Finished Miles Morales again while of course cried and losing my mind were Phin and Miles foreshadowing Peter and Harry. Is it so. Are our best friends our greatest enemies but we still love them anyway. Will Peter forgive Harry for all the destruction but still have to lose him. MJ will also be there.

finished the story! if i didnt get stuck fighting the final boss for an hour and get frustrated i woulda had so much fun. still a very good game tho! i gotta do the post game scavenger hunt, 100% the save, then do new game plus+ and then ill have 100%'d both spidermans just in time for spiderman 2 :o)

Thinking about Peter's absolute cry of anguish after the final boss battle when he finds Harry unresponsive. Thinking about how all he can say is I'm sorry. Thinking about the fact that in Peter's head it was him at May's side sobbing I'm sorry. Thinking about how "with great power comes great responsibility" can never be separated from the guilt Peter feels. Thinking about how that guilt extends to May. How it extends to Ben. How it cripples Peter so much that he tells Miles that he can't do this again. Thinking about Peter's voice as he'd begged Harry to fight - pleaded with him to not make him do this. Thinking about how when consumed with the symbiote Peter had screeched out I'm the hero, I don't get saved! Thinking about how that's not just pride, how that's not just responsibility, how it's guilt. How it's always been Peter and the weight of the world, the life of his loved ones, and their blood on his hands. And now it's Harry's and Peter just breaks. Always the hero, he's done the right thing, but this time it's the last straw. His best friend. The last sacrifice Peter Parker can take...

...and it's then... that Miles saves him.

I just love Martin Li in this sequel so much. The long hair? Gorgeouss. The facial hair? Incredible. The actual guilt and remorse of his actions? God damn.

And then he goes and finds out that he killed Miles' father. Martin Li's whole motivation was to kill the man who murdered his parents and then he went and murdered MIles' dad.

And just that realization? When it hits him that Miles experienced something so similar and became a hero.

Martin Li coming in clutch when he did is just so great. The character development of all the reformed villains is just such a lovely and incredible thing.

But damn, Martin Li really stole a big part of the show -- as he should. What a great character arc.

Gonna start Spider-Man 2 soon, now that I finished the first game, but I have feelings.

The Miles and Peter dynamic hurts my soul in such a good way. I mean, imagine you are Miles. The past month has been overwhelming; the death of your father, a city-wide epidemic, nearly dying more than once, meeting Spider-Man, watching one of the kindest women you’ve ever met die just before they start producing a cure… that’s a lot for a teenager to go through. And then, just as things start going back to some semblance of normal, you start sticking to walls.

You’re a huge Spider-Man fan. You know what his powers look like. This is incredible, but also terrifying. You don’t know what’s going on. You don’t know the full extent of what Spider-Man can do. You don’t even understand how you got these powers! Maybe you remember that spider at FEAST, but it was such a brief moment and so much was going on, maybe you don’t. What if people see your powers and think you’re Spider-Man? What are you supposed to do? Who can you talk to? You decide, after months of thinking and stressing and trying to come to grips with your newfound strength and skill, that you should tell the one guy who bothered to reach out after your dad died, the guy who helped you find purpose and meaning again.

Can you imagine the joy Miles must have felt when Peter jumped onto the ceiling with him? How happy must he have been to know that the guy he decided to trust was the best person he possibly could have told? How lucky he must have felt to befriend Spider-Man both with and without the mask?

And then Peter. Oh Peter. He lost two of his greatest mentors on the same night, two people who helped shape his desire to change the world and help others. There was so much he could have done differently, maybe he could have saved them. As the months passed, he regained his confidence, but those wounds are still hot.

And then Miles jumps on the ceiling, and you see something in Peter’s face. It’s the same face he makes when he invents something, a look of excitement and victory and hope. He can help Miles. He can be there for him like Otto and May once were, but with no secrets, no lying or hiding bruises and injuries. Peter gets to be the mentor, and you can tell he is so, so happy.

The Peter & Otto/Miles & Peter analogy is getting to me, and knowing Venom gets involved in the second game… oh my GOD this dynamic is beautiful.
