As Charlie led you down the dimly lit corridor of the hotel, your nerves began to flutter in your chest like a trapped bird. While her offer of hospitality was undeniably kind, the prospect of leaving behind the familiarity of your own apartment in Hell filled you with a sense of unease you couldn't quite shake. After all, your apartment had been your sanctuary for longer than you cared to admit, a haven amidst the chaos of your day-to-day.
When you finally reached the door of the room designated for your stay, Charlie's infectious enthusiasm was impossible to ignore. Her bright smile was enough to momentarily ease your anxiety as she gestured for you to enter. "Here we are! I hope it's to your liking!"
Stepping over the threshold, however, disappointment washed over you like a wave crashing against the shore. The room was devoid of character, lacking the warmth and charm of your own living space. Despite Charlie's efforts to make it inviting, it fell short of your expectations.
"I appreciate your thoughtfulness, Charlie," You began, your voice hesitant as you struggled to find the right words. "But I think I'd feel more comfortable in my own apartment. It's just... I'm accustomed to it, you know?"
Before Charlie could respond, Alastor, ever the showman, interjected with his trademark flair, a mischievous gleam in his eyes. "Nonsense! Allow me to remedy this situation." With a snap of his fingers, the room was transformed before your eyes, your own furniture materializing right in front of you. Your bed, dresser, bookcase—every piece of your beloved belongings stood before you, a perfect replica of your own apartment.
You could feel the heat rising to your cheeks as you surveyed the scene, overwhelmed by Alastor's unexpected gesture. "Alastor, you really didn't have to go to all this trouble," You managed to stammer, your gratitude mingled with a hint of embarrassment at the intrusion into your personal life.
But deep down, despite your protests, you couldn't deny the warmth that bloomed in your chest at the sight of your familiar surroundings. It was a small gesture, but it spoke volumes about Alastor's willingness to make you feel at home in this unfamiliar environment. And for that, you couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude, even if it came with a tinge of embarrassment.
In true Alastor fashion, he waved off your protests with a casual flick of his hand and a wide grin. "Truly – No trouble at all, my dear!" he declared, his voice filled with cheerful reassurance.
Charlie looked torn, caught between wanting to respect your wishes and knowing that ultimately, you didn't have much say in the matter. After all, Alastor owned your soul, and you was bound to serve him regardless of your personal preferences. It was a reality you had grown accustomed to over the centuries, a reminder of the bargain you had struck with him long ago.
You sighed inwardly, realizing that there was little point in arguing. Alastor had signed you up for this, and as much as you resented the loss of autonomy, there was little you could do to change it now. Besides, in the grand scheme of things, having your own furniture in the hotel room was a small comfort, a reminder of the life you had built for yourself in Hell.
With a resigned nod, you turned to Charlie, mustering a small smile. "Thank you, Charlie. I appreciate your kindness," You said softly, accepting the situation for what it was. After all, in a place like Hell, it was the small acts of kindness that kept you going.
As Alastor exited the room with his characteristic flair, Charlie's warm demeanor enveloped you like a protective embrace. Her eyes sparkled with genuine interest and a hint of curiosity as she turned to you. "Let's get you settled in, shall we?" she suggested, her tone inviting and reassuring, offering a glimmer of comfort in the unfamiliar setting you have been put into.
Charlie’s smile was infectious, and you found yourself mirroring it, appreciative of her warmth amidst the uncertainty that surrounded you. With Charlie's help, you both delved into the task of unpacking your belongings, turning the hotel room into a semblance of familiarity. Side by side, you found that Charlie's warm presence offered a sense of comfort, her genuine curiosity evident in the way she eagerly engaged you in conversation. With each exchanged word, she sought to unravel the enigma of your connection to Alastor, her inquiries veiled in a delicate balance of curiosity and respect.
"So, how long have you been working for Alastor?" she asked, her voice filled with curiosity and sincerity.
You paused, considering how much to reveal. Charlie was kind-hearted and well-meaning, but you weren't sure how much she knew about Alastor's true nature. "Centuries," You replied cryptically, deciding to keep the details vague for now.
Charlie nodded understandingly, though you could tell she was curious for more information. "He's quite the character, isn't he?" she remarked with a chuckle, her eyes glancing towards the door through which Alastor had exited.
You couldn't help but laugh at her understatement. "That's one way to put it," You agreed, remembering the countless times Alastor had surprised you with his antics and enigmatic nature. "Alastor has a way of keeping things interesting, that's for sure."
Charlie's eyes sparkled with curiosity as she leaned in slightly, as if eager to hear more about your experiences with the Radio Demon. "Oh, do tell," she encouraged, her voice filled with genuine interest.
You hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal about your complicated history with Alastor. "Well, let's just say he has a knack for surprises," You replied cryptically, deciding to keep the details vague for now.
Charlie nodded, though you could tell she was eager for more information. "I can only imagine," she remarked with a bit of a disappointed smile.
As you continued unpacking, you couldn't shake the feeling that Charlie was probing for more information about your relationship with Alastor. While you appreciated her curiosity, some secrets were best left buried, especially in Hell. Nonetheless, you were grateful for her friendly demeanor and genuine interest in getting to know you better.
As you both finished unpacking, Charlie glanced around the room with a satisfied smile. "There, all done," she announced cheerfully. "I hope you find everything to your liking."
You nodded appreciatively, though a small part of you still felt hesitant despite Charlie's warmth. Trusting others had always been a challenge for you, but in this moment, her genuine kindness made it a bit easier to let your guard down.
"Thank you, Charlie," You said sincerely, offering her a grateful smile. "I really appreciate your help."
Charlie returned your smile, her eyes twinkling with kindness. "Of course, anytime," she replied warmly. "If you need anything else, don't hesitate to ask."
With that, Charlie bid you farewell, leaving you to settle into your new surroundings. As you unpacked the last few personal items, you couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude for Charlie's hospitality and the opportunity to start afresh again in Hell.
As you sat alone in the room, the events of the day replayed in your mind like scenes from a vivid dream. Alastor's sudden appearance and his effortless manipulation of your belongings had stirred up a storm of conflicting emotions within you. On one hand, you were grateful for his assistance, but on the other, You couldn't shake the feeling of being manipulated, of being at the mercy of forces beyond your control.
As you ponder these thoughts, a sense of vulnerability washes over you, leaving you feeling exposed and uncertain in this unfamiliar environment. The room, a sanctuary of familiarity a moment ago, now felt like a battleground of emotions, each conflicting feeling warring for dominance within you.
With a heavy sigh, you pushed aside the thoughts swirling in your mind, reminding yourself that in Hell, trust was a luxury few could afford. But deep down, a flicker of hope remained, a glimmer of possibility that perhaps, amidst the chaos and uncertainty, there was still room for genuine connection and kindness.
With another heavy sigh, you decided to retreat to the comforting embrace of the bed, its soft mattress offering a temporary reprieve from the whirlwind of emotions swirling within you. As you lay there, staring up at the ceiling, you couldn't help but feel the weight of the day's events pressing down on you like a suffocating blanket.
The room was silent, save for the distant echoes of laughter and conversation drifting in from the corridors of the hotel. The dim light filtering through the curtains cast dancing shadows across the room, your eyes following them as they grew heavier by the second. As you lay there, the softness of the mattress beneath you beckoning you into its embrace, you felt the weight of the day begin to lift.
Closing your eyes, you allowed yourself to sink into the warmth of the bed, the rhythmic rise and fall of your chest matching the steady rhythm of your breath. In the silence of the room, the echoes of the day's events slowly began to fade, replaced by the gentle hum of tranquillity that enveloped you like a cocoon.
With each passing moment, the lines between wakefulness and slumber blurred, the edges of consciousness softening as sleep beckoned you into its embrace. And as the darkness of sleep swept over you, carrying you away on its gentle currents, you surrendered to its embrace, grateful for the respite it offered from the turmoil of the day.
The following morning arrived with a soft, golden glow seeping through the curtains, gently nudging you awake from the depths of slumber. Blinking away the remnants of sleep, you found yourself disoriented, the unfamiliar surroundings of the hotel room a stark contrast to the comfort of your own apartment.
With a groan, you shifted in the bed, the soft sheets clinging to your body as if reluctant to release you from their grasp. Glancing down, you grimaced at the realization that you had fallen asleep in the same clothes you had worn the day before. It was a small inconvenience, but it added to the disorientation of waking up in a new place.
Reluctantly, you pushed yourself upright, the mattress protesting softly beneath your weight as you swung your legs over the side of the bed. Rubbing the sleep from your eyes, you rose to your feet and made your way across the room toward the door that Charlie had pointed out as the bathroom.
Stepping inside, you took a moment to survey your surroundings. The bathroom was spacious, far larger than the cramped quarters of your own apartment. The pristine white tiles gleamed in the soft light, casting a warm glow over the room. A sense of luxury emanated from every corner, from the sleek countertops to the gleaming fixtures.
You began to peel off the clothes you had slept in, their fabric clinging uncomfortably to your skin. With each garment removed, you felt a sense of liberation, as if shedding the weight of the previous day's turmoil along with your clothing.
With a sigh of relief, you stepped into the spacious shower, allowing the warm water to cascade over your weary body. It was a welcome respite from the chaos of the previous day, a moment of tranquillity amidst the storm of uncertainty that surrounded you.
As the steam enveloped you in its comforting embrace, you couldn't help but luxuriate in the sensation of the water washing away the tension that had settled in your muscles. With each drop that fell, you felt yourself relax a little more, the knots of anxiety slowly unraveling beneath the gentle caress of the shower.
Taking your time, you reached for the shampoo and lathered it into your hair, massaging your scalp with slow, deliberate motions. The scent of lavender filled the air, soothing your frayed nerves and calming your racing thoughts. It was a small indulgence, but in that moment, it felt like a luxury you had been denied for far too long.
Next, you turned your attention to your body, allowing the soap to glide across your skin in long, sweeping motions. The gentle hum of the water provided a soothing backdrop as you washed away the grime of the previous day, reveling in the simple pleasure of cleanliness.
With your body feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, you turned your attention to your wings, careful not to neglect them in your grooming routine. With practiced ease, you spread them wide, allowing the warm air of the shower to penetrate their delicate feathers. It was a sensation unlike any other, the soft flutter of the air against your wings sending a shiver of pleasure down your spine.
Stepping out of the shower, you reached for the plush towel hanging nearby, relishing the softness of the fabric against your skin. As you dried yourself off, you couldn't help but hum a small tune under your breath, the melody a testament to the newfound sense of peace that had settled within you.
Glancing around the bathroom, your eyes landed on the unfamiliar hair dryer sitting on the countertop. With a smile, you reached for it, grateful for the opportunity to dry off the last of the water from your hair and wings. It was a small gesture, but in that moment, it felt like a gesture of welcome from the hotel itself, a silent acknowledgment of your presence in this strange and unfamiliar place.
With your face freshly washed and teeth brushed, you emerged from the bathroom, feeling rejuvenated and ready to face the day ahead. The room, once a temporary refuge, now felt more like home, its familiar surroundings offering a sense of comfort amidst the chaos that is your life.
As you perused the selection of clothes you had brought with you, your gaze settled on a crisp white button-up shirt, a pair of tailored dress pants, and a sleek black vest. It was a classic ensemble, one that never failed to make you feel confident and put together.
You paused momentarily as you reached for the binder that lay atop the dresser, its presence a constant reminder of the wings hidden beneath your clothing. With a sigh, you fastened the binder around your chest, the pressure a necessary discomfort to keep your wings concealed from prying eyes.
Over the years, your wings had gradually diminished in size, their once majestic span now reduced to mere remnants of their former glory. Perhaps it was the weight of your sins or the relentless torment of Hell that had caused them to wither away, but regardless of the reason, they served as a constant reminder of the life you had left behind.
Once your wings were securely bound, you slipped into the shirt, relishing the sensation of the smooth fabric against your skin. The sleeves were a perfect fit, the cuffs falling just right over your wrists. Next came the dress pants and vest, the familiar routine bringing a sense of normalcy to the morning ritual. With each garment donned, you felt a little more like yourself, the layers of clothing offering you comfort.
Finally, you sat down on the edge of the bed, the leather of your dress shoes gleaming in the soft light of the room. With a practiced hand, you laced up the shoes, the familiar motions soothing in their repetition.
You stood before the mirror, your reflection staring back at you with a mix of familiarity and uncertainty. With a small sigh, You smoothed down the fabric of your vest, adjusting the collar of your shirt. You couldn't help but indulge in a moment of vanity, spinning around in a small twirl for your own amusement.
As you came to a stop, your gaze drifted down to the watch on your wrist, its hands ticking steadily towards the start of another day in Hell.
7:50 am.
Yesterday, this would have been the time you’ll be bustling around the kitchen of your apartment, preparing a cup of coffee and a quick breakfast to fuel you for the day ahead. But here, in the unfamiliar surroundings of the Hotel, you were faced with the daunting task of reintroducing yourself to the kitchen.
The memory of last night brought a small smile to your lips, the warmth of camaraderie and laughter still lingering in your mind. Despite your initial discomfort, you couldn't deny that there was something undeniably comforting about being surrounded by such lively company.
Stepping out of your room, you descended the stairs to the first level of the hotel, the echoes of your footsteps reverberating through the empty corridor. Despite the grandeur of the Hotel, navigating its labyrinthine halls proved to be a challenge, and you couldn't help but feel a twinge of frustration as you found yourself turned around once again.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity of wandering, you stumbled upon the entrance to the kitchen, a wave of relief washing over you as you stepped inside. You set about your morning routine, the familiar tasks of making coffee and preparing breakfast grounding you in the present moment. You rummaged through the pantry in search of a loaf of bread, your fingers trailing over the shelves until you finally found what you were looking for.
But the toaster proved to be more elusive, hiding away in some forgotten corner of the kitchen. With a sigh, you embarked on a mission to locate the elusive appliance, determined not to let it thwart your efforts to enjoy a proper breakfast.
After what felt like an eternity of searching, you finally unearthed the toaster from its hiding spot behind a stack of pots and pans. As you wait for the coffee to finish brewing and the toast to brown, you let out a sigh of contentment, the tension of the morning melting away with each passing moment. It was a rare luxury to have no idea what the day had in store for you, to be free from the constraints of routine and obligation.
With your plate and mug in hand, you made your way to the dining room table, sinking into the chair with a sense of satisfaction. As you savor each bite of toast and sip of coffee, you lose track of time scrolling on your phone.
The tranquillity of the morning was shattered by a sudden crash that jolted you out of your mindless scrolling. With a sigh, you set down your mug and followed the sound, your curiosity piqued by the source of the disturbance.< /p>
As you rounded the corner, you found yourself face to face with Husk, his head slumped on the bar counter as he snored softly. A small smile tugged at the corners of your lips at the sight of the sleeping demon, his usual gruff demeanor softened by the vulnerability of sleep. You couldn't help but marvel at the fact that the noise hadn't stirred him from his slumber.
But your amusement was short-lived as you noticed the broken glass scattered on the floor, evidence of the disturbance that had disrupted the quiet of the morning. With a sense of resignation, you retrieved a broom and dustpan from a nearby closet, intent on cleaning up the mess before it became a hazard.
Careful not to disturb Husk's slumber, you began to sweep up the shards of glass, the rhythmic swish of the broom against the floor a soothing counterpoint to the chaos of the moment. Halfway through the task, you were interrupted by the sound of Husk's grumbling voice, his eyes squinting as he blinked away the remnants of sleep.
"What the shit are you doin'?" he mumbled, his gaze shifting from you to the broom and dustpan in your hands, then to the broken glass on the floor.
Suppressing a laugh at his disheveled appearance, you offered him a sheepish smile. "Just cleaning up a little mess," You replied casually, gesturing to the broken bottle on the floor. "Didn't mean to wake you."
With a concerned furrow of your brow, you couldn't help but comment on Husk's less-than-ideal sleeping position. "Isn't it uncomfortable sleeping like that?" You questioned, your tone laced with genuine concern. "I have to admit, you look awful."
Husk's response was predictably nonchalant, a mere grunt escaping his lips as he half-heartedly acknowledged your remark. He leaned back from the bar to stretch, his movements sluggish and weighed down by the remnants of sleep. "Eh," was all he offered before rubbing the sleep from his eyes with a tired sigh. "At least you look like you slept well enough for the both of us."
"Well, that's what happens when you sleep in a bed," You retorted with a teasing smirk, emptying the glass into the bin behind the bar. "Obviously that habit isn't going anywhere soon?" You couldn't help but add, shooting him a judgmental glance as he reached for another bottle at the bar.
"Piece of advice, little lady," Husk began, his tone surprisingly serious as he pulled the bottle away from his lips. "The best way to beat a hangover is to keep drinking," he declared before taking another swig from the bottle, his eyes glinting mischievously.
The suggestion caused you to grimace involuntarily, shaking your head in disapproval. With a dismissive wave, you turned away from Husk and headed back to your coffee, only for it to be gone, much to your dismay.
You then notice Niffty running around, chasing what looks like a bug. “You shouldn’t leave such a mess behind, (Y/N)!” Amidst the chaos of Niffty's playful antics, her voice pierced through the lively atmosphere, chastising you for the mess you had left behind – your unfinished breakfast. Niffty's scolding only added to your frustration, her words a stark reminder of your oversight.
Taking a deep breath to quell the rising irritation, you pushed back the urge to snap in response. 'Stay calm,' you reminded yourself silently. 'It's not worth getting worked up over.'
With reluctant determination, you turned back toward the kitchen, hoping to rectify the situation with a fresh start. However, your hopes were swiftly dashed as you laid eyes on the coffee machine. The once-pristine appliance now bore the telltale signs of neglect, its surface marred by scattered coffee grounds and spilled espresso. The milk steamer, once gleaming, now appeared to be encrusted with dried milk, a testament to its recent use and subsequent neglect. And standing nearby, leaning casually against the counter, was Angel, his presence exuding an air of nonchalance.
"Morning, tots," he greeted you with a lackluster wave, his eyes lingering on you with a hint of judgment. The intensity of his scrutiny sent a ripple of self-consciousness through you, prompting an involuntary shift in your stance as you struggled to maintain your composure.
With a tense smile, you offered a tentative nod in response, your fingers twitching nervously at your sides. The weight of Angel's gaze felt heavy upon you, casting a shadow of doubt over your every move.
"Good morning, Angel," You replied, mustering a small wave of your own, attempting to mask the unease bubbling beneath the surface. 'Maybe he'll clean up after himself,' You thought optimistically, a faint glimmer of hope flickering in the back of your mind.
However, your hopes were swiftly dashed as Angel straightened up and sauntered out of the kitchen without a second glance. Disappointment washed over you, mingling with a growing sense of annoyance.
With a frustrated huff, you seized a cloth and set to work, methodically wiping down the counter and tackling the stubborn remnants of spilled coffee and dried milk. Each swipe of the cloth was fuelled by a mix of irritation and determination, a silent vow to restore order to the chaos that had unfolded in the kitchen.
As you meticulously cleaned every surface, a sense of satisfaction washed over you with each spotless section. Finally, with a small smile of accomplishment, you surveyed your handiwork, admiring the gleaming countertops and pristine coffee machine.
Clean. Orderly. Good.
As you reached for a new mug, the kitchen suddenly became a hive of activity as Charlie burst in, radiating her usual positivity, with Vaggie trailing behind, looking a bit groggy. Their contrasting energies collided in the space, momentarily overwhelming your senses.
"Morning, (Y/N)!" Charlie greeted you with her trademark bright smile, her movements fluid as she glided across the kitchen. Vaggie offered a nod in your direction, her expression reflecting her morning weariness.
Your spirits sank further as you watched Charlie effortlessly use the mugs labeled 'C' and 'V,' resigning yourself to the fact that your morning routine was once again being disrupted. With a sigh, you stood there with the mug in your hand, feeling a sense of defeat wash over you.
Vaggie, ever perceptive, caught onto your struggle, and without a word, she held out her hand for the mug. You hesitated for a moment before handing it over, managing a small smile at the gesture. Sometimes, it was the little victories that made all the difference.
Charlie's question about your sleep broke through your fog of exhaustion, her energy levels seemingly boundless even at this early hour. "How did you sleep?" she asked, her voice filled with a bit too much energy for your still-groggy morning state.
"Yeah, I slept well, thank you. What about the both of you?" You asked, trying to mask your slight discomfort with a polite tone. Conversing with others, especially so early in the morning, wasn't exactly your forte. After all, spending most of your time alone and communicating through a microphone had become your norm.
As the conversation unfolded, we found ourselves engaged in a pleasant exchange, standing around the kitchen with steaming mugs of coffee in hand. Each sip seemed to punctuate the pauses between our words, creating a rhythm of its own.
"So, any other jobs besides paperwork I should be thinking of?" You inquired, breaking the brief lull in conversation. You observed Charlie's lips parting to respond when suddenly, a static-like voice interrupted, slicing through the air with an unexpected intrusion.
"Well, well! What do we have here? Morning meetings?" Alastor's voice cut through the air with his usual flair as he entered the kitchen, his presence commanding attention. He looked just as polished as he did the day before, not a single hair out of place. You watched as Charlie began to respond, but you found yourself tuning out her words as your gaze lingered on Alastor. There was something about his demeanor that struck you as different today, something more serious and focused than usual. It left you wondering what had prompted this sudden change.
"Then I guess I better show her, hmm?" Alastor's voice snapped you back to the conversation, his piercing gaze meeting mine. You blinked, caught off guard by the sudden attention directed your way.
"Sorry, what now?" You asked, your tone slightly abrupt as you perked up at the mention of something concerning you.
"Showing you your office, my dear," Alastor clarified, bringing you up to speed with the conversation that had unfolded in your momentary distraction. 'Oh... OH! You get an office?! Neat!' You thought to yourself, a spark of excitement igniting within you at the prospect.
Placing your empty mug into the sink, you followed after the overlord, trailing behind him as your eyes scanned over his back. Despite the anticipation of seeing your new workspace, your thoughts couldn't help but wander back to Alastor's sudden change in demeanor. Where had he been all this time again? The question lingered in the back of your mind, a nagging curiosity that threatened to consume you if left unanswered.
Before you could muster the courage to speak, Alastor's attention was diverted elsewhere, and he began leading you through the hotel, guiding you to your small office space.
"This will be your domain, my dear," he explained, sweeping his hand around the room in a grand gesture. "I trust you to keep track of expenses and paperwork. It's not the most glamorous task, but it's essential for keeping the hotel running smoothly."
You nodded, a small smile tugging at your lips. The idea of having your own office space was rather exciting. Back in your apartment, you had only ever used the dining room table for tasks like these. As you tried to settle into the idea of this new role, you couldn't shake the feeling of warmth and acceptance that surrounded you in the Hazbin Hotel. So far, you have been offered a room rent-free and now an office space to work in. Sure, there were a few minor hiccups, but overall, this was a nice change.
As you walked past Alastor and into the office to inspect the desk and chair, your eyes caught sight of a medium-sized box placed on your desk, adorned with a red bow. Alastor noticed the confusion evident in your furrowed brows as you studied the box.
"It's for you. A present from me – A way to give thanks for everything you did in my absences," Alastor declared, making a sweeping gesture toward you and the box. You shot him a puzzled look, wondering what he could possibly have gotten you as thanks. As you pondered this, you slid the box closer and began to unwrap it, lifting the lid with anticipation.
A gasp escaped your lips as you peered into the box. There, nestled within, was a beautiful Cathedral Radio (Atwater Kent Model 82 for reference). You traced your fingers along its edges, marveling at the exquisite craftsmanship. You had been trying to find one of these for years, but they were always out of your price range.
"Alastor – This is gorgeous," You began, intending to express your gratitude, but he cut you off before you could finish.
"Oh! Isn't it? Much better than that dreadful Voxtech radio you had in your apartment," Alastor remarked, inspecting his gloved fingers with an unmissable amount of sass.
Oh, bollocks.
You offered a strained smile as a wave of awkwardness churned in your stomach. The past drama between the TV demon and Alastor bubbled to the forefront of your mind, casting a shadow over the moment. "Well... These are really hard to find now, and not to mention expensive—"
"Which is why you need one, my dear! Nothing but the best for you, hmm?" Alastor interjected with a grin, leaning closer and placing a hand on the table. His proximity and smug expression made your heart flutter nervously. "You do like it, don't you?"
"Of course! I love it—"
"Splendid!" Alastor cut you off with a flourish, turning to leave with a self-satisfied air. As he headed for the door, you couldn't help but reach out a hand, calling after him. He paused, glancing back over his shoulder, and your eyes locked.
"Thank you. I really do love it," you said, your voice softening as you looked down at the radio. For a moment, you thought you saw a flicker of something in Alastor's eyes—a hint of warmth perhaps, or genuine satisfaction. But it was gone in an instant, replaced by his trademark grin.
"Of course. Anything for an old friend," Alastor replied with a nod, executing a gesture akin to a regal bow before departing through the door, disappearing from view. As he vanished from sight, the bubble of awkwardness in your lower belly seemed to swell, leaving you feeling unsettled. A quick flash of memory teased you, hinting at something you couldn't quite place—an emotion flickering in Alastor's eyes that didn't quite match his usual demeanor.
Shaking off the confusion, you resolved to focus on the task at hand: settling into your new role. Drawing on the years of guidance from Alastor, you set to work organizing the paperwork and expenses. Despite the lingering questions and unease, you were determined to prove yourself worthy of the responsibility he had bestowed upon you.
Anything for an old friend.

I’m bored. I’ve had a bad week. So I’m just gonna answer these.
What do you do for work? Currently retail. I also work comic cons. I’ve worked in a library before too.
Tell me about your first kiss. Haven’t had it yet.
What playlists do you have on your phone? A few. I have one that’s a cowboy emoji for Jensen ackles and Christian Kane. I have a vampire for kiefer Sutherland and the lost boys soundtrack. I have one with a pirate flag that’s a mix of Alice cooper, Jeff beck and Johnny depp and the Hollywood vampires. I have one of just music that makes me feel good and I have another one of music I’ve just bought that I will listen to for weeks until I’m tired of the songs. And a Christmas list.
Do you like cooking or baking more? Cooking. I’ve burned myself on an oven too many times to enjoy baking.
Guilty pleasures? Uh actors turned musicians? Does that count? Sue me but I enjoy kiefer Sutherland and Jensen ackles and Johnny depp doing their new thing.
Something you regret. Not saying goodbye to my loved one. And getting an education degree.
Celebrity crush? Oh god where do I start haha currently it’s hugh grant and John larroquette. Since I was a kid it was kiefer Sutherland and Harrison ford. I’ve also been known to crush on a marvel actor or five.
How many languages do you know? Two. English and French.
Make a confession. I absolutely hate being in social situations. Parties, work, just being in places with lots of people but for some reason I am able to navigate and enjoy conventions with no problems.
What's your favorite book? Hmmm. That’s tough. Probably between three. Peter Pan and Wendy by JM Barrie. The body by Stephen king. Or one flew over the cuckoos nest by Ken Kesey.
What was your childhood dream job? Funny enough, I wanted to work with celebrities. Didn’t matter what I was doing just work with famous people. And I am.
Do you have any pets? No. But I want a husky and a black cat.
How many siblings do you have? Are you oldest, middle, or youngest? Technically, I’m the youngest and I have one older half sibling. But considering she left and basically has been cut off, I tell people I have no siblings.
How tall are you? 5’4”
What's something you're insecure about? I have muscle from years of dancing and karate. Lots of people get confused as to why I have it and makes me appear a little bigger than I am, especially when going to the doctor.
When is your birthday? 12/27
Embarrassing memory? Probably asking out my ex in the most anxiety inducing way while my friends played Disney love songs in the background
What's the most expensive thing you've ever bought? Material item would probably be my arc reactor from Disney. In terms of like con stuff, an autograph/photo op pair with kiefer sutherland.
Have you ever had a one night stand? Nope.
Have you ever been caught doing the do? Nope
A song that evokes a good memory? It varies. People are strange evokes the memory of meeting kiefer. Jesus of suburbia evokes the memory of seeing Green Day for the first time. The other side from greatest showman evokes the memory of being up at midnight dancing on tables with friends (we were sober too which was hilarious). “Just be honest for once in your life.”
“The only time I lied to you was when I said your outfit looked passable, dear.”
66 ;3
"Just be honest for once in your life."
"The only time I lied to you was when I said your outfit was passable, dear."
Bruce gaped at his captor, offended. The Riddler looked away, adjusting his tie, trying (failing) to look innocent. "You said you liked this sweater!"
"Yes, well, I am a crook, aren't I?" The Riddler reminded him. "I told you what I needed to to make the evening progress smoothly."
"You've got a lot of nerve, stringing a man along like this," Bruce huffed. Behind him, where his captor couldn't see, he'd nearly worked his bindings loose. "I'll have you know I was quite genuine when I complimented your outfit. Before you changed back into your greedy green guise."
"Aww, I'm touched." The Riddler held a green glove to his heart, sending Bruce an overexaggerated pout. "I did put quite a lot of thought into looking the part as Bruce Wayne's plus-one, you know, so I appreciate the sentiment. Even if you're wrong about which of the evening's outfits have suited me better."
With a flourish, he returned his green bowler to his head, swiping a hand along the brim and prancing away, waggling his fingers as he pored over his anti-vigilante arsenal, selecting a strange-looking gun-shaped gadget with wiring in places that made little sense.
"You misunderstand me, regardless," Riddler continued, though picking up from where, Bruce couldn't guess.
"On which point, Riddler?"
"On the topic of your outfit, Mr. Wayne," he clarified. "When you complimented my choice of attire, I told you I found yours merely 'passable'. The lie wasn't that I really found the outfit hideous…"
Bruce had to freeze, hands held still behind his back even though they were free, when Riddler rounded on him once more, mid-monologue.
"The truth is… I find it quite ravishing." The Riddler stopped before him, giving him a long look up and down, eyes lidded and smirk coy when he met Bruce's eyes again. "I was tempted to eat you up, then and there. But-!"
The strange weapon spun in his hand as he spun on his heel, too much a showman to stay in one place long.
"But! The potential payout of a positively princely ransom! Well… personal preferences aren't priority in a business setting. I'm sure you understand, Mr. Wayne."
"I'm… positive that I do," Bruce agreed, haltingly. Was the Riddler really saying…? "Though… surely you have the business sense to know this is the worse business option."
The Riddler regarded him suspiciously, eyes narrowed. "What are you saying?"
"Well…" Bruce pretended to struggle against the ropes, hoping to distract from the fact they'd now pooled on the floor. "The likelihood that you successfully get that ransom, when you know full well Batman and Robin will be after you for the crime of kidnapping a beloved public figure, such as myself, is much lower than the likelihood that a businessman with quite a lot of money, one that already agreed to take you as his plus-one to a party, might be willing to, say… buy you whatever it is your little heart desires?"
"Oh?" The Riddler seemed genuinely intrigued, pacing back over to Bruce's side and cocking his head. "Would you really, Mr. Wayne?"
"You never even thought to ask, did you, Riddler? Always stooping to stealing, catapulting to crime, you never even considered there might be a more honest way to get what you want."
"And what would you ask in return for your… generous offer?" The Riddler wondered, walking his fingers up the soft knit of the sweater he'd complimented earlier.
"I'm afraid the offer's no longer on the table," Bruce quipped, before whipping his hands out to disarm and disorient his captor. "You see, I don't take very kindly to being kidnapped."
"Oh, drat."

Happy october hun I luv your blog!! 🖤🖤🖤 I'd love to hear your thoughts about the cast of a Repo! remake because the other day I was talking w/ a friend about it. It's a great movie I don't think it needs a remake, but there are so many remakes being made, if there was one at least it would be great to get more ppl into the fandom. (Also I think like you... hate TZ, love Repo!) Who would you cast? I have no ideas, except for Isabelle Fuhrman as Shilo, she has the look and was badass in Orphan!
Hello dear anon and a happy October to you too! I love autumn and am really happy the hot days are over for now ^^ Finally it’s time for cozy clothes and hot chocolate <3
And I’m very happy you enjoy my blog, thanks for letting me know!
Haha, your question is really great, I had so much fun thinking about it :D But you’re right, it was not quite easy … and took me longer than expected to actually answer, sorry about that.
I’m pretty sure some obvious choices evaded my mind, but yeah, I had fun imagining different actors and actresses in the roles of our beloved (and not so much xD) characters.
A lot of Hollywood names are down there … yes, that surprised me as well, but as you said, dear anon, it IS really hard to come up with something (good) ._. Especially when it comes to male singers/actors. I listen mostly to female artists and found it very very hard to think out of the box for the male roles *sigh* So sorry if this is more like boring than entertaining xD
Mh ... for shits and giggles, here’s an all female cast with ladies I love to listen to first :3 Because why not and I feel like it xD
Shilo: Ulli Perhonen (Snow White Blood)
Nathan: Mary Elizabeth McGlynn (Silent Hill)
Marni: Tarja Turunen
Blind Mag: Simone Simons (Epica)
Rotti: Jessica Lange (Because Fckit, she’s perfect xD)
Amber: Marina (Marina and the diamonds)
Pavi: Zora Cock (Blackbriar)
Luigi: Maria Brink (In this moment)
Graves: Lzzy Hale (Halestorm)
And now a list of several other artists I thought of.
Shilo: I’m toootally with you on Isabelle Fuhrman, she was so amazing in The Orphan! And it’s true she’s got that Shilo look :) Another one that came to mind was maybe Sophia Lillis, I loved her in It and on “I Am Not Okay With This”. She has such a great and expressive face, and just imagine all these “What the Fuck”-looks she could give us xD
Nathan: At first this was tricky, but then, once I thought of him, I wasn’t able to think of anyone else. Namely Hugh Jackman xD He’s got that ambivalence that makes the character of Nathan Wallace, he can be fearsome (think X-Men), but he’s also such a sweetheart and a great “Father” (Les Mis, Greatest Showman). And I think he’d totally rock this part. Oooh, just thinking how he would suffer during “Legal Assassin”, or portraying the transition Nathan -> Repo Man during “Night Surgeon” … I’m getting chills just thinking about it xD
Blind Mag/Marni Wallace: I’ve put them together because I couldn’t decide between Tarja Turunen (ex-Nightwish) and Simone Simons (Epica) for either. They are both very VERY capable singers (I guess most of you could know them?). And I would LOVE to see Simone in some of Mag’s costumes, because she is sooooo beautiful, but Tarja has that “Mag”-Vibe that would fit so well and yeaaah … I just don’t know ^^’ And since we know Marni was also a singer, it would fit either ^^ But I think I’d like Simone a little bit more …
Amber: Katharine Isabelle. That was the first one I thought of and she’s the only Amber I can imagine apart from Paris <3 As my followers know, I've loved every second of American Mary because of her, and I think she’d have a lot of fun playing that part.
Luigi: Bill Skarsgard. He’s got that interesting face while emitting some kind of charme and charisma, and think could really act out on the temper issues xD
Pavi: That was actually quite hard, and I’m not totally happy with the people I came up with. I think it would be funny to use someone who’s naturally good-looking like Zac Efron or Matt Bomer, but then I thought of Ryan Reynolds and how much fun he’d have … But as I said, these are not very good picks :/
Graverobber: Also very hard. I thought of different people, but am also not very happy with what I came up with xD Names that popped up are Sacha Baron Cohen, Tim Curry and Johnny Depp. Each special in their own way and quite peculiar, but as Graverobber? Then I thought of Ryan Reynolds again and how funny it would be to see him act out “Zydrate Anatomy” and “Come up and try my new parts” with his wife, Blake Lively xD Mh, but to be honest I have no idea who I’d cast :/
Rotti: I actually have more picks for Rotti than I originally thought! At first I thought of Russel Crowe (I loved him and his singing voice on LesMis), then Jack Nicholson came to mind along with Danny DeVito (just for the giggles). Theeeen I thought, Wait, why not try something different? And then I landed on Jessica Lange, and actually loved the idea of making this role female :D I really think Jessica would be amazing.
And last but not least: Rotti’s Bodyguards MUST be played by the Soska Sisters as a cameo xD
Sorry for the textwall, this escalated a bit :’D

The more I think of it, the more it fits.
So you know this musical The Greatest Showman, which details the life of PT Barnum(aka the biggest scumbag who ever lived), right? Well, it’s freaky, but most of its songs(real bangers, btw) actually fit within the Season 2 arc and the characters motives really well.
Don’t worry, I will elaborate further.
(Note: This is going in on chronological order of when the songs appear in the film, so some events will be out of chronological order within the Greater Boston canon. Also, spoilers for literally everything in Season 2.)
1. The Greatest Show: The Red Line Referendum. ‘Nuff said. ‘It’s everything you ever want, it’s everything you ever need and it’s here right in front of you, this is where you wanna be.’ Fits especially well here.
2. A Million Dreams(till where the kids sing anyway): Little Charlotte with her tree of stories, constantly growing. ‘I think of what the world could be, a vision of the one of I see.’ Tell me, what could me more Charlotte than that?
3. A Million Dreams (Reprise): This is such an Ada song, come on. Besides, even in the film, Barnums kids sing this, expressing their wishes and desires. Ada may not be a very demanding kid(on the contrary, he’s a rat of sunshine on a cloudy day) and he is very optimistic.
4. Come Alive: This one has a slightly darker connotation in GB, as the start of the Lottery actually. It’s not just because it’s a big and fancy event in canon, it’s also the one where all hell breaks loose, except in the most literal sense. In any case, BAD.
5. The Other Side: Mild rant here: this song is awesome, the choreography is awesome. In comparison, the Emily Oliver interaction via mail, though just as cool, does seem a little plain. All I’m asking, all I’m asking is that they suddenly break out into song and squabble for a bit until Emily finally lets up and listens to him. Nah but seriously though, this is actually the interaction between Emily and Oliver in song form.
6. Never enough: ‘Kay this could be a bunch of people in canon actually, but the only successful assistance that’s actually offered here, that is beneficial to the main characters(in the moment anyway) is that by Melissa. She’s an incredible assistant and genuinely cares about the Linzer-Coolidges. Much like the opera singer, Jenny Lind, Melissa’s assistance helps take a massive load off of Charlottes shoulders, woo hoo.
7. This is Me(Major, major, major, major spoilers for both media here): Isabelle Powell actually addresses some very pertinent issues in her campaign, though actually present forth with little skill and foresight. When her nephew, Isaiah is arrested however, she takes her final stand. As a form of protest, she locks the passengers/ commuters out of the rail car, refusing them permission to travel. Whether the message empowers her, we aren’t exactly sure, but it certainly empowers us, teaching us how to say ‘NO’ when we’ve had enough. ‘This is Me’ not only fits here because the character is breaking out of her shell and learning to accept who she is, it’s also a form of empowerment, teaching all the circus people that they’re just as valuable, if not more so, than the supposed ‘normies’.
8. Rewrite the Stars(once again, major spoilers): This one’s a bit of romance one, in the Greatest Showman. In Greater Boston, however, it shows Leon’s desperation and inability to actually act, despite being able to see everything. In the end, much like Anne Wheeler, he realises just how much a selfish decision cost him, though is unable to remedy this problem the way he would like.
9. Tightrope: This too, actually fits multiple characters, though the ones which stand out most to me are Autumn(played by Beth Eyre, my beloved) and Tyrell. The song displays a kind of despondency on the part of Charity(Barnum’s wife) who laments how much everything has changed and how far apart they’ve grown. The Autumn one fits slightly more closely than that of Tyrell(No this isn’t my Beth Eyre Bias™️talking, this is an actual observation), in that Oliver ultimately did everything just to make his family a little more comfortable, have a greater position in society. Autumn, in her letter, however proves that she doesn’t quite care about Oliver’s social standing, just his presence in hers and Ada’s lives. It couldn’t be more perfect, actually. Similarly, (but not quite as close in situation) Tyrell admits that Dippy(refusing to use his full name, because reasons) has changed dramatically ever since he was promoted, and knows that he isn’t quite like this new person he’s become. He still has some hope that Dippy will realise this eventually, but has mostly given up by this point.
10. Never Enough(reprise): Melissa leaving the post. Need I elaborate further? Granted, this is a looser comparison than the remainder of the songs since Melissa doesn’t add really destroy any lives or careers (that weren’t already destroyed) ; she really just goes like,” Screw this, I’m out.”
11. From Now On(SPOILERS AHOY!!!!): The Mayor(the Original freaking Mayor, I mean) returns home, after reading Nica’s letter and realising just how big his mistake was. This could also be Nica realising the error of her ways and heading over the police station to confess(though this is quickly dashed by Dmitri’s appearance on TV).
12. The Greatest Show(reprise) (I cannot stress this enough, SPOILERS)): Charlotte forfeits the campaign for Mayor in a sudden twist, leaving only Emily as a viable candidate. This is also a fairly loose interpretation here, as unlike Carlisle, Emily strikes the audience as being a more harmful successor while Charlotte actually tried her best to govern the city of Red Line as fairly as she could. The comparison here, lies in that she and Barnum realise what important, and choose to focus on that, instead of chasing after a temporary dream.
That’s about it from me, folks. I’m sending this as an ask, because I don’t post very often in the Greater Boston tag, though I felt this was something worth sharing/ cursing your feed with.
See ya!
uhhhhhhhhhh Wow.
i guess I need to watch / listen to The Greatest Showman ASAP.
Thanks for sharing!

hi i saw ur requests were open and i would love if u could do a sokka x reader :) where reader is really shy and he likes to tease her and flirt with her to see her all flustered but she denies him actually liking her bc she thinks it’s just his personality to be funny like that. but then there’s the classic oh no there’s only one bed thing? thank you!
Ooooh I loved writing this! Tropes? Love them. Fluff? So fun, so sweet. I hope you enjoy, anon, and have a very happy holiday! <3
Teasing
Sokka x shy!Reader
Tumblr media
It was a well-known fact that Sokka was a tease.
Now, he wasn’t a tease in the common sense, more that he took some joy in being a so-called comedian. Y/N seemed to be the person in their gang that got the brunt of his teasing. Every time he came up with some sarcastic quip, she would laugh along with everyone else – though most of the time she was the only one who found him funny – but then there were the other times.
She had been sparring with Zuko, who was surprisingly adept with swords for a bender, when Sokka had come by whistling with faux innocence. As he took a seat on the floor, his eyes were trained on the fight. Feeling his blue-eyed gaze boring into her, she felt her entire body flush. Steadying her breathing, Y/N pushed down the flustered flutter bats inhabiting her stomach. A frustrated cry escaped her lips as she pinned Zuko’s blades to the floor with her own.
“Sokka,” She breathed out, hating how hot she felt. “Sokka, w-what are you doing?”
He grinned. “Just enjoying the view. You know, I always thought red was Zuko’s colour, but you are boasting a lovely shade today.”
Absently, Y/N put a palm to her face, only becoming more flustered as she realised her skin had in fact became darker. As the blood rushed faster through her body, she looked desperately at Zuko for some reprieve.
“Sokka, are you here for any reason other than being a complete clown?” Zuko said, sighing in pure exasperation even as Y/N had him pinned.
The boy ignored him completely. “Has anyone ever told just how adorable you are? Because you really are.”
“Sokka,” Zuko said again, his voice less patient. “Go away before we make you.”
“Alright, alright,” He tutted, hands in the air as if in surrender. “I’ll leave you two to your dance lessons. Call me if you fall; I’ll come and catch you.”
Waiting for him to be out of earshot, Y/N groaned, dropping her sword and freeing Zuko. Her entire face was on fire. Sure, it was a metaphor, a hyperbolic one at that, but if Zuko decided to shove his ignited palm in her face, it would not manage to be as hot as she was feeling now. It might be slightly less sweaty. Ew.
Lowering herself to the ground, she sat, stretching out her aching limbs, pouring water over her roasting head. Y/N, needless to say, was mortified by Sokka’s teasing, but when was she not? She was somewhat shyer than her female friends; Katara had this maternal instinct about her that kicked into overdrive as soon as someone seemed needy. It was honestly scarier than the Avatar State. Toph was just... Toph. The girl was at least four years younger than Y/N and utterly terrifying, approaching people and situations with no fear. Then there was Suki. Suki had a knack of getting people to like her, being the loveable, charismatic leader, she was.
And that left Y/N.
Y/N struggled being heard in many a conversation. Ask her to take a compliment? No. No. Not happening. No thank you. Her shy demeanour was labelled cute by a few different people, though they all seemed to be joking – especially Sokka.
“Do you want me to sort him out for you?”
Y/N looked up, meeting Zuko’s very serious gaze for just a moment before staring at the ground. “No, it’s okay. He’s like that with everyone.”
“What?” Zuko frowned, slumping to the ground too. “What are you on about? He doesn’t flirt with everyone!”
“That wasn’t flirting!” She insisted, feeling that bashful flush creeping in again.
“He was just teasing, like he does with everyone!”
Zuko’s lips quirked. “He called you adorable.”
“Yesterday, he called Momo adorable.”
“He said you flushed was your colour.
“And he said that red was yours, sunshine.”
“Oh, Y/N, I’ll catch you if you fall!”
Y/N stammered. “He could have been talking to either of us!”
There was some silence between them. Y/N didn’t usually mind sitting in silence with Zuko, who was just as awkward as her most of the time. However, the wide, toothy grin like a catgator’s was highly disconcerting.
“Zuko, I don’t know what you’re seeing, but he wasn’t flirting,” Y/N said finally, quietly commanding. “He’s just messing around like he usually does.”
The prince sighed, suppressing his mischievous grin. Raising his swords, the pair charged each other again.
                                                      ✦
In the midst of a war, there wasn’t much space for fun. With the constant movement between the Western Air Temple and many significant locations to build their defences after the Day of Black Sun, Y/N found she hardly had time for anything other than training and strategizing. Sure, she may be considered meek when compared to her peers, but her mind was sharper than her blade.
After watching Aang master firebending, Sokka masterminding a prison break, and Katara nearly murdering a man – all with Zuko’s help – she had some whiplash. She might even say that she had been somewhat blindsided by them, but she didn’t particularly mind. It was when they moved onto Ember Island, however, that Y/N found there to be an issue. In all the excitement, or terror, of being separated from Haru and the others, and possibly murdering Sparky Sparky Boom Man, the gang ended up hiding out on Ember Island.
Spirits, did Y/N love the sunshine. The sand? Not so much, nor the swimsuits. Nevertheless, she much preferred it to Aang’s beloved ancestral temple.
“Okay,” Zuko said as they all collected together in the house, “So there’s a bit of an issue.”
“Fire Nation?” Katara asked, eyes narrowing.
“Worse,” Zuko said, voice grave. “There are seven of us, and only six beds.”
The teenagers all looked between each other with varying looks of embarrassment and disgust. It was Toph who spoke first.
“Well, I for one do not want to share a room,” She scoffed, stomping her foot – a reminder of her power. “I can already hear all of you when we sleep on the ground. I am not missing out on my chance for a quiet night of sleep.”
“That seems fair,” Zuko hummed as he pulled a hat off of a dresser. “Everyone else, unless they have some reason why not, will put their name in here.”
Sokka whined, pointing his finger at the heir of the Fire Nation. “Fine! But they should get the biggest bedroom.”
Y/N swore Zuko smirked. “Done.”
Sat on the floor watching him write names, the group waited anxiously to see who would be sharing a room at least for that night. Mixing up bits of paper, he seemed to be building up some bravado, akin to a showman about to pull a jackalope out of a hat.
“Sokka.”
The boy cursed under his breath as Zuko continued on with his little show, the piece of paper disintegrating as easily as a leaf floating in a breeze.
“And Y/N!”
She met Zuko’s eye, entire body hot, sending a psychic message along the lines of sprits, no, Zuko, no, please, Zuko, don’t do this.
Despite the fact that Y/N knew Sokka was only joking with his teasing, somewhere along the line she had ended up falling for it – for him. It was sudden and violent, the way a meteor crashed through the atmosphere, roaring, brilliant, and completely obliterating anything in its path. Currently, Y/N was that metaphorical meteorite, burning up and crashing into the earth.
Since Zuko apparently couldn’t read minds, she chanced a glance at Sokka. She expected some sort of joke, a quip, anything. Instead, he was deadly silent, stony in his face, staring too at Zuko. Was he blushing, or was she making it up in her head? This question soon slipped from her brain as she those baby blue eyes were staring straight at her.
Tui and La, Agni, spirits above; he hated her.
“Cool!” She said, though it came out more like a squeak. “I’ll see you tonight, I guess.”
“Y/N, we have the entire day before- “
She cut Suki off. “Yep, busy today! Busy, busy, busy. Plenty of strategic planning to do before the big day!”
And she was gone. Even Aang, renowned creator of the air scooter, had never seen a person move so fast, and Y/N wasn’t even a bender. In her haste, she didn’t catch the sly looks, nor the disapproving one courtesy of Katara. She definitely didn’t catch the shy grin on Sokka’s face, muddled with complete embarrassment. Getting as far away from the house as possible was her current goal, and she achieved it with insane speed – and longevity.
For an entire day, Y/N managed to see none of her friends, excluding Appa and Momo. Her animal friends seemed very concerned and very interested in her noughts and crosses diagrams in the black volcanic sand of Ember Island. It was only when Yue began to rise above the horizon that she thought it would be safe to come out. With what felt like a walk of shame, she trekked back to the beach house, a sleeping Momo cradled in her arms like a baby. Even Appa, who had been occupied with all sorts of made-up games throughout the day, was beginning to sway, eyes drooping, weighed down by sleep. Settling them down in the warm sand, Y/N climbed the wooden stairs.
Being quiet used to get her everywhere unseen; it didn’t work that night. Wordless, her friends’ good night wishes falling on deaf ears, she entered the biggest bedroom, alone. Falling face first onto the bed, she muffled a frustrated scream into one of the too many decadent pillows adorning it. Heaving herself onto her back, Y/N groaned dramatically with the effort it took. This bed was so soft. She tried to think of a more comfy, luxurious bed she had ever been on – and failed. The four-poster frame was casting odd shadows across the dark room. It felt especially lonely.
She felt especially lonely.
Sitting up, a low rumble filled the silence. Her stomach was apparently rather unhappy with the distinct lack of food during the day. Y/N had forgotten about that. She weighed up the options; go out and face embarrassment, or skip dinner for the first time in her life. Fortunately, she needn’t think long.
“So, everyone’s going to bed, and I remembered you hadn’t eaten.”
Sokka.
Of course.
“Oh,” Was all she could manage, mentally kicking herself for her utter lack of articulation. “Th-thanks, Sokka.”
Flicking on the light, the shadows no longer seemed odd, nor did the room feel lonely. There, in the doorway, stood Sokka. He was pretty – something that always took Y/N by surprise even though she saw him every day. Sure, he hadn’t grown into his gangly limbs yet, but he was getting there. His shoulders had gotten broader, his arms larger from training. She couldn’t help but imagine how comfy he’d be to lie against, how warm his hold would be.
“I brought snacks?”
Opening her mouth only to close it again, Y/N felt like a fish thrown mercilessly out of water. Instead, she managed a timid pat on the bed. He was slow to react, slower to move, and she only felt more inadequate. Whatever Zuko thought he saw at the temple was wrong.
“Wow, this bed is soft,” Sokka gasped, bouncing lightly on it like a small child. “It’s like sitting on a cloud!”
Y/N couldn’t stop the giggle that passed her lips as she took a slice of fruit from the platter he had brought in. For the briefest moment, infinitesimally small, Sokka ceased with his childish antics and just looked. Brightening, he seemed to thrive – delight – in her laughter, continuing to goof about with the numerous pillows and posh looking decor.
“Whoa.”
Y/N looked up at him from her laughing, stomach aching with joy. “What?”
“I didn’t know you could get prettier,” He said, brows furrowed, eyes sparkling.
She turned mute in an instant, feeling that all too familiar flush again, only this time it was close – more intense. Silent, she took another piece of fruit, eating it in moments, anything to give her time. “You’re teasing me again, aren’t you?”
He frowned. “What? No. I’m not- “
“It’s okay if you are!” Y/N insisted, her smile plastered on and her heart aching. “I know you joke about with us all, and it’s just how you are. It’s not a bad thing, and I know you’re just joking and- “
“Y/N,” Sokka said, almost incredulous. “I’m not joking. I have never joked about that kind of thing with you.”
She stopped dead. “What?”
It wasn’t a question – well, not to Sokka at least. That one word was her address to the universe. It was astonishment, frustration, incredulity, sheer joy, so many emotions all wrapped into one simple word. The moments that passed between that word and their locked gaze spoke a thousand more words, sang a hundred more emotions.
“You didn’t know?”
Her head was empty. “Prettier?”
“That’s what I said, isn’t it?” Sokka chuckled weakly, moving the platter to the side.
“Prettier,” Y/N repeated slowly, looking up at him, “As in I was already pretty?”
“Erm, yes?”
“You think I’m pretty?”
“Tui and La, yes.”
Oh.
“Okay,” She said, testing the waters, “And you like it when I blush?”
“Yeah, you look cute,” He admitted, sheepish as he rubbed the back of his neck.
Looking down, bashful, she recalled training with Zuko. “The word you used was adorable.”
No words came in response to that, only a gentle hand on her cheek. Guiding her face up, Sokka looked at her and saw her. Y/N could see him reaching for words that danced in his mind and away from his grasp, so many more pretty, teasing words he could say. But he wasn’t teasing, not really. He certainly wasn’t when he pressed his lips to hers. It was sweet and easy to melt into; she didn’t need to be shy, not with him.
They shared more sweet kisses, laughing under the moonlight in that fancy bed they got to share. Fruit, a bed, kisses; they shared them all, drifting into an easy sleep as the moon began to slip away into daylight. Basking in the prospect of a lazy morning, they made the most of it.
They weren’t even mad when they found out Zuko rigged the entire thing.

mmmmmm maybe everyone's relationships with eachother? (your tenth class ocs) is there anyone who doesn't get along?
Oh yea!! Prepare this is probably going to be a long answer-
Let's start with Electri. She's one tough nut to crack when it comes to fully understanding her and befriending her. At first she only trusted Phys and Medic, since they are her parents and she came to Mann.Co with them, so for the most mercs she was unreachable, with a big snarky attitude. What's unsual for her is that she QUICKLY became best friends with Assailant and Scout (later her bf <3). With Assailant it took a longer while than Scout though, you could hear her saying thing such as "Ginger, if you want us to be friends ya gotta stop acting like an asshole."
About Astronaut and Glider, Electri absolutely loves them, she appreciates their helpful hands they give her all the time and besides she's lovestruck in Glider's cooking. They do argue and disagree a lot tho, mostly it's pretty much "softie vs. punk" case, but other than that they stay on positive terms.
Painter is her bestest friend!!! She loves her very much and they're both tough gals who will punch ya in teeth <3
She doesn't really get along with Hijacker that much, she just prefers his more cocky and agressive twin.
Assailant next. As I said, Electri is his best friend and it took him a while to get used to her as well, Lant unfortunely has really big trust issues, but he does trust Electri a lot. She's really the only girl that likes him for what he is...
Assailant gets along super well with Astronaut! She sometimes just works as his personal taxi and she carriea him everywhere while he shoots at people <3
Painter is his beloved girlfriend, oh boy. He loves her so so much you dunno how. He always gets so emotional around her, and absolutely spends as much time as he can with her.. He has a fragile soul hidden under the coat of a tough and strong cocky guy!
Assailant with Glider and Phys are... Positevely neutral? There's nothing deep about them, he still very appreciates them as teammates and works with them very well, but there's nothing to add. It's just friendship.
Assailant with Hijacker? Well.. Their brotherly bond is complicated. They sure do love each other a lot and care about each other but they still playfully bully each other like spill drinks on each other shoes or call eachother by their full names (they hate it lmao). Sometimes the mercs think they're abusive to each other but they reassure them it's just brotherly rivalry.
Astronaut on the other hand is literally loved by almost everyone. My bunch still finds her bubbly, childish, oblivious and naive behavior annoying, but they know she means well and being bubbly is like her copying mechanism.
They appreciate her helpful hand as well, especially Glider. Did I mention that The Leetle Glider and Towering with 6'7ft Astronaut are bestest friends in the world? Unfortunely Astronaut is easy to manipulate for your own gain because of her naiveness, but she is assertive. It's just she falls into temper tantrums sometimes and gets angry at everything, but the mercs know one thing: You never upset Astro.
Painter is one mysterious lady. She's silent and quiet, it's like she doesn't care. That's what my bunch thought at first, but they just had to approach her from a better side. A quieter and more peaceful side to co-work with her perfectly. Painter values everyone, but Electri and Assailant are her beloved friend and boyfriend. With Hijacker it's more complicated. She likes him as Assailant's brother since she sees how much care he gives him but she's... Neutral to him as a person? No one knows what sits in Painter's mind to chose the "dirty, stupid and brain-dead" twin over the "elegant, smart and intelligent" twin.
Glider gets really well with everyone too, especially Astro. Astro could sacrifice herself for her little friend while Glider would do anything to help Astro. They're just a match made in heaven <3
At first most of my bunch were sceptic toward Glider, they thought she'd be super weak and they hired a weakling, but her acrobatic and gliding skills were what made the mercs respect her. Of course, some of them (especially Assailant and Hijacker-) jokingly say how she's "so small you'll get killed first!!" and she gets bothered about it a lot. Then when she's angry she sounds like an angry desert rain frog.
Glider gets along... Horribly with Phys. Spending time with her is truly a nightmare for her, she always thinks she's going by any second put her on operation table. The fact that she dislikes doctors doesn't help at all.
Physician is complicated too... Most of my bunch sees her as the biggest mother figure ever, the fact that Electri absolutely loves her and she loves her very much too helps her image a lot too. Electri is Phys' most prescious thing, her little princess, her whole world.
Youngsters from the bunch think of her as a step-mom too, mostly Assailant and Hijacker, the two that really wished to have parents.
But what worses it is the fact she's just as mad as medic, maybe even more. They're concious of what she can do, but she assures them she's not going to hurt or use them for her advantage. Still, most of the mercs fear her.
She has a short temper though. She uses the "GET TO WORK OR I'LL PUT YOU TO ETERNAL SLEEP" kind of trick to intimade the mercs, but other than that and few other crazed things she loves them all.
And lastly, Hijacker. I'm still working on developing his character, so I haven't figured this out yet.
But. He has this loving brotherly rivalry with Assailant but from his side it's more of passive-agressiveness than lashes like Assailant does.
Overall, the mercs have really mixed feelings about him, from one side he's super charming but from the other side he's a big bossy boot. But he has a kind heart of a showman.

My Quarantine Watchlist
hello! i hope this post finds you in good health. today i decided to go a little out of my category of what i usually post and make a movie watchlist. if you haven’t seen what i usually repost, i’m a huge movie buff, and are always adding new films to my watchlist. (you should add me on letterboxd! same username.) so, i compiled a list of my top 10 movies. some of them aren’t considered to be critically acclaimed, but they are still comforting and happy, especially during this rough time we are having. i hope you give these a try, and let me know what you think! disclaimer: i am not a movie expert! some terminology i use is definitely not correct lol.
1. rocketman - dir. dexter fletcher, 89%
this movie really means so much to me, it’s definitely one of my absolute favorites. taron egerton does an absolutely amazing job as elton john, not just through his performance but his through his singing. yes, he sings the music as well! the music is also perfectly placed throughout the movie to tell the story of elton john’s life.
synopsis: pretty self explanatory; a musical fantasy about the life of elton john.
2. onward - dir. dan scanlon - 87%
really awesome pixar movie! definitely a great movie for anyone who is a fan of animation, some of the most beautifully animated scenes i have ever seen! i guess that’s just pixar for you.
synopsis: a teenage elf ian lightfoot and his brother barley are given a spell to bring their late father back to life, but when they mess up the first time, they have to go on a quest to find a phoenix gem to bring him back.
3. eddie the eagle - dir. dexter fletcher - 82%
another masterpiece by the dexter fletcher and taron egerton! this is my favorite movie of all time. it’s so heartwarming and motivating, it’s a great pick-me-up film for when i’m feeling down. taron egerton is definitely a chameleon actor, and can slip into any role with ease! him and hugh jackman have such great chemistry, and this movie easily displays that.
synopsis: based on a true story, olympics-bound eddie edwards trains for the winter olympics as a ski jumper, one of the most dangerous sports in the world, with help from his drunken “coach,” bronson peary.
4. lady bird - dir. greta gerwig - 99%
ugh. this movie. i can’t! when i first watched it it left me speechless. it’s an outstanding coming-of-age film, and a great mother-daughter film as well. christine and her mom’s relationship is hilariously heartwarming. another touch i love is the grainy filter throughout the movie. it was a great touch to add an early 2000′s feel! saoirse ronan’s performance was extraordinary. everything about this movie is 10/10, and i cannot recommend this movie enough, especially to teenagers heading off the college.
synopsis: marion mcpherson, a nurse, works tirelessly to keep her family afloat after her husband loses his job. she also maintains a turbulent bond with a teenage daughter who is just like her: loving, strong-willed and deeply opinionated.
5. love, simon - greg berlanti - 92%
love, simon is a perfectly made film to demonstrate the experience of coming out as a gay teen. it’s funny and witty, with some heart-warming yet heart-wrenching drama. i can’t explain it, but this movie makes me feel things i didn’t think i could feel. nick robinson is a great actor, and this movie got paid dust!! by everyone!!
synopsis: everyone deserves a great love story, but for 17-year-old simon spier, it’s a little more complicated. he hasn’t told his family or friends he’s gay, and he doesn’t know the identity of the anonymous classmate that he’s fallen for online. resolving both issues proves hilarious, terrifying, and life-changing.
6. jojo rabbit - dir. taika watiti - 80%
when i first saw this movie in the theater, i wasn’t sure if i was going to like it. i’m not a fan of war movies and violence, so i was a little uneasy. turns out this could possibly be one of the best movies of 2019! roman griffin davis is the best child actor i’ve ever seen. this movie is a wonderful depiction of anti-hate, and of what life was like for germany during world war II. it shows in a funny way how silly nazi views are. it creates humor over such a sensitive subject, yet you don’t feel bad for laughing!
synopsis: a world war II satire that follows a lonely german boy whose world view is turned upside down when he discovers his single mother is hiding a young jewish girl in their attic. aided only by his idiotic imaginary friend, adolf hitler, jojo must confront his blind nationalism.
7. little women - dir. greta gerwig - 95%
greta gerwig strikes again! she literally has never made a bad movie. this movie is based off of the famous novel little women. it has a star studded cast of timothee chalament, saoirse ronan, florence pugh, emma watson, and laura dern. the power of women!!
synopsis: in the years after the civil war, jo march lives in new york and makes her living as a writer, while her sister amy studies painting in paris. amy has a chance encounter with theodore, a childhood crush who proposed to jo but was ultimately rejected. their oldest sibling, meg, is married to a schoolteacher, while shy sister beth develops a devastating illness that brings the family back together.
8. the greatest showman - dir. michael gracey - 56%
my favorite original musical movie. hugh jackman is such an amazing singer and actor! this movie was one of the first movies that really turned me into a true film admirer. the music has some of the most beautifully written lyrics i know, and it’s a great family movie! it’s intense, yet happy, yet sad, yet exciting, yet every single emotion one person could feel.
synopsis: growing up in the early 1800s, p.t. barnum displays a natural talent for publicly and promotion, selling lottery tickets by age 12. after trying his hands at various jobs, p.t. turns to show business to indulge his limitless imagination, rising form nothing to create the barnum & bailey circus.
9. bohemian rhapsody - dir. bryan singer - 60%
although it may have it’s inaccuracies here and there, this movie is still heartwarming and conveys a heartwarming message and moral. rami malek performs as freddie mercury wonderfully, and the chemistry between the cast is indescribable. and what takes the cake? the live-aid re-enactment at the end of the movie, with the band’s mannerisms and everything recreated to the t.
synopsis: freddie mercury - lead singer of queen - defies stereotypes and convention to become one of history’s most beloved entertainers. the band’s revolutionary sound and popular songs lead to queen’s meteoric rise in the 1970s. after leaving the group to pursue a solo career, mercury reunites with queen for the benefit concert live aid - resulting in one of the greatest performances in rock ‘n’ roll history.
10. anchorman - dir. adam mckay - 66%
my favorite comedy of all time. will ferrell, steve carrell, and paul rudd are all my favorite comedians, so this movie speaks to me. it’s hilariously stupid, but i still love it and recommend it to everyone i know.
synopsis: hotshot television anchorman ron burgandy welcomes upstart reporter veronica corningstone into the male-dominated world of 1970s broadcast news - that is, until the talented female journalist begins to outshine burgandy on air.

After having watched the 2021 Snyder Cut, while not being the biggest fan of Zack Snyder, the two things I can truly take away from this movie are:
A- The studio did Snyder dirty, they completely sabotaged his movie because of racism and money mongering. They completely ruined beloved characters and reduced their complexities to being the comedic relief. The only character in the original that actually has complexity to them is Wonder Woman, and that's not saying much.
On top of that, they did it while Snyder was grieving his dead daughter. How fucking low can they get?
And B- Modern movies deserve longer runtimes, not shorter ones. Some of my favorite movies from the past 10 years all have at least 2 & 1/2 hour run times, some even hitting the 3 hour mark. I've noticed a trend among movies lately where the story is so utterly rushed constantly. Movies that deserve that extra time to flesh out characters or have some more explaining before time jumps.
The War for the Planet of the Apes was a three hour long movie that finished off the new trilogy reboot of Planet of the Apes. This movie was over 3 hours long, it was fantastic.
But, I cant tell you many others, aside from Avengers: End Games, that were actually really really well done and received. In my personal opinion as a movie enthusiasts as well as an unlicensed filmmaker, movies suffer from having too much story to tell and not enough time.
Let me use The Greatest Showman for example, brilliant movie that did wonderfully by both critics and the average audience, but by god, its pacing is a mess. The story of this movie is so fast, especially in the beginning, that it feels like you're meant to be getting emotional whiplash. I believe tacking on another hour or 40 minutes to The Greatest Showman would have fixed this issue.
The Pet Cemetery remake also suffers horribly from this problem too. Only being half the runtime of the original, it suffers from needing to info dump its watcher halfway through just to make time, even though this information should already be known to the husband who's being info dumped on. A movie that has such bad pacing because it have too much to tell in too little time, I honestly couldn't tell you the names of the characters because all of them are forgettable, because you dont know them. Let the remake be as long as the original, add in some extra time with the cast members, let the mom have a panic attack that establishes her backstory rather than info dumping, and stop trying to rush stories.
People always try to tell me that today's audience doesnt want to see a movie that's over 2 hours long because today's generation "has short attention spans because they grew up with the internet".
And all I have to say is "How fucking rude."
To even suggest that this generation cannot sit through 3 or 4 hour movies without getting bored is just a fucking lie. If your characters are compelling, your story is engaging, and the audience is actually sympathetic to the plight of the plot, then yes audiences will watch a 3 or 4 hour long movie. But of course you dont believe that they can, so you condense about 2 and a half, maybe even longer, worth of a story down into an hour, an hour and 40 minutes. You cut away at all the "unnecessary bits" in order to get the point across.
Do you big studios wanna know why your movies arent doing so well by audiences review anymore? Its because you dont give the audience the full fucking story anymore!
If your movie told in its entirety is going to be a 4, 5 hour long movie, either let it be long, or make a part 2. Stop being so greedy as to think that we would just consume this laziness without care. That we wont boycott your movies. That we cant just pirate movies and completely ignore even having to give you money. That we cant see the racism and sexism and homophobia behind your actions.
Stop thinking your better than the little guy because you have money. When in reality, you only have money because we let you.

Top 5 movies! And top five video games
Ooh, the fact that I only watch 2 movies and play like...1 videogame dfjhdfkj but I’LL TRY.
Top 5 Movies:
(5) The Greatest Showman: WELL, I’M A THEATER GAY, WHAT DO YOU EXPECT. I’ve said everything there is to say about the Problematic aspect of it, but it’s a Banger, it makes me happy, I love it (also it’s my mom’s fave so I love that, too).
(4) Mamma Mia!: WELL, I’M A THEATER GAY, WHAT DO YOU EXPECT. Like, it’s Mamma Mia, need I say more? (I want to be back at the Mamma Mia Sing Along movie showing, I haven’t been as happy since).
(3) Death At A Funeral: I like stupid movies, and the one thing I’m gonna say is the Brits make some deliciously stupid movies. I haven’t watched this one in a while so like, whatever, but it was so ridiculous and hilarious and I just love that kind of stuff. I am Not an Intellectual.
(2) Clue: One of the 2 movies I watch over and over again. Clue is just a masterpiece of comedy, and there will never be a time where my friend and I don’t go “LET US IN, LET US IN” “LET US OUT, LET US OUT” at each other. It’s delightfully funny, incredibly quotable, and just an all around Great Time.
(1) Inception: And literally Nobody was Surprised. Christoper Nolan went my movie is gonna live rent free in your mind for the rest of your life and I went yes sir thank you sir. My most Absolute Fave Movie ever.
(Shout out to Airplane! and Monty Python and the Holy Grail as well! I love having a laff!)
Top 5 videogames (actually video game franchises):
(5) Jackbox Party Games: Absolutely essential at any get-together (or zoom get-together now). They’re just so fun to play, and it’s always fun to invite new people into the insanity that is JB. My faves that I have are Trivia Murder Party (literally nobody trusts me with the money minigame, I wonder why...) and Fakin’ It, which is a BLAST.
(4) Professor Layton: I have such a fondness for the PL games. I used to play Curious Village with my mom, and we’d have such a great time solving puzzles together. I’ve only played the DS games, but still, I love the series a lot. Unwound Future punched me in the gut and it was wonderful.
(3) Zero Escape: And fueling my love and excitement for escape rooms is the ZE series. What a fantastic adventure it is, I wish I could go back and play them for the very first time again. My fave of the three is Virtue’s Last Reward, it really blew my mind also i’m sigma kin lmao joke or nOT.
(2) Trauma Center: TC slaps so hard and Atlus is a little bitch. But yeah, the TC games are so much fun but also DAMN HARD, I have never been able to beat UtK1 up to this day. I love them a lot, I love the characters dearly, and although I’m more of a TC person than a TT person, I love them all and I just wish we could have a nEW GAME, ATLUS, GODDA-
(1) Ace Attorney: GAY LAWYER SIM! Ace Attorney has been in my life for over 10 years now, and it’s one of my most beloved interests ever. Before I knew what fandom was, I had my friends to joke around with and do mock trials with yes i was the resident phoenix wright and like, I can’t really imagine my teenhood without AA. It’s so much fun, so delightful, so full of amazing characters and stories and excitement, I reccommend everyone to play it!

Writing Tag Game
I was tagged by @red-exo 💕💝💖
Rules: complete the quiz and tag 5 people
1. what is your ideal setting for focusing on your writing?
Tumblr media
I write in my study at home currently and I find I focus best in spaces that I’ve been able to decorate. I have a lot of art & objects in my study to kind of stimulate and kick start my brain... I love being surrounded by cute stuff as well as paintings, sculpture and plants (don’t judge me on my Mark Lee bullshit!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My biases are showing!!! (or the ones my so called ‘friends’ bought me lolol I see you kiki, encouraging bad things!!)
2. what is your favourite genre to write?
Tumblr media
I really enjoy writing crime, and obviously, I love writing smut. I find soft fics really quite specific, and therefore they can be a bit more difficult to master, but I love the challenge of writing them so I’d say that’s up there...but I also love writing some bullshit with cliffhangers and jokes so???
3. do you prefer to write on paper, or digitally?
I write all my smut & fanfic digitally, usually in the form of Google Keep notes, then drafts in Word for the big works, or Google Docs. I write academically on paper though, as it requires a bit more drafting.
4. it’s the middle of the night and you suddenly wake up with an idea. what do you do?
Grab my phone (usually under the pillow cause I’m a terrible addict), open up Google Keep and note it down in the most broken English drunken typing you’ve ever seen - adding a picture if I especially need to.
5. who is your favourite BTS person to write about ?
I’m going to cop out and do a top 4! Because I never usually have a singular favourite with questions like this!
Tumblr media
Hobi (personal favourite)
I know it won’t come as a shock that Hobi is definitely one of my favourite people to write about. I love playing with the different shades he presents, and flirting between slick showman and soft sweetheart. I think my version has a deep seriousness behind his eyes and some kind of quiet dark side - and hopefully that comes across in my writing. I definitely write Jay more than J-Hope, and whilst I don’t think his fics are necessarily my best works, I love his presence in them.
Tumblr media
Namjoon (most natural to write)
It’s pretty straight forward; I find Namjoon the easiest to write. I literally put Joon in a fictional room and then get busy focusing on the rest of the cast because I really don’t have to think about what Joon would do. I prefer to write him hard & a little angsty, but I also adore a bit of love-struck Joonie bear. My go to Dom for sure.
Tumblr media
Taehyung (most difficult to write / greatest achievement of writing)
If you have been here for the full two years (anniversary in October!) that Sweet Teeth has been a thing, you would remember how much of a problem I had with writing Taehyung at first. I would get a lot of Tae requests and each one was a legitimate struggle to complete. Then I decided to write a smut drabble of Taehyung & a certain mirror and whooo boy, the rest is history. I really take pride in my Tae writing now, and I actually really enjoy putting him in things.
Tumblr media
Jimin (favourite to surprise with)
I enjoy writing against type, and for some reason a lot of people write Jim in a completely different way to me. I have always seen him as a ‘kill with deadly kindness’ type, and I love to write him as lethally sexy, sweet but with a wicked smile. It’s also really fun because there seems to be a core group of Jimin fans who absolutely die for that version of him and I love writing for them (and me!)
6. do you like making your own characters, or do you usually write about real people?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I usually write about real people, but obviously fictional versions (’my versions’) of them. I also really enjoy writing my own characters (like my beloved Duchess & Artemis above & below).
I consider all my characters my own though, because I always remember a piece of advice my father gave me - I had complained to him that any writing ideas I had were ‘already written’ and he came back with
‘the ideas may have been written before,  but they haven’t been written by You.’
Your own voice always makes a difference. You bring your entire personal history, your influences, your vocabulary and your comprehension to whatever you write, it comes along with you subconsciously like a suitcase in your mind, so any person you write, even if they’ve already been written by others - will always carry with them little pieces of you. Original characters are just the chance for less influence from exterior sources because they’re wholly a combination of your personal viewpoint.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
7. have you ever written a book, or a story with more than 15 chapters (or 100k words)?
I think the most I’ve written on one story was about 50k, when I was around 18. It was a Lord of the Rings / King Arthur / Sci fi fantasy.
8. how often do you get ideas?
If I averaged it out I’d say I get at least one new concept a day, but some days I get a whole bunch, and some days I get none because I don’t have any time to focus on writing. But my brain is really high running and I often ricochet between inspiration points and mood so it’s not like all the ideas are good, even if there is a lot of them, and I often lack the discipline to action all the ideas I have!
9. do you ever get an idea that you really like, but just can’t seem to finish?
Tumblr media
That’s literally my life 24/7/365, see answer above.
10. what is your least favourite plot?
Tumblr media
Here comes the rant.
As far as smut goes, my least favourite plot is a toss up between sex that sounds implausible/ unnatural and the really tropey fanfic cheese tropes/aus/plots - like ‘they were roommates’ or ‘enemies to lovers’ or ‘he’s a complete bastard but i love him anyway’
Now first off, don’t get me wrong, I love a trope. I’m a bit fan of using them and I rely on them pretty heavily, especially in my longer pieces. However, if I see another ‘college au enemies to lovers au’ Imma scream. COLLEGE ISNT LIFE OMG PICK ANOTHER SETTING. COLLEGE IS BORING IN COMPARISON TO THE GRIT AND THRILL OF REAL LIFE SEX! DO YOU KNOW WHAT SEX FEELS LIKE WHEN YOURE DOWN ON YOUR LUCK AT WORK AND ALL YOU HAVE IS THAT 3AM MOMENT OF HEAT AND TIMES RUNNING OUT AND THEY HAVE TO BE GONE BY MORNING CAUSE YOU’LL NEVER SEE EACH OTHER AGAIN... WHY DIDN’T WE DO THIS YEARS AGO???
And as far as my first point, I just find that sex that is either difficult to read/access ‘what are they doing? what position are they actually in? where are they??’ or is completely unbelievable/untrue to how bodies work - ‘she’s so wet but so tight’ & ‘i can see his dick’s outline in my belly’ really breaks my immersion and drops me right out of any sexiness in the fic itself.
Like, our job as smut writers, in my opinion, is to arouse you. We’re supposed to write stuff that gets you, the reader, off.
It should be accessible, so you can understand it easily, and it should be realistic, so you believe its really happening - because you can relate to it. That way you get turned on quicker and better because you’re fully in the dream space of the writing. And when people make these simple mistakes, of describing shit that’s unrealistic to the point of uncomfortable or using stereotypes that read as unfeminist, it just reads to me as inexperience, or a lack of understanding of the way the world actually works. It prioritises things that I don’t agree with, and empowers treatment I don’t recommend.
Like girl, no. Just, no.
I generally believe that the sweeter, the fonder you are towards your potential readers, the better - if you can think of them as someone you want to treat, to treasure, to spoil, that thought will ring through in your writing. Tenderness is underrated in fanfic, and I think it’s so healthy and healing, and we all deserve it.
Thanks for tagging me Kat! I loved doing this!
I tag @gotmetalkinginmysleep, @thotantics, @lamourche and @feedmeramyun if they want to do it/haven’t done it yet!
*@bangtan-sonyeon-scans credit for scans! (seriously, go follow them, its like the best place for scans!)

Cleansed by Fire (The Last Temptation, 1994)
Tumblr media
Article found at: https://fridayswithalice.com/cleansed-the-last-temptation-2/
“Cleansed by Fire” Lyrics:
I don’t know but I’ve been told The streets of hell are paved with gold Crazy, crazy You told me that nothing’s free Except my own insanity Crazy, maybe Wake me, shake me Wake me, shake me
You offer me the world and all its wealth All for myself You promised me a life eternally And drink to my health I may seem only half-glued But I can see right through you
Burn it up, burn it down Burn this sucker to the ground Oh yeah, oh yeah Going, going, going, gone There’s a party going on
Do you think I don’t know who you are A fallen star When I feel my soul scream out at night I know you’re not far You need a better disguise This one won’t win any prize Burn it up, burn it down Burn this sucker to the ground Oh yeah, oh yeah Going, going, going, gone There’s a party going on Cleansed by fire, cleansed by fire I may seem only half-glued But I can see right through you What about dark What about light What about wrong What about right What about death What about sin What about the web you’re trying to spin
What about truth, What about life What about glory, What about Christ What about peace, What about love
What about faith in God above What about war, What about hell What if I stumble, What if I fell What about blood What about greed And all of these things you’re offering me
Yeah, what about me, little me You lose and I win You couldn’t suck me in
It’s over, you have no power You’re lost And I’m found And I’m Heaven bound Go back to where you belong To where you fell Go to hell “The Last Temptation” is a concept album that deals with the life of a teenager named Steven, one of Cooper’s infamous characters.  Steven is shown what the world has to offer – power, money, women, freedom, etc. – by a mysterious character known as the showman.  As the album unfolds track after track, it becomes evident the showman is Satan.  Overall, the album deals with the trials, temptations, decisions, and many avenues down which we can decide to go in life.  It in many ways parallels the Gospel accounts of Jesus’s temptations as He spent 40 days in the Wilderness.  In my opinion, this album is the highlight of Cooper’s career.  We will be looking at many of the songs on this record.
“Cleansed by Fire” is the last track on the album.  It brings Steven to a crossroads in his life.  Will he accept what the showman is offering him or will he walk away?  In turn, choosing a life greater than those things here on earth.  While I’ve never seen an interview with Cooper directly stating this, I interpret the cleansing of fire to be attributed to many different verses in the Bible.  Scripture that deals with deliverance from our enemies and also what we’ve coined the “Refiner’s Fire”.  I’ll list other scripture references for these two topics at the end of this post, but I’d like to use James 4:7 and 1 Peter 4:12-13 as the references for this post.
7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. – James 4:7
In this verse, Jesus’ brother, James explains that when we submit to God.  His Spirit, the Holy Spirit, gives us the power to resist Satan’s attacks causing the enemy to flee.  Throughout the album and this song we find Steven slowly figuring out who the showman actually is – ultimately, choosing to flee from the enemy and accepting the Lord.  Giving him the strength to withstand the temptations of this world.  Walking instead in faith.  Gaining victory in Christ.  Making him Heaven bound.  And forcing Satan to flee.
*James goes on to give five ways in which we can draw nearer to God:
Submission to His Will (yielding to His authority, committing our lives to Him and His control, showing willingness to follow him.
Resisting the Devil (ignoring Satan’s attempts to entice and tempt you)
Washing our hands and purifying our hearts (replacing our desire to sin with a desire instead to experience God’s purity)
Grieve and mourn in sincere sorrow for your sins (we should be willing to express deep sincere sorrow for our sins)
Humble ourselves before the Lord (He in turn will lift us up, honoring our walks with Him)
12 Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.  -1 Peter 4:12-13.
In those verses, we find Peter rejoicing at the chance to take on life’s trials head on.  Rejoicing for the glory that is given us when choosing Christ instead of the world.  He goes on to talk about continually doing good in the eyes of God – knowing that the ramifications on this earth will, at times, lead to suffering, pain, loss, etc. but ultimately bringing us closer to God in the process.  Peter, in chapter 5, goes on to claim that through our trials and sufferings – Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish us.
This song is not only powerful in word, but also in musical presentation.  The melodic, yet dark, tone leaves one a little unsure as to where it’s going to go.  Yet when the drums kick in during the “Wake me, shake me” lines of the song – it’s as if an awakening is taking place.  As if Christ has been accepted, the Holy Spirit now dwells within and opens the eyes of the believer.  From that point on, the song goes through the process of the believer as they rely on the Holy Spirit to guide them through life’s major trials, decisions, etc.  Ultimately, delivering the believer from the bonds of sin and death.  Definitely one of the more powerful songs I’ve ever heard from Mr. Cooper.
In conclusion, I pray that if you have not come to know the power of transformation through our Lord, Jesus Christ, that you would consider doing so.  This world and life have nothing to offer us.  Our power and strength are gained and derived from His Spirit dwelling within us.  If your eyes have not already been opened, I pray that you would listen closely to this song and study the scriptures referenced above and below.  There’s no time like the present to embrace the ‘cleansing’ of His holy fire.

ELEGANCE PT. 2-THE WEDDING
Rami Malek!Freddie Mercury x Male!Reader
2k+ words
SEPTEMBER 5, 2015. That’s when the planning began. Same sex marriage had only been legalized in the UK a year before, but that didn’t stop any of the anxious couples, young and old, to finally tie the knot in a legal manner. This obviously didn’t stop Freddie from beginning to ponder over the best wedding he could envision. For (M/N) and himself, it would have to be nothing less than brilliant. He already had his venue, Garden Lodge itself! A private wedding, close friends and family, no cameras, no hungry journalists, just the most important people in his life, especially his cats. Although some had passed on-his poor Delilah left them 2 years ago, Oscar the year before, and Tiffany just last year-he had gotten at least 2 new ones to keep the other grieving cats company. Goliath and Mike were still running a muck, older in age such as their “father”. Romeo was the adventurer really, along with Lily. The newest additions were still curious little kittens, a female calico named Minx and a male munchkin named Napoleon. They would all be included in the wedding, of course, decorated with flowers and bows, the whole nines! However, his planning had to halt due to Queen’s comeback tour. Yes, the boys were still going strong in that day and age, their now much softer bodies moving about the stage with the same amount of energy they had in their early 20’s. Freddie could still rock the crowd at the age of 69, his aura never changing from the eccentric showman. John had come back for that tour after being in retirement since 2005, having to deal with his ever growing family. Brian and Roger were still there through thick and thin, their antics never ceasing to surprise Freddie.
Their tour left (M/N) at home to tend to the cats. The now retired dancer continued his old warm up exercises to keep his shape, although some of his muscles had become softer than they used to be. He was 70 at the time, only a year older than his dear husband, and still retained the same amount of energy as he did. He had incorporated cleaning around the house into his daily regiment, bursting out into laughter as the cats would attempt to hook onto the long broom he used for the wider halls.
JANUARY 11,2017 was when Freddie had taken his leave from Queen, retiring at the hearty age of 71. That was when he had taken the entire year to pick back up on planning his dream wedding, even inviting Mary over in order for the work to move along faster. This included discussing the color of the suits for the two grooms, as well as the best man's suit for each of them. Freddie would wear black, of course. He loved seeing when (M/N) wore white, it complimented his figure as well as his skin. The seating was quite easy. The band and their families would sit on one side of the aisle while their families would sit on the other. Freddie and (M/N)’s parents had grown quite close once they had discovered their sons were dating, and had been nothing but supportive of their relationship. “What about red roses? They’re quite simplistic, but the meaning behind them remains the same.” Mary suggested for the bouquet the (M/N) would have. “I do love a classic rose..alright i’m fine with that, but make them thornless! Can’t have my husband pricking his finger during our vows.” Freddie responded, tapping his pen against the kitchen table of Mary’s home. He didn’t want (M/N) fretting about the wedding plans, the poor man already took care of so much when Freddie had told him it was fine. “And this is going to be a summer wedding, correct?” Mary inquired. “Yes, hopefully early summer rather than late. Possibly late June at the least.” Freddie replied, setting his pen aside as Mary scribbled down a date on her legal pad. They continued discussing what foods they would want, beverages-preferably alcohol, but Freddie knew he wouldn’t be able to drink too much- as well as wedding favors for the guests. He had also taken the liberty of buying two new bands, one simple gold one for himself and the other encrusted with 3 small diamonds for (M/N). He held them in his hand at the moment, going over each detail, especially the small engraving on the interior of the ring.
“Mr. & Mr. Mercury”
JUNE 23,2018. This was it. The big day. (M/N) fretted over his graying hair, attempting to push it one side, then to the other, before Louisa, now a lovely young woman and his favorite “niece”, came into view, moving his hands aside as she began to fix his hair into a simple yet stylish fashion. (E/c) irises followed her movements in the mirror, a cheeky smile plastered on his face as he saw the outcome. “Handsome as always, Uncle (M/N).” Louisa commented. “Only with your help, love.” (M/N) replied, voice gruff as he straightened his bright white shirt, adjusting his wine red bow tie before Louisa assisted him with his jacket, careful to not disturb the matching red suspenders that held his pants in place. “I know I shouldn’t be so nervous, but I can’t help it. We’re finally able to legally become husbands.” (M/N) rambled about, mainly to himself as he continued to fret over his appearance. Freddie was in a similar condition. His black suit feeling tighter than it had been when he tried it on due to his nerves, especially the squeezing around his neck from his white button up that held his black bow tie in place. Mary fussed over a certain piece of his ashy gray hair, finally turning it into place before placing a soft peck on his cheek. “You look fabulous, Freddie. (M/N) is a lucky man, and so are you.” she said, dusting off the nonexistent dust from his shoulders before pulling him into a hug, which he returned immediately. His patchy salt and pepper beard rubbing against her cheek once they pulled away. “I couldn’t look my best without your expertise, Mary.” Freddie complimented, his pearly whites flashing brightly as he smiled down at her. It was at least 30 minutes before (M/N) was to walk down the aisle and he couldn’t be any more anxious. Roger was standing to his right, dressed in a steel gray suit, the jacket unbuttoned as his hands were placed on his hips. “Fred, don’t worry. You’ve been waiting for this your entire time with (M/N), and so has he, so I want you to take a deep breath, and don’t get your knickers in a twist!” Roger exclaimed, standing in front of his friend, their equal height allowing his blue eyes to piece Freddie’s brown ones through his sunglasses. Freddie gave him an appreciative smile before turning his gaze over to John, who was standing tall-yet anxious- across from him. It was no surprise when John was asked to be (M/N)’s best man, and he couldn’t have been more ecstatic. He was wearing the same suit as Roger, however his jacket was fastened by the button in the middle. His graying hair frizzled about as it was caught in permanent curls upon his head, much my Brian’s. Speak of the devil, and he shall come as they say. Brian came up to Freddie, looking down at him before hugging him, smiling happily. “Don’t be nervous Fred. Like Roger said, you’ve been waiting far to long to be nervous now.”Brian said, fixing his suit jacket, again, the same color as Roger and John’s. The group was interrupted by the familiar chords of “Here Comes the Bride” erupting from the piano that was seated at the pavilion just behind their small venue. And there stood (M/N). He looked exquisite in his suit-Freddie gave his compliments to the tailor- for it shaped him in the best of ways. His mother was the one walking him down the aisle since his father's legs have not been in the best condition that they once were. Both of his parents were nearing the end of their lives, Freddie’s had passed on years before, but that didn’t stop them from seeing their only son wed his beloved. Louisa stood in the other side of Mrs.(L/N), holding onto her brittle arm as they reached Freddie at the altar. She had reached up, bringing (M/N)’s face down to place a soft kiss on his cheek before shuffling her way back to her husband, who was sat beside her seat in his wheelchair, their caretaker watching alongside them. The priest held open the book in his arms, smiling as the two took each other’s hands. “We are gathered here today to wed (M/N) (L/N) and Freddie Mercury in holy matrimony.”he started, but was soon drowned out once the two grooms made eye contact. Freddie gave (M/N) a cheeky smile followed by a wink, causing him to break out into a wide grin. John chuckled beside (M/N) as he watched their actions, his heart swelling as he watched his two best friends finally fulfill their greatest wish. “And now, the vows.”
“Freddie, I knew I wanted to marry you after the night we had gone out on our..oh what was it..11th date?”(M/N) started, a chorus of laughter coming from the guests. “You remember that one, when we were in America for your tour, and we went to the drive-in movies late at night as to not get noticed, but some teenagers across from us began to freak out once they spotted you.” (M/N) chuckled out, Freddie following with a harmonious laugh. “Yes, I remember, darling.” “That night was quite exhilarating because the cops ended up being called because of the commotion. We were escorted out of the drive-in with the promise that we’d never return. And that’s when I knew I wanted to marry you. All you were doing in that situation was laughing and joking about. And I couldn’t help but go along with it.”(M/N) said, smiling widely. “I love when you laugh, smile, hell even when you’re just staring off I love you! And I’ll never tire of saying that because if I do then I would’ve never said it to begin with.” (M/N) concluded, sniffling softly as a few tears escaped his glossy (e/c) eyes.
Freddie reached over to caress his cheeks, smiling up at him with tear filled brown eyes. He took in a shaky breath before even attempting to speak. “(M/N)...you taught me how to be patient, how to love, and to be loved, and, most importantly, how to be myself. Without you, I would be lost..I would be just the shell of who I am today..and that’s no fun now is it?” he stated, earning a laugh from the group. “I am so happy that we are here today to be wed in holy matrimony in front of my friends, no..my family..who are all so near and dear to me. I wouldn’t have it any other way.” Freddie concluded his short, but sincere, vows.
“Do you, Freddie Mercury, take (M/N) (L/N) to be your lawfully wedded husband?Through sickness and through health, for better or for worse?”
“I Do.”
“And do you, (M/N) (L/N) take Freddie Mercury, to be your lawfully wedded husband? Through sickness and through health, for better or for worse?”
“I Do.”
“Please, exchange the rings.”
Freddie and (M/N) each reached over to John, who had to rings in his pocket, before placing them on each others left ring finger. The duo had wide grins that couldn’t be wiped away even if they tried.
“By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you, Mr and Mr Mercury! You may no kiss your husband!”
Freddie didn’t hesitate to pull (M/N) in for a deep kiss, playfully dipping him as their guests erupted into cheers and applause.
This was the happiest day of his life.

2018 Movie Odyssey
That is time on the 2018 Movie Odyssey. Though the number of total films I saw increased this year, that was mostly because of a stratospheric rise in short films I saw - thanks to my time at the 2018 Viet Film Fest and Turner Classic Movies’ (TCM) decision in March to begin airing one classic Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) short and a Popeye short every Saturday morning except in August and select Saturdays. I saw two hundred and sixty-two films in their entirety that were completely new to me this year - 156 feature-length films (includes one serial) and 107 short films. The number of features was expected to go down this year because of the Winter Olympics in February and the FIFA World Cup in June/July. With only the Women’s World Cup in June/July 2019, maybe there’ll be an increase next year (we’ll see how employment impacts the number too)?
If there is anything that disappoints me about this list is that, again, there is only one African film (a short) featured this year and one from Latin America (Roma). There used to be a handful of classic African films on Netflix, but Netflix’s recent moves to emphasize television and its Netflix originals has blocked off that possibility. So here’s hoping in 2019 there will be much more representation from Africa and Latin America - not only among short films, but in features especially.
For all those who participated and supported the Movie Odyssey in any way - by reading, liking, commenting on, or reblogging a write-up; talking with me about movies we’ve seen; or even sitting down with me to watch something... none of this possible without you. So all of you have my thanks. The Movie Odyssey continues, as always. Onward to 2019.
As many of you know, all ratings are based on my imdb rating and half-points are always rounded down. My interpretation of that ratings system can be found here. A 6/10 is considered the borderline between “passing” and “failing”. Feature-length narrative films, serials, documentaries, and short films are rated within their respective spectrums. Here is the list... beginning with Disney and ending with Disney.
