Finding out the ORIGINAL Monster High live action movie (2013) was supposed to center around Jackson Jekyll and Holt Hyde
Me @ Mattel & Universal:
youtube
Where is the Screenplay?! We need the damn Screenplay! 😤
...
They took the ideas from the OG script and turned it into the MH 2022 version we have today.
The premise of the OG was about JJ/HH being half normies!
They literally just gave that plot line to Clawdeen, changing the lore and shoving compelling characters out of the way!!!
...
Why is the universe so cruel??? 🥲😭

Steven Spielberg: "I just recently turned 76, where they say, ‘What’s left to accomplish?’ I suddenly get nominated for the first time in my career by the Academy as a co-author of Best screenplay — it made me feel like all those English and creative writing classes paid off!"

Original Screenplay: Anatomy of a Script
Tumblr media
The nominees are:
Anatomy of a Fall
The Holdovers
Maestro
May December
Past Lives
I don’t think there's been any script better than Justin Triet and Arthur Harrari’s Anatomy of a Fall. Even though it's a slow burn, the story is so gripping that its 151-minute runtime goes by without it ever feeling tiresome. And you wonder how much of their experience as a real life couple helped craft the exceptional realism of the film.
Celine Song’s Past Lives would be my personal second choice in this category, but as this is the film's only other nomination, it may be a tall order. The Academy’s second choice may be Alexander Payne’s The Holdovers, which has been an awards show favorite this season.
May December’s nomination tickles me here, but the nomination is likely the reward. Maestro’s nomination is evidence of the Academy’s love for Bradley Cooper. It’s the only film in this category that didn’t also earn a WGA nomination.
Who will win: Anatomy of a Fall
But look out for: The Holdovers
Who I’d vote for: Anatomy of a Fall
If I could add one more: Monster

Writing question: Does this exchange read as really fucking stupid? It’s at the mid-point (about pg 50) in the story. It’s supposed to be the moral monologue of the screenplay.
Some background: Cop turned crook. Family disappointment. They’ve just been caught leaving a drug deal by an officer that recognizes the main character (Jesse) as a former cop and part of a law enforcement family. Jesse’s had trouble with drugs his entire adult life and failed to get clean when his family got him a job on another cities force. The cop couldn’t prove they were doing anything wrong, however, and left them alone pretty quickly. An entire 50 pgs of tension culminates in Jesse freaking out here.
Nolan introduced Jesse to drug dealing when he more or less rescued him from a rural fishing town. He loves Jesse to a fault.

BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY
The Banshees of Inisherin
Everything Everywhere All at Once
The Fabelmans
Tar
Triangle of Sadness
Will Win: The Banshees of Inisherin. If Everything Everywhere All at Once sweeps it might get this too but the film’s freneticism gives it a making-it-up-as-it-goes along feel that may alienate older voters who’ll prefer Martin McDonagh’s slowly building tragic joke.
Should Win: Tar.  Todd Field’s depiction of ivory tower celebrity, the cult of genius, and the ironies of cancellation is as subtle as it is brutal, depicting the downfall of a genius who is depicted with such painstaking detail that it’s hard to believe she’s not a real person.
Shoulda been nominated: Vengeance. B.J. Novak wrote a screwball comedy that bleeds and a film noir that made me giggle, not to mention a look at red-state/blue state division that’s less condescending (and funnier) than anything John Stewart has managed.

Hi folks, I like writing poetry but I'm looking to move away from that and do something more challenging, so I'm going to start working on a script for a screen play. If it goes well I may do more than one. I'm gonna post it here in episodes more or less so it's development can be followed or advised. Feel free to draw characters or scenes or act them out for this first one but please tag me so I can see what y'all come up with. I might make my second one something more personal but I'll let you know, I'm looking forward to developing this project, please follow if you're interested.

Jax episode concept
Jax went to perverted school (probably gonna obviously get a better name later) his father sent him there in the school system in the underground, Jax had a teacher named Rusty Buck and was an electric eel, Jax talks so highly about the guy toward the others and that he plans to meet up with him to reunite and rekindled on the good old days, when Rusty Buck showed up to see Jax he was a skinny and short man that didn’t look at all like he used to, in embarrassment but also out of pity Jax says in honor of teaching him what he knows today he will give him a dose of power using his magic, when Rusty Buck regained strength he became talk of the city and was far too good for his own good and caused havoc through the city by women and some men praising him, Jax, now a little turned off by the idea decides to reclaim his title after a battle between the two broke through, Jax then tells him “good things come to an end and the torch needed to be handed down” then the episode ends with everyone having a good time at the table then Trix walking in as a pimp then credits roll.
Now obviously speaking, this idea would be much easy to shorten and explained when written all out.
