Project Insight Turns Nightmare: Captain America- HYDRA’s Best Kept Secret?
Tumblr media
In a seismic revelation that has sent shockwaves across the globe, Captain America, once believed to embody the pinnacle of virtue, stands exposed as a high-ranking operative within the ranks of HYDRA. The shocking unmasking occurred during the much-anticipated unveiling of Project Insight in Washington, DC, turning what was supposed to be a moment of celebration into a nightmarish descent into the unknown.
As the world watched the live broadcast of Project Insight, the crescendo of cheers abruptly gave way to collective gasps of disbelief. Captain America, the embodiment of American ideals and the moral compass of the Avengers, was revealed to be a key player in HYDRA's covert agenda for global domination.
Investigations into Captain America's origin have unveiled a startling truth – Steve Rogers, before becoming the symbol of American ideals, took the Super Soldier Serum under the influence of HYDRA. Contrary to the widely held belief that he was a product of Allied forces, Rogers had voluntarily joined HYDRA, becoming the very embodiment of their insidious plans.
This shocking revelation turns Captain America's narrative on its head, exposing that every heroic act, every battle fought under the stars and stripes, was a calculated move in HYDRA's grand design. Operative since his transformation, Captain Rogers operated under the guise of a hero, all the while furthering HYDRA's agenda.
The betrayal, now revealed to be a product of Rogers' own free will, adds a chilling layer to the narrative. Far from being manipulated or coerced, Captain America chose to align himself with HYDRA, deceiving not only his allies but the entire world. The magnitude of this revelation leaves citizens, leaders, and the superhero community grappling with a sense of betrayal that transcends words.
The aftermath of this revelation is an international community thrust into chaos and terror. Governments worldwide are scrambling to grasp the extent of HYDRA's infiltration into the highest levels of power. Citizens are gripped by panic, demanding answers and accountability for the unimaginable betrayal perpetrated by a man they once revered.
The fallout is not confined to geopolitical arenas alone. The Avengers, assembled under the leadership of a man who operated with a hidden agenda, are left to reckon with the depth of the lies.
The hero-worship surrounding Captain America is now replaced with a profound sense of disillusionment, as the world confronts the realization that its greatest symbol of hope was, from the very beginning, a pawn in HYDRA's sinister game.
As the dust settles on this unprecedented discovery, questions linger about the true extent of HYDRA's influence, the implications for global security, and the enduring impact on the world's perception of heroes. This news sends ripples through the very fabric of society, reshaping perceptions of truth and heroism in a world now left to confront the dark shadow cast by the unmasking of its once-beloved hero.

Well, y'all unlocked a silly little p!Will lore hint during my Shrubathon, sooooo I wrote something up for you! I've put it after the break since it's a little long, and contains some spoilers! Enjoy!
The captain sighs, looking over the whelp he'd plucked from below decks. He wasn't much to look at, a shag of brown hair, a bit on the thin side, and his shirt practically swallowing the poor kid.
"I wasn't-"
"Shut up." The captain's eyes narrow. Insolent brat. "You were conspiring with the prisoner. Does your father know of this?" He leans back in his chair, the large desk separating them making the pause seem even greater.
"He doesn't."
"He's going to. If you won't tell him, I will." The man shrugs. "You're lucky I like your father, if I didn't, you'd already have been tossed into the ocean." A cold grin spreads across the captain's face. "And you wouldn't want that, would you, kid?"
"No." The boy hesitates again, looking down at his lap.
"No, captain." The chair creaks as the captain shifts and corrects the boy. "You'll remember this for the future. Get up."
They both stand, the boy tugging on his shirt as he gets up, trying to keep it in place. The captain's boots thud on the wooden deck below them as he crosses the room to the door.
"If I catch you with Caer again, I'll whip you to the bone. Do you hear me, Will?" His hand closes around the handle, turning to look at the kid.
"Yes…captain." Will nods, avoiding eye contact.
"And remember to tell your father. Or I will." The captain opens the door, watching as the boy practically runs out of his small office. He lets out another sigh, the brown mop of hair vanishing down the stairs into the ship. "Don't make the same mistakes I did, kid."

Whenever something doesn't match up with main canon lore/mechanics I'm just going to blame the tadpoles. They canonically depowered Wyll and are fucking around with Astarion's vampiric abilities.
Psionics are weird, and Netherese magic was so powerful Mystra has outlawed it. Combined they just rewrite reality, I guess.
Why can't Wyll cast gate? Tadpole. Why is Astarion vulnerable to poison and unable to regenerate? Tadpole. Why doesn't Durge turn to ash and reform in the Barrens of Doom and Despair when they die? Tadpole.

List 5 facts about a favorite sim of yours, and send this to simblrs whose sims you adore 🤍
Tumblr media
Kai and Ryuu's father was one of the seven Plague Lords of Inferna. Namely Ira, or Wrath. Their mother was a succubi queen (or princess, depending on how you want to look at it). Though Kaizen, unlike his younger brother, doesn't have a close relationship with their mother, despite being most similar to her in nature and appearance.
Also dissimilarly to Ryuusei, Kaizen has obtained something of an archdemon status. This has led many to question if Ryuusei is Ira's biological child or if the two brothers have different fathers. Though neither of them know with any certainty, Kaizen is of the belief that this is, in fact, the case. This is the leading factor in the brothers centuries long conflict.
Kaizen is a lust demon, not an incubus. He doesn't necessarily have to sleep with his victims to feed. Actually, Kaizen gets off on any and all lust, even if it's not directed at him, though that does sweeten the pot.
He actually loves humans, in a sick, twisted way. He finds them fascinating and hideous, like watching a never-ending string of car crashes. He'll often refer to them as his "ugly little pets" or "silly little things". Always as if talking down to a pitiful animal. His abilities make him attuned to human emotions and he understands their thoughts even better, often to the point of manipulating them to make things more entertaining for himself. He is a sadist through and through.
His fascination with Xiaoming stemmed from the fact that Xiaoming doesn't exhibit the same sort of emotions as other humans. Rather, a lack thereof. Meaning he can't feed off him (i.e. victimize him) because Xiaoming doesn't perceive lust. Xiaoming being the exception piqued his interest. In his mind, this makes Xiaoming exempt to all his condescending opinions about humans. Of course, Xiaoming having zero interest also helped, making Kaizen want to pursue him harder (that masculine energy tho).
BONUS: Though Xiaoming finds Kaizen despicable, disgusting, borderline abominable... In reality, Kaizen is incredibly gentle with him personally. After their initial meeting and clash, the two have never fought, neither physically nor verbally. They don't argue, as Kaizen is far too submissive to Xiao to refuse his commands. He grows to have a deep respect for Xiaoming, which morphs into something akin to love, if a demon could feel it. He'll tease Xiaoming endlessly, but in fact he is not only deeply loyal to him, but fiercely protective, and cares a great deal for Xiaoming's feelings. He will often give him gifts, dote on him and heap on flatteries (even if Xiao believe these all to be a show). But he's also very mindful of Xiaoming's thoughts and emotions, allowing him the space to speak and express himself, and never judging him one way or another. He abstains from doing things he knows Xiaoming would never tolerate, at least, in any capacity Xiaoming might find out he's doing it lol, and agrees to operate within the strict rules Xiaoming lays out for him as a way of proving his devotion.

Perry reacting to “This Is Your Backstory.”
[ID: First image shows Perry in a claw trap with a worried expression. Second shows Perry taken aback with wide, horrified eyes and small pupils. Third shows him with slightly bigger pupils and thicker eyebrow lines to show worry, still taken aback. The third shows him in red lighting, shielding his face, leaning away, eyes squeezed shut in apparent fear. end ID]
The second image is seconds after realizing he inadvertently provided the final “emotionally scarring backstory.”

can you please share your thoughts on watari as a character 😭🙏
I sure can!
I think he was introduced originally as a purely plot devicey sort of guy, without a lot of deep thought put into him... just this mysterious cloaked figure slinking around in the classic detective trenchcoat and fedora, bringing intriguing news from L on his laptop now and then. Then as the story progressed Ohba expanded his role into another plot devicey stoic background Alfred the Butler sort of guy. THEN once Ohba decided to go the direction he did with the story, he filled in L's backstory more (as he said he didn't have a fixed origin story in mind for L when he first created him) and came up with the idea that Watari had originally been a great inventor / the concept of Wammy's & L being something of a "invention" of Watari's - which definitely puts a potentially creepier/darker spin on him as a character and his relationship with L, and by extension L's successors. And other stuff like the one-shots showing how Watari first met L, and how darkly the Another Note novel depicts being one of Watari's experimental L runner-ups, further adds to this ominous vibe.
Thinking about Watari realistically and the implications of Wammy's, putting these orphans into competition with each other in ways that clearly messed many of them up, he seems like a bit of an evil bastard, and even Ohba said something along those lines about Watari/Wammy's in the behind the scenes book himself. but I don't think originally that had been the plan for him as a character. It just sort of developed that way as Ohba filled in the backstory of his characters and further extended the plot. I actually think it's a bit annoying sometimes, because I find him to be kind of a funny/inoffensive presence in the story otherwise, and at times I wish he could have remained just some guy that L hangs out with - I'm always caught a bit between going "haha look at the funny old guy scooping ice cream/scolding L for being rude/sniping people from helicopters" and thinking that it's not okay to appreciate him for that because Wammy's is kind of the worst/he is kind of the worst for founding it, maybe...
