'General Washington imprudently exposed himself to danger. After a long reconnaissance, he was overtaken by a storm, on a very dark night. He took shelter in a farmhouse, very close to the enemy, and, because of the unwillingness to change his mind, he remained there with General Greene and M. de Lafayette. But when he departed at dawn, he admitted that a single traitor could have betrayed him.'
Lafayette Papers, 1779 - Laf details his memory of Washington, himself, and Greene staying at the home of Robert Alexander, a loyalist.

i hope for denny’s sake that his bio dad is a good person with good intentions. that the main focus is the four of them coming to an understanding of whether or not there will be a relationship with him in the future. it’s such an fascinating concept. in denny’s mind this man isn’t a stranger, he’s his father. he was raised by two amazing parents so to him it makes sense that this man also has his best interests at heart. all we know though is that he shares dna with denny. and maybe that’s all that he can offer him. and we know from this show in the past that dna is the least important thing when it comes to family. but in a season where reconciliation among the buckleys and the hans appears to be being forced, it’s certainly an interesting choice to be introducing this storyline as well. i can’t wait to see where all of these threads are leading.

I feel the deepest affliction at the news we have just received of the loss of our dear and ⟨inesti⟩mable friend Laurens. His career of virtue is at an end. How strangely are human affairs conducted, that so many excellent qualities could not ensure a more happy fate? The world will feel the loss of a man who has left few like him behind, and America of a citizen whose heart realized that patriotism of which others only talk. I feel the loss of a friend I truly and most tenderly loved, and one of a very small number.

I’m so confused about the Denny plotline playing out with his father because last we saw the dad Hen and Karen were on good terms with him and agreed for him to be a part of Denny’s life. Then the show forgot about the character for a few seasons and now Denny secretly meets up with him?
There is no reason for the secrecy and Denny not knowing him in the first place unless something happened off screen and long enough ago that Denny wouldn’t even remember him. He wasn’t even that young when they met on screen in the show so it’s a bit weird he’s acting like it’s the first time he heard of the man but I guess maybe they didn’t tell him the guy is his father?
I mean look at the wiki description of the character:
“After Hen puts Eva in jail following her relapse, Nathaniel meets Hen and Karen again. Observing Denny's current life, he is eager to support Hen and Karen's decision on keeping Denny, in exchange for being apart of his son's life.[1]
Denny found out about Nathaniel through a file his mothers kept, tracking down his father to connect with him. Nathaniel answered the door to find Denny who wanted to talk.[2]

The books on your TBR sound interesting! I've heard of Redcoat, but what are the other two books about? I've never heard of those!
Hi, Anon! Thank you for the ask!
David Liss’ The Whiskey Rebels is centered on the build up to the Whiskey Rebellion of 1794, and follows two individuals—Ethan Saunders and Joan Maycott—who eventually find themselves on opposite sides of the conflict. Saunders working with his old enemy, Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton, and Maycott and her family living on the Western frontier distilling whiskey.
I particularly find this interesting due to the fact that Hamilton is painted as a villain (something not too difficult to do), and the dual storylines that eventually connect at the end. I’m very curious and am hoping to get to this novel soon.
Salina B. Baker’s The Line of Splendor tells the story of General Nathaniel Greene in the form of a biographical novel. Sort of similar to what I’m doing with The American Icarus and Alexander Hamilton. Greene was one of Washington’s top generals during the American Revolution, and Baker utilized real documents and other materials to tell his story from his early involvement in the war to his later years.
I was particularly interested in this novel due to the fact that it centered on a very important, but overlooked, historical figure, and was made in an interesting manner.

Heyoooo,
Ok, this is gonna be a fun question,
Which actors/actresses will you cast if you are the director directing a movie or TV show about revolutionary war?
People like George Washington, his Aid-de-Camps, the Schuyler sisters and such?
I'm absolute shit at remembering celebrities so many of these are me recasting actors from other shows I've watched.
Ian Kahn as George Washington
Honestly I thought he did a great job in Turn, if only it wasn't for the unnecessary dramatics occasionally but that is really the director's fault rather than his. But I think he has the complexion and characteristics down perfectly, he honestly captures Washington's not so liked side of him with his explosive temper, or harsh judgement. But also his human side of not being a famously trained general with the brightest mind or insight on things throughout the revolution.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rufus Sewell as Nathaniel Greene
I have seen Sewell's great acting from the HBO max John Adams miniseries, and while I don't think he makes an all-too-grand Hamilton — his features and build could work perfectly for Nathaniel Greene.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Josh Whitehouse as Alexander Hamilton
It is extremely hard for me to find any actors I'll actually find suitable for Hamilton, due to how unique his features are but I think Whitehouse would work pretty nicely. He has the chin, and while not quite the nose it still works. And he has experience doing period dramas from the BBC series Poldark.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Seth Numrich as John Laurens
Pretty self-explanatory, but I absolutely loved his acting as Benjamin Tallmadge in Turn and think he would work greatly for Laurens.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jamie Beamish as Charles Lee
I thought he played his character nicely in Bridgertons, and the same slimy, stubborn, foolish personality would also match with Lee's. His complexion doesn't match as much as I would like but I think his acting is the major key.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway that's all I can think of for right now, maybe I will do one for more of the Aides-de-camp, or generals, but that's all for now.
