
“I’m putting a night guard in front of both your rooms in case you feel like acting like teenagers.” She said before walking away.
Varian groaned, and softly shut the door.

The witches brewed a powerful energy
when they struck gold beneath the iota stars of divine riches
the dwellers would look for the infinite nile of blissful dedication
only to return with only a penny and a few nickles
but these women knew not to tell the whole truth
as this could lead to our downfall and destruction
but in the arrays of light
the darkness had floundered the gold
and the witches knew to pick up their wands
and shift into the mermaidian empires
to look after the gold that was locked away
for so many centuries ago.

"He would rather feed you to his fishies, I bet," he says flatly, nodding again, "But as you wish. I will ask you again once I have approval."
I laugh and shake my head, “you might be surprised. He keeps offering up mermaidian cousins.”

The realm of Mermaidia is hidden behind a veil of endless waves, deepest sea and fog so impenetrable, that not a single sailor has ever entered its shores. The realm is flourishing under the watchful eye of Saela - Goddess of all Waters. The lives of all Mermaidians are guided by magical rituals and ancient customs.

Had a dream about a left 4 dead-style game where you are a mermaid archeologist studying the ancient mermaidian empire which fell thousands of years before the start of the game. The main job of a mermaid archeologist is putting to rest destructive ghosts and recruiting them for their knowledge. The left 4 dead influence comes in with the first-person perspective and combat style, along with your ability to have partners who help you in combat.

I swallow my daily pill and wish oh how I wish to be stuck in this ivory tower forever; it makes my head buzz and whirr, but oh how I know it is not the truth. I find comfort surrounded by books and the words and stories I manufacture to fit my own narrative. I want to feel love, I want to give love oh how much I do but how much I try I fall to cynicism. I am best locked up to tend to my studies, that is all I am good for. In trying to understand more and more, I fear I've transformed myself into too much of a fiction, a character, to fulfill some sort of male gaze-y desire to be seen listening to my soundtrack to block out the mechanical shrieks of the trains.
The other day me and my friends were playing a game, and I was told I was most likely to “need to shut the fuck up”. Just like how Ariel gives up her voice for the embrace of the world of legs, I often find myself in a mermaidian struggle similar, a creature stuck between human and myth, unaware of what to embrace in myself and giving myself up to shutting the fuck up in the pursuit of knowledge. Do I embrace the mysticism and “randomness” of childhood, if so how am I supposed to create a respected academic pursuit? And in my circle of friends I certainly feel estranged, although I love them, they do not understand me in the slightest and even if I try I would not be able to explain my life’s work, as just like in Candide, one cannot discuss the meaning of life and philosophical issues with just anyone, I usually find myself with the door shut in my face as well. In the end of Candide, he finds himself learning the meaning of life through cultivating his garden. I dream of fertile soil and butterflies, yet I am still in the city of possibilities. All these possibilities and I cannot cultivate my garden. The city’s focus is speed and efficiency, a hearth of the meaning of modern philosophy in its bureaucratic and informational culture of effectiveness and seemingly endless momentum. In my connection with childhood and the aforementioned Disney tale of the little mermaid, in the real Hans Christian Anderson fairytale, Ariel must sacrifice herself after being led to false hope through her own passion to discover herself and the possibilities away from the mystery of the sea and to the logical, literal world of the land. She swims, then walks from mythos to logos, the mermaid is a creature stuck between the two worlds and she gives up her magic for love, or logic. She becomes a martyr, not by her own desire, but rather because she does the common good of not killing the prince, even though that would end in her human death, learning that loving everyone is most important for society- not the discovery of her walking abilities and love for the prince. I feel connected to this, and I have read time and time again that the only real answer in this disillusionment of the world is to love, to be open to possibilities and foster connections and cultivation. Yet, once again, though I strive for love and compassion and understanding, my philosophical selfhood and my studies are so entwined with my own self and my own expression I find it difficult to love and connect. Thus, I have tried finding connection and love in New York City, yet I am always met with some sort of depressing conclusion. I told my friend the other day, on our walk to the M subway station, that I thought when the world ended it would be the atomic bomb.

One night after spalshing around at the river with his brother and his bride. vincent cooked and played cards aka boccee ball and he ended up dreaming this also that night.  Except all of the cards were covered in scary vampire bats and mermaid sirens with scary teeth and Vincent would look into the kitchen window or look over the fenced yard and see Vicky flying or standing and staring at him.  Dogs barking sounded like her screams and his brother and his bride started laughing at him and then the patio chair started to fall into the ground where then he fell into darkness with a bundle of tiny Victorias flying around him blowing ice breathe at him as he screamed and felt like he was falling. Until he splashed into a big dark room with a pool.  It looked familiar and he started swimming and saw a smoking hot Mermaidian named Victoria jump out of the water and then sit on a lil ledge that the more he looked at it he noticed some light colored specks around her booty and a partial weird glow behind her... She said “I am here if you need me” and then an alarm sounded and he saw some red lights flash and then felt the water suck him down as he vigourously started swimming to his beauty.  Just as he was reaching her she smiled and waved with the words “IT WILL END IN TEARS” glowing in red neon lights behind her... then he fell into darkness and landed bam. on a bunch of sand in the middle of the desert

The platforms of her leather boots are resonating throughout these massive, hollow hallways that seem opulent with a variety of ornaments and gold details that are placed sublimely on every wall, which she feels compelled to admire, impeding her from the current plight in which she had successfully rendered the two vampire princes incapacitated.
The tips of her fingers feel warm as they dimly ignite with the colour magenta, tinkering with the power coursing through her veins, which is derived from her magical bracelet. She has no idea how or why it happened, but the instant she felt the familiar surge of power traverse her body earlier, she didn't waste any time and acted swiftly.
Gripping the clutch of her dagger, Elora's steps hasten before eventually making a run despite having no knowledge of any way out of here. The palace looks smaller on the outside. She can only afford to rely on her intuition as she continues to run, noticing that the lights are getting dimmer and dimmer.
Following her intuitions, Elora makes a sharp right turn into a corner where there is nothing but an open-spaced balcony with the eerie howling of the winter breeze. Darkness shrouds her surroundings where she is standing, with the only source of light deriving from the moonlight above in the skies as it streams down on the balcony.
Her finger tips are tingling with her magic once more, nudging her that this is it. With her newfound vigour in both physical strength and magic, she knows that this is the perfect opportunity to flee their clutches. She takes one step, then another, until she stands near the balustrade.
Elora takes a glance down, and her heart nearly drops at how significant the height from the balcony to the snow-clad ground is. Nevertheless, she has her magic which she can use it to teleport herself anywhere she wants.
Elora flutters her eyelids close and focuses on the specific core that is intangible and can only be found with full concentration. Out of all the various types of magic, teleportation magic is not her strongest suit. Even her first arrival near the border of Mysthaven took her two days to regain consciousness before she ventured her way around the kingdom.
Elora found it, and as she gently grasp the core, her concentration shatters the moment a deep, husky voice speaks to her in a resounding tone, prompting her to snap her eyes open in anger and apprehension.
"Trying to escape, mermaidian?"
Elora whirls around, her lilac hair flows behind her due to the breeze. Her face contorts into pure confusion, seeing nothing but darkness. But soon, a black mist of smoke gradually emanates from the peculiar darkness, and she can finally discern that it is not just a mere darkness.
Glowing, crimson eyes appear amidst the darkness, startling her before she finds herself taking a step back instinctively. The black mist of smoke doesn't seem to relent, as though they are creeping towards her in a threatening stance.
As Elora lifts her head up, the vampire prince finally reveals himself to her as he slowly moves out of the darkness. The discernible shadow behind him clings to him, growing with each passing second. The mist seems to stem from his figure alone, rendering her shocked at witnessing such peculiar magic he wields.
As the moonlight kisses his fairly pale complexion, Elora falters from her fierce stance, in awe of the beauty of the seventh prince. Divinely striking features with a few beauty marks here and there, and his plump pink lips look kissable. She takes notice of his incredible height—taller than she expected—and she has had to tilt her head up just a little to level the eye contact with him.
Elora snaps out of the trance as soon as her lower back hits the balustrade. He stops just a few feet away from her, but enough to intimidate her just slightly, especially when the shadow behind him is enlarged, resembling a mysterious shadow monster.
Without thinking twice, Elora swiftly climbs and is now standing on the balustrade, still facing him with fierce resolution in her eyes. "I'm leaving, and unless you want to end up like your two brothers, then I suggest you stay where you are."
"I wouldn't do that if I were you." The resonance with a tinge of huskiness in his voice sends a peculiar vibration through her, clearly, the seventh prince wields the same potency as the other princes, despite being the youngest.
Though the expression on his face doesn't give off anger, he doesn't look too friendly either, as his crimson eyes are never leaving her face. "It would be wise for you to cease your foolish schemes and surrender to us," He commands. "And get down or else you'll fall."
"Better I fall than surrender myself to you." Trusting her instinct and her magic, Elora allows herself to lean her weight back before she no longer finds herself standing on the balustrade.
The magenta mist surrounds her like a whirlpool, reducing gravity, but soon she sees the seventh prince dive into her. Alas, her magic malfunctions and dissipates into thin air before she finds herself falling at a rapid speed. Panic momentarily resides in her gaze as it expands in her chest, but the moment her eyes meet his, she is bewildered to see the determination and urgency, as though he wishes to save her.
Before she knows it, she is being engulfed by a strong pair of arms as well as the shadow that clings to them. With the power he wields, the shadow does its job while he holds her close to his chest. Amidst the inclement weather, she is basked by such warmth, encasing her whole being. She ignores the way her heart lightly flutters as he holds the back of her head and tucks her into the nook of his neck while his arms wrap around her body for security. Eventually, she accepts defeat, closing her eyes and burying her face into his chest as the speed doesn't seem to decelerate.
Elora awaits the painful impact, but nothing happens in the way she expected. Instead, her feet slowly touch the snow-clad ground while still in his oddly warm embrace. Neither of them moves, standing there while she still has her eyes closed.
Elora hears a 'whoosh' around her and a faint growl before she flutters her eyes open to see a tall, dark shadow-like monstrous creature looming over their figure. She has no idea why she feels fearful of the creature when she has faced even petrifying creatures in the past, but instinctively, she cowers herself away and hides into his chest once more.
"It's not going to hurt you." The seventh prince speaks above her with his chest rumbling due to how deep his voice is. "It's not allowing me to hurt you either."
The realisation finally hits her that she is hugging the prince tight before she abruptly retracts her arms as though he were lethal and shoves him away from her. Her eyes frantically search for her dagger, which is a few feet away from her. Just as she attempts to retrieve it, the prince uses his ability to destroy the crystal dagger into pieces with black smoke emanating from his fingertips, rendering it useless for her.
Panting harshly, her glaring eyes are fixed on the prince's divine face, who, in return, raises his eyebrow at her. "It appears your capacity to use magic is teetering." He states calmly. "Come. Let's get you inside."
"No." Elora stands firm to her ground despite feeling uncomfortable by the monstrous-shaped shadow looming from behind the prince as it stares at her. "I'm not surrendering myself, and I'm definitely not going to allow all of you to use me to get to my homeland."
In a blink of an eye, the prince has her shoved and pinned against the tall tree, while Elora gasps loudly at the painful impact. "My patience is running thin, and I suggest you listen well to me." He speaks in a venomous tone as he squeezes his hand around her neck in a threatening manner. "Or so help me, I'll─"
The prince doesn't have time to react, because the next thing he knows, his own shadow companion has pulled him away from her roughly while low, angry growls emit from it.
Elora's hand flies to her sore neck as she gasps, steadying her breathing pace before she glances up at the monstrous-shadow smoke looming over her figure. She pushes herself back against the tree and closes her eyes, expecting it to attack her, but instead, low, soft purrs emit from it. Just as she is about to flutter her eyes open, she feels something warm caressing her cold cheek, and she knows that it is coming from the monstrous shadow smoke.
The prince, on the other hand, is lying a few feet away from them since he had been thrown away from her. He watches them, incredulous by the fact that this is the first time seeing his own companion, which he created from his dark magic alone, defending the mere mermaidian from him despite it being an untameable.
The prince scoffs out in disbelief. "Bloody hell."
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──
"So you're telling us that your own companion, who is capable of shrouding a whole land in total darkness and is untameable at that, protected her from you?" Sunoo reiterates the revelation, his voice echoing throughout the main chamber.
Heeseung's stern gaze remains on their youngest, who is pacing back and forth and appears to be distraught while the lines crease on his face. "Riki." The tone of the eldest brother prompts the youngest to finally snap out of it.
Riki heaves a sigh with his fingers running through his hair in a frustrated manner. "Don't ask me how and why it protected her from me because I don't have the answer. Just know that it doesn't perceive her as a threat."
After Riki escorted a reluctant Elora back to her quarter, which the princes had agreed would be a temporary quarter until further notice, he immediately summoned his brothers for a meeting in the main chamber. Sunghoon couldn't make it as he had to attend to Jake and Jay, who apparently were healing rather slowly. So that left Sunoo, Jungwon, and Heeseung.
"But she is a threat." Sunoo counters firmly. "Maybe your companion is finally losing it or broken."
Riki ignores Sunoo's remark as something bothers him. "This is so weird. Not only did it protect her, but it feels familiar to her. It's as if it has known her since forever."
"Whatever it is, then maybe she is not a full threat." Heeseung concludes after staying silent and pondering what the youngest had told them. "Regardless, she is our enemy, so our goal still remains."
"Why is she our enemy, exactly?" Sunoo asks, his eyebrow arched. "I mean, I get that she tried to kill Jay and Jake, but it doesn't explain what or why she's our enemy. She didn't even give us an exact answer except the fact that if we do kill her, there will be calamity upon our kingdom."
"Or maybe the mermaidians have finally decided that it is time for retribution." Riki ponders his thoughts out loud. "Perhaps the old tale about our ancestors capturing merfolk and making them their slaves and their food source turned out to be true after all."
"We can't make any assumptions, Riki." Heeseung heaves a sigh, his fingers skimming through his locks. "If we want a clear answer, we must get the answer from the mermaidian herself."
Riki snorts out a sardonic chuckle. "Good luck with that. She wouldn't even utter a word when I escorted her to her quarters."
"She deserves to be thrown into the dungeon instead of having a temporary quarter." Sunoo rolls his eyes; his distaste for the aforementioned is palpable. "Jungwon, what do you think?"
The three of them instantly turn their heads to stare at their second-youngest, who had been silent since the moment he entered the main chamber. As always, his eyes bear indecipherable emotions while his face remains impassive.
Jungwon simply raises his eyebrow, remaining unmoving from his sitting position. "What do you mean by what I think?"
"We need to hear your opinion on the mermaidian. Do you agree that she should be thrown in the dungeon instead of being comfortable in the temporary quarter after all the troubles she has caused?" Sunoo's tone sounds rather impatient, but Jungwon remains indifferent.
There is a brief silence as they await Jungwon's response, but the vampire decides to change the topic. "Let's embark on our journey to Mermaidia in three days. I'll bring Riki and Sunghoon with me to apprise the imperial court regarding our expedition while the rest of you supervise Elora." Jungwon's voice is firm and assertive, leaving no room for objection.

Instead of staying in her room, Elora decides to explore the palace. For someone who is being held captive as their detainee, she has been granted the liberty to wander around─according to Riki, who had returned to check on her earlier─as long as she doesn't escape again. Even if she does try to escape, she is unable to since there is an invisible yet impenetrable barrier outside of the palace that prevents her from doing so.
Although this is a form of semblance of freedom, it is enough for her. Elora removes her hand from the invisible barrier from the window while heaving a sigh before she continues to wander down the hallway.
It is peculiar to Elora because, despite how massive the palace is, there are no signs of servants or anyone, really, other than the princes. The princes, on the other hand, have dispersed elsewhere, but Elora can sense some of their presence in the palace. Her thirst to achieve her goal and eliminate the princes is still palpable, but with her magic flailing from time-to-time, she doesn't feel confident that she will be successful in her mission.
Moreover, Elora can't afford to disappoint the imperial court, specifically the high court of Mermaidia. She shudders as she recalls the ultimatum given by the high court of Mermaidia. If she fails her mission, there will be consequences.
Just then, her stomach grumbles, alerting her that she hasn't consumed anything since she had been detained. Her hand slithers over her stomach, holding it in an attempt to cease its grumbling while she continues to walk, hoping to find her way around to the kitchen.
After a few minutes or so, Elora now finds herself pushing open the fairly massive door and peeking her head inside, presuming that this is the dining hall, as there is a large yet extensive dining table that is marbled-built with the surface burnished. Her eyes glister with hunger upon seeing a variety of pome fruits on a fairly large silver platter.
Elora looks behind her over her shoulder to check if there are any princes creeping up on her. When the coast is clear, she invites herself to enter the dining hall before carefully closing the door. She makes a bee line for the silver platter and keenly grabs a lustrous red, juicy apple. She settles herself on one of the seats before proceeding to take a huge bite of the apple.
Perhaps it could be because she hadn't eaten anything for the past two or three days, but the apple tastes absolutely delectable, nearly eliciting a moan from her before she takes another bite. Though it isn't a full meal, the apple is enough to satisfy her hunger. In just a few more bites, she has finished the apple.
Just as she is about to reach for a green pear, she senses an uninvited presence in the dining hall, prompting her to lift her gaze to scrutinise her surroundings, but she sees nothing.
"Looking for me, mermaidian?"
Elora looks ahead of her at where there is a window sill, where his voice is coming from. Alas, the prince reveals himself to her by using his magic. Despite the smile on his lips, his cold, sharp gaze penetrates into hers while he remains seated by the window sill. He had been there all the time, hiding in plain sight by using his magic to make himself invisible.
"I see you've helped yourself by eating the fruits I've prepared for you." The tone of his voice doesn't match with the menacing aura he exudes. "Oh, don't look guilty about it. As I said, they're for you."
A muscle pulses in her jaw. "I'm not guilty." To prove it to him, she grabs the green pear and takes an aggressive bite while maintaining eye contact with him. "If you want my gratitude, forget it. Providing me fruits is the bare minimum you ever did since you and your brothers decided to keep me captive here."
"You are most welcome." Sarcasm drips into his tone before silence befalls them. Elora grasps the chance to examine his appearance. Despite his arrogant and malevolent disposition, she can't deny that he, too, has a divine yet distinctive beauty with his fox-like eyes, sharp angular nose, and plump pink lips. But her eyes go wide momentarily upon seeing his ears with gentle slopes pointing upward sharply.
Elora has seen those ears before, but how is it possible that the third-youngest vampire prince has such ears, in which only a certain race is born with unique ear shapes?
"Your ears." She accidentally ponders her thoughts out loud, still staring at his ears, before she finally diverts her gaze into his. Her face contorts into confusion. "But I thought you're a vampire?"
An inexplicable emotion flickers in his gaze while his face remains apathetic. "I am."
"Then why do you have ears like the Fae folks?" Elora presses further, which annoys the prince visibly.
"Not only are you demanding, but you're annoyingly nosy as well." Sunoo mutters under his breath as he rolls his eyes.
"Since I'm stuck in this place, you might as well indulge me with my questions." Elora bats her eyelashes at him in an innocent manner, noticing how his crimson eyes darken. "Pray tell, are you a Fae or a vampire?"
"What if I tell you that I'm both?" Sunoo crosses his arms over his chest, the muscles beneath the thin material of his blouse flexing as she looks at the movement briefly before focusing on the shocking revelation at hand.
Elora scoffs out in disbelief as she leans her back against the chair. "You're kidding."
"Do I look like I'm smiling or laughing?"
"There is no way you're a hybrid." She shakes her head, lacking the ability to grasp the revelation. "It's impossible. Hybrids don't exist."
"And yet, I'm the living proof." Sunoo rises from his seat and slides his hands into his pockets as he stalks towards her with a calculating gaze. "I thought you knew what we were."
"We?" She frowns.
"We, as in, my brothers and I." Sunoo reiterates, his face remains eerily calm and collected.
Elora blinks her eyes. "So are they Faes like you as well?"
"No, but if you want to know, you can ask them yourself." Sunoo shrugs his shoulders, and due to the sudden close proximity between them as he stands close to where she is sitting, her breath hitches in her throat. "Anything else?"
Elora desires to know about them, as it appears that she hasn't done her research on the princes thoroughly. She hates to admit it, but she finds it interesting how Sunoo is not only a vampire but a Fae as well. It makes her ponder what type of hybrid the rest of his brothers are.
"You seem to have a lot on your mind, don't you?" Sunoo's sly tone pulls her away from her thoughts as she looks up at him. "Come on. I'll happily indulge you with your questions."
"How is it possible that you're─" She pauses, finding her breaths going uneven with the intoxicating scent emanating from him as he is now standing closely next to her, looming over her figure. It must be that he is using his magic.
"That I'm a Fae as well?" Sunoo's chuckles sound lethally soft, sending shivers down her spine. "Truthfully, we have no idea how or why it happened, but we were born this way─ a bunch of hybrids with an uncontrollable thirst for blood and power."
Elora flinches just as his fingers caress her cheek, but as she attempts to back away from him, he roughly grabs her by the jaw, forcing her eyes to meet his crimson, hypnotising ones. She feels something breaching into the walls that she built to protect her vulnerable mind, and she knows that he is using his magical abilities on her.
"Do you know that Faes are just as seductive as the vampire species?" He asks rhetorically while his smirk deepens as he leans into her face. "Don't bother fighting me, darling. Surrender yourself to me."
Alas, the walls she built to protect herself crumbled, allowing his magic to touch her vulnerability. It feels as though every corner of her mind is intoxicated, with no ability to think rationally. She flutters her eyes, blinking them slowly, before looking into his hypnotic eyes as they lure her in.
"Stand up." Sunoo commands softly, and her body heeds his command while her mind is occupied by him and him only.
"Sunoo." She mumbles his name, as she is in a complete trance. All she knows is that her mind and body yearn for him, needing him. "Sunoo." His name is uttered in an oddly seductive lull, sending a jolt of pleasure through him.
In a blink of an eye, Sunoo has her in his possession, hoisting her with his hands on her waist and placing her on top of the table. He settles in between her parted legs with his fingers gripping her chin to tilt her head up. His lips curl into a smirk upon seeing the trance he imposed on her.
"Will you allow me to have a bite of you?" He asks, and naturally, she nods her head. He pulls the tunic blouse off her clothed shoulder just enough to expose her collarbone. Holding her firmly by the nape, his fangs elongate while the thirst for blood intensifies within him before finally sinking his razor-sharp fangs into her jugular.
As he greedily drinks her blood, her neck is experiencing excruciating pain, but her body remains motionless in his possession. But something happens. The intoxication that clouds her mind is slowly dissipating, her eyelids fluttering every now and then as they blink. It is as if his strong magic that she thought she would not be able to break free from is finally withering.
Something hits her hard, eliciting a gasp from her before she blinks her eyes once more. She has finally broken free from the trance. The pain in her neck catches her attention, as does the way he is moaning lowly as he drinks more of her blood.
Elora grits her teeth as she withstands the excruciating pain while her hand attempts to reach out a bread knife behind her on the table. She clutches the handle and brings it closer to her. She raises the knife in her grasp, aiming at where his neck is. Just as she brings it down, an impenetrable force prevents her from doing so as her hand freezes mid-air.
She feels him receding from her neck, wincing at how his fangs are abruptly pulled away from her neck, which is now bleeding with its blood trickling down her skin. His soft, lethal chuckles send shivers down her spine.
"You're so predictable." Sunoo chuckles while she is now able to get a good look of his face. His lips are smeared with her blood as he grins deviously, while his crimson eyes get darker and darker with each passing second. In fact, he looks twice as wicked than he usually does. It's like he's a different person.
With her hand still raised mid-air, he grabs the knife from her grasp with ease. He hums, inspecting the knife in his hand, while her heart pounds harder against her chest, uncertain of his next move.
"I see that you were about to stab me with this pathetic bread knife." His voice sounds darker, meaner, and so sinister, as does the discernible aura he exudes. "But don't you know that a hybrid heals faster than an average vampire?" He sneers, now glaring into her eyes. "I wonder, does a mere mermaidian like you heal as fast as we do?"
In a blink of an eye, he impales the knife into her hand on the table, eliciting a painful scream from her. Her hand trembles, unable to move, as the knife remains impaled into her hand with blood oozing while her whole body is paralysed. Tears prick in her eyes as she sees nothing but pure enjoyment and evil in his eyes.
"Scream for me once more, and I'll remove the knife." Sunoo commands sinisterly, but the female remains silent. "I said fucking scream."
Peculiarly, Elora feels a rush of adrenaline, as does regaining strength, before she uses her strength to push him away from her. Swiftly, she grabs the knife handle and removes it from her hand, moaning painfully as she does so, but she wastes no time in getting off the table and making an escape towards the door.
But a magnetic force sends her body flinging away and hitting against the wall with a loud thud before she falls to the ground. She winces, feeling her head throbbing and her body hurting from the impact. Frantically, she grabs the bread knife beside her just as Sunoo charges towards her.
Using whatever strength she has left, she uses it to defend herself against Sunoo. Eventually, Sunoo has her pinned to the floor, but Elora wastes no time in plunging the knife into his shoulder. Sunoo, however, simply smirks, as though the knife has no effect on him despite the blood oozing from his shoulder.
"I told you, darling," Sunoo says calmly, with one hand pinning both her wrists on top of her head while the other slowly removes the knife as it is stained with his blood. "that a mere bread knife can't do much to hurt a hybrid like me."
A searing pain spikes through her body as he has impaled the knife into her stomach, her mouth going slacken while her face contorts into pain, but she doesn't scream. Instead, she still feels determined to make it out alive. So, she uses her knee to knock him hard in the private part, eliciting a painful groan from him as he is forced to roll over to the floor.
Elora grasps the opportunity to make a run for the door. Even as she has left the dining hall, she continues to run and run, despite the amount of blood she is losing from her wounded, bloodied hand and stomach.
"Elora!" She hears Sunoo growling out for her name, sending her goosebumps with the pure wrath he exudes. Just as she turns around the corner, she is being flung away by Sunoo's magic once more, but this time, the commotion seems to have reached the ears of others.
"What is going on─" Riki ceases his question while Heeseung, Jungwon, and Sunghoon arrive at the scene at the same time. They are genuinely appalled by the sight of Sunoo hovering on top of an injured, pale-looking Elora with his hands around her neck and long nails digging into her skin.
"Sunoo!" Riki is the first one to use his vamp speed to get to them and his strength to get Sunoo away from Elora, but Riki knows that he needs his other brothers to help him.
Sunghoon decides to step in, assisting Riki. "Bloody hell, Sunoo! Snap out of it!" Sunghoon barks, clenching his jaw. It isn't that he's worried about Elora, but rather that he's worried about Sunoo, as he knows that Sunoo is not himself.
Finally, Sunghoon and Riki manage to get Sunoo away from Elora while the female gasps for air as she frantically backs away from the maniac prince. As she stands with trembling legs, she is in pure shock to see Sunoo still in his rage, his pointed ears are still prominent, while his crimson eyes are close to being obsidian.
Alas, the fighting and the amount of blood loss are affecting her quicker than she likes, causing her body to sway as she is about to lose consciousness. A pair of strong arms hold her from behind as she leans her back against his solid chest. A pained moan and whimper leave her lips while her heavy eyelids threaten to close.
"Fucking snap out of it!" Sunghoon grits his teeth as he holds Sunoo's shoulders with Riki's support. "You have to control it!"
"She's losing a lot of blood, fast." Jungwon comments to Heeseung, who is holding her against him. "And she's not healing either. She needs our blood." Jungwon then turns to look at the rest of his brothers. "Get Sunoo to drink that special potion."
On the other hand, Heeseung carries the half-conscious female in a bridal style before using his vamp speed to get to her room.
Elora breaks into a cold sweat while heavy pants leave her lips by the time Heeseung reaches her room and has her cradled in his arms. "It hurts." She whimpers, her wounded hand held close to her chest, allowing herself to be completely vulnerable in front of her enemy.
"Why are you not healing?" Regardless of his question, Heeseung tugs down the sleeve of his blouse before biting down his wrist with his fangs. "Here, drink." Heeseung quickly places his bleeding wrist onto her parted lips, forcing her to drink his blood even though she refuses.
The metallic taste of his blood trickling down her throat tastes awful at first, but soon she finds herself drinking down his blood with pleasure as she closes her eyes.
"That's it." Heeseung whispers, watching as she holds his wrist while drinking greedily. She's his enemy, and yet the sight of her drinking his blood is erotic. "Good girl."
He can hear a faint moan from her and allow her to drink some more before she pulls away with a gasp. Her lips are smeared with his blood, compelling him to wipe away the excess of his blood from her lips with his thumb.
"Heeseung." She utters his name languidly as she slowly falls weak in his arms, which are holding her securely.
"Yeah?" The instant he responds, he is taken aback to see a teardrop sliding down her cheek as she stares at him with an indecipherable sentiment.
"H-Heli." Her voice is barely above a whisper, yet he catches on to the way she utters the peculiar name with such longing and sadness. The next thing he knows, her eyelids flutter close while her body goes limp in his arms.
