the fact that tumblr, the social justice fandom blogging website, has been almost completely silent about the Quantum Leap reboot which has not only given us a nonbinary MAIN CHARACTER played by a nonbinary actor but also:

commentary on how blindly rejecting other people’s beliefs and experiences hinders progress towards the truth

commentary on corruption in healthcare systems and how healthcare workers are heroes for carrying on and saving lives in spite of the big companies trying to stop them

commentary on the abuse and neglect of mentally ill, abused and neglected children

an extremely bold and pro trans-joy story

and that’s just so far in season one. They seemed to be playing the slow game to begin with for sure, having a few regular unspecial episodes to establish the story and characters (and draw in viewers before they SLAPPED US with social commentary) but this show is SO important and it’s so disappointing that people aren’t picking it up

i am writing this about half an hour after finding out the news QL isn't coming back. I'm sure in the morning I'll have new thoughts and feelings but right now I'm just feeling raw sadness and disappointment. This was the last and only network show I've been watching the last couple of years. A throwback to how things used to be before streaming took over Hollywood. Are the news totally unexpected? Sadly no, but it doesn't make it hurt any less. And just when it had finally found it's footing!

Sure, the show has its problems. Sure, the ratings were not great. Sure, they tackled many issues that are wildly polemic in today's time (yeah, people, the show's *woke*. It's always been, where have *you* been?) . But.

In this world that only gets scarier by the moment, it was great to have this little ray of hope each week to remind us that selflessness and empathy still matter, that hope is timeless and that a single act of kindness can change the world.

I guess the world wasn't ready for it. GFTW sure can be a jerk.

I can only be thankful that S2 had such a wonderful, exciting, mind blowing ending. That at least, if Ben is to be lost to time, he isn't lost alone. It's bittersweet and poetic that in trying to save Sam, they've ended up joining him, maybe for forever.

I can only be grateful to everyone in the cast and crew, the show runners, every single person who put their heart and gave it their all to honor a thirty year old legacy; and made great moments, and made mistakes, and learned along the way just as we did. Who knew they could create something powerful, and had the bravery to share it with the rest of the world.

And thanks to you too, fellow leaper who might be reading this. Your love and enthusiasm for this show have always mattered, even though now it doesn't feel like it.

This leap is over, folks. But just as Sam, and now Ben and Addison have taught us, there's always the next one. Whether it's them, whether it's us, the true essence of QL will never die, because just as Sam did back in the day, the show has touched many hearts and lives, and those will touch others in return.

Keep leaping, people. Be kind to each other. Sometimes, that's all we've got.

does anyone know where I could find a screenplay/transcript/ whatever you call it for the most recent episode of Quantum Leap (2023) that just aired? Honestly it's just because that monologue went way too hard and I want to read it and analyze it because, when watching it, I only got to hear it once but it made me tear up immediately. So does anyone know anything about screenplays for currently airing shows?

I saw a commercial for the new Quantum Leap and I gotta say I’m not impressed with the replacement Al

Might even pitch an article about it because the reboot totally missed the point of Al’s wild clothing

Firstly it showed some of his personality

Secondly it hinted at what the future looked like (apparently the 80s aesthetic really took hold)

Thirdly, it was a visual cue for the audience, so they knew, even before it was established that Al was from the future, that this guy does not belong here

Al’s wild clothing allowed him to stand out from the crowd so no matter what we could pick him out, which also served to help Sam recognize him because no matter how swiss-cheesed his brain got there is no way he is missing some guy in a shiny silver jacket

And then the replacement Al is...a woman in a blouse and a pair of jeans? that kind of look like she pulled them back out of the hamper do we not have irons in the future? I know we have no-wrinkle clothes now

Like I had to look it up to make sure I wasn’t just blanking on this but literally the only sign she’s part of the project is her holding a remote (which just looks generic and not like Ziggy’s colorful remote are they not using Ziggy?)

There’s really nothing to make her stand out from Generic Background Character #3 she looks like she was abducted from her house after she decided to stay in for the day and told hi you’re going to be in the reboot no you don’t get a wardrobe change

Like at least give her a shiny jacket that screams Quantum Leap Project or scientist-person right now she just looks Bland
