Tumblr media
Every time you flew down to Mystic falls to visit your parents, your mom always ended up talking about how disappointed she was about you being 24 and single. This time was no different. You sat at the round glass table with your mom and your dad, eating a casserole that your mom made a few hours prior to your visit. It hasn't even been 10 seconds into eating before your mom cleared her throat to speak, you mentally prepared yourself for what was to come
"Y/n" she began "you're twenty four. You need to settle down and start a family"
You inwardly groaned and rolled your eyes. This is a conversation that you were never able to avoid, not when you were 21, not when you were 22, not when you were 23 and not now. What your parents don't understand is that you are a very busy woman. It's not that you don't want a boyfriend, you'd love to have someone to come home to and talk about your day with but you just don't have time for one right now. Not only were you a young and attractive woman who just wanted to have her fair share of fun before she couldn't anymore but you also had a serious job that requires a lot of your attention
Your mom got married to your dad when she was 22 and then went on to have you at 24. She wants you to follow in her footsteps and start a family early so by the time you're older you don't have to worry about raising children. The thing is though is that your grandparents were millionaires, they coddled and spoiled your mom endlessly, to the point where she didn't need a job or to do anything for that matter so she decided start a family. Although your mom inherited her parents riches when they passed away, you refused to be spoiled rotten. You wanted to work hard for what you have and you did. You love and respect your mother but you refuse to sit around all day in a house too big, being a stay at home mom who does nothing but cook and clean
"Please don't start. I came here to see you and dad, can we not focus on my love life today" you said as you pushed your food around the plate with a fork, avoiding eye contact
Your mom placed her fork on her plate and sighed. "Honey I just want the best for you. I want you to start a family like me. What about that adorable Matt" she replied
"Mom no" you scoffed "wh- why would you even suggest that?"
Matt was a childhood friend of yours from middle school. You still hang out with him probably once or twice a year but you guys drifted apart a long time ago, there were no hard feelings, it's natural. Your mom loves Matt though, every time you see her she says "you and that Matt kid would make a great couple" or "he'll be your husband one day I'm telling you" but she hasn't even seen him since you guys were 18
The sound of your chair scraping the floor filled the room as you pushed back in your seat to get up. "I haven't talked to Matt in a while" you sighed and grabbed the plates before walking through the door that connected the dining room to the kitchen so you could wash your dish "and please stop telling your friends that I'm looking for a husband. If Mrs. Lockwood calls me one more time, I'm pulling my hair out" you said loud enough for her to hear
You began scrubbing the dishes as your mom walked in and leaned on the counter next to you, her brown bangs fanning messily over her forehead. "Okay I'm sorry honey. I just want you to find a ni-"
"nice guy and settle down" you finished for her "I know and I will. Just not now. There's so much I want to do for myself before I have to share my life with anyone else" you turned the faucet off and shook your hands before drying them on the kitchen towel
She sighed but prodded no more, just tapping the counter "okay honey, we have guests later today" she said before heading to the living room. Your dad leaned against the door frame and you knew he was going to say something, having heard that whole conversation. He shook his head before walking over to you and placing his dish in the sink. "She's just looking out for you in the only way she knows how" he kissed the top of your head "I'll talk to her about it okay?"
You nodded as he turned around and walked out of the kitchen. You released a heavy sigh and grabbed your phone off of the counter before leaving through the backdoor to get some fresh air. You had many messages from your friends, they must be worried since you haven't talked to them since you landed which means it has been two days now
[Caroline]
Y/n, are you okay?
I said text me when you get there remember??
Bonnie is gonna spam call the group chat if you don't answer
[Bonnie]
Hey! Just checking in
I stg you better not be dead
I'm calling
[2 missed calls from Bonnie]
[4 missed calls from 'the girls who care']
You chuckled to yourself upon seeing those messages. You decided to three-way call the group chat so you didn't have to go back and forth texting both of your friends. You sat down on the rocking chair as your phone rang
"You bitch" was the first thing you heard once the ringing stopped. Caroline picked up first then Bonnie, they were both scolding you at the same time and you just sat back on the chair and sighed since you couldn't get a word in yet
"Do you understand how worried we were?!" Caroline shouted into her mic
"Seriously, we were about to pack and fly down there" Bonnie added on a bit calmer but you could tell she was just as upset
You waited for them to get silent before you responded "I'm sorry guys. I didn't think things were going to be hectic as soon as I arrived"
They sighed because they knew exactly what you were talking about. The first and last time you ever invited your friends down to visit, your mom embarrassed you endlessly. Not the cute embarrassment when she talks about your baby pictures and coo over your squishy cheeks. No, the embarrassment that comes with getting yelled at in front of your friends for not wanting to get married at 22, the embarrassment of your mom practically telling your friends that they might as well kill themselves if they don't start a family early
"You need to put your foot down y/n" Caroline said with a huff "just cuss her out or something"
"She's my mother Care, I can't cuss my mother out"
"Sure you can" you could picture her rolling her eyes at you "all because she's your mom doesn't mean you have to take the constant disrespect"
Caroline was the one you don't go to for advice and the times you do, you don't really listen to her much. This time, maybe she was right, maybe you do need to put your foot down but if you were going to do it, it wouldn't be today. You waited for Bonnie to say something, anything. She's the calm one, the one that talks some sense into them when things were going wrong and you needed some sense right now
Bonnie sighed exasperated "Y/n, don't cuss your mom out. Caroline, stop suggesting stupid shit like that" you nodded as if she could see you "just sit her down and talk to her about it, your dad is on your side so both of you could team up and make her see that you can make your own decisions about your life and you don't need to be hassled for it"
You face palmed yourself "I've done that already Bonnie. I can't- I can't talk anymore, I've done enough talking with her"
That's when Caroline decided to speak again "well..." she started. You and Bonnie were prepared for her to say something absolutely useless but she said something that actually kind of peaked your interest. "Why don't you just tell her you already have a boyfriend? To get her off of your back at least for the rest of your visit" she said nonchalantly
"Wait- say that again" you demanded, getting up from the swing and pacing the back porch
"Uh, just tell her you have a boyfriend already?" She said it like it was a question "I mean it might be stupid but it could work. Your mom just wants you to settle down, tell her that you will and she'll be excited enough to leave you alone"
"Care you're a fucking genius!" you shouted, you kept your phone stable by using your shoulder as you pumped your fists in victory as if you had the idea yourself. "Gosh I love you guys so much. I'll have to talk to you later okay?"
This plan was absolutely fucking genius. Caroline can be on the dumber side sometimes and her ideas were over the top but there are times where she has those moments that made you want to grab her face and kiss her silly and now was one of those amazing moments.
"Wait" Bonnie tried "Y/n think it through first you can't just-"
You hung up. Of course Bonnie was going to have protests and you'll call her to talk about her opinions later but for now you have a plan and you want to get everything in your head situated first. You texted the chat saying sorry for hanging up so abruptly then you put your phone in the back pocket of your jeans before flinging the back door open
Nobody was in the living room so you threw yourself on the couch and turned on the TV just for some background noise while you sat deep in thought. Deep in the back of your mind you knew this plan would never work but if it did end up working out the way you hoped, you'd have a relaxing rest of your visit. Now you're certain that she'll ask a shit ton of questions, things like "what's his name?" And "when did you meet?" Or "why didn't you tell me this sooner?" So you came up with an answer for all of those questions. Once you came up with your fake backstory and a name to go with it, you decided to go up to your room and take a nap
You knew that you should probably get started on dinner but you were burnt out from the day and the constant nagging you had to put up with. The stairs creaked as you walked up two steps at a time. Your bedroom was still decorated the same from when you were 17 years old. Tacked onto the pale blue walls were multiple BTS posters, a light brown, wooden desk was pushed into the corner closest to the window and right in the middle of the spacey room sat a queen sized bed with pale blue sheets to match the walls and a heavy black comforter because your parents loved to keep the house cold
With a heavy sigh, you closed the door and went to the bathroom that was connected to your room. After washing up and cleaning your face you threw yourself onto the soft bed and curled under the comforter. Later you'll think things through more but right now you need to get some serious shut eye
"Y/n!" You heard a muffled voice shout out. It was your mom standing at the bottom of the stairs calling for dinner. She had a phrase for waking you up when you were a kid "two shouts before I come in and throw ice water on you". You realized that was her second shout once you heard the stairs creak with every step she took to come up
You rolled out of bed, your butt thumping the ground pretty hard. "Shit" you grimaced and lifted yourself to rub your right ass cheek before you heard your doorknob turn. Your mom flung the door open and stood in the doorway with a big blue cup in her hand, no doubt full of the coldest water she could find. "Hi mom, I'm up" you said groggily as she eyed you like you were crazy. You were sitting on the floor half asleep with one eye open, just your bra and panties on, rubbing your bruising ass cheek while your blanket was tangled around your legs, you could be seen as crazy. She opened her mouth to speak but shut it right away, just nodding and shutting the door quickly with a thud
Okay, so not the best way to say hello to your mother but if she knew how to knock she wouldn't have caught you in such a compromising position. You placed one elbow on your bed and another on your bedside table to hoist yourself up with a grunt. "Jesus fucking Christ" you mumbled as you dragged yourself to the bathroom to make yourself presentable. Your mom was inviting one of her co-workers over for dinner and she briefly woke up earlier to tell you to dress your best because there was someone she wanted you to meet
You thought that maybe she was trying to get you to talk to one of her friends so you could get a job in town, you knew how badly she wanted you to move back in with her and your dad. So when you walk down stairs in your black, tight fitted long sleeved shirt, camaflouge print cargo pants - cinched at the ankles, and black, leather converse high tops, you weren't expecting to see one of the most gorgeous men you have ever seen before in your 24 years of living. Your mom was talking to a lady who you assumed was her co-worker while the man looked around the living room, smiling at family pictures and touching the plants
"Oh Y/n you're here!!" Everyone looked at you at the announcement of your arrival. You waved shyly then walked over to your mom with your arms stiffly at your sides. She introduced the woman as Vanessa Salvatore, the CEO of Salvatore inc, the largest car company in all of North America. Your jaw damn near touched your toes, when your mom had said co-worker you wouldn't have thought that she meant the CEO of the goddamn company she worked at
The woman shook your hand firmly and called over the man who was walking around the living room. "This is my son" she said as he walked over. He was dressed in a white button-up shirt, paired with a grey suit and brown shoes, his dirty blonde hair was gelled back, a missed curl falling prettily in front of his eye. As he planted himself next to his mother you noticed that his eyes were a beautiful emerald green and his jaw was chiseled to perfection, it could cut through diamonds if he tried. He was devastatingly gorgeous, taking your eyes off of him would not be easy
"Hello, I'm Stefan Salvatore" he held his hand out and flashed a beautiful, toothy smile. You smiled right back at him and took his hand, shaking firmly like your mom taught you. "Y/n Smith, nice to meet you" you replied, trying to sound professional, this must be something important, pertaining to your mothers job. You pulled your hand back while he stared at you, intensely like he was trying to read you through your eyes. You were starting to feel kind of hot under his gaze so you turned around to go help your father set the table
Your father greeted you with a smile when you walked through the doors "hey honey" he said as he grabbed a stack of napkins "help set these plates, will you?" He kissed your cheek then walked past you to set down the napkins. While you grabbed the plates you heard the kitchen door swing open, you turned around to see who it was and there was Stefan, waving hello to your father as he walked toward you
"Y/n right?" Stefan grabbed the glass cups that were stacked on the counter next to you "sorry if I stared a little back there, you are a gorgeous woman" he said, you could see a slight smirk on his face, he's confident, that's either a good thing or a bad thing. "Thanks, you're a very handsome man" you returned the compliment before going to set the plates down. He followed you to the connected dining room and set a cup down beside every plate you placed on the table. A comfortable silence wrapped around the two of you as you both worked to set the table
After the table was done being set up you called everyone into the dining room to eat. Your mom cooked since you had taken a nap (you reminded yourself to apologize for that later). She made baked macaroni, sliced ham, sliced turkey, yellow rice with gravy and baked chicken. You were ready to dig in but guests first was the biggest rule whenever you had company over. You waited until their plates were fixed then you eagerly stood up and placed some of everything on yours
"So Michelle, I heard that the idea of two engines was your idea" Ms. Salvatore held a hand to her mouth as she talked. Your mom nodded her head "I was quite shocked at hearing that but after learning so much about you I could see that you are a smart woman". You smiled proudly upon hearing this, your mom had been working on that two engine idea for the better part of a year, when she finally got the chance to pitch it to her higher ups she was a big ball of nerves, calling you every two seconds before she had to be in the boardroom
Your mom bowed her head shyly "thank you so much Vanessa" she said gratefully, a hue of pink faint on her cheeks
Conversations flowed perfectly after that. Ms. Salvatore asked you questions like where you worked and where you lived now and you had answered truthfully. You were the head photographer at the modeling agency you worked at in New York, Lights up studios
Mrs. Salvatore's eyes lit up "Oh! A photographer? My Stefan is a model and he lives in New York too" she pat his shoulder "It's hard to get him to come visit since his schedule is very tight but he manages"
"Me too, I visit whenever my schedule dies down a bit" you cleared your throat and looked at Stefan "a model? You are very handsome" you noticed the way your mom looked between you two with a big smile on her face. "Which companies have you worked with?". You wanted to know if he ever worked with your company before, maybe before you began working there he had done some shoots
Stefan shrugged "uh, nothing big just-" he looked at his mom and sighed, she was obviously very proud of his profession "Gucci and Louis Vuitton, places like that" he scratched the back of his head, for some reason embarrassed
Your eyes widened and you put your fork down "Oh wow that's totally big. I would love to see your pictures one day". You could tell he was about to decline but his mom already had her phone in hand and pictures pulled up. Stefan's photos were amazing, he was a natural and whoever his photographer was, they were so very talented. Your breath caught in your throat at one specific photo from an underwear photoshoot, it was hot but it weirded you out that you were looking at it from his moms phone. You sat back up and started chewing on a piece of ham while his mom showed more pictures to your parents
Dinner was great. After you and your mom had finished clearing the table, everyone gathered in the living room. After thanking Mrs. Salvatore for coming over, your dad went upstairs to his room because he had to get to work early tomorrow. Your mom sat next to Mrs. Salvatore on the couch and they seemed to be talking about something important. Stefan was sitting on a recliner, looking a little lost so you decided to sit on the one next to him
"Hey" you said as you sat down "I apologize, I wouldn't have asked if I knew you were going to be a bit uncomfortable". You were feeling bad about his obvious discomfort when you asked to see his pictures. He obviously didn't like talking about his profession much and you didn't mean to pry
He flicked his wrist dismissively "It's fine. I wanted to show them, I just uh, get a little embarrassed when my mom starts to talk about it" he lowered his head "it's stupid"
You shook your head "it's not stupid, I know how you feel". Hearing your parents brag about you is the worst, especially when it's about something as big as what Stefan does. You couldn't even imagine your mom pulling out pictures of you to brag to anyone she has a chance to brag to
"I'm surprised I've never bumped into someone as sexy as you up in New York" Stefan suddenly leaned over and whispered into your ear, deep and raspy. Heat immediately pooled in your stomach at the sinful sound. He's obviously not shy when it comes to flirting, is what you thought to yourself
You chuckled "is that so?". What you did next was bold but you didn't care. You turned your head his way, he was still leaning close to you so now your faces were only inches apart, you could see the shards of gray in his eyes and the way his lips formed a lopsided heart. "Well Mr. Salvatore, now you know where to bump into me" you whispered against his lips. His eyes flickered to your lips then back to your eyes
Just as he was about to reply, Mrs. Salvatore called you both over. You got up at the same time and walked over to the couch. Your mom was looking around nervously and that made you nervous but you didn't say anything, you waited for whatever was about to be said. "Uh, we think you two should go out and get drinks. Let the adults talk some more"
You looked at your mother and just like you thought, she wasn't making eye contact with you. No way was she trying to set you up with her boss's son. "Mom, can I talk to you in the kitchen" you said with a fake smile on your face
"Honey" she laughed awkwardly "we have guests"
"Just for a minute"
You turned around and walked to the kitchen, knowing your mom would be right behind you. "Mom what the fuck?" You whisper shouted once she walked in and the door was closed "your boss's son? Are you serious right now?"
She raised a brow "excuse me young lady? Watch your mouth" she sighed "now it's just to see how compatible you two are. He's a sweet young man and if you're going to get married soon then-"
You threw your hands in the air and interrupted her with a groan "I don't want to get married mom, what don't you understand!"
She was pleading with her eyes now "Y/n just try, you might like Stefan, he's a sweet boy. And he has seemed to take a liking to you already"
"Mom I don't-" You sighed tiredly, you have no more fight left in you and no more strength left to even finish that sentence. Everything you tell her goes in one ear and out the other, you can't do it anymore so you just agreed. You glared at your mom one more time before leaving the kitchen, mumbling a quiet "nice to meet you" to Ms. Salvatore before snatching your car keys from the hook by the front door
"Let's go Stefan" you said with a little sass as you threw the front door open and walked out into the night. Stefan was right behind you, closing the house door and scrambling to sit in the passenger side of your black Mercedes E Class. Once in the car, you started it and exhaled heavily "do you mind if I bluetooth this?" You asked Stefan as you held up your phone, indicating you needed to make a call. He shrugged and sat back, buckling his seat belt
As you pulled out of the driveway the sounds of your phone ringing filled the car. You needed some sense right now before you angrily killed you and Stefan by driving off of the next bridge you cross so you called the only person who could give you some sense. "Hello?" A voice whispered, she was obviously sleeping and you would feel bad if you weren't completely pissed
"Bonnie, why the fuck do I put up with this shit? I can't talk to her and to hell with the fake boyfriend plan, that wasn't going to work anyway and I knew it wasn't the minute I put my head down to nap" you were going on and on, to anybody else the silence would mean Bonnie doesn't really care but you know she's just listening intently "I can't do this shit anymore. I can't keep coming down here and hearing the same shit and worrying about the next man my mom is trying to marry me off to in Mystic Falls. It's exhausting Bonnie"
You weren't even angry anymore just exhausted. You tried to understand your mom, you tried to sympathize with her, you tried to be angry with her but none of it is working. Nothing you do is going to stop the constant nagging and the constant questions about your love life and the silent judgement you get from her friends whose kids are already married
Bonnie hummed "what happened y/n? Did she tell another one of her friends that you want a husband"
"Basically. She invited her boss and the lady's goddamn son to the house for dinner then sent me out to get drinks with the fucking son" you chuckled dryly "she thinks I didn't notice her smiling at us like we were going to get married right there in the fucking living room"
Stefan was looking at you like you were crazy but you paid him no mind. He knew exactly what you were talking about because judging by the way his mom was smiling from ear to ear upon introducing him, she definitely told him he needed to start looking for a wife too
"Is he ugly?" Is what Bonnie asked, you saw Stefan smirk out the corner of your eye and this time it pissed you off so you said the logical answer
"Yes" you bit back a snicker when you saw his eyes widen "and he's shorter than a troll"
"Hey! You're a liar" Stefan said, pointing an accusatory finger at you
"IS HE IN THE CAR?" Bonnie shouted, you winced at how loud it was, leaning over to turn the car volume down a little
You released a laugh, high pitched and squeaky "yeah he is" you laughed harder "you should see the way he's glaring at me"
Before you knew it, all three of you started laughing. It felt nice to laugh like that and you felt less pissed. Bonnie then stopped laughing and called your name, you hummed in acknowledgment. "Just make the most of it okay? Don't think of it as your mom sending you off on a date, think of it as you meeting a new friend" she said
You nodded your head, she's right you need to think more positively. Stefan is funny and handsome, you won't marry him but you sure would fuck him if you had the chance. So why not make the most of it? "You're right Bon, thank you" you sighed "I don't know what I'd do without you". You said your goodbyes and apologized for waking her up then you hung up
"Great friend. Mine would've told me to push you out of the car and take the next flight back to New York" Stefan said once the call ended
You laughed and glanced at him "if I had called my other friend, she would've said the same thing" you stopped at a red light then leaned back in your seat "you're not ugly by the way or short" you said quietly, your joking demeanor long gone
"I know" he replied smugly. You scoffed in disbelief and amusement, so he's definitely not one to turn down a compliment
You shook your head as you started driving again "Salvatore you're something else" you replied, hearing him release a breathy laugh in response
It's a sound you've come to like, maybe a little too much
The music was blaring and you could barely hear the story Stefan was trying to tell you. You both agreed to go to a local night club called "Mindy's", great bar service and great bathrooms to suck someone off. Stefan was leaning back in the booth across from you, his legs were spread out and he had both arms propped up behind him, he threw his head back in a deep laugh at one of his own jokes and you swear it was one of the sexiest things you ever heard
You were still kind of upset about your mother trying to set you up to get married but you tried not to think about it here. You were with Stefan and more than likely going to get fucked tonight, why ruin that with complaints? You tapped on the table "do you want another drink?" You asked Stefan as you slid out of the booth to go get yourself your fourth one of the night. He nodded and allowed his eyes to roam your body as he handed you his empty glass. Your fingers grazed his as you grabbed the cup and you felt tingles from the warmth
You walked away confidently, certain that he was staring at your ass. "Two gin and tonics please" you said with a smile once you reached the bar. The male bartender smirked at you before fixing the drinks
"Here alone?" The bartender asked, his shiny black hair was messy like he had been running his hands through it and his eyes were a striking blue "I'm Landon by the way"
You hummed and replied "with a friend" then you let yourself stare at his plump, red lips as he ran his tongue across the bottom one. "I'm Y/n", the bartender looked at you with some type of intensity in his eyes, you knew he wanted you but you just wanted to flirt. Flirting always calls for a good time
He slid you your drinks then leaned forward "I'd love to take you out sometime" he whispered "I don't see many beautiful women like you in the falls". You almost rolled your eyes, these men don't seem to see beautiful women anywhere. You grabbed the drinks, lifting your brow at an extra he slid over, saying it was "on the house"
You smiled at him and thanked him for the drinks and compliment. "Maybe you'll see me around more" you said, knowing that you'll be leaving soon and not coming back for a couple more months. After telling him that you should get going, you turned around and headed back to your booth
When you got back to the table, Stefan was looking at you with his eyes narrowed and his jaw clenched. You decided to sit next to him instead of across from him. "Got an extra!" you shouted into his ear. He smiled, tight lipped and his eyes were sharper like he was angry. You asked him what was wrong but he just shrugged and said nothing so you hummed and started swaying in your seat to the music
"I want to dance"
Stefan just looked at you and raised a brow as if questioning why but you just grabbed his hand and drug him out of the booth. "Humor me" you said, placing a hand on his chest "just one dance"
He stared into your eyes for a few minutes then he took your hand and walked onto the dance floor. He spun you around, pressing your back to his chest "hm, I think someone else was expecting a dance too" he whispered, his warm breath fanning across your neck. Your breath hitched as he pulled you closer, sliding his left hand down your left arm to intertwine your fingers
He was jealous. You realized it in the way he held you possessively and the way he chose a spot right where the bartender could see you guys. It's not everyday you find a man as sexy as Stefan that wants you so badly so you caught yourself from smiling and decided not to comment on his jealousy
Instead you pushed your hips back as he placed his other hand on your waist to guide your movements. You could feel his heart beating rapidly on your back and you reveled in the feeling, you were making him feel like this. Eventually you were grinding up against him faster and harder and you could feel his breath picking up from the constant friction. You put your head back on his shoulder and closed your eyes, pulling your bottom lip between your teeth when he started to leave feather light kisses down your neck. "Mm" you hummed as arousal swirled in the pits of your stomach, you needed to fuck him now
"I want you” Stefan confessed, low and deep in your ear, his lips grazing your earlobe. “I would fuck you so well” he added, nipping the lobe of your ear afterward
You let out a little gasp when Stefan released your entwined fingers then spun you to face him. You were drunk off both pleasure and alcohol, a dangerous combination. Stefan then kissed you, so deeply and passionately that your knees almost buckled from the feeling. His lips were softer and warmer then you could have ever imagined, not that you had much time to imagine since you just met him not too long ago
You panted as he pulled back just a little "show me then please" you begged. You weren't even going to resort to begging at first but every time he touched you a fire ignited throughout your whole body and the only way to put it out is to feel him inside of you
“Begging already?” Stefan said, his lips still against yours
You whimpered and closed your eyes as he kissed you again. You needed Stefan and it's now or never but before you could tell him to take you to the bathrooms, he was already letting go
“Come on then” he teased in a low voice, sending a shiver down your spine. His hands trailed lightly down your back, just a teasing touch, before he gripped your ass. Then the touch was gone and his warmth was gone. You opened your eyes to see Stefan walking toward the bathrooms, he walked with his head held high and the crowd parted for him like the red sea
Before you knew it you were booking it to the bathrooms. As soon as you opened the door, you were pulled in and pushed against it. Stefan locked it then connected his lips with yours hungrily. You melted into his touch, enjoying the softness of his lips and the taste of alcohol on his tongue as he licked into your mouth. Stefan slid his hands under your shirt to squeeze your waist and the touch sent a lick of heat through your stomach. You pulled back and scanned his body
"Let me suck your dick" it was a demand but a question at the same time
He nodded with a groan "yeah okay". Stefan switched spots so his back was against the door and you were in front of him then he unbuckled his belt and pulled his pants down enough to get his dick out. Your eyes widened, you almost wanted to slap him for having such a perfect dick – it was long, thick and his pretty red tip was already dripping with pre-cum
You quickly sunk down to your knees and stuck your tongue out, licking a broad stripe along the vein on his cock. Stefan released a drawn out moan, letting the back of his head hit the door with a thud. "Fuck" he cursed under his breath as you started to suck on the tip. He put a hand in your hair, not pushing your head but just keeping it there
This turned you on though, you wanted him to grip your hair and fuck his cock down your throat. And you let him know that by sinking down as far as you can, then looking up at him with tears pricking your eyes. His grip in your hair tightened and his breathing picked up. "Okay shit, I get it" he said, smiling down at you and boy was his smile beautiful. "Tap my thigh whenever you want me to stop" he added before pulling his cock out to rub his tip on your lips
When you opened your mouth he took that opportunity to slide in, slowly, just until he hit the back of your throat then he pulled back again and slammed in harder. Your eyes watered but you just breathed through your nose, you wanted this. "So good baby" he breathed as he looked down at you with half lidded eyes. The praise make your pussy clench around nothing, wanting him to fill you up
Stefan gently fisted your hair with both hands as he began to thrust, moving your head along with him. "Those pretty lips were meant to be stretched around my cock" he said as he started thrusting faster, moans getting louder. You're sure anybody who was waiting for the restroom could hear him but that made it even hotter
Drool and tears ran down your face as Stefan brutally hit the back of your throat with each thrust, you closed your eyes and thanked the universe for not giving you a gag reflex. You moaned around his length, hearing him let out a curse from the vibrations just like you thought he would. You continued to look up at him as he stared down at you, he was breathtaking. His forehead glistened with sweat and his tongue swiped across his bottom lip every few seconds. He smiled at you in between a moan and it was the sexiest thing you had ever seen
Soon his thrusts were faltering and his cock was twitching against your tongue with the need to release. "Fuck- I'm gonna cum" he moaned as he put his head back and squeezed his eyes shut. His grip in your hair tightened as he thrusted one more time, stilling with a loud groan as he came hot and salty down your throat. You swallowed it all quickly then sucked on his tip a little more until he was pulling you off from over stimulation
"You're a fucking dream" he breathed out, his eyes following you as you stood back up and wiped your mouth with the back of your hand
"So I've been told" you replied with a laugh as you turned around to walk to the sink to wash your face and fix your hair
After Stefan tucked himself back in and buckled his belt back up he walked up behind you, wrapping his arms around your waist. "I don't have condoms on me" he mumbled as he kissed your ear. You tried not to pout in disappointment. You were really hoping to get fucked tonight but you were fine with it, you didn't care much
"It's fine I don't need anything in re-"
"But I have my own place a few blocks away" he interrupted with a face as if he was trying not to laugh and coo at you. That was all he had to say before you were grabbing his arm and unlocking the bathroom door. Of course you cared, you wanted Stefan and he didn't seem like the blowjob and go type of guy anyway. You didn't care about the people staring at the both of you as you flung the door open and walked out
You and Stefan walked to the car in silence because if either of you spoke you'd probably just say fuck it and have the nastiest sex on your backseat. Electricity was buzzing through your veins and you were already wet from earlier, you know he could fuck you good and you're ready to be pinned down and fucked rough
Stefan had already typed his address into your phone's GPS so in just a few minutes you were pulling up a huge driveway. Your eyes widened as something akin to a mansion came into view. His house was fucking huge, there is no way he lives here alone and of course you talked first and asked that very question. "You live here? Alone?" You asked your car came to a halt by the entrance
He shook his head and replied "not alone". You raised a brow and asked with who and he told you that he has a three year old puppy named Rose that he keeps with him every time he visits Mystic Falls, giving the puppy to his parents whenever he isn't here. For some reason you felt a sense of relief at the confirmation of nobody else living there but you ignored it because what would you be relieved for?
When you walked in the house you didn't even have time to process how big and beautiful it was inside before Stefan was grabbing your waist and smashing ypur lips together. You yelped as he picked you up and you quickly wrapped your legs around his waist. "You're so fucking sexy" he said in between nips on your bottom lip. He carried you up a flight of stairs with his lips still connected to yours, not pulling away until he threw you on a big bed in a bedroom way too big for one person. You sat still and looked around as Stefan went to go grab condoms out of his dresser
The room was huge but very bland like something you'd imagine a guest room to look like but you knew it was his room because of the single picture of him accompanied by a tall man with black hair that sat on his dresser. You wanted to ask questions but you didn't want to pry too much
Soon Stefan came back with three condoms, you lifted a brow and giggled. "Three? Are you trying to kill me?" You asked in faux disbelief. You can handle three rounds but you aren't sure if he can, not with you
He laughed lowly while moving to hover over you. "Just hoping you can keep up" he said before pressing his lips against yours, you wrapped your arms around his neck and wrapped your legs around his waist as you pulled him closer and kissed him back harder. You could kiss Stefan forever, it was like your lips were made to be on his
You both grinded against each other before Stefan pulled back to start kissing down your neck. "Tell me what you like" he said as he nipped a sensitive part on your neck "I'm open to anything" he continued, detaching his lips from your neck so he could pull your shirt off, you complied by lifting your arms
"Mm" you moaned as he kissed around your breasts, you indeed wore no bra. Your breasts are big but not too big so you were able to pass without a bra sometimes. "I like rough but not too rough, I don't want to bleed. I like to be choked and please don't hesitate to leave marks, it turns me on". You placed a hand on the back of his head as he started sucking on one of your hard nipples. "If you're too silent I might get up and leave in the middle of it" you laughed when Stefan softly bit your nipple trying to hold back a laugh. "I'm serious, be vocal, I like to hear how good you feel" you said, looking down in time to see Stefan wink at you
"Of course I'll be vocal baby" he mumbled against your skin as he was switching to the other nipple. You shuddered at the pet name again and closed your eyes thinking of more things to tell him
"If I say pineapple that means stop"
Stefan released your nipple with a pop "you better pineapple the shit out of me if you feel any bit of discomfort, got it?" He said with a small smile. You replied with a simple yes before helping him pull his shirt off
This man was carved by angels then double checked by the Greek Gods, you've never seen abs so chiseled and defined. Your mouth hung open as you shamelessly swept his torso with your eyes. Is it weird to say someone has pretty nipples? It probably is but that didn't stop you. "You're nipples are so pretty" you blurted, mentally face palming yourself once you said it
"Thanks" Stefan smiled then pinched one of your nipples "so are yours"
"Just fuck me already" you huffed with a playful roll of your eyes
Stefan kissed you again as he pulled your pants and panties off, quickly pulling his pants and boxers off as well. He stared open mouthed at your pussy and you were about two seconds away from covering up before he began to run his fingers along your glistening folds. He spread you open with two fingers "fuck you're so wet" he removed his fingers and brought them to your lips, you willingly opened your mouth to taste yourself like he wanted you to
He watched you with a hungry look in his eyes which spurred you on more. As much as you wanted to get fucked, you loved the foreplay, you know your orgasm is going to be so much more intense when he does get around to fucking you. You dragged your tongue in between his two fingers and you sucked hard, reminding him of the blowjob you gave him back at the club. "Shit" he whispered, voice heavy with arousal. You released his fingers then watched him move down so his head could be between your thighs
"Gonna taste you first" he said then he stuffed his face into your pussy
You arched up and released a sigh when he licked a stripe up your core and to your clit. He wrapped his lips around it, sucking hard as you grabbed the sheets on either side of your head and squeezed your eyes shut. It felt so good and you wanted so badly to hump his face. "So good Stefan" you whined when he swirled his tongue around your clit then moved to push his tongue through your pulsating hole, using his thumb to rub your clit
It was messy, you were so wet for him and you could hear the way he slurps on your pussy, it pushed you closer and closer to the edge. He pushed two fingers into your hole at once and it felt so good with just a small sting. He hooked his fingers, hitting your g-spot right away. "Right there" you whined breathily, pushing back on his fingers
He was so good at this, knew exactly what to do with his fingers and mouth. But you needed more, you wanted to cum on his cock. You tapped his head "fuck me" you looked at him through half lidded eyes and squeezed your own nipples "I want you so bad" you said, moaning softly when his pressed a kiss to your core
Stefan nodded and quickly sat up on his knees and opened one of the condoms. You watched as he rolled it on then pumped himself a few times. It was hot, he was hot. "Relax for me, okay?" Stefan whispered, rubbing circles into your thighs as he lined himself up with your hole. A quiet moan left you as he pushed in excruciatingly slow, his eyes stuck on where you two are now connected. He rests his hand down on your mound, thumb rubbing small circles into your clit as he rocked his hips into yours
"Shit" Stefan muttered softly to himself. He hadn't really set a pace yet, just lazily rolling his hips and enjoying the feel of your warm, wet pussy squeezing him so tightly. "Fuck you feel so good" he grunted out as he began to speed up his thrusts, fucking into you so hard that his neighbors could probably hear the slap of skin against skin
Stefan slid his hand up your torso to squeeze one of your breasts, rolling your nipple between his thumb and pointer finger. "Oh my God" your eyes rolled into the back of your head, his cock hit your g-spot with each thrust inside of you. You gripped his sheets to keep yourself from sinking your nails into his biceps. "Deeper please Stefan" you whined, not knowing how he could get any deeper but you need him to try
"Ride me" is what he replied "if you want it, then ride me" he challengingly quirked a brow and smirked. He was obviously teasing you but with no hesitation you put your hands on his shoulders and pushed him back, allowing his cock to slide out of you so you can hover above him
"You're so fucking sexy" He whispered as you positioned yourself above his cock and sunk down, he was just in you but the stretch was still there, it was a dull pain. His fingers dug into your sides harshly, hard enough to leave bruises and you'd smile about it if you weren't trying to fit his cock in you
You circled your hips a few times before lifting yourself up and slamming back down. You set the pace and made the movements quick and harsh. Stefan slid his hands down to your ass, helping you bounce up and down on him. "You ride me so well" Stefan groaned, eyebrows furrowing out of pleasure
You couldn’t help but clench around him from the endless praise, the action causing him to buck his hips as he moaned “yeah, just like that”. One particular swivel of your hips had you both groan in unison as you worked his cock to find your sweet spot. You locked into the feeling desperate to find it by grinding his cock deeper because it was right there, making your eyes roll backwards into your head. "Oh F-" you shuddered as you found the spot you were looking for
Stefan looked at you with eyes fogged with pure lust. There was no way he could close his eyes when you moved like that above him. He lifted his hips up to meet yours and although you weren't planning on cumming so quickly, that pushed so far over the edge, you couldn't even see straight as your orgasm knocked the breath out of you. Your vision was blurred, the dull ringing in your ears made your head pound and your body convulsed embarrassingly on top of Stefan
Your pussy fluttered violently around his cock, gripping onto it in a way that made Stefan's body shiver from pure pleasure. He’s moaning loudly, no longer being able to hold back. He brought a hand up to wrap around your throat as he planted his feet on the bed, sat up slightly and started fucking up so hard into you that you damn near saw stars
Both of you were sweating heavily and your skin was burning hot by now but you didn't want to stop, no matter how far you were pushed into oversensitivity
You could tell he was close when you felt him twitch inside of you so you used all of your energy to circle your hips to meet his thrust. "Fuck y/n" was the last thing you heard being whispered near your ear as he spilled inside of you, collapsing on top of you but not entirely as to not crush you
You both layed there for a few minutes breathing heavily. You tapped Stefan's shoulder to tell him to get off of you. With a sigh he pulled out of you and flopped onto your side, pulling off the condom and tying it up. "You're really a dream" he chuckled softly as he threw the condom into a small garbage bin by his bed
"So you've said" you looked at him and smiled. The silence was comfortable, just both of you basking in your post orgasm glow and waiting for your breathing to calm down. Suddenly your phone rang loudly, you sat up quick and felt around for it, picking your pants up off the floor and pulling it out of the back pocket
It was your mom calling, you looked at Stefan with wide eyes and put a finger over your lips. "Hello?" You stood up and paced the room, not bothering to even put your undergarments back on
"Y/n, where are you? It's almost one in the morning"
You bit back the scoff you so badly wanted to release "I'm with Stefan mom. Did you forget that you sent me off to get married to your boss's son?"
She sighed heavily, you could picture her leaning against the counter, rubbing her temples. "But that doesn't mean stay out all night doing God knows what! You still stay under my roof while you're here"
This time you did scoff, rolling your eyes as well "mom excuse my language but what the fuck?" You shook your head as Stefan looked over at you in concern "you begged me to leave the house with a random guy in hopes of me getting married so you can relive that through me, you don't get to lecture me when I don't come home for a couple of hours"
"Now Y/n watch-"
She tried to speak but you just needed to let this out so you interrupted her. "He could've been a serial killer or a kidnapper and if anything had gone left you wouldn't even be hearing my voice right now" you felt your eyes sting with tears, trying as best as you could to blink them back before they could fall "you're lucky that I'm with someone who actually makes me feel a bit safe. I'm not coming home tonight and I'll be packing tomorrow and going back to New York. I love you but I don't love the constant nagging about my love life, you don't respect me or my wishes mom. I'm sick of it" you tried to catch a tear before it slipped but it was too late "get some sleep okay? Goodnight, I love you" you hung up the phone and just stood there, butt naked and facing the wall with tears silently rolling down your face
You wiped your face and took breaths before turning around "uh, I'm gonna go" you walked to the bed and started putting your clothes back on and Stefan just watched. You didn't know if he wanted to say something or if he just didn't care but either way you just wanted to go. As you were putting your shirt on that's when Stefan got up, quickly going to his closet to rummage through a whole bunch of clothes. He pulled out a pair of black gym shorts and a white sleeveless t-shirt
"It's not much but if you uh, want you can take a shower here and stay here for tonight" he scratched the back of his head with one hand while he held out the clothes with the other, it even looked like he was blushing a little, you couldn't help but crack a small smile
You bit your lip to try to hold the smile back "are you sure? I don't want to impose or anything" you said while grabbing the clothes from him
"You're not imposing" he walked up to you and lifted your chin up with his fingers "don't let your mom force you to do anything you don't want to do" the look in his eye made you want to obey every word he said so you nodded your head. He searched your face "I'm serious y/n. I love my mom but if I had allowed her to force me into marriage I wouldn't be who I am today, doing what I love. You're a beautiful woman with a lot going for you, if marriage isn't what you want then don't do it"
Without really thinking about it you pulled him in for a kiss. Both of you were still naked but it wasn't a sex hungry, heat filled kiss, it was passionate and slow and it made butterflies flutter in your belly, you've never felt that before. You pulled away with a big, dopey smile on your face "I won't do anything I don't want to do" you whispered, biting your lip to conceal yet another smile
"So you wanted to kiss me like that?" He teased with a huge smile on his face. You turned away from him and began walking to the bathroom, answering his question by looking over your shoulder and inviting him in with a tilt of your head
"Come shower with me and I'll let you know what I really want"
He laughed loudly and you couldn't help but join in, it was so contagious. "Oh you crazy crazy girl" he said as he followed behind you, ready for whatever you had to offer him
Maybe you don't plan on getting married anytime soon or dating to be honest but Stefan has become a constant in your life and you'd like to keep it that way and when the time comes when you both want to settle down, it wouldn't be too bad if it was with him

Can you use prompt 56. “Just marry me already “ and 97. “If you interrupt me one more time - so help me god” with Steve Harrington x Henderson!reader with Steve proposing at a inopportune time?
hiii! i did this as a smaller blurb, hope that’s okay! it’s just under 1k words and it’s cute and fluffy i hope u like it <3
Family dinners were always hectic, especially when yours just so happened to be the Hendersons. Your brother Dustin would nag you with no end, and your mom would be fussing over everyone.
Usually, it’d just be the three of you at the dinner table, but ever since you started dating Steve, there would be a fourth spot set and filled. Dustin loved him, of course, and was over the moon when you told him the two of you were together. Your mom found Steve charming and she laughed at every joke he threw her way. You’d watch the interactions with a smile on your face, happy that Steve was so welcome and comfortable with your family.
As the years went by, you and Steve eventually moved in together, finding a small but cozy apartment that was still close to your family. It was home, because it was with Steve. It was pictures in frames and your favorite blanket thrown over the back of the couch.
Today, you and Steve were hosting dinner for your family, deciding to relieve your mother of cooking for a night and finally letting Dustin—who was growing up way too fast for your liking—come visit like he always asked. Considering you weren’t together all the time anymore, you thought it would be nice to spend an evening with the people you were closest to.
Steve loved your family, because they were his, too. He was closer with them than he was with his own parents, having grown sick of their absence and high expectations. You were the love of his life, and you welcomed him with open arms at every given chance.
The two of you stood together in your kitchen preparing dinner, arms brushing every so often and small smiles shared when you’d lock eyes. You never got enough of these moments, domestic and sweet, a glimpse of what forever would look like with Steve.
He bought a ring ages ago, it sat heavy in his drawer and in his mind every day. He knew he wanted to marry you, and he wasn’t worried that you’d say no, he just wanted it to be perfect.
“Baby, could you hand me the salt?”
You snapped him out of his thoughts, and he nodded, passing you what you’d asked for and giving himself a mental shake to get out of his head.
“Here you go. You excited?”
“Yeah, actually. Haven’t really had a dinner with them since the holidays.”
“Mhm. I love those guys. And I love you.”
He gave you a little tap on the nose, which you scrunched in return, laughing and grinning all giddy. Nothing has changed between the two of you, you only continued to grow together, and you loved that you felt just a strongly for him as you did years ago.
“We all love you too, Steve. You know you’re a part of this family. That’s not gonna change anytime soon.”
“Just marry me already.”
He didn’t mean to let it slip out, but it did. He loved you so much and he didn’t want to wait any longer to ask you for forever. His and yours, spent alongside each other. But, he really did want to ask you properly and this is not what he had planned. Hands messy from your cooking, still in your rumpled clothes from the day.
“What?”
“So. I have a ring and I’ve had it for, like, ever but I never knew when to ask you and I guess now is as good a time as ever so-”
He quickly wiped off his hands on a small towel, then ran to your shared room to grab said ring and came back to you standing in the same spot. This is not how you expected the night to go, but you can’t say you’re upset about it.
“Steve, oh my god. What?”
“Look, it’s not huge but it’s pretty and I love you and-”
“Baby. It’s perfect.”
“That’s great, now please stop interrupting me.”
He sank down slowly on one knee, still watching your face closely and he could see the tears that gathered in your eyes, almost spilling. He could also see your smile, happy and surprised.
“Ever since I’ve known you I’ve wanted to be with you, every second of every day. Like, I miss you when you’re not around and all that shit. You know I love you, and I know you love me, so this is me asking if you maybe wanted to love me forever? Will you marry me?”
The tears you were trying to hold back were falling now, a laugh escaping you because this was so perfect, even if Steve didn’t think so, it was. The impromptu proposal was private, it was messy, but it was exactly what you wanted. Just you, and Steve, in your cute little apartment.
“Yes, of course. Get up here.”
He placed the ring on your finger, getting back to his feet and kissing you with his hands on your cheeks. You grasped his wrists, kissing him back and tasting the saltiness of your happy tears in the midst of it. It was broken by smiles, teeth clinking, but it was the promise of forever and more and that’s what mattered.
The doorbell ringing broke you and Steve apart, and you remembered the guests you were expecting, Steve looking at you with that boyish grin saying, “guess we have some news to share, huh?”

—--⋆⋆☆⋆⋆—--
Your brother can barely stay awake nowadays. And for that reason, you visit him everyday, bringing with you stories about your day and sharing the little adventures you and Ricky have. You know what’s coming, in fact, everyone in the palace does. All hope seems to have gone as the days go by without any semblance of improvement on the Crown Prince Hanbin’s health. And while you try to mentally prepare for the loss of your brother, you don’t want to.
“Sister, are you going to keep bothering me everyday like this?” Even in his condition, Hanbin finds a way to make light of the situation. You smile, just to humor him and decide to banter back.
“In all honesty brother, it’s you that’s a nuisance. Please get better so I no longer have to deal with your astronomical amounts of paperwork”. This time, he’s the one that smiles, somberly. “How is that, by the way? Preparing to rule?” while the conversation had gotten more serious, you don’t blame him for asking. He knows his time will come to an end soon.
“I’m terrified everyday...I’m…I’m not as great as you are, brother. I’m severely underprepared and extremely overwhelmed. And the only good thing in my life right now, well, I don’t even know if he’ll stay. He too, has a kingdom to look after.”
You drop your head down to his bed, letting choked sobs out. You’ve never said these things out loud to anyone. On a personal note, you are not even aware of what is more terrifying – ruling the country unprepared, losing your brother, never getting the chance to love Ricky. You suppose you’re crying about all three.
Hanbin feels terrible at the sight of his youngest sister. You’re right next to him, but he doesn’t even have the energy to sit up and wipe your tears away.  “I’m sorry, Y/N….” is all he can say. He too, lets a few tears roll past his eyes.
After a few minutes of quiet sobs, you take his hands in yours to say “It’s not your fault Hanbin. I’ll make you proud, I promise.” You notice the tears that have stained his velvet pillow, and bring up a handkerchief to wipe away at the remaining streaks on his face. The last thing he says to you is “I never doubted you for a moment, sister. You’ll achieve great things as Astoria’s Queen.”
With the confidence that your brother instills in you, you decide that it’s time to let Ricky know the truth. Your new duty is to be a proud leader of your country – to make Hanbin proud, to continue the line of succession of your parents, and to be a Queen to the people. You plan to tell him all of that tomorrow.
—--⋆⋆☆⋆⋆—--
Your plan fails, because Hanbin summoned crown prince Quanrui to visit his chambers that evening. Ricky crosses paths with the King and Queen as they exit Hanbin’s chambers. The crown prince of Solaria bows respectfully, and the Queen of Astoria gently places her hands on his shoulders.
“Don’t be too alarmed with his state. Right now, treat him as you would normally do – he needs a friend.” Ricky is confused by the Queen’s statement, but nods anyway.
Despite the warning, Prince Quanrui gets the shock of his life when he first sees Hanbin. While his family may be used to his symptoms, others might not be. He is much smaller now with graying skin. His hair sticks to his forehead from the layer of sweat that covers his body. He also coughs out blood every now and then, and his voice is so small and hoarse, it’s hard to listen to.
“Ah, my dear friend. Come sit.” Hanbin chokes out.
Ricky doesn’t know what to say, as all this time he had thought Hanbin had been on an expedition or managing diplomatic affairs in other countries. He had no idea his dear friend had been in the castle, slowly rotting away. To be fair, it was a well kept secret.
“Why was I not informed, Hanbin? Did you nor Y/N not care to tell me?” Ricky is trying not to sound too betrayed. Not when Hanbin is looking at him apologetically. “No one knows about my sickness, only my family and the royal staff. And I wanted to keep it that way for a while…” Hanbin trails off as he welcomes a fit of coughs.
“Ricky, the truth is I’m not going to get any better. This is the end of the line for me.” Ricky is studying his friend’s face and he finds no hint of sadness, rather, acceptance of his fate. Ricky doesn't know how to react to that statement. So, he places his hands against his mouth, contemplating on what to tell Hanbin.
“It’s a lot to take in, I know. But, I need to ask you one last thing before I am unable to” more coughs erupt from Hanbin, and Ricky patiently waits for him to speak again. “It’s about Y/N…she’s so terrified, Ricky. Will you take care of her when I’m gone?”
On the outside, it’s a simple question. For royals however, it brings about a million implications. What Hanbin really wants to ask is Will you stay with her here once I am gone? Will you give up being the King of Solaria for Y/N? Will you continue to promise to love her until the end of time?
“Wherever she may be, I will be standing right next to her. Always.”
With that response, Hanbin nods in satisfaction. Both Hanbin and Ricky remember a time when they were young boys, sparring in the courtyard. One of their many wagers had been your hand in marriage. If Ricky could beat Hanbin, he’d let him marry his sister. When that was on the line, Ricky had never lost to Hanbin, not even once.
“I’m grateful to have known you, Ricky. Take care, my friend.” Hanbin musters up all his energy to reach out his hand for Ricky to take in a handshake. And although it is out of character for Ricky, he puts Hanbin’s arm down and instead envelopes him in a hug.
“I’ll miss you, dear friend. Save me a sparring session up there, maybe you’ll be able to beat me by then.” Hanbin and Ricky laugh.
That night, as Ricky leaves Hanbin’s chambers, he understands why you desperately kept asking him to wait for you. Why you cling to him like it’s the last time you are able to. And why it seems like you love him back, but cannot seem to verbalize it in any way.
—--⋆⋆☆⋆⋆—--
The next time your family is complete is during the funeral of the late prince Hanbin. Though you wouldn’t consider your family to be complete ever again, not with the loss of your brother. The palace was opened to the public, and it seemed like the whole kingdom was in attendance. The service was beautiful. Your sister and royal knight Jiwoong even traveled back to Astoria. And despite all that has happened, you enveloped each other in a hug the moment you saw each other. You both cried for what seemed like days.
Naturally, the whole kingdom mourns. The palace is extremely somber, and the nights feel longer and colder. A lot of Astoria folk find themselves gazing up at the newly formed constellation – a discovery you made the night your brother died. You named the stars after him, of course.
You’re at the observatory with Ricky again as you go through old portraits of your families together. You laugh at the stiff royal paintings that feature all the Astoria and Solaria children. You share childhood memories of Hanbin together, and exchange kind words about him. In the end, you are grateful to have been his younger sister – to have learned what it meant to be a leader directly from growing up with him.
You do not want to have this type of conversation with Ricky, but you feel that it is the responsible thing to do. As rulers of your own respective kingdoms.
“I fear I’ll never measure up to him” you admit. “I’m more than terrified, I fear I’ll be a disappointment to my people, my family, to him” your voice is shaking, and you close the trunk that’s filled with portraits and childhood memories.
“Y/N listen..” Ricky takes both your hands in his, forcing you to look him in the eye. “You are the most intelligent and passionate person I know. You are selfless, kind, and beautiful inside and out. The people of Astoria do not know you the way I do, not yet at least. Let them see you for who you are, and everything will come into place. I am sure you will rule greatly, I’m confident that you will.”
Ricky smiles mischievously before he adds “and again, your only flaw is that you are terribly unfunny.” you smile, you will miss his candor when he returns home. “And if it’s any consolation, I’m here. You can always rely on me.”
Your brows furrow, and you remove your hands from his when you say “but that is the issue, Ricky. You cannot be here forever. You are bound to return to Solaria eventually, I am positive that your family has been missing their crown prince”
Prince Quanrui has been away from home for almost 9 months. You are unaware of this passage of time, having been busy with your crown princess education and the loss of your brother. And in between all the responsibilities and chaos, you cannot count the amount of times you found solace in the warm embrace and soft kisses of Prince Quanrui.
“I do not need to return to Solaria, only if you command me to do so, my Y/N”. He smiles, and you cannot tell if he is being serious.
“Ricky, you do realize that I cannot command you to do anything as we are of the same royal stature, we’re equals now as in line to the throne, remember?”
“And that is where you are severely mistaken.” Your lips pout in confusion, and you look at him expecting an explanation “I’ve long withdrawn my eligibility to the crown in Solaria. Prince Gyuvin is the crown prince now.
Your younger half brother? you thought. “B-but why? And do not say something foolish, do not say it is because you love me”
“But that is my answer.”
“You love me enough to abandon your kingdom? Your people, your subjects, your family. Ricky you’ve been trained your whole life to rule Solaria – and you’re going to just leave? Just like that?” You honestly do not know what kind of answer you are searching for. Perhaps it is validation you seek, that someone is capable of loving you so greatly to put you first.
“I would abandon all duty for you.”
Oh. You think. Love, so it is capable of being that easy.
You are so emotionally moved by this declaration. How easy it is for Ricky to just choose love above all things. How Ricky patiently waited for you, just like you asked. How he didn’t ask any questions when you told him you would be next in line for the throne. How that would mean that he cannot marry you and make you his queen in Solaria. How he would rather withdraw his position just to be closer to you, here, in Astoria. How that is exactly what he did, as he wrote his letter to the King and Queen of Solaria shortly after his last conversation with Hanbin.
“Y/N, you and I both know my heart has always been here with you in Astoria anyway.”
You move closer to him and desperately envelope him in a tight embrace. Your arms are wrapped around his neck, like the very first night he kissed you. He’s a little taken aback, but reciprocates almost immediately. Your touch evokes more words that you could ever utter – feelings of love, gratefulness, relief, above all, happiness.
When Ricky kissed you that night, you understood that this was exactly how it was meant to be all along. As if the very act of loving you is his duty itself.
—--⋆⋆☆⋆⋆—--
The royal wedding of the Crown Princess of Astoria happens a year after Hanbin’s death. Prince Ricky, who will soon gain the title of Royal Prince of Astoria, stands proudly in the garden of stars. Like you, he’s dressed in all white. Your wedding ceremony is fully decorated with red roses, personally delivered by the King and Queen of Solaria.
As you walk down the aisle, your long jeweled dress flows against the gentle breeze of the night sky. Ricky is smiling, the biggest you’ve ever seen – even as he is under a plethora of constellations, he thinks you’re the most beautiful star tonight.
His parents, the King and Queen of Solaria, watch him as he looks at you. And his mother gives his son a genuine smile in return, before whispering something to her husband (if i’m not mistaken, along the lines of ‘he’s happy here’). Meanwhile, the crown prince Gyuvin snickers and tries to hold back his laughter at how lovesick his brother looks.
Your sister sits proudly in the second row with King Hao of Mariposa by her side. She gives you a small wave, smiling brightly. Next to her, Hao is clapping, nodding gently towards you. Your sister reaches out to give a supportive squeeze to his shoulder, and he takes her hand in his. Throughout the ceremony, your sister and King Hao hold hands. He doesn’t feel pain anymore. Knight Jiwoong is also close by, watching over little Yujin and Yeseo. But sometimes, he cannot help but glance at the way his Queen and the King of Mariposa intertwine fingers.
Your father hands you off to walk on your own. And as he takes his seat next to your mother, they smile at each other. Your mother takes his hand in hers comfortingly, as tears threaten to spill from both their eyes.
When you reach him at the end of the aisle, he takes your hand, ungloves it, and presses a kiss. Everything feels right as you share your first kiss as a married pair. You have no coherent thoughts as he presses his warm lips against yours, the same passion and electricity pulses through you as he kisses you deeper. He cuts it short, out of respect for the audience, and you giggle a little when he whispers “more of that later”
—--⋆⋆☆⋆⋆—--
After the wedding ceremony and the consummation of your marriage – you and Ricky find yourselves lying peacefully in bed. The moonlight enters your bedchamber and lands beautifully on his platinum hair. You watch as Ricky’s bare chest rises and falls, his breathing steady – a sure indicator that he has fallen into deep slumber. So you inch yourself closer to him, caressing his cheek with the back of your hand oh so delicately.
But he isn’t exactly asleep, and in response, he pulls you towards him even more. Your face is safely tucked into his chest, his arm is draped around your waist, and your legs have since intertwined into a tangled mess.
“Thank you for waiting for me. I love you.” You whisper. You mean it.
He hums, opening his eyes to check on you. This time, your eyes are closed as you settle in a comfortable position, nuzzled into him. He pats through your hair softly, before turning to the side to look at the window where Hanbin’s constellation shines brightly.
Then, he thanks the stars for the existence of his Y/N.

Heya! Can I pleaseee get a Balde one where he comes to visit you unexpectedly in your uni dorm or flat and you have to try your best to hide him 🥲🫶
Summary: “When I dialed 6-1-1, Repair Service
She said, "Hello, may I help you please?"
I told her something must be wrong with my phone
'Cause my baby wouldn't hang up on me”
You’ve been caught up with preparations for your exams and you’ve put your phone on DND. You told your parents but you forgot to tell a certain someone.
A/N: Thank you for the requests! More Balde is on the way !!! This one's also about 2,300 words which is more than I've written for the others so enjoy!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was nearing midnight and your dorm room was shrouded in the dim glow of a desk lamp. The air was a mix of the vanilla-scented candle you'd lit (because who said studying couldn't have a hint of vanilla-scented goodness?), the heavy weight of late-night cramming that threatened to make you fall asleep, and the unmistakable anxiety that hung thick around these times. You were buried in textbooks and notes, fully immersed in the world of exam preparation; it was like a battlefield, and each page you turned was a strategic move. Your desk was a war room, scattered with the casualties of highlighters and sticky notes. With a crucial test looming on the horizon, you had put your phone on "Do Not Disturb" mode all day in hopes of getting all your work done and fully being prepared for your upcoming finals. With your notifications silenced, the only sounds that reverberated through your dorm were the rustling of papers and the occasionally frustrated sigh that came from the depths of your soul and empty stomach.
You had made sure to inform your parents about your temporary digital escape, not wanting them to worry and assume something bad had happened–knowing them. Thoughts of a time when they'd practically filed a missing person report because you forgot to text back for a few hours came to the surface causing a soft smile to grace your features. You were glad you had people who worried about you. Speaking of people who worried about you, you had kinda forgotten to clue in a certain someone—Alejandro, your boyfriend. With a big game on the horizon for the star football player, the anticipation was probably cranking up his stress levels so you decided it best to let him be fully focused anyway. He’ll forgive you. You chuckled at the mental image of him panicking after receiving a missing person report from your parents after you two had spent the whole day together laughing and catching up.
As the clock ticked past midnight, you were in the trenches; engrossed in your notes, oblivious to the multiple missed calls and messages from Alejandro.
Outside your door, there was a soft melody that was almost like a distant echo, barely audible at first but gradually growing louder with each passing second. The muffled thumping of heavy bass reached your ears, accompanied by a tantalizing melody that teased the edges of your memory. You definitely knew the song, but it was so muffled that you couldn’t quite catch the words. It was the kind of tune that, under normal circumstances, would have lured you out to join the invisible party or belt out whatever lyrics were being played in the hallway.
However, irritation crawled under your skin as the music continued to infiltrate your room. At first, you tried to brush it off, but the irritation morphed into a gnawing frustration, and you felt an almost growing urge to do something about it. The fantasy of storming out into the hallway to confront the culprit played out in your mind. You imagined yourself going out there and asking if they were “out of their damn mind” and to “turn that noise down” or maybe taking the polite route and requesting to turn it down, which would be a remarkable level of self-control. Or maybe doing a little bit of both.
With a sigh and a reluctant shake of your head, you decided that enough was enough. It was time to restore the peace. Taking a deep breath, you steeled yourself for the confrontation ahead. Whether through a polite request or a no-nonsense intervention, you were not going to fail this test because you were too busy turning up to your dorm neighbor’s music.
You swung the door open, ready to give a piece of your mind, only to be met with the sight of Alejandro, a mischievous grin on his face, holding a portable speaker playing the soulful tune. Confusion flickered across your face, but before you could react, he grabbed your hand, pulled you into the hallway, and began to dance and sing.
"What in the world, Alej!? Boy, do you mind explaining why you're playing music outside my door at this ungodly hour?" you asked in a sort of hushed shout as a mix of irritation and amusement was in your tone as you crossed your hands across your frame.
He grabbed your hands again and twirled you in a spontaneous dance move, still singing, "Mr. Telephone Man, there's something wrong with my line. When I dial my baby's number, I get a click every time!"
You couldn't help but laugh at the unexpected serenade, even as your irritation lingered. "Seriously, though, what are you doing here?"
He flashed you a playful smile and continued to sing, "Mr. Telephone Man, there's something wrong with my line. When I dial my baby's number, I get a click every time!"
Your confusion deepened, and you shot him a bemused look. "Be forreal, is this some kind of weird initiation prank or...?"
With a twirl and a flourish, he sang the next line, "When I dialed 6-1-1, Repair Service
She said, "Hello, may I help you please?"
I told her something must be wrong with my phone
'Cause my baby wouldn't hang up on me!"
It finally clicks. You couldn't decide whether to be annoyed or amused. "Okay, wow. You are petty."
He finally paused his impromptu performance, looking at you with a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Just thought I'd drop by since my baby doesn’t know how to answer the phone. I thought I’d add a little musical magic to your study night and bless you with my singing skills. You know, since I’m you’re good luck charm."
“I thought I was your good luck charm,” you raised an eyebrow, caught between a sly smirk and a reluctant smile. " And I thought you had a match coming up, so I thought I’d let you focus. I didn’t want to be a bother.”
“We’re each other’s lucky charms.” He chuckled before he placed both his arms firmly on your shoulders as his face got serious, "And you’re never a bother. Don’t let me hear you say that again or you’ll hurt my feelings, man."
You couldn't help but shake your head in disbelief as you waved him off. "You could've just knocked, you know."
"But where's the fun in that?" he replied, starting to dance again. "Mr. Telephone Man, there's something wrong with my line..."
You sighed, unable to suppress a smile. "Alright, fine. You win. But let’s bring this inside. If anyone sees you making all this noise they’ll be on my head. People are trying to study."
With that, he pulled you into your dorm, the catchy tune of "Mr. Telephone Man" playing lightly and serving as a great backdrop. It was unexpected, ridiculous, and utterly Alejandro. You couldn't deny the warmth spreading through you as you joined him in the spontaneous dance, grateful for the interruption. Your initial annoyance melted away into laughter as he picked you up and twirled you around, still belting out the lyrics with an endearing off-key charm. The unexpected serenade had you in stitches, and you couldn't help but marvel at the lengths he went to surprise you.
“Oh, wait. I almost forgot.”
He put you down and darted back outside. You stood there, a mix of emotions swirling within, wondering if he was leaving. However, to your surprise, he returned moments later, holding a bouquet of your favorite flowers and a gift basket filled with snacks, comfort food, and a selection of your favorite movies.
As you peered into the gift basket, a grin spread across your face. "What's all this, babe?"
He chuckled, reaching for a snack. "Just a little something to make sure you're fueled up and relaxed for your big day. I’m also hungry though so some of these are for now."
You picked up a kisses chocolate bar and raised an eyebrow at the note attached. "Kisses for good luck?" you read aloud, a playful groan escaping your lips. "Alejandro, you're so corny."
He grinned, teasingly nudging you. "You secretly love my corniness."
You bit back a smile, holding up a Tootsie Roll with a note that read, "You'll do great, toots." "This is quite literally the corniest thing ever," you teased, groaning in affection.
He laughed, "Admit it, you love it."
You attempted to deny it with a nonchalant shrug, but the smile tugging at your lips betrayed you. "Maybe a little."
His eyes twinkled with amusement. "That smile says otherwise."
You rolled your eyes playfully, but couldn't hide the affection in your gaze. "Okay, fine. Maybe a lot."
He leaned in, planting a sweet kiss on your forehead. "That's what I thought."
The gesture left you speechless, and your eyes glistened with tears of joy. Alejandro noticed your tears and immediately grew concerned, reaching out to wipe them away. As you explained the mix of emotions that overwhelmed you, he responded with a snort, teasingly flicking your forehead and calling you a crybaby.
The music still lightly played from the speaker, and just when you thought the night couldn't get any crazier, there was a knock on the door. Your eyes quickly went over to your digital clock that read 1:30 am. Shit. A whole 30 minutes since visitation hours ended. Panic flashed across both your faces as you hastily tried to hide Alejandro. His attempts at concealment were comical at best—behind curtains, under blankets, and even suggesting he'd hide behind the door. You couldn't help but stifle a laugh at his antics.
"Hurry up, Balde! Behind the door? Seriously?" you whispered, trying to keep your voice low while conveying the urgency of the situation.
He shot you a sheepish grin, "Hey, it could work!"
You rolled your eyes, "Not a chance. Get in the closet!"
The knock persisted, and you shot a quick look at Alejandro. With a dramatic flourish, he threw himself into the closet, making you cringe at the potential noise. You shushed him with wide eyes, "Quiet! We're going to get caught."
He hushed back with an exaggerated whisper, "I'm Miles Morales, silent and stealthy."
You bit your lip to suppress a giggle. "More like Alejandro Balde. Loud as hell and clumsy. Just stay quiet!"
As you tried to rearrange the room to look somewhat normal, Alejandro couldn't resist making a joke, "If they ask, you’re going to try out for the cheer team and I was helping you practice."
You shot him a glare and pressed a hand to your lips. He returned the gesture as you closed the closet door.
The knock on the door grew more insistent, and you quickly continued to shuffle around, trying to make everything look as normal as possible. You shot one last glance at the closet, silently praying that Alejandro could keep quiet.
You quickly adjusted yourself, doing your best to look casual as you opened the door. The RA, a stern-looking figure with a perpetual fake customer service smile, squinted suspiciously.
"Everything okay in here?"
“Hey, girl. Hey.” Real smooth. You put on your best innocent smile, "Yeah, just studying and things of that nature."
She raised an eyebrow, glancing around the room. Her eyebrows lift in appreciation as she hears the music. "Ooh, I love this song. But, don’t keep the music up too loud it’s late."
You nodded, "Of course."
She squinted, looking at the closet. Panic bubbled up inside you as she took a step closer, and you desperately tried to divert her attention.
"So, how's your night going, girlll? Any exciting plans?" you asked, hoping to steer the conversation away from the closet.
She tilted her head, seemingly amused, "Just making my rounds, you know. Checking up on everyone. I caught some people trying to sneak people in past visitation hours so I had to do a sweep of the floor."
Your neck began to get hot as you played along. “Oh wow, who would do something like that.”
You tried to divert her attention, but she wasn't easily swayed. With a raised eyebrow, she approached the closet, and your heart raced. As she opened the door, you closed your eyes, readying yourself for an explanation.
To your surprise, she closed the door without a word, patting you on the shoulder and bidding you goodnight. Bewilderment washed over you as you rushed over into the closet, only to find it empty. You furrowed your brow in confusion, searching around.
“You need help finding something, ma’am.”
You turned to him, a mix of relief and confusion on your face. "How did you...?"
He winked, his voice barely above a whisper, "I can turn invisible, remember?"
You chuckled softly, rolling your eyes. "You're something else, Alejandro."
He laughed, "Well, we didn't get caught, did we? Now, I can think of something else we can be doing..."
You giggled but waved to him, "Uh Uh, none of that. These walls are super thin."
He pouted, "You're no fun."
You shot him a playful glare, "Says the guy who tried to hide behind the door."
He chuckled, "Fair point. But you have to admit, I added a bit of excitement to your study night."
You playfully rolled your eyes, "Yeah, yeah, Mr. Telephone Man. Let's just hope we don't get another surprise visit."
You spent the rest of the night watching movies, eating snacks, having fun, and cozying up next to someone you knew would always worry about you when you needed him to.

___
Your eyes are closed and your body trembling, desperately trying to hold your tears.
“Y/N,” The soft and calm woman's voice tells you. “Let’s recall the rectangular breathing. Inhale…” You inhaled through your nose for four seconds and stopped breathing for four seconds as well. “Exhale…” You exhaled slowly and then held your breath again. “Inhale…”
“Fuck it!” you swore and opened your eyes, stretching out your arm to the Parliament pack lying on the kitchen island. You were not happy with this habit but when your life went to shit you didn’t care.
This had been an awful year full of loss which unfortunately led to depression. You visited your psychiatrist regularly and this helped you to overcome a bit. At least you don’t start suddenly crying and coped to move on. Especially when your best friend, like almost your older brother, got to the hospital and there was no good news about his health condition. As an aunt (non-blood relative) of his son, you couldn’t give up just like that. But it seemed if you had a chance, you’d do it.
You lit the cigarette, inhaled, and continued pouring the coffee from Jezve to the small thermos. This was your everyday morning routine. After this ritual, you go to the park and prepare yourself mentally for the new day. Today’s situation was different, you wouldn’t go to the park, but you couldn’t prevent yourself from beginning the day normally at least partially, and for the last time.
The TV was turned on, and the host said with a trembling voice thousands of people got infected with an unknown disease and it led to chaos in several states and yours as well, many people died. Neighbors outside were screaming, children were crying. Everyone was rushing and trying to pack all their lives in their cars. You thanked God your parents weren’t here. Sounds blasphemous, but you couldn’t bear this weight upon your shoulders. When you were imagining the apocalypse while having one of your anxiety attacks, you swore yourself you would end up right at the beginning as this would be not life anymore, but dance with the death you didn’t wish to take part in.
But you are here. Fortunately staying calm (thanks to medication). You already packed your things after your friend (your ex), had called you and asked you to be prepared to move. He told you he’d come to your house and you then follow him in your car. Also, in case he succeeds in grabbing your best friend from the hospital, you can transport him as he was unconscious, and more space was needed for sure.
The man dressed in a sheriff uniform enters your house “Are you kidding? Coffee, really? What about mediation then?” he saw you looking at him with no emotion expressed on your face. He cooled down for a moment. “Have you grabbed the essentials?” you nodded in the direction of the bag laying near the door.
“Is the tank full?”
“As usual,” you mumbled “Shane” you breathed the smoke out of your lungs “Are Lori and Carl with you?”
“Sure, come on. And quit this shit, please.” he pointed at the cigarette and went outside your house.
You closed the thermos, switched off the TV, and went to your garage. In several minutes you were following Shane’s car. Carl turned back to you from Shane’s backseat car window and waved to you. You smiled and waved in response. Thanks God your last lifeline was safe and sound. You switched on the player and drove.
“Time to die
Hammer high
Name your price
And kneel
Hail the apocalypse
All flesh is equal when burnt
We are forgiven
Forgive as we never shall learn
Get down
Hail the apocalypse”
Shane turned to the highway and you nervously turned the steering wheel following him. Your eyes widened in shock. You grabbed the phone and called him.
“What’s the matter?” you screamed.
“My colleagues told me there was a shoout-out near the hospital. Need you all to get to a safer place. We’ll deal with Rick later.” You threw your phone away after the call ended. “Shit”.
The trip was short but unbearably lasting as you were always stuck in traffic jams. You can see the sun already went under. As you saw the road was blocked with cars and people fussing you turned the engine down. Shane got out of his car and went further into the crowd. After five minutes you saw him getting back approaching you.
“We need to stop here, the road is blocked. Let’s have a break and figure out what to do next.” you nodded and got out of your car. Shane went to Lori to tell the same. Carl opened the door and ran to you.
“I’m glad you are with us, Y/N.” said Carl squeezing your waist. You brushed his hair gently with your fingers and smiled in response. “Me too…”
“Carl” Lori called “Could you please come to me for a second?” Carl looked at you, smiled, and ran to his mother while she was looking at you concerned.
You switched your attention from Lori and took the Parliament pack out of your denim jacket, picked a cigarette, and realized you forgot the lighter at home. You started to look around and your sight captured the two men smoking standing near their car in front of yours. You approached them.
“Hey, could I ask for a lighter, please? I forgot mine at home”. The older grinned, sticking the tip of his tongue while observing your hips in black leggings moving his sight up and stopping at your breasts covered with the tank top of the same color as your leggings. He looked up at your eyes and sang “Come on baby, light my fire”. The younger burst out of anger and barked.
“Have ya not slept offa hangover yet, dumbass?”
“Woah, brother,” the older laughed and lowered his voice “Why are ya so tensed?” The younger started nervously biting his lips while the older’s mouth was in front of his ear. “Getting nervous because of the beautiful girl talking to ya?”
“Shut the fuck up!”
You just continued to watch a one-man show.
“Okay, won’t bother ya, my puss,” he laughed and stared at you measuring you up “My brother is such a shy guy. Please keep an eye on him while I go and let off my steam ‘cause of the hotty around” he blinked at you.
The younger looked angrily at his brother going away down to the wooded area near the road.
“What a gentleman…” you concluded.
“I’m sorry,” the younger grunted and looked at you blushing.
“Never mind, at least someone stays positive.” you smiled. The man put his hand in the pocket of his jeans and took out a light passing to you. You lit up your cigarette and inhaled. The lungs burned with pleasure while your head went a bit fainty as you haven’t eaten anything today yet. “Thanks,” you said and then went back to your car. You opened the door and took the thermos with coffee and a small tourist cup. The man was standing quietly and glared at you as if his gaze was an X-Ray that could reveal anything suspicious about you.
“Hey,” you looked at the man while pouring the coffee into the cup “What’s your name?”
“Daryl” he didn’t stop gazing with his cold blue eyes.
“Y/N. Wanna some coffee?”
“No, thanks,” he mumbled.
“Come on,” you approached him “The night will be long, you need to stay on your legs.”
He looked at you thinking the hell this bothers you. You read his thought as his expression was asking and added “Let’s consider this as the gesture of thanks as you saved my life from the lack of nicotine.” You chuckled.
“Thanks” he replied silently not stopping investigating you.
“Bring it back to me when you finish” You pointed at the cup and turned to go away to Shane as he had called you.
The man stayed confused holding the cup and looking at you while you went away.
“What a sweetie, huh? I’d spent some time with her on the backseat” Merle let Daryl know about his presence.
“Fuck off!”
Merle laughed and sang gazing at you talking to your friends “You know that it would be untrue. You know that I would be a liar…”

I've seen you mention a few times that William will be a failure as king.
Do you think it's mainly because of his ego? I've been watching him for a while. I adore Catherine for various reasons but never really cared that much for him as he seems arrogant and egotistical. Similar to his brother in many ways, but willing to stand by the Crown.
I'm not wholly impressed by earthshot for various reasons, and I'm definitely not impressed with his new pledge to end homelessness. Jumping the gun, making promises that in my opinion, are impossible to keep. Is this saviour mentality why he will unsuccessful?
I'm firmly in the " do the job you have (bread and butter engagements) don't try to be King of the World and make "meaningful impact" - these words smack of egotism to me. Did we ever see the late Queen using words like that? Absolutely not. Just quietly doing her duty and making uniting the country she loved.
Thanks for your thoughts.
Tumblr media
(this ask is from 27 June 2023)
I think it'll end up being for a variety of reasons.
First, let's consider this quote about Diana from Kitty Kelley's 1997 book, The Royals, page 457:
Diana publicly reinforced her image as the mother of a future King by talking to Richard Kay about her firstborn son. She bragged that at thirteen he was "taller than his father…and so very different." She belittled Charles by building up William: the son is "decisive"; the son has "sense and sensibility"; the son takes "people for what they are, not who they are." The son is handsome, "not burdened" with stick-out ears. "Tell him he's good looking," wrote Richard Kay after visiting with Diana, "and Wills says he can't be because that would make him vain."
Again, that quote is from 1997. The "positive" image that so many Will & Kate Cultists and Charles-hating Diana stans have is straight from Diana's pr games thirty years ago. Most of the perception of William going to be a "great" king comes straight from the drivel Diana connived to get published in the UK tabs in her hate campaign against Charles.
Yes, William certainly is arrogant and egotistical. Notice how he never bows to The King in public, except during the actual coronation ceremony last year. You see Kate curtseying to The King and Queen in public, but not William. He is petulant, just like his brother. (And sorry Wales stans but keep showing your lack of age when you don't realize that Charles bowed to his parents in public all the time until the last seven to ten years, when he started being treated as a pseudo king because he had been heir-to-the-throne for so damn long.)
Consider now that William has completed more than a year of time as the heir to the throne. Yet, in 2023, he could barely best The Duke of Gloucester in engagement numbers. The Duke of Gloucester is older than King Charles and currently 32nd in the line of succession.
William is hardly more prepared now for being the monarch than he was a year ago. (He has less than eight years to become prepared.) It is plainly obvious to me--and probably a few other people--that he is straight-up avoiding increasing his workload. He is not going to be prepared to be monarch. He has not done enough diplomatic tours. He has not done enough engagements for causes that are not "close" to his heart.
Basically, when it gets down to it, he is setting himself up for failure because he refuses to prepare for the job. When he suddenly becomes king sooner than he would like, he won't be prepared. With his stubborn nature, he's unlikely to seek guidance from anyone within the royal family because he believes himself to be their superior in all things. He inherited his mother's ego and her ability to create her own misfortunes. Serious misfortunes.

Everyday, Y/n would wake up in Regulus' bed, sometimes with him already awake and just waiting for her still laying down, others he'd already be down in the kitchen preparing breakfast.
The people living there were usually very suspicious of his cooking, so Lupin would lie and say he watched him prepare it and assure them there are no poison on the plates.
"I'm saving my poison for Mundungus Fletcher." He said once, the man who attempted to steal the locket he died trying to obtain would be very deserving of poisoning.
The kids didn't went back to Hogwarts, Remus writing an obnoxiously long letter about how they were so mentally unstable due to Sirius' death and Voldemort's return being official, it would be better no to risk it.
So weekly they'd receive a package full of quick questions and a more detailed test about each subject.
Hermione was far from content, missing sitting in class and holding her hand up high to answer a question and be received by a gentle smile and a small number of points to her house.
But they couldn't risk going back and accidentally spill something that could compromise them, plus Harry and Ron wouldn't be the best actors for faking grief.
All that summed up to the fact Y/n was still recovering from her almost two weeks visit to the dead world.
Different from the Black brothers, no one pulled her back, she had to force her soul into her body, making a hole in the layer with her size. Fortunately, the Death Eater was way further into the other side of life, so no one else could reach that portal.
Also, she hadn't spat out her possessor yet.
The Potter would usually feel it tingle inside her, making her blood pressure and heartbeats slow down, and she'd almost pass out.
On days like this, they'd take turns on feeding her aching body. Sometimes it'd only accept if it was Harry putting the spoon into her mouth, other days only one of the Black brothers would success.
Because of that, there was one more person far from happy with this arrangement: Molly Weasley.
She wasn't a big fan of letting her son in a house with three undead wizards, but Ron would talk to her through the fireplace everyday.
So they'd live like this for a couple months.
Once all of them got in a fifteen minute tangent about which house she'd get sorted into if she was at Hogwarts.
"Of course she'd be a Ravenclaw!" Hermione argued, with one of Y/n's journal about the possessors on hand. "This is bloody brilliant! She's so smart."
"If that was the case, you would be a Raven too!" Harry countered, sitting across from her, with his sister right behind him. "She's a Gryffindor, that's so obvious!"
"I agree with Harry." Sirius intervened. "She jumped into that veil with no hesitation and faced three Death Eaters alone. She's one of us for sure."
"I don't think so, Pads." Remus said calmly. "Of course, she's brave and there's no doubt, but she did all of that because she knew what would happen, I'm confident she'd be in Ravenclaw."
"Actually I think Hufflepuff would be a great house for her." Ron came into the discussion. "I mean, she did all of that to be loyal to her family and Regulus, she's willing to help what others thought was beyond help."
"But her motivations are selfish, it's her parents. Not to mention the ambition! Winning over death? She's a Slytherin." Regulus barged in, sitting close to Y/n this entire time.
The single thought that the Potter would be in the snake house gained boos and disagreeing shouts the exact instant.
"Just because you put their colors on her doesn't make her a snake, little brother. She's one of the lions!"
"Absolutely not! She's a Ravenclaw!"
Y/n just watched all of that, laying in the bed and sometimes murmuring this to her brother, that would explode in a laugh immediately.
She didn't really cared about their discussion; she knew which house she belonged to —and more than that, which she wanted to belong.
The girl wasn't kidding when she said Regulus was like a keychange that came with her and they were a package deal.
Whenever they engaged in conversations with her, Regulus would be close enough to seem like a shadow. The man was so protective over Y/n too, always coming behind her and ask for a break so she could rest.
And taking that into consideration, of course the possessor would come out the only time he wasn't around.
They talked about how to destroy the locket for weeks and even though he'd be the one to know the most about it, he refused every attempt the others had to go out —always saying it'd be an unworthy risk and he would not leave her side.
But Y/n had to convince him.
"Are you sure?" He asked for the millionth time, stopping for ten minutes every time he got a little bit dressed. "What if something happens?"
"Reggie..." She called, holding his face and he had flashbacks to the night she died, opting to hold her arm tight just in case something happened. "Nothing went wrong all this time, do you really think the only time you'd leave my side something would magically come along and murder me?"
"That's literally what we just been through!"
"I know." Y/n rolled her eyes. "But I was alone then. Here I have one of the smarts witches ever and... those two too." The man laughed lightly at that, still not letting go of her arm. "Nothing's gonna happen."
After some minutes of hesitation, Regulus finally nodded.
"Oh Merlin he's gonna be furious." She sighed about an hour later, turning around on the bed, drenched in cold sweat while being surrounded by the other teenagers.
A bucket sat right by her side while Hermione was looking around through her calligraphy on potion jars, Ron kept a cold towel against her forehead and Harry tried to reason with the other possessor on the room to help his sister.
"Please you need to get better!" Ron begged, moving the towel around her face. "I really don't wanna know what the Cruciatus feel like."
"Well..." Y/n coughed. "He has been wanting to hex you two for quite some time now."
Ron's face turned into a crying frown which just made her laugh even worse.
"Didn't you had two possessors?" Hermione asked when she noticed Harry was heavily talking to a single creature.
"I assumed mine would be really big and hard to control so Regulus' went to look for the ones that escaped and the men of the house for some help." The Potter muttered, immediately turning around and lying some dark goo that was far from being a possessor, but was a big start.
"Oh God, oh Merlin." Harry groaned, concern writing all over his face.
"Relax." His sister asked, fingers gripping to the mattress. "I'm gonna be fine. I always do."
Y/n coughed harshly almost throwing up her entire throat, eyes watering and face feeling numb. The possessor was moving inside her, claws piercing deep into her organs to hold itself.
"Does miss Potter need help?" Kreacher voice came from the door, sounding genuinely worried.
She so her head no as some of its paws stared showing from her open mouth, making Ron whine and steal the bucket to throw up himself.
And she was right, the possessor took an age to come out, and when it did, it was huge, twice the bed size and sharp glowing red eyes shined all over his face.
"I-its massive." Hermione whimpered, hands shaking as she unscrew a potion bottle to feed Y/n, but the creature growled, taking a step forward, making it clear his intentions to go back to her body. "No. NO!"
The girl jumped, standing up and holding her wand in the most threatening way possible, Ron and Harry doing the same.
"If you wanna take someone, take me!" The Potter boy shouted, making himself look bigger and cover his sister unconscious body fully.
The possessor screeched and advanced towards him, Harry closed his eyes to accept the fate if it meant his twin would be safe.
But before the cold paws of death could reach him, the others possessors came into the room, all forming a barrer in front of them, guarding the teenagers.
"Is there a way to take him to the basement?" Kreacher asked, standing on the bed.
"I don't know, are they repelled by something?"
"It doesn't say anything on her notes."
"Oh God we're gonna die here and I couldn't make mom a rich woman yet!"
Y/n's possessor starting making himself look larger and more intimidating, preparing to attack, when the three wizards came bursting through the door.
Regulus didn't like like himself, neither the one from the last days, or the one that first met. No, he was a different man, rage and darkness filled his eyes as he forced the possessor the withdraw and took him to the basement, Kreacher sealing the door.
Grotesque screams escaped the possessor in a way they never heard before, and it gave the teenagers a chill.
"Hide before he comes back! Now! Go go go go!" Sirius instructed, the kids rushing outside her room to lock themselves in the shared one.
Sirius was with him when the possessor found them and Regulus immediately knew something was wrong. It didn't even mattered, he didn't tried to understand the creature, already rushing to apparate with bloodthirsty look on his eyes.
The younger Black appeared on the door and Sirius pushed a smile to his face, which was badly received.
"Leave." Was all he said.
When Y/n woke up a couple of minutes later she was greeted by a very frowny Regulus during right in front of her.
"Geez, who bit you?"
He didn't answered, standing there in silence, barely blinking. To say he was mad was an understatement, man was fucking fuming.
"Listen, I-"
"What did I said would happen?"
"Reggie-"
"And what happened?" He interrupted once again.
"I'm not dead, I-"
"You could've been." He spat out. "Those kids don't know shit about all of this, they're not help! I told you! But no, you couldn't stop being a reckless and dumb bitch for once!"
His cheek hurt, and neck snapped to the side. She hasn't slapped him, she punched him.
Gathered all her forces to do just that, doesn't matter how badly her fist would hurt later.
"This dumb bitch knew exactly what she was doing." She bit back. "The possessor wouldn't come out until I wasn't around people who should be dead, it was eating me from the inside." His eyes went wide as he voice became louder as she spoke. "Don't fucking turn it on me when I'm already exhausted! Now get the fuck out cause I don't wanna have to get up and kick your ass."
He blinked, hating all of this and wanting to reach out to hug her and give her the comfort she needed after everything she'd been through.
But Y/n wouldn't back down. "Now, Regulus."
The girl ordered and turned around, back facing him as she prepared to take some sleep.
Slowly, he got up and walked baby steps to the door, wishing she'd change her mind and just ask him to lay down together.
But she didn't, and he left.
God, he felt horrible, it had been months since they fought so bad they wouldn't sleep together. And of course, just like last time, he turned on her his frustrations.
You really didn't get anything from that, did you? Bloody idiot!
Three hours and a half passed with the house silent like a tomb when Regulus broke it, knocking on her door.
After some quiet moments thinking she wouldn't answer, Kreacher opens the door from the inside and the Black finally sees her again. Lying on the mattress looking so tired and weak, and she wouldn't stare at him.
"I made your favorite." He stated, approaching the bed, plate on his hand. "You need to eat, I hope you like it."
Regulus thought so much of what to do, but he was never one to apologize. Holding her to sleep wouldn't work this time. So maybe some acts of service would do, showing her he did care so much for her.
"Do you want me to feed it to you?"
"You hate doing that." She answered.
"Do you want me to?"
Y/n looked up for the first time and saw sorry in his eyes. She sighed and sat up, leaving space for him to sit in front of her, which he did.
Despite the offer, she chose to eat it by herself.
"Shit's really good." She murmured, putting a small smile on his face and the girl mirrored him.
At that time, they both wanted the exact same thing: for Regulus to lean in and seal their lips together after apologizing lowly.
But their kissing didn't really followed a pattern. Sometimes it would be before or after breakfast, other times he'd secretly pull her and land a peck in her lips with the thrill of others possibly catching them.
It wasn't everyday too, she never knew when they'd find their way to her lips.
She was fine with him doing things his way, but sometimes a small impulse of wanting something more would bloom.
And he wanted to kiss her more, just not having the courage to do so, even though he did that before, doubts ran on his mind.
What if she doesn't want to? What if I misread the situation? What if..?
So despite both wanting that, they didn't kiss.
And they'd continue to not do things they wanted to for a very long time.

Thinking about your NY and his brothers
How do you think Gov would react when he learns how they were all treated by England? Like I'm pretty sure he would punch that bastard in the face (again) the next time they meet [I have a hc that while IDC handles meetings outside the country, any nation which visits talks to Gov. So now imagine an unknowing England coming up for some random reason recently after Gov discovers the way he used to treat the states.]
I actually have a hc that when NY was rescued from the prison (during the Rev. War), Gov (or Congress at the time) beat England to a bloody pulp and shanked that mf in the heart twice with a grin on his face, whilst PA dealt with York. Mass would’ve came, but PA being the awesome bf he is didn’t want Mass to have to see York like that, and told him to stay with NJ and CT so that he could mentally prepare himself and get stuff ready for if York needed medical help (he needed SO MUCH-).
In terms of how England treat NY and his older brothers (TW: abuse), I think that NY was the only one that England ever got brutally physical with. NY was his prized possession and England wanted him to be either EXACTLY like him, or at least something he could use a weapon for war. And so he would beat the living sh*t out of York, and call it "training". And NY thought it was, he thought "Oh this is training, I just need to get better so that I stop getting hurt and stop making Father angry!”. York constantly got beat both verbally and physically almost everyday. It was even worse cuz England hated it when York cried and hated that York was autistic and would even go so far as to say that he was beating the "illness" out of him.
With NJ, I think that England definitely belittled him for having Tourette’s Syndrome, and would sometimes yell at him for his tics. I feel like he also definitely called NJ a spawn of Satan whenever he pleased, and that definitely did a number on NJ’s self-esteem (my poor baby-). England would probably try to hit NJ, but that would just result in him nearly losing a finger. Though NJ did rebel and leave home as soon as he could (CT, and Mass stayed home to study and argue with England and be there to help NY if needed, though Mass would run to the little place where him and the other colonies hung out when the cries and whimpers of his little brother’s pain got too unbearable for him to hear).
Massachusetts was England’s first attempt at a war weapon, but Mass’s stubborn lovable nerdy ass rebelled before England could be anywhere near as harsh as he was with NY. Like I said before, Mass still stayed home, but sometimes everything got to much and he would run to the place where him and the other colonies hung out (and partially lived-)
England had Connecticut as a first attempt, and he failed miserably. Connecticut was too damn stubborn to allow himself to me morphed into what England wanted him to be, and was much more interested in books and boats and boat work, and Connie would spend most of his time around the sea, wishing he could be like the pirates and merchants that came and went. He barely spent enough time at home for England to do much other than yell at him and tell him how stupid his interests were and tell him that he was never gonna achieve anything in life (Parents, NEVER DO THIS IT WILL FVCK UP YOUR CHILD SO BADLY-)
Gov was already happy with being the one to kill England, but was even more happy when he found out how horrible England was. And he definitely showed that same smile he showed that day. PA was having flashbacks to that day but he stayed silent cuz of how terrifying it was 😭😭

On vacation
ellie x fem reader
warnings: not smut but explicit talk of sexual stuff. 18+
Info: Reader drags her long time girlfriend to meet her parents at their summer vacation home. The two share a very embarrassing moment together
A/N: didn’t proofread and this may be kinda stupid
Ellie was once again plugging in her controller before sitting down, ready to play a game of hers.
The two of you had been living together for a while now and were comfortable in your daily routines.
After work everyday you’d walk in on her setting up her console to play some games. You’d typically be exhausted and a little annoyed at her relaxation.
Today was different. You had something exciting to tell her. And It was either going to be exciting and a great moment for you two or it would be a huge argument. Ellie was unpredictable so you spent the whole day at work mentally preparing for her reaction.
You plopped down beside her, looking up at the ceiling and then facing towards her. This caused Ellie to smirk a bit, trying to look at you and focus on her game at the same time.
You wrap your arms around hers and cozy up next to her, causing her to pause the game and focus on you for a second.
“How was your day?” She said.
“It was fine. Lots of hard work but that’s expected right?”
Ellie nodded her head, waiting for you to finish anything more that you had to say.
“My mom called me too. She asked me over to the summer house for about three weeks….”
“Oh. And you’re going?” Ellie said
“Yeah. And guess what..”
“What?”
“..I said that you’re coming too!“ You press down on her arm excitedly.
Ellie tilted her head. Seemingly annoyed.
You noticed her change in mood and reassured her by caressing her arm and turn her head to face you.
Ellie was never good with your parents. She’d try but still seemed like she was trying too hard.
The only time they had met was when your parents popped into your apartment while visiting the city you lived in. They didn’t know Ellie was your girlfriend yet and just assumed that you two were very close friends that were inseparable. When they would see Ellie, she’d always be like an extra in a movie or something. Always in the background either on her game or computer and would only ever say something like “Hello” or ‘I’m gonna go shower.”
“They said it was alright for you to come so no need to act crazy okay.” You attempted at comforting her but this only made her turn the game off and lie back.
“What am I gonna wear?” She said. This confused you because Ellie never cared about how she was dressed, it’s usually you asking these types of questions.
“Awe…baby you’re so cute.” You said to her.
Her face was becoming red from the embarrassment, she decided to distract herself with anything she found on the coffee table.
“You care about me so much you wanna impress them huh?” You grabbed her hands and she eventually opened her arms to cuddle you.
The next morning, Ellie had been prepping breakfast like usual. She was the cook around the house. (apartment rlly). You smiled at her while pulling your hair out of your face.
“I’m making us avocado toast. Cool with that?”
“Of course.” You pecked her lips softly before gazing into her eyes a bit. It was cliché. But it was part of your guys morning routine. Whoever was up first would be greeted with a kiss even if you both argued the night before or something.
It was the best thing because not only did you get kisses from Ellie right before breakfast but also because she is never lovey dovey in public. Everyone thinks she’s the toughest one out of the both of you but you both knew the truth.
“So have you started packing yet.” You say as you start to walk away and make yourself comfortable on the island chair.
She let out an irritated sigh, “Have you?”
“Nope. But i’m looking forward to some cheesy packing with each other.”
“Where is the vacation at?”
“My parents summer house in the country.”
“No beaches?”
“Lots.”
The two of you were city people, the thought of having to leave it behind even for a few weeks did leave Ellie full of questions. She would just have to wait and see for herself that it isn’t too bad.
Before you knew it, Ellie and you were done packing your suitcases. They looked as if you both had been moving rather than just staying a few weeks. Ellie loaded up the sedan and the two of you were off.
After a long night and morning of getting lost, yelling at Ellie for getting you two lost, driving through suspicious roads, and feeding Ellie food because she couldn’t get her hands off the wheel, the two of you made it. It was dreadful and all you wanted to do was find your room and pass out for a few hours.
Your mother was a successful business woman who was quite confident in herself. She was threatening to most people. Your father, well, he was good at hosting superb barbecues.
Your mother was dressed in her favorite Summer look, jean button up shirt and plaid pants that were perfect for picnics. She approached the both of you, causing you to stop helping Ellie with the suitcases.
“Mom!” You shouted. Leaning in for a tight hug. The truck door shutting loudly as Ellie struggled.
“Oh baby let me help! Mom. We’ll catch up when we’re done okay?”
Let’s just say, the pet names were a pet peeve for Ellie when done in public. She looked at you, and you knew exactly why she was. “It was just baby..”
“I don’t like that… not in front of your parents.”
“Ellie, can you loosen up a bit. THEY KNOW WE’RE FUCKING!”
Luckily for Ellie, you weren’t too loud that everyone would hear but still, you were making this harder.
The two of you got to the room. Ellie wasn’t as mad anymore since she had been exposed to some A.C.
You lied down on the freshly made bed, spreading your arms and moaning at how good it felt to be inside. (what a mouthful lmfaoo)
Ellie smirked at you, taking off her backpack and placing it to the ground.
She walked over to you, hovering and giving you kisses.
“It does feel good in here.” She said in between kisses.
She pulled away when she noticed you were too much for her to handle right now. It wasn’t the proper setting for her to take care of you.
“Damn how long have they had wallpaper on?”
You rolled your eyes and answered her anyway. “It’s the Summer house, Ellie. It’s supposed to look shitty and be nostalgic.”
At dinner, everyone was seated. It was your mother, your father, your older brother and two sisters, your cousins and their parents. Let’s just say it was hectic getting everyone to finally sit. Of course, Ellie sat beside you.
Ellie was shy but she wasn’t shy enough to go crazy on barbecue food. It was one of the things she loved about country living. In the city, for events you both would only eat sushi or something else that was always way out your budget.
As Ellie ate, you caressed her head, back and neck, moving her hair out of her face. This was a way to say that you were there for her and that you were watching her as she ate. Ellie sat back in her chair after a few bites to listen to the main conversation at the table.
You stopped caressing her and she flashed a smile at you.
Thinking that you were obvious about your way of affection with her, you decided to lean over towards her ear.
“Please…” you whispered. Ellie knew what you meant. The both of you left but everyone was too into their own conversations to notice or care.
The both of you got away. Couldn’t keep your hands off of each other on the way up to the room.
Before you knew it, you were bottoming at your parent’s summer house.
Unfortunately though, you both couldn’t keep quiet. Moans and dirty talk filled the room. Plus the cheap beds were creaking and hitting the wall. With all the rooms in the house, you didn’t think anyone would pinpoint you two.
As any concerned person would, your mother stopped by the front door. Refusing to listen she instead opened the door wide and unfortunately at the same time you were about to cum.
Ellie threw herself off of you and onto the ground, where your mother couldn’t see her. The both of you had wrapped yourselves in the thick blankets and your mother slammed the door before leaving. It all happened within 20 seconds.
“Oh my fucking god?” You said. Ellie looked up at you. The both of you were speechless.
“Ellie…get off the ground.”
“I guess our vacations over.” Ellie joked and you couldn’t help but laugh.
That morning, Ellie wanted to take a shower. Of course, the bathroom was a few rooms down. You noticed her pacing around and you woke up completely.
“Hey… what are you doing?” You asked all groggily and tired.
“I want to shower but I keep hearing people walking by.. I don’t want to be seen babe I don’t think you get it.”
“Awe Ellie. It’s so funny how you think i’m not embarrassed. Shit, I don’t even wanna think about leaving this room.”
Reassured, Ellie sat down on the bed beside you.
“Well, what are we gonna do?” Ellie whispered.
“I just wanna act like nothing happened.”
“No. I can’t.” Ellie said nervously. “I can’t pretend it didn’t happen because it did, your mom knows how my strap looks. Oh my fucking god.”
“Relax Ellie. I think it’s more embarrassing to be me. I can never escape them like you can.”
It was easy trying to reassure Ellie. Deep down though, you were just as embarrassed and nervous to make your next move in this house.
Later on that day, you and Ellie had been starving, haven’t left the room once. You decided that the both of you leave the room and see what happens from there. When the both of you left, their was a subtle stiffness in both of your bodies. You had to mentally shake it off and go with the flow.
Your mother, father and the rest of the family were all spread out across the dining room to the kitchen. They were all distracted by either the sports in the living room or parenting styles conversations in the kitchen.
The two of you wanted to walk as quickly as possible but somehow Ellie knocks over a small flower vase, immediately causing everyone to shift their attention at the both of you.
“Where the hell have you two been?” Your father shouts from the living room.
“I can tell ya!” Your mother said, causing you to want to vomit right there.
“Sleeping all day!” She joked and sighed of relief. You look over to Ellie and it had seemed like she was trying to hold back her laughter which made you do the same.
It was odd for sure. But it seemed like this was the one thing your mom didn’t go gossiping about and you were quite proud of her.
Until you turned around to hearing one of your aunts trying to hold back her obvious snickering, and there was the embarrassment you had been searching for….

And I Lost You (The One I Was Dancin’ With in New York)
Chapter 1: Good Girl, Sad Boy
This is the first part of my submission for @theerasfestlovesquareversion! I was assigned the album Midnights and this fic is inspired by three songs from that album. Hope y’all enjoy!
Read on AO3
——————————————————————————-
Marinette straightened the hem on her pink miniskirt as she stood in front of the elevator. Her fingers trembled as she applied a fresh coat of lip gloss to her already stained lips. As the bell chimed and the door opened, she quickly stepped inside. Her hand quivered as she pressed the button for her designated floor.
She stood with her back straight against the wall, taking in deep breaths as to mentally prepare herself. Her eyes followed the numbers as they flashed on the screen. Finally, the elevator stopped and the doors opened.
As she stepped out into the narrow hallway, that was when the nerves really started to hit. Beads of sweat formed on her forehead and her stomach did a few somersaults. She stopped to lean against the wall for a moment as a feeling of uneasiness built up within her chest.
Taking a deep breath, she swallowed hard and closed her eyes. “I can do this, it’ll be okay,” she said to herself in a low voice. As the feeling began to pass, she continued walking towards her destination.
This was the first time she would be visiting Alya in her new apartment. Her older sister was away at university and her parents had taken the twins out for the weekend, which gave her the perfect opportunity to throw a small housewarming party.
It didn’t take long for Marinette to find the apartment as the sound of loud music seeped out through the walls. She reached a hand up to knock on the door, then retracted it. Alya had actually sent her a text message a few hours earlier saying to just come inside.
After taking just a few more calming breaths, Marinette turned the doorknob and let herself slip inside. She was greeted by a nicely lit room filled with the aroma of snacks and wine.
To her surprise, quite a few people had already arrived. Juleka, Rose, Mylène and Alix sat on the couch, glasses of red wine already filling the coffee table. Nathaniel and Marc had made a spot on the floor, where they sat with Kim and Max.
The aforementioned groups waved happily at her as she walked past. Her eyes landed on Alya, who stood near the snack table. Their eyes met and her best friend smiled widely as Marinette began walking towards her.
“There you are!” Alya said as she pulled her into a hug. “You haven’t answered my texts since this morning, I really thought something had happened to you.”
Marinette felt her face turn cold as a wave of guilt washed over her. “Oh, um, yeah…” she looked down at her feet. “Sorry about that.”
“Are you okay?” Alya asked, her voice filled with concern. Her eyes widened as it finally hit her. “Oh…right, yeah, I should’ve known.”
Marinette looked up at her. “No, no, it’s not your fault,” she shook her head, her loose bun flopping around. “I’m okay, I promise.”
Alya looked at her with a sad expression. “Okay, well, I’ll take your word for it,” then her smile returned. “After all, you are my honored guest tonight.”
Marinette chuckled. “I would be lying if I said that I’m not nervous, but I’m trying my best,” she admitted.
“That’s good enough for me,” Alya patted her on the shoulder. “I’m just happy that you decided to come anyway.”
“Hey, Babe,” Nino slipped in behind her and kissed her cheek. “This party is totally rockin’! You did such a wonderful job.” His eyes landed on Marinette and he smiled widely. “Oh, hey, Marinette! I’m so happy to see you!”
She smiled shyly. “I’m happy to see you, too,” her voice came out sounding so small. “Everything looks really nice, so far.”
“Glad to hear it, dude!” He grabbed a glass of wine and twirled it around. “Hey, I’ll be over at the DJ booth if there’s any song you’d like me to play.”
She nodded. “I’ll keep that in mind.”
Then, she froze.
“Hey, Nino, you left these over there,” Adrien came up beside him, a pair of red headphones in his hands. “I think you’re going to need them.”
“Thanks, buddy!” Nino said, excitedly as he grabbed them from his hands. “I’ll be over there if y’all need me!” He then took off towards the DJ booth.
Adrien. Adrien Agreste. The same Adrien who broke up with her nearly a year ago. Her ex-boyfriend, Adrien, whom she had been avoiding for the past year.
Yet, somehow, she was unable to take her eyes off of him.
The urge to run away built up within her, but it was as if her feet had been glued to the floor. She stood there, her body cemented in its current position. No matter how hard she tried, she was forced to stand there and face the boy whom she once loved so much.
He immediately noticed her staring at him and looked away, nervously rubbing the back of his neck. “Um, hey, Marinette,” he said without even taking one single glance at her. “Glad to see you here.”
The awkward nervousness in his voice did little to soothe her aching nerves. Her heart pounded in her chest as his voice rang in her ears. “H-Hi, Adrien…” her muscles finally allowed her to move and she managed to look away from him. “Yeah, I, uh, wanted to be here to support my best friend.”
His eyes shifted towards her and he smiled a little. “Of course, I figured you would,” then he looked over at Alya, who was still awkwardly standing there. “Nice party, by the way, I’m having a lot of fun.”
Alya looked between her two friends and shook her head. “I’m glad to hear that, Adrien!” She said, smiling. “I should probably go get some of the games ready.”
As she turned to leave, Marinette reached out a hand to her. “Wait, no! Don’t leave me here…” she then noticed the sad expression on Adrien’s face and caught what she was saying. “You…you probably need some help with the games, right? I’d love to help!”
Alya cocked an eyebrow at her, then immediately realized. “Oh, yeah, sure, of course,” she grabbed her by the hand, but not before smiling widely at Adrien. “Maybe Nino would like some help at his booth, too?”
Adrien perked up and looked back towards where his best friend was. “Maybe so, I guess I can go check,” he began to turn around. “I’ll see you two around then.”
He then walked off and Marinette felt herself breathe a sigh of relief. “Oh my god! That was awful!” She exclaimed as Alya dragged her down the hall. “I-I was just frozen, Alya, that’s what he does to me! And I hate it!”
As Alya opened the door to a nearby closet, she asked, “Do you actually hate it, though?”
Marinette could feel herself becoming irritated, the anger bubbling up inside of her. “Of course I do and you know exactly why,” she said, accepting a box that Alya handed to her.
“Because he broke your heart, I know,” Alya turned around to face her as she closed the door with her foot. “But exactly how long did you think you’d be able to avoid him, Marinette? I mean, you already refuse to even look at him in school.”
“And I planned on keeping it that way,” her voice became soft, trailing off as she looked down at her feet. “But…”
“But?” Alya looked at her, her eyebrow raised.
“Recently, I’ve started realizing that I can’t keep avoiding him forever,” she admitted. “But it’s just…I dunno.”
“Well, so long as you two aren’t at each other’s throats,” Alya began as they started walking back towards the party. “Then I’ll take the awkward, minimalist conversations.”
Marinette sighed. “I don’t hate him, ya know,” she said. “Things are just…weird between us.”
“That thought never even crossed my mind,” Alya said, smiling. “Just give it some time and maybe things will be better between you two eventually.”
As they made it back into the living room, they sat their boxes down in the middle of the floor.
“Maybe, but I’m not holding my breath,” Marinette said, taking a glance at the boxes that they had been carrying. “What is this, by the way?”
Her best friend looked at her with a cheeky grin that made her entire stomach do a flip. “Just a little party game, that’s all,” she responded, leaning down to open the boxes. “Go on and talk to everybody, I can set it up.”
Marinette stuck her shaky hands into the pockets of her skirt and shifted on her feet. “Okay, I will,” she said, her eyes glancing around the room.
A few more of their friends had arrived while she was busy helping Alya. Zoé happily strolled in with her girlfriend and Luka and Kagami trailed behind her. Despite being in a room surrounded by some of her closest friends…
Her eyes still couldn’t stop landing on the blond boy in the corner. He stood up against the wall, a glass of wine in his hand as he laughed. His body shook as a wide grin spread across his lips. He always smiled so brightly whenever he laughed.
A sudden fluttering feeling made its way into her stomach. A hint of queasiness came along with it and her legs shook. She swallowed hard, grabbing a nearby glass of wine and taking a few sips. She forced her eyes to look away from Adrien before her entire body collapsed.
“Hey, Marinette, you okay?” A small voice came from behind her and she turned around to see Zoé standing there. “You look a little sick.”
“Zoé! Hey! O-Oh, yeah, I’m okay,” she took another sip before sharing a quick hug with her friend. “Just really anxious to be here, that’s all.”
“I’m happy to hear it,” she took a sip of her water. “It’s really nice to hang out with everyone again, but especially you!”
Zoé’s bright smile alleviated some of the pressure that had been building within her. “Same to you as well,” Marinette said. “It’s been long overdue.”
“You said it!” Zoé said, laughing a little. “And I know that things have been really awkward between you and a certain someone, but don’t let that stop you from enjoying this party, okay?”
Marinette sighed and slapped her free hand to her face. “Is it really that obvious?”
Zoé nodded as she flashed her a small smile. “You’re a bit of an open book, Marinette,” she said. “But it’s okay, you’ll get through it.”
Marinette let herself breathe a sigh of relief. “I’m trying, I promise,” she said. “Alya wanted me here and I knew he would be here because we literally share all of the same mutual friends so…yeah.”
“I know the feeling,” Zoé gave her a sympathetic pat on the shoulder. “You psych yourself up for something, but then when it comes time to do it, you just…” she took another swig of water. “You get it.”
“I sure do…” she let herself take another sip of wine as Alya’s voice piped up.
“Alright, everyone!” Alya began as she turned down the music enough for everyone to hear her. “I hope everyone is enjoying themselves so far!”
The entire room became filled with various responses of “yes”, “yeah” and “hell yeah.”
“Glad to hear it,” she clasped her hands in front of herself. “I hope y’all are ready because I’ve got a super fun, yet very classic party game for us to play.” She walked over to a small setup in the middle of the living room. A circle of pillows had been laid down and an empty bottle of wine lay right in the middle.
“Oh no…she didn’t…” Marinette whispered to herself, a shiver making its way down her spine.
“It’s a little game called…” Alya knelt down and spun the bottle, watching as it pointed towards one of the pillows on the floor. “Spin the Bottle!”
And just like that, Marinette had gained a new fear.

DRK Volume 7 Review (Super long and full of spoilers)
Oof…
I’m struggling to put my thoughts into words for this…
So erm… that just happened /ref
The amount of screenshots I took of this volume are enough to kill a small Victorian child at the thought of it.
The beginning of the novel is actually so devastating but it’s actually even worse when you know the ending.
Yui is mentally forced to be the culprit of the Duel Noir, because Shinsen says that if she doesn’t, he’ll kidnap Kyoko.
Didn’t know that before actually reading the novel, lowkey thought Yui just wanted revenge.
Then Shinsen stabs himself in the head… how interesting! 🤐
Crazy tho that Shinsen wanted to frame Fuhito for it, I really really wanted to know what happened to Fuhito after, how he denied the allegations and whatever.
The part (aka page 70) that made me actually cry was, “The room was tidied up to the point where I wouldn’t feel ashamed even if my parents suddenly came to visit, but now it even gives the impression of loneliness. I threw away all my diaries and photos too.
There’s no place to go back to- it’s the same for me.
Most likely, I will never come back here.
I put my coat hanging on the hanger, and walked out of the room with my backpack on.”
Umm- ☹️
There’s so much.
So so much.
Feelings that I felt during this volume and I literally can’t summarize it.
Honestly though the insane amount of kiridare content was so sickening, why do they tease us like this.
“Our relationship,” WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THAT???
Unnecessary ambiguity…
Society…
The things I would do for a “DRK :If” are crazy, there’s this artist on twitter (amazing artist btw they’re @/Aayoii00) who drew a DRK: If novel cover and now it makes me want to write a fanfic about it.
Anyway…
Should probably talk abt the ending…
It’s SICKENING.
Kyoko really was trying to handcuff herself to Yui so that they couldn’t kill her.
But then that pedo Kuhain came and shot Yui in the back.
Like stay dead my guy.
Then stabbed Kyoko in the hand 😭 and then tried to shoot her…
And honestly I think we need to talk more about how Kyoko literally wanted to die that entire time.
She didn’t even try to move away from the shot, Yui had to save her by throwing him off a cliff.
And we as a society don’t talk about Kyoko’s mental health as much as we should.
Like the whole time she was trying to be with Yui or save her.
She was ready to take that arrow to the head, she was prepared to burn to save her, she literally almost died of hypothermia because she REFUSED to leave Yui when she was already dead.
Like I know we all know how Kyoko is reserved and whatever, but we need a DEEP DIVE into her mind.
Maybe I’ll do that later…
Ok, so Kyoko had a total of three scars on her (left?) hand I forgor which one, a bullet shot, burn scars, and a stab wound, but both hands are burned, just putting that out there.
ALSO THE FACT THAT THERE WAS TWO CULPRITS?????
Yui was the first culprit and Yuhain was the second, so Yui could’ve lived anyway and it literally didn’t matter???????
Also I think Yui should have had more faith in Kyoko, like Fuhito said, she would’ve been fine, she didn’t need to save her from a “kidnapping” but they used her trauma against her so I guess it makes sense.
Overall the volume is truly really good, 9/10, a good backstory for Kyoko, now I can finally move on to finishing Kirigiri Sou again, and rereading DR0.
Today I will be doing my three quotes AND a small playlist of songs I love and remind me of Yui and Kyoko.
1. “On the way back to the dormitory, I saw a young girl standing with her back against a zelkova tree.
It's Kirigiri.
She is looking in the direction of the church from a distance, her hands in the pockets of her coat, and she is exhaling white breath.
In the shade cast by a few rays of sunlight leaking through the clouds, her profile is almost indistinguishable from the soft snowflakes, which looks like as if she would soon disappear into nothingness.
She noticed my presence and turned to me. I waved at her, she seemed embarrassed, looked away, and got away from the tree.”
2. “‘Compared to that time, your expressions got richer’
‘That time?’
Kirigiri tilted her head.
"’When we first met. Wasn't it the same time as now, walking in the snow together? You weren't putting on a face that could be called an expression at all, making it look like you were already frozen from the cold.’
‘Maybe it was actually frozen.’ Kirigiri said emotionlessly.
‘Because it was very cold.’”
3. “‘You- can't understand the hearts of others. No matter how perfect your reasoning is, you can't understand other people's feelings. That's your weakness.’
‘I... I'm trying to understand! I've never in my life tried this hard to understand! but even so, even so...’
‘I'm sorry, Kirigiri-chan, this is all I can do.’ l embraced her.
It was a very sinful act, and even though my hands are stained. I couldn't help but do it when I thought of all the time I have spent with her.
Kirigiri buried her face in my arms.
‘And the promise to braid my hair?’
She asked.
‘One day... for sure.’”
And here’s the small playlist:
welcome and goodbye - Dream, Ivory (not Dream the MC player btw 😭)
forget her - girl in red
I Guess - Mitski
Motion Sickness - Phoebe Bridgers (very basic idc)
The Night We Met - Lord Huron
Ribs - Lorde
Sunflower - Michele Leigh

Subaru gets drunk and makes it Karen's problem crack fic
Thanks to Twitter idea of Karen making mistake of her life and inviting Subaru out for a drink wormed into my mind. Ofc I was insane enough to buy Smirnoff, get tipsy myself and write this crack fic. Absolute insanity, Subaru gets wasted for first time and can't shut up about dick he's not getting
Broke is fixing Subaru, woke bullying Seishirou and bespoke bullying Subaru (and Karen who has to deal with this depressed repressed horny drunk for first time in his life light-weight gay mess)
I even made a moodboard for drunk Subaru :D (fic is below)
Tumblr media
Karen took a sip of her drink and leaned into bar stool. She side-eyed her drinking partner who was in sorry state after just one shot, sighed and wondered how she roped herself into this mess in the first place.
For past few weeks she’s been stopping by Seal’s dorm on semi-regular basis; just to make sure kids were alright, as much as circumstances allowed. Every now and then she ran into Subaru there; one needn’t be a genius to figure out guy was moping non-stop. He could use a shoulder to cry on, good dicking down or getting wasted, Karen diagnosed; as they were mere acquaintances she kept those thoughts private. Rest of Seals were children, of course they couldn’t offer too much reassurance to adult who by all indications went to hell and back; on other hand Karen barely knew anything about Subaru’s private life, hence it wasn’t her place to tell him what to do.
Alas, during today’s visit Karen ran into Subaru again. If possible he was in even worse state than usual. After battle with other side’s Kamui yesterday their Kamui was in yet another coma; maybe Subaru was extra down in dumps because of Kamui’s state or maybe for having noone to mop together with. Something about friendship goals. Really, if that’s how Kamui was emotionally relying on maybe they should all book graveyard spots on time; so much for emotional support, Subaru couldn’t even support himself.
Either way, Karen took pity and invited Subaru out for a drink. He looked like he needed a few. Impulsive decision but then again, she didn’t expect him to say yes anyways; mere courtesy, so she could tell herself later on that she at least tried bonding with third adult in their group. Imagine her shock when he agreed right of the bat – and even suggested that drinking night is tonight.
That’s how they ended in a pub close to Clamp campus. And that’s how after first drink Karen began questioning all her life choices that led her to the point where she had to play a bartender therapist to this melancholic therapist by occupation who happened to be in dire need of real therapist.
Subaru slumped over counter after just one glass of sake. He toyed with glass’ rim, looked like he was about to cry. Karen internally cursed herself again; cursed Subaru as well for putting her in awkward situation. Just what could happen to a man to reduce him to this moping mess? Love problems? Shitty life situation? Poverty? No, he was head of prestige clan, no way he had money issues. Death in family? Possibly given how he related to Kamui’s tragic losses. Karen hopped it ain’t that one; she could deal with love problems, her line of work made her more perceptive of any underlining emotional issues.
She dealt with countless types of men before, only natural Karen was confident she could handle a melancholic repressed gay.
Karen had no idea how wrong she was.
“Is this your first time trying sake? How do you like it?”, she tried with small talk. Had to start somewhere.
“I miss him”, Subaru murmured wistfully, completely ignored her question. Actually there was no need for verbal answer at all, his reaction spoke volumes.
Ah shit here we go. Karen took a sip of gin, mentally prepared herself for another round of soft parenting an emotional messed up man; only difference from her clients being that this one had zero interest in getting into her pants, just the opposite – wanted someone to get into his. Maybe Subaru needed both to get wasted and laid. Surely that combination would fix him.
“Miss who?”
“Seishirou-san…”
Like name meant anything. Karen said nothing at first, nursed her drink and waited for Subaru to elaborate. He didn’t. Just kept on yearningly gazing at almost empty glass as if that was his ex. Unbelievable. Karen definitely needed another shot; preferably something strong. For longest time she assumed there was noone with more internalized issues than her but next to Subaru she felt like common sense on two legs.
“Your ex boyfriend I assume?”, she asked finally in hope of breaking awkward silence. What to say, amazing drinking buddy.
“It’s… complicated”, Subaru murmured.
Of course it is, otherwise they wouldn’t be here. God forbid anything was simple with this mess in adult form to her left. Karen sighed and took a shot of dry gin. Ugh, so heavy on stomach, throat stung – exactly what she need to survive a night.
“If only we d-dated back then ... at least he would have dicked me down good”, Subaru complained with same face and tone one might use to describe weather.
Good thing she wasn’t drinking anything, otherwise she would have spit it all out. Listening to prestige clan head drunk whining he’s not getting enough sex surely wasn’t on Karen’s to-do list. Who would have thought someone as refined and modest as Subaru was just a repressed hormonal mess in a worn out coat and Balenciaga turtleneck; money surely wasn’t an issue but everything else was. Beware the quiet ones indeed. Karen had a hunch Kamui was following Subaru in steps. At least boy had higher chances of getting laid given how his battles with other Kamui looked.
“How do I get him to fuck me?”, Subaru yelp a tad bit too loudly and captured everyone's attention. Great, now everyone knew she was drinking with a gay man; so much for hoping for a peaceful night without getting hit on. So much for that. On brighter side maybe some of those suitors would try wooing Subaru instead of her.
“How much submissive and breedable I need to become?”, he complained further and reached for a glass. None of those words were in bible.
Instead of picking the glass up Subaru flipped it over; alcohol poured over counter. Subaru murmured sorry and cleaned the counter – with bare hand. Unbelievable. Never before has she seen such light-weight. But then again, that depended on food intake and general experience with alcohol; not only Subaru had none but also he struck as someone to live on ramen and tea.
There was no other - this night is mistake of a lifetime. All the men of quality were either taken or gay but Karen wasn’t really sure where to put Subaru there. Of quality part was… disputable.
Karen fetched a napkin and shoved into Subaru’s hand. He thanked her and managed to clean the counter before bartender showed up. If someone told her she’d be babysitting a twenty something man she would have laughed in their face. And yet here she was, doing precisely that.
Alas, consideration got the best of her - “Are you alright Subaru-san?”
“No, I need him to destroy me”
“Like in sheets or in streets?” - Karen asked hesitantly, unsure if she actually wanted to know.
“Yes”, Subaru deadpanned.
Yes, she definitely didn’t want to know.
Bartender walked to their side of bar. Karen took a moment to get herself another shot; heaven knows she’ll be needing it. Subaru also took note of that, apparently he wanted another round too. Karen was torn between being only responsible adult here and letting ambulance take Subaru home. Not to deny it, temptation to do the latter was high.
“Another one of these transparent things”, Subaru asked assuredly, like there weren’t dozen of spirits that fit that description.
“What?”
In turn Subaru raised glass up to bartender’s face to clarify - “This”
Glass was empty.
Karen wished second-hand embarrassment was strong enough to kill them both. Alas, it wasn’t.
“Just get him something light”, she cut in before Subaru could order Smirnoff and end up in newspapers.
He eased cigarette pack out of coat and lit one. Offered her one as well; she accepted. Subaru took a drag, then sighed and leaned against the counter. His expression was… tragic, to say the least. Really, he looked like his whole family died or something; despondency so primordial one couldn’t imagine him not being sad. Maybe she underestimated herself when she invited Subaru out; maybe this truly was a mess in human form that couldn’t be fixed - just made worse. Challenging but not impossible.
Subaru sighed, raked fingers through hair and took another puff. “Like all the repressed horniness of all these years struck me at once”, he whined and shook head in utter disbelief.
Ah, classic case of depressed repressed mid twenties man. Guy who wanted to believe he can’t keep own needs in check all until he could no longer – and that’s how all kinks known and unknown to mankind get unleashed. Karen had the unfortunate of meeting fair share of those in her line of work but something told her Subaru was league on his own.
“I must get railed before the dawn or I’ll die out of sexual frustration”
Noone ever died of that – Karen almost countered but kept argument behind teeth. Never say never and she’d rather not be the one to break the news to Seals, let alone explain why one fo their strongest met his maker and that he’s nowhere pure and demure as he appeared. How can she tell Aoki only other “adult” in group died because he didn’t get dicked down? Karen facepalmed and reached for her drink; it simply wasn’t doing it for her, she was still too sober for this.
On other hand, finding Subaru a man for the night could turn out to be interesting. Despite being the absolute worst drunk ever, he was still attractive; plus that horny sad puppy dog look would only allure sugar daddies like moth to the flame. Sure, he’s not yet over his ex but nothing a good fuck couldn’t fix.
“Best way to get over a man is to get under another. I’m sure we can find you something here”, Karen offered back and hoped Subaru will be sensible about his choices. Who knows where his ex even was? Would he even want Subaru back? Really, the sooner he gives dating others a try the higher chances of recovering from this ridiculous obsessiveness were.
And of course – curing the pinning diaster gay syndrome. But Karen didn’t have high hopes of that ever being fixed.
“I don’t want something”, Subaru protested right away. Because of course he would; of course nothing in Karen’s life can go easy, not even finding a drinking buddy. She was here to have a good time and what did she get? Role of a babysitter. Karen couldn’t wait until Sorata and Yuzuriha twenty so she could take them out drinking, they’d be far more interesting company.
“I want… him” – Subaru added yearningly and glanced up, kicked puppy look on face.
Karen was half tempted to ask just who that guy was so she could meet that ultimate alpha male capable of causing this much psychological damage. Whoever that guy is he is a pro at ‘making him worse’ for sure. Karen didn’t dare ask what they broke over about; no amount of dry vodka would make her forget.
“His dick or nothing” - Subaru puffed with absolute firmness and reached for tequila. Damn, she told bartender to bring him something light; couldn’t blame the guy for wanting to profit on someone like Subaru who’ll surely give a big tip.
Now Karen had to meet this ‘Mr. magical big dick’ guy. Frankly speaking, taking Subaru’s sorry mental and emotional state into account she has a hunch big dick title would be more allegorical derogatory one than literal. Not like she could ask Subaru just how endowed his ex was.
“How do you know his dick is so good when you never felt it?”
The moment words left Karen’s lips she knew she fucked up. Subaru whimpered and teared up immediately; sniffed once more and rubbed eyes with back of hand. Great, now on top of being messy horny drunk he’ll turn into sobbing one, cry a river here and get them permanently banned from this bar. She loved this place!
Rule no.1: never remind Subaru that he never got fucked by his bastard ex.
“I know it’s good. I know it…”, Subaru sniffed further, sulked and took a smoke so deep he started coughing.
Rule no.2: never bring his ex’s bedroom skills he didn’t even get taste of into question.
“Alright alright, whatever you insist”, Karen tapped his back and changed the topic. “How he looks like? Maybe we can find someone similar”
“He’s hot”, Subaru purred out, love-struck look on face. Unbelievable.
Rule no.3: just play on a safe side and never ask Subaru anything about his ex. It’s for mutual benefit.
Being so dazed Subaru didn’t notice where he wasn't putting out his cigarette; so he ended up dowsing it on back of own hand. He hissed at first, then closed eyes and moaned. Karen hoped she heard it wrong due to loud music but pleasured look on Subaru’s face betrayed everything.
“Damn that felt so good, I wish he’d do that to me”, he moaned once more, completely unabashed.
“I’ll pretend I didn’t hear that”
True she could be quite kinky herself when partner whets her appetite but it seemed Subaru’s masochistic possibly fatal kinks had no limits. Awkward really. All in all now she was entirely sure she and Aoki were only adults among Seals.
Subaru chugged remaining tequila, hissed and raised empty glass up in air. Karen regretted not bringing a camera or something just so she could show a sober Subaru how loose his drunk self is. He’d wish Earth opens and swallows him whole so he’d get drink to forget and only open a vicious cycle. Also it’d serve a good advertisement what happens when you’re leading a repressed depressed life as a gay man. Kamui needed to see this cautionary tale and world will get saved immediately.
He sighed again with pensive look. “His shoulders are so wide he has to walk sideways through doors”, Subaru praised (or so Karen assumed although there was nothing admirable about being built like a triangle?) his ex and raised empty glass to lips. Then pouted once he realized no alcohol was left. Karen tried visualizing Subaru’s ex but all that her mind came up with was a red colored triangle; red as all the flags this disaster gay must have missed.
“Damn I wish he lends me that shoulder to put legs on whenever I’m sad”
Wait, wasn’t phrase to shoulder to lean on? Whatever makes Subaru happy she gue – wait wait, is that even possible for him? Karen tried visualizing Subaru happy but image came just as easy his absolute green flag ex boyfriend.
Meaning things didn’t add up. “But you’re always sad?”, she addressed Subaru with puzzled look.
“Precisely”
Karen glanced at all alcohol bottles in distance. Maybe if she chugged them all she won’t remember any of Subaru’s ramblings. Apparently bartender noticed her look as he returned to their counter.
“Boy, shot of jack” – she ordered right away. God knows she’ll be needing it. Plus bill is on Subaru’s tab so more reasons to get absolutely smashed. Karma.
“And for me -”
“- only thing you’re getting is water Subaru-san”
She was referring to him with ‘san’ only due to clan head title; given what Karen saw and heard so far ‘kun’ would be far more appropriate.
Subaru moped a bit at being denied more alcohol. Although who was she to tell him, a grown up (however just in name and ID card that should get revoked) man, when enough is enough? For some reason Subaru listened to her; for whole five minutes however before he ordered another gin. He chugged it before bartender even put drink on the counter.
Karen stared. Karen blinked. Utter disbelief. No, let it all go to hell. She chugged her shot too. If she gets wasted to then she won’t have to hold Subaru’s head over canal when alcohol poisoning kicks in. Heaven help Seals if Angels attack tonight, they’d be two commanders down. Although Subaru could use some of those homoerotic battles to get pent up frustrations out of system, just like -
“Kamui is constantly getting licked, choked and homoerotically pinned to the wall by his enemy with benefits” – Subaru vocalized her precise thoughts. If Kamui is tossing and turning in bed now it’s because of Subaru’s repressed envy. So much for dream friendship.
“God I wish it was me”, he moaned and rubbed cheek on bar’s counter. Maybe he was crying, Karen couldn’t tell from where she was sitting.
Karen chuckled silently to herself and took a sip of jack. For a moment she felt pity for him. Sympathy lasted until Subaru opened mouth to spout next insanity.
“Oh Seishirou-san, who you’re murdering tonight? Why it isn’t me?”
She spit drink out.
Stupor was brief however. Self-preservation kicked in, she gaped at Subaru and screamed - “What?!”
Now it was Subaru’s turn to be confused. “What?”, he addressed her with judging look, like he was in position to judge anyone here. “He’s Sakurazukamori, that’s his business”
If God truly existed he was watching this and laughing his ass off somewhere in heaven. Karen facepalmed and groaned for nth time tonight. She was worried her face will permanently deform from all the cringing. So Subaru was fooling around with his clan’s enemy clan; an infamous assassin to the boot. Suddenly Karen wasn’t so keen on meeting man who ruined Subaru’s life anymore; she liked to call that having self-preservation skills and common sense. Unlike disaster in human form to her left that was whining about not being dicked down by a serial killer.
Maybe other side’s Kamui had a point – apocalypse was a dire need.
“What are you two, Japanese version of Romeo and Juliet?”, Karen deadpanned once initial shock wore off. She’ll still be processing this information in weeks that follow with Lotus, for her sanity.
“If only, then he’d both take me and take me out”, Subaru complained for nth time. Karen had a hunch their relationship was fuck-marry-kill on endless spiral.
Oh well, you know the saying – bad boys are hotter then good ones. True Sakurazukamori ruined Subaru’s life but at least Subaru could say a sexy man ruined his life. Wait, what nonsense was she saying? Oh looks like alcohol final got to her.
Good. She took another sip for good measures. The less she remembered the better.
Subaru chugged another shot. He hissed and leaned back into seat – unfortunately way too far. He fell down from stool. Shit, she should help him up, shouldn’t she? But if she got up now balance would betray her too. Plus he deserved some karma, in Karen’s humble opinion. Luckily for them both some guy rushed to Subaru’s rescue. Knight in shining armor and if everything played out right also a dick provider for the night. Karen lost all hope there was a permanent fix for Subaru’s endless pile of issues but some railing will make him forget about his serial killer ex for a night.
Or not apparently. Subaru glanced up at guy, then murmured wistfully – “Seishirou-san?”
The hell no. For a second Karen was worried that was really the Sakurazukamori and that she’ll be reduced to a tombstone for daring to put Subaru into environment where other men can hit on him (look, nothing told her Sakurazukamori was just as obsessed with Subaru as Subaru with him but she just knew, call it woman intuition) but one look at guy’s face informed he was just as confused as she was. Apparently Subaru’s intoxicated mind could still discern normal men from his red flag ex so he stood up on his own and pushed this dejected guy away. So much for finding a replacement, looks like Subaru’s type were guys with body count.
“No wait, I think he’s in left corner actually”, Subaru murmured and pointed that direction. Karen glanced and noticed yet another tall menacing looking guy.
“Oh fuck me and my life”, Karen cursed under breath.
Great, now rest of night will be one paranoid mess induced by Subaru’s horny disaster gay mind hallucinating his ex in every corner. From corner of eye Karen noticed bartender nearing. She waved his way.
“Boy, shot of Smirnoff. Actually make it three”
~ 🍾 🍾 🍾 ~
After who knows how many more shots, complains about not getting any cock, asking for advice on how to change that, hallucinating his ex some more, breaking three glasses, almost getting kicked out, rambling some more about his ex and spending month’s worth of salary in one night Karen finally took Subaru out of bar. She held arm around his waist so he doesn’t collapse. To be fair she too was tipsy but still in far better shape.
“Look, a sakura tree”, Subaru whimpered like a child and pointed towards said tree.
After listening to all the drunken ramblings and things she’d rather not recall Karen came to a conclusion: someone should revoke Subaru’s adult rights. It’s misleading to think of him as grown-up.
For a bit she wondered what to do with this soon-to-be-throwing-up mess that potentially needed ambulance as ride home. Obviously she couldn’t leave drunk as high hell Subaru in the middle of street. If he gets kidnapped, injured or dies in some alley out of alcohol poisoning what will she tell Kamui? That his emotional support died because he was thirsting too hard over some emotionally unavailable dick?
She spied taxis on other side of the street. Alright, maybe she should make sure Subaru makes it home and then have same taxi continue the ride and take her home too. Heaven knows how much she craved comfort of her bed and -
“I think I’ll take Subaru-kun from here on” – low masculine voice cut her mussing short.
Karen swirled around in a flash; self-preservation was how she survived in risky line of work all these years. Tall man, dressed in black; he had sunglasses on at 2am - cringe. Instinct told Karen this guy was nothing but bad news. Apparently Subaru didn’t share the sentiment as he flew into guy’s embrace; arm wrapped possessively around his waist in a flash, grin on guy’s face. So much for learning on mistakes, Subaru charged at red flags like a bull.
“Seishirou-san…”, Subaru murmured and gazed yearningly at 26th ‘Seishirou’ of the night.
Now, whether this one was actually Sakurazukamori or not Karen really had no means of knowing. Triangle built checked out; one could build a bird nest on those shoulders. Also this guy seemed to know Subaru? Maybe? Or maybe not? What Karen knew for sure is that her vision was blurring too much; mind hazy, she couldn’t think too coherently. Plus this guy really did look like a potential serial killer, she didn’t want to mess with him.
But Subaru surely did want to. His type after all.
Alas, consideration part of who she is. She had to ask - “And you are?”
“Noone you should concern yourself with”
That was only reply she got before that guy turned around and strolled away – with Subaru cuddled to his side. Karen numbly watched them roam into crowd. Good, she got rid of Subaru. She’d rather give up drinking for whole year than ever let this night make a repeat. She needs to avoid being left alone with Subaru in the future because that would be bound to get awkward. Oh well, problems for future her. For now she could go home and -
Wait wait wait – she just let wasted defenseless Subaru go with a total stranger! Stranger that’s highly likely to be feared assassin and Dragon of Earth!
Fuck, what does she say to Seals!? That she let Subaru follow his obsessive horny dream and ended up in some ditch? Damn, she fucked up big time. She let Subaru wander off with a guy that’s potentially Sakurazukamori!
Even if he wasn’t, killing Subaru in such state would be child’s play. Great, now she’ll be responsible for disappearance of one of Seals, head of Sumeragi clan to the boot. She could already envision seeing Subaru’s face in newspapers for new few months. But then again, could she be blamed really? She’d drunk as high hell herself, hence in no position to stop that guy from taking Subaru away. Not to mention, Subaru was quite content leaving with him – maybe he’ll finally get his wish for being dicked down by Sakurazukamori granted.
Or maybe not if he ends up throwing in guy’s lap. If that doesn’t get Subaru killed then Sakurazukamori must be just as head over heels for him. Because God knows Karen was tempted n numerous times tonight to challenge him to ‘chugging whole Smirnoff bottle’ potentially fatal challenge; for mutual benefit.
Still, Karen was sure of one thing: if Subaru survived they’ll both pretend this night never happened.

Just in case y'all want to know:
I haven't been as chatty or around in general (and haven't been making or posting gifs on the sideblog either) in a few months, since the beginning of May, really. And that's because I've truly had so much going on day to day, but not a lot to report. But this is an attempt, just to let y'all know I'm still here and still love you (especially you and you and you). So here's what's been going on (below the cut):
Novel (and novel class). Since May, I've written about 70,000 of my first draft of my novel. I've been pushed hard (in great ways) by the novel class that I'm in, which meets weekly. I just submitted a 150 page section of the book to my classmates for critique, and I have another 150 page section due in about 10 weeks. So the writing can't stop, won't stop. It's very exciting because I'm truly in it now. I'm enjoying the process. It's so hard to write a (good) novel, and the first draft is absolute drivel and messy, but it's just the beginning, and I'm still very pleased and happy with the whole thing. I will have a full first draft done by December 6. That's the due date. I have a calendar of word counts to help me meet this goal and it's going so well. Revisions are going to be a beast, but I'm still looking forward to that too.
Reading (and novel class). In addition to writing, I've been reading my classmate's submissions and providing feedback every week. So that's 300 pages of thoughtful, engaged reading, plus two sets of feedback, plus writing my own material every week. It's a lot. But, whew, it's fabulous.
Work. Of course. Fucking work.
Visit to see my parents and sister. I rarely get back to my hometown to see my parents (they live quite far away from me. 6-7 hours of plane travel--actual time in the air--plus all the travel to the airports, the waiting, the transfers, the expense, my god, it's so expensive). But my sister was coming in from Taiwan, where she's lived for the last year, and where she's returning. I'm still here visiting. My sister came down with COVID, so it's made things very difficult and stressful, but we're still visiting the best we can. My parents are also trying to fight the building of a cell tower literally across the street from their house, so I also had to do a complete legal analysis and prepare a case for them and their allies in the neighborhood so they can present their case as the zoning board meeting tonight. Those two things alone have taken up a lot of mental energy and time. I've cooked the dinners. I've been doing the dishes. I've been making everyone drink way more water. It's been so much. I'm glad I'm visiting and that I'm here, but it's been so much. Before my sister's symptoms were super bad (and before she tested positive), we all had a jubilant Christmas in July celebration, where we exchanged our gifts now, played the Chipmunk Christmas. Amanda brought and shared many unique Taiwanese snacks. That was lovely. But it's my last full day here (and I'm seeing my best friend tonight for the first time in years), and I'm kind of relieved and excited to go back home to my man and dogs and regular life. I hope I can escape without getting COVID. So far, no symptoms.
So that's why I've been a bit more absent than usual. But I hope everyone's doing okay and having a lovely summer (how is it almost August already). Be kind to yourselves. <3

PARTIES: @letsbenditlikebennett, @realmackross TIME: Afternoon, September 16th SUMMARY: Alex visits Monty's farm and is surprised to find Mackenzie there. The two have a long needed heart-to-heart. WARNINGS: mental health tw, suicidal ideation tw, murder mention tw, death mention tw PREVIOUS THREADS:1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8 - 9 - Current.
The more information that seemed to come out surrounding Mackenzie’s reign of terror had made her want to disappear even more and never resurface again. Whatever the Flats had done to her had taught the young zombie never to question the potential power anything had in Wicked’s Rest ever again. How could she go out and face a town full of people she had tried to make into a meal? Especially the ones she had made into a meal. Who had seen her? What news was out in the world? She had so many questions, but like everything else in her life, she knew she couldn’t keep forcing it down.
Monty had been so kind as to let her stay hidden at his farm while she rested and tried to recoup from an illness that had not been fun at all. But if she were going to eventually face the outside world again, she was going to need someone on her side. Winter had made it clear that she didn’t want to be around Mackenzie anymore, which meant there was one person left that she felt like she could trust enough to tell the truth. Otherwise it was just going to be her and…
“Taylor, no. I’m not leaving yet. I’m not ready. I’m okay. Yeah. Just tell my parents I’m fine. I don’t know. Maybe I was preparing for another movie? Yeah, yeah. No. I have everything I need. Thank you.” With a soft, quivering sigh, Mackenzie hung up the phone and shoved it into the pocket of her jeans.
Stopping by the farm hadn’t been entirely planned, but when she found herself in Gatlin Fields anyway because of a hankering for spiced apple cider, it only seemed natural to stop by and see Monty. Maybe Alex also wanted to see the kids, but who could really blame her for that one? Baby goats were damn cute. Maybe part of her hoped it’d be a good time to bring up his lack of heartbeat. It felt like something to broach with him first rather than her cousin and she was curious.
Despite the fact Alex knew that he probably didn’t need a beverage given the lack of heartbeat, she still brought one along with her. Aria didn’t need to eat real food and she still enjoyed candy. Even Mack liked to snack on normal food sometimes even if it tasted like bland. So she was mostly confident in her decision to bring Monty a warm, spiced apple cider as well. It was manners or something.
However, as she walked up the field toward the farm itself, she heard a familiar voice that wasn’t Monty’s. Hell, it wasn’t even Kaden’s which would have also not surprised her though she would have of course had to lightly tease her cousin. That would have made more sense than it being Mack. She couldn’t think of a reason why Mack would be on a cattle farm of all places. Hollywood actress to hanging around a place that smelled like manure was a pretty big jump, but she followed the sound of the voice anyway only to find Mack hanging up the phone.
“Uh,” Alex started with a confused look on her face, “Hey?” Her head tilted as she looked at Mack who somehow didn’t look completely out of place on a farm… not that she looked like a farmhand either, but this definitely wasn’t that one crappy reality show with heiresses she saw five minutes of on TV once. “Wasn’t expecting to find you here,” she hesitated, “You’re not diving into reality TV, are you? Think you’re a little too down to earth for the whole city to farm girl thing…”
Mackenzie was struggling. There was still so much that was unknown. What kind of havoc and pure hell had she caused all over town? Maybe it wasn’t as bad as she thought. Maybe it was all in her brain, and she had stayed in one small area and feasted on wildlife. It made sense right? She was super sick when she had come to Monty, and zombies did need human brains to survive. That had to be it. Maybe if she could just live in the land of denial just a little longer, she’d be set.
“Huh?” Okay, if this was a mythical land she liked to call her own, it sure as hell sounded a lot like, “Alex? What are you doing here?” Mackenzie’s face had held so much confusion. Had Winter or Monty told the werewolf about the zombie being here? If so, she would have a word with whoever it was, "Did Winter…or Monty say something to you?” It couldn’t have been Elora, because she barely knew Elora. Maybe it had been Winter. Maybe she had still cared, and it wasn’t as bad as…No, there was no way Winter was just going to let Brody’s death go like that.
Clearly, both of them were confused about the other’s presence on the farm. Alex hadn’t even known that Mack knew Monty. Hell, if he wasn’t her cousin’s boyfriend, she probably wouldn’t be dropping in to visit the goats with apple cider for them just for funsies on her way home from class. Her head tilted to the side as they shared a bewildered look. “Huh,” she asked, “Winter? Monty? No… I didn’t know you were even here.”
She held up the two paper cups with the apple cider and a bit of a shrug. “Monty is Kaden’s boyfriend,” Alex explained, “Was mostly dropping in to visit the baby goats. Cilantro and Jalapeno are kind of my besties.” She offered a somewhat awkward smile as she was still thrown off guard by running into her friend. “Wasn’t expecting to run into my person-shaped bestie, too. What are you doing here anyway?”
Though Mackenzie was still slightly confused, there was a part of her that was somewhat relieved to see Alex standing in front of her. It was better than having Winter come back and say what she had probably wanted to say after a night of sleeping on the information that Mackenzie had revealed to her, “Oh…Well, hey!” Her voice was still uneasy. Did Alex know about the stuff in town? Did Mackenzie even make it into town? Maybe this had been her opportunity to get some answers.
Mackenzie’s eyes drifted to the paper cups and back to Alex, “Oh. Oh! I didn’t see that one coming.” So love as a zombie was possible, if you were experienced and had lived as long as Monty, but Monty was a great person, and he deserved happiness, “Good for them. And I haven’t seen the baby goats, but Monty got me a llama. She’s outback in one of the pastures. I named her Sallama Gomez. Um, but, yea.” The zombie paused, before speaking again, “Uh, did anything weird happen in town this past week?” She had felt odd after everything that had happened after the Flats and before the Flats, during their second sleepover which had turned super awkward, and she had hoped that Alex had been okay after everything that had happened.
“Surprised me too,” Alex laughed, still a little uneasy. She couldn’t place it, but something felt off. There was something about the vibe that just felt off. It was like looking at an incomplete puzzle with no reference photo— she wasn’t even sure what pieces she was trying to put together, but none of them were slotting into place. “They’re pretty cute.” That much was true.
“Sallama Gomez,” she perked up, “She’s just like Taylor for real… doing anything to bring up Selena Gomez.” The strange energy was still sitting between them and only seemed to become more apparent when Mack asked about stuff happening in town. Admittedly, Alex had been a little bit checked out between catching up on school work and working on practicing shifting. “Uh, weird how? There’s literally always weird shit happening in this place,” she answered with a confused crease in her brows, “I’ve been playing catch up with school after well… getting shot. Why did something happen? Did the weird thing happen to you? What’s going on, Mack?”
A concerned look flashed across her features. “Something feels off here,” Alex explained, “I don’t know what, but you can talk to me. You know that, right?”
Mackenzie’s entire energy had been off since coming out of her zombie trance. She had even felt it the day before with Winter, but the woman hadn’t given her long enough to actually have a conversation without leaving in a flash, “I’ll have to go see them. The goats, I mean. Not Monty and Kaden. And yeah, I wanted something cute, and Sallama Gomez it was. Maybe you can convince Monty to get another llama, Tayllama Swift, and they can be besties.” She laughed softly, but her mind was racing.
“Right? How are you? Are you doing better? You look better.” Mackenzie gave Alex a look over. She did look much better than the last time she had seen her. She seemed happier and like life was maybe getting back on track. But Mackenzie was putting off the inevitable for fear of losing another friend. She couldn’t take a double friendship hit in the course of two days. She just couldn’t, but Alex was onto her. The werewolf could tell something was up, “I know. I know…”
Mackenzie looked down to find her leg shaking and immediately stopped it, but the suspicion hung heavy in the air, “Something big happened. But I can’t remember what it was. I just know when I came out of it, I was in the back of someone’s truck being brought here.” She had looked at the social media as Winter had suggested and had seen a few things, but it all had been related to some wild animal, which she had wondered if it was her, “And I told Winter something, and now I think our friendship is over.” The zombie’s eyes were blank as she was now staring past Alex instead of looking at her like she had been earlier.
There was something akin to comfort to be found in the llama jokes the girls exchanged. Alex had always relied heavily on humor in difficult moments and while she knew it wasn’t necessarily her best trait, it was nice to share with Mack. They could ease themselves into the moment of whatever was coming. Even if it was apparent by the way the air between them felt almost thick that the zombie was carrying something heavy, they could ease themselves into the harder topics like one would slowly enter a cool pool on a hot summer day. Not that she ever did that. She was much more likely to dive straight into ice cold water before anyone would notice the wet dog smell was in fact coming from her.
“Tayllama Swift,” she smiled weakly, “Now the goat remix of I Knew You Were Trouble makes so much more sense.” Which admittedly, that remix had no business slapping as much as it did, but that was hardly the point. The joke brought a small bit of brevity along with it which seemed all the more necessary as Mack spoke again. Alex made a concerted effort to keep her brows from knitting together in confusion. While she wasn’t well-versed in the undead, she didn’t think they randomly lost their memories like new werewolves did during a shift. She observed the zombie as she spoke, looking for hints of what could have happened. “Whatever happened, we’ll figure it out, okay,” she assured.
When Kaden had come home covered in blood that she knew was the hunter’s, Alex had made a promise to herself to immerse herself more in the supernatural circle she’d found. Looking out for each other felt less like asking someone to fight on both sides of a war they never asked to be a part of. Neither she nor Mack asked to be part of the supernatural either, but they were already placed squarely on one side of the battlefield. There would always be people who killed them simply for what they were and there would always be whole wars fought internally as they fought with themselves. Most days, it was still a fight for her to put those intrusive thoughts in the back of her mind and she had been at this for 13 years. This was all still new to Mack and something big had happened. While she couldn’t piece together exactly what based on the zombie’s condition, the way she held herself gave some hints. As much as Alex loved Mack, she knew both of them were dangerous.
“What did you tell Winter,” Alex asked softly as she took a seat on one of the hay bales sitting around. She patted the spot beside her indicating for Mack to join her. The zombie’s eyes were no longer meeting hers and being side-by-side at least naturally gave some reason for that while allowing them to be close enough for Alex to offer comfort. She could make some guesses about what would be big enough to end a friendship, but this was Mack’s story to tell. Whatever it was, Winter had turned her away and that had to hurt. Even if it was the worst case scenario, Alex knew she had to be supportive. If Mack was going to get through being a new zombie and figure any of this out, she needed someone in her corner and Alex wanted to be in her corner. No matter what Mack had done, she was still kind and caring. Something that happened to her and made her something that had to fight for control didn’t just erase all of that. “I think,” she hummed, “Maybe talking about it could help… and I won’t leave you. Whatever it is, you’re still my best friend, ok?”
And she found she meant it. Alex had never had a best friend and had never even used the phrase so earnestly before, but it felt important that Mack knew she was gonna be here no matter what.
Since coming to Wicked’s Rest, Mackenzie had never imagined she would have made friends like she had, especially a best friend with a werewolf. Of course, the finding out of the werewolf part didn’t come until later, but to have made such a close friend so fast had been like a miracle. Mackenzie had spent most of her life just trying to figure out who was genuine and who wasn’t, but after the tragedy with Brody, she had truly believed that she shouldn’t have been around anyone. To care about people as a brain eating monster had been contradictory, and her worst nightmares had been proven true not even two years into her new and horrific life. But the day that Mack had met Alex, something just clicked. Her humor, but also her humbleness and kindness, especially after the mime prank had proven that she was real. It had just been a bonus that she didn’t know anything about the actress.
The real test of friendship, though, had seemed to have come when Alex found out what Mackenzie was in the worst possible way, and still loved her for it. And like any real friendship, Mack knew that not every moment was going to be perfect or easy, like sleepover part two, but the fact that Alex was still around and they had somehow managed to still have fun said a lot.
“I love that video…” It was really all she could muster in the moment in a way of humor. The awkwardness that was hanging in the air felt like it was suffocating her, and she finally decided to give into Alex’s offer.
Taking a seat next to the werewolf, Mackenzie’s leg started to shake again. She was blinded by the thoughts in her mind and everything around her seemed so bright like she wanted to pass out, but couldn’t. Like it was all a nightmare. Like her entire life had been one big, neverending nightmare and she just wanted to wake up from it, “I killed him. I killed Brody.” She had spoken the exact same words she had told Winter the day before. If Alex wanted to run, Mackenzie couldn’t blame her, but she also knew that if she did, then Wicked’s Rest was going to be just another thing of the past. “I don’t remember how it happened. I just remember coming home that night, and he was standing in the doorway waiting on me, but I was so hungry. And when I came to. When I could remember things again…he was dead.”
She looked down at the ground searching for any miniscule thing she could hold onto with her eyes. Put her focus on while she waited for Alex to be disgusted with her and take off. Her heart was fragile. From waking up at Monty’s knowing something horrible had happened to losing Winter to now confessing what she did to Alex it had all happened so fast, and she had wanted the sky to open up right then and there and strike her down in her unnatural undead life, so it would finally all be over with.
When Mack finally took the seat next to her, Alex felt a small wave of relief. There was so much tension hanging in the air and the small gesture of taking the seat beside her relieved some of that. Whatever it was that was weighing so heavily on her friend, she knew she’d do whatever she could to help, even if the only thing she could do was just be there. Even if that never felt like enough to give, she knew firsthand what a difference it could make when someone stuck around through the hard parts. She could feel the way Mack’s leg shook and she knew that whatever came next, wasn’t going to be easy. Seeing her friend hurting this way wasn’t easy, but Mack had sat by her side watching shitty movies when Alex was the one hurting and making mistakes. She knew she hadn’t made it easy either by trying to write the whole attack off as no big deal, but Mack was still there and glad to offer whatever she could in the way of support. Because that’s what friends did and it was Alex’s turn to be a good friend now.
The confession was followed by silence for a moment. Alex wasn’t sure what she had been expecting, but admittedly violence or some sort of zombie related accident had been at the forefront of her mind. This was in line with that but somehow so much heavier at the same time. Her hand found Mack’s shoulder and gave it a reassuring squeeze. It was hardly anything in the midst of what she had just confessed, but it was all she could do. Death was hard enough as it was, but having caused the death of the person you loved? She couldn’t imagine how much that weight had been crushing Mack all this time.
“Mack,” she breathed in practically a whisper, “I’m so sorry.” The words felt silly. She’d heard them enough time over the course of her own life and it felt just as awkward from the other side. Grief was tricky to navigate that way, but this was bigger still. Alex spent most of her life feeling like a monster because of what she was and Mack had been thrown into being something she never asked for and it cost her so much. Suddenly, abandoning a family legacy felt so incredibly small in comparison. “You didn’t know, ok,” she said carefully, “You were thrown into being a zombie with no warning or preparation… you couldn’t have known.”
Alex gently wrapped her arms around Mack and held onto her friend tightly knowing that it’d take a really tight hug for the zombie to really feel it. It didn’t fix anything, nothing could ever fix death or erase the grief and guilt that followed it, but she hoped it told her friend that no matter what, she’d be right here whenever Mack needed her— that there was no mistake too big that would make her turn her back on the girl who had become her closest friend. “I know nothing fixes what happened,” she murmured, “Or bring Brody back, but I’m not going anywhere, ok? I know you’re not bad even if right now it might feel like you are.”
Mackenzie was scared. In fact, she had been living her life in fear since the day she had become a zombie. Ironic - a monster living in fear. But it had become the new normal for her. Watching her back everywhere she went. Holing up in her house and trying to avoid being around people. For someone who had lived such a social life to just stop had been nearly impossible. It hadn’t just been a physical death. It had been a mental death as well, but one that she couldn’t exactly show. Not in public anyways. She always had to be as well put together as possible. Fake a smile for her fans and the people around her. It was all one sick and twisted game, and it was finally starting to break her.
But the simple gesture of Alex putting her hand on Mackenzie’s shoulder had meant something. It meant she wasn't alone. It meant that Alex wasn’t planning on leaving her behind. She was still there. It was the hug that solidified everything. The hug that made the zombie fully breakdown and sob. She hadn’t cried like this around anyone in a long time, and as much as she wanted to stop, she couldn’t. Instead, she wrapped her arms tightly around Alex and refused to let go, “I promise I didn’t mean to kill him. I know what I am is against everything ever created, and I wish that the fall had killed me the first time…Then he’d still be alive. Then Brody would still be here. The PA, everybody else I’ve hurt…They’d all still be alive, Alex. I swear I didn’t mean to hurt them…” She confessed it all into Alex’s shoulder, her face buried from shame of what she had done, despite it being out of her control.
Her heart had been breaking for a long time, and whatever this week had been had finally driven her to a release. Anything that was coming out had to be cathartic right? The weight of carrying around so much death and destruction somewhat being out in the open. But there were still the consequences of her actions. How was she going to face that? You couldn’t just throw a zombie in prison could you? But maybe being driven mad by lack of food and the same dark, dank little cell was what she deserved for the rest of her undead life.
Pulling away from Alex and looking at her with hazy eyes, Mackenzie spoke, “What do I do Alex? I’m responsible for people dying. Do I turn myself in? Do I run again? I don’t know what to do anymore?” She wiped her eyes and looked back down at the floor; her posture slumped in defeat. Mackenzie didn’t want to keep going at this point for fear of what she was capable of.
The only thing Alex could do was hold Mack while she cried. Mistakes weren’t something that could simply be undone, especially when they ended in death, but she had to believe that moving forward and being better was possible. If it wasn’t, why were either of them even here? If her parents were to be believed, neither of them should be here, but that didn’t feel quite right either. Maybe there wasn’t a clear right answer, but holding her friend while she sobbed and processed the weight of what she had done felt like it was the right thing to do. She clung on tightly to her friend and tried to be something of an anchor with her tight grip. Her heart hurt for Mack, how she got thrown into this crazy supernatural world and found herself unmoored within. It was scary, it made you doubt everything you ever knew about yourself— she wanted so badly for Mack to not have to deal with any of it, but that wasn’t the way the world worked.
Alex stroked the back of her friend’s head and ran her hand through the short blonde tresses. She remembered Andy would do the same when she cried as a kid and it always felt comforting then. She could only hope it had the same effect for Mack whose world had all but fallen apart the day she died. It wasn’t the same, but maybe part of her could understand that, a bigger part than she really wanted to admit. The hurt that Mack felt now— the werewolf knew part of it would always stay with her. It wouldn’t feel as crushing all the time, sure, but it would always be there and able to bring the zombie to her knees as the wave hit her. She hated that her friend had to know that kind of hurt that lingered so long that it eventually became a part of her. Her own eyes turned misty as she whispered, “I know you didn’t, I know.”
The pain in Mack’s voice was so raw that it practically gutted her and Alex was only a bystander to it. She hadn’t lived it, but something in the way Mack wished she had stayed dead that day struck a chord. How many times had she wished the bite that turned her into a monster had just killed her instead? When had she stopped wishing that? She held Mack a little tighter. “Maybe, maybe not,” she offered gently, “Things could have gone a lot of different ways and it sucks that this is the way they went. It really really does. But you’re here now and maybe there’s no changing what happened, but you can still make it count.”
Or maybe she didn’t even need to make it count. Alex wasn’t really sure. She’d spent so long trying to justify her own existence to herself that it was hard to separate the tangled threads of who she was and how she felt from the broken record of everything her parents taught her that still played like an echo in the darkest corners of her mind.
When Mack pulled away, their eyes met for a moment and Alex felt herself tenderly searching her friend for signs of what she needed. She was asking for advice and next steps. Part of it scared the werewolf. She hardly had all the answers as much as she liked to pretend nothing fazed her. Mack was looking at the floor again and Alex pondered for a moment what was the best way forward. “You can’t turn yourself in,” she began. That much she knew with certainty. “Zombie in prison is kind of a recipe for disaster and a lot more dead bodies,” she explained, “But I don’t think you have to run either. Don’t think you’ll find another town as weird as this one anyway.”
But what was the answer? What would give Mack some meaning to her life after death? Alex wasn’t sure, but she didn’t think acting was going to be it. That much attention on Mack and eventually someone would notice she wasn’t aging. It felt unfair that it was yet another part of her life that Mack had to leave behind. Alex chewed at her lower lip for a moment before she finally spoke again. “I think what you do now is just… work to get a handle on the whole zombie thing and do good where you can. You’re kind, you know? That kind of thing makes more of a difference than you think. Start small, find things that give you meaning and purpose in the whole undead existence thing you kind of just got thrown into.”
Mackenzie took in this moment. Absorbed all of it. The way Alex was rubbing her head. Her words. Every part of it. She had felt so lost and broken. Mackenzie had just wanted to disappear and never be seen again. The darkness that consumed her life on a regular basis was almost too much to handle on most days, and she had felt so alone for so long. But, at this moment, she wasn’t. There was somebody who cared enough to have stayed by her side.
She couldn’t fault Winter for leaving though. She knew exactly what the medium was going through. Mackenzie had become a zombie a mere two years ago and still struggled with the idea of it every day. Winter had only experienced it just recently. The supernatural world. But it still was a stab straight to her weak heart when she didn’t even give Mackenzie a chance. Instead, taking her leave with nothing but a warning about Taylor and the havoc she was wreaking on Mackenzie’s social media.
“I know you’re right.” Her voice shook with each word she spoke. “You’re right about all of it. I know the easiest thing to do would just be to give up. Which…I want to so badly. But there’s got to be something more out there for me right? Like you were saying, counteract the bad with the good?” She gave a faltering smile to Alex. Mackenzie was scared. She was afraid of what the world could do to her, but more so of what she could do to the world. The past two years had been mourning a life that was never going to be finished living. And here she sat, not sure she wanted her undead one either. But she at least had to try right? She had come this far, and if someone like Alex was willing to be there to walk alongside her and help her through it, then wasn’t that a good enough reason to stay?

A scene from a very OOC/bad end AU that’s been stuck in my head recently. Just wanted to write something out to vent for a bit. Inspired by this fic (and if you know who I ship my F!MC with then you know whose part I was inspired by RIP 🙃)
Content warnings: past relationship, infidelity, single parenting
“Here’s your usual, Alice! All packed and ready to go.”
“Thanks Mister Sanders!”
“Anytime, kiddo. I see your folks are out with you today. Is your grandma not feeling well?”
“She’s doing alright! Dad just thought she could use some peace and quiet for once.”
“Glad to hear that. Now you take care on your way home, okay?”
Across the bustling town square, Lucifer observed the exchange with a thoughtful hum. “Her portions have gotten bigger. Have you been eating?”
“Yes, of course. Simeon always makes sure we have enough delivered to last a month.”
“That’s good. Are you feeling alright? We can find some shade to sit in if you want.”
“…No, I think I could use some more sun.”
“Very well.”
Lucifer offered Kirana his arm and continued to escort her around for the rest of the morning. His free hand carried the extra groceries picked up by the young girl happily running errands on their behalf.
When it was time for lunch, the three returned to a little cottage on the outskirts of town. Alice rushed upstairs to wash up, leaving them to prepare food.
“Thank you for accompanying us today. You can let go now.”
Lucifer released Kirana’s arm and started putting away the groceries, already familiar with where she kept everything in the kitchen.
Kirana smiled sadly. “Lucifer. Let go.”
A pause, and the demon sighed before allowing the glamor to fall away. Smooth skin became wrinkled, black hair faded to grey; when Lucifer finally turned around, a much older woman was standing in Kirana’s place.
“It’s okay. It was nice while it lasted.” She moved to pull out a few pots and pans. “Will you be staying for lunch?”
“I’m afraid not. Lord Diavolo needs me for several engagements.”
“Pity. Another time then.”
With a kiss to her cheek and a farewell hug, Lucifer teleported away.

“Mum, can Mister Lucifer be Dad?”
Kirana went still before carefully setting down her cutlery. “Alice, why—”
“I know he’s actually my uncle, but if my real dad doesn’t want me, then I don’t want him back!” The girl declared, crossing her arms with a huff.
“Sweetheart, you know he doesn’t know about—”
“I don’t care! He didn’t want you either, or any of them, so stop sticking up for him!”
It was the truth, but it never stopped hurting after all these years. To this day, Kirana still wondered where she’d gone wrong, wondered what she could’ve done differently. She didn’t regret having Alice, but there were times she wished she had someone by her side to help raise her daughter. Alice deserved more than just a heartbroken mother who couldn’t move on from the past.
“Mum? Mum, I’m sorry, please don’t cry…” Alice scrambled off her chair, green eyes bright with worry as she crawled onto Kirana’s lap and hugged her tight.
Kirana sighed and hugged her back, mentally chiding herself for wallowing in misery again. The fact that she survived delivering Alice into the world was a sign, according to Simeon and Lucifer. It meant that her fight wasn’t over, that she still had a role to play in the grand scheme of things. And despite losing her youth and magic in the process, Kirana wouldn’t trade her daughter for anything.
“Why don’t you ask Lucifer the next time he visits, hm?” Kirana acquiesced. Regardless of how she felt about the Avatar of Pride, her daughter needed a father. Alice was her world, and there wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for her.
